the office kind of bizarre so welcome the sounds gonna work and all this craziness we’ve as you’ve probably been following one of things we’re trying to do is provide a whole bunch more content on some expert topics and one things we were talking about you the other day that we thought it’d be really a cool thing and that is in fact I think it was a pure call we were talking about Facebook groups yeah that’s kind of where this came from so the idea here is what we want to talk to guys about is the importance of building a Facebook group more importantly how do you build a booming Facebook group and so for that we’ve got Jewish Dorian the expert in Facebook group building here with us basically talking about how we’re gonna do that so for those of you guys we’re trying to do way to get him answers actually come to funnel hacking live and send a Julie’s table and ask her anything you want to know in fact well we’ll talk about that later but anything actually so with them Facebook yeah all right so the first thing is that everyone’s like how do you build an engaged Facebook right like and what is engagement right and so it’s not just about like how many comments you get it’s also about how fast people respond when that post is posted so you want to make it so easy for people to respond so like if you ask them like really hard questions it’s like do you like you know do you like tomatoes or potatoes like it’s easy right and so you want to create content that’s easy to answer requires very very very little effort and allows it to have a lot of response really fast so speed is the name of the game in engagements all right yeah it really is yeah yep so sometimes it’s tricky and you’re like oh I don’t have engagement it’s just like this like downward spiral one of the things you can do is create time to content what I mean by that it’s like plan some really fun thread like make it like some fanfare and like email your list and tell people that you’re gonna have this thread at this time and whoever you know has the best answer or something like that so that people are like ready Oh at seven o’clock we’re gonna do this thread and it’s gonna be really cool and it will get people to go and comment quickly which will then like trick the algorithm and then it’ll start to like go up because once you have terrible engagement it’s really hard to get it back so I know there’s a couple of resource you can find out as far as when most of your followers are online yeah or on Facebook are those important to you when you’re posting your content you time it when they’re on or do you try to tell them yeah I mean I do tend to post in the evenings because I feel like there’s more people online in the evenings but most of the time it’s like keeping a group engaged is almost more important like because once the algorithm is working then you don’t have to like fight an uphill battle so another way to do it is to become friends with people in your group so if you because it will show in the newsfeed if you comment on clean clickfunnels because you and I are friends and so if you’re having trouble times content really engage in content and then also start friending the people in the group and then engage with them and then they’ll start to see the posts in the newsfeed oh that’s that’s a cool idea yeah do you try to time yours on the same time your posts same time every day so thank you random I keep it completely dirty unpredictable yeah the other thing is now there’s all these Facebook group insights so now you can reward people who are the highest engagers you know give you explain to people what insights mean though so like on the sidebar of your group you’ll be able to see like who’s making the most comments who’s doing the most posts and you’ll see you look at the top ten and like in the click photos group we’re doing that now when we’re recognizing the people and so then that incentivizes them like ooh I got a shout out for Russell great and then they want to comment more so give away like free swag free stuff free spotlights things like this to get people to do the work for you I actually did podcast with a guy who was super excited because we did the top 10 post of the year yeah and he was all excited because his is one of the top three yeah I think again it’s the whole idea here is engage with people it’s it’s social that’s the whole idea exactly so alright so you want people to comment quickly and you want it to be easy you also want to friend request people in the group so that it starts to help show on the algorithm honor and incentivize people who are really you know really engaging and then the other thing that you can do which some people don’t want to do this but there are advantages to having what we call promo threads and so you have to choose for your group if you want to plain what a promo thread is yeah so a promo thread so in my group I allow people to promote their own services and products once or twice a week and it’s a dedicated thread and the beautiful part about this is once it gets going it’s like a massively engaged thread and it twice a week I don’t have to do any work Wow so these threads like I have a $50 Friday deal in my group and so like you can post your $50 deal and you have hundreds of comments and people like to join groups for the networking so if you give them like a little spot like that’s controlled where they can promote it helps the engagement it helps the group and it also helps them feel like there’s opportunity there which keeps them coming back I love that idea yeah by the way we don’t allow that in our group no but it’s a cool thing to do on your group yes yeah so it’s you know you can do this with deals you can do this with you can also do this with like follow threads I know a lot of people like they want to grow their Instagram following or they want to grow their whatever their Pinterest following and they do these threads where it’s like hey put your profile and follow people in the and these kinds of threads just like if these are great things to do if your Facebook group is really dead and you need to like is a great idea into it that’s a that follow thread I’ve seen really just bring a ton of life to a dead or just even a flat group or it just has it it’s getting the same amount of growth nothing’s really growing that’s out there that idea is awesome ya know one of the things that you should do is the comment ladder now the comment ladder is when somebody writes this nice pose with all this bait and then they tell you to get the answer to comment I’m a monkey right and you’re just like and you hate it the reason why it works is because people start commenting and then Facebook pushes it up right and it’s always at the top of a group but you can you can create that sort of environment without making people feel like they’re monkeys that having to like say I’m a monkey give me the answer you know and so you just think of questions where if you go it like even go to the click funnels group look at the questions that have hundreds of answers and they’re there it’s usually a very simple question that gives the the person responding a sense of like I wanna I want to have input right and then that’s the comment ladder without being a monkey I love that idea how does that tie into mini chat or things like that where you’re entering a keyword to get onto a list yeah so unfortunately many chat doesn’t work with groups right now that’s only works with pages so so if you’re on like it’s a little different like because when you’re on a page if you if you tell them it’s like hey if you comment you’ll get a message and a gift like that’s not a comment like it’s a little different I don’t know why it’s like you’re not withholding information you’re just saying here I want to deliver your gift this is how to do it but in groups we can’t do that yet there’s nobody chat very clear access yeah other ideas yeah I think you know what’s the reason for your group like you can’t just be an entrepreneur group anymore it’s a read oh okay read ocean you have to get you have to be there has to be a reason to be there there has to be you know remember that the the the reason people go into groups is for community so if it’s all the me me me show a lot of people want to build groups just to sell to them like you can sell in your group but make sure that there’s another incentive to being