Funnel Hacker Radio Episode 179 – How to Scale Your Ads & Sales Like “Purple Mattress”

Funnel Hacker Radio Episode 179 – How to Scale Your Ads & Sales Like “Purple Mattress”

Why Dave Chose to Interview Bryant:

Bryant Garvin has been running ads for over 12 years. He is the ads guy at “Purple” where they are running 50K-100K a day in ads. He knows what he is talking about. He explains how to make partners out of your vendors. He reveals his strategy on using multiple networks to scale ads. He even discusses his top 3 hidden networks no one else is using.

Tips and Tricks for Your Business:

Bryant has realized over the years how overly obsessed people get on one advertising outlet (1:16)

The price of focusing on one platform through looking at the cost to reach 1,000 people [CPM] (2:24)

The scaling of Purple Mattress to be able to spend $50k/day on Facebook ads and remain profitable (4:38)

Bryant breaks down why Youtube can be more valuable than Facebook for your videos (7:44)

If you’re looking to migrate your videos to Youtube, Bryant has some words of advice (9:38)

Brand lift is super helpful, luckily if you’re like us and have never heard of it Bryant gives us the low down (13:00)

Other than YouTube and Facebook, Bryant has 15-16 other advertising channels going for his product (20:36)

Quotable Moments:

“They’ve gotten in trouble with putting all of their eggs in one basket. And, really, it’s about strategically growing across all platforms and becoming OMNIPRESENT.”

“So we’re always looking for a unique place where everybody else isn’t playing where we can still reach the people we want without having to compete with everybody else.”

“If you are stuck in one channel and that’s all you’re using to drive your revenue, something will happen eventually: and you will go out of business or close to it so you’ve got to diversify it ”

Other Tidbits:

Bryant Garvin and his company have helped Purple Mattress launch and become astronomically successful. You can tell just how successful they are by the amount of times you continually see their ads consistently on varying platforms.

Although this podcast is not a plug for using Youtube for ads, Bryant brings up several great points as to how it’s underused. While Facebook’s ads have recently received a 117% increase, Youtube’s have remained stable for years.

Bryant’s main wish to leave with all of us is for us not to all be “One Trick Ad Ponies”. If we all want to build a true brand then you need to be diverse. You need to be testing where your audience is to see where you should be pushing ads to. Once you see where your audience is you will then be able to see where you can afford to make efforts to expand your audience and reach.

Audio Clips:

(3:00-3:14) “I wouldn’t be surprised this year if when they pull all of the data together there is a 300% increase in cost to reach that same thousand people you were able to at the beginning of the year.”

(8:03-8:18) “Not to mention that 98% of Facebook videos are watched with the sound off whereas 98% of videos are watched with the sound on on Youtube. That’s a completely different experience. Would you watch a movie with the sound off? No. It wouldn’t have the same impact”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward I’m your host Dave Woodward and today you guys are in for a massive massive treat and I’m so excited to introduce to you guys to brian Garvin Brian welcome to the show hey so I had to be here excited to be a part of the community man so some of you guys might not know who Bryant is but you see him absolutely everywhere if you’re on any social media platform at all because he is the ads guy behind purple purple mattress company and it’s got his own podcast out right now called Scott stack the odds stacked the odds and he’s been just crushing it with purple it’s a super again it’s a crazy crazy hope everything you guys have done at purple it’s been amazing to see how you basically taking this thing I know you guys work apartment brothers as we did with deer cliff falls stuff I want to dive right in though and kind of talk about some of the amazing stuff that you guys are doing and help let’s hide it nobody dived in as far as what does stack the ads in really mean why is stacking ads so important to house what’s that we’ll talk so one of my buddies we started this little side Facebook page and podcast originally because I’ve been doing this for twelve plus years and one of the things that I’ve seen with almost every single company that I consult with especially in the e-commerce space and over the last year or two everybody is like 150 percent in on Facebook and ignoring everything else and I’ve ever been a part of that or help to and consult with they’ve gotten into trouble it’s because they put all their eggs in one basket and so really it’s about strategically growing across multiple platforms being omnipresent right at least on a retargeting front like if you can just get on a couple of different platforms you literally become omnipresent to people that have been to your site that have seen your stuff so you’re just constantly there and you don’t even have to spend a significant amount to be that omnipresent right the people that have interacted with you that you drove in from Facebook ads right in Facebook especially but what are some of the stats this year it’s almost tripled in price and CPM is 171 percent increase through July according to ad stage like that’s massive that’s a huge I don’t understand what you just said because CPM doesn’t mean that’s kind of our lingo so it helped people to get what when you’re saying hundred seventy-one percent CPM what’s that really mean Brian so basically the cost to reach a thousand people increased a hundred and seventy one percent from just January through July this year and anybody that’s actually been watching their ads knows that it’s even spiked even more through the end of the year so I wouldn’t be surprised if this year when they pull all of the data together that there’s like a 300% increase in cost to reach the same thousand people that you were able to at the beginning of the year like that’s massive that is huge and so again for you guys were listening understand what we’re really talking about is it’s gonna cost you three times as much Tim to get to the same thousand people you’re gonna have to have a really solid funnel built out because your cost of acquisition by an ad standpoint just went up three three times as much so it’s again super critical that’s really why I want to make sure Brian was on here to talk to you guys about how do you scale ads how do you drive more traffic while actually being able to really stay within a fixed budget that being I don’t know how much just purple spinning them Phaeton ads these days I can’t give actual numbers so if it would be I’m sure it’s more than a thousand so how many zero so we need to add behind that thousands get kind of close a few units yeah a day and we do manage our budgets on a daily basis and it just scales from there right to weekly monthly annually all of that type of stuff one of the things safe to say you’re spending over a hundred thousand today some days yeah so it is a somewhere between fifty thousand hundred thousand a day yeah that’s that’s a very conservative estimate so we’re you’re getting a lot of bad exposure for I’m just trying to help establish the fact that you know what you’re talking about here so yeah thousand dollars a day Facebook yeah I think you got a pretty good idea as far as what your what’s going on so Facebook YouTube all of the different platforms right that’s that’s actually one of the things that’s a loud purple to scale and leave scaled profitably because up and tell this merger IPO stuff going through right it was all 100% self-funded and that money hasn’t even come through yet so the continuation of the business every machine that we have to build all of the products that we have to buy because this is physical products it’s not as easy as spinning up another server right like a version not that that’s easy but it’s a lot easier to scale ass ass platform by just spinning up servers and duplicating them then coming to actually physically produce manufacturer package and ship product right so to scale ecommerce is significantly different than scaling a legion or a SAS type of platform because there is something tangible that has to be produced and shipped when you’re talking physical product goods obviously SAS is technically kind of e-commerce because they’re buying it online right and did ebooks or all of these other things or e-commerce things as well and not all of them are physical and tangible but with purple it has been and one of the reasons why we’ve been able to grow like when people think about scaling online right they think about Facebook and doing that because that’s where everybody’s attention is that that’s all you hear about on podcast news there that’s all you hear about you know in the media and in all of the Facebook groups it’s like oh my gosh a lot right if you’re not on Facebook then you’re getting missing out type of stuff and there’s so many other platforms that are out there though the next place most people go is like oh well do non brand search right and that for those that don’t know the difference between non brand and brand search number and would mean that there’s not a specific brand attached to the search query so it’d be like memory foam mattress or buy a mattress online instead of purple mattress right and so most people that’s the next place that they go is into non brand because of the intent is really high they’re looking for a product that you hopefully have to offer right but everybody’s playing in that field as well and so CPC is on the mattress side can be 30 40 50 $80 a click I can get a lot of video views out of YouTube and Facebook and other stuff like that for that same amount of cost and then video is really where we’ve pushed in the floor right like started off with the Harmon brothers but we also some of our original videos that we had produced they weren’t Harmon brothers quality but they still engaged and they cost significantly less than that and we use those inherent below with to scale out our business as we’ve gone along here so that’s that’s really when everybody is digging right to Facebook you should be zagging going the opposite direction not saying don’t be on Facebook Facebook is still highly profitable if you know what you’re doing but if everybody is doing it it’s an option it’s going to increase the costs and targeted you get the more expensive it’s gonna get whereas you can go reach out into other platforms like YouTube as an example like YouTube is a massive platform that everybody has forgotten about you can get 30-second muse on YouTube for 5 to 10 cents if you actually went in and looked at what your cost for views on Facebook would be for 30 seconds it’s probably 50 cents plus and there’s a big difference there not to mention that like 98% of video views on Facebook are done with sound off whereas 98% are done with sound on on YouTube that’s a completely different experience would you watch a movie with the sound off you know it wouldn’t have the same impact right did you imagine watching the latest Star Wars with no sound just reading captions the same impact right and so people go to youtube specifically to watch videos they go to Facebook and it’s kind of like pulling a slot machine they’re not really sure what they’re gonna get they’re just looking to waste some time essentially maybe checked in on their family whatever so there’s opportunities that people just completely ignore and if you go where the people still are right there’s over a billion people on YouTube there’s over a billion hours of video watched every month there okay there’s lots of people still there in 68% of people on YouTube are actually using it for purchase consideration they’re going to YouTube to look up reviews to look up product demonstrations to do stuff like that so they’re actually using YouTube as a step in their purchase process so you’re not there you’re missing out right only nine percent of small businesses as a stat I saw recently are on YouTube but 68 percent of people are there looking for products to purchase like that’s a big disparity see disparities like that that spells opportunity right for those of us that know what we’re doing so how does a person who’s getting used to using Facebook from ad source how do they jump into YouTube what are some of the tips and strategies you recommend they do so I think so the first thing right and this is something you won’t find anywhere it’s something that I actually had to get Google to confirm is Google has attribution inside of Google okay but it is 100% limited to search so if you are running your YouTube campaigns in your search account where you run your brand search and they watch a video and then go search on your brand that brand search gets a hundred percent of the credit and you have no idea that the video did anything one of the first things that I tell people if they’re serious about it and they should be is actually creating an my client center or a managed account center so that you have your main account with your brand your search all of that stuff and then you have a separate YouTube and prospecting display account set up a separate conversion event so that way you can have and it’s not never gonna track the same as Facebook right Facebook’s amazing what the cross device and really tributing as much revenue as it possibly can YouTube will never look the same on a direct row ass basis but it drives lift there’s so many times that I look like somebody skipping an ad right the first five seconds if they skip the ad first off you pay zero dollars for that okay that’s just that people need to understand because it’s one of the things I first started looking at YouTube people were like I’m paying for all this stuff when they skip and I I never even get they don’t even see it so I think that’s I appreciate you clarifying that Brian is you don’t pay anything for skip down yeah they if they watch up to 29 seconds of your video and it’s longer than that and they stews to skip at the 29 second mark you pay nothing it’s 30 seconds or a completed view so if your video is less than 30 seconds that’s when you’ll be charged so really get a reason to have longer than 30 and like where else can you get 5 to 10 I like not even a penny right like yeah you may be getting penny or two penny three second views on Facebook you get the same ones for zero on YouTube right and so but one of the things that you can do if you’re spending enough money with Google is they can set up brand lift surveys on the back end where the audience’s that you’re targeting they’ll exclude part of them okay so the minimums like twenty-five thousand over two weeks which there’s a lot of money for some companies right but the data that you can get out of it because you can actually see the lift of people that searched for your brand terms versus those that didn’t see the video and so a lot of times you can get a thousand percent lift in brand search from somebody that watch the video versus somebody that didn’t even people that skip the ad you can get two hundred three hundred four hundred five hundred percent lift in brand search from somebody that skipped the ad like that’s freaking amazing and you paid for that like that’s like you paid nothing they went and searched you paid on that click and hopefully right if your you should be bidding on your brand terms because everybody else will be right so like the opportunity is massive there I’m really bullish on YouTube because there’s so much inventory and remember how we talked about the increasing cost on Facebook CPM have basically then flat on YouTube year-over-year like that’s huge that’s fantastic so tell me explain to people what brand lift means so brand lift is and we’ll use purple as an example right the non brand search would be memory foam mattress or buy a mattress online a brand search would be purple mattress okay and so brand lift is actually somebody going out and searching on a brand term so for click funnels right it would be somebody searching click funnels because they saw YouTube yeah does that make sense yeah so it’s on youtubers that on Google its YouTube and Google so and one of the things that’s important there is you should build out brand search campaigns on YouTube as well because I’ve seen instances where we’re actually getting 35% more brand searches on YouTube than we are on Google so if you’re if you’re not there you can completely miss out of an opportunity right because no matter how amazing the product is there’s always a competitor and there’s always somebody that can try and negatively bosch messaging right that’s what marketing really is is making sure that we’re putting our best foot forward super cool stuff so tell me what are some of the tools and things that you’re using inside of YouTube for a video standpoint I know one things we’ve looked at is like bid IQ and and some other resources what do you what are you guys using and so did IQ is really awesome from a cost standpoint first off if you had the free version right and then they’ve got it really does not cost that much for what you can do you need to make sure that you’re getting your end cards set up so like your end screen needs to look a little bit different than your end screen on Facebook that’s another stat that’s really important most people watching vertical on Facebook but 85% of people are watching horizontal on YouTube because they are going there to watch video right so like whereas on Facebook you want square vertical videos on YouTube you want the 16 by 9 aspect ratio that widescreen because that’s what people are that’s what people are looking for but those end screens when they watched your video and then you had like other videos they could go watch and a call to action that needs to be a little bit different than on Facebook because you can actually have them click on mobile right to your site you can have it and watch another video which you don’t necessarily get with Facebook right so if somebody watches all the way to the end make sure you have them subscribe make sure you you know do all of those different things because next time you push out a video organically don’t get a notification that it came out it’s kind of like going live on Facebook right like there’s that opportunity there that trying to get those subscribers there and you’re never gonna have as many generally I’m going to do on Facebook right like you too we have close to a hundred thousand subscribers for your purple we’ve got almost half a million on Facebook but that’s okay because the quality of those subscribers they want to watch video that’s their whole entire purpose for being there so if you can give them that it’s freaking awesome real quick before you save that thought so I want to come back to but I think what you just made mention of there is real important that is the you have to set this up for the audience that you’re targeting and anybody who’s on YouTube that audience are video watching people and I love that idea so for us I know we started created a whole bunch of our funnel hacker TV episodes on YouTube and again it’s been I think we’re just I think we did cross tube number 80 right now and a lot of these are just for entertainment value but man we are seeding clickfunnels all the way through this in different types of things we just did one Todd Dickerson was out looking for his affiliate dream car and just got a Mercedes then went through and did you know it’s a ten minute segment I’m basically looking at cars that’s all pushing towards our what’s your dream car affiliate program I think it’s it’s really cool though as you made mention there that yeah it’s a different audience and it’s not as large as Facebook but the quality and those who are they’re already pre-qualified to watch video and they’re they’ve trained themselves they know the actions they need to take so I love that idea and and it is a very large audience so 85 percent of 18 to 49 year olds are watching YouTube every single month so that’s still most of the audience that people are trying to go after right that 18 to 49 is pretty much one of the biggest buying demographics especially online and so if you are not on YouTube you are missing out on potentially 85% of the audience but yes you may be able to get on Facebook but it’s gonna cost you significantly more to reach those same people and that’s really what it’s about is hedging your bets right one of the porters by forces a supplier right the supplier side of stuff well in advertising that’s the different channels that you’re using and if you are stuck in one channel and that’s all you’re using to drive your revenue something will happen eventually and you will go out of business or close to it and so you’ve got to diversify we talked about diversifying products we talked about diversifying you know your back-end your friend and all of these different pieces right we get people ignore diversifying their traffic sources they either go all-in on organic or all-in on Facebook or you know what I mean and then when an algorithm change comes and all Facebook is emitting reach or you know SEO just you just get hammered because they shut down you know personal blog networks right the they’re like oh my gosh my business and you’re like well that’s your own fault because you diversify I mean would we be ups would we honestly be sad if Walmart went out of business because they decided not to diversify no that’s their fault right and any business can do it look at some of the major businesses that have gone out of business over the last little while Sears Kmart you know like all Bourbons I think it’s just retailers right yeah like that’s just a few of them all the you know Circuit City like CompUSA think about all of these retailers that some of them had existed for hundreds plus years others were fairly new but none of them diversified the way they needed to to be able to sustain their business they may have happened to them it can happen to anybody really yeah my gosh Facebook live earlier today just on the whole idea as far as number one is the work the number one is worst number in business if you only have one product you only have one source of traffic you’ll only have one JV partner I mean if your whole business is tied to that one person you are at their mercy and again mark decides to change how things work on Facebook your whole business is gone exactly exactly so that’s why I started all of the stuff that I’m doing is because I see it time and time again and I’m honest the tire to get people like are getting the wrong message for most of the quote-unquote gurus out there right like they’re all like hey Facebook Facebook Facebook and you’re like but yeah Facebook but right it’s not a no ignore Facebook because there’s still so much opportunity you’re going to get so many more shares comments likes things like that on your facebook video than you will on a YouTube video use the platforms for what they were intended for use Facebook to try and grow that social Reach find audiences that all they do is share even if they don’t buy somebody that they share with probably will right so you’ve got to look at the type of stuff use the back end you know they’re rolling out some Facebook analytics stuff where you can actually track people that have liked a comment to purchase or shared a video to purchase and so like there’s some of this analytic stuff that’s coming down the pipeline that you’ll be able to use outside of Google Analytics to try and see assign some value to some of those other things that’s awesome so what else besides Facebook and YouTube you guys playing with so we play across a really wide gamut I think we manage fifteen or sixteen channels right now yeah so then we’ve got a team of six right now doing that so we we the key to us growing has been to make partners out of our vendors we don’t call them vendors we call cohort groups so they understand that they’ll succeed if we succeed we have row last numbers that we have to hit if we can’t hit those numbers then we’re not going to spend as much with them we rely on them to do a lot of the heavy lifting so if you’re spending and enough with some of these platforms they can help build out some of these things Facebook not so much well with Google I can have them build out my ad account like my campaigns if I want to I tell them what I’m looking for they do the quick and dirty grunt work right I go in and double check and then we were able to turn them wife so we’re lying on some of those partners like that so obviously we’re on Google and being in Yahoo Gemini which is now both I guess with AOL but also a lot of smaller platforms right like we’ve tested out US Postal Service removing address stuffs or like forcing change of address we’ve tested platforms like hive wire an Amazon media group if people don’t know Amazon media group they should Amazon is probably the third biggest player coming up that people are ignoring Amazon has an advertising arm that they are building out internally now the minimums they’re a little bit higher and it’s not the click to see you know when somebody does a product search that adds that you can click and serve internally on Amazon this is taking Amazon’s targeting data people that have searched for a mattress viewed mattress has done stuff like that but have not purchased on Amazon we can send them display ads or ads on their Kindle and so they can see that and drive them to our site or to our product detail page on Amazon and so yes the minimum thresholds there are around thirty thousand a month you need to be spending that’s $1,000 day most businesses if you’re doing what you should be are probably spending that other places so I would recommend definitely testing that as an opportunity especially if you’re in an e-commerce space very cool I again I’m not familiar I wasn’t that I Amazon media stuff also where’s where do the ads show up then so across the network so Amazon first up owns like IMDB and a bunch of other platforms that people don’t realize that they own so you can serve the ads on those placements but they’re also programmatically buying across the web through DSPs but using their targeting data and that’s really where the power comes in right because targeting like it’s the audience that you’re hitting right and if you know people are in market looking at something and you can hit them somewhere else that’s the gold right love that do that a super super cool idea I think that that whole idea as far as the Amazon media side is something I’m gonna where you look into on our side for sure that’s obviously works more for a physical products cuz that’s usually people buying on Amazon I’m assuming it could be ebooks it could be ebooks different stuff like that right because if you have people that are buying Kindle books you could target them to get your ebook potentially or software right yeah it may need to be a package but if people are looking for software and you can do a sass subscription it may be worth looking at right it just depends on what’s there and but if you don’t look you’ll never know right and so we are constantly looking at different platforms I just got off a call this morning with media net which is perform media and they’re one of the biggest um third party companies they actually powered for the lung being Yahoo contextual side of the business and so they’ve kind of broken out a lot of former Yahoo people have gone over there to perform media where you can on Forbes as an example right there’s the little related topics suggest when it comes at the bottom there when you click on that it returns a search results page those top results used to be filtered by Google or Bing now they’re filtered by them as ads and then there’s organic content below that so there’s some pretty cool like there’s new opportunities and we’re always exploring something that offers a unique place or add either a unique ad unit delivery right or unique audience that we might not be able to reach somewhere else and so we’re always looking for unique plays where everybody else isn’t playing where we can still reach the people that we want but not have to compete with everybody else I love that idea are you guys doing much on Instagram or Pinterest or anything yeah we’re running some one Instagram and Pinterest obviously instagrams run through a space but we’re testing some stories stuff there where we do really not obviously all of our retargeting and stuff passed off like that’s the big thing right whenever we’ve gone and we’ve started with new platforms like when we started with Yahoo Gemini right like the first thing we did was we set up all of our brand search because we can get a cheaper through Yahoo Gemini and then I can being in second because they’re not having to cut off part of the margin right so and we based about 30% savings you can get it through Yahoo Gemini so that but also setting up retargeting for native for display ads for you know some of those other platforms every platform we go into at a minimum you should be setting up retargeting because you where your audiences it doesn’t matter where they are if they are your audience you want to be there right Oh miss Frances that is my one caveat there as long as it’s brand safe for your brand yeah I just love oh gosh seriously right thank you so much as we get close to wrapping things up there anything else you want to add her um no I I just one of the things that I said and some people said that it’s a little rocket Orion that’s not what I’m trying to do but I really want people to stop being one-trick ponies I love it no I told me if you want a long-term viable business first off you need to be building a brand it’s something that’s distinguishable and second we needed by diversifying everything so that you can be around long term whether that’s to sell to somebody else eventually because if you diversify well I think it was on your podcast uh not that long ago where I was talking about Amazon versus having a separate e-commerce store yeah like the multiples you could sell if you were just on Amazon versus Amazon and your own platform right so it’s the same thing with everything else the more diversified you are the more stable your business is you built a foundation that’s wider instead of just taller so if that makes sense no I love it’s so funny because you know a lot of us came from the whole direct-response marketing days where you know branding was the old you know food poop type of stuff on coke and all these other guys and we’re really starting to see right now with the direct response marketing is great for the client acquisition but the branding is so critical long-term for the lifetime value of that customer so it’s it’s amazing how you really can create a brand out of again I look at some of the our inner circle people and they really have created their own brands I know obviously lady boss is one that’s done extremely well but we’re seeing Alex promotion and as Jimbo I mean it’s just crazy to see the different types of people I look at as you started again with the direct response marketing getting those customers and then building that culture through that branding aspect man you just blow you it just grows like crazy exactly and I like that you brought up the direct response side right because that’s my background I said we get Lycos in Adsense account rep right and so like I come from that very direct response paradigm shift where if it’s not trackable I don’t want to do it and as you mature I don’t know if it’s me maturing or just my understanding of the consumer behavior that I would rather have revenue I couldn’t track then have less revenue that I could if that myself man that’s awesome so an idea I love that for sure that’s a great even if you can’t track it but you get the cell what the hell doesn’t matter right like the day you’ve got money in your bank account yes it would be great if you could track everybody and every person but as an example 65% of Purple’s funnel upfront is female 65% male closing that’s because there’s a lot of cross relationship stuff happening and I don’t know anybody that’s developed cross spouse attribution yet right thank you so much so as I’m sure people who want to get a hold of you what’s the best way they’re reaching out to you so you can look up our Facebook page on stack dads or check out our podcast stack the odds show it’s on pretty much all of the platforms there so thing we’ve got 12 or 13 episodes up right now but again it’s me and my buddy all about advertising some of the stuff that we’ve seen over the years mistakes that we’ve seen harping on things attribution like all of that stuff so I love it Brian again so glad to have you on thank you so much for all you’re doing get it guys definitely check out Brian his stuff that he’s cutting edge again as you meant 50 to $100,000 a day in traffic I mean that’s this guy knows what he’s talking about so listen welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back to radio today is another day where you get the opportunity to having both myself and Jewish stoyan on the call welcome Julie hey hey hi everybody so glad to be here if you haven’t already listened to Julie she did her own podcast with when we first started what seems like an eternity ago a couple weeks ago we just had or a couple episodes ago we had her on talking about becoming the very best in the world and today what I want to talk about are some of the traffic secrets we’re gonna open up a kind of traffic secrets series here kind of might be the opportunity to kind of bugging and picking her brain on different things today’s topic is Pinterest and your sales funnel so with all that said let’s just dive right into this Julien let’s talk about Pinterest is something I have never I get I don’t know if it’s a gender thing I don’t know what it is but Pinterest is just not my thing so I needed you to come on board basically tell us how in the world you use Pinterest to drive traffic to your sales funnels well it’s okay it is I think it is really a gender thing because Pinterest is a heavily female dominated platform for sure so a couple things to know immediately about Pinterest is the first thing is it started out as a social network but it’s really a search engine it has not it’s not really a social network anymore so the three largest search engines in the world are Google Amazon and Pinterest so if you have a female audience you it’s like you cannot afford not to be on Pinterest because it is used as almost as much as Google especially in niches that have to do with food and health even niches like starting your own business and business opportunity niches so much fashion all that kind of stuff is all on Pinterest so what I want to talk to you about today is that one of my clients Caitlyn from proofread anywhere she’s a two comma Club winner the primary source of her to comma Club award came from Pinterest and so people know that no I know it was Pinterest that did it I know I know dr. Berg yeah exactly so so the way Pinterest works and how it works differently is that on Facebook you send people to a landing page Pinterest hates landing pages so your sales funnel can’t you can’t send people directly to a landing page you have to send people to a blog post and that blog post can be written or it can be video it can be show notes it can be as long as it’s on a something that looks like a blog whether it’s a clickfunnels page doesn’t really matter like just make it look like a blog post of some kind you send people from Pinterest to the blog post and then in that blog post is a pop-up or an image or something that encourages them to opt-in and that’s how you go into your funnel so it’s kind of like when Russell talks about a bridge page that’s kind of what you need in Pinterest cool I love that analogy so if you are in any of those industries I said like you want to start creating blog post type bridge pages in your funnels and create beautiful vertical Pinterest images to put on Pinterest it has to be my beautiful okay I want to talk about that because that’s I suck at that right big terrible with that kind of stuff and again fortunately have Jake on our team as great graphics guy but I mean both you and Russell have this knack for what’s cool and beautiful and all that kind of stuff I don’t so what does a person like me do for help yeah so the simplest way to do it is first go to Pinterest and search in the Pinterest search bar and search what your what your niche is right so it’s like you know women’s fashion let’s say okay it comes up look at the pins that naturally catch your eye you’re gonna notice that that most of them are vertical they’re like 800 or 1200 sometimes though even longer they’re like 800 by 1600 they’re like really long vertical images if you really stink at design the best advice is to use canva and this is all you have to do you go you find a free stock image that you can use you put a stock image try to make it a pretty stock image like go to pixabay or a place like that that has like cool stock images don’t go to shut her sack put the image on a vertical template and then create a shape over it like a black shape a white shape whatever color matches your brand and make it a little bit transparent so it’s like you can kind of see the image but you can’t really that creates a little bit more of an artistic effect and then it puts some beautiful spots and words over the shape so you’ve got the picture you’ve got the shape you’ve got the words and the words need to be really bold because that is usually what catches people’s eye on Pinterest is like the text and then just stick your logo somewhere once you’ve done that template once save it in canva and then every time you have a new post or a new idea just swap out the stock image on the bottom and then swap out the text and you have your Pinterest template super easy awesome man that’s like value bomb like crazy I love hello like that yeah so once you have that image and that template you can just keep reusing it create all different kinds of bridge pages and you only need one funnel you could just have like 50 bridge pages if you want but they all go to that same funnel and you just create different pins and put them on Pinterest awesome so the pins on Pinterest then are leading to this bridge page and on the bridge page I know you mention as far as a blog whenever I think of a blog I’m thinking you know five to seven hundred words a longer type of thing what types of things can I have on that that bridge page and what things can I not have well so all I know is that Pinterest just doesn’t like it when it’s like a squeeze page where it’s like there’s no cons it’s like just like a headline and optoma they don’t like that so let’s say even your your show notes for your podcast right you put your your podcast you put the show notes that’s it that’s plenty like it’s just some sort of content that they can consume it doesn’t have to be like this big long blog post oh I might actually out using Pinterest for my for this pacer for this uh my careers you know so the the couple things to know is make sure your images are vertical always use a bridge page which can be a blog post or it can be a bridge page that you’re making click funnels yes there’s some content on it this the next thing you have to do is you have to find group boards to join and this is a little bit of work but you can find people that will help you do this for free I mean not for free but they’ll do it for you for a service and when you find group words you get more juice on your pins faster so I can go on Pinterest and I can pin a pope pin an image right and I’ve got five followers or I can join a group board that has 25,000 followers and pinned my pin on there and it’s more likely to get repent so is the whole game to reap anything inside of Pinterest yeah so it used to be it pinterest used to be where like you would have to have your boards and just one pin per like you didn’t want to repeat your pins and all that kind of stuff it was just like all like this beautiful layout almost kind of like Instagram but then it because it’s become a search engine and it’s so algorithm driven now it’s okay if you repin things again and again and again because Pinterest wants to see your account as being active so there’s all kinds of tools tailwind board booster places like this once you fill up your boards with content you just set it to automatically keep Reap inning and repin two different boards and group boards and things like that and then pinterest sees that your account is active and it starts to kind of elevate your account a little bit oh very cool so on the boards what do you have to do to avoid being spammy inside of the board I mean can the owner the board kick you out because you’re putting stuff on there yeah for sure so when you go to a group board it’ll tell you the rules it’ll be like you can pin here three times a day but you must also pin repin stuff from the group board you know what I mean it’s like a give-and-take kind of thing and this can all be automated very simply with board booster so simply so it doesn’t really take that much time once you set up your board booster account it just does it for you and so you usually just email them and they accept your pins and then you can set the set the schedule to pin and one of the things about Pinterest is you don’t have to produce all your own content you can repin other people’s content and it will elevate your rank on your Pinterest account so you’ll see all the best pinners they don’t just pin their own stuff they pin other people stuff because they’ve got their board booster pinning a hundred times a day Wow so unlike YouTube where basically they’re always looking for unique content here on Pinterest they’re not and so on Pinterest like with Facebook you’re looking for followers and a lot of the social sites you are are you still trying to play that same game inside of no it’s all it’s all like keyword it’s all like keyword algorithms stuff that’s why I’m saying it’s like really like a search engine more than it is a social network so you want to make sure that your image in addition to your image being beautiful your description needs to be very keyword dense think of it like you would from an SEO perspective use those keywords and the best way to find group boards is to find somebody really big in your niche so like let’s say you’re in food so you type in food babe right and you go to the food babes Pinterest profile and you look at her boards chances are she’s on a bunch of group boards and just click on her boards and then you can see who the owner is and what the requirements are and you can see if you can get on that group board that is awesome well Julie again you I have no idea about this topic and yeah I’ve been sitting thinking it looks like crazy so anyone’s watching the video very our funnel hacker TV the reason I’m keeping the left is I’m just taking a page of notes so love this so obviously I know you’re doing a ton of stuff here with clickfunnels content writing and all that kind of stuff people are gonna want to know more about this Julie so how can they get in contact with you or someone on your team or something to find out more about this whole Pinterest opportunity thing you know I think this traffic secret is crazy cool yeah well you know I I’m trying to think the best way to reach me I mean probably you could just hit me up in the clickfunnels group then you could just tag me in the clickfunnels group if you’re not part of the funnel hacker community I’ve got a bunch of resources of people this is what they do they do the scheduling for you and all that kind of stuff so I can definitely send you those names if you want it’s like really up your Pinterest game because it will yeah it it works it works just like SEO works but you know in those female-driven industries it makes a huge huge difference this is all like it becomes free traffic I mean I know it’s like the golden ticket you know yeah well before we wrap things up anything else you want to say about Pinterest just don’t don’t get overwhelmed and think that you have to be this massively cool blogger to get on Pinterest because you can just make a couple bridge pages and get on those group boards and you can start to start to gain some momentum that’s awesome so go ahead guys run out to clickfunnels comm get yourself a free trial there you can go ahead and use click files to create all Funnel Hacker Radio 177 – 7 Online Marketing & Sales Funnel Tips; Value Bombs From Genius Network

