Dave it’s a pleasure I am super excited to have Ricardo on I actually met Ricardo last month while I was speaking and kind of teaching NIC Greer’s entrepreneur class and bring him Young University Ricardo was one of the students there so Ricardo was a college student at Brigham Young University is an immigrant from Brazil he’s an Amazon seller and he Zacks been using clickfunnels it was a lot of fun while I was teaching the class here from Ricardo is some success that he’s having and I’m always there I thought you know what I wanted to make sure we brought someone on that not everybody knows who’s kind of new to the audience and would be a lot of fun to kind of experience some of the things that you’ve already gone through Ricardo and some of the tips and things you’ll have for our listeners so let’s just kind of dive right in this you ready to go yeah absolutely all right so as you know we’re just kind of talking offline for a second you you started off as kind of doing sick amazon selling and one of the main things you were in a situation was basically I think you’ve been married what almost a year now it’s all right yeah a little bit over a year right now a little over a year so a few months ago baek’s you’re in a situation where you had just one month left of funds I know how that is is a young married couple college dude you’ve got oh my gosh I got to provide for my wife how am I going to do this pick up the story there tell people what did you end up doing yeah absolutely so that was back in April that was last month back in school and my wife and I my wife was was working at that time but she wasn’t making enough money for us both to pay for the bills and as an immigrant I was kind of a little bit stranded because I was gonna get a job at college I tried applying for three different jobs and got denied and obviously I couldn’t work outside of campus so I told my wife we got out we got to start sending some of the stuff we have here at home and even perhaps start buying and flipping some stuff online never done it how to do it so I don’t know what we’re gonna do so with this I came across this course online that I was basically teaching how to start selling on Amazon and I was kind of intrigued from the results that people were having and and then I decided to take a chance I thought you know if they can make these type of results I’m sure I can make it as well – matter of fact I was a lot of people getting results from being outside of the states and bringing you know enough for their family which is my main goal the reason why I worked so hard for my family so I decided you know what let’s take this last month of funds and let’s put down to this course in fact the course itself cost a little bit under $4,000 and I didn’t have that money so I had to go into a payment plan paying for months we we had thousand dollars down then I did a course for about a month and I had to ask for a refund because I didn’t make enough money to pay for it so so as for the refund so I got $1,000 back a little bit of knowledge then month of May I decided I’m gonna find some products online sourced from China and let’s see how we go so beginning of June I started doing that and was able to pay for the bills of in June and then I started also buy products on sale on stores a lot of people call this retail arbitrage and just you know it was I was living paycheck by paycheck at that time from what the money were I was making from selling online but that’s all I needed back then I just we just needed to go we were we were always talk you know how we needed to wait how much do we need to make this month to survive to live and then yeah the end of June we decided we were able to finally make a little bit more so we moved out from well from where we were living to a better place and back in August I decided to finally incorporate a business and start a private label company that we launched in October we sold out in three weeks which was quite amazing for me and with that money I just purchased more inventory and now I have a large amount of inventory on Amazon looking for for Christmas so how much money do you make in October I think that’s the cool thing so in October were able to break a little bit over 15,000 in revenue and about yeah about half of that was profit that I was able to just reinvest into you buy more products that’s pretty I mean I think it’s so cool it I hope people understand you know a lot of times people would get on and say oh yeah I made sixty thousand dollars and all this guy stuff I think the cool part right now is your college student who’s sitting there with a newly married wife stress trying to find out how you pay the bills stay in school can’t get a job and so you turn to online marketing and with Amazon basically you end up making really seven thousand dollars or some profit in one month which for a college student who basically couldn’t even afford that it had to get a refund on the products four months earlier that’s said to me that’s pretty amazing so I’m super super excited about you hear about your success thank you I’m amazed myself sometimes in November basically I was teaching the class there it was if so you said you know what you were using clip funnels I thought you know what there are too many college kids I know who actually are using click funnels and I thought so what exactly are you doing and why have you gone from Amazon how are using amma or click funnels with your Amazon business so first time I heard of click funnels was actually from my brother-in-law and he’s saying we’re gonna implement a new type of platform in our business and we’re hoping it’s gonna work and I’m okay I’m gonna take a look at it and so I started following Russell’s and photo hacking TV and I just was amazed with the results you’re bringing for two people and also just how you made everything simple in one basic platform so I purchased the basic program and there for a month I was just playing around filling it playing around and right now the the most useful part of quick one is for me is with Amazon I don’t know whether my products gonna work or not I have to buy a large batch of inventory put it up for sale and hope that it works and obviously do some tricks in there and hopefully it’s gonna sell and with what I love about quick phone is that I’m able to create sales funnel sequence a sales funnel and I’m also able to create another one where I can split tests and see you know if I source this product from from China for my business is this gonna be a better product as a trip wire or is this gonna be a better product a my as my a high-end ticket product or should I source this other product so I’m actually able to split test with products that I do have them ready but I haven’t purchased yet because once I purchase they will come in here within seven days so it makes it a lot easier for me to to test the concept and that’s what I love the most about quick way knows I love that you know it’s I have spoke to so many people obviously who are utilizing clickfunnels and different ways they’re using it and I think one of the things I’ve seen a lot especially from a lot of our Amazon sellers and those people who are really trying to kind of get things going is the opportunity as you mentioned as far as split testing and I know when we were the class we were talking about the principle of actually selling something before you have it here and a lot of the students like what you can’t do that gets a lot like you just have to be able to fulfill and help people understand so I think it’s amazing to see how you’re implementing this again using clickfunnels basically split test to find out interest in a product and then what you know what what the interest is at that point you can then go ahead and actually buy it and fulfill on your for your clients I think that’s just fascinating yeah exactly and I think what’s the worst that can happen you know if there’s a larger quantity on a product that people want and a smaller quantity on a different product all you gotta do is just refund the people for the money that they they they pay for and it’s not gonna hurt them they’re gonna get their money back I love that I love your entrepreneur old I get it’s so fun for me to be working with you having something like this just to see how as again immigrant from Brazil college student newly married all the stresses of life getting you going I gotta find a way and we talked so often about you just one funnel away and it’s been neat for me to see your one funnel way story and basically how it’s providing for your family and how it’s allowing you to really pursue your dreams and your passions whether or not you do this long-term it doesn’t even matter it’s just the to see how you’re actually implementing this in your own life and again I want to congratulate your tongue under success it’s really super cool thank you really appreciate it thank you so what advice would you have for other people who are just starting off or entrepreneurs what what advice would you have for them if you have an idea that you want to pursue and you highly believe it’s gonna work you should try it and if you fail it’s not a big deal just try something else how as an entrepreneur you have so many ideas that come to your mind and what differentiates the the good entrepreneur and the one who aspires to be an entrepreneur are the actions that you take I am looking right now here right next to my my office room and about seven different products that I tried selling on Amazon that actually didn’t sell and I’m okay with that because I’m okay although you know it didn’t sell and instead of me paying for the fees I just got them back but I was willing to try it and even though I failed I learned that if I fail it I got a feel as quick as I can before I can actually find my weed and the quicker you fail sometime you’ll find a winner and then once you find it you got to devote your time and your passion for it and that’s the beauty of entrepreneurship the more times you’re willing to try the longer the more patient you are and the the more you believe in the product it will work it’s you know a lot of people say ninety ninety four ninety five percent of the ideas fail and it’s true you gotta take that into account so you got to find that ten to five percent of idea that you that will actually work you just gotta be persistence cuz it’s it’s tough but tough times they don’t last but tough people do so just work hard super super cool well I don’t you just kind of get things going itself but people are always always interesting to find out more about what you’re doing things so those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back to fun hacker radio I’m your host Dave Woodward today you just get me so I was actually yesterday I did a podcast with Kevin page and he reminded me of a topic I’ve been wanting to address for a long time and that’s the idea as far as live events so I want to kind of talked about the five reasons to attend live events and then afterwards I’m gonna give you a couple of words of caution on what to do and what not to do while you’re at a live event so understand that the majority of my relationships and friendships and everything else have come from people I’ve met at live events so there’s quite a few different reasons to attend live events and here are some of my top reasons first of all is the network the people you meet at live events are typically the doers these are people who are willing to spend money not only for the price of the ticket they also are spending money as far as travel hotel and they’re spending money as far as opportunity costs away from their business so when you weigh all of that in these are people who basically said you know what it’s worth it to me to spend this kind of time away from my business and invest as kind of money to get something out of this event so I love going to the live events because typically the people you find there are people who are the doers in your industry so I highly highly recommend number one the importance of understanding the reason of networking while you’re there number two is forced agency and scarcity in your own life and this obviously it applies one of all as far as to money I’m a huge believer in the fact that you have to invest in yourself and one of the best ways of investing yourself is investing in going to a live event second part of the urgency a scarcity aspect is the time urgency in scarcity just like when you’re going on a vacation what you’re gonna find is that you’re gonna get more done before that live event just due to the fact that there’s a deadline in place of when you’re leaving and you know you’re gonna be gone for a couple of days or weeks or whatever it might be and you’ve got to make sure that you get everything done the same thing happens when you come back you’ve now mystic two three four five days and now you’re trying to catch up and so you actually will find that you get a lot more done right around a live event as far as before and afterwards just do the urgency and scarcity of time and the aspect as far as the investment you’ve made in money the third reason is the captive audience and this is another people one and what I mean by that is you’re gonna find that typically the people who are at a live event their captive they’re not doing anything else they’re there for one reason one is to network the other reason that they’re there is to get content and everything else but typically what you’re gonna find is these people blocked out time in their daily life to attend this live event and while you’re there you’re gonna have the opportunity then of meeting with them and discussing and sharing and giving and really diving in deep I look at some of my very first live event that I went to was Yannick Silver’s underground I think it was a second one and I was so impressed by it again I had no idea about internet marketing I didn’t know anything at all what was going on but I was fascinated while I was there and the people I met I met Jeff Walker he never became lifelong friends I met Jeff what I think it was like product launch formula 2 I mean he just hadn’t done much and not many people knew of me wasn’t famously as as he is now I met Jeff Johnson I met Telma Knutson at young silver I met a whole bunch of these guys the very very beginning and all those guys have become dear friends of mine and just because they were at that live event the second live event I went to was Russell Brunson and Stu MacLaren’s under affiliate boot camp and I remember going there and I was at that point a little skeptical just as far as do people really make as much money and all this other kind of stuff and I was really struggling as far as a lot of the myths associated with the internet marketing thing gosh this had to been like I don’t know 2009 2010 2008 2009 sunlight it was first time I met Russell and one of the things I can tell you is when you’re at a live event the reason I say that people are captive is they’re there and they’re willing to share I’ve never seen it mean it’s amazing to me as far as the speakers and everybody you run into they know that they’re there for a reason and they’re so willing to share and to give and you’re gonna find that you get more out of them and you’re able to connect more with them at a live event than anywhere else their business is on hold they’re not trying to do anything else but be at the event I remember Russell got up and very beginning of their seminar gosh I had been almost 10 years ago so it was not that many people knew who Russell was or anything else and I remember he and Stu basically say hey if any of you guys want to take us out to to lunch or dinner and pick our brain just you can sign up at the back well I learned a long time ago that it’s always better to buy your way in than to work your way in and so I ran to the back and signed up for all of making all the lunches and dinners that Russell had available and he and Brett and I spend a ton of time getting to know each other at that live event and that’s become a lifelong friendship and now working relationship and has been again something I heard deeply because of the fact that they were so willing to give I was so willing to give and people were captive there they weren’t doing anything else at that live event about the live event so that’s the third thing the fourth thing is the content typically the content you’re gonna have at a live event are things that are working today right now it’s not something you read in a book it’s not something that worked years ago or hearsay what you find typically whenever you’re at a live event is that’s the most pressing stuff that’s what is cutting-edge technology it’s cutting edge learning it’s cutting edge top of your game type of stuff and so you’ll find that the content that’s typically presented at a live event will be sending the very best stuff that you can implement right away in your business and see drastic results the fifth one is really the lifelong friendships that are created and rekindled by continuing to attend live events it’s been said a million times and that is your net worth is the value of your network and I’m a huge believer in networking and it really truly building deep lasting relationships I’ve been to so many different live events gosh even the last two months I’ve been to four different live events and to me the people you meet there are people you’re gonna know for a very very long time especially if you’re willing to give and you’re willing to share and you’re thinking more about them than you you’ll find that those relationships last forever a lot of people I have interviewed on this podcast are people I have known or have met at live events Kevin Paige again is classical one I just interviewed yesterday because I met him at a live event at genius Network my relationship with Dean gracio see Joel polish I mean it all started because of attending genius Network two years ago and really deepening those relationships over time so those are the top five reasons and if you notice three of those five are all about the people it’s your network it’s the lifelong friendships it’s the captive audience aspect and realize that when you’re at a live event it’s live meaning you need to be alive you need to be who wake you need to be aware you need to be know what’s going on and you need to be giving so what I want to do is give you a couple words of caution and some words of advice having been at literally dozens of live events over the last ten years the first thing I tell you is to plan ahead find out who’s going to be there and identify what you have to offer them what is the value you can provide to those people so if you just go to live event and I mean you can go without planning but trust me if you plan ahead and get an idea as far as who the speakers are who are the presenters who are the people who are gonna be there and then as you as you get close to the event start posting on Facebook hey I’m going to this live event let me know if anyone’s gonna be out there let people if you if you do that you’re gonna have a much more productive and successful event the second thing on that same note kind of flipside is do not be a stalker there is nothing more frustrating for myself or anyone else who’s been of events and to see those basically who are just stalking people and that is you basically hone in on one person and you stalk them everywhere everywhere they turn around you’re there it just gets so annoying and it’s just not real and the most important thing it alive that is you just have to be yourself you’ve got to be real do not be a stalker number three and that is the importance really oh that’s where me to say this is if you can’t if you can level up with an intro and what I mean by that is if you know someone who knows somebody that’s always the best way of making that connection obviously you can go ahead and you can introduce itself cold but if you know someone who knows the person you’re wanting to meet if you can just ask them to introduce you it goes so far and it levels up the game it breaks down a ton of walls and barriers and it’s just so much easier and faster to do the fourth thing and that is be aware when the speakers are speaking there is nothing in the world that is more frustrating than when you’re about ready to get on stage and you’ve got people who are coming up and wanting pictures and they’re wanting to talk to you and you’re going to I’ve I’m trying to get my mojo on here I’m trying to get in my state in in my zone before I go onstage do not you’re gonna see the speakers at the back of the room typically do not go back within 30 minutes to an hour prior to their speaking and speak to them about anything the only thing it’s gonna do is create negative Karma for you so I highly caution you don’t approach speakers within an hour of their speaking let them get in their zone let what they want to do is they want to be on stage and they want to give and give and give and give and give and even though they’re in the same room as you and in the back of the room do not go back and ask for pictures do not go back and stock them do not don’t speak to him let them get in their zone I remember when Tony Robbins was and her last funnel hacking live and was interested as he came in and his state I mean he was sick as a dog with mercury poisoning we had a few minutes of time just to kind of meet him beforehand but that was real brief and then right after that you saw him literally getting in the state jumping up and down getting his literally getting in the state and I was shocked to see how he literally went from being sick as a dog pee could his guts out before he came to the event and then it was he gave and gave and gave and gave and Gabe realize all professional presenters and speakers and those people who want to be there to give they want to be in the best state they want to be able to give and they don’t want a distraction so leave them alone an hour prior to number five if it’s possible make that first introduction though prior to when they’re going to speak you’re gonna find that sometimes other members the audience don’t know who the speakers are and then after they speak and they’ve get delivered all this they get swarmed so if you can if you can have an introduction prior to that person speaking so at least know who you are when you talk to them later it doesn’t have to be a long introduction just real brief enough so they can make a connection number six and that is follow up after with the people that you meet with via text and Facebook messenger or email whichever way you decide to follow up with them do that but don’t do it the day after realize these people are just as busy as you are and what’s going to happen is give them a couple of days because what typically happens is people have their assistants everyone else really just trying to clear out as much as they can without really focusing so let people give people a couple of days before you follow up but try to follow up within three days after the event and the last thing I can tell you and that is always always always remember what’s in it for them and I cannot express that enough and that is go with the attitude of giving and giving and giving and giving and you will find that the more you give the more you help more you’re out there being genuine and being yourself and thinking of others first you I cannot express to you how much that will come back to you over time realize this is a relationship business that’s the best thing about live events is you’re able to develop deep deep relationships with people but make sure that you’re authentic make sure that you’re real make sure that you’re giving and again I really encourage you guys if you’re not attending live events there is no better investment of your time now here’s gonna be a quick commercial plug for a funnel hacking live 2018 if tickets are still available I highly recommend that you’re at our funnel hacking live event in Orlando March 21st the 24th will have 3,000 and 3,500 other funnel hackers there and the agenda is crazy off the charts amazing as far as presenters and speakers and content goes so if you’ve never attended a live event that’s the first one you need to go