there otherwise it’s just like it’s like hey come to my party so i can spam you doesn’t it doesn’t work it goes back to the whole idea spars always be providing a ton of value people will follow you for value again it is content that’s what they want they want to find they’re joining your group because you are the expert or you have value they want to get that value from you or for other for other members in the group in sidebar group I know we get a ton like peer to peer yeah you know and and you can still get work in facebook groups but it’s all really value driven it’s about solving problems building relationships none of the old like spammy comment letters and in unveiled promos work anymore they just don’t that’s awesome so if they wanted to follow want to join clickfunnels Facebook group how would they do that it’s our official page I know slash groups slash clickfunnels there’s no promo allowed in there but just go and look at all the types of posts that are really engaging there some posts in there with thousands of comments and like learn why those posts were like look for the patterns to see what drove that engagement I think that’s really the key is if you can follow other if you’re in other people’s groups we talk about funnel hacking all the time I mean this is the same type of concept where you’re gonna find groups that are really super successful where they have a lot of engagement and there’s certain things that everyone’s doing to get that kind of engagement and you need to make sure you have that engagement in your group or otherwise people will eventually leave because they’re they’re not getting any value from it exactly and you know Facebook lives are a great way to get engagement in your group it’s gone you know going live if you have really really small groups having other people go live for you you know it’s like if you’re really busy and you’re like oh time to nurture a group make sure you have people that can converge for that group for you and that’s kind of why I like the promo thread boosting the algorithm well as we get closer a pin things up anything else you can think of that be real important value to these people yeah so if you know if your group right now is is kind of dead you’re gonna have a little bit of an uphill battle so do that timed content do the giveaways do things that like build buzz to get the algorithm kind of back in your favor and then just put things in place to keep that content those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back everybody this is in a fun new years beginning its 2018 and I am so excited for some of the crazy stuff that’s gonna happen in 2018 but one of the things I want to talk about real quick is a concept that I think most people really don’t understand I was talking with Garrett white a while back about this and recently he had ended up doing him one of his daily podcasts about the topic as well I thought you know I really need to explain this in more detail to our funnel hacking audience to really make sure they understand how this concept works in their marketing and in the things that you’re actually selling so the whole idea here is what are you selling are you selling a commodity or an experience I’m a huge believer in experiences for Christmas and everything else I hate just giving normal gifts for me it’s more all about the experience so I love taking trips I love providing people experiences that they wouldn’t normally have whatever that might be just recently I ended up having back surgery and that’s topic for another day but anyways part of the experience I wanted for my boys to have was the experience of snowmobiling and so they actually end up going snowmobiling without me while I was getting surgery on that day but it was one of the things they they loved it was such an affront I’m for them the for the boys just took off and had a ton of fun just snowmobiling up in McCall Idaho where we not far from where we live and it was one things that they continued talking about all the time I love taking trips with the kids and I love going to you know foreign countries and having the experience third-world type of situations every every other year I take my boys down to Mexico and we end up going down there and while we’re there we actually end up working in a medical hospital basically I don’t have any medical experience but while we’re there my kids have had the opportunity of actually working with plastic surgeons in working with general surgeons and eye doctors everything else and helping them in provide medical services to people who normally couldn’t afford and those the type of experiences that they’ve continued to remember forever and ever and to me that’s what it’s all about unfortunate for a lot of us in our marketing we end up going just kind of the opposite direction and our product becomes very price-sensitive becomes very commoditized and I think it’s one of the things you have to really pay attention to when you’re when you’re out and really working on your product so take for example let’s talk with Garrett white while back and his podcast on thing he was talking about was he and his daughter just gone out to dinner they went to a teppanyaki Japanese grill and again he was saying you know the food wasn’t that great but what was exciting was the experience of having the chef prepare the food in front of them and after that they ended up going over to McDonald’s and got a McFlurry and he was just basically talking about no this is ice cream that you know it’s 3 4 or 5 bucks whatever it is but that same ice cream could be an experience and be you sold for a lot more so I want to talk to you a little bit about this in your marketing how that works so take for example as far as ice cream I love ice cream my youngest son Jackson is the dessert King every single night he has to have some side type of dessert and it’s all about the experience so take for example when you get ice cream you can go down to you know McDonald’s and get McFlurry for you know 3 bucks or whatever you go through drive through a Dairy Queen and get a blizzard or you can go to like if you’re in Austin one of my favorite places in Austin and go to is Amy’s ice cream Amy’s ice cream is an establishment of Austin and they’re on 6th Street and it basically there’s always a line no matter when you go and it’s because of the experience and that experience basically goes back to kind of the the whole marble slab type of ice cream where you you go in you pick what type of ice cream you want you pick good type of flavor and fix seed you want add it to that and they chopped it all up and they basically provide it to you in in a scoop basically they throw the throw it up in the air and catch it in the bowl and it’s all the experience and you spend anywhere from eight to ten dollars for this little tiny bowl of ice cream but it’s the experience and because of that Amy’s has become this huge popular place that everyone goes to in Austin to get ice cream the same thing happens in any other type of of product or service you have to think of what is the experience that I can provide for these people one of the things that they would really like or that they would talk about now take for example on high end coaching programs a lot of times it’s the experience it’s people spend a lot of money because they actually at the opportune experiencing being with the Guru and sitting in the masterminds and because of that they’re able to get a much higher price point for that kind of stuff so when you take a look at your own marketing you take a look and see what are the types of things that you can do to add to it to not make it a commodity but to make it much more of an experience it’s been one of things we’ve I’ve looked at here at clickfunnels when we have a one of our large rooms basically where we have our mastermind meetings and everything else we’ve actually toyed around with the idea of having other gurus basically be able to bring their people to click funnels headquarters and use use that conference room as part of the experience for their students and things I’ve seen the same thing to happen with gel polish and genius Network and the experience that happens down there bade Rose talking with him as far as some of his head high-end masterminds one of the things that he’s done is on his PI and masterminds where basically it’s a three-day