Funnel Hacker Radio 177 – 7 Online Marketing & Sales Funnel Tips; Value Bombs From Genius Network

Why Dave chose to share about his time at Genius Network:

Dave Woodward attended Joe Polish’s Genius Network November 2017. Here he shares the value bombs he learned in the 2 days he was there.

Tips and Tricks for Marketing and Your Business:

You can’t read the label of the jar that you’re in so you’ll need to look from an outside perspective to see what situation you’re really in (3:22)

Focus is something that you do, not something you have. You have to continually work on it to maintain it (3:46)

Jason Fladlien reinvented using testimonials, content, and getting 150 “yes’” (5:56)

Randi Zuckerberg’s balance of work and life (8:26)

Tony Robbins wants you to get obsessive with finding who you’re selling to and why they would want to buy (11:10)

Fall in love with your customer, not your product (14:13)

Buying back time (16:53)

Be 100% in charge but with no control, give the control to others. Funny concept right? (19:10)

Quotable Moments:

“As you take a look at your life try and focus on what you can get exponential returns on. You’re really trying to maximize your time”

“Too often people don’t want to put themselves out there into stressful situations. You have to get out there, you have to live on that. You have to realize there’s so much left that you’ve got to give and get uncomfortable. Get use to being uncomfortable”

“It doesn’t matter if you are a [glass] half full or a [glass] half empty kind of person. It only matters if you are going to fill the glass”

Other Tidbits of the Podcast:

Dave’s favorite one-liner from Genius Network was: “Life is easy when you live it the hard way and life is hard when you live it the easy way.” Dave is a huge enthusiast of grinding through the hard times so you can enjoy the finished product so much more as you feel the accomplished feeling coursing through you.

If you’re not throwing up once a month because of how hard of the intensity you’re pushing at then you’re not trying hard enough. Just don’t take that too literally. Randi Zuckerberg, the brain behind Facebook Lives, advised this to her audience purely as a metaphor to remind us of how much we really can do.

Tony Robbins told Dave and the rest of those at the conference that a belief is a poor substitute for an experience. How many people do you know that have an abundance of beliefs but little to no actions to go along with them? These kinds of people don’t have as sound of an understanding of what it truly is they believe as much as someone who goes out and acts on their thoughts own notions.

Audio Clips:

(12:20-12:30) “I think it’s really important as you look at 2018 here that you look at how you can become a business owner instead of a business operator.”