to if you’ve attended live events then you definitely have this on your calendar but again realize wherever you go make sure that you take a look at 2018 as its coming up this is I’m recording this at the end of November so 2018 is just right around the corner you ought to take a look at your calendar in your budget and everything else and see how many live events can you realistically get to that are a value to you and at least if nothing else commit to going to at least one ideally if you can get to two obviously that’s better but get to at least one live event this next year and if you can get to more by all means do so you’re gonna find that your relationships and your business and the people you get to know is totally gonna just launch your entire business because of live events I’m a huge huge believer in live events there’s no better way of really getting things going faster and pouring fuel on that fire to really ignite your business so take a look at your calendar for next year start looking at what live events you can attend definitely a 10 funnel hacking months or what do you out like 2.7 million is that right yeah we’re approaching three million in sales since the end of July yeah oh my gosh that is so crazy well tell people what is B and B formula to click funnels and and so basically it walks them through in two months how to get up and running and how to do it without owning any properties whatsoever you can do it using other people’s properties which is you know something no one else teaches I just I’m not kidding you the part that’s so exciting to me every time I talk to you is like you are like the poster child for expert secrets total new opportunity no exact or teaches kind of stuff there’s a million different real estate get-rich-quick quazy type of things yeah but no one’s doing this and the the funnest part to me is the fact that you don’t own any the property’s no no I don’t and that’s the crazy thing I I have gotten I mean I remember okay let me go back because I remember I was at funnel hacking live and that was what beginning of the year I don’t know what when was the last one I didn’t remember the month February it was all a blur so February I went to follow hacking live and I remember Russell saying you’re just one funnel away and I thought well that’s a really neat marketing slogan but you know I but I honestly didn’t know if I believed it at the time and holy crap I mean it’s so true it’s like you know I had created this course I took six months I’m out of my life to create this course I did a big like a launch style you know Jeff Walker style launch and promptly sold about three courses so I was like at the point where I was like okay this is this I’m gonna I don’t know if I should keep doing this or I should quit and I said you know what I know I’m gonna meet some quality people I have a feeling I I made some quality people at this this you know funnel hacking live and I went there and I just could not believe all the people everybody i sat next to was just like making you know obscene amounts of money online because I would just ask people straight up how much he making how much you making how much I was just you know I was just really rude about it and everybody was doing well and I was like I can’t believe this and then the people got on stage that were the two comic club winners and they were like I don’t know fifty of them or something it took forever I mean all these people that were like there and I thought wow this really works so maybe I’m missing something and I got the pieces I figure out what I was missing I loved it I was actually checking miles here in our office I think you were number 161 or 62 so congratulations yeah we’ve got over 175 people have now made over million dollars using clickfunnels and again I am so excited about your story because the part I love again it kind of goes back first of all a huge plug for funnel hacking live thank you if you if you have much your ticket for 2018 funnel hacking live get them because they’re going out fast you have to go I’m just telling you you have to go if you’re listening it’s it’s like ridiculous value I’m not getting paid anything to say this I’m just it changed my frickin life just the people that I met in that room it’s so worth I’m just telling you I got to go thank you and they did not tell me to say that by the way we don’t even have an affiliate program for fun of hacking life tickets no I the part I really was so impressed is you like many our other winners are just so willing to share and give and I think it’s part of the culture that we really strive to build a lot of click falls but if you don’t tell people kind of obvious you mentioned it you know it’s an eight-week online video training course but tell people about the funnel how how is your funnel set up what are you doing how you drive in traffic how do you do a million dollars in less than 60 days I mean that’s just crazy crazy numbers okay absolutely well Mike my product is a thousand dollars that’s what it costs to buy for the for the training course and when I went to the funnel hacking live I didn’t know what I was missing but I started going around asking people for their opinions and I was actually what I was doing is trying to approach only people that had the placard on that said you know they have a little ribbon around their neck that says to comic club member so I was like literally going around the room and just approaching these people hey let me tell you about what I’m doing let me get your input and I met some really really interesting people there one of them was Akbar Sheikh he was amazing and he told me he said you know dude you’ve got the coolest idea I’ve ever heard for a product of anybody here there’s no reason you shouldn’t go like immediately go make millions of dollars with this idea and but he said you’re missing one thing I said what he said you need to do a webinar and everybody kept saying webinar webinar webinar in in for higher ticket items and I heard that from the stage as well and I didn’t know what a webinar was I don’t know how to do I didn’t know how to do a webinar I’ve never done one before so I literally had to go home and figure out how to create a webinar presentation and I just literally you know I pretty much locked myself in my house and I didn’t do anything but figure out how to create that first webinar and and I had somebody reach out to me that wanted to JV with me to his list and he said I love your product this is right before I went to clickfunnels and when I came back I created the whole webinar presentation the slide it’s about an hour and a half presentation and and then I came back and this guy you know I worked with him and we did our my very first webinar ever we sold about 67 thousand dollars worth that first night and I knew right then I was like okay this is this has changed and everything now I’m off to the races and that’s exactly what that’s exactly what happened and then the floodgates opened because everybody in the real estate world all the gurus reached out to me because they’re like this is new this is something we had never seen before and I mean big names like you know I’m working with Dean Graciosa now on a regular basis and I got to I got to work with Ron Legrand who was that kind of a big you know if you guys were in real estate you know who these people are he was a big you know guy on TV and did a lot of courses back in the day and and it just everything just changed and and so my funnel to go back to what my funnel is my funnel is simply a registration for webinar they come on that webinar in its hour and a half and then it goes straight into the sales page and that’s it that’s that’s the whole thing there’s nothing else to it now I do I do include coaching calls along with the course which nobody ever does so I do a monthly live coaching call with all my students and that is included for an entire year worth of coaching calls with my course so I give a tremendous amount of value for a thousand bucks I mean it’s it’s just ridiculous because I know people can make money doing what I teach okay you know that’s one of the secrets people always forget is the fact you actually have to have a good product I think as awesome as clickfunnels is nothing is better than just having a great product an amazing hook and offer obviously and yeah the timing is just perfect I think it’s just fantastic to see and again I think the part I love as you take a look at your funnel is it’s simple it’s just there it’s simple it’s super simple people go no no no you need to have all these ups and down sales and all these cross sales and all these different ways of coming in now to plan I’m like if you take a little Brian it literally is it’s what like four pages total I mean it’s just I think it’s I think it’s three okay so they they go there there’s a short little video it says hey I’m Brian sign up for my free webinar they choose a time then it goes to the Thank You page and then that’s it and then later on they get an email and they click to the webinar and then they watch the webinar and that takes them directly a sales page to you right there are four steps and that’s it I don’t sell them I don’t sell them anything before I don’t have any small cheap end prop first at front end product I go straight into the the product but you know I can’t take credit I Ashley stole a lot of great ideas from people like ty Lopez and Sam ovens and you know other people that had done really good webinars and have done really well online I just you know even Frank Kern who I got to meet a wee about a week and a half ago I borrowed a lot of things from his webinar I just studied webinars and you know just kind of borrowed what I could and and then made it fit for my product and and clickfunnels was the framework I think it’s fantastic so how are you driving traffic I have traffic from Facebook but honestly most of my sales have come through affiliates affiliates are very very powerful and I can’t speak highly enough about affiliates because you know you can tap into other people’s lists because I didn’t have much of a list when I started so finding people in in your niche or in your I guess in your space like real estate would be my space even though it’s technically not just real estate I was able to get a few of those people on board and then they referred me to other people and then it just grew from there that’s great did you do one with Joe McCall I did do all the Jill McCall he did very well that is sofa because he actually reached out to me I remember that so he started saying you went through all these webinars only I remember Joe Joe reach out to me he’s like Dave you’ve got to connect with Brian I’m like okay actually I actually Joe sent me the replay and I had my son Parker who actually does the all my show notes from my podcast go through it and he’s like dad I want to do this so if he hasn’t purchased it he will be purchasing it shortly here he’s got some other things he’s trying to finish up first but he goes dad that’s exactly what I want to do I don’t have to own any real estate and I used to do a ton of real estate years ago a lot of flipping houses and everything else but man you have to you spent a lot of money owning these assets and you’re dealing with basically the time value of money and it’s ticking on you all the time so no I thought it was just fastening it goes dad yeah I don’t have to own any real estate and I can make six to seven figures dad do you think this is is real I’m like well first of all it came from Joe McCall so I checked I would trust Joe with my life greatest guy in the world and so I’m like it I can guarantee you if Joe would not have vouched for it if it wasn’t and I think that’s the part that’s so cool about joint ventures especially when you start working with some of the big names that you’re mentioning these are people are well known and trusted so I questions is how did you connect with these guys well you know it just started with we have you know affiliates I got a couple good affiliates on board that did well and and sold well to their to their people and to their lists and then they introduced me to more people but it was just honestly this whole funnel and click funnels and this whole a product was just the tip of the iceberg for what’s happening now because all these people started reaching out to me that just out of the blue like a company approached me and said that they were doing a TV show for Netflix and they were considering me as the host of the TV show I had I had a company reached out to me that does live event so the largest live event company around the world and they do that they do live events for people like Tony Robbins and Dean gracio see and even kevin O’Leary from shark tank is one of their biggest brands and they said we want to build a brand around you we want to do live events around the world so right now we’re doing events across the US and about to go international and and next week I’ll be filming my infomercial which will be on MSNBC ecn CNBC Fox News so I’ll have a 30-minute infomercial on TV soon I mean it’s just it’s just gone crazy and I think it’s six months I mean it’s six months like Dean Graciosa is if you guys don’t know who that is he’s a very well-known real-estate teacher and just teaches on on success and you know business and he’s partners with Tony Robbins and a lot of big people and he’s been very very generous to helping me because he’s part of that whole organization and so he’s he’s been on TV longer than anybody except Tony Robbins doing infomercials so he’s producing my infomercial and that’s gonna lead in a whole nother funnel which will be live event funnel so so now the product is going into live events and that’s gonna be called be and be wealth so you can see how I’m just I’m owning the B&B name being B term and I’ve just kind of planted my flag I’m the guy if you’re into short-term rentals short term vacation properties Airbnb I’m the guy and it’s it’s been a whirlwind and and I think it’s just it’s been exciting and it’s all happened very very quickly but keep mine I did work on this quite a while before I ever made any real money with it so lest anybody think that they can do this in 60 days without having put in the work in the time it doesn’t work that way you do have to actually go create a quality product and do all those things ahead of time but I’m telling you the funnel is the answer the funnel is where it’s at you know I absolutely gosh everybody said there I’d be totally echo I it’s fun I I’ve known Dean for quite a few years now we’ve become really dear friends and we actually are working with Dean probably in 2018 okay the first clickfunnels infomercial so we’re looking at Bill yeah that’s infomercials is interesting because very few people are doing them anymore they’re not there’s not as it’s not as crowded as a space as it used to be and so in and yes a lot of people are not watching TV anymore but still it still works there are still plenty of people that are on TV and you can do these infomercials for less than you ever could in the past and they work they just absolutely work that is so cool we actually are working with him actually his team when you’re referring to does the live events on creating a live event funnel you utilize some click funnels so being able to write so you might be one of the guinea pigs I don’t we’ll have it done in time for yours rolling out but no we’ve actually been toying around with that utilizing funnels basically from the infomercial or from radio or TV ads going directly into the funnel either through text or phone call or email or else or message or a whole bunch different things we’re looking at playing around with so it’s wow fascinating fascinating space live events are it’s kind of one of us again I’ve seen the cycle of live I was talking to Dean about this event at genius Network and just to see how everything comes and goes and live events were just dead for like gosh like from 2009-10 to like 2014-15 and now they’re starting to really come up and I mean we’re seeing the same thing in just in the Abed space it’s just it’s fascinating to see how people are trying to do different you know some unique things in in the live event space and also from radio and TV and it’s we were working with Brendon Bouchard on some other things that he’s doing so it’s it’s again it’s fascinating love seeing the funnel especially when you start looking in at the live event space obviously it always comes – you know what’s your cost require customer and what’s your average cart value – the main metrics we always pay a ton of attention to and so I’ll be very very interested in continuing to talk to you more about what your cost is to acquire customer and what your average cart value is on that as well for the B&B wealth that’s gonna be really a a new product we hopefully will have a you could be one of our first eight figure comic eight figure members here so I think you’ll you’ll crush it with that it’s gonna be a really fun have fun space well that’s interesting that you say that because we were actually just talking about that recently because I’m gonna be doing a launch so next year my product won’t be available all the time it’ll actually be a launch like or like what I tried the first time that didn’t work and so we’ll get everybody on board and we’ll pick one date and that’ll be the date that we promote you know a huge huge huge event and I think it will be I think it will be pretty big I mean we’re we got some of the people on board that that helped with amazing selling machine and that that did like I heard they did hundreds of millions of dollars and sales I don’t know if that’s true but they did a ridiculous amount in sales yeah it will actually wrap it crush yeah yeah yeah absolutely and some other some other big people as well Jason I got to see at at the event that genius Network so yeah so we’re we’re hoping that this is kind of like you know what amazing selling machine was for Amazon this could be for Airbnb and for Home Sharing and that’s kind of the direction we’re trying to go in so it’s very very exciting it’s it’s something that people want it’s something that people you know they know they can make money but they don’t really know how to build a big business doing this and so that’s that’s kind of where I step in I love it well as we get close to wrapping things up here what advice would you have for those people who are listening ok the advice I would tell you is that your network is your net worth I’ve heard that that’s not a quote I made up that’s what I’ve heard but it’s so true and everything changed for me when I changed my network and by that I mean the people that I know the people that I can personally call on the phone and these are the people that I met at the funnel hacking live event and I never would be able to meet those people get them on the phone have them help me give those breakthroughs that I needed unless I went there and actually met them and so you first of all need to get in front of a bunch of people a bunch of – comma Club members people that are successfully making money online you can do that at the at that event that we’re talking about which is coming up here in a few months and you’ll get to meet them and then you can get distinctions I mean I learned things at that event from successful people that were just like one or two aha moments where I’m like oh if I do that then I’ll breakthrough and that’s exactly what happened for me so I would say your network is very very very important and in getting those people getting to know those people and and there’s a great way to do that is live and then of course you know using a click funnel so you know using something to build everything on don’t try to get complicated and model other people look at exactly other people what they’re doing that works look at what I’m doing I mean I don’t carry funnel funnel hack me look at what I’m doing with my webinar and use the same thing in fact somebody just sent me an email and said somebody just copied your your webinar Brian that looks exactly like your your format and they’re selling a different product that’s okay I copy it’s a healthy that’s just the way it works right I mean I’ve seen people now that have used several people that have used the same verbage in the same style that I use and that’s fine I don’t care it’s it’s you know like Steve Jobs says you know good artists copy great artists steal Steve Jobs can say that that I’m sure we can all borrow heavily and and so that’s what I would say model people and build your network start meeting people personally and getting to know them and and invest in yourself I mean I spent a good chunk of money with some experts to learn from them and not only with clickfunnels and going to the events but also just individuals that could teach me things quickly I wanted to buy speed I was the brother have somebody give me download all their information years of knowledge into my head in a matter of a few days and get that speed then to figure it out on my own and so I’ve invested tens of thousands of dollars in myself and I think that’s very important as well man those are like awesome three secrets there first of all obviously number one network is your net worth number to attend live events and number our pre-show here so if you guys are gonna love this let me introduce you guys wanted to my dear friends Chris Brewer please welcome to the show hey thanks des it’s awesome to talk to you again and connect with your awesome funnel hacking audience this is so much fun for me because Chris and I’ve known each other for gosh a long long time I mean I’ve it’s been at least five seven ten years I don’t know how long it’s been but it’s been so fun we’ve known each other and as well as his business partner Brett curry but Russell and he have done business years ago and I think the fun part is I mean if we see each other at events we’ve been talking about getting on the show your schedules crazy cuz you work with agencies and clients and met your daughter actually have your daughter on our show but I’m super super excited to have you here so again Chris welcome so much thank you very much and see that’s one of those things as you get older your kids start pre-empting you so like she got topped bill thing it’s kind of follow behind I’ll pick up the leftover that’s how it’s gonna end up I think well the part I’m most excited about is just seeing the evolution of your business we were talking just briefly here about I mean so for those you guys don’t know Chris and Brett and their agency these guys have been this is like traditional old school ad agency that’s gone totally new age and based on all the direct response marketing experience they have these guys are just crushing it with their for their clients and now used to be I believe here as we were talking earlier Chris you were kind of focus more on traffic and conversion agency and now you’ve renamed that tagline to a full funnel agencies that right yeah it’s we’ve we’ve gone on a come a long long way and it is kind of funny you talking about kind of that traditional agency because how we really got into this business I’m we owe Russell a big credit for that because we were at one of those old bill glazier Dan Kennedy events that Russell was speaking at and Brett and Russell connected and Russell saw that we had our own local kind of traditional agency and we had a little mastermind and Brett essentially became the poster child of a launch that we did and dealt with thousands of people and helping them start their own agencies and we did that for about five years and then click funnels came along and Russell went his way and it’s just boomed and we went our way and we’ve just boomed and so it’s been a whole lot of fun and yeah we we had the tagline a traffic and conversion agency and I’ll say we had that tagline Dave before it was an event we didn’t have to like forcefully change our tagline or anything so we decided to change it to a full funnel agency and and not having anything to do really with like building funnels necessarily but more of the mindset and approach that we want our clients to have when they’re trying to drive traffic and and make sales click