event the first day they come in and they’re with a coach and not all of them are actually with pedro’s most of more ashley with other coaches they then have the second day where they basically come together and a group environment are taught by a couple of different people who are specialists in different areas but the third day is an experience where they then go out and if they’re if they’re in Vegas they typically go on a big hike and they hike up to one of the top peaks in that area when they’re in San Diego they go out and they go surfing with pedro’s and so it’s that ik type of an experience that Bond’s that person more to the coach or anything that they might be working with this whole idea is one of things I really encourage when you take a look at your marketing one of the types of things that you can do to provide an experience for your buyer so that it’s not just a commodity I’ve seen the same thing as far as Jason flavin has done a lot of things with in the whole Amazon ecommerce situations where they’re bundling different products where they’re no longer able to compare apples to apples Ezra Firestone does the same thing and we’re if take for example if you’re selling a product on Amazon I don’t what’s I’m looking right here I’ve got a clickfunnels water bottle from me so let’s say you’re selling a water bottle and that’s the product well you can get a water bottle four to three before bucks but if all the said you start bundling it with different products and services where a person can no longer compare it to other water bottles it now becomes an experience as far as the things they’re gonna get with that Dollar Shave Club is phenomenal at doing this here again you think you’re gonna go ahead and get Dollar Shave Club and Dollar beard Club work the exact same way and really what you’re buying into it’s the experience you think you’re getting a razor you know for a buck reality is you’re your average car value when you leave there is typically in the neighborhood of 50 to 100 dollars it’s because of all the other experiences that you can have with shaving it’s the shave balm it’s the shave it’s the shaving lotions it’s beard oil it’s beard vitamins to help your beard grow thicker and and stronger it’s all those types of things that become part of an experience even though it’s a product the person’s buying into the experience they’re gonna have with that product so as you take a look at your marketing pay attention the different types of things that you could do and look at what others are doing obviously we all used to spend a ton of time talking about funnel hacking I want you to take a look at who has some of the people leaders in your industry and are they creating the experience for their the consumer or is it just a commodity you’ll find that anybody who’s super successful especially as far as increasing average cart value the way they do that is by creating an experience for the user and sometimes it’s not a physical experience sometimes it’s actual it’s just a mental experience that they’re taking that person through it’s an emotional experience or they have this emotional buying with that product for example my wife loves Lululemon and she has an emotional connection and an experience by literally just walking into the store the way it smells the way it looks it’s it becomes this experience of shopping at Lululemon so realize that and because of that they’re able to charge you know 75 to 120 dollars for leggings that you could get on Amazon or Target for a ton less but again it’s the experience of doing that and she will go on and on about why those leggings are so much better than the ones at any other place and that’s what she prefers but it’s because of the experience and others have now caught on to that and are trying to duplicate what Lululemon has done so just realize even though you’re selling a commodity or a product you can still have an experience and try to find different things that you can do to create an experience and a lot of that’s in your marketing as far as how you’re presenting it and what you’re saying how how what is the picture that you’re painting for them so with all that again I appreciate so much all the people who listened to this podcast I would love if you wouldn’t mind going out to iTunes and giving us a Dave tells us about how somebody who had sent a handwritten letter and miniature copies of Dave’s favorite book no bigger than his thumb. This gift meant a lot to him personally and although no favors were reciprocated, he gained a lot of respect for this man. Dave then contrasts this to someone else who gave Russel a somewhat thoughtful gift and shows up the next day expecting to be able to borrow some of Russel’s time. Although Russel pulled himself away from his work for this guy, their relationship ended there as he didn’t see any reason to associate with someone who would have such an entitled persona.

that you have as far as idea is to make that happen yeah all right so one of my biggest ways obviously it goes without saying that spamming and but there is a kind of a cool way and I call it attraction marketing and and it’s a little bit more intensive been turning on a facebook ad but this is a legit way to do it so the first thing that you should do is get your personal Facebook profile kind of look into little business II you mean I know you’re not really supposed to use it for business but put a nice cover photo up there you know make sure your page is linked in your bio and you know just get it looking not like you’re gonna show like 8000 pictures of your cat or something all right get it looking and make sure your avatar is your face like not a cat not a dog not a cartoon like your face and then what you’re gonna do is you’re gonna go into Facebook groups but before you do that you’re gonna post on your timeline something about your webinar or your funnel or whatever you know what I mean like post something and I call this wall baked and this is like bait it’s just sitting on your personal timeline where you have complete free reign and then all you need to do is go into Facebook groups do not post just answer questions your main goal is to just answer questions and be as helpful as you can know mal-intent know promo no spam usually what happens is if you go and help a hundred people twenty or thirty of them are gonna go click on your profile and there’s your wall bait sitting right there I love that because that’s what that’s what they do your latest post right and don’t make it a weird selfie if you like make it some make it the entrance to your funnel that’s a cool idea I love wall bait or good that term I coined that that’s now trademarked wall bait so that’s like my big way like if you need to fill up a webinar need to get 20 30 people on it just help people and then help people who would probably like your webinar and put the webinar on your profile so that’s one way the second way is to put it as the signature in your email ID and your email like put a little tagline and be like hey do you want to know how to whatever you know and then put a link there so that’s another way the third ways to get on podcasts right this yes so start looking for podcasts lots of podcasters need interviewees like it’s a constant need so find podcasts where your target audience lives and make sure that you have a really easy link because it’s all audio so don’t be like go to Julie’s giant com keyword groups key word you know make it easy so that you can say it and then people can go to that link I think that’s one of the main things I obviously those guys are listening for knock already you know I have a lot of people on I always give them at the end the key here any time you’re on a podcast obviously you got to provide a massive amount of value before you start doing any self promotion or anything like that yeah but most hosts are gonna be very generous with you as far as if you just provided 20 minutes of value to their audience you have no problem saying hey you know what where could they find you where can they reach out to you exactly and keep that super super simple I guess some people or it is this huge long thing I’m like you have to understand people are either driving they’re exercising yeah they’re not gonna remember that yeah make special links for you know I was on yo fire and he was like you you know make a link that’s