(17:54-18:05) “A lot of times we get focused and we get so concerned about getting everything done at the same time that you don’t get ‘Focused Energy’. And without that ‘Focused Energy’ you can’t create the very best.”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward everybody welcome back to funnel hacker radio I’m your host Dave Woodward and this is kind of a weird episode actually I was driving other day with my son Parker and we were talking about some of the travel and everything else has been going on he’s like man dad you gotta just share with people some of the stuff that you learn while I’m out on the road and literally like 10 15 minutes later I received a an email from Julie hood who was the podcast and was kind enough basically right in this you know tell me she appreciated the show and all that and one thing she was talking about was the same thing and that is gotcha Dave you go out you meet with so many different people and you’re traveling around want to share more of the things that you’re running into some of the people you’re here and all that kind of stuff I thought you know it would be wrong of me not to at least share with you guys some of the opportunities and the things that I learned by literally having the opportunities associated with for me well who are some of the literally the greatest markers in the entire universe so I thought you know what I was at a genius network in the beginning of November 2017 and I had the opportunity of taking a ton of notes to everything else and I thought you do it well let me just kind of flip through my journal here and let’s kind of look into my journal and see some of the things and some of the quotes and things that I wrote down and hopefully it’s gonna be of use to you as you take a look at 2018 all the crazy stuff that’s going on so first of all if you’re not familiar with genius network genius network is ran by Joe polish a dear friend of mine and the guy is just an amazing marketer he’s been around for a long time started off in the carpet cleaning business huge huge history definitely take a look at it but what he’s done right now has created this group where basically it cost you twenty five thousand dollars a year to belong to it I think it’s ten or fifteen thousand dollars to go to the two-day annually mint where they have two hundred three hundred marketing Minds from all sorts of different industries it’s one of the reasons I really kind of like it the party enjoyed the most this year actually had another good buddy of mine JP Sears was there actually became the emcee and so the banter between the two of them was hilarious it brought a ton of energy excitement to the audience was this year unlike some of the other years to me at least the value that was created inside of that room was really really amazing and I thought I need to at least share with you guys some of the things so you kind of sit there on my desk basically with me and kind of dive into here some of the things that were said as I share with you some things that I took notes on so with all that said let me just dive right into this first of all when Joe starts off genius network on his annual event one of the things he loves is goes through a ton of just one-liners and quotes and all that kind of stuff I wrote down a few my thought was kind of cool and fun so I’ll share those with you first one of the things I wrote was life is easy when you when you live it the hard way and it’s hard when you try to live it the easy way it’s a teach credos quote so again life is easy when you live it the hard way and hard when you live it the easy way and I was talking to buddy of mine about that just the other day where so often people are always trying to look for the easy way out and every time you try to look for the easy way out it life just gets hard if you’ll just put in the work and do what it takes you’re gonna find that actually life gets easier but you have to pay the price second thing is you can’t read the label of the jar that you’re in and I thought it was kind of funny that actually is a cool little picture I wish I could share with you guys but so often we don’t understand the problems that we’re really dealing with because you don’t know the jar that you’re actually in and I think it’s important you take a look at this year and you reflect back on last year what were some of the problems and things you ran across what was the label that you were really dealing with and how are you gonna fix that so you don’t have to repeat that she can get out of that jar and into a new one the last one here he’s talked about is focus is something that you do not something that you have and the reason I really like this is we spot it spent a lot of time talking about the importance of focus and you have to understand that a lot of people will focus on how to do something themselves to me that’s like linear progression it’s like step after step after step after step the other focus that’s more of an exponential type of focus especially as an entrepreneur that you really need to pay attention to is the focus on how can you do something or how basically focus on who can do something for you and this is one of the things I’ve seen recently here at click balls russell’s just been an amazing app and that is trying to find ways of getting other people to do more of the stuff that he doesn’t have to do it’s not his unique skillset it’s not his superpower so often as entrepreneurs we get started business and life and everything else we get so focused on thinking I’m the only person who can do it I’m the only person who can do it as good as I know it needs to be done realize that it typically doesn’t need to be done as good as you think it does and second of all there might be someone who’s actually even better at it than you and it’s not something that you enjoy so this year as you take a look at it don’t focus on on linear type of focus as far as how to do something yourself focus on who could you actually who can you find to do something for you and for me it’s been a huge huge relief I I get real busy during the day and one of the things I hate to have to do is worry about eating it drives my wife crazy because I just don’t care but for me one of the best things is I actually have my son Parker helped me find a cook for a Russell night and it’s the great thing with a little bring food in it’s already here I bring it in every single day and I’ve got it basically for my meals are done I don’t have to think about I have to worry about that so I can focus on other types of things so you take a look at your life look at the things that you can basically get exponential returns on you’re really trying to find a way of maximizing your time let me just dive in some of these other notes here um Jason Flavian a dear friend of mine did a we’ve done webinars with him in the past he’s come out with his change webinars one things he talked about was the importance of testimonials now obviously anybody who’s done any marketing understands how important testimonials are he took it another step further and he said the hard part for a lot of entrepreneurs is and people especially on webinars is they save their testimonials to the end well Jason actually started off with was his testimonials in the beginning and found testimonials that he actually used to overcome objections and what he’s really said is what he tries to find is his very best testimonials and tries to find a way of using those testimonials at least three times throughout a webinar and it’s not the exact same testimonial typically it’s that person but it’s three different parts of it so it may be the person who and they tell you almost this of all this the first part of the testimonials where they were and then how they got through it and then how there’s life is now and so you’re actually using that person so you’re weaving them into the story of your webinar it’s done a great job with that the other thing was the importance of content and one things you talked about was you need to present things especially in a webinar setting to people more on a road map so you say you know what you don’t want to have less than three steps and you don’t want to have more than five but by telling people okay this is the third step four the fourth step or the fifth step they’re able to chronologically pay attention to it the other thing that it does is it it sets up open loops where they know they need to get five things so as you take a look at your content the whole idea there is to make sure that you’re doing it in a way that that really ties them in engaged they’re obviously Russell’s done an amazing job on his on his perfect webinar script you don’t have that by all means go to perfect webinar comm and get it but I just want to make sure that you understand the importance of using testimonials as well as a content the other thing he’s talked about was the importance of getting 150 yeses before you sell them anything now if you followed experts secrets book you see in there all the different opportunities as far as closes that you’re setting people up to get those yeses but one of the things that Jason said I really liked and that is make sure that you get a transcription of the webinar and see how many times yes is you actually get before you have to get to that close so look to try to get 150 yeses in I thought it was a really cool idea been hard he’s a great guy if you haven’t followed Betty’s he’s actually clickfunnels user he’s been crushing it on medium all I’m gonna tell you right now it’s a topic I’m probably trying to get him on on a future podcast for but again just a guy who’s killing it out there one of the things Randi Zuckerberg was there she’s Mark Zuckerberg sister and she actually was the creator of Facebook live she’s now since left Facebook and is doing her own thing but it was fascinating hearing from her some of the different things that she went through and I thought what was really kind of cool about the whole idea was you know people were asked her a bunch of different questions and one of the questions they they asked her about was work-life balance and her whole thing is that there’s no way in the world to truly have a balanced work-life it just doesn’t happen and if you think it’s going to you you set yourself up for failure and frustration everything else so her secret or her tip basically was that there’s five things that she has basically these two balance she has to balance her work her sleep her family her friends and her fitness said for me I look at it and say you know what I can only pick three of those and I’m only gonna focus on getting three of those a day and that’s it and by doing that that was her way of creating balance so maybe maybe the this for today she was gonna the three she was gonna focus on would be work family and fitness well that means she’s probably not gonna get as much sleep as she wanted she if I’m not gonna have any contact with her friends but that allowed her that opportunity of getting accomplish what she needed to and then the other thing she said is to make sure that you you identify is the juice worth the squeeze in other words if what you’re going after is it really worth it and yeah that’s something that’s internal you have to decide for yourself but it was one of the things she tried to use as a guiding post for hers is the juice worth the squeeze a couple of the other things she made mention of was some business advice and then personal advice the business advice you know someone basically so ready what’s the what business buys would you give to us as entrepreneurs and she said you’re never as good as they say you are and you’re never as bad as they say you are and it kind of got a laugh out of the audience but it is really true some people who love you they’re giving you all the praise in the world and all of a sudden you think you’re this amazing super person you’re probably not as great as as they may think you are at the same time I know in my own personal life and work life I’ve been amazed at times how mean some people can be and just realize that that you’re never as bad as they as they say you are the advice that she had personally and this was kind of a getting kind of funny advice people are saying well what’s the personal advice you’d give just as entrepreneur she goes well if you’re not throwing up at least once a month due to the stress you’re not doing enough that’s not I I usually don’t try to throw up once a month but I I got the idea behind it and that is you’ve got to often people don’t want to put themselves out and get into stressful situations you gotta you gotta get there you gotta live on that you got to be able to to realize that there’s so much you have to give and and get uncomfortable and get used to being uncomfortable Tony Robbins was there always love having Tony’s always drop in value mom’s left and right a couple things he made mention of and that was start doing a weekly company video and then share testimonials of clients one things he talked about was to go from a hundred million to a billion dollars his secret there was you had to become obsessive about the ideal customer that you want you have to know in detail exactly who that person is what do they like what do they where do they live I mean just he went through a whole list of different ideas the other thing made mention up was the fact as far as don’t fall in love with your product or your service people are not loyal to products or services and realized the product lifecycle that he’s seen these days is about four to six months the other thing he said was you need to draw a line a line in the sand and become an owner not an operator and this is one of the things we’ve really looked at I’ve looked at my own business life many times and that is there is such a huge difference between being a business owner and a business operator if you’re not familiar with what I’m referring to I’m not going to take time right now you need to research that you really need to understand there’s a massive massive difference mentally as well as the activities that you actually take on when you go from operator to owner and I think it’s really important as you take a look at 2018 here try to find out what are the things that you can do to become more of the business owner instead of the business operator the last thing Tony said which I I just love it it’s just pure toning that is said you know what a belief is a poor substitute for an experience and the man that is such great advice so often people have all these crazy beliefs and things but they never actually had the experience and he talked about his travels and being around the world in different countries and everything else and he says you know people believe all these different things about different people who live in different parts of the world he goes you don’t know what it’s like until you actually experience it until you’ve actually gone out till you’ve actually travel to that place so you’ve walked in their shoes so just realize that whatever beliefs you have a belief is a poor substitute for experience so this year in 2018 try to find some ways that you can actually get more experiences in your life I’m a huge huge believe my kids always joke around about with me because gives me nothing to me experiences me in the world and other words I all spent a ton of money on experiences that I wouldn’t spend on a gift and for me I I just realize know what I learned so much more from an experience it’s something that I treasure and I look forward to it’s one of the reasons I I get so excited every single day so I’m trying to find out what new experience can I have today versus tangible things gifts they come and go the cars come and go that all that time to get on that soap opera clock to learn anyways just realize uh police a poor substitute for experience and this year trying to find a way of getting more experiences Naveen Jane was there his whole thing was on moonshots again InfoSpace moon express by ohm billionaire running three different billion dollar companies crazy crazy guy most down-to-earth humble kind the world I didn’t know who I was talking to I felt almost embarrassed but he was just the coolest guy ever but one things he was talking about is you have to fall in love with your customer and not the product which was kind of funny because it was a couple hours after so after Tony spoken but it’s so true it again me they both made the same thing that’s fall in love with your customer not your product and if you do that you’ll find that you create the very best products you’ll create the best experiences for them you’ll be you’ll have their heart and everything in mind and you’ll do what’s right for them so again fall in love your customer not the product the other thing you said is focus on the big stuff said so are you guys how many guys are are half-full vs. half-empty type of people and you know people have all over you know different hands raising up most of everyone in the group was you know half-full egos you know what it doesn’t matter if you’re half-full or half-empty what matters is do you want to fill the glass I thought that was really cool as far as you got to focus on the big step is is it doesn’t matter what your thought process they are about the jar you’re into the glass order them mindset realize is it worth filling up and if it is man overfill it just go all in on it so I love that idea a couple other things let’s see here and was his email I’m not gonna give you the email sorry I’m Peter Diamandis and Dan Sullivan both got up and they were talking a lot of their stuff was really cool they’re talking about the importance of longevity and living longer and it was just fascinating to me to see when you start associate with people who mindsets far surpass where you currently are and the thing that’s so far out of the box it’s just blows my mind because I mean for them their whole thing is longevity how long do you how long how old do you want to be and I think Dan Sullivan was you know I don’t plan on dying in some 147 and if he I think Naveen Jane was somewhere that two hundreds and it was interesting he said you know both of them wanted to live through an entire century from as a book and basically so whatever wherever they were born on one end of the century they want to have that same experience on the other end of another century the other thing they talked about is when you start thinking that way that life isn’t a 80 year life cycle or a hundred years you start planning differently you look at your finances differently you look at people differently you look at your experiences differently and so it was just really a kind of cool concept the other thing they talked about was again gratitude creates abundance and if you haven’t already read Peter commonness the book abundance or bold highly recommended great books amazing amazing content um but the whole idea behind that was understanding how important just being appreciative is there’s emotional gratitude and then what you’ll find is as you express that type of gratitude you actually have you provide higher value economically to others as well it’s a weird thing and on but I’m just a huge believer in it you’ve got to be more appreciative and express that appreciation let people know about it too often people just don’t aren’t willing to share that kind of stuff when things dan sullivan talked about was free days and buying back time she says you know buying back time for him is the most important thing I think Dan’s in his late 70s and his whole focus right now is on on how do I buy back time in other words doing those things that gave him the greatest result and the importance then of having three days a lot of us here you know hustle hustle hustle hustle hustle it says for him the most important thing is blocking time out where he literally blocks out this is a free day where I’m not doing anything this is my time and he just totally protects it it’s a three day for him from work and everything else to do whatever in the world is that he wants instead of letting other people control your time he’s like you know what for me those are my free days no one could book any time during my freedom but me the other thing was the importance of buffer days and focused days for him he says you know there times where you have you have to have a focus day where literally no one’s allowed to interrupt you your door you don’t look at email you do anything you have got to get things done deadlines are approaching it’s time to focus it says a lot of times we get focused we get so concerned I’m trying to get everything done at the same time that you don’t get focused energy without that focus energy you can’t create the very best so for him eBay is there’s there days that are blocked out as a free day there’s other days that are blocked out as focus days where there’s no interruptions no meetings nothing else I’m doing nothing else but the project that I know I need to do but then he said the other part was the importance having a buffer day and he said a lot of times people will stack ten focus days back-to-back he goes that’s just not realistic you’ve got to be able to put a buffer day in there and that buffer day is a day where you basically say you know I I realize there’s gonna be a lot of stuff I got to get done and I can’t put everything off forever so my buffer day just gives me a cushion and what he said is it actually decreases his stress because he can push things off because he knows he’s got a buffer day coming and so I highly encourage you guys take a look at your calendars and say okay schedule right now what are gonna be my free days what are gonna be my focused days where are my buffer days gonna be and tribal to at least you know at this point at least go for a month look out a month and say okay what which ones are free days buffer days and focus days and schedule those um trying to keep this concise and short but the same time wanna get us all out to you let’s see your oh the other thing he talked about was be 100% in charge but with no control give control to others and thought wow that’s kind of crazy but what I’ve seen recently and recently literally being the last today’s Friday before Christmas started on Monday we brought James Friel in the office James is amazing at systems and operations and given to the podcast a lot long time to go with him if you wanted to go check that out but one thing his whole thing’s is creating systems and I know Russell’s gonna do a podcast on this later as far as the whole bat-signal type of stuff so I’m not gonna talk about that but I do want to express to you what has happened here living in the last two or three days is so what we’re seeing is Russell’s 100% in charge but he’s pushing control out to other people and by doing that it’s increased his creativity which seems next to impossible do but it has and it’s it’s allowed him to take off some of the gas in one area and apply it to his unique ability which is actually accelerating things even faster for us so I’d really encourage you to take a look at how can you be 100% in charge with no control and how can you give control to other people Dean Graciosa was there one of my favorite things he talked about was understand that irritated oysters make pearls and I’ll leave on this note here this whole idea behind it is you have to understand that you get so frustrated times you get gosh nothing’s working it’s not going the way I want it to go realize that those little irritations those little irritations inside of the oyster that’s what makes the pearl and for you guys I promise you those you guys are listen to this realize that the little irritations that you’re focusing on is that you’re that you’re wrapping your brain around and you’re trying to get control over that little that irritation literally becomes the Pearl that you’re gonna that’s gonna be a massive value to you so with all that said have an amazing 2018 I look forward to connecting with you guys hopefully the Funnel Hacker Radio Ep. 176 w/ Julie Stoian – Becoming The Best In The World

Funnel Hacker Radio Ep. 176 w/ Julie Stoian – Becoming The Best In The World

Why Dave Chose to Interview Julie Stoian:

Julie Stoian is the FIRST female Dream Car Winner Affiliate, she’s rocking her new minivan in style. Not only was she a Dream Car Affiliate though she is also a 2 Comma Club winner and even a member of Inner Circle. She has become the best at what she does and we’re excited for her to help you learn how you can do the same in your business.

Tips and Tricks for Your Business:

You can become the best in the world at what you do, if not the best than at least better than what you already were (1:50)

There’s importance with becoming obsessed with what you do (4:16)

The greatest in the world has mastered their craft to the extent where they are able to help others get to the same level they’re at (7:16)

When you teach others what you do, you can be learning more for yourself than you’re teaching your students (9:22)

The greatest success you can have is to mentor someone to the extent where they surpass you (10:06)

Quotable Moments:

“There’s only a limited ‘Best in the World’ slots. But I think a lot of people forget if you aim high, you’ll go a lot further than if you aim low.”

“I see this happen all the time with you, with Russell, and with all the people at ClickFunnels is this idea of obsession. People that become the best in the world become completely 1000% obsessed with what they are doing.”

“You see that happens when people become the best at what they do, they stop focusing on the money. They know that the money comes with the value and start to focus more on their legacy.”

Other Tidbits of the Podcast:

How much are you willing to do for your business or clients?

Julie’s dentist told her a few years back about the importance of flossing, she had been told this her whole life and had little faith she could change this habit of forgetting to floss. However, she decided to take action and finally devote the time to develop the habit. Years later her she’s still flossing and she’s learned to apply this principle in her own business.

Life has more meaning as money becomes less of a focus and your legacy takes its place.