funnels is is just a tool I think you and Russell would agree with that it’s it’s a tool and if you don’t utilize it in the right way and you don’t decide what your strategy is going to be then you’re gonna have kind of results that you’ve seen that that others have seen where it’s it’s ready fire aim brand ready fire aim usually results in oh I tried those that guys or I tried this agency it was terrible or you know we did this direct mailing and it was a complete bomb because he didn’t have the whole approach figured out so that’s what we’re doing now is taking that full funnel approach and here’s what that means Dave it means we’re not gonna just let a client or a business rely on one traffic strategy do you remember Dave back in the day when Russell had his little traffic strategies and I think he had this like silver USB black case and it was packed with all these incredible and those were great and creative but what I know is a lot of your listeners right now you tell me if I’m wrong but a lot of your listeners are making money off of one traffic source oh my gosh we literally had this conversation well so I did just the other day and we were actually talking about how many companies and businesses literally are at the mercy of Zuckerberg yeah it whether it’s Zuckerberg or its Bezos yeah or it’s you know who owns Google these days I’m Larry Page it still involves a degree but you know whether if you just put all of your stakes in one area you’re at the you’re at the mercy and I and we saw this with Amazon a couple of years ago in Amazon still dealing with some of this churn where everybody got on board and sell your products on Amazon and then all it took was a few competitors to leave bad reviews on your product and the algorithm would tank you and you’re out of business if you don’t have other strategies that’s one of the things a lot of most business owners don’t understand is the importance really of having you know everyone always talks about diversifying your income but the most important thing here is diversifying your traffic source yes a hundred percent now that that doesn’t mean that we want to take somebody away from an area that is bringing them in solid reliable revenue but it’s been very fascinating this year as we’ve exhibited at the traffic and conversion summit as we exhibited it irce the Internet Retailer conference and Expo in Chicago we exhibited at content and commerce what happened this year different from other years is people are finally getting this that I’m doing okay over here but I don’t want to have all my eggs in one basket and they understand their audiences really well on Facebook but they have no idea what Google is all about and and even worse many of them have never even looked at something that these days a lot of people just think doesn’t work anymore but there’s still incredible opportunity on SEO which can be a traffic source so that you know you’d be a may it’s amazing at times I get on calls with people that contact us and I’ll do a little bit of SEO research before the call and I’ll say to them let me guess your woman’s sheepskin jacket is your number one seller and they go how did you know that and I’ll go well you ranked number two on Google for it and it gets 65 points a month and they’ll say oh I had no idea so whether it’s SEO or it’s it’s YouTube ads it’s it’s true of you it’s shoppable true of you it’s it’s remarketing building your remarketing lists for search ads all this stuff that maybe your listeners are like holy cow what did he just say what’s all that and what do I need to know about it it’s really taking it a little bit slower and looking at how can I look at my full funnel how can I go from a place like Facebook where in many cases Dave it’s an impulse buy and it’s an all spy because of clickfunnels in many cases the ability to position a product in an excellent way and guide the person through the purchase because on facebook if they see I don’t know Dave named me named me a funny product or a product that that maybe one of your people that you work with uses give me a product we’re just looking at a it’s a fat loss jellybeans oh my gosh that’s perfect so you’re on Facebook and you’re scrolling through and and and let’s say that that you’re like me you’re like you’re like me a year ago which I’m not like this today but you’ve gained like 20 pounds and you’re you’re sitting in this agency world of at the desk every single day and you can’t even walk 18 holes anymore and so you’re scrolling down and you’re looking at diet shakes and you’re looking at videos and all of a sudden fat the fat loss jellybeans are you kidding me I can eat candy and lose weight click I land on this incredible funnel with full-color and showing a video there with some guy talked about he he ate six jelly beans a day and lost 20 pounds how much is it I don’t care let me buy it it’s an it’s an impulse buy but carry that over to Google and now we’re in a whole nother universe because suddenly people are now searching they’re typing in weight loss ideas diets for losing 20 pounds how do I lose 20 pounds before a wedding you know all of these different searches and then they get presented with all kinds of results and they may see the jelly bean they may see the old South Beach Diet maybe they see another kind of diet there so they start researching and then they’re comparing prices they’re looking at reviews it’s a whole nother cycle which is brings us back to that full funnel that if you’ve got a good YouTube channel with some content about your fat loss jelly bean and what people have to say about it doesn’t mean that they’re gonna purchase it right away but if we get them to spend enough time on our YouTube video then we can put them into a YouTube remarketing audience where we can then show them other content that’s gonna take them deeper into our funnel we can present them with search ads that are going to maybe bring them a little bit further down our our funnel and and we can look at other sources like Google Shopping is is is their competition on Google Shopping which used to be called PLA s product listing ads so all of those depending on the budget you know how large your budget is we’ll determine how big our top of our funnel will be but essentially it’s like old-school branding which Brett and I both used to be kind of anti branding when it came to small businesses cuz you didn’t have Nike money right well guess what the Internet makes it possible to not have Nike level branding opportunity but to get pretty darn close within your niche pretty darn close within your market to be able to be everywhere and move people down that purchasing cycle that’s why Dave Google has been hammering us we’re a a Google premier partner which just means we’re in the top 3% of all the agencies that Google works with and they’ve been saying Chris Brett take take your clients off of last click attribution so on Facebook the last click attribution would be they saw the Facebook ad they went to the funnel they clicked purchase that’s where the traffic came from and what Google’s wanting us to do is to change that around from last click to more of what we call a time decay model which means they could have watched your YouTube video they could have clicked on the Facebook ad hit that funnel you could have pixeled them but then they didn’t buy they came back in through a Google search ad and then bought through another channel and then Google we can show our customers on the back end how we can allocate those various forms of traffic that all fall into the things that that that are making their sales so I’ll just take a breath there because I know that’s a lot to take in but that in a nutshell is kind of that having that strategy in that that mindset Chris that’s crazy that’s I mean that’s totally totally cool stuff yeah we think it we think it’s pretty cool that we think I think again so so many times people think just you know Facebook facebook facebook or you know I’m all-in on Amazon or Shopify or whatever they might be but think it’s just amazing to see how by really later excuse me layering different types of traffic you actually can really overcome a ton of the problems most people face whenever there comes to driving traffic to their site is yeah being able to get people wherever they are whether it is on YouTube it might be on Facebook it might be on Google but being there in a way that actually makes sense to the customer where you they just fall into your lap I think it’s fantastic a hundred percent and let me give your listeners maybe a little little fun test they could do just to me cuz maybe somebody’s out there today and saying hey look I’m I’m doing forty fifty sales a day I’m killing it on Facebook I don’t have the time to go into other channels hey that’s okay but at least maybe you want to start preparing and at least see what it would look like so if you take a look at like here’s here’s an idea and this and this is something that we’ve been experimenting with and I can tell you it’s showing real promise is take your click funnel and make sure you’ve got your Google Analytics installed on your click funnel which most people know that’s a pretty easy thing to do make sure you’ve got a privacy policy in terms of service on the click funnel that talked about how you’re going to use cookies and things like that so you’re compliant with Google’s remarketing policies make sure you have demographics and interest retargeting on our interest category set up on your Google Analytics and these are all things if your listeners are curious about it they can contact me we’ll give that information at the end it’s pretty basic stuff once you know where to go and do it but just set up those those things then you can run traffic from Facebook so let’s take the fat loss jellybeans we’re going to all have to be careful in talking about my audience targeting here Dave but let’s just say it’s it’s that and so let’s say that we’re gonna I won’t pick on women so let’s say we’re gonna target 55 year old guys who drink a lot of beer right and and like to go fishing and they’re NASCAR guys so that’s gonna be our our Facebook audience well we know that in facebook very straightforward how to pull that audience together or maybe we’ve uploaded a list and done a similar audience but we really don’t know what Google says about those folks so here’s what you do you set up this separate funnel that has your analytics tracking on it you run your Facebook traffic to that funnel then after enough time and you get enough data then you go into your Google Analytics and you look at what does Google say about the demographics of that Facebook audience what does Google say are the interest categories that those men are interested in and and then what also are they in the market searching for so those are all three things the end market targeting if you’re not familiar with it it’s actual the last two weeks of things that people have been searching for and you can get killer results if you if you really tuned that in but one of the things is just content so so if you find that Google tells you that out of these 55 year old sports enthusiasts beer drink and NASCAR guys that they love country music let’s say and travel those are two things that they’re interested in well if we don’t have content on our Facebook page about guess what country music and travel we’re we’re missing out on an engagement opportunity I want you to touch on engagement opportunities because I think that’s one things people just glance over and don’t realize the importance of that so define a little more what you might engagement objects I think it’s one of these you guys do amazingly well well it’s it’s taking a step back from the winds that we get every day when we’re selling products using a funnel for instance and when we when we have maybe some easy wins or we we have a really great funnel that we put together that if we if we miss the step of how are we going to really build our brand then you’re going to end up in being a lot shorter cycle business or product than you would like to be because people want to buy from brands they want to buy from things that they’re comfortable with and things that they’ve heard of and so yes you can get the impulse buy but if you’re just sending people Tennessee volunteer fans to a click funnel page that’s selling the Tennessee Volunteers Monopoly game guess what you’re gonna make a lot of sales initially but if you want to go back next year and sell those same audiences that game forget about it but if you’ve engaged with those Tennessee volunteer fans at their level on the things that they enjoy and they’d like to read about and that you’re segmenting those audiences appropriately guess what just about any other product that you come out with that suits the interests of that audience they’re gonna share they’re gonna tell their friends about it they’re gonna purchase it and and that’s where to if you missed a whole branding and engagement side of it you’re gonna have a lot tougher climb when you get to Google because the nice thing is when we take people off of Facebook that have solid brand awareness and solid search volume about their products or the things that they’re talking about it’s pretty easy to do branded campaigns on Google where you have low cost per click and you can get some some easy quick wins there so it’s really that’s where we turn down clients if they come to us and they don’t have their funnel figured out and they really don’t have much engagement with their audience you can have a great product but if we don’t have the following you’ve got some work to do before you’re really ready to jump in and run 5 10 15 20 30 thousand dollar-a-month campaigns I love that I think it’s so critical I get this connected you got kind of offline we’re talking about the this whole one-trick pony type of funnel mm-hmm and I think it’s part that’s why the engagement is so critical better you engage with your customers and your and those people who are just even interested in what you’ve got the better it is for you when you come back to remarket and retargeting and other things because they’ve already established that relationship that’s where that rapport comes from and I just again you guys do such a great job with your clients it’s just been fun to watch well I mean we see it all the time and we had this guy it was a client I won’t i won’t say their name because he he is a super nice guy and he had Facebook audiences that were just killing it for him great margins but he he didn’t have like a product that was that unique I mean you could Google this product and you could find it cheaper on other sites he had just found some audiences on Facebook and he ran he basically ran through those audiences and he did extremely well and that’s one of the scary things about audiences this way is he was up to a $30,000 spend per month and was just making all kinds of Bank and then all of a sudden those CPAs went through the roof sales went way down and he thought it was a Facebook algorithm change but really what happened was people realized one the product wasn’t that great – I can find at other places and three you haven’t connected with me through email Instagram Facebook blogs videos on YouTube – tell me who you are I was just interested in this cool zoom camera lens that would fit onto my mobile phone but I don’t have any loyalty to you because you haven’t inspired me or told me anything about your story or how you were a struggling college student that decided one day that you wanted to get a store on Amazon and how you succeeded and now you want to bring these cool innovative products to the market that’s somebody I want to come back and buy – but if it’s if it’s just something I can google and find somewhere else and you don’t have a story behind it I mean that’s what Russell’s been so great about I mean I mean gosh how many years is he Road the potato gun humor yeah you get a good story you can ride it for a long time no I think that’s all it takes is one good story as you just show it basically by the other thing it’s is people especially these taste it kind of goes back to your thing you’re talking about far as branding you know years ago all of us who are in the direct response marketing game just poo-pooed the whole concept as far as branding you know the Nike story you were talking about but these days just because people want to buy from people they need to know like and trust it’s you are your brand or how you portray your image and everything else I think it’s so critical these days that as you’re engaging with people that they again they know like and trust you that’s the whole name of the game so I think it’s pretty cool I you guys have done that and the question to ask your buyers is how do they use my product how does it benefit or improve their lives and if you can answer just those questions then you have the keys to how you can go back and extract that information from your customers and allow them to be your brand builders one great example of that is a client we have called friendship collar and if you if you want to really add to your emotional bank account with your significant other go to friendship collar check out these products there it’s really cool it’s not just a dog or a cat collar it’s matching collars so like Dave you’d have a bracelet that’s like black and gold with little diamonds on it and your boxer has a black and gold collar with diamonds on it and so these guys did something really smart they asked the people who are buying their product to post pictures on Instagram of them with their pet who doesn’t want to take a picture with them in their pet and so they got flooded on Instagram with people here’s the thing you see the picture this is hilarious yeah I mean it’s what and what a great idea but but here’s the problem if they didn’t take that step where we’re branching them out onto Google right now but if they hadn’t taken that step on Instagram you know how hard it would be to get people to get oh yeah it’s it’s like a custom dog collar and it’s you know you it’s matched and so your cat has one and you have one well that’s really hard because what people are gonna search for on Google is dog collar cat collar you know there’s gonna be very little search for custom dog collar and so now you know we’re able to take their their interest and the audience that they’ve built and we think they’re you know they’re gonna have a pretty good shot on on Google in a lot of different ways so that’s just a couple of questions you can ask and and then ask those questions and then produce content that you can easily produce and get your audience to share for you I love it well into the show there’s two things we were talking about I want to dive into this is some of the things you’re already doing with existing clients and funnels and one of this is the whole gift card sale do you mind explaining what that is and and why it’s just crushing it yeah this is just one particular client I’m not gonna share the name or the category because really quite frankly their competitors could jump on this and I wouldn’t want them to but this is a company that every year has a gift card sale you’ll right before the holidays and they’ve got a pretty substantial size email list it’s over a half a million and that right there is enough for anybody who does business with other companies or has a large email list that they’re not utilizing like this to really pay attention so they had this existing email list that they’d only used for email and they had used Facebook ads in the past and they had always done really well well this client hired me to come in and consult on this particular project and of course I got them to join up with clickfunnels I introduced them to how this could be a complete game changer for them and so they built their whole gift card sale through clickfunnels and I made sure and this was just funny because I know about the power of upsells but Russell had some piece oh you know what it was your video launch it was the video launch and Russell was talking about the one thing that just by adding the people that added the upsell just always did so much better than everybody else so I made sure I said you guys got to have an upsell and so $100 was their biggest discount where people get 50% off the gift card if they spend a hundred bucks in the past hardly anybody would spend $100 they’d all buy at the 25 or $50 level but we put an upsell in to allow them to get to the hundred dollar level and they did a quarter of a million dollars in sales in one week which was a 71 percent increase over last year’s sales is crazy I mean I look it’s these little tiny things so this little one-time up sale gets a 71 percent lift I mean that’s just huge right so what I help my client learn on this is just because you have this large email list that you’ve just always used to to email doesn’t mean you can’t radically shift how you’ve connected with them and so they’re radical shift was introducing a funnel into an annual sale that they’ve always done one way and of course we uploaded that entire email list to Facebook and to Google which most there’s still people that don’t know you can do that and do custom audiences in Google which helped us just make sure we were in front of that audience over that short one-week period and that’s that’s very solid information for people to really think about because I had another client just real quickly it’s kind of a fun one and I’ll give people a chance to hear these guys music for free if they want to but Branson Missouri got all these shows and entertainers and there’s there’s one show called the hey goods and it’s like this family of six or seven brothers and once and they can play all these instruments and they they’re just incredible entertainers well they wanted to chart their own course without signing with a record label and they wanted to grow their audiences outside of just that Branson Missouri show and over the years they had collected nearly a million pieces of data email addresses names and addresses which you can put into Facebook we took all that data we use Chris Lang who I know you guys work with to to scrub that list down and clean it up and we ended up sending that out well we got through the click funnel as well our offer was to download their album for free and get it on iTunes and Shopify so guess what they’ve seen bigger numbers on iTunes and they’ve ever had bigger numbers on Spotify they got 5,000 new email opt-ins in a three-week period and ended up inviting our whole company town to see their Christmas show which was pretty cool and their whole idea was they wanted to be able to mind their data and find out do we have fans in st. Louis and Dallas and other places that we can give our album to for free build that data and then run ads in a st. Louis Market when we want to go and do a one-night concert and sell out and make a lot of money and come home well we just launched their st. guys come over cheers okay this is uh we’re gonna try and pull this together for a long time after this is a tough than I’ve been wanting to do I have a lot of questions recently so this is actually gonna be on we’re doing this as a video so it’s utter lack of radio with a podcast so the audio will be on our other iTunes channels and everything else the YouTube will be on funnel hacker TV and this is actually going live right now if a group so if there’s questions I’ll try to be bouncing back and forth between pages see if I get the questions answered but one of the main things I get asked all the time right now and that is people are always saying you know guys there’s so much going on as far as click photos and photo strips what’s final scripts how does final scripts work how can I use it and I thought the only way I can actually do justice to that is by actually bringing Jim on Glen talk about funnel scripts how you can actually use it as a funnel hacker and more importantly some of the cool things that he’s been adding recently one of which is a podcast platform which i think is just awesome since this actually being on a podcast so with all that Jim welcome to the show well thanks for having me Dave I’m excited yes it took us a little while to get this done but