like your domain slash fire yeah right so do you do the same thing if you’re on Dave’s you know podcast it’s like you know Julie’s story and calm slash funnel hacker something like that yeah GLD does a great job anytime you listen to his his links always end in fire fire yeah so so podcasts are great way email signature you know it’s you have to like it’s more slow going if you have no ad budget it’s just more slow going obviously you can do things like Pinterest we had an episode on Pinterest write pinterest with blogs which lead into your funnel you can do that you can also do guest posting on other people’s sites where there’s already an audience that’s quite Ian’s guest has a blog yeah so like offering to guest post on you know somebody else’s blog where they will provide you with you know on a link and so then you can add the link to your funnel that way so obviously like traditional PR publicity can get tons of traffic like if you get a good media piece you can get a lot of traffic that way and then JV partners this is a huge one like three one hundred I’m huge believer in that yeah so we just actually I mean this is important when I favor talkin tears dream 100 it was really fun we had CRISPR boss who is commenting on a couple of my facebook lives has followed Russell he was super kind the other day and sent me a very very genuine gift I’d done a facebook live right around Christmastime about one of my favorite Christmas carols I heard the bells on Christmas Day and so my post was basically God is not dead nor doth he sleep which came from the Carroll and he actually had written a handwritten note sent me this a little tiny travel treasure chest where he opened it up and inside were two little tiny books about the size of my thumb which were picture books about to Carol and they’d bookmark that piece there as far as God is not dead nor doth he sleep and then today I walked in the office and Russell loves getting presents so if you want to get on Russell’s list send great presents to the office but it’s really cool because he sent a very personal thing to Russell as you know Russell’s him remember the Church of Jesus Christ Latter day Saints were Mormons and the first prophet was Joseph Smith and he is his brother Hyrum were both martyred and basically what happened was there was a little bronze I don’t what is three inches so like that little tiny thing but it was the thought that he put behind it and it was really cool because Chris Berg basically had taken a picture the one that he had on his desk and that was on the back of the letter and then he had enclosed that in his gift to Russell again not asking for anything it was just totally thank you so much I’ve gotten all this value from the content you’re you’re providing and my way of saying thank you to you was just by sending this and so it’s kind of cool Julian era both there as Russell opening it and it was it was touching to Russell because he put so much thought into it on the flip side we had someone who is dying to spend once an hour worth of Russell’s time wants him to film a video wants to write the foreword of his book gave a send a gift to the Austin then just shows up and like it doesn’t work that way that’s the wrong way to do it that’s called a bribe exactly yeah so like the dream 100 is like building those strategic relationships because at some point there may be a situation where you can there’s a win-win for both of you and then you can leverage their audience you know but it’s gotta be like you can’t be weird about it this is the thing it’s it’s about being thoughtful and giving value upfront at first and so one you know David on that I want to cut you off there but then the whole idea is what Julie just said I can’t stress that enough it is being thoughtful and giving value so often everyone it’s what’s in it for me what’s in it for me what’s in it for me and that especially if you don’t have money right now to spend on a huge ad budget then what you have is time right right and so make sure that that time is valuable time for you as well as for whoever you’re reaching out to exactly and you know people can smell genuinely I want to build a relationship versus I just want something from you but you know Dana Derek’s who wrote the dream 100 book he’s basically said like one dream 100 person who couldn’t who could give me a shout out is worth thousands and thousands of dollars in ad and ad money I totally agree with that yeah so there’s a couple other things you can do SEO is still something you can do we were talking about that just the other day with aural Adams here in the office yeah so you know in order to use SEO again organic traffic your content has to be it has to be like 10,000 words amazing keyword rich it’s even better if you can get on an authority domain like entrepreneur inks Forbes like that you know so that it can rank up and if you can get a link on there into your funnel you know you’ve got just free traffic all the live long day so let’s kind of talk a little more about thanks I think this is something a lot of you guys are listening could do when we’re saying keyword rich there’s a difference between keyword rich versus keyword stuffing yes so if you don’t mind kind of define the difference there in what we’re talking about yeah so Google’s release now Google used to not be smart and gone were the days you know where you could like let’s say you wanted to write an article on funnels you just write sales funnels like 8 million times right that’s not that doesn’t work anymore you do want your keyword in some strategic places you want it in the title you want it in the permalink so like the link that comes on the end you want to in your meta description of the post and you want it in an h1 tag inside the post itself and you also want it one or two times in the content ideally hyperlinked as well but that’s about it the rest of the time you need to take that keyword and think of all the other ways that you might say that keyword is that the LSI we were talking about LSI yeah latent semantic index yeah and and so you would think of other ways like maybe you would use pipeline or sales funnel versus funnel or sales pipeline or maybe you would say you know lead generation or something like that like because Google wants to see all the words that you would say like a human would say not like a machine and then make sure all of your photos and images and everything on the page are also have keywords or those LSI words that are like like that I think that’s the part a lot of people forget like images you get a lot of it’s crazy how many people click on images how many people I mean those images actually is a great place to make sure you have those keywords yeah in Google Image Search you know people search for images on Google yeah and then it leads them perfect idea yeah try to get on as authoritative as a domain as possible and you know good content will get links if you can get it on a big site like entrepreneur you don’t really need to worry about it like people will just link into it if you’re on a dinky little site that’s your site you may have to work a little harder to get some links awesome yeah any other ideas you can think of off top your head yeah Instagram Instagram is another one you get one link on Instagram but if you can get 10,000 followers you also get the swipe up feature on Instagram stories it’s again it’s about delivering content that the platform and the people on that platform naturally like you can’t try to like go into Instagram and like put weird things that instagramers don’t like you know leverage whatever’s on that platform and try to be as native to the plot as possible and in lab you can use the biolink as the entry point to your funnel I think it’s great I know shoutouts to things you can buy there also shout outs you can trade so you can actually go out to other peoples pages who have similar type of followers it’s gonna be really hard if you have 500 followers to go to a person with 50,000 right but if you’ve got 500 followers you can reach out to someone else and do a shout out for them and they’ll do the shout out for you as well is especially if it’s in the same type of niche or industry the drill yeah absolutely and you know YouTube is a whole other channel that you can get traffic from this is very SEO driven so you’re looking to create videos with keywords