Julie has set the goal this year of becoming one of the best funnel building teachers in the world. She loves what she does and now that her dream has finally become a valid source of income she can really start to devote all her time into it.

Audio Clips:

(2:22-2:34) “Think about 2018 and what I need to do to change in my business or in my life to become the best in the world. And it’s okay if I don’t become the best in the world because I’ll become so much better just by thinking that way.”

(7:16-7:26) “If you want to become the best in the world, one of the ways to see how good you are becoming is think ‘Can I replicate this in somebody else?’”

(9:36-9:48) “You become an expert as you teach it because you realize how many things you are missing. I learn so much more every day when I go and teach it.”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody welcome back to funnel hacker radio I am so so so excited this is gonna be airing probably about the first part of January 2017 1818 holy cow and the part you’re gonna love is I’m bringing on someone who’s gonna be on a regular contributor to our podcast I am so excited to introduce you – you guys already know her but this is my formal introduction to Julie stoian Julie welcome hey hey I’m so excited fun gosh I’m so excited so if you guys don’t know Julie I mean she’s got a ton of accolades all over the world but inside of our clickfunnels universe basically what happens is she is one of our first the very first female dream car winner affiliate we’re super excited about that she has a beautiful minivan we have a funnel hacker TV episode you can listener on that she’s an inner circle member she’s two comma Club member she has been just crushing it everywhere she goes she’s writing a ton of content for us coaching things so bottom line is you guys are in for just value bombs dropping left and right all over the place as we kind of go into these episodes so Julie I’m so excited to have you thank you so much oh gosh I’m so excited I can’t wait so what I want to dive into here didn’t begin in 2018 you’re kind of talking about different topics that we can explore and one of the things we were talking about how to become the very best at what you do now this is a very easy thing for you only because I’ve seen seen your backstory and know kind of what’s happened a lot of people don’t but just see you truly have become the very best at what you do so you of all people are the best people to talk about that so with that let’s dive in well thank you I feel like sometimes when you talk about how to become the best in the world people are like ah well I just never mind that like I’ll never be the best in the world right there’s a very limited number of best in the world slots but I think the part that people forget is that when you aim high you go further than if you aim low right so it’s like you make these crazy go and it’s okay you can’t quite meet them because you’ll definitely always go further than if you had made a goal that was just kind of mediocre so why not think about 2018 and think like alright what are the things that I have to change in my business or in my mindset or my life to become the best in the world and it’s okay if I don’t become the best in the world because I’ll just become so much better just by thinking that way I love you know any ideas so you know shoot for the moon and you land in the stars I’m okay yeah and you know in order to be okay with that you have to be okay with failure and being imperfect because people who are perfectionist so be a failure they don’t like doing this exercise because they don’t want to set a goal as they can meet it and part of this is just like seeing how how far you can push yourself you know even if you don’t make it so I just thought it would be super fun when I joined the inner circle I just realized I was all of a sudden surrounded by the best in the world and so I started asking them like why like how do you become the best in the world and so I’m really curious like to hear what our audience thinks like what is the characteristic of someone who’s the best in the world and like what do you think like what do you think it takes to become the best in the world now I’ll tell you what I think for me I think that again a lot of it comes down to just setting high goals that motivate you I think too often people set those goals that are you know I’m gonna make it anyways but I’ll set it just so I can check it off the list yeah so for me I think to become the best you really have to have a huge dream a huge vision this grandiose idea that it literally pulls you out of bed in the morning and without that you’re never gonna get to the level of success that you really want and or that you deep down inside hope that might you might be able to do and I think too often people they just again kind of goes back to the whole ideas you know either Tony Robbins Bill Gates said years ago and that is you know people basically think they’re gonna get much more done in a year than they ever possibly can but underestimate how much they can get done in you know five or ten years I’m sure totally slaughtered the the quote but that’s the idea that yeah you really can do you know it’s funny and I see this happening all the time with you with Russell with all the people in clickfunnels is his idea of obsession that the people who become the best in the world become absolutely completely 1,000 obsessed with whatever it is they’re doing there’s like you know it’s pretty trendy to be balanced right now and I’m not saying that you know self-care is not important but like the people who are the best in the world don’t usually show it kind of balance they show just like they’re just like their whole world is consumed by it and I’m not saying you know you shouldn’t have balance but but there is a level of like how deep are you gonna go on your topic like how committed are you to really understanding your customer and understanding you know what your the people that you serve to really be able to serve them at the highest level you know what I mean like Russell is a parent example he’s obsessed with marketing absolutely you know I think I’ve seen that same thing with you though one of the things I’ve seen you become very obsessive with is you are obsessive with time I yeah I know one I’ve never known anybody who gets more done when you’re given a deadline than you it’s like I remember when you were putting together the marketing secrets book that you again this is a we’re letting the secret out of the back you’re Russell sorry about that but coming Julie’s been involved in it I’ll leave it at that but again we’re thinking oh yeah we’ll get that done by the end of the year time thing and you had it done within like two weeks of like what you kidding me how can they out yeah I mean it’s like it’s a level of like ruthless discipline that you it but it only comes with practice like it’s like it’s about repetition too and sometimes I think you know we we think oh we learned something or we learned how to do time management or we learned funnels or whatever and so then we don’t have to repeat it and it’s like don’t like the best athletes in the world do the same thing for like six hours a day every single day you know they’re like never they just never stop repeating and like that very act of repetition so for me it’s like if I want to make a new habit in my life like flossing my teeth I remember I went to the dentist one year they’re like you need to floss your teeth and I was like I can’t you know and I knew that if I was like ruthlessly disciplined for like 60 to 90 days that it would become a habit but then you keep having to like revisit that habit and it’s the same way with time with marketing with with it whatever whatever you do like you can’t stop practicing you know naveen oh I told I think is I’m here talking about this two things you’ve mentioned I’m huge fan of and one is obsession you have to become obsessed about it to where you literally just feel like I have to do this there’s nothing else I no matter what it happens my life this has to get done and the other thing there is the importance of repetition too often people think I’ve done that check it off the list it’s done but actually those skills you got to go over and over and over it over again it’s crazy I appreciate you mentioning that and I think one of the things if you want to become the best in the world at what you do one of the ways to see how good you’re becoming is to see can you replicate it in somebody else and I see this idea it’s like okay you become really good Russell becomes really good at funnels and he could do it really well but now can he can he help somebody else do it can he help someone else replicate the process because what happens is when you get into that mode of teaching it and really like working with somebody else you start to see all the little things that your brain is just doing naturally and you start to really like see the process at a more like organic level like micro level and it helps you to understand it better and he said the same thing when he was writing them well podcast it was some podcast cuz I’ve listened to them all during the experts secrets book that he had to by writing the book it really forced him to like get down to the nitty gritty of what he does and then once you see those like little tiny micro steps that you do for a big step then you can perfect them and then you just get like and then you just get exponentially better I love that I think that’s what’s why so many people go into coaching as well as teaching is because that as you mentioned that’s really where you become the best yeah you should always fresh-made frustrate me when I hear people say well those who can do and those who can’t teach and I thought you know what sure maybe whatever in some places but I can tell you for the people I’ve been surrounded with the very very best are those who can simplify something in such an easy teachable manner that anybody can do it you’ve done an amazing job of that with you with your audience and just the way that you’ve been able to systemize and duplicate yourself in so many different areas to where you can actually almost leave one business and go to another because you’ve got things so automated because you’ve literally taught everyone every single step to where and a lot of people afraid that well if I do that I’m gonna have I’m gonna jeopardize my job I know there’s no other place for me I mean that scarcity mindset as far as yeah really getting good at that it’s just I think what holds a lot of people back and you know I think there’s also this like this kind of negative vibe of like well you can’t be a teacher until you’re like a true expert because there’s a lot of people that try to like fake it but I think one of the things you know we and all of us do it to some extent but but the idea is like you become an expert as you teach it because you realize how many things you’re missing like there’s I learned so much more about the processes that I do every day when I go to teach it because then I see where the gaps are where I didn’t you know what I mean and I start to understand it at a different level so it’s not about lying and like being like oh I’m an expert when I’m not but but this act of teaching and mentorship is something that that doesn’t just sharpen the person you’re helping it sharpens you to that very act of teaching so it’s about just being honest where you are but not being afraid to dive into that and I think that’s part of experts secrets is like he’s like you have to be one step ahead of somebody else he’s not saying to lie about it he’s just saying to position yourself like you’re ready to teach if you can teach somebody something that you know that they don’t know and it will help you to you know I love that so the first three things you talked about as far as we gotta become the best first thing basically was total obsession second thing there is repetition and the third thing is becoming a teacher I really like to actually the other term you just use and that’s more than mentor and I think as you become a mentor it’s you have there unlike teaching where you’re just trying to distribute information or dispersed information as a mentor you’re actually concerned about the person you’re trying to bring up to them absolutely and so I I love the idea as far as that that analogy of being a mentor to whoever you’re bringing on whether it’s people you’re you are teaching but you’re really truly mentoring them to become the very best that they can be which in turn makes you the best that you can be and you know ultimately like the greatest success of a leader is to be able to create people who can then take what they’ve taught them and even go further like I know that Russell has turned his gaze away from like just how much money I can make to like what kind of legacy I can leave and you see that happen to people who become the best at what they do is they they they stop concerning themselves with money because they know that the money comes with the value and they start to look at what kind of legacy so like it becomes almost a joy if Russell can watch people become more successful than even he is because that’s evidence that he’s really like done his mission really well and and when you start to make that shift life gets so much more fun so much more exciting so much more meaningful and the scarcity mindset disappears and then people flock to you because you’re really invested in their success and that’s the whole that little purpose right oh I totally in fact I was joking around alex mandossian while back who was one of Russell’s second or third mentor basically when he was especially learning Telus Emmet’s all that kind of stuff and Alex came out and he was actually out here boys a while back and say it is so weird for me to think that one of my students has so far surpassed me well I am now becoming a student of him and I thought that it was just such it was a tribute to Alex for me to recognize that and not being oh my gosh I can’t learn from him there’s no credit to Russell saying how important it is going back to that obsession and just repeating things over and over again so I love that idea yeah it’s just about standing on on the shoulders of the people who’ve helped you and that’s like that’s a great legacy and I think that’s the lap that would be the fourth thing I would say besides obsession and mentorship and repetition is becoming the best in the world means it’s not just about you you’re thinking about your legacy and about the impact that happens after you’re done with what you’re doing I love it so we’re getting close to wrapping things up here tell me what are some of the things you’re hoping to accomplish in 2018 to become the very best that you could be at oh my gosh I mean I put you on the spot I know you totally put me on the spot I mean part of the reason why I’m now a clickfunnels is because I want to be with the best in the world period do you know what I mean and I think I love one of the things that I’m enjoying so much as I love teaching and writing these are things these are gifts and you know in the past couple years building my business I’ve had to do all kinds of other things that aren’t writing and teaching you know to keep my business afloat and now I get to really dive deep into into that art form that I just loved and so I’m really looking forward to becoming one of the best funnel building teachers in the world period that’s my goal and to be an amazing writer and just turn out massively awesome content that Russell just spews inbox or messages like tell the world you know so that’s really my big my big plan for 2018 and we all drop the mic on that one Julie congratulations I’m super excited to be a part of that working with you is so much fun for those you guys again as you’re looking at 2018 one of the things you’ve heard Julie mention is Russell’s books and things I highly recommend you guys go out start with expert secrets go to experts secrets calm it’s a free plus shipping offer if nothing else final Hackett we’re just actually today going through changing it so it’s gonna be new here by the time you listen to this but more importantly make sure you consume the content and really become obsessive about becoming that expert repeat whatever it is you’ve got to do to continue to become obsessive repetition over over over over again become that mentor and then most importantly build the legacy once again Julie thank you so much so Funnel Hacker Radio Ep. 175 w/ Ezra Firestone – Secrets to Scaling 8 Million Dollar E-Comm Business

On this episode of Funnel Hacker Radio, Dave interviews Ezra Firestone. Ezra Firestone reveals his secrets to scaling e-commerce businesses. He has been doing this for
over 12 years. He reveals what multiple you need to be at to be profitable. How to pick an industry and dive deep into a profitable niche. Most importantly he tells you step by step what you need to do to scale your business from startup to 6, 7 and even 8 figures.

He consults on multi-million- dollar e-comm acquisitions and reveals his digital marketing and e-commerce secrets in this episode.

Tips and Tricks for Your Business:

Ezra Firestone is a firm believer in focusing on your product’s multiple as opposed to its initial price point. (2:47)

We’re going to take a brief break from the value bombs of selling multiples to let you in on how Ezra got his business up to 8 figures (5:41)

Premium products is someplace that Ezra feels the most comfortable spending his time and resources (16:27)

Ezra knows that his business model is not the best one in the world, but it works for him the way that he wants it (21:15)

Sales Process, you’ve got to understand sales process if you’d like to improve the use of your ad spending (26:53)

Ezra’s last tip he wants to share with us is the importance of video marketing (28:15)

Quotable Moments:
“I lean now towards mass market. I want to be able to say this product is relative to anyone of
this gender in this age range. That’s my ideal, right, and then you niche down from there.”
“What I’m trying to do is plant seeds, water those seeds every month for four months, and
grow a mango tree that feeds my family for generations. I don’t want to just go out and spear a
bunch of fish one day.”
“More things have failed than worked”
Other Tidbits of the Podcast:
Ezra’s business may have a yearly revenue in the millions, but his heater breaks for unknown
reasons at the most inconvenient times just like the rest of us.
Ezra learned that losing money on the short run for marketing is what catapults your business
forward in the long run.