we got it done and this was the preordained time that you and I should be here together talking about this and I just hope it is actually going in live that’s my only question and if it’s not I’m gonna just go post it later but anyways so let’s just dive right in and says it’s going live on Facebook and I am assuming that that is actually doing just that so with all that said I want to just cut right into this Jim and say how do foreign scripts come about funnel scripts came about because I know from doing online stuff for the last 20 years and and I used to teach people how to create websites back in the day of making them what mozilla and doing HTML and i know for a once you teach somebody how to put up a site the the next thing they got to do is figure out ok what words are gonna go on the site and back in the day you could do that with just education and whatnot but the world has changed and then when I saw click funnels and click funnels taken off and then I read Russell’s book here it is when I read comm secrets and I had seen Russell on on a cruise and and you know we had we’d seen each other and kind of connected there and I said dang every single one of these things I said I can I can turn all of these scripts into software and literally I know that because I already done it with some other stuff I said I can turn all these scripts into software so literally all anybody would have to do is just fill out a form whack a button copy and paste and put it right over into their funnel and so I made I actually took several of them and I turned them into scripts and then I contacted Russell I said dude your book is awesome and I got an idea I want to show you something he’s like oh yeah ok but but but then he gave me he he gave me a chance to show him what what I had and then he got all excited he’s like you mean to tell me that we can and I said yes so when we and I’m summarizing like many months of back and forth and stuff but when we first started with funnel scripts we had one downloadable wizard we had the perfect webinar wizard and we had 19 online scripts and so we fast forward now this is coming up on two years now with funnel scripts we have over 40 online scripts and we have now 6 downloadable Wizards that will do everything from help you create your amazing complete perfect webinar that’ll create your vs ELLs it’ll create surveys that take star story solution it creates the master class out of the expert secrets book and of course the one that we have just released today in fact or yesterday in fact I haven’t even had a chance to announce the replay yet but it is posted and we have introduced the podcast and FB live interview wizard which makes it super easy for you to do amazing interviews with people you literally just fill out 16 questions and one of them’s your name and the others your website so it’s really only 14 questions you have to think about and you whack that button and it will create for you a dozen different interviews it will create all of your marketing materials your emails your facebook posts your Facebook ads it even writes the email teasers and and even writes the thank-you email to send to the person that you interview so that right there basically helps you to do amazing interview videos like what we’re doing here on Facebook interviews for your podcast it cuts out the four hours of prep time what’s called show prep that it takes for most people to put together on average that’s how long it takes to do all the stuff to create your show notes to create your ads to create your interview questions to create your emails to create your teasers all these things and literally reduces it down to 10 minutes and so that’s that’s basically how the the podcast and FB live interview wizard goes but you know that’s um then it’s your question about and how we got started with funnel scripts the great thing about working with Jim is just say one thing and it just goes and goes and goes it goes you don’t have to say anything else yeah I was told he does a child add a big mouth but then I told my mom you know one time I was speaking from the stage and said how’s that motor mouth working out now mom yeah that’s working out okay there you go so no honestly I think that part only because I had the opportunity of seeing the wizardess you were created for the podcast and it is a huge huge huge blessing for anybody’s doing podcast but more important that I love how original was just gonna be podcast it’s now also for Facebook live right and I think that’s the part that people have to understand is it’s actually a lot of people don’t know exactly what to say or how to do gets things started or all that and the best thing I love about scripts is it takes out all of the writer block type of problems that most people have it’s right which is always the hardest part is just getting started the hardest thing the hardest thing that you will ever look at is a blank blinking cursor taunting you like hey got a ride an email teaser right blink blink blink hey got a write a sales letter blink blink blink and the hardest draft is the first draft and so what funnel scripts does no matter whether you’re trying to create an email sequence mean we just added an email onboarding sequence that writes an 11 email sequence for you 11 emails in order to onboard something – anything from software to a physical product to a service to coaching to a home-study course doesn’t matter total onboarding sequence for you and it the the hardest draft is always a first draft and so what funnel scripts does is it creates that first draft for you based on proven I mean proven sales copy or email templates or video sales letter templates on templates that we know on scripts we know produce results and instead of you having to learn the script and then learn the language and then type from scratch it takes from your head you type it in you whack the button it puts it into the proven formulas and it spits it out for you so all you have to do is just edit it and then put it over into your click funnels funnel it couldn’t be any easier unless I came to your house filled it out for you while you made me my favorite lunch and I charged you a thousand dollars an hour well if you don’t mind let’s just dive right in can we share your screen just show people some of this cool stuff sure and we’ll talk through those people who listen on the audio will make sure you guys can understand some of the stuff that Jim is showing you so you guys didn’t aren’t missing out on any of this stuff as well okay so are you seeing my screen right yeah okay so basically with funnel scripts the way we have it organized is as soon as you pull up you you come into the dashboard and when you’re new to funnel scripts or if you have been using funnel scripts but you haven’t seen this yet you need to watch the quick start video and the quick start video just explains the mechanics of how all of the online scripts work and also how the downloadable scripts work then we have something that really should be your first stop anytime you’re looking to do something with funnel scripts and it’s the funnel scripts blueprints and training and basically what this does is it lays out for you the main funnels that anybody’s going to use and then you have click-through access to the exact click or funnel scripts that you need to build that part of your funnel so if you’re doing a product sales funnel of course every one of your pages needs a headline so you can just click right on through to the headline script if you want to use a PowerPoint opt-in video script then you can click on that or if you want to use the lead capture script or if you want to use the the call to action script then on your sales page or your OTO page we have all these different scripts that will help you create long sales letters short sales letters PowerPoint vs LS v sls that you can use like russell does talking directly into the camera so we have all of these in here so one of the questions I get is hey Jim I just signed up for funnel scripts and which scripts should I use and my question is well what kind of funnel are you making because that’s going to dictate which funnel script you actually use and I will tell you there are a few that everybody needs to use pretty much for everything like the headline script so if you come down here we actually have three different headline scripts – for sales letters and one for content my favorite is the killer headline script because this is the one where it just makes a amazing headline super super fast and we have on a lot of the scripts we have individual instructional videos and stuff we also have example projects so that you can instead of having to stare at a blank again just filling out the blanks which by the way is as easy as we can make it because we give you prompts and examples but you can click on many of these we have examples so if you had an info product even if you didn’t have a stock investing course you could click on this example for the stock investing info product and it will automatically populate all of these blanks so that you can see how somebody else used it and then you can say okay well my target Aviance is not a beginner investor it’s a funnel hacker or or whatever it is so our number one keyword topic stock investing pic winning stocks so it all you have to do is just basically go through and answer the questions and and it makes it even easier because we give you the prompts you know when you may wave your magic wand how fast they get the big payoff you can get results automatically quickly instantly so makes it super easy then you click build and it’ll show you what you put in and then it will give you in this case it gives you a whole bunch of different output now if you read Russell’s book which I’m holding up which I guess nobody can see but if you read Russell’s book one of the things that he teaches you in dot-com secrets is the difference between hot warm and cold traffic and for those of you paying attention at home it’s on page 119 ok and so hot one cold traffic you’ll understand the difference between that is basically they know about you and your product they know there’s a solution out there or they have no idea there’s a solution all they know is they have a problem so one of the ways to get really much better conversion is to use hot warm or cold headlines based on the temperature your traffic and just as an aside we all know from paying attention to Russell that the way to make a whole lot of money is to be able to convert warm and cold traffic with or with with paid ads that’s how you create a killer scalable business so what we can do here in this part I’m and I’ll point out down below there’s like a hundred hundred fifty different headlines down here but they can all start looking the same so what I like to do we have a neat little thing built in here where you can just click this and every time you click it it’ll load a different headline so what you can do is use this to see which one grabs your grabs your attention so let’s say we’re going after warm traffic so let’s like new iron a double-digit return on your stock investments without losing money on stocks fast or today or so that it’ll load different little now so you know pick more money you can start losing money on stocks watch this free video that reveals how you can getting an unfair advantage with picking winning stock and avoid losing money so here’s a quick way to pick more money-making stocks I like this one so what I would do is just add that to the clip bin and or I can just copy and paste it right there by clicking that button I can go right over into funnel scripts and I can I don’t have I don’t have click funnels open but I can literally just paste that into my text editor here so except for Jim what things love is the fact as far as not hot warm and cold and that ability to be able to identify your audience is a lot of things a lot of people struggle with as far as who actually am I speaking to and you’re writing able the scripts to be able to identify that I also want to make sure if you guys have questions go ahead an put it down in the comments and I’ll make sure that we get this answer for those you guys who follow us on Facebook as well yeah the big thing is that what funnel scripts does is it helps you to overcome one of the biggest challenges that that people have when they’re writing sales copy and that is when you need to come up with a headline you have a situation where and I’ll come back to this but I want you guys to hear me and pay attention when I’m saying most people struggle to come up with good headlines most people struggle to come up with good bullets and calls to action and stuff like that and so what happens is once you just finally get one you’re so excited cuz you finally got a headline that you don’t want to have to think up more so you’re like okay I got this headline I’m gonna show this puppy to everybody this is the headline okay and it either works or it doesn’t but it’s like oval is working kind of good or or whatever and that’s the problem is that you need to be able to come up with a bunch of different types add lines and different versions of headlines so you can test them because this is a fact of life with with funnels the the first version of the funnel you come out with is is not the one that’s going to make you all the money I’ve only ever had one headline in 20 years be a headline I could never beat through testing and so the great thing about what funnel scripts does is that it helps you not only come up with the different traffic temperature headlines but it helps you come up with different variations so you can test them so because that’s where the money’s made is is in getting it in there and then testing different versions and incrementally improving it and that’s one of the reasons why I love click funnels so much is because they make testing so easy because you can just copy and paste into a couple different versions and and boom you’re done so that’s I just want to I just wanted to really point that out that the headlines most important thing that’s why we take so much time and this this one we’ve spent just tons of time on and we’re updating it and we’re adding more headline scripts and stuff but that’s one of the great things about funnel scripts is it makes it easy for you to test different things headlines bullets calls to action all these different things instead of just saying you know I’m gonna kill myself to come up with this one it’s like holy crap glad that’s over and and then you never touch it in then you wonder why you’re breaking even or losing money well Jim I think the cool thing obviously the headlines are fantastic but if you take a look at some of the other crazy stuff that gets created is you actually like for the perfect webinar your whole webinar you guys I mean you creates like the whole webinar yes the the perfect here I’ll share my screen again this is so awesome so the the cool thing about this is one of the other things and and this was something that Russell introduced and and if you look up at the top we have all these scripts from experts secrets which is Russell’s second book which I told him I thought was actually better than the first book but and he agreed with me otherwise I wouldn’t have said that but um one of the things that he teaches is this whole progression of scripts so you know the who wet statement script the opportunity switch headline ask campaign the Masterclass the big domino five curiosity hooks epiphany bridge and then the perfect webinar is really how you take all of these things that he teaches in that book and and you turn it into this wonderful totally effective sales machine that can take someone who has never sold before or never sold successfully before or has struggled and gives you the framework to be able to just put together a presentation that slays it for anybody and the cool thing that this and this is one of the six downloadable Wizards that we have but basically what they here and I’ll open it up but the perfect webinar wizard basically walks you through step by step by step exactly what Russell teaches in the experts secrets book and it’ll probably take you about an hour to go through and answer this answer all the questions and stuff but I want you to think about this most people we talked to when they say oh I got to put together a perfect webinar it takes him at least a week I mean Russell even says when he’s putting it together takes at least a week crazy amount of time you can equip them this wizard is just I mean it puts everything out for you and then it actually puts it also down under the Year PowerPoint or keynote exactly so I’ll show you what a couple things that it can do if you want um but we had a couple of guys tell us that we in fact we did a whole case study on them that basically they were able to take this and create a six-figure business our six figures worth of sales by just using this wizard to create the webinars and they’re selling they’re teaching people how to mix music they’re teaching musicians how to mix mixed music so this isn’t just something where you learn all this was just a show make money stuff no this is to see if you have something that solves a problem satisfied as a desire for people then you can create an amazing webinar to to help people to be able to get what they want so basically once you’ve filled out the blanks okay and and the cool thing we have now Russell taught about the perfect webinar in the first comm secrets book and then he in the experts secrets book he really expanded upon it and made it even more awesome and so what I did was I went back and I added all the distinctions that he made in the experts secrets book and and came out with version 2.0 so you just answer all the questions we even referenced the book with pages so that you can letter okay and this is what I’m supposed to share a secret well maybe I’m not sure I did yet let me go to page 134 on the expert secrets book and I’ll show me what to do then this thing will output all it’ll output your webinar outline it outputs an opt-in video script so you want to create a video to tell people to opt-in for your perfect webinar you want to create the opt-in sales page copy creates all the webinar closes so you know when you when when you hear Russell will using closes like now is the time to decide or infos not enough for any of these things that creates all the customized closes for you creates all your promo ads create your email teasers and the coolest thing is that it literally will create all of your webinar slides totally and it’s gonna bring it over in here that’ll create all of your webinar slides for you that perfectly go through the perfect webinar no pun intended perfectly go through the everything you’re supposed to be doing it goes through all of the right steps it goes through the reframe everything and then it creates your entire stack it creates all the closes that you need everything is there completely done it creates a hundred and four slides for you just from filling out that wizard and it does your price drop it does the building the stack it does the guarantee it does your bonuses everything and then it has all of the slides all of the slides with the as well and it gives you word-for-word totally customized exactly how to say exactly what Russell would say to sell your product but it’s you saying it and it could this this is another one of those things where literally the the only way I could make this easier would be if you paid me ten thousand dollars to come to your house while you maybe my favorite lunch and I filled this out for you and helped you do the slides I mean that that would be the only way that I could make it easier well Jim we talked about the podcast webinar the perfect webinar what are something one of the other wizards that you have created well Dave I’m glad you asked let me show you so let’s plan um so the other the other downloadable wizards that we have are we have the we have the VSL wizard which literally you answer I think 24 questions so yes L is a vesl is a video sales letter yeah so we know a lot of what how am I gonna create a sales letter that I actually have on video and this actually creates the video sales letter for you right and it’ll either create the script in text and/or it will create it on a PowerPoint slide deck that you can customize so you don’t even have to you don’t even have to get on camera if you don’t so as before I got my new glasses picture of you hey that is attention-getting people want to know what that’s about yeah it looks like a convict sitting there going oh my god I didn’t know we were gonna turn okay nice headphones Dave by the way could you borrow those from your daughter yes I did thanks anyway but what this does I mean literally this this those cool videos that you see when Russell is talking into the camera and he gets you to buy stuff because he sells awesome stuff if you want to make those same kind of videos this software will help you do it in like a half an it’s it’s it’s not days and weeks to put it together and a half an hour you fill the thing out you whack the button and you do a little edit and you’re good to go the easy the easy survey script this one what it does is it helps you to come up with those really cool scripts and quizzes that you use at the beginning of a funnel to get people to engage and also to segment themselves so that if they answer let’s say we were doing something with I don’t know for sale by owner and we said okay are you have you ever sold the house before yes or no so if they say yes you say have you ever done it without a realtor yes or no and then if they say you know so then you can just build this sequence so that people end up seeing the rod of Airy specific landing page and that’s a really cool functionality that’s baked right into clickfunnels but sometimes it’s hard for people to figure out what the questions are they should ask to construct those so this wizard helps you really easily create a survey like that based on the the very best survey funnels that that we hacked to be able to do that and specifically Stephen was the one who hacked them he went out and looked at like a hundred different survey funnels and we isolated the best the best elements from all of them and we we built it right into this really cool piece of software again take you less than a half an hour to do it the stars always go ahead day I mean happy jump over to Mike one of my favorite ones actually is that master class one okay and that I think because people are always going geez how do you actually create all the content for these master classes and what is a master class now and this thing just crushes an entire product I mean you’re creating a product for yeah this the master class wizard again the master class was a concept that Russell introduced in expert secrets and this is really the product that you use to establish yourself as the preeminent expert in your blue ocean and so what this does literally step by step by step is it helps you create an amazing master class that hits all of the points that you need to hit but then it also creates all of your marketing materials for the master class as well if you want to sell it right your sales letter for if you want to give it away for free on the first round which Russell says is a good idea it’ll write your sales copy for that it creates your ads it creates emails it creates everything you need to promote your master class as well so and and with all of these downloadable Wizards we have extensive training with each one of them we walk you through it step by step by step exactly how to use it but they’re very intuitive if you if you know how to answer a question Dave do you not answer questions I guess I do okay so you can use all of these wizards if you can answer a question you can use all of these wizards because it’s all built around a very simple formula and the simple formula is this fill out the form whack the button copy and paste and you’re good to go that’s it that’s that’s the whole principle behind funnel scripts and so and the cool thing I’ve really enjoyed is taking like like people love experts secrets and you can tell I mean this is day I remember when Dave gave