that people are searching for on YouTube really you know keyword rich descriptions tags and link into your funnel LinkedIn I’ve not cracked the Lincoln code but I’ve heard that it’s like any social media platform it’s about being native to the platform and really delivering the kind of content that that platform wants and likes I love that YouTube born things we use is two modal okay where you kind of go in each and look to see what what are some of the if you find another video that’s getting a lot of traffic you can basically if yours in TubeMogul or there’s other ones that do the same type thing where it’ll literally tell you the keywords that are in there what people are searching for and then you can create a video similar to that one usually obvious something a little bit better or something like that that you get that type of stuff but that’s or even reduce we’re seeing a lot of reviews on YouTube they’re getting a lot of traffic yes yep so you know obviously Facebook we talked about we talked about doing the wall bait on your personal profile Facebook lives are still really great ways to get organic reach so you know all of this takes time but if you don’t have money like you said you probably have time you know and so those are the those are the primary ways that I built traffic you know gotten traffic organically well as always we’d love having Giuliana’s been welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward welcome back everybody this is gonna be kind of a weird podcast from me this is a topic that you’re gonna find out a little more personally about me than I do not want to divulge a lot of my own personal stuff so this is gonna be a little different than some of the other podcasts but so hold on we’re gonna see if that can pull this together make some sense of this and have it actually help you in your marketing so what I want to talk to you about is this whole concept about how bad does it have to get and what I mean by that is all of us have our own level you know pain tolerances or the kind of threshold as far as before we reach out for help and what I want to talk to you about is something that happened to me personally here over the last three months I’ve worked with Terry Williams as a as a coach for a long time and one of the things she was telling me when we first started coaching is Dave you gotta get you got to let people know more about you people want to connect more personally with you and I just haven’t been wanted typically I just don’t think I’m that great I don’t think people really care much about it I haven’t spent much time really talking about myself or things of that nature and so I’m I told her I would I would try doing more of that and so that’s kind of what this podcast is about but it I promise you also it will have meaning to you in your own personal life so back in October of 2017 I started realizing that I was my my legs were we’re kind of getting numb at times and and my back was hurt and I was just I just thought you know I’ve just got too much going on I don’t have time to deal with this so I was out at launch con and I went from launch con 2 I’m living was on the road for almost seven weeks non-stop and what happened is my back kept getting worse and worse and worse and worse to the point where at our partner meeting we had in early December I was running across the crosswalk erm gimping across the crosswalk and basically got to the other side and my legs collapse like what the heck is going on with this thing so I then started seeing chiropractors and acupuncturist and did copy did all sorts of massage and everything thinking I’ve got to find some way of dealing with my back and it got so bad to the point where yeah towards the end of right around Christmastime I literally I I was in a van experiencing drop foot were my my right foot I couldn’t I couldn’t pull my right foot up and I’m like okay this has gotten to the point where it’s bad enough I really need to go and see a doctor on this kind of stuff so I ended up with physical therapy for a couple weeks that didn’t work and the physical therapist finally gave me a referral to the the doc and I wouldn’t see this doctor and right away he basically said he didn’t even talk to me said what’s going on with this drop foot thing and I’m like I it’s just I don’t know it’s it’s just I’ve pulled a muscle my back probably or I got a disc out or I don’t know I didn’t I’m not talking here doc won’t figure this thing out because well let me tell you if you don’t get this thing fixed basically what the next thing that happens is you’re gonna lose function and control your bowels and your bladder and everything else I’m like what he goes yeah you’ve the you shouldn’t have waited this long to get this thing fixed I’m like listen doc I really don’t want to go under the knife I don’t want to have back surgery what other options do I have it goes right now Dave you don’t have any and it goes you need to go in for MRI tomorrow so I went in for an MRI calls that night goes list I need to go in and for another MRI the following day because we saw something and there we really were kind of concerned about and I’m like what is going on so I went for the second MRI and then he met me right afterwards and said listen did the reason I had to go in for a second MRI is the first one we thought we we thought there was a tumor in your spinal cord there wasn’t which were grateful for but you need to have surgery he says have you had anything to eat today and I said like I’ve had something to drink and things and he goes well because you’ve already ate something drink you can’t get surgery today I’m like doc are you kidding me and I said listen I’ve got a trip with my family planned up to McCall we’re going snowboarding and snowmobiles everything else I said I’d like to do this and then my son’s getting married on in January on the 13th I said kind of push this off till after that he goes no you don’t understand how serious this is and it gave these all these technical terms and like bottom line they said you don’t have a choice you have to have surgery my doc there’s got to be ways so I started pushing things off and he got to the point where he almost surgeons can yell him he said listen you literally do not have a choice you’ve you’ve pushed this off so hard and so long and because of that you’re in a situation where you’ve eliminated all your other options besides surgery and I said so what’s going on so basically over years of just being super active in your lumbar vertebrae l2 and l3 you basically have your spinal cord your your vertebrae are actually have created bone spurs and are growing into your spinal cord and decreasing the space for your spinal cord to move that’s why you’ve got the sciatica and your drop foot and it’s really bad I’m like okay so you finally convinced me so we go up to McCall and while we’re at McCall I am literally just laid out flat couldn’t do hardly anything I’m totally frustrated angry about this thing going – this is ridiculous where I put the mounds of my family I want to spend time time with them creating experiences and doing that kind of stuff and it just wasn’t gonna happen so what end up happening was I ended up going family staying up there my wife took me down the fourth day of the verification up there went down for surgery and ended up having surgery and where they kind of basically clean cleaned up to two of my vertebrae and hold my back I really hate the idea as far as the whole back surgery thing but it again I didn’t have a choice which unfortunately right now I I’m walking around great it’s a I’m tomorrow’s gonna be one week after the surgery and it’s been amazing my reason to mention this whole thing is to bring to the point as far as how bad does have to get before you ask for help for me I just again I just thought I figured all out of my own and make it work but I got to the point where I literally there was no other way but I had to have surgery and I think as as an entrepreneur especially as a solopreneur I’ve done this myself where you’re all by yourself and you’re just dealing with all the you’re doing every single thing you’re wearing all the hats and you’re getting to the point where you’re frustrated it’s not working exactly how you think of it you don’t want to quit and you feel like just keep pushing forward something will change and I just