If you can sell 30 $5 ticket items that’s great, BUT Ezra wants you to think of how you’re going to pay for more ads to get other people to buy it. Will those same people come back to buy again? Not likely.
With transparency, your company can get the jump on this competition.
Ezra comes forth with his and Russel’s secret Ju-Jitsu vs. Wrestler square off they had in the
kitchen at Pirates Cove. We are potentially going to be presented with a round 2 on Funnel Hacker TV down the road. Prepare yourselves for a showdown that’ll rock the internet harder
than the release of “What Does the Fox Say” on YouTube.
Audio Clips:
(9:05-9:17) “I was like ‘Wow these companies look at marketing completely different than I look
at marketing’, and maybe that’s the reason that they are growing and I’m not. And this one difference in how I looked at my business allowed me to go to $7 million in $20 million in one
year”
(20:52-21:07) “I lean toward mass market, and I don’t think that’s for everyone. I think you can
totally lean in towards impulse buy, you can lean in towards niche specific. But Dave, I’m trying
to build multi-million dollar companies”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward I’m your host Dave Woodward today you guys are in for a massive massive treat I have some dude who’s up in the middle of New York basically freezing his butt off has no idea why his heaters not working couldn’t get his computer started this morning to get Skype up and running but this guy is crushing it he is the master the genius that one-and-only ezra firestone welcome but ladies and gentlemen Wow a heck of an introduction all true all true tech failures I’m frozen over here I’m wearing a I’m wearing what’s known as a poncho as you can see it this is probably a video but that’s a legit poncho which is actually basically like you shear a sheep and then you just put it on your back it’s basically what right so I’m like wearing a sheep I’m cold I got my wife’s hat on it’s a rough morning Dave Woodward but I’m here because you know I have a lot of respect and admiration for what you guys are doing and you know obviously we’ve had a chance to hang out at Pirates Cove and some other times you know I just really like you guys what you’re up to and decided to be on your show everyone I can’t imagine you don’t know who is but my gosh this he is dear friend of mine personally an obviously of our clickfunnels she’s crushing it on Shopify and he’s got his own products far as if I over there smart marker calm is his primary site definitely definitely follow him there he’s got an old pot cut mean if you want to know anything about e-commerce answer is the man the myth the legend I’m so privileged to have your show I’ve been trying to get you on forever we ran into each other Brian Moran said it last week it was like dude let’s just get our phones this counter this thing I mean it took us meeting in person and literally pulling out our calendars and saying like let the to because we were trying to schedule it with the teams it was like no let’s just do this together as men all right we’re gonna come together as men and we’re gonna schedule an appointment and it was a big deal for us actually it was like the first appointment that I’ve scheduled in a while for myself and I was I was proud of it actually well offline we were starting to talk about it so I wanted to stop her conversation cuz I mean any time you’re with her he’s dropping value bombs all day long and we started I’m like well I want to capture all this so uh real quick just understand I mean as we did about 30 million last year but one of the great things he’s doing is the whole idea as far as e-commerce and this is things we get talked about all the time I really want to dive into this with you guys right now what’s the right price point of products to sell how do you know when you’re in the right market and you start totaling like crazy so I’m just gonna just dive in where we work you ever talk as far as premium products and niches and genders and all that stuff for sure my viewpoint is that it’s less about price point and more about multiple and when I see people who try to run businesses like we run Dave which is what we’re up to we’re not these big guys with 300 million in VC funding you know we’re not these people we’re scrappy do-it-yourself entrepreneurs who are out there in the trenches running our businesses and attempting to be profitable and we are using in my in my on my side and on your side paid amplification paid amplification as as the means to fuel the business as sort of the energy that drives everything and so if you subscribe to this notion that like your business is going to be really built on the backbone of paid visibility meaning you’re going out to Facebook and you’re going out to YouTube and you’re going out to the Google Display Network um you’re going out to Pinterest and Instagram and you’re saying I want to pay to get my messaging in front of this group of people that I think I can sell a product to right so like that is like baseline what I do in business at the most fundamental level so if you’re approaching business that way which and then obviously look there story-based content there’s all this other stuff but like and we’ll get to that but it really starts with the willingness to go out there and buy visibility for your offer so if you’re doing that where most people fail is they mess up the multiple so my viewpoint is that the absolute absolute minimum and it gets you get more space as you get more towards a premium product level as I’ll explain but the absolute minimum multiple you can have is by for one and sell for three and ideally you’re buying for one and selling for four or five so here’s what that means if I buy a makeup stick for six dollars the minimum I can sell it for is 18 if I want to be profitable and ideally I’m selling it for 24 or 30 right ideally I have a buy for one ie buy for six and sell for four which is buy for six sell for 24 right now that sort of brings me to my my conversation of premium right because you look at me and I’m selling $28 cosmetic sticks okay that’s my base line front end product but my average order value is not $27 it’s 80 so how am i doing that right I’m bundling them together and pushing people towards a bundle and if you look at the bundle now look at this multiple you buy three of them 476 those three cost me let’s say 30 so I’m now under a three multiple but because I’m at a higher price point the multiple can be lower because on that seventy six I still have forty six dollars in profit which means I can go out there and spend forty six dollars to acquire a sale and the cool thing about this and we’re gonna go we’re gonna dive further into these numbers so people understand is if you’re able to do that after six months you have what’s called a repeat business so now you can go out and spend $65 even though you’re only making $45 because you have a bunch of repeat business fuelling your your your ads if that makes sense so real quick tangent to how I got to eight figures and then we’ll go back to this numbers game and what I was talking to you about gender and market and niche and things like that quick tangent that sort of expounds on this idea of repeat business being a very important thing when it comes to direct response ecommerce and how that allows you to actually go out and potentially buy sales at a loss but still be profitable and grow your business and people are thinking oh well Ezra I don’t wanna I don’t want to go out there and buy sales at self-liquidating or breakeven or even at a loss but let me let me explain to you what happened to me which is my direct response ecommerce business which is a direct-to-consumer physical product cosmetic business that I am using paid amplification as the sole means to promote I’m not on Amazon I’m not in retail stores I don’t have joint venture partners I’m not using influencers I’m straight-up using Facebook and Google and I’m doing 20 million in that one brand and I’m doing 30 million overall across other businesses as well so what I was stuck at around 7 million dollars a year and look we all say what you want about lifestyle / / business and whether you’re working too much whatever you want to say about that and I have very strong viewpoints on that is at the end of the day you’re in this game to grow your business you want to grow your business right or you wouldn’t be listening to funnel hacker radio so I was stuck at this plateau of 7 million a year for a couple years and I could not figure out why I couldn’t get past it and one of the things that I’m known for I’m like I got this name called the growth guy in these private equity and venture capital firms because right now people with billions of dollars they’re investing that money into online commerce businesses businesses that are built on clickfunnels businesses that are built on Amazon businesses that are built on Shopify that’s where big money is going because these people with real money see that this is the future right so they’re looking to buy companies and these funds these venture capital private equity funds who might have 700 million in a fund or a billion in a fund where they’re doing investment they’re purchasing companies with the hopes of growing them and flipping them or purchasing companies with the hopes of rolling them all up and reselling them right so when they’re vetting deals they will come to me and say here’s a 50 million or 100 million or 300 million or even billion I’ve done a billion dollar one company that is predominantly direct-to-consumer online based will you vet the analytics vet the ad campaigns look at the lifecycle customer marketing and tell us number one would you buy this thing and number two how would you grow it so I’m essentially doing these growth plans for these multi hundred million dollar companies and what’s fascinating about that Dave is as a person who’s owned like I at this time when when this started a couple years ago I was only ever a multi-million dollar ecommerce business owner but I’m real scrappy and I’m real good at data analysis and you know I came from nothing bootstrapped I was grew up poor you know what I mean I grew up like whatnot I came from you know just like anyone else like like I didn’t even realize another conversation of going from being like identifying as poor to now being one of the richer people that I know and that’s been an interesting transition of you know you think rich people are bad but you don’t even know you do think that it’s a prejudice that you have that you don’t know you have until you become rich whole thing we could talk about that but back to this this conversation is I’d never grown a multi-hundred even an eight-figure retail now I have an eight-figure retailer but hadn’t before and looking at their data I noticed something across all of them I didn’t maybe 13 of these audio audits over two years and I’m still doing them now which is kind of it’s fun but I noticed I was like wow like these companies look at marketing completely different than the way I look at marketing and maybe that’s why I can’t grow and they are growing and so here’s was the difference of how they looked at it and this one difference in how I looked at my business is what allowed me to go from 7 million to 20 million in one year boom as soon as I changed my viewpoint on this it was literally one fundamental shift in how I was looking at the numbers that allowed me to triple the business in a year and now continue to grow so here’s what it was the way that I looked at businesses was I was a I got no cash I’m living off my wife’s yoga earnings Disney I’m no joke this needs to work I need I need to be profitable like I can’t mess around she’s gonna be upset if I go bankrupt on us you know I gotta go get another job like you know I’m 22 this ain’t working you know I’m not 22 now but so the way I looked at it was if an ad campaign is running and it’s not profitable you turn that thing off immediately right you look at Google AdWords and you got six keywords in there this is old school and two of those keywords don’t work turn them off you’re running Facebook it’s not profitable turn it off now here’s what I noticed about all these retailers is they all had one channel that I call the subsidy channel that was subsidizing the rest of their marketing so it was either email or organic traffic or Google Adwords those were the top three it was either email organic traffic or Google Adwords and then Facebook would be at the fourth one or maybe Amazon it was one of those channels it was one of those five channels where that one channel of visibility was uber profitable just crushing right and as you go in business year-over-year and this is the what I call the halo effect people don’t understand this this is why smart marketers growing Zipporah is growing boom is grunts I have this halo effect of I’ve been in business three years I have all these past customers who are repeating who are coming back organically who are coming back through emails that gives me a baseline of profit that I can spend on amplification to grow my business if that makes sense so what they were doing was they take their email revenue and then they go out to Facebook they go out to Pinterest they go out to Instagram they go out to YouTube and they lose major money buying customers right they lose money on all these other channels but all these channels are being subsidized by one profitable channel they’re out there losing money but they’re acquiring customers and then come the holiday time or come their next sale they have a much bigger pool of people to run that sale event to and they end up making way more money during that sale event because they have such a bigger pool because they were out there growing that pool over time even at a loss and man up with a much bigger company so they take a longer trajectory they’re like listen we’ve got one channel that makes a hundred grand a month in profit let’s spend ninety five thousand dollars that hundred grand a month in acquiring customers at whatever cost as smartly as we can as effectively as we can you know some of them will be breakeven some will be at a loss but let’s go out there and use that money that we have baseline to grow because just growing the operation over time grows the operation if that makes sense it’s not you with me I went from seven to eight figures is changing my viewpoint on that instead of turning off ad campaigns that didn’t perform I looked at my ones that my organic traffic my email traffic in the ad campaigns that were performing as a subsidy to support the growth on channels that weren’t performing which allowed me the freedom and flexibility to figure out how to get those channels to perform that’s the thing that you don’t understand is that most people understand is that like you need some level of resource to figure out how to get a channel to work and if you’re not investing in it you’re never gonna figure it out and so it all kind of works together and this is why businesses that I’ve been around three or four years have such a such a like sort of market preference like they have a what’s the word advantage over businesses that have been around because they have some form of Halo that they can invest in direct amplification and the big issue with business owners Dave that I see in our industry is they pull all their money out of their business they don’t reinvest in the snowball they’re afraid to lose money on paid amplification because they think they’re losing money they don’t understand that they’re actually investing in the growth of the snowball that 18 months from now is gonna be a giant snowball right so it’s it’s a fundamental shift in how you look at growing your company from a paid amplification perspective and if you have one channel and a lot of people in my industry have Amazon that’s real profitable for them and I advocate for using that profit to go out and buy sales via direct response even if you’re losing money because overall you’re going to grow the calm and it’s kind of just a different way of looking at it and ultimately now we’re way more profitable than we ever were and we’re way bigger but it’s because we changed our viewpoint on how we look at ads and numbers I think that’s the part you know most lumps when we first got started with leuh used to pay the bills and it was man I’ve got a lifestyle here I’m second all the cash out of it and you’re like I get it you’re sitting there freezing I think you know you got to build your business for winter and that is your a situation where things aren’t always gonna be as great as they are right now but if everything cycles and I think especially in the econ platform if you can be taken that and really investing and I think what I loved about what you’re saying their answer is learn use that to learn these other platforms because every single platform is so totally unique and different I think it’s just I love the term as far as paid amplification that’s super super like and you guys do that really well at clickfunnels I mean I see your videos all the time on every channel you know you’re on you’re on Instagram you’re on Instagram stories you’re on YouTube you’re on Facebook I mean you guys really get paid amplification of story-based content that engages the consumer over time that when you have a sales cycle like you got a new book coming out or you got a new whatever coming out like all these people that are in your community have been seeing you over the course of the last couple months because you’re adding value through content which is my second strategy which is once you have a community you take 10 percent or 20 percent of your total ad budget and you invest it in literally just amplifying value add content to that community and we started doing this we started seeing our sale campaigns that we run every month and a half go up by about 500 percent because all these people were now engaged with us on a weekly basis seeing content that was just value add content not designed to sell anything that when we did decide to sell something worked way better because they were engaged with us now back to the back to the how to pick a market and what kind of multiple you need so I think again I my preference is towards mass-market products meaning I want to be able to pick an age range I literally if you look at boom which is 20 million I’m like women over 50 in America that’s literally that is like by the way who I also advertise to I don’t put any targeting on there I’m literally running my ads I’m spending 20 grand a day on Facebook to an audience called women over 50 that’s it because Facebook is now pretty smart and you don’t need necessarily to put targeting’s in there if you have a mask the audience now that’s not relevant for most people so so you can ignore that piece of advice but I lean now towards mass market and I want to be able to say this product offer is literally relevant towards anyone who is this gender in this age range that’s my ideal right and then you niche down from there all right I want men who are 25 to 35 who are outdoorsmen right who are interested in hunting hiking fishing whatever okay great like you can niche down from there but I prefer as mass-market as possible at this stage of the game now granted I’ve been doing this for 12 years so that is like why I’m willing to go that wide because when you go that wide you really need a compelling offer a compelling product a compelling story you have to really understand marketing or you can’t go that wide right oh you can only go that wide if you really are confident in your ability to engage that audience in a story that relates to a problem they’re having in their life and then your product is a solution to that problem so I tend towards that and I also tend towards premium because you’ll notice my average order value is 80 I’ve got about a three multiple on that and I can do that at a premium level whereas if I’m selling a twenty five or thirty five dollar product I need a five or six multiple to make the ads work does that make sense so minimum multiple is three minimum you’ve got to be buying for one and selling for three buying for ten someone for thirty and a minimum if you want this to work and you’re gonna have a much better chance of making direct response ecommerce work if you can get your average order value up over $50 meaning I actually what I was telling you before look at premium as 85 and above I think that’s where you hit premium for me and my my eyes of it but people would argue with me on this so I always try to lean towards a premium level product which is 85 and above because at the end of the day if you’re going out there you’re paying for visibility you’re engaging someone with a video that starts telling them a story that then you know relates to a problem they’re having that alludes to a solution which is your product like you might as well try to sell them an expensive product rather than a cheap product but a lot of people are doing dropship a lot of people are doing 25 $35 widgets $15 credit card knives whatever if you’re doing those those lower ticket items which is great impulse buys are great you know impulse buys the other beautiful thing one thing we need to talk about with e-commerce is the more expensive the longer the sales cycle explain that so if you have a product that’s 30 bucks or 15 bucks for 20 bucks you can literally go video and I’ll give you a perfect example of this problem solution video meaning there’s a video of a guy sitting in his car a gal sitting in her car and she drops her phone between the seat and she can’t reach it and it’s stuck and then boom transition that’s the before after in the same video 30-second video on facebook person drops their phone but now there’s a leather sleeve in between the seat and they reach down and they pull it out it’s might even be one of your guys products now they’re that little little leather sleeve that problem/solution video that says this individual this problem that you have that you can identify with you can identify with this pain point we’re showing you and here’s a solution to it that links directly to a landing page long form click funnel style landing page with a video on it and whatnot product imagery some sales copy headlines sub headlines whatever you want with an upsell or order bump or cart bump whatever you guys do but that model that’s a short sales cycle right that’s like problem/solution video to sales page that works for impulse buy products that works for lower price products the more expensive your product the longer you have to hold someone in a sales cycle because the more trust it takes to get someone to buy something for ninety bucks which means longer video on facebook my top-line awareness videos are like seven minutes long they’re not a minute long right more steps like perhaps an article that you know pre sell engagement article or advertorial that then leads to the sales page more retargeting like retargeting people who watch the video and didn’t click to the article retargeting people who click to the article but not the product page retargeting people who made to the product page but not the cart so your sales cycle is much longer for a premium level product but I still advocate and lean in that direction because it’s a lot easier to make the numbers work when you have premium level and you got enough profit to really go out there and advertise so if you’re selling a thirty dollar average order value product boy I don’t want to be buying that product for more than five or six dollars in order I need I’m gonna need that twenty six to spend on ads it’s hard to get a credit card submit for under 20 bucks legit in this day and age you’re trying to get a credit card submit you’re trying to get someone to pull out their thing pull their credit card out and submit it and boy if you can do that for under twenty bucks these days you got a real hot product you solve on a real nice problem and it’s an impulse buy that’s that’s gonna make up who’s gonna do now if you’re not if you don’t have that if you don’t have the superhot product than the impulse buying a low price point it’s gonna cost you more now and now when I first got in the game I was getting credit card submits for six dollars right but that was a long time ago now so my point being I I lean towards a premium product I lean towards a minimum of the five multiple if I’m going into a market Dave and I’m saying I’m gonna run direct response front and e-commerce on this which I’m building a new business right now another cosmetics business geared towards a younger demographic rather than the older demographic I want my I want to find multiple I want to buy my stick for seven and sell it for 35 you know what I mean just to give me the space the freedom the flexibility the ease to figure it out and I’m gonna try to bundle those I’m gonna try to get people to buy three at a time and all that kind of thing so I’m gonna be working on my average order value upsell cross-sell order bumps all that to give me that that multiple so I lean towards premium I lean towards a buy for oneself for five I lean towards mass-market I don’t think that’s for everyone I think you could totally lean in towards impulse buy you could lean in towards niche specific but like Dave I’m trying to build multi hundred million dollar companies I’m trying to build multi hundred million dollar direct-to-consumer physical product companies that are grown on the backbone of paid amplification which look for me the reason I’m doing that is because it’s I’m not not gonna come out and say that this is a better business model than someone else’s idea of what a good business model is I’m not prepared to say that but what I am prepared to say is that for who I am in the world and what I enjoy doing and the lifestyle that I want I have 70 employees they’re all virtual my businesses are pretty straightforward it’s like advertising content and then customer support you know it’s like it’s a simple model it’s easy to systematize it’s scalable infinitely scalable if you hit the right sort of if you if you hit the right point of content to market match where it really resonates with someone’s pain point and the product offering is good you have a real product that adds value I mean I just find the model now granted I’m 100% biased because I’ve been in directive consumer physical products for my whole entire adult life since I was 18 and like this is all I know and what I’ve done but boy I haven’t found a model that I like better and I have to tell you as someone who just like you sells information I sell courses on how I do this and I have an event once a year on how to do this have a mastermind four very successful sellers and I have software-as-a-service businesses right so I have other businesses that aren’t as big they are harder to run more work and I still love them and I would never give them up and I’m really enjoying them but they’re not as easy to scale and systematize as direct-to-consumer physical products and they’re also not based on my personality like like sorry director consumer physical products isn’t based on Azra Firestone whereas that other businesses kind of are really relying on me as a public figure and I really like the idea of a brand that’s not built on the backbone of a public figure even though one of my main e-commerce brands has a public figure at the helm I’m not saying don’t have people who endorse your brand influencers and things like that but that’s why I lean those directions fantastic I think the coolest thing is you’re just such a total magician at this kind of stuff that you just talk only because it’s it’s really part of your DNA I mean you’ve been doing this for so long but I think the cool thing is you’ve paid the price and I think that’s part people don’t understand this you got to go out there you got to get your nose bloody you got to be able to to go out and to many company more failure is a short term thing and it’s a it’s a long term game I love the fact you’re building a hundred multiple hundred million dollar companies that’s I’ve done it yet but I’m working on it right one of my companies right now is probably valued at around 50 million one of my other companies probably valued around 10 so I haven’t really reached the nine figure mark yet but I do agree with you that I think that a lot of people are short-sighted and they don’t understand that this is a marathon and not a sprint and you and I haven’t been in the industry as long as we have I’ve seen a lot of people fall off a lot and by the way one of the things I really respect and love about you guys is that you have been around like Russell was doing micro continuity in oh seven or something you know any man like I remember potato guns I remember him from then you know like I was around back then and he and I have seen a lot of people fall off and what happens is people are burning the candle at both ends they’re not paying attention to cash flow they are short-sighted and are just trying to make cash or not trying to build something consistently and scalable over time and like what I’m trying to do is plant seeds water those seeds every month for four years grow a mango tree that then feeds my family for generations I don’t want to just go out and spear a bunch of fish one day right look I really want a sustainable consistent ongoing business and I do I do think that like you’re gonna have failures like I’ve had more things have failed than abort for sure 100% I’ve nearly bankrupted myself a couple times you’re gonna you know I’ve been short on taxes when I needed taxes at the end of the year because I mismanaged cash flow like I’ve had all those experiences and that’s par for the course as you learn how to deal with money as you learn how to manage big sums of money as you learn how to you know it’s like you’re gonna you’re gonna have these setbacks but you can get smarter you cannot find yourself without having paid your quarterly estimates in 2011 you should have you know like or whatever you know some while back now for me but like this is where people you know they run into issues they’re not looking at their numbers they’re not looking at the cash flow they are not paying their taxes on a regular basis they’re you know yeah I hear you there’s going to be some failures everything that you do because you’re such an advocate of just diving in and just immersing yourself in it you just use your phone yeah do it yourself get in there figure out the product you’re gonna retail figure out its unique selling propositions get into clickfunnels build out that page yourself have someone help you do a video for it have only someone help you do a video ad learn Facebook advertising from guys like you guys Russell you don’t click funnels me get in there and you know like it’s hard to delegate an outsource and scale something that you don’t intuitively really understand yourself like now I’m at a point where I can have a whole team running this process but like if I hadn’t done it all I wouldn’t be able to do that I wouldn’t really know what was working I wouldn’t know what to look at so I’m a big fan of the do-it-yourself entrepreneur I’m a big fan of like really getting like I think if there’s one place to get nitty-gritty its marketing process because marketing process you know someone else can get nitty-gritty on product someone else can get nitty-gritty on support someone else can get nitty-gritty on you know finance and bookkeeping but like boy if you pick one area to put your attention like I’m a big fan of it being marketing process because it’s like it’s it it is the thing that drives everything else I we joke around about that all the time you’re at the office it’s the one thing you you don’t want to outsource your lovemaking and I think that’s the key here is it’s what matters sorry for the visual there but a good way now I hear ya but drives your business it’s what grows you can outsource you can’t outsource marketing yeah that’s the one thing always tell people man get get good if you go to anything get good at that you can ask together know how to do it but you got no marketing yeah and I think one of the cool things about your community is that like what you guys really understand is sales process and like you get people who understand ads but don’t understand sales process and their hosts it’s better to understand sales process than ads because when you’re getting started you can outsource ads to an agency and see what they’re doing and learn it and you can go through some courses but like you can’t outsource sales process really I mean it’s hard to do that well to outsource sales process well and I think that’s one of the beautiful things that your tool offers clickfunnels is and granted I’ve never used click funnels or been in there really I don’t know much about it but like dude you guys are the most famous sales funnel builder in the world at least in my world I mean I’m paying attention to the internet marketing world and the e-commerce world you’re definitely the most famous and like the people that I talked to who are click funnels users understand concepts that like multi hundred million dollar ecommerce retails that I talk to don’t understand and I’m like whoa you know that’s that’s kind of mind-blowing really you know that like you get these multi hundred million dollar retailers who don’t understand things like order bumps upsells bundles cross-sells long-form sales pages conversion rate best practices sales video structure I mean the stuff like it actually is it’s I think it’s one of the reasons why you guys are successful as you are because it’s like boy that stuff is is more important than almost anything else well thank you thank you very much well as we get close to wrapping things up here any other things you want to cover before we wrap it up um I think if you’re looking at 2018 the place to put your attention is video marketing video will drive and people know this already but I’m just gonna reiterate it that video will drive 80 percent of consumer based content consumption in by 2019 which means people who are gonna purchase products are watching videos about those products and about what those products mean in the world and I also think that if you’re gonna be retailing to anyone who is Gen Y or down let’s say anyone who’s 40 or under one of the things that you need to know that that market cares about is manufacturing process so one of the things that the Millennials have really brought yeah Millennials have really brought this into the limelight it’s why companies like ever Lane evey er la and E and la ne calm which is by the way my favorite e-commerce company from a marketing perspective I just am in love with these people I’m gonna try to get them to come speak at my conference in August actually companies like buck Mason they are speaking at my conference in August in Denver but um I think that one of the places to pay attention to is video content that tells the story of who you are and why you are what why are you making this product what problem does it solve and then how you’re doing it so manufacturing process transparency is a huge trend and it also what’s fascinating about that Dave is manufacturing process transparency in and of itself is product differentiation meaning you could have literally the exact same products as any other bum in the market but if you are transparent about how you’re making it and why you’re making it the way you’re making it and who’s making it you don’t even need a USP on the product does that make sense that can be your USP yeah you seen this happen in the clothing industry you’re seeing it happen in the electronics industry you’re sure you have it in the makeup industry companies are coming in and being like look here’s how we’re making the stuff we’re making and why and they’re winning just on that so I focused on video marketing as a strategy to adopt for your for your you know your paint amplification and by the way just a little shameless plug here I do happen to have what I consider to be the best course in the entire world on direct response facebook video advertising but no problem you go to smartmarketer.com click on courses and there’s one called facebook video ads mastery and i have a free four part series if you go anywhere on smartmarketer.com you’ll notice i’m gonna be trying to market you a free four-part series on facebook video ads trying to get you to go through four videos kind of like launch model style for videos of content that like teach you about facebook video ads that won’t give you value even if you don’t buy my course they’re super good and then it’ll try to sell you my course which is a way to go really in depth on that subject but I think that’s tough where do you should focus your energy and and not selfishly but just because that’s where I’m focusing my energy and it’s really working for me I look at purple mattress you guys know purple was 0-2 100 million in two years no VC funding all video marketing all YouTube Facebook video marketing no retail they’re all direct response kind of beautiful they’re actually coming down one of my events too I love those guys then the other place I would focus is on product creation transparency so like who you are why you are what you’re doing how you’re doing it and creating content in that area because that area is extremely compelling at this particular time in history and it will be for the next ten years or so we got about five to ten year window where this is kind of the thing and then what’s gonna happen is Gen Z who are like these kids were like I’d say I don’t know actually what their age ranges are but I want to say between 15 and 20 right now or 13 and 20 whatever they find themselves interested in will sort of be directing what like sort of ripples through ripples through the markets but yeah that’s what I’d say just again I don’t know why you wouldn’t be please please check him out smartmarketer.com I will have links down below again you’re such a dear friend this is a man of massive integrity what-you-see-is-what-you-get he is the real deal I can never say enough nice things about azor in fact I think it’s the funnest thing about it is you will never find anybody anywhere who ever has anything negative to say about Ezra it’s just the greatest guy in the world well maybe Russell maybe Russell who got me Russell and I had a tussle in the kitchen at Pirates Cove yeah I think he armdrag to duck under and he got me and it was like you know we’ve been sort of like texting back and forth about one day we’re gonna battle we’re gonna wrestle you know he was like a really high level college wrestler and I was just like a bum high school wrestler but I’m pretty dang good at jujitsu which is like you know martial art where you where you’re allowed submissions and you’re you know you’re allowed to do strangleholds and armbars and things like that and and we had this tussle in the kitchen at Pirates Cove and lamb it was on a concrete floor so you could only go so far but he beat me to the first he beat me to the first like he would have gotten a takedown he got behind me and he would have been able to take me down and we would have had a scramble but yeah so we got some unfinished business there Russell and I look forward to coming out to Idaho coming out to Boise one of these times and getting a match in maybe we’ll film it and put it on clickfunnels love it yeah but that’d be really fun I’m actually injured my necks I’m out for a while but anyways I don’t think Russell has bad things to say about me I just think we have a little bit of unfinished competition thank you so much again it’s such a dear friend let’s have another show anything we can ever do for you obviously we’re here for you so thanks so much but thanks appreciate you having me on thanks for listening buddy thanks for listen to funnel hack a radio podcast if you’d like to be notified Funnel Hacker Radio 174 With Phil Singleton – SEO Benefits of Being a Podcast Guest