me this this is actually a proof copy this isn’t even a commercial copy probably worth some money if I hadn’t scarred it all up but I mean there’s so much gold in here and Russell teaches that step by step by step the only thing that makes it better is the fact that with funnel scripts all you need to do is say oh okay I need to do the I need to create my own opportunity switch so instead of going through the book like I did here and you know analyzing all the stuff and figuring out what you’re going to do all you have to do is go to the opportunity switch script in funnel scripts fill that bad boy out and it’s and you’re done that’s it you’re ready to go I’m so excited honestly this is one of my favorite products we’ve created that you’ve created for us actually because I think it’s it’s was one of the missing pieces a lot of people were part that surprised some people honestly it actually I know just because it’s so often again in the information marketing space so often approximants create it and it’s done it sits on a shelf and it’s like a static thing this is a very dynamic product it’s changing all the time so again kudos to Jim for pulling this thing off I think we’re I think the reason that we do that is because just that’s the key thing and plus I just have a lot of fun creating these things I know you just you might think that’s really weird but I it’s like a giant puzzle it’s a challenge can I create something that will help a customer to overcome what we might call the liberal arts barrier or the creativity barrier where they’re just not wired to do that on their own but if I can hand them a first draft then they can oh yeah that’s how I would say it and it’s because it’s all your thoughts I’m just taking your thoughts and I’m putting them into proven sales copy in a way that works and so I it’s it’s just it’s a lot of fun I enjoy it I love helping people I love getting the emails where people say you know you changed my life with funnel scripts final scripts change my life and you get the occasional in the air final script stocks but I mean it’s you’ll get one of those and then like within five minutes you’ll get some of this changed my life you’re awesome and so that’s why I do it I mean I just it’s been this has been the most fun I’ve had in the last 20 years because this is something that’s just making a huge difference for people because you can have all the tools in the world but if you don’t have a way to get the copy on the page in a way that is going to make people buy from you sign up dial the phone fill out the form to become a lead or click the link to take the next step you will fail and you’ll give up so I really see funnel scripts as a mission really honestly I see it as a mission to to help people who need help and and who need a fast result instead of buying you know I can show you back there on my on my table all these you know just a few copywriting books you’re gonna go buy these copywriting and advertising books and read them in order to be able to write your sales letter by next Monday you’re not gonna do that nobody is I might but I mean most most people are not you just don’t have the time energy and effort to do that and and the thing is it used to be Dave you know when we were starting out sales online sales a funnel was basically a long-form sales letter and a buy button that’s that’s all it’s all sales was okay and an email teaser now there’s so many different things that go into making a funnel success one we didn’t even show you guys the the the Facebook ads the Facebook ads script is the one that people go absolutely insane over because it’s the thing they have so much problem so many problems with you want me to show that real quick or no up we don’t have time I know we don’t have time that’s fine the the thing to get final scripts calm exactly um but I know and I lost track but the the things where people have problems are and there’s so many different things you got to be able to write Facebook Ads you got to be able to write email to you’ve got to be able to write follow-up email sequences you got to be able to create regular ads you got to be able to fake you know case studies and testimonials and and all these different things bullets all these different things you need to be able to be really really really good at really really fast because the world is moving so much faster now he used to be you could set something up you are good to go for a couple of years now you you’ve got to constantly be in this flow and be able to do these things quicker and quicker and quicker and if you’re gonna be the marketer and the traffic driver and the funnel builder and all these different things you you don’t have time to do your funnel copy from scratch you need an awesome tool to help you do it and that’s this is this is the God’s honest truth funnel scripts is too cheap we still don’t charge enough money for it there are people out there who are charging thousands of dollars a year for far inferior products and funnel scripts for an automated service like what it is is the number one thing in the world that you could buy and we don’t charge enough money for it so if you’re already a funnel those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back funnel hackers your host Dave Woodward this is the second of my podcasts where I’m actually not interviewing anyone else but I’m just providing content to use for some of the things that we’re seeing and want to provide you some of the secrets and hacks of the stuff that’s going on so this is a little bit different than we’d normally do so bear with me as we kind of go through this but the same time I want to make sure you get a ton of content as fast as I possibly can deliver it so with that what I want to cover with you guys today and that is the chip and Joanna Gaines marketing secrets there’s seven of them that I learned most recently when I was actually out at Magnolia farms we’re gonna dive right into this so a little background here first of all is to understand the ID as far as a micro vacation I have the opportunity of traveling quite a bit these days and I in the past I’ve always spent a lot of time doing micro vacations with my wife and since we moved to Boise I haven’t done as many of them and I thought we need to do a few more of these things so gosh in September a few months ago we ended up doing our first micro vacation we’re basically just literally I was going down to meet with Pedro’s cueing at his mastermind event and I just said no sweetheart let’s come on come down for the day before and just spend the day with me so San San Diego is our old stomping grounds we moved from there last year up to Boise so we went back and just had a great time in La Jolla and down to San Diego the beach and just having fun together and the whole idea as far as this micro vacation was really just condensing a whole bunch of time and adding it on to whatever else might be going on so for us in our marriage we’ve just celebrated our 24th annum or are going to November 6 be celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary and I can tell you for us micro vacations have been kind of a secret sauce for us to kind of keep everything exciting and alive we got four boys and life is busy and everything else is going on so I thought you know what we’re gonna have this little microphone in San Diego and we have so much fun I decided you know we’ll do another one the next time I go so if you haven’t seen our funnel hacker TV episode number 58 that’s the one my wife and I actually talked about micro vacation so check it out you go to funnel hacker TV episode 58 is about our trip to San Diego on a micro vacation but with all that I want to kind of let you know what we did just recently I was at launch con Jeff Walker’s event and been in there basically flew in Tuesday we had launch Club and then launch con I had my son flight hound to help work with Marc so that I could leave early and my wife flew in Saturday and so we took off Saturday and Sunday and basically made a micro vacation out of this and tacked it on because she’s always wanted to go to Magnolia farm so if you’re not familiar with chip and Joanna Gaines they’re the hit TV show it on HGTV and this kid guy who’s kind of kind of in a bucket list for my wife and for some reason we fly into awesome we fly into Dallas we’ve never made the trip an hour and a half from either direction to Waco Texas so we decided to just take off and head down drove the hour and half down to Waco Texas and as you’re driving into Waco you start seeing billboards of Chip and Joanna Gaines and you’re like this is crazy I had no idea this was this large of a place and as they as you drive off the the fruit get off on the exit there and head over there’s literally signs and directions to guide you directly to this so the whole City of Waco has now basically a taken on chip and Joanna Gaines and it was fascinating to me to see all the marketing lessons that I learned while my wife was having fun I was just geeking out over all the marketing lessons that were just hitting me time and time and time again so I want to share those seven with you first of all one of the first ones I picked up on and that is you got to go in the opposite direction of your competition and this kind of goes back to their original TV show so they haven’t got there have been a ton of shows out there as far as flipping houses armando montelongo was probably one of the first ones who did a years ago and i remember seeing his the way he would just beat up the contractors and and then later he saw you know flipping vegas and there was this whole argumentative type of thing between contractors and then it with flipping Vegas it was the husband and wife basically yelling at each other all the time and just it was always contention and argumentative type of stuff and so it was totally different when you started to take a look at how chip and Joanna Gaines did their show when they ended up doing their show they actually ended up doing just completely the opposite where you find these this couple who are madly in love they show their quirkiness and their family life and they kind of take a page out of the old the I forget what TV show it was where they had moved that bus and basically they they rebuilt these homes you know charity worked everything else to rebuild these homes and the whole idea was move the bus and by moving the bus they would see that their dream house home and they’d all followed in collapse and tears and joy and excitement all that well chip and Joanna Gaines has done this similar type of thing where they basically had a picture blown-up of what this house used to look like and then they’d pull it apart and behind it would be there this couple’s new house and so it’s fascinating to me to see the importance when you take a look at and a lot of marketing becomes me – ish these days and what you’re gonna find for when you go against the grain and kind of go in the opposite direction of your competition it’s what helps you to stand out from your competitors and I’ve seen them do an amazing job of that so that was secret number one I learned the second one was a reinforcement of what Russell talks about all the time and that’s the attractive character these two are the epitome of attractive characters here you’ve got chip who’s the goofy kind of dumb carpenter guy who’s always just trying to get the love and affection approval of his wife and it’s one of those things that’s quirky enough that the guys who are watching show and go yeah I can get that I’m very much like chip where I’m always just trying to do anything I can to get approval from my wife and I totally connected with what he was doing Joanna on the other side is as this calm but just reassuring female confidence with this crazy flair for design and that design element is something that was totally new and being added again kind of goes back to the last tip as far as going in the opposite direction most of the flipping shows is all about the almost kind of cookie cutter type of stuff hers is all thing is custom it’s you’re basically building this home for this cup of their dream house and so they go through and she has a a crazy ability to to bring a whole bunch of color and flair and design in and it’s been what her passion is so because of that and they add in the family this these two attractive characters play off each other so well that it appeals to everybody husband’s wife’s kids and whole families can actually enjoy the show and so the attractive character if you don’t have an attractive character in your business you have to create one you have to find one every business needs to have an attractive character the third thing is urgency and scarcity as a marketer there’s probably nothing better than those two words I love seeing urgency and scarcity nothing sells more nothing creates more nothing gets more done than when people feel urgency and scarcity we’re coming up to Black Friday mass of urgency massive scarcity we’ve got people Black Friday now basically extends I think it starts on Wednesday now probably right now for Thanksgiving on Thursday but it’s crazy how urgency and scarcity is one of the main things that really creates people to buy it’s this whole frenzy type of thing well as you drive into Waco and you approach this this multiple city blocks that they now own you see this huge line of people wrapping around the block and you’re going what in the world are these people there for and as you approach it’s basically it’s their little bakery where Joanna Gaines has her cupcakes that she sells inside this bakery and you’re you’re gonna you gotta be kidding in line for a cupcake and it literally goes around the block and I was just fascinated so many times I would sit there just tell my wife I just got a stand in line I just got a jump into this and she’s like no no I wanna go do this else and every time I came back she finally convinced me not to see an alignment wait for it but I wanted to get inside I wanted to see what was inside this bakery then this whole line of people we’re waiting for and just trying to die it dying to get inside this bakery so you take a look at as far as your business you have to have urgency and scarcity and it’s amazing how that the draw that it has on people it is one of the world’s greatest realities and tactics whatever you’re looking at selling anything well the fourth the fourth secret and that is the way in which they have gone from digital to physical this is one of the things I love seeing all of our funnel hackers do because there’s so much more money on the physical side as far as getting people offline it’s great as far as making money online with people but amazed see the amount of money you can do offline so if you take a look at chip and Joanna Gaines TV show this reality show what they’ve done is they started creating a massive amount of content online through the TV show and again probably at the time had no idea where it was gonna go but by doing this they’ve created a army of people who started loving their content so you’ll see right now we’ve got funnel hacker TV if you’re not if you go to youtube take a look at funnel hacker TV you’ll see we’ve got a ton of different episodes and ways of people consuming content obviously this podcast Russell’s podcast if you’re not listening to marketing secrets you absolutely have to we have the behind the scenes shows where we’ve got basically Russell’s camera my camera Stephens camera and we create two or three shows a week showing people behind the scenes and it’s been fascinating I’m actually out here in Phoenix recording this right now I just met a six division and as I was talking with Brad and Taylor over there they said you know what I feel like I know everybody in your office because I watch all of your behind the scenes shows that is that content it creates the relationship and so they started with that to create this massive movement but then what they’ve done is during the shows they actually started seating in some of the things that you’d now see when you go to the silos at Magnolia farms so they ended up buying this old granary silo and you see on their shows chip inside basically trying to to remodel and do different things and inside of the of the silo and some of the granary things you see Joanna over at the bakery trying to rehab this bakery and things and so all of this started off inside of of their content which now once they actually launched this huge couple of city blocks here now people have this destination to go to because they already saw it online they already saw the content being created they wanted to participate in that content the other thing they’ve done an amazing job of is now taking that brand and taking that to where Joanna now is they went from TV they now have a magazine that you can now buy and you should subscribe to and you can get the physical content in that inside of there she now has a whole line of products that she creates and sells at her stores and at this place we were at in addition to that she’s now expanded line to Pier one Imports she’s expanded that line to target all because of what started from creating massive content that people fell in love with they were able to take all that massive content that was all digital on TV and they took that now and have built this massive physical Empire based on exactly that tip number five we want to talk to you about our secret number five was the whole idea as far as authenticity and culture so as you walk into this you walk in the first thing you see is the the bakery you see the big silos up there and then you start walking on to this almost a campus type of thing where you’re greeted by some of the most friendly people in the world southern hospitality completely authentic to how Johanna is on the show and these women were basically just greeting you anything we could do for you how can we help and you started falling in love with with the atmosphere and the attitude everything else as far as the people who are there and as you go into the show into the the stores what you see is her same stuff that’s on her TV show and so it’s completely authentic you like oh my gosh I love this I love how she did this and the amount of things that people were buying at ridiculously high prices was so exciting to me I loved seeing it was like oh my gosh this is exactly how marketing works and because everything was totally authentic the smells that were inside of the inside of the stores in the warehouses that you go into was exactly what you would expect to see the candles that are led the the crazy thing for me was the way in which they have outside a basically this huge place where they are creating kettle corn all sorts of kettle corn but their most popular one is salted caramel salted caramel kal corn which permeated the entire complex and it was fascinating because it just drew you in it was like you’re you’re coming home to mom’s cooking and it just smelled the smells were just amazing and you just felt like you were home and her authenticity even though she may never ever stop step foot in the store everybody who was there was a replica of what her personality was like she hired people who were just as kind and genuine and everybody ran into is just how can I help you what can I do and because in that culture she’s created it just drew people more and more people into it was just amazing to see and then true to form chip has his own little tiny corner of the store just as he appears on the show to not have as much involvement as Johanna does in the store he has his own little corner that you can buy some of his stuff so it has an appeal to guys there as well they then ended up having because a lot of the stuff is really large in the in the place they also had a place where you could ship it so they would ship it out for you if you bought too much stuff so it’s just the authenticity and the culture was just amazing just to see how it was all there the sixth tip which I would just loved was they made it an experience and I think the crazy thing in marketing and in building and in business is you have to create an experience for people these days with all the social media everything that’s going on those experiences are some of the most important things that’s what people buy into I love Apple I’m this huge Steve Jobs fan and they’re such an experience with an Apple product and it’s because that experience it creates a culture around that experience same thing happened here when you literally kind of felt like you were at home and you walk in there’s these again the bakeries there inside is the big warehouse where they’re selling all the stuff when you walk outside there’s this huge turf area for kids and families just to play football and I mean they got people throwing ball footballs around they’ve got beanbag tosses they’ve got almost like this park environment we’ve got a bunch of a beanbag chair set up so you can just have this conversation and then all around the perimeter of the property our food trucks and there’s every type of food truck you can imagine they probably had 20 different food trucks throughout the entire property for people just to come in they have this big area where you could have a picnic and it’d be really became this experience and just we were there for probably two hours but I I saw people who were there I’m assuming way before we got there and they were there even after we left and it was just fascinating for me to see the families and the selfies that were going on were crazy there was more women taking pictures himself by pictures of the silos pictures by the bakery picture by the warehouse pictures by the seat area because they all wanted to be a part they wanted to connect and so in your business you gotta find a way of creating experiences for people inside if clickfunnels right now we have gamified the entire onboarding process for that exact reason we want people to consume the product and consumption is massive so the better you are at helping people consume that product for her she made an experience to where you literally consumed every single thing that was Joann and chip gains out there and the very back of the property is of little seed area where she has her little garden which again is a replica of the garden she has at her ranch at her family ranch which is on the show and so you again you feel like you’re right there as part of it you’re getting some of the seeds everything else and so you’ve got these city slickers you’re coming into Waco tax thinking you know I’m gonna be just like chip and Joanna Gaines and they people just bought into it so it’s fascinating the seventh one for me which I always love I love this thing and that is the idea as far as the puppy-dog clothes and anytime you have the opportunity of having this whole puppy dog type of sales clothes it always always works and this goes back to years ago as far as when people wanted to to basically help sell puppies or anything else they said you know what just take the puppy home hold the puppy just experience puppy take it home if you don’t want it just bring it back tomorrow there’s no parent in the world whoever’s gonna walk into a pet smart and I hope fall for that unfortunately I’ve done that we have a little Chui knee now because of that because my wife walked into a pet store not having any intention of buying a dog because we agreed when he first got married we weren’t gonna have a dog but she fell in love with this dog and so we just brought it home and sure enough or probably 10 years later we still have Maya our little dachshund dachshund Chihuahua chiweenie mix that my kids love and have fall in love with so that’s the whole concept behind the puppy dog clothes the way she used it in her store was awesome and that is when you walk in they basically give you a beautiful shopping bag to put all your stuff in and you just carry this bag around it’s got it’s leather bag and had Magnolia farms it’s just really really quite a nice bag and you put all the stuff in it and as you’re doing that you basically become very attached to this bag and then when you go to checkout the check read the register lady Bay says well if you’d like you know you can just keep the bag