want to let you know that you know there is nothing wrong for reaching out for help and I think there’s a fortunately inside of our clickfunnels community there’s a ton of ways of getting help we have the Facebook page if you’re not on our Facebook page please join our Facebook page and and just understand that you can ask questions from other people who are already doing things and get help that way another thing is the whole idea as far as a mastermind I’m a huge huge believer in a mastermind if you haven’t read napoleon hill’s book three thinking Grow Rich it’s an absolute must for every entrepreneur and that is the whole idea as far as understanding the value of a mastermind and you don’t have to spend twenty five thousand dollars to join a high-end mastermind you literally can create your own mastermind I remember when I first got started I’d end up creating a mastermind with myself my brother and buddy of ours Travis Tolstoy and the three of us would mastermind every single week we basically meet together for lunch and each would take turns talking about what’s working in our business what’s not working in our business what types of things and ideas and even though it was just the three of us I was amazed at the impact that of just having someone else’s view into my world and things that they were doing in their world and how it helped me it gave me account ability it gave me a sounding board I basically sable said this is what I’m doing I do you think this worked America sometimes they had no idea but just my verbalizing that to them made a ton of sense it just seemed to help and work I remember one of my very first projects with in the internet marketing space back in 2008-2009 was the legendary marketers and I’ll tell you more of the details about that some other time but it was I remember I basically went around the countryside filming all ten of the most successful entrepreneur internet marketers at that time it was kind of a cribs MTV style type of thing for these internet marketers and I remember when I was me with Rick Raddatz who at the time was had instant teleseminar and was just kind of crushing it with Enoch Mendoza Armand Morin and just done a ton of stuff he had a whole bunch of success and he had ended up talking about the whole value of a mastermind he says you know Dave I’ve actually created masterminds here in my local community with some of super successful people who are aren’t internet marketers there are outside other businesses and he said for me I was really nervous at first that I didn’t have anything to provide for them but the value I brought to the table is actually just bringing others in and he said you know because of that I was able to connect with a lot of these guys and they became great friends and in addition to that it helped elevate my own game and so I’d highly recommend that if you are not involved in a mastermind you need to get involved in one you need to either start one or join one and there’s benefits from doing both if you don’t have any money and you feel like gosh I don’t have any provide then start your own locally just find people and bring them in and it doesn’t need to be as you know structured organized as much as it needs to be set on an accountability standpoint and where you you meet on a regular basis if you want to join a mastermind there’s a ton of different masterminds out there there’s coaching programs and find out what is that what area do you need the most help in this year and focus in on that one need and join a mastermind for or a coaching program for that realize that there’s so many things out there as entrepreneur these days that provides value to you I should be listening to other types of podcast marketing secrets Russells I highly recommend if you’re not listening to that there’s a ton of other ones that you can find depending on the niche and the industry that you’re in and realize that the whole idea here is don’t wait till it gets so bad that you literally have to have surgery in your business where you have to cut things off and and go to something super drastic realize that there’s a ton of things that you can do right now to have an impact in your business over the for 2018 that will help your business double triple quadruple even 10x your business if you will just reach out for help don’t be afraid to reach out don’t be afraid to go get help it’s not a sign of weakness I know as a as an entrepreneur we all especially as a solopreneur you just just you first getting started you want to where everything it’s kind of a whole control freak thing I’ve been there I know how that is and I’ve actually was funny I was talking with Melanie just yesterday we’ve got James real here in our office who’s helping us systematize a whole bunch of things and Melanie Russell’s a system basically I don’t think she’s she she’s a control freak and that’s why she does a great job at what she does but she came to my office hey you’re so proud of me I’ve I’ve delegated two things today to other people to let them run with it and sometimes you just have to do that I again as an entrepreneur one of the most important things is you got to make that first hire so maybe that’s where you’re at in your business and the first way of making sure that doesn’t get so bad that you have to have surgery is to go out and get that first hire find something that will free you up if you’re doing $10 an hour type of stuff pay someone else to do that that is one very first things I realized in my own business that helped me do a ton and I’m still trying to do more and more of that this year is to where an outsourcing as much as I possibly can steal our meat ooh focus in on my unique set of skills that helps me in my opportunities here with clickfunnels to really grow and build and help us double click funnels this year so realize every single one of us no matter where you’re at in your business there’s certain things that you can do another great podcast I recommend is Alex sharpens momentum again as far as the whole idea as far as an entrepreneur there’s a ton of them out there but realize go out and get help this year make it this year is your year where you can make the massive changes so that doesn’t have to get so bad that you live about to get surgery or a file for bankruptcy or do something else like that just because you were just set to control freak that you didn’t want to reach out and let others help you so many other people are out there and again you’ll find as you have more success in your own life one of the things you’re going to do is to contribute and to give back and if your that’s the point you’re at help others who are wanting to become like you so realize as an entrepreneur it’s the greatest thing in the world to be able to provide value to others and your product and your service and also as you hire other people you’re providing opportunities to them I’m a huge believer in in capitalism and the whole idea as far as small businesses really what ends up ruling and Instagram influencer coming all the way to you from New Zealand welcome Josh Ryan hey happy to be here I’m so excited to have you this is uh I appreciate you being flexible time wise and everything else I know it’s uh I don’t know if it’s early over where you’re at or it’s late what um it’s just going past midday so but it’s news day advocates so good deal all right look I just gotta dive right into this this is one of those topics that people are always wondering about as far as this whole influencer marketing type of stuff in Instagram and I was looking at some of the stuff you’ve gotten over there on Club preneur and office you got 18 year old success story here is crushing it using click funnels and using Instagram you’re out there basically building other people’s audiences you’re doing all sorts of crazy stuff so tell people kind a little bit more about you what you’re doing and what type of value and things they should be looking as far as diving right into Instagram then we’ll dive into some of the stuff you’re teaching yes right um so I found what I’m doing now is I’m mostly just doing like influencer marketing so I got a whole pile of followers in a specific niche and then brand sort of pay and I’ll promote this stuff and they’re not gonna get more sales in there and then also doing that client on Instagram so helping him basically do the same thing now