Funnel Hacker Radio 174 With Phil Singleton – SEO Benefits of Being a Podcast Guest

Why Dave Chose to Interview Phil Singleton:

Phil Singleton has owned and operated a digital marketing agency since 2005. Now he has more business than he knows what to do with. He reveals why in this episode. He is an award-winning author but nothing has given him as much credibility as being a Podcast Guest. He explains the SEO benefits of Podcast guesting, the things you need to do, the things you should not do and what you can do to get on more podcasts and get referred by the host to other podcasts.

Tips and Tricks for Your Business:

Phil tells us why podcasting is so beneficial for SEO (1:25)

Dave gets Phil to disclose his secret of content marketing to go from a blog post to a kindle to a podcast earlier than he had planned (9:11)

Being multidimensional is key in your business and is something we use here at Clickfunnels (14:47)

Phil writes up other people’s show notes if they aren’t already just because of the amazing value it adds for him (20:31)

Quotable Moments:

“I’ve been doing this for 12 years, I’ve never seen any content marketing or SEO tactic delivered this much value and benefit for this kind of effort that we’ve put into it.”

“We were already going down this path because our whole thing these days is building people’s authority and separate them and try and make their websites look good in the niche they’re in.”

Other Tidbits of the Podcast:

Phil is an advocate for being a guest on a podcast to grow your reach. He even said how he kicks himself in the butt for not making his own podcast earlier.

Dave HATES writing out blog posts it’s just not his strong suit nor his interest as opposed to public speaking. Due to Phil finding this so relatable he gave us a few places to go to look for outsourcing these more tedious tasks to people more experienced than us

This podcast will be a test-run to being posted onto more social media platforms than ever. Of course, Phil was flattered.

Audio Clips:

(10:25-10:35) “One of the things that is very important to really any digital marketer right now is to be consistently blogging. Right, so, when we blog we want to make sure we blog with a purpose”

(13:41-14:07) “But if you take something as simple as a blog post and try and tie it together in all of these things you can get like an X or a 1X out of it. That’s why I’m so excited this year…”

Their industry is plagued by red tape and regulations on what you can and cannot say. They have been able to create sales funnel and marketing system that pre-qualifies leads which cuts the typical 3 to 4 appointments down to 1. Empowering your clients so they can make money instead of making it for them

Ryan and Brad have turned the investment industry on a side that it has never before been

New Opportunity Vs. Improvement offer: Which is your business?

Dave went through the application for Ryan and Brad’s Investment Service

It’s possible to hate selling to people but love marketing, you just need to do what they did first

If you customize your product in a niche enough, you will become the name for that niche

You can help all of your clients more if you automate your systems like Ryan and Brad have done

Ryan and Brad knew that financial advisors weren’t creative enough to make websites, so they found out how to make templates and sell them to their friends and clients in the industry

Quotes:

“The more you know, the more empowered you are”

“It sounds cheesy and fluffy but it is the truth; because we’ve mixed it with our experience and our unique way of doing everything that we’ve really made this OUR practice and nobody else does it.”

“For us to be able to create a course, deliver a course, and give people websites that function and work that they could take our levels off and put their levels on was phenomenal.”

Audio Clips:
(2:35-2:47) “We met working our way out of traditional financial strategies of investing in the stock market, crossing your fingers it all works out. Along the path I realized that I love helping others achieve financial freedom.”

(14:50-15:10) “If I am a local advisor only working with people that come into my office I don’t have the luxury to choose. I have to try and be a chameleon and reflect back to you what you want right? Where here, I get to say ‘This is what I do, I don’t do all that other stuff. If you want that stuff go get it, BUT if you want this come to me’”

Lisa Wendler, How To Break Through All The Techno Babble… – Online Marketing Funnel Hacker Radio

Lisa Wendler, How To Break Through All The Techno Babble… – Online Marketing Funnel Hacker Radio

http://funnelhackerradio.com -Online Marketing Funnel Hacker Radio Podcast with Dave Woodward from ClickFunnels

Lisa Wendler has gone from training horses to living her dreams helping other women live theirs. She attended her first Funnel Hacking Live event in 2016. Overwhelmed with what appeared to be a lot of technobabble, she broke through and reveals how you can too.

Show Notes:

-This might be a different podcast for you

-Lisa Wendler’s husband spent $5k on Clickfunnels and inadvertently launched his wife into it

-Lisa, through clickfunnels, has retired to do the job she really feels right doing

-Lisa found her niche in a group of people she very easily relates to, depressed women

-When the market crashes and you lose acres of land, you make a wedding venue, right?

Quotes:

“Behind the scenes, and I think that’s what most important is, understanding your niche, speaking their language and knowing where to find them.”

“Overcome those limits of saying ‘You know what? I’ll just be me and I can find my voice’ If someone loves me then they love me. That’s their projection and that’s their journey.”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome everyone to funnel hacker radio I am your host Dave Woodward and you guys are in for an exciting podcast episode I have the opportunity Lisa Wynn there with me Lisa welcome to the show I thank you Lisa tell me a little bit about what you want to talk about so I’m a massage therapist by trade I have spent 16 years inside the horse racing industry taking care of horses and that is my passion to work with my hands I take care of humans but humans are a whole set of different issues you know as long as they didn’t kick me and I crawl out of the stall it was great so in 2015 I my husband took on this course of development with Garrett white which thankfully inside the URL it wasn’t changed and it showed click funnels and I was like whoa what is click funnels my husband just invested inside a black box and it was right after Thanksgiving and I thousand dollars I was like really what is this contractor thinking again this is not a tool and I checked into what its clickfunnels and there was this video of these two people talking and I was like what what the heck this this guy just had my husband paid 5 grand what is going on here so I looked up Russell and then there’s this funnel hacking wife for coming up in California in 2016 and I was like huh I gotta go to this and see what this is all about and so I went there and coming from massage world horse racing industry I can do Microsoft Word and Excel and send invoices that’s about it in this room all these humans that I was like oh my gosh my introvert heart is like this and I can’t yet intermingle and then this techno junk so I get there and then the pitch for certified partners came up on stage and I went oh my gosh I got to fill this out and then I saw the price and I went oh no I don’t have all that money Mike how so I’m calling my husband in between the break you’re gonna transfer money and he’s like I’m not close to the bank like we just dropped by grand and we just dropped money for you to get there and I’m like just do it I know I could do this just let me do it and it was that faith leap that I was like I have to do something um so I went to a certified partner program signed up got access in April a girlfriend of mine committed suicide from the racing industry in July and that was my piddle point in life that I went I have to make this work I had to be the student I had to force myself to be the student and understand hey you don’t know anything about all of this and you’re gonna have to sit back and you’re gonna have to study it and study it hard so yeah that’s my story [Music] so at Lisa your story is crazy cool and I want to make sure people understand so you what have you done through clickfunnels that’s allowed you to retire how does that been or at least stop doing the things you know so you do what you’re perfect personally more passionate about so what it allowed me to do was really get the tools together and anytime that Russell came out with a new pitch we would get it inside our certified partner group and I would be like oh my gosh wait a second where the heck is that and so he came out with the cookbook and so here came the cookbook he came with the black box and I have to get the black box I didn’t need the book I already have a signed book I think um and what it enabled me to do is channel all of my different ideas and thoughts and put it on one page but the behind-the-scenes and I think that’s the most important is understanding your niche and speaking their language and where to find them because you know I see what is your niche what really is your niche so my niche is working with women and so I work with women and mindset and it’s not just women in general no so now I mean that’s a pretty broad group here so won’t you say what really is your niche working with magnets so my mission working with women that come from depression that come from a place that they don’t feel good enough or they feel invincible they feel like the world just passed over them and that they’re going through this motions of life and it’s just not fulfilling and a girlfriend of mine that committed suicide was my main leverage in July 17th the 2016 I’m sorry no yeah yeah 2016 July 17 of 2016 I finished 205 miles inside a bike ride and that day she committed suicide and that leveraged me forward in pushing through my own fears in my own limits to get out and connect with other women and get out and find that inner child that women suppress and no longer can come forward and go through with that so I did what Russell said developed my tribe okay I’m gonna find my tribe I’m gonna find out where they’re at where do they hang out what do they talk like work where did I talk like before I learned all the stuff this epiphany bridge of how to get out of that head because US women we got these headcase issues and so you can say that I can’t say that kind of stuff and I love to find out where did we lose ourselves where did we lose ourselves and being all these different roles of being a mom or a sister someone that has to have it all together and overcome those limits of saying you know what I could just be me I could find my voice and if someone loves me then they love me and that’s their projection and that’s their journey and if they don’t then maybe the timings not right for both of us and so what clickfunnels has enabled me to do is to be able to touch these women that are profound that I’ve never even met like human to human touch but now it’s like hey Lise I need to talk to you and they send me some really heartfelt messages of I’m dying and that and I can relate to that and I could say I know I understand that and I can come out that compassionately and empathetically on saying this is steps and things that I’ve done and it’s creating just that one step and moving that forward and so with clickfunnels that’s enabled me to get that message out there and there is billions of women in the world that we feel like we have to do it all and I think if we can just stop for a second and say hey how can I learn this one thing and then move forward and what can other people help me with you know and how do I stretch and ask questions when I feel overwhelmed because I think a lot of women we have to put on the front that we don’t have to ask questions and I had to really understand clickfunnels which was a foreign language I had to understand how does that work now if you want to talk horse muscle all day long I could do that but I had to put myself aspyn a funnel hacking live a funnel hacking live again be mentored through ongoing coaching to say hey when do I not know and pull it all together to put it together the funnel itself is easy to build out it’s we’re finding the connection of how do I get to those humans how do I speak that because that’s where the funnel works on the other side totally agree so what is your funnel so you’re driving people and your phone is it a teleseminar funnel is a webinar funnel is it a product right now right now I have two different funnels the first one is building my tribe and then I have the automation on the backend because I got rid of confusions off the counter Shannon and I could understand how it works and I was spending money every month on something that just sat there with the newsletter for money and so what I did now is I have it automated and I have the backend once they click into my system it says hey send me some more information I want understand what integrative online coaching it Oh in my life then they go through the automation process on the backend and then so that’s filled with videos and that’s filled teaching and then I send out to my tribe this ongoing every day there’s five to six hosts hey how do we move forward lots of activity which I’m like humbled and how much activity of just the page itself but then it’s also the behind the scenes that I go I got your sister let’s hold hands and let’s do this together I love it I love your post I saw as far as the importance of leaping without the net beeping it really is and I and last year when I was like okay you know what my next step what’s my next step for 2017 and it’s been a whirlwind it really has this next step of like recording videos and things that I pushed myself beyond where I thought I couldn’t do um now it’s really pretty easy I love it I love it congratulations again all of your success you also have a wedding venue is that right yes how are using click phones to leave him to that – yes we are so wedding venue was a thought that in 2008 before the economy completely tanked we lost 40 acres of the property that we had and our idea was hey if we can have a place where people come to get married and celebrate life and celebrate their factors of what go through and their enjoyment what could we do well then in you know this whole clique final learning processing in 2016 property came up available and my husband’s like babe we’re gonna do this and I’m like no no actually we’re not gonna do this well a separate property came available and this property was even better so this property is like 15 minutes from our house the other property was over an hour and a half this property is an agritourism and it backs up to six hundred and fifty acres for hiking and it backs up to six hundred fifty acres to take women on retreats and go through you know just getting into the dirt and going processes so the other property didn’t have that so this property he built a wedding venue barn a rustic barn I went to the east coast and I went down California to say hey what would be unique and what would really make it beautiful yeah everything rough cut for the exterior all the interior it was this past winter was really hard between ice and snow and you know so that’s up and then we started driving traffic to that funnel where at first you know we did the opt-in just to get like a free hey let’s do a checklist for our wedding but what happened is okay where else can we market this funnel so then we found two different companies that can market the funnel and we spend 400 bucks for marketing and it’s returned over 130,000 my big step in so now coming up in May for my birthday 16th 17th and 18th I’m gonna do my own group inside that venue Oh congratulations yeah Lisa I’m so happy so happy for you so if people want to get ahold of you is alpha warrior women at gmail.com is that the best place that’s the best place comes right to me awesome if they want to check out your funnel was there a place they can go see that and they can go into the elf warrior women comm Alpha War II movie calm awesome congratulations on all your success Lee I’m so happy for you I wish you all the continued success and you gotta let me know how things going man for your birthday I will well definitely thank you thanks hi guys thanks for listen What I Learned At Tai Lopez’ Mansion

What I Learned At Tai Lopez’ Mansion

http://funnelhackerradio.com – Funnel Hacker Radio Podcast

This is the 2nd time I have been to Tai Lopez’ mansion in Beverly Hills. This experience was totally different than the first time. I reveal what I learned while there with Russell Brunson. The evening got started late and went till 2 am. I reveal the value bombs that were shared between Russell and Tai.