keep all this stuff in there and I couldn’t believe how many of these leather bags they were selling for I don’t know 35 40 bucks just because the people that had carried this and grown attached to it all their things were in there and that’s what they used to take away so again those are the seven secrets and things that I learned from chip and Joanna Gaines while heading out to Mecca Magnolia those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back to portulaca radio I’m your host Dave Woodward do you guys are in for a massive experience today this is gonna be one of those rides where you’re gonna be shocked to hear what actually comes out of this guy’s mouth so first of all welcome to the show Travis Stephenson Travis hey how you going I’m doing great thank you so much for taking time for those of you guys who don’t know Travis Travis actually has two of our two comma Club Awards so again basically me and CSU’s clickfunnels to produce over two funnels each doing over a million dollars one of them is for chat Matic which were me talking about today in their pre-launch another one is for well three which is a conglomerate of software tools and somebody he’s using our software clickfunnels to actually create and market his other software but the part I really am excited to talk about with you today Travis is I get people asking all the time about this whole messenger thing how does it work all that kind of stuff and you know people hear about mini chat and hear about all these other things and there’s so many different questions out there Facebook’s changing their algorithms all the time and people aren’t gosh you know what just tell me what do I really really need to do now you and I before we kind of started going on getting started here you’re basically just telling me down and slamming me that we’re not doing this thing right so I figured you know what tell everyone else exactly how we should be doing this so it’s it’s funny because it’s not it’s it’s not that anybody’s doing it wrong it’s that nobody’s Facebook doesn’t come out and say like hey we made all of this stuff possible and here’s what you could do with it right just like with any other new thing they’re not gonna necessarily tell you all the things you can do they will tell you what you can’t do and you know it’s with messenger it’s a new thing it’s a new toy a lot of people are confused because they’re hearing broadcasting through messenger and they’re hearing chat BOTS and and to me the most I would say probably the most inhibiting word about messenger is chat bot because it instantly feels like you’ve got to create this lengthy conversational like like crazy thing right with all these like links to this and that and that it’s you know you see some people teaching chat BOTS and you’re like wow that must have taken you days and I just want to do something that’s gonna add some incremental tics up in my business and so that’s where I you know really started with chat Matic April of 2016 when they released the messenger API which allows us to do some really cool things and messenger I said well as a marketer who already has a business going as somebody who already has funnels and I’ve already got these things going what can I do to use messenger which is downloaded by now 1.3 billion people so it’s one of the top three most downloaded apps in the world it’s worth looking into right so it’s something that I wanted to figure out and I said you know in a world where everybody’s going mobile here’s an app that’s on everybody’s mobile device which if I can you know using Facebook’s information if I can build my business in some way into you know into this app well there’s got to be a benefit there so I started diving in and we found some cool what I call entry points and this is where most marketers fall short they think that the bot is like okay so somebody’s gonna go to my Messenger they’re gonna message me and then like a bot will take over and the perfect example would be like a local bowling alley somebody goes to their Facebook page clicks send a message and they say hey what are your hours a chat bot could automatically reply and say our hours are this right so people think that they’ve got to set up all these scenarios and so what I wanted to do was I wanted to focus on entry points which was getting people into messenger to then activate real BOTS or just to have a conversation because if you really get deep into this you’ll you’ll realize that like everything that we buy when we’re in person a lot of it comes down to conversation if you walk into a store to buy a pair of jeans and then the guy at the store doesn’t talk to you a lot of times you walk out and it’s just it’s one of those things conversation engages you it brings you in and so I started focusing on entry points for messenger I said well what are some of the cool ones that I think are already going on and the one that we’re really attached to in the beginning was what I call a comment trigger and this is the one that you guys were missing out on and I think that 90% of your listeners are probably missing out on this one and what it is is anytime somebody comments on a post or on an ad of yours as long as it’s on a business page you can automatically send them using something like Chat Matic you can automatically set up a precondition to message that goes to everybody who comments so if you say comment below and I’m gonna send you this our system can automatically send it to you obviously and so it’s not as you know it it obviously is super cool that we can do that but the coolness of it is way overshadowed by the effectiveness of what this does so we’ve got people who take the same idea and they’re promoting ecommerce products and they say comment below for a 15% off discount coupon or comment below for free shipping now again figuring out why that overshadows the coolness is looking into how these comments change your natural organic reach and we all know number one thing on Facebook is engagement if your post gets lots of likes comments and shares it’s a good post and Facebook will show it to more people and we win right well the reverse of that is a post that doesn’t get very much engagement and mostly ads and you know small businesses it’s hard you don’t have a marketing department to like figure out what can I do to get engagement on every post so now what we’ve done with chat Matic is you have the ability to say comment below and I’m gonna give you something mmm some I’m incentivizing you to comment basically and we can deliver that something instantly well with that something comes you know links back to our website it comes with additional marketing material which gives us a second chance to reach somebody and you know we’ve also learned that that original comment it starts a conversation it’s you know a lot of times you’ll see friends tagging their friends and now you know that original friend tag Alley Sally comes on an hour later comments again and now that original friend gets a message saying hey you know Sally commented on your post so now you’re going back to my ad and we found that just by doing this just by incentivizing engagement even if you don’t deliver something fantastic which obviously you should something for free or a discount or a PDF or a you know learn your guide or something interesting by incentivizing engagement we’re seeing an increase in our traffic by over thirty five percent and that’s post by post that’s our and that’s a stat based on reach so we’re seeing that on average our average post that incentivize engagement engagement gets thirty five percent more reach than one that doesn’t and we get way more actual trick clicks in traffic because you know especially on an ad when you tell somebody comment below and I want to give you this you get a ton more traffic because now you’re actually actively promoting it and so that was the first entry point that we realized was really beneficial was man you know somebody can comment on a post or an ad and we can give them something and it incentivizes us or it gives us a way to incentivize them to comment so now our ads look more engaging and as I was kind of explaining to you day before if when you post something on Facebook right away the EdgeRank algorithm and nobody knows the real numbers but let’s say it shares your post to about 10 percent of your total audience it’s gonna trap some yeah I want to kind of make sure people understand what we’re really talking about here and give some practical example because yes as we were just kind of getting started you basically said you know Dave got a couple of posts you guys could have done better with and so let’s if you don’t mind let’s take for example the funnel hacking live post because perfect motion well yes these listeners are all gonna if you guys have it if you’re not familiar funnel hacking live you should be you should be going go to phone hacking live.com get your tickets all that kind of stuff but realize what Travis I were talking about before we got started here was they said you know dig you guys posted that your tickets were available and you put a link in and so I want to kind of because this is something again we do this and we’re on Facebook all the time we’re advertise we’re doing all sorts of stuff so obviously we’re pretty we’re not newbies to this business yeah I want to make sure that you kind of help people understand what could we have done better so they can actually take that knowledge and actually apply that in their own business yeah so here’s the way that I look at it is that the reason that you post normal posts on Facebook is because you want engagement a lot of people think it’s the other way I did it like oh well I want you know people to buy my product right but know what you really want is engagement because if you don’t get engagement nobody’s gonna see your product so engagement first and and there’s a couple of rules that we all kind of know are true and one of those is when you post something on Facebook and in the description of that post you have a link it naturally isn’t going to reach as many people that’s just because Facebook realizes if somebody sees this post there’s a good chance they’re gonna leave Facebook let’s see what happens and so you should share it out to a small percentage of your audience probably doesn’t do as well because it’s got a link on it and and for whatever reason it never reaches as many people so now enter in something like a comment trigger right where would somebody comments you can send them something which one do you think is gonna go farther and this is the headline that you guys used it said funnel hacking live tickets are for sale get yours ASAP before they’re gone forever and you had a link to the website do you think that would would work better than what about this phone hacking live tickets are for sale 30% of tickets are already pre-sold comment give me what light or like mine below or you know let’s do it below to grab yours now through this exclusive private opportunity or however you want to word it obviously when they share that out to the 10% of people you’re gonna have those people looking and saying well I got a comment I gotta check this out I’m curious to see what this special deal is what the you know how can I get in what are the price you know they’re gonna they’re gonna question it and they’re gonna go when they comment you could now use something like a cup Matic you know trigger to instantly send them a link that says hey you know and reaffirm the reason why they should go again now you can put a description in there that that describes why they should go check it out and then a link to funnel hacking live and so you’re still just ribbiting the link and obviously you’re gonna get a little bit less traffic per view right because you’re gonna need to comment in order to get the link however you’re gonna get a lot more views we’ve found this to be true almost 100% of the time unless you’re doing something you know crazy off-the-wall generating comments is way more important and and let me let me just quickly super quickly go over why I think comments are so important and there’s no better way than to pretend that it’s a real-life Street like if you look at your your newsfeed as a street and you’re scrolling through just like you would be driving down the street if you like something that’s like driving down the street looking at something and giving it a thumbs up right that’s like okay cool Facebook sees you do that and they’re like well that’s not really that important or sharing something that’s like taking a picture of it and texting it to five of your friends well that doesn’t mean that those five friends are gonna go do something about it it just means that you thought it was cool enough to give them to share it but if you comment that’s like driving down the street stopping your car looking at the store and saying hey that’s super cool Facebook sees that and they’re like he’s he thought he cared enough to engage that’s different than just blindly liking or blindly sharing and so I really do believe that’s why they built this kind of backdoor that allows you to instantly send messages upon comments but that’s the way that you should be formulating a lot of your posts is look for the comment send a message on the comment I love that analogy it’s honest I was my wife and I were in Austin for the weekend cook anniversary getaway type of trip and we’re actually walking down 6th Street where they’ve got you know they have a Cowboys game playing they’ve got all these bars old but all this kind of crazy stuff going on and it was amazing to me to we’re literally right next to each other you got two different clubs and one is just jam-packed they could get enough people in it and literally the one right next to it then they’ve got people beg you know hey come on in come on in given all these offers and no one was going in and so I look at your comments as kind of like when you’re driving down your distri you see a huge line of people wanting to get into that rest yet again it creates that curiosity and obviously 100 sense curiosity urgency are the two things that are every marketers most important trick and tool in their tool belt and so if you can increase curiosity that’s why again I know there’s I hear this all the time and it’s one things you know we’ve we’ve gone back and forth we’re still kind of testing as far as is it better putting the link out or is it better put in a mini chat because every time you ask someone to do something you’re right you you lose some people during that transaction I’m clicking and yet at the same time by creating that many comments it does it again you’re trying to play the algorithm game but at the same time it also as you’re scrolling through if you see someone’s got 800 comment you’re going gosh there’s gotta be something in this post of value or at least that’s 100 percent yeah it’s it’s a lot of that perception and I think that there’s also you know I’ve been doing it now for a year and eight nine months somewhere in there and and we’ve learned a couple of cool tricks when it comes to asking for comments not just saying comment below write or comment I’m in one of the things that we’ve done is obviously a comment like I’m in is a good inclusive comment that’s one that would lead other people to be like oh what are they in on for webinars for instance we’ve done I’ll be there that’s another one letting everybody know hey these other people subliminally these other people are going I should go and and so when you actually ask somebody to say something think about you know we tell people to think about what that means what that phrase that you’re asking them to say actually means and some of the times and this was a really cool experiment I actually had somebody comment WWH at matok calm to get the trigger I’m like okay comment WWE chat matcom to get this and so I had like 500 people sharing links to my website and it was pretty cool because we obviously got way more traffic because there was people seeing this link going why are they linking to this website and so there’s ways that you can kind of game it in and I think it’s more than just comment below for this which is what everybody does there was that you know two years of everybody was afraid like oh I heard that Facebook’s algorithm you know boot you down if you ask for comments and it’s just some random rumor that people put out but so yeah that commenting feature is one big one and the next kind of big thing that everybody I think should be focusing on is the idea of building a notification list in messenger and so another great example for clickfunnels recently I saw that you guys did software secrets a really cool software webinar when somebody signs up for a webinar for me right now they go over to the Thank You page and on that Thank You page almost every marketer that I know has a mobile sign up reminder thing right so you know hey set up text messages right give me your your cell phone number as invasive as that sounds you don’t know me but I want your phone number and so maybe they’re like oh hey yeah sure let’s do it I’m getting 20% of people to give me their mobile number and now I can send them a text message do you have you ever gone through what that actually looks like when you send that text message it comes from a number that they’ve never seen it’s usually like 3 6 3 – 8 oh so right off the bat when they see the text message come in they’re like spam no thanks and then you have to use you only get like a hundred characters and you have to use some of them to say hey it’s Travis Stephenson because they don’t know and so like you’re already limited in so many ways so what I said was like look we built in the chat Matic this ability to build a basically a squeeze page that acts like its own you know like a like a notification list builder so now on my Thank You page we have a little page on there in an iframe that says make sure you get notified of our of our broadcast click send a messenger below and we’ll send you a message 15 minutes before we go live and when they click that it adds them to messenger I then redirect them to a page says like hey thank you you’re all set whatever and this this is I think way more important than most people give it credit for because we all know on webinars the most important thing to do is to get someone on the webinar or if you’ve got a blog you could do this with a blog write you post a new blog post now you can notify people through messenger hey our new post is up and you’re gonna get way more activity but on the webinar we get we saw it like like flat out from messenger a webinar where normal attendance rate is about 12 to 18 percent our attendance rate on all of the webinars the webinars that we’ve run with mobile messenger reminders are 30% plus dude that’s yeah because like think about the logistics of it right like you get them most that everybody has messenger sending notifications on their phone so now you’re gonna get a notification on your phone if you try to do this with email people don’t check their email every minute so you try to send an email 15 minutes before you go live nobody gets it in fact it’s more of a hassle to send an email 15 minutes ahead of time because I spend more time answering emails from people after the webinar saying I didn’t get this until after do you have a replay right don’t want to interrupt your I’m gonna stop yes I want to find the one thing I hear people always say on this messenger thing is I’ve got to have them click say something to go to messenger and then they have to accept it in messenger so on this on your so if the stuff you’ve got going right now as far as chat Matic when you have that India night of clickfunnels and they click on it do they then have to go and accept inside of messenger or is that click no you know so what happens is the way that we built it is it looks to see is somebody logged you know is this user logged in now on mobile it is a little bit different on mobile for the majority of the experience what ends up happening is they’ll click send a messenger and it’ll actually pop up a little window that says you know login to messenger if they’re not currently logged into messenger it’ll ask them to login and when they login which it doesn’t take them away from the experience it doesn’t take them into messenger and then ask them to reaccept once they log in that’s them accepting and then it redirects them back to where we want to go but if they’re logged in and this is the case with a good majority of the people I mean our conversion rates are pretty high on these these reminders if they’re already logged in they just click one button and they don’t even see anything happen it just instantly sends the the subscription but we also then instantly we also allow you to send a message instantly when somebody subscribes so once they subscribed – the message it says hey awesome job this is where my reminder is gonna come from it’s my Travis Stephenson page and I give them a little to take a page from Ryan Deiss I give them a little indoctrination message first hey this is when I send my messages this is where you can find me go check me on YouTube like you know I use it as my first get to know me message and now they’re able to pick me up on different places they’re subscribing to YouTube they’re finding me on Facebook and so then again 15 minutes ahead of time I go into chat Matic I hit create broadcast to that list and I broadcast to that list a message it just says hey we’re getting ready to go live click here to join us and the phenomenal thing is we’re talking 70 to 80 percent opens that’s on average that’s after mailing them like a lot not like my biggest list like up because you can’t broadcast you know promotional stuff forever you just can’t that the rules are you have 24 hours from somebody contacting you and messenger or accepting messenger messages so if they subscribe you technically have 24 hours to send them a marketing related message after that you have to send them notifications which is again that’s not if you’re running an e-commerce store and you’re saying hey you know we’re gonna run a 25% off sale that’s not a notification what they mean by notification is hey you signed up to find out when we were going live we are going live or you know you wanted to get information about our new blog posts we have a new blog post making it very structured in that you’re actually telling them something they care about and the way they police it is very rough right now there’s a lot of people broadcasting messengers or like marketing messages constantly but Facebook will shut you down they don’t they buy pass us as a software by the way they bypass us if you Dave if you start broadcasting promotional stuff to people after that 24-hour window and you’re using chat Matic they don’t even tell us they go right to your fan page and they restrict your ability to send messages and you then write a support ticket to us and you’re like hey my messages aren’t being sent and we know right away that’s because you were probably breaking some rules so it’s it’s it’s really cool like really you can’t compete it but it’s not replacing email I get a lot of those questions every day oh is this are you gonna say this is gonna replace email I use email with like more frequently than I used messenger messenger is different it’s a conversation platform that allows you to engage constantly with your user base on things they care about new posts new blog posts webinar notifications is my big one and so it’s just you know we do contests where you can sign up to get notified who the winner is and then obviously what we can use that to link them back to our site and all kinds of really really cool like you know experiences and case studies so far but it’s been a heck of a ride and you know messenger is just one of those things now that once you really figure it out you start thinking about I could probably do this in messenger just the same way that you would treat email you know we went in your thought process so tell me Travis when as far as chat Matic there a way that you can extract the email address they have in facebook so that shows that address my man you asked the perfect question