I’ve done a whole bunch of things on Instagram but I feel like the other main – now I guess I had that sort of shiny object syndrome winter term anything like that that really had me back but now sort of yeah focused on a couple things and yeah I guess for Instagram one of the things that are pretty lucky was getting in reasonably early and so what it started at Instagram I’m about just over two years ago I think I’d be probably coming up three years ago now so soon as that fifteen sixteen year olds sick what makes you get sad outright in the Instagram what are you traded down well I’m sort of always had that a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit and me I had sort of had my first business when I was nine a coke vending machine and to make money at the Main Street which is pretty cool the net and that was like pesavum cameltoe so I was pretty stoked with it but then we moved and petty little bit but then a few years later I sort of I’ve seen a few things online like different network marketing things and stuff like that and um wanted to do something and I just started creating a few different instagrams they all failed horribly and being the highest I found I just created one as I could dream board because the everyone talking about this whole dream bought them and I sort of like posted cool cars quotes in there and then I reached out to someone with a bunch of followers and I asked them for a shout-out cuz I thought like it would just all you know free and then a lot harder it’ll be yeah sure that’ll be 60 bucks and I was that a serious sir and I saw these people were making this money and then I realize it was like a legit business there and just win for it I guess I guess so right now is you taking a look at some of the stuff that you you’re doing for yourself I know you still have over a million people following you on ah is it millionaire got dreams I would what is yes there’s some a month I’ve got a bunch of accounts that’s like 411,000 I think at the moment and I’ve got like four other three or four three three other like pages over a hundred thousand and then a couple of smaller ones like favorite from there in there yeah so is that combined following just over a million last time I checked perfect alright so tell me this one of the things people are always asking about so you get all these followers one of the biggest things these days is engagement how do you actually get engagement that made followers um coming to a cheating them to do something of well we take a look at it what do you classify his engagement on Instagram um I mean generally I would say engagement is just likes followers I mean likes comments exceed honor but I think the more one Tunisia that’s five making money and having an impact it’s actually how many people gonna do stuff when you post that how many people actually gonna go out there and buy that book or download that thing you promote or join your Facebook group or whatever I think that’s probably the more important one for people to look at as far as making money goes agree with you know that’s I don’t for us it was kind of fascinating I really learned a lot more about this will influence or mark anything we did the expert secrets book launched back in April and May and I was fascinated to find out and then also when we did the viral video launch in September did the same type of thing the whole impact spars as Instagram is you approach Instagram different than you approach Facebook and objectivity approach emails other things when you’re trying to get the kind of engagement what is some of the things that you’re doing on your posts today’s to get that type of engagement on Instagram and instagrams an algorithm sort of like Facebook so anything was like a call to action doesn’t really well so like for example I know DoubleTap of and then have like a result so DoubleTap f28 attention video busier yet and then encouraging people to actually double tap which is alike it is going to get a lot more lights and then when it gets more likes it sort of snowballs and Instagram sees it was like higher value content and so they’re gonna push it out to more people anything with that you can even put in the caption so you can put a cool quote and then tag someone this relates to or just anything with you aren’t like sort of with a call to action on it would generally do pretty well perfect so just quality call as well so I know that as one of the main things that we run across is what you’re just referred to there and as off see people aren’t going to Instagram just to get bonbarb a whole bunch of call to actions they’re looking for quality content they’re looking types of things that you can actually they go through pretty quick and yet the way least for myself or certain people I follow all the time I looked through them dirt I look through their stories let’s see what the posts are and I think this that type of engagement is a little more unique than Facebook and as your is your building that type of an audience Josh what are some of the things that you’ve done to really connect well with your audience um I guess I should have done a few but I used to do quite a few Instagram stories I haven’t done that so much now but I think that’s a really powerful way to really connect with your audience and might not necessarily increase your lights or whatever but the other engagement of people that are actually gonna you know join a movement or um you know yeah join your Facebook etc definitely increases when you start having that personal touch cuz my pages I’ve built on pages based around me they’ve been around that quite stuff like that starting again I probably would try to build one around me because it’s just so much more like powerful and packed for um and but I mean I’m gonna start doing that so imputing at my own personal brand say sure that yeah I think Instagram stories are really awesome because there’s a less professional way to get in front of your audience and for them to connect with who you are and get to know you about better and rather than just one of these professionally shot images or like Photoshop quotes and stuff like that I appreciate that and know what we were kind of going through one of things kind of came up and why one channel of it podcast is we’re kind of go through our clickfunnels user group on Facebook and said you know who are supporting some of the top post of the end of the year type of thing and obviously your post was one of those things and I want to kind of talk a little bit about it the stuff that you’re using Instagram for and really helping primarily as far as I understand the people who listen to our this podcast are a lot of people who are in our funnel hacking community that people who are there build my own products or services they’ve got a lot of things going on and one of the things everyone always asked me about is can you really use Instagram to sell and I wanted to find if you might kind of touch on that topic how do you actually sell using Instagram I feel that I don’t necessarily do a lot of direct selling on Instagram so I reckon more of Instagram is about giving value and then pushing people to like some sort of free resource and then from via you sort of seller that’s what I use social media for in general really I don’t necessarily promote like a 500 dollar course right on Instagram I’ll promote a free ebook free video series and a webinar etc because Instagram like uni a lot of traffic but it’s not super targeted like am i guess in the clip funnel scoop you guys could post about a new thing and everyone in there is that super targeted using click funnels you might be able to sell it straight off the bat sort of back I feel on Instagram it’s more over you need more like a warming up process I guess at least you have exactly what I wanted to talk about so tell me what for our listeners give them some ID as far as how what would you do to warm up your audience and then take them to something where they could then OMSI get a bit of a file and sell from there um yeah I think ebooks and video series stuff like that work pretty well but I think another thing is actually taking people to Facebook cuz and taking people to a Facebook group or something like that because I know lots of people have like Facebook groups but if you use Instagram to building audience and then take it to face to a laughing