Show Notes:

-How much money would you pay for the process to sell a service as opposed to the actual service itself?

-If you want to know how well your business is doing, look at your cost to acquire a customer

-There are false beliefs that you can prove wrong to show the need for you?

-Dave wants you to realize the importance of selling something you don’t have

-Curate the product you are affiliating or even selling

-You, like Ryan Moran, can be become known for using other people’s content well

-Type “A” Players

Quotes:

“Document the process while you’re going through creating some of the content. The process you’ll find is, typically, more valuable than the content you create.”

“If you can identify what the false beliefs were and then identify what had happened to you to actually change those beliefs, that is how you sell anything.”

“A players are exponentially more valuable on your team than B players.”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back to funnel hacker radio this is Dave Woodward your host and this is just me today so usually I end up having some amazing people are just crushing it with funnels and things online and I thought you know what I’ve been traveling so much recently and I run across some of the most amazing marketers out there and I keep forgetting to actually just record a podcast when I’m with them so I thought you know what I am just gonna try to give you a quick summary of some of the travels and everything else they’ve been going on so the week of gosh like the last week of November Russell and I ended up flying out to warrior con which is Garrett White’s event had an amazing event there afterwards ended up doing a recording for Stu McLaren and for a charity function he was doing for one of his employees and then we end up driving up to Tai Lopez’s mansion and doing a podcast for ty afterwards we ended up spending the last day over at James melon chance event so it’s just a crazy crazy three days but I just really wanted to make sure actually ended up being as to this but I want to make sure you guys understand some of the marquee lessons that I’m seeing all the time on a regular basis when I’m out meeting with just amazing amazing marketers and people I just have the privilege of running into so it was fascinating for me when I was with Russell at Ty’s mansion and hearing some things he was talking to ty about the interaction going back and forth spending time with their with ty staff Alex Muir who basically is a CEO of and co-founder of mentor box and my stuff they’re doing so it’s just again totally an amazing experience so I’m gonna try to dive right into this thing and give you guys some ideas far as what are some of the things you can be doing in your business to just massively crush it based on some of the things that we ended up talking about while we’re out it ty Lopez mansion in Beverly Hills so with that the first thing is the importance of document the process and not creating content we started this conversation actually with Garrett white while Russell was speaking on your white stage and Russell I end up talking a little more about it as we were driving up to Ty’s place and then it came up again when we were at that Ty’s basically working with Ty so one of the things I want to talk to you guys about is how important it is especially when you kind of first get started because people are always like – you know I’m having a hard time getting start I need to create the product first and so they spent all this time and energy trying to create a product and yet they don’t have they haven’t created a list haven’t done anything like that so I can tell you what I’ve seen happen and I just saw it with Garrett I’ve seen it with Russell I’ve seen it with ty I’ve seen it with so many amazing marketers and that is the whole idea as far as they document the process while they’re going through actually creating some of the content the process you’re gonna find is more important typically than the actual content that you end up creating the reason for that is a lot of people you’re bringing on they’re in the exact same position and shoes that you’re in right now where they’re trying to find out exactly how to do what you’re doing as far as creating that type of content so I would highly recommend that you focus and really document the process now the document the process can be done through either Facebook live it can be done through YouTube video it can be done through a blog but you’ve got to create create that that content is the documentation of what you’re doing so that way people can understand they’re going through the exact same things that you’re going through your pain your frustration is the same pain frustration they’re gonna be experiencing so I want to make sure that as you’re going through this do not forget the importance of documenting the process it typically almost always is going to be more important than the actual content that you end up creating so realize you can again I highly recommend doing that through video you’re able to sell yourself better on video people aren’t connecting with you they’re all in on seeing you they’re seeing your pain they’re seeing your frustration they’re feeling it through video it also then allows you the opportunity you want to you can strip the audio off use it as a podcast you can use it as teasers and everything else but I highly recommend document the process on a video where you decide to post it’s up to you but do it on video second thing CAC this is by far one of the most important things I can oh my gosh cannot tell you the importance of CAC cost to acquire a customer I meet all the time with people are trying to throw millions of dollars at clickfunnels as investors who wanted to get involved and click funnels we are not taking money we’re not working with VCS that’s not we’ve done everything with privately funded but the crazy thing what always gets asked is what your cost acquire a customer it happens always be one of the first quad questions that Mark Cuban asks if you’re watching shark tank so what’s your cost to acquire customer that cost to acquire customer is the most important metric you’re gonna find the next one after that is gonna be what’s your average car value is so cost acquire customer is basically what is what does it really cost you in traffic in ads and all that other kind of stuff to get a person to buy not person to sign up but to person to actually buy Dan Kennedy is quoted probably weekly if not almost daily by Russell as far as the whole idea here and that is whoever can spend the most acquire customer wins and so we want to make sure you understand that it’s so often people when they fall across hard times like oh man I’m gonna cut my marketing budget that’s like the worst thing you can do what you really need to identify is how how can you spend more to acquire a customer and that obviously is tied into your average cart value but realize the whole idea here is you have to know what is your cost to acquire customer you do not have a business until you can pay for ads if you’re running everything just off affiliates if you’re running everything off joint ventures that’s not a true business you only have a true business when you can actually spend money to acquire customer so you have to know what does that cost acquire customer and it was funny we were talking with Alex mayor about mentor box and how much they spend to to sell a box talking to Ty about Oh tons the different stuff that he’s doing it again he guys got more offers and things out there is so many different niches but again that cost acquire customer is one of the most important metrics so first thing basically is document the process don’t create content second thing cost a choir customer third thing we talked about is how do you actually sell something now realize when you’re going we started this conversation again with Garrett Wyden just kind of followed it was just amazing weekend because we talked so much about this whole idea and that is you have to understand that when you’re trying to sell something typically it’s so funny we see this all the time in the network marketing MLM space where they forget what they went through to actually sign up as a representative or market or whatever they want to call it so realize you first of all have to identify what are the false beliefs that you had before you bought or believed whatever it is you’re selling so what are the false beliefs you had to go through to get there if you’re in the fitness space and you started losing weight you ended up buying a product and now if you’re trying to sell a product what did you have what are the false beliefs that you had about the products that you purchased if you’re in financial services the same type of thing you should have what you’re gonna find is anytime you’re selling something you should have probably gone through and purchased someone else’s product at some point so what were the limiting beliefs that you had or those false beliefs that you had before you bought that second thing then is what had to happen for you to actually change that belief there was some process that you had to go through so if you can identify what the false beliefs were and then identify what had to happen to you to actually change those beliefs that’s how you sell anything because whoever you’re selling to has the same false beliefs so identify what those false beliefs are and then identify what you had to go through tell that story of what you went through to overcome the false beliefs that they’re having that’s the easiest way of selling anything because you’re then putting yourself in the mind and the situation and the role that the person you’re selling to is currently in so if you can become that person and talk to them the way they what’s going through their head you’ll sell anything in the world because they’re relating to you so again the first thing we talked about was docked me the process don’t create content the second thing we talked about was cost acquire customer the third thing is how do you sell something the fourth thing is the importance of test test test test test this kind of goes back as far as we have so many people who spend all the time trying to create a product before they even try to sell it and this may seem really weird I had the same conversation when I was speaking at Brigham Young University teaching our intrepid little class and that is one of the best things you can actually do is sell something that you don’t have did you haven’t created you haven’t produced a physical product because what you’re gonna find is if you can sell something that’s if something guys we were talking talked to me – too many people recently someone just said the day was asking us as far as so do you use a lot of a lot of you know groups and testing groups and you know types of things to identify what people want Henry also said no the only thing I ever use is a person’s credit card if I can sell someone something and they vote with their credit card that will outweigh any case study any group people as far as what they might think they want the product to be or anything else it’s not till someone takes out the credit card and actually pays for something that you know you’ve actually have a sales funnel that works and did you have a product people willing to pay for so we were the example that Russell used when he’s talking with Ty was about Trey Llewellyn so Trey’s again one of our two comma Club winners dear friend amazing guy crushing it like crazy started off the whole idea as far as I’m gonna create a funnel every single day if that’s what it takes to until I actually understand how to create funnels and he was started off the t-shirt business ended up in the flashlight business only because he actually was in the building a membership platform around guns and and everything in that area is far as associated with that so basically Trey was in a situation where he ended up selling a product he did not even have what if that happened was he was he found out from his customers he basically was talking to him is find out you know that’s what else do you guys want and one thing that basically ended up finding out one of the things they wanted was a gun cleaning kit he’s like shoot I don’t have I want you to take me to get a gun cleaning kit from China so I thought you know what I’m gonna go ahead and basically sell this and see if people actually want it sweet great is final basically selling a gun cleaning kit that he didn’t have and where’d he get that gun cleaning kit he actually went to Walmart right across the street and in a buying it and ended up basically marking it up and selling it to people so he’s basically going through a financial arbitrage on a product and we see this happen all the time in the physical product space but realize you can actually sell something that you don’t have and this is the whole idea far as testing testing testing testing to make sure something works before you spend all the time and money creating it we’ve seen this on a ton of products at times we actually end up creating a product or we sell a product before it’s even been created and then let people know that hey you actually get to watch us create this product and they think it’s an amazing opportunity the reality is we just want to create the product before we knew people wanted to spend money on it so understand that you can actually sell something that you don’t actually have created and people enjoy the creation of that product this kind of goes back again as far as document the process we’re talking in the process with them while we’re creating the content so it’s a huge huge opportunity make sure that your test test test test before you actually spend all your time and effort creating things or buying a whole warehouse full of the product that you don’t know whether or not is going to sell so that’s number four number five here is what I learned from Alex Mayer who is the mentor box CEO and co-founder and that is they’re doing over a million dollars a month on a mentor box and I’m like you got to be kidding me it’s like yeah I said your bait you don’t even it’s not in your product it’s because no we actually are just taking other people’s products putting it into a box and selling it and so I thought you know what what I learned from Alex a couple things one of them was here’s a guy who had a huge huge tech company where he had over a hundred developers doing a ton of stuff for he and Ty years ago and basically end up getting rid of all them he’s using clickfunnels with two people accomplishing the same and stuff he was doing with 100 and that’s the power behind clickfunnels is you actually can and one of things he said he loved is again it goes back to that testing because I actually can test different things before I spending time creating the product inside of Mentor box and so mentor box started off as an off physical product where they actually were mailing out books but their costs became super super expensive he’s like you know what we realized that what people really wanted was not the physical book what they really valued more than anything else was a audio or video of the author talking about the book he said so we actually are are basically meeting with the author videoing the author talking about what are the two or three key principles in the book takes about 30 40 minutes they have this crazy value that they’re actually able to sell at a higher price than the actual books and then on the back end they then tie in their Amazon affiliate link for Mentor box and I thought you know it’s just again he goes back to basically principal from Alex a couple things was one the power of click funnels literally one for 50 so for every person he’s using working inside a click funnels basically is the equivalent of 50 developers second thing from Alex on that was the importance of getting a product out there quickly just again he just assimilated someone else’s product and sold it and then realize that people what people really want it wasn’t the product as much as it was the video and the from the author and now he’s created almost a Netflix platform type of thing where he’s able to sell more and again I just thought was fascinating so number six is a principle that Russell talked to Ty about when it was really quite funny because ty didn’t realize he actually had one a dream car through quick funnels affiliate contest and he’s like you gotta be kidding me I didn’t even know we we sold that much hey yeah you definitely have he goes man so how do how could Russell what would you teach people about becoming an affiliate and I mean obviously huge opportunity for Russell does to sell people on click funnels affiliate program but more important than that was what he said and that is said you overheard the best thing he says by was just start all over and he can you have to understand Russell literally sold millions tens of millions of dollars as an affiliate but the key here is he said if I was to do it all over what I would end up doing is curating content of the product owner a product I was going to sell so take for example if you wanted to sell ty Lopez and some of the stuff that ty Lopez is doing you basically the best way of selling Tai Lopez and to build a list of Tai Lopez fans and everything else would be to create a content a curated content piece in other words you could actually send them to a click funnels landing page where what they would end up getting is they would end up getting 5 to 10 of the very best videos that you found on YouTube from Tai talking about him and his business and everything else because what you find right now is there’s so much content out there that people will actually pay for someone else to assimilate and curate that content for them so I highly recommend that no matter what you’re selling take a look as far as especially if if you’re in the if you’re an affiliate this is the easiest thing in the world where you literally go so right now if you want to be an amazing affiliate for click funnels you literally could go out to YouTube and you could find what you feel are the best five seven 10 videos of Russell teaching something and then basically off of those two people in exchange for them giving you their email and you then would see on the click funnels landing page would then be the office it would be where they actually would get it and it would be a downloadable link or you could actually send them to another page bottom line is you would have all those videos there for them to simplify the ease of it don’t just send them to YouTube but basically have those videos right there they land on it now they’re consuming content on your page that is actually created by somebody else same type of thing if you were in fitness space all of a sudden you said you know what what are some of the best hit videos out there well now you can go out to the YouTube you can find some of the best hit videos that you liked and you can basically start building a list of people in the fitness space if you were years ago in the direct marketing space we spent a lot of time as far as working with when I was consulting for large companies they basically would create a checklist and it was a checklist of of all the things you would want basically before you hire a contractor to build your house which has been a nightmare sidenote before she build work with a contract before you hire a before you get a loan if your loan officer before you work with real estate agent before you do I don’t just in or whatever thing it is a person’s gonna do especially if it’s something that people don’t do on a regular basis because that the fear of the unknown is one things drives people crazy is like I don’t know what yeah I don’t know what questions to ask you literally could create the content we could create a checklist or you could curate what other people are saying about that and use that to to basically help them and you’re building this huge list they now see you as the expert and all you’ve done is you’ve actually borrowed expert status from these other people so getting huge opportunity for you it was kind of funny actually we were just got back from Ryan Moran’s event in Austin Texas capitalism common and it was fascinating cuz Russell was talking to to Ryan he said so Ryan how often you know it’s a three-day then how often are you up there speaking and you know teaching her of content he goes I don’t at all he’s like what because I mean Russell typically teaches you know 2 to 3 times he’s talking every day I felt lacking life is like how why not he goes honestly Russell I don’t believe it that people really want to hear from me I don’t feel like I have that great of content he says what I’m really good at doing is bringing other amazing people have awesome content speaking on my stage and then afterwards asking the questions that I know all my audience really wants to hear and I thought wow that’s fascinating here’s a guy Ryan Moran who again has just killing it and worked in the Amazon business space sell him ton of physical products ended up selling off his Amazon business and now is going all-in on capp Khan and it was fascinating because his whole thing was an entire event where he’s not even the person up there what he’s doing is he’s curating amazing speakers and then asking them questions at the end and he had over 500 people pay him over a thousand bucks to be sitting in this event where he had the likes of Daymond John and Russell and Roland Frasier and Perry Belcher and guys who were just and Bryan Lee basically is the guy who created there was co-founder of Legal Zoom and now the honest company he’s got great speakers and he’s basically disasters after they went up and presented something so realize you can do this in a ton of areas and it’s a huge huge opportunity for you number seven is the importance of a players this was fascinating because I was joking around with some of the ties staff so you realize here we are we’re sitting at Ty’s mansion if you’re familiar with this setting we’ve got the two chairs right behind us is we’re basically videoing out shooting over the little koi pond he has there in the entry and then the his main doors behind and then behind that basically as far as where all the cameras are we’ve got you know probably 10 to 12 people there and then in the other room there was probably another ten so they’re about 20-25 people in the house realize we were supposed to be out of there at 11 we didn’t leave until after 2:00 in the morning and his whole staff was there the whole time it was fascinating I asked him I said so is this typical for you guys but yeah it’s it’s pretty typical he says if 40-hour work weeks just are not even we don’t even no one even looks at it that way I said why is it everyone stays because you know Tyson’s built this amazing culture where people want to be around him and we learned so much from being here that whether it’s helping tie in his business or things were doing on her own it we just wanted to have we want to be around him and feel that so culture and creating that staff is your employees everything else is one of the most important things you can do in any business it’s fascinating but we ended up talking to Ty about the importance of hiring a players because that’s all we’ve tried to do here at clickfunnels is hire eight players and it was really amazing because Ty basically said you know what for me the only thing I care about is again Alex mayor who’s been a business partner for Ty’s for almost the last eight years says you know we started this business years ago and all we’ve ever tried to do is hire amazing developers hire amazing talent and its really what helped us grow our business and Russell Dahmer said they’re talking about the idea that you know for every a player is probably worth the number the number doesn’t matter but whether it’s thirty two hundred times more important than a be player ten times the whole idea is the fact that a players are exponentially more value to you on your team than a B player so if you have to pay more for an a player in compensation or an equity or in different things like that realize if they truly are a player the ROI on that is so huge it doesn’t even compare to a B player it’s one of those things I always laugh whenever someone doesn’t last very long here we try real hard to make sure that people stick around at clickfunnels for a long time we really try to build that culture and everything else but every once in a while someone kind of slips through the cracks and it’s amazing how soon they basically realize they they want to leave or we realize you know what it’s just not working out and the reason it’s not working out is because they’re just not it they’re just not up to it we you know we had a situation while back where a guy basically was on the clock and it was just it was frustrating for me because I even though we we have amazing amazing people work for us a lot of these guys are here way before quote-unquote the clock would start in our way out here much much later we had one guy literally just kind of clocked in and clocked out and you could literally set your clock by the time he left I mean it was live it was 5 o’clock that door was basically hitting him on the way out so realize the importance of culture and hiring a player so real fast again quick summary here first and most important document the process don’t create content second of all cost to acquire customer is the most important metric you can pay attention to tied very closely to average cart value number three is how do you actually sell something number four is test test test and actually sell things before you create them or have them number five is a lot of things I ended up learning from Alex mayor’s for CEO of mentor box number six is curate content and number seven is the importance of culture and most importantly hiring team a player so with all that said thank you so much for listening let me know if this is a value to you I really am trying to find out whether or not putting these kind of words of wisdom in that I’m finding as I’m out there is more important to you or value to you or at least equivalent to the value I’m getting when I bring in amazing mentors who are 9 Digital Marketing Secrets From Warrior Con and Garrett J. White