because a lot of other apps give you the ability to in the bot you can ask them hey what’s your email address if you give it to us we can then use ap er and do all this stuff and I’m like dude for me too complicated so what we did was we built you you’ve seen those sign up with Facebook buttons everywhere like hey enter your name and email or sign up with Facebook we said look why don’t we just modulate that sign up with Facebook button and allow anybody to make a sign up with Facebook button that they can use as a link to drive traffic anyway when somebody clicks it it’s gonna grab their email from Facebook obviously there’s an authorization that has to take place like it would normally but if you’re logged into Facebook it pops up a little window that says hey so-and-so would like to grab your email address and your public profile would you like to continue and the thing I love and it’s how you can tell there’s some marketers in Facebook not many but the button itself the button that actually authorizes us to get their email this is the the phrase they use on the button it says continue as so if you’re seeing this it would say continue as date and I’m like obviously I’m gonna click that button because I don’t want to continue with somebody else and so it’s just one of those things like they they worded it so perfectly for us so essentially what this does is in art in our tool we this is like a kind of like an add-on it’s not really messenger related you could use it anywhere and I use it on every one of my click funnels every opt-in page I have has a name and email or sign up with Facebook button and all you do is you just tell our system where do you want to redirect somebody once they’ve clicked this link and then what’s the name of this campaign so you might name it you know click funnels and we also integrate with all the major autoresponders so you can instantly send that lead to multiple autoresponders actually we kind of have a zapier like setup where you can send them to MailChimp and you could send it to GoToWebinar at the same time when somebody opts in and so we do have that ability and what a lot of our users do and the reason I kind of long-winded explain that what a lot of our users do is they’ll make a post that says hey comment below for this free pdf and then they’ll use our quote unquote button which is what we call it it’s a link that will grab an authorization for email they’ll use that to redirect people to the PDF so now as they’re going to the PDF they’re actually getting a subscriber very cool very so it’s it’s a pretty cool software and I mean I’ve even even through testing it now I mean just looking at my saw my system I obviously run demos of it all the time and I do a lot of training and and so even just through doing mostly demos I’ve generated like eighty four hundred leads and one time I did a campaign and this was amazing I did a campaign on my Facebook page where I posted an image that had every targeting option on Facebook like for the ads platform and so it described every targeting option that you could have and in the description I said comment you know if you want a copy of this to download comment awesome below and you know do me a favor share this because I can’t turn it into an ad share it and I shared it into a couple of groups just to see like Facebook Ads groups and you know all this kind of marketing stuff and I ended up getting to 2,500 comments over a thousand shares and like 1800 comments but using chat Matic to instantly send a message when somebody commented and then using our button to grab an email when they clicked for the downloadable version I ended up generating a list of like 1800 people all for free and you know obviously as a marketer you then take that you can do a thousand different styles of campaigns I was running people through a webinar where I explained Chat Matic actually within our pre-launch and I mean we absolutely crushed it and there was no you know normal external links anywhere like it was just a very sort of hidden funnel but it crushed that’s fantastic I mean actually looking at some of your users comments in one of those it’s exactly what we were just talking about that is Jason Johnson here basically it’s over 1400 engaged I got 400 emails yeah that’s pretty impressive so grabbing meals like like you wouldn’t even believe and literally just today so obviously we have a group of all of our sort of first users for chat Matic and I told people today I’m like look it’s Halloween let’s do something cool for Halloween I’m like do these two things so I listed to probably hundred word paragraphs describing what they could do with chat Matic one like make a Halloween post and have somebody say comment Halloween you’ll give him 25 25 percent off in the comments of that post the guy says about 20 minutes after I posted he says oh five sales already and then about an hour and a half later that this is no joke he goes so I said to him I count you know how are you guys doing he said two thousand eight hundred and thirty four dollars and 32 cents from what you showed me and he said no way two thousand nine hundred thirty-seven dollars just got a chit Ching thirty-three sales and awesome it in part of it is like I’m not gonna lie like part of it is one of those things that right now it absolutely smashes because there’s so few people doing it that it’s very different when users see it and they’re like oh I can comment to get something it’s a new call to action that feels different than you know posting a link and hoping that they click so it’s right now it has that sort of we’re still test you know everybody’s still testing the waters to see what can be done with it but we do know that messenger is obviously a beast it provides us massive opportunities but then also this commenting trigger what it what it does or doesn’t do with the algorithm we know that it helps in most cases and then you know being able to broadcast to people and messenger to notify them of things if you’re using a real notification like your your podcast a perfect example if you said to people hey sign up to get notifications on my podcast that’s a real thing that people would want to get notified of then you’re not gonna have any issues because nobody’s gonna complain when they get what they want if if you use it as a shady marketer which a lot of people would like oh hey sign up for notifications of our podcast and then they’re very like you know ten days later they get a message it says you should go check out this new product we just released then it’s not quite what they signed up for so you might you know have some issues but the power of it is still getting exposed it’s getting more and more interesting every single day at Chat Matic we’re really really focusing on how can we make it easier for marketers to not feel that sense of overwhelm when they think like I know I’ve got to get a chatbot going but I don’t even know where to start I don’t know what to do our goal is let’s focus on making the entry points really easy and you know we’ll be able to kind of we’ll go from there and actually one of the big things that we’re doing and I’ll kind of cap it with this with with clickfunnels I’m what I’m working on is I’m working on how can we make it so that every click bottles user could say I want to add this to my landing page I want to add this to my thank-you page I want to add this to my sales funnel how do I do it we want to make it to where it’s almost a seamless integration for them to say well I’m a chat Matic user now I can just do these three things and oh it’s there we go that it’s it’s ready for my click funnels funnel and I can you know when somebody opts in I can send them a message and messenger I can build a list in messenger and an email there’s some really cool things coming so in the next two to three months I would expect to hear more about that awesome well Travis I greatly appreciate your time especially spread you know shed some light on this whole chat of dive right into this thing you’ve been doing this online stuff for a long time and you’ve seen what works and what doesn’t work yeah and what I really want to kind of talk about is you’ve got this book funnel and I get questions about this all the time primarily because we clickfunnels off of the book funnel and a webinar funnel right but people are always asking me as far as you know gosh dave does it does it really work is it only work for Russell and I thought you know the best thing for me to do is let me get like one of them other best-selling authors out there and let him talk about his book funnel so no I get I watch you guys go take a look at it send me a book no accom that’s the fun we’re gonna be talking about but let’s go just dive right into this Noah is I’ve taken a look at it again super simple and clean which I just love but tell me a little bit about your experience with this well let me talk about the book for a second and then we’ll talk about the book funnel okay cuz I do want your listeners to know and everyone to know that the reason that I wrote this book get rid of your head trash about money is because as you just said a moment ago this is such a huge enormous thing that is holding so many people back you know Russell’s always talking about you’re just one funnel away right that’s one of the things that he’s known for and the fact of the matter is I’m the guy that teaches you why you haven’t made that funnel in the first place so that’s called your head trash and what we call that on our campus at Success clinic calm is we call that your inner game your inner game is the stuff that happens between your ears that you can’t see directly but you definitely see the effects of them everywhere you go in every day of your life so that’s why when I wrote this book it was literally to help people get rid of their head trash about the number one thing that I see people hold themselves back on and that is money so that’s what really is in the book and and the the subtitle is how to avoid the three big money mistakes even smart people make and I know everyone listening this show is very smart but that doesn’t mean you may not be holding yourself back and the reason is because of these three big mistakes so so that’s the book itself and what I’m really super excited about David is the fact that with using clickfunnels we’re far as what are some of that what you’ve had a ton of experience we’re gonna log entrepreneurs what are some of the main problems you’re seeing and why you really wrote this book about this crazy head trash well you know as you mentioned Dave it’s true I’ve been online since 1997 I started my company success clinic com in 1997 in my college dorm room with $800 in a book on how to do HTML so I’ve literally this is our second decade you know 20 years of doing this so I literally own one of the original personal development self-help you know websites on the internet I’m actually 7 months old in Google believer so I mean I’ve been doing this a long long time as you said I worked with tens of thousands of people you know according to Google Analytics my work is in over 120 countries my books are in 12 languages so it really is an honor it’s a privilege to do this work and you know as you just said that that head trash is keeping so many entrepreneurs stuck and the reason is your head trash the way that that we call it that I call it you know on our campus what I say is what is you know people say well what is your head what is head trash what does that mean and I say look it’s very simple it’s a guy in your head it’s I can’t do it because I can’t do it because and then it goes dot dot dot and you fill in the blanks and you know what’s so funny is you always make yourself right if you say I can’t do it because I don’t have the time guess what you won’t have the time if you say I can’t do it because I don’t have the money guess what you won’t have the money if you say oh you can’t do it because I’m too old guess what you’ll find reasons why you’re too old and so on and so on and so on and so people don’t realize you know Ryan Deiss talks about the half built bridge syndrome I’m sure we’ve all heard of that by now you know you have all these half build bridges well the reason he doesn’t talk about that the reason that you have the help build bridges I this is the reason that they’re there that you don’t have it so this book literally isn’t my work really is the cure for the half built bridge syndrome I’ve literally cured it I mean I cured it 20 years ago and now we just have it in this new format but that’s what’s so exciting is to see people and then by the way when you go to the main website you know when you go to our main site which is Noah st. think that’s what matters most is where you have those kind of drastic results yes it is it’s exciting and when people and I want people to know is these are ordinary people who have gotten extraordinary results you know look at this time right now at the time of this recording my clients have made on the aggregate a half a billion dollars they’ve literally added half a billion dollars with a B and that means we’ve helped people add six figures to their business we’ve helped people had seven figures and yes we have even helped people had eight figures to their business this is all documented and you know go to that praise page and you’ll see there’s videos there’s written testimonials so what I get excited about is this isn’t just about me you know like in this guru industry you know you see the guys driving their Ferraris and all that stuff and it’s like yeah man that’s great for you have you helped anyone else and usually the answer is no not really what I get excited I’d rather talk about my clients success than my success yes of course I’ve made seven figures you know I’m definitely made you know multi seven figures here being online but what’s what I say all the time is well who cares does that really help the average person I’d rather see average people being able to make you know whether it’s just that extra ten thousand dollars a month we felt people go from five thousand a month to $75,000 a month from sixty thousand dollars in credit card debt to a six-figure income in less than a year I mean and there’s this story after story after story and that’s what gets me excited and gets me you know jumping out of bed every day well I love it well let’s drop some value bombs on our listeners as far as I’m at real content that is I’d like to kind of discuss this whole the link and kind of connection that you’ve seen and work with all these different people all their success stories as far as what are some of the connections you’re finding between habits and money okay so this is one of the big big things and this is one of the big reasons that we have helped people make that half billion dollars and what we talked about on our campus is very very simple and you know you said it a moment ago what’s simple is what people can do if it’s complicated we don’t do it so we like to keep it simple and what we find is most simple is also the most powerful so very simply the connection to hidden connection between habits of money rests in your inner game and your honor game now your inner game as I mentioned is the things that happen between your ears so things that you can’t see directly but you see the effects of them your thoughts believes you know the the things that are going on in your head all right now that’s your inner game but the outer game is the things you can see directly that is like your habits your behaviors your lifestyle system strategies all the blocking and tackling that we have to do every day you know as business owners as entrepreneurs so you know your funnels your sales pages and all that outer game stuff but here’s the thing if you don’t master your inner game you’re going to be stuck you’re going to be holding yourself back from success if you don’t master your outer game you’re also gonna be stuck so it’s only when you master both your inner game and your outer game that you’re going to have the thing called success I’ll give you a quick story as an example we had one client who came to me I was speaking at a seminar in Los Angeles he ran up to me after I was done speaking he literally almost grabbed me since Noah I want you to be my coach I said I didn’t know this guy from Adam ironically his name was Adam but anyway he said no I want you’re the coach I’ve been looking for and he says I’m totally stuck I’m only making four million dollars a year now of course I had to laugh I said really a lot of people like to be stuck right I mean it’s like a funny thing doesn’t you guys no no no you don’t understand I own a software company we go to four million in revenues like almost overnight like really really fast hockey stick growth but you know what we have been plateaued for the last four years for four years we’ve been stuck at four million in revenues and I have hired everybody I’ve hired this guy that I mean you know he named all the big names he says I paid them all this money and we are still stuck he says as soon as I heard you speak about inner game of an outer game and head trashed your foot on the brake and everything you just said he said I knew you coach you’ve been that I’ve been looking for a long story short I ended up coaching him just you know one-on-one coaching for one year in that one year Dave his revenues his company revenues one for me stuck at four million over the previous four years to over 16 million dollars in one year now that sounds impossible it sounds incredibly like well what did you do did you do all the funnels did you do all the marketing did you do it no we didn’t now we very briefly talked about our game but I tell you what 90% of what we did was inner game it was the inner game and no one else all those guys that he had paid all that money to no one else had been able to get in there and just look at his inner game and say all right Adam here’s where you’re stuck here’s where you holding yourself back here’s where you have those half built bridges so it’s really what’s so powerful is once you master your inner game and your outer game your results can just go through the roof very very quickly well I love it I know that obviously probably the easiest I’m gonna ask a question to answer it at the same time but probably what I’m love for you to do is share you know a couple of things as far as what people should be doing first and I’m sure you probably first answers well go get my book and it’ll tell you everything right there but aside from that what what are some things a person needs to look at as far as what’s the very first thing they should be considering when they’re they’re trying to figure this whole thing out as far as this head trash stuff well one of the big things that I do talk about in the book you’re right is that one of the big mistakes I mentioned the three big money mistakes one of the big mistakes that people make is not having a mentor trying to do everything yourself and you know I’m a perfect example of that because the first I told you been in you know doing this 20 years you know we’re in our second decade now first ten years I never had a mentor and I never broke six figures I was just you know it was pretty much hand to mouth I didn’t know what I was doing I was trying all these different things I spending all this money trying to piece it together and you know I never broke six figures then in 2007 I was $40,000 in debt working out of my parents basement I said I got to do something different I hate this this is this is idiotic if I keep doing the same thing I’m gonna keep getting the same results so I had to make a change and the change that I made was I hired my first real mentor and he was very expensive and I didn’t have the money but you know what I found the money and so the point is when you’re the people that I meet who are struggling who are you know whether it’s the six or seven or even that eight figure you know to get to that next level one of the big things is not having the right mentor and one of the things that we do talk about is you’ve got to look for personality driven versus systems driven most of the people that are out there are very personality driven that means if their personality isn’t there you’re not gonna get the result and so what we look at at Success clinic is it’s got to be systems driven it’s got to be a system that means that anybody can do it regardless of your personality with an introvert or extrovert or whatever so the point is that you know be very careful of who you hire as a mentor and make sure that you know that they have stories that aren’t just about themselves but more importantly are about regular people people who are in your situation and that’s what you want to look for my gosh I like for those of you are listening I’m just gonna echo exactly what he just said and that is if you don’t have a mentor do not wait until January first to set goals to get a mentor I would be doing it today and go out and find a mentor I actually just hired hired one last week and I’m hiring another one next week for another area of my life and I’m a huge huge believer that the only way you’re ever going to get to where you want to go is through a mentorship and I’m just oh my gosh no I appreciate you mentioning that I think it’s the most important thing that is a game-changer at least my own personal life obviously wasn’t yours as well and so again if you don’t have a mentor I would highly recommend that you go out and get one and I love know what you just said as far as it’s not a matter of not having the money because I hear that excuse all the time when it comes to mentorships I’m just I do once I get the money then I’ll get a mentor you’ll never get the money you’ll never get a mentor so go get a mentor and then you’ll get the money by getting the mentor first that’s right and just be very aware you know that we have a series of questions that we recommend that people ask you know in that mentor but again or in finding that mentor and as you mentioned you can have mentors in different areas of your life you know you can have one for health one for you know weight loss relationships money business so you can have you know and I have you know anywhere from three to five different mentors at any given time and the point is however let’s say if you have a business mentor you don’t want to have like five different business mentors because you get that whole thing which is there’s that old joke you know what is a camel it’s a racehorse that was designed by a committee right you know it’s like kind of put together kind of funny about you know my camel friends but you get my point with the name like Noah I have to be sensitive to all animals anyway I get my point day but anyway you get my point so you know you find that mentor but again I just got to reiterate that make sure because what we see out there in this industry right now it’s all guru driven it’s look at me look at my you know cars and all that stuff again nothing I’m not saying anything wrong about that I mean yeah we want it you don’t wanna be following somebody’s living in a van down by the river right I mean that makes sense but at the same time is well have they is it just about them or is have they helped anyone else do they have other success stories and that’s why it’s so crucial and you know really we see this so and that people have spent I mean like that woman you know who’s on our praise page Susan she spent $60,000 on all those you know gurus and stuff and she was about to go bankrupt and then you know she hired me and we were able to get her to a six-figure income in less than a year so again systems versus personality I love that love it well he’s been a little bit time talking about the funnel that you’ve created here because I’m surely fascinated by it this is so typically a lot of people when they think of a book they think of a free plus shipping offer funnel right and which again is fantastic yours is unique because when you again go to take a look at send me a book Noah calm because what you’re gonna find there is you have a phone over the top which I love because you actually are allowing people to call call they don’t want to go online so I’m kind of curious how many