http://funnelhackerradio.com – Funnel Hacker Radio Podcast

Garrett J. White is the founder of Wake Up Warrior. He recently hosted his 2nd annual WarriorCon where Russell Brunson Spoke. While I was there I was so impressed with what Garrett has created. After being humiliated at the event I decided it was time to take notes. I am so glad I did. I reveal the 9 marketing secrets I learned.

Show Notes:

-CULTure

-A good culture in a business makes you feel left out not being involved

-You are going to suck at first, but you won’t be at that state forever

-It is your audience, YOU should know them

-What might be possible if I just believed?

-You’re going to have to lead by example

-Show your appreciation

-Always change and always improve; both in your own life and your business

-Surround yourself with people that have your vision

-Go all in on those people who have helped you get to where you are and where you will be

-Never EVER give up on family

Quotes:

“You’re going to suck, you’re going to suck real bad at first. What you’re going to find over time though is that eventually you’re going to suck less. And, eventually, you might even get to the point where you’re actually good.”

“You have to know your audience and be willing to call them out.”

“Because [Garrett] is leading by example, it is going to be very difficult for people following him not to be willing to do everything he is asking them to do because he’s doing it himself.”

The success in digital marketing comes from so many places. Whether it be email marketing, Facebook advertising 2016/17 and beyond, how to make money online is not a simple answer but Garrett shows us how to create a culture, a tribe, that wants to be part of our online marketing adventure.

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back to funnel hacker radio I’m your host Dave Woodward and today is gonna do all those days where he gets kind of a highlight reel of what’s been happening this have been traveling around I’ve been on a crazy crazy travel schedule for the last couple of weeks and last week I was actually on the road with Russell and heard him speak at Gare Jai White’s warrior con which is a crazy crazy event so I thought what I do is I give you some of the things that I’m learning while I’m out traveling around and in meeting with some of the most amazing markers in the entire world so with all that said I’m just gonna kind of dive right into this I would appreciate if you actually like these types of content and things I’m doing let me know you can go ahead and hit me up on Facebook Messenger or if you want email me Dave at clickfunnels comm just trying to find out if this is the type of content that you guys really like and want me to continue to do obviously I will continue doing interviews and things with some of our top funnel hackers that’s what the idea behind this was but I’m trying to kind of expand this and provide you guys some of the things as far as real world tactics and strategies and things that I’m literally running across every single day as I’m out traveling or as I’m with Russell or with other just amazing marketer so again go ahead and leave comments here or email me Facebook Messer whatever it takes I just I really kind of like your feedback on that so what I’m going to dive right into this so there’s nine different things I really captured and took some notes on why I was with Garrett and with Russell and I just wanted to kind of let you guys understand this and see how it works into your business one of the first things and we joke around about this all the time here at clickfunnels and that is the whole word cult sure and culture is king I cannot express to you how important this is in your business I was funny actually I was just we’ve got our partner meeting yesterday and I was on the phone with the company I was looking at possibly buying some of their technology or things of that sort and it was they were like gosh you know I they’ve spoken to a lot of our funnel community in trying to persuade them over to where they’re at they’re going man one thing I tell you Dave is your audience they are like rabid fans that you have such a strong culture there that it’s hard to get anybody to ever leave that’s the power behind this and I cannot express you enough if you’re not worried if you’re not trying to do things that build that type of culture in your business again it’s I one of my favorite ones to look at his Apple I mean you cannot go anywhere and you find a person who’s an Apple person and I’m in my cell my first Apple product was an iPhone since then I’ve got think two iPads I’ve got four different iMac I I met pros I’ve got six different AI bullets from my family I’ve got an iPod I mean it just it’s crazy how many Apple products I have and I won’t use anything else but that so lets me jump back in and kind of explain you what happened when I was at warrior con so Russ and I flew in the day they’d already they were about day three or day two of their of their week and we flew in we got in late and the event was already going on so we kind of just snuck in the back and as you walk in the door what you’re greeted with is this swarm of 600 men all dressed in black black polo shirts with with warrior cone on it black pants black socks black shoes and here we are looking completely out of place to the point where two of Gerrits guys basically brought it brought us two of the polos and said you know you guys might want to put these on I wasn’t thinking anything of it Russell wasn’t thinking much of it so we just kind of put him on on our backpacks on the back table weird again we’re away from everybody on the back road not thinking it even matters at the between speakers Garrett basic gets up and says hey Russell Dave put on your black balls it was like whoa I totally felt out of place I felt like I was being chastised for not being obedient and I was like oh my gosh I feel terrible so we stepped out changed our shirts came back in and then all of a sudden we actually felt a part of the group it was this crazy thing and it was just kind of fascinating to see how important that was as far as that belonging that connection Russell spoke the following day and I was there trying to you know get things set up and all that kind of stuff I walked in I had fortunately I brought black sweatpants so I had black sweatpants on but I got white shoes but they have black on them black laces and everything else but they’re white shoes and oh my gosh I got chastised to the point where his team basically said listen David you either have to step in the back and we’ll spray-paint your shoes black or you have to take your shoes off well fortunately for me I love being barefoot so for me it was super easy option I’m like I’ll take my shoes off in fact if you want to spray-paint my my shoes my feet black I’m okay with that but I love going barefoot and so I basically running around the hotel room barefoot or in the event room but it’s fascinating me to see how important that culture really was so if you’re not currently doing things to add culture to your environment to your business man you got to find something you got to be able to create that type of connection number two and Russell acts I mean uh Russell used this video when he spoke it’s actually a video of of Garrett speaking that funnel hacking live where basically talked about the fact that you’re gonna suck you’re gonna suck real bad at first and over time what you’re gonna find is that eventually you’re gonna suck less and then eventually you might actually get to a point where you’re actually even good and it’s kind of funny hearing Russell speak on stage cuz he used this and then he actually used a reference from his own personal life where he was like I got you right now Russell’s done over 600 podcasts if you’re not following Russell you obviously should marketing secrets calm follow that podcast for sure but it’s fascinating to me to hear basically Russell’s saying gosh I remember when Stephen came on he said you know Russ I’ve listened to every one of your podcast and it wasn’t until you got to like 45 46 47 49 50 that you actually started to even get decent kind of good it was like oh that said that hurts but it’s just a reality understand you you got to find your voice and the way you find your voice is realizing that you got to publish gotta get that content out there and just know that you’re gonna suck it first but that’s okay it really is okay and over time you’ll find that you suck less and less but you have to get comfortable with the reality the fact that you’re gonna suck at first but know that that’s good that’s how it’s supposed to be third thing you have got to know your audience your avatar this is one of things Garrett has done an amazing amazing job at I remember the very first time I saw his first product back and basically was doing a free documentary on basically wake up warrior and it was fascinating to me in fact if you go to wayback machine you can kind of check it out and go to wake up warrior to see some of his older stuff back in like 2013 2014 really 2014 early 2015 and it was right basically he understood that what he wanted to do is wanted to connect with men but not just men what he want to do is you want to connect with married businessman so his headline is attention married businessman learn to unlock in parenthesis nearly unlimited power in your marriage business and life without having to cheat on your wife get a divorce ignore your children leave your church for a date with drugs I’m like that was such a powerful headline totally separated I mean first of all you had to be a man then you had to be married and then you had to own a business I mean that it’s like you have to realize who your audience is and be willing to call them out basically if you’ve read anything and experts secrets our Russell talks a ton about the title of Liberty and I’m not gonna go into detail on it right now but realize if you don’t have a title of Liberty something a person can stake their flag in the ground saying this is who I am you’re really having a hard time it kind of ties ties back a little bit to the culture but more importantly you’ve got to be able to help your audience separate themselves from everybody else number four is belief and gear did an amazing job talking about belief says you know what you guys think basically what might be possible if I just believed really think about what might be possible and start just kind of going down that path let your mind roll realize that one might you believe or what might be possible if you believed and then from there who would you have to become to just believe that whatever that is who do you have to become and the third thing in that then was who would I have to become to just do the work so first of all again realize what might be possible if I just believed and then you take that hope and you think okay from that what would I have to become to just believe that and then who would I have to become to just do the work to make that belief happen that was number four number five was you got to lead by example and this was a that’s kind of funny we I love love Southern California it’s my home area I’ve been lived air prior to moving up here to Boise but so we’re sleeping with the window open which I just love oh man nothing excites me more than here and hearing the waves crashing on the beach smelling the salt water air I mean that just decorates me and so we woke up and all of a sudden we woke up and and oh son I hear these guys you know basically going through these marine type of drills I’m like what the heck is going on so I look out the window and here you got Garret leading by example where he’s got six hundred men out on the grass basically putting them through military drills getting them ready physically ready to be able to sit through this meeting to absorb everything he’s going to teach and it’s one of those things where if you’re gonna be part of warrior there’s nothin you understand the only way your knee part worries you’re gonna you’re all in there there’s no such thing as dipping your toe in the water with Garrett so you’ve got to be all in and Garrett leads by such massive example we’re literally just two weeks before he and Sam had gone out and they actually competed in the mother of all tough mudders it’s a 24-hour race to see how many times you can go through this loop basically of obstacles and I mean being shot to Elektra I mean just crazy crazy grab for 24 hours and he during that did 50 miles within 24 I mean that’s just a huge accomplishment but realized because he’s leading by example it’s really hard for anybody who’s gonna follow him not to be willing to do every single thing that he asked them to do because he’s doing it himself so number six is the importance of showing appreciation and I really had sunk in from the very beginning when I first started seeing this but it really sunk in when I saw Russell on stage and the way the gratitude appreciation was shared towards Russell it’s what happened is after every speaker you’ve got to present everything else Garrett has his to clap and then some word like you know Booya something like that it’s really just express appreciation and then they would actually give words of gratitude where he would repeat a word and they said move and then they basically repeat that back to the audience you have 600 men saying thank you 600 men saying you changed my life 600 men saying because of you I am Who I am and he just felt this amazing overwhelming gratitude and it was so I I loved everything that we’ve created it clickfunnels but most important I just love Russell and all that he’s done to help build and grow this movement but it was fascinating for me to sit back and to hear garrett express appreciation to russell basically saying russell these 600 men that you see out here represent a fraction of the lives of over 100,000 men who have come in through warrior and none of that would have been possible if it wasn’t for you and clickfunnels and they feel that kind of appreciation I mean one for me being a particle funnels is a huge opportunity and a blessing to my own personal life but just to see and to feel that in the room and then to hear 600 men basically repeating words of affirmation and appreciation towards Russell and almost at a chance was just super super cool so I highly recommend that wherever you are in your business life to make sure that you’re showing a massive amount of appreciation you haven’t gotten there by yourself so you got to recognize those who helped you along the way number seven and that is to realize that Garrett is the only person who’s spoken at every one of our final hacking live events and he’s going to be speaking again at this year’s event and the reason I mentioned that is what is fascinating for me as I look at Garrett is every year he speaks at our on our stage he continues to spend time changing and growing and becoming something new and like blast year it was he and he and his family so he and his wife Danielle and their and their two girls on stage and showing basically how they were one funnel away and basically at one final way saved their marriage and so realize you’ve got to be in a situation to where you’re always changing you’re always improving you’re always growing and this is one things that Garrett’s in an amazing job at as you take a look back on all his old content and where he’s at now he’s always in the Pope always growing and in physically and spiritually mentally in his relationships in business you’ve got to be that type of a person you’ve got to be able to go all-in if you want your business to grow you’ve got to find a way of becoming more and better and growing so you can contribute and give to more people number eight and that is you gotta surround yourself with people who have your vision I Gary got up as Russell was on stage it was he and then as one of the guys basically started warrior with him Jeremy so Garrett and Jeremy we’re up talking with Russell it was just fascinating just to kind of see how important it is as far as the people who around you again Jeremy and and gear when they started having they didn’t know how to even work a camera and so they went through a businessman we didn’t know what we were doing but because of this we change this and we did this and and continue to grow together but the idea behind it was Jeremy was so focused in and believed all 100% on what he was doing and I can tell you in the success of clickfunnels we just literally were with our partner kon or a partner oops our partners we just had a big partner meeting and in with our partners here we kind of Russell took the opportunity to create or to record an episode for for marketing secrets podcast and went around they said you know what did you learn and so all six of us as far as partners and co-founders basically shared what we learned over the last three years in building a company’s gone from zero to over a hundred million dollars impacting live over 55,000 of clickfunnels users and just what have we learned and you know one of the main things that all of us agreed was the importance of people the people that you surround yourself with in your business and you’ve got to be willing to you know to go L all-in on those people the last one which to me it really touched me emotionally probably the most as a father was really to understand that you never ever give up on family we Russell did a podcast just recently with Nathan latke and was talking about gosh you know Russell what do you do with all this within the money you’re making all this kind stuff what are you investing in and he said you know what I’m best in is my family cuz what are we talking about Edie actually if again if you’re not Pauline rustled marketing secret you gotta fall in that marking secrets calm basically we’re also spend a ton of money on his side yard of you know he’s got nine trampolines now he’s got a basketball court a basically a baseball diamond in the back kickball soccer field volleyball court all these kind of things that are just for his family to basically spend more time with his family and enhance that relationship and it was fascinating to me as I saw Garrett doing the same thing I’ve listened and I followed geared for years and he’s always so he’s on basically Danielle as his second second marriage he’s got two two beautiful daughters with Danielle but he actually has a son from his first marriage his name is Parker and I’ve heard I’ve talked about this for years but it was Parker was at the event yeah oh my gosh this is really cool and so Garrett basically got up and he talked about his son Parker and he said yeah we’ve been so Parker’s 18 years old just graduate from high school it’s lived with his mom up in Canada and he and Garrett have not had a very good relationship at all for years but this last year he decided Noah I’ve got to find a way of connecting with my son and so he started basically texting him every single day and with no response from Parker at all in fact I know this is his right number what’s going on he won’t respond to me he was talking to his wife Danielle and said you know I’m just done with this you know what this kid he’s on his own I’ve said you know if Texas guy over 30 times not responding me and Daniels like if you give up now on him you’ll lose him forever and I said all right all right I’ll keep going it was after two months of daily texts with no response that Parker finally responded to a text and at first it was just one time a week and then it was two times a week and then three and then it was once a day and it was so fascinating for me to see Parker and his dad Garrett both up on stage today as Garrett announced that now his son Parker is now part of his family Danielle and they’re their two girls and he’s basically moved in and is now working for wake up warrior movement and I thought you know how important family is so with all that said and again I had the opportunity to Parker afterwards and said you know Parker tell me more about it he goes you know what I didn’t believe my dad I just didn’t believe it you know I we’ve been he hasn’t had anything to do with me for years and years I thought you know he’s telling what he’s doing that some ploys got going and he said you know what it wasn’t until you know after two two and a half months of text that I realized you know what he’s really he’s really trying so I tell you no matter what the whole reason we do business is because of our families and I would tell you to no matter where you are in your relationship anything else spend time enhancing and building deep deep relationships with your kids with your spouse with your significant other whoever it might be let them know how much you appreciate them and if the relationship is not where it needs to be do whatever it takes to make that happen that’s the whole reason we do what we do so with all that said I wanted to kind of wrap things up and basically tell you those the nine things I learned while I was out warrior con with Garrett and with Russell and everything else highly recommend that you guys again if you haven’t gotten a copy of expert secrets I don’t know why you haven’t but go to experts secrets comm just get a copy of the book and more important than that is implement do it take a principle in there and start doing stuff if you haven’t already started a