phone calls do you get from that I’m just I don’t keep track specifically from that number but do you get a lot of people just calling in we really don’t and that’s what people are afraid of because they say oh I don’t want to put my phone number up there because everybody know they really won’t call them nobody nobody picks up the phone anymore that’s it’s all arias but what I always teach my clients when you know when I help my clients build their funnels is you’ve got to have that phone number because it shows that you exist on the earth you don’t love that oh my gosh Oh awesome we’ve all been burned by internet whatever right we know that everybody is skeptical cynical nobody believes anything anymore so you’ve got to put that phone number not to get phone calls necessarily I mean of course we do get phone calls but I mean probably one out of sixty maybe I mean it’s a tiny number because people don’t want to talk it’s just Alerus I mean I’ve never seen a millennial and their phone rings they look at it like it you know kiss the rattlesnakes oh my god anyways the point is again I I do and like I said we teach our clients is when we’re final building is that just you’ve got to have that as a trust element it’s just as important as all those trust symbols that go on your order page in my opinion no I love it I think that’s super critical and the great part of getting go to take me take a look at sent me a book Norcom where the first things you see in the upper left-hand corner is your logo but I think it’s really cool again just from a trust area is you’ve got them in there for basically 20 years you’ve got this banner business in from 1997 2017 which basically helps people go oh this guy is not a flash in the pan he’s actually been around a long time and need help with your phone never before they see anything else and I think that’s again all about trust and then it goes right down opposite to picture the product but I love your your headline here basically is if you’ve got 45 minutes to read this book I guarantee no to work a financial miracle in your life how to avoid the three massive money mistakes even smart people make great headline but I love the time element because a lot of time people are frustrated think oh you know I just don’t have time to read a book I’m just you know there’s got to be a faster way that’s so I think it’s I I love what you’re doing and the part I would the importance of that you start at the very top with social proof and at the very bottom you know noticing John has been featured on ABC NBC hallmark Co fire forbes.com Huffington Post and I think it’s so important people understand the importance of getting that um I know a lot of people always ask well gosh I haven’t been featured on those things which so what should I do any tips for people as far as if they haven’t been on as many places you’ve been how they can put social proof on their page yeah absolutely and one thing not to do is lie so don’t do that don’t make it up and don’t do one of those farms I’m seeing a lot of this now and and I don’t know how that works really but I see hey guarantee we get you on ABC and all you know you cannot guarantee you’re gonna get it right we could do that I mean unless you’re talking to the guy who happens to own ABC which you’re not so anyway that I mean look at the fact is you know media meaning traditional media TV radio podcast blogging you know even newspapers and yes people still read newspapers what you know those are those are important as you just said for social proof what’s so funny just there’s a quick aside we did have a version of that page without the social proof on it just to test it I mean it’s just literally talking about cleaning we leave those like blank except that in the middle and that was getting 60% Upton which is still damn good as soon as we put those trust amounts in it went up to 70% so huge so I mean really quick basically you know we have all media training stuff that we also work with our it’s on but very quickly what you would do is you just have to look for timely topical controversial topics basically that’s what the media is looking for timely topical and controversial you know so just look at what’s in the news right now and you know you just kind of go okay well here’s my take on that and then the second part of course is finding that producer finding the people to write to about that what’s really nice right now is there are so many podcasts I mean you just go to iTunes and type in whatever niche you’re in whether it’s marketing or self-help or relationships parenting religion I mean you know there’s just tens of thousands of podcasts and most of them by far are looking for guests by far most of them are always looking for guests so you just do a little research or you can hire a VA to do that you know we have one of our VA s that’s working on that for me and honestly it just kind of becomes just a machine but basically it comes down to that as I said the the timely topical controversial topics put your own spin on them contact those producers and you know you just have to keep working at it and do keep a spreadsheet of your efforts too because that’s important so you can do the follow-ups I love it well no it’s just so made I love even your next pages that’s kind of going through your love your the two-step order form you know shipping on one side information on the other love the video on there but I think the part I’m super and get obvious you’ve got a ton of the you know trust guard type of stuff down there but the part I love is are your testimonials below it them you’ve got three different testimonials and I think the problem that a lot of people make the mistake on which is so cool to see obviously didn’t and that is you know pig people typically gonna just put the test or the video there and expect a person to read so just play it and listen and you’ve actually got a caption under each one of them under my annual income in 44 days following Noah’s formula like oh my gosh I need to hear that one or they all say freeze percent after working with Noah or I went from a total failure to build a multi-million dollar company using those methods I mean it’s just awesome I also love how the the image is actually only half of the video screen the way it’s that comes a cried right it enhances that curiosity I those same results here is your host Dave Woodward on your host Dave Woodward and you guys are gonna love today’s show because we are living gonna be all over the board I have the opportunity to having a dear friend of mine who I’ve known for what seems like an eternity so welcome to the show Joel comm hey it does feel like a long time in fact I was recently going through my DVD collection yes those still exist and I found a DVD from I want to say 2007 maybe 2008 when you came to my home in Northern Colorado and interviewed me for what was the name of it it was necessary marketers legendary marketers yeah we spent time together was really funny to go back and watch that it was almost like Joel 1.0 funny yeah I was talking with Russell about a while back as far as also be fun to go back so I ended up those guys don’t know about the legendary markers calm that was my very first entree into creating a product for internet marketing and it was fascinating excited the opportunity literally I flew around the country way before video was as big as it is today and had a video camera guy with me and basically filmed the the lifestyles of the rich and famous internet marketers and it was actually an amazing time SAS spending time it was a real show yeah really beautifully produced thank you we had a great time it really was it was it was a lot of fun and thank you for that but it’s been interesting to see some of those relationships I’ve I have done so much with the ten people I I got to meet during that and it’s just been fascinating Joel obviously it’s been fun seeing you at different times throughout your career and all the stuff that you’ve done and everything right now from live video to being a brand ambassador I mean you’ve been I mean you I think at that time it was primarily Adsense with some of the stuff we were talking about them but then but geez you know since then you New York Times best seller of what four different books at least through I don’t have well well only one is that the New York Times bestseller list but I’ve got the top-selling look to my knowledge on Twitter and published another number of other successful titles I I think again it’s just fun seeing the stuff that you’ve done over the years and now you’re involved in in Bitcoin but you guys can wait till the end of this it’s gonna be kind of a cliffhanger here to find out about Bitcoin and how that’s gonna tie into final hacker radio today but yeah with that said I want dive right into this whole idea as far as live video which I know you’ve been a huge proponent of you’ve done a ton of video shows in fact way back when you actually did the internet marketer of the what was yours called in that well he did a reality show reality show years ago called the next internet millionaire man it was the world’s first competitive internet reality show was kind of like The Apprentice Meets YouTube and you know we auditioned contestants and brought in successful internet millionaires to teach them and it was 13 full-length episodes and people can I still get comments about it 10 years after it aired and it’s next internet millionaire com we put all the episodes up on YouTube because the site we initially hosted them on went they went out of business they sold and all the videos disappeared so we lost all the views but we saved the show and it’s still available awesome well this whole idea right now as far as live video and I know you’re brand ambassador so first of all tell people what a brand ambassador actually means well brand ambassador means that for me what it means is I fell in love with the product or service and was a customer and then in conversations with the business themselves they saw that it would be advantageous for me to become paid to endorse publicly the brand and so there’s actually three brands in the live video space that I’ve worked out such arrangements and you know I was talking about them before they paid me because I was a customer and now I’m talking about them even more as I’m creating broadcasts for them and sharing about them and one of them is dot live which is a domain extension offered by doughnuts com they actually offer a lot of the alternative top-level domain extensions and I and myself in the dot live space by registering and setting up a website at Joel dot live it makes it really easy for people to make the connection hey this is where Joel’s information about being live is going to appear you know whether it’s speaking live or being live on video so when I encourage people to register their dot live domain in doing so and then I’m a brand ambassador for B live TV which is again I’ve used them for about a year and several months ago we started having discussions about me being even more proactive there the only tool that I know of that allows you to add functionality to Facebook live that Facebook doesn’t let you do such as two person interviews lower thirds on screen comments screen shares these types of things and it’s made for Facebook live so that’s B live TV and then finally there was one other tool that I was using Dave when I was doing unboxings cool gear that people would send me I wanted multiple cameras to show different angles but you know without complex production gear that’s hard to do so this company called switcher studio came up with an app that allows you to use your iOS devices as cameras for a live video so I’ll set them up in different locations and I can produce on the fly this multi camera broadcast direct to Facebook or periscope or YouTube or wherever using this tool and that switcher studio.com I love it well let’s spend some time talking about this whole concept as far as live you’ve been doing a ton of video for a long time especially on the live and that’s obviously why you’re an ambassador for these different companies so what are some of the things that you’re seeing as far as why why is live Facebook live and B live and and all these other why is it getting so much traction and and what kind of traffic in a person expect to get as far as building up that type of an audience well you know I’ve seen all the social sites come I’ve seen some of them go and I am of the mindset that live video is the most significant leap in social media since the iPhone came out since we were able to engage on social platforms on the iPhone because what it does is that shortcuts the process to being able to reach a global audience you know there’s no reason you can’t pick up your phone launch Facebook and in go live it without having to spend a dime it doesn’t cost you anything to be able to go live and start sharing your message and of course if your message is compelling then you will draw an audience and people will share your broadcast with their friends and their followers and so it is literally the lowest hanging fruit I guess not literally figuratively if it’s the lowest hanging fruit in being able to share your message with the world I love it tell me what I get this question all the time as far as you know how long should these lives be is there their magic to it you know what matters most all that kind of stuff what what are you finding works for generating a lot of engagement to a life any sort of live video well you know people have this mindset that they need to create viral marketing and that’s the wrong mindset you don’t create viral marketing what you do is you tell stories and when your story is so compelling that other people will retell it for you that’s how you go viral and so really what it comes down to is how compelling is the story that you have to tell are you going to teach people something are you going to inspire or motivate them are you going to entertain them are you going to bring them into and experience all of these different ways of storytelling or ways that we can capture the attention of an audience and with live the thing that we have that we don’t have for example with this podcast right we’re recording this podcast and I anticipate that you get feedback from your shows after people listen to them but with live video that feedback happens instantaneously people who are watching can type in their questions their comments their feedback as you’re live and as the broadcaster you have the opportunity to engage with them live bringing them into the broadcasts with you so it’s not a one-way conversation but rather it’s interactive and it’s engaging so the more engaging you are the more people will comment to you and then as you speak back to them now you’ve created more than just a live broadcast you’ve created a conversation and people who are watching want to be part of that conversation and that’s what makes live video so sticky I love it I can tell you that the fun part for me has been really almost doing a Facebook live challenge I think what you mentioned and is so important to me personally and that is getting better at telling stories I mean you’re a great storyteller Julie done it for years it’s always fun even interviewing you because you talk and soundbites and you’re just very good it’s just fun because I eat you’re used to doing this kind of stuff that’s not the case for most people right and so I’ve actually started I did a 30 day Facebook live challenge more for myself just tried to get better at telling stories and I’m in the midst right now of doing 90 days I think I’m a day twenty one for the whole and purpose basically of just trying to get better again it’s more about me than it is the audience I’m just trying to get better at telling stories and so I was I’m curious from your with all your experience as far as being a great storyteller what are some of the tips and tricks that you found that helped create engaging stories especially when you’re doing it live well the first thing to remember is that I know this might bruised some egos but it’s not about you you know people go on and they they get all nervous and they wonder what they’re gonna say and if they’re gonna make mistakes well you know you gotta you gotta break out of that because it’s not about you you have people first of all you have value to bring right whether it’s knowledge or inspiration or entertainment or experience whatever it is you have something you want to bring and when you take your focus off of yourself and instead put it on the people who will derive value from the time that you spend with them it takes away a lot of the nerves and it allows you to focus more on that value you know with live video people get hung up on the set well here’s the thing the world changed we don’t believe the slick polished sets that we see on the news anymore we know that these are house of cards and that we’re all just people were all fallible so keep it real don’t worry how you know if you see me on live video odds are you’ll see me if I’m at home I’m in my home office and I’m my shelf behind me are two emoji pillows one of them is a poem oh gee you know I just I’d like to hey I’m down-to-earth I’m real and this is what I have in my office and there’s no reason for me to be anything other than Who I am so authenticity is important a lot of people get worried about how they look you know is my hair and makeup on point it doesn’t have to be again people connect to real and they worry about their script you know this is not scripted live is a conversation all you’re doing is sharing what you want to tell with people and then engaging with your audience when you bring authentic content and you engage with your audience the the math for this equals relationship and that is the bottom line for marketing in this 21st century it’s all about relationship with the people that you are speaking with this is how you get customers this is how you get repeat customers this is how you get raving fan customers that bring you more customers authentic content plus engagement equals relationship that’s where the win is I love that and for those guys you don’t know why don’t you tell them that why you actually have a poo emoji icon behind you oh well the poo moji is my spirit emoji he also happens to be the founder the creator of the I fart app is that so true that is well yeah it was true no I actually I have partners in I fart LLC which actually is a company Christopher Jones formerly of pepper Jam is a partner in Dan Nickerson who was my former VP of ideas is is my partner and actually I have to give Dan credit because he really most of the mastermind behind the content of that app and it still sells we still get royalty checks for that thing and that came out in December of 2008 so we’re coming up on nine years and you know we kind of changed the face of the App Store where novelty apps are concerned when that thing came out it went to number one for three weeks and continues in fact just last week Dave I got a call from a journalist with the next web.com big site and they wanted to tell you they wanted to hear the whole story and they’re doing a piece on it it just it’s it’s the gift that keeps giving that’s awesome I have my kids have downloaded that app so many times that’s the joy of having four boys never get old that’s right so back to viral marketing I want two things I wanted to make mention of Joe and that is as as you work with people as far as helping them tell stories and I love the idea as far as you know getting people engaged and really connecting with your audience do you find that what are some of the areas that you’re using it personally in what are some of things you’re doing cuz I know they’re for a while I saw you basically going on a walk every day and you were doing your you know Facebook live on a walk I’ve seen you I’ve literally seen you do all sorts of different things what are some of the things you personally are using live live TV for these days uh so these days I’m heavily into doing shows live broadcast particularly using be live TV I do two shows weekly that are broadcast to the be live TV page on Facebook on Mondays I do be live weekly which is three o’clock Eastern noon pacific and what that is is latest news from the live video space some funny stories and then i will bring in a guest for 30 to 40 minutes and for example yesterday i did a show and I had Matthew Lesko on the show the the guy in the question mark suit that’s been you know infomercials for four decades and he was he was great he teaches people how to get free money with government grants yeah he’s still dropping knowledge at the age of 74 was fantastic and then the other show I do for be live is called Joel dot live and it’s an interview based show on Thursdays at 3:00 Eastern noon pacific again on the be live TV page on Facebook and you know I find people that I think are interesting you know whether they’re in the world of business entertainment what-have-you and in talk to him have conversations then you know whenever I do an unboxing I like to broadcast those types of things and that’s when I use switcher studio to show people hey check out this new gadget I got and they can look at it from overhead or you know it’s on me for a time or as picture-in-picture it’s all kinds of fun things I can do with that occasionally I will be out and about maybe at an event and I’ll do a live on location from where I am but I you’re right that I dabble with a lot of things you know I kind of see the world as this big sandbox or this place with a lot of different sand boxes and and I play I try because I want to see what would this be like if I did this I I never head into them thinking okay this is going to be a business model I just I try things and and then I see you know okay how did that feel for me did I like it that I have fun did my audience engage with it and depending upon how it went maybe I’ll try it again so sometimes you’ll see the you know walking with Joel for a while on periscope I did the top five scope I think I did fifty or so episodes of that and now I’m pretty nailed down with what my pattern you know what my mo looks like in terms of the broadcast I do because I’m committed as a brand ambassador to bringing value to the brand’s and introducing people to them and I’m also knee-deep in a completely different niche on a new podcast that’s being very successful so you know and now I’ve got to be just a little bit more disciplined and I don’t have quite as much time to experiment but I’m having so much fun doing what I’m doing that there’s no reason to try some other things right now I love it so if you give people a couple of just real quick tips as far as doing a live video what would be three or four of you big tips what would you recommend well the four I want to revisit something I already said the first one is get over yourself it’s not about you okay take the focus off yourself and put it on the people that you’re bringing value to second thing is look at the camera for the love of all things please look at the camera don’t look at yourself on the screen you know what you look like if there’s any questions about that go look in the mirror before you start but then look at the camera because you know we connect with eyes we don’t you know and if we you’re looking at yourself on the screen your eyes aren’t connecting with where your audience’s look at them talk to them speak with them and then don’t be afraid to try some of these different platforms you know there’s so many there’s Facebook live and there’s different ways to go live to Facebook there’s YouTube live there’s periscope aka Twitter live and there’s a dozen other apps you know Instagram live and people are like well which one do I use hey try them all see which one’s a you enjoy using and B where are you getting the greatest engagement and that’s where you’re gonna find your tribe you don’t have to do them all I only gone live on Instagram maybe twice the whole time it’s been available because that’s not where my tribe is and it’s not where I have fun connecting with people you’ll see me on Facebook in periscope but yeah look for your tribe and then speak to them there I love it well we