group as a community I feel as Facebook is a much more personal connection so bringing people cross to bear can actually be another very very good way to do things like when I’m promoting that funnel I will give a like the way it’s free ebook and down at the bottom of their ebook there’s active Adam will I can join the group and in is there more over much more of a personal I guess connection and I feel people it’s much easier to sell if you build a big audience on industry Amin and take it to Facebook group I don’t know that’s what I’ve had to succeed for 3 simply and there’s pretty powerful stuff so basically your if I hear your correctly then you’ve got your audience on Instagram and then one of your posts on Instagram will be for them basically get access to a free ebook they then have a link there and your bio is that where you put in the link where they go to the bio you think that Blake takes them over to a funnel where they then have on their funnel is access to that ebook where they can opt in for that and then the ebook you in the e-book is that where you’re actually sending them to the Facebook page or are you doing that on the funnel itself um no show in the e-book this I like at the bottom of the ebook I have a link across to the Facebook group so not like it’s not like all over it but I at the bottom for people that want more I’ll simply put it there alright so now what now they’re in the Facebook group what types of Facebook give me an example some of the groups and stuff be able to to join by going through an e-book um so my lunch is that the clear preneur so it’s not necessarily specific on I hope I think if it’s more just one where I can just post about different things that I learned and different things that actually love to help people or different things that I was saying they’re not good and stuff like they’re on my on my group that’s what I’m talking about like it’s not a specific like routine I guess but yeah just as much value as I can put out on Facebook posts and so on and there and it just and then you can build up engagement and then when you do have something to promote you can put it in there and get a bunch of traction and a bunch of sales I love that that I don’t think it’s a great idea I think I’ve seen for ourselves clickfunnels and even on Russell’s pages and things we’re using social media for that exact same reason that it’s just driving people to other other posts other places where they consume additional content and I think it’s worked out real well for us I know obviously it’s doing extremely well for you so you also have you’ve created down agency where you’re out doing this for other people is that correct yeah so how that was your agency working um that isn’t that was sort of like the structure Oh like has a gun I know you got yourself I think you got Twitter partners is that right um well yeah so I’m like the Hat right owner but I do have two people that sort of work for me out of it like I guess subcontractors sort of thing okay yeah I’ve only really sort of relaunched it this year but I was doing there and I was doing on my clickfunnels out doing pretty well and sort of like June July and being only just got super busy it was Toronto because I finished school end of last year and I sort of took a bit of a step back on my business stuff for a bit it was not a good idea I should have just done it but um anyway and yeah pushing it again now and so this year so far has been crazy and yeah trying to scale that up a lot this year well I think that’s awesome ah me I could get I’m excited for your success it’s always fun I’ve got a son who’s your age and it’s always fun basically talk – to people who are out there just bustin especially as far as this lot entrepreneurial exciting environment that we live in right now so again congratulations on your funnel hacker radio podcast I believe we’re going through three zaps today yeah well we’re gonna talk about just how awesome zapier is with clickfunnels and all the cool stuff that you can do with it sweet alright so a little background here first of all understand I get asked all the time how do I actually integrate with clickfunnels I get companies coming to me saying hey I wanna do this or do this so what we’ve basically done is we’ve created an integration with zapier and zapier has been set up to if you’re not familiar dual talked a little bit about it but a little background first of all to understand is zapier now has over a thousand different apps that you can connect to click photos happens to be one of the top 10 fastest-growing apps and we’re super excited about that so they did a huge post talked it all about that and now what we’re gonna do is show you exactly how zapier works for those of you guys who are using clickfunnels so for those who are gonna be listening this as a podcast some of this you’ll actually see on will try to explain as much as we can as we’re going through this but I highly recommend that you also go ahead and take a look at funnel knocker radio or I’m sorry funnel hacker TV where the video will be posted there as well so with all that said let’s dive right into this welcome again Julie’s story thanks so much you know thank you I’m so excited so zapier is one of those softwares that when I discovered it was just like lightbulb moment after light bulb moment like I can automate my whole life so I thought it would be the best thing to do would be if I could just share my screen and then we can talk about like the three basic ways that clickfunnels works with zapier right now and then like you’ll start to feel the possibilities just like grow and grow and grow so I’m gonna share my screen I think I can do that let me do it cool all right guys please there’s usually like about a 30-second delay or whatever on live so they probably don’t see it yet but this is the inside of zapier this is like what the inside of my zapier account looks like now when you go to zapier comm I just want to pull up what that looks like here it’s going to give you all kinds of ideas and you might be like oh my gosh I have no idea what to do and the bottom line with zapier is it talks it’s like a talking app it helps two different software’s that wouldn’t normally connect to one another talk to one another in exchange information and that’s what that beer does and that is one of the coolest things about it so there are three things that zapier can do with clickfunnels right now and i want to go through each one step by step and Dave please completely interrupt me if you have a question or you think of something that we want to like go on a rabbit trail I will for sure so three things clickfunnels you can do when there’s a new contact in your funnel when there’s a new purchase in your funnel or if there’s a new failed purchase these are the three things that you can track and you can move that information from cliff into another program so if you guys are in the comments what are the programs that you’re using now besides clickfunnels in terms of I’m talking things like schedulers like your acuity calendar or maybe you’re using spreadsheets or you’re using some sort of like shipping and fulfillment activecampaign is an email service provider maybe you’re using Trello like Russell’s totally geeking out on Trello right now what are the other apps you’re using put them down in the comments below so you can see because chances are there is a connection between that app that you love or that you’re using in your business and click files all right Dave so I’m seeing here we’ve got like MailChimp Google Docs activecampaign Gmail awesome okay great so the first thing I want to talk about is for any of you guys how many of you are doing lead generation with clickfunnels right you want to know when a lead comes in ok we all know that when a lead comes in follow-up is absolutely key so this is how you would set up the Zap in zapier so that’s the most important thing to know is that you have to go to zapier comm and sign up for an account and then you can hook up your clickfunnels account so once you’re in zapier right here you’re gonna click this big orange button that says make a zap that’ll be your first step once you’ve confirmed your account so you click make a zap and then you end up on this screen which I just was there before so in the choose a trigger you’re gonna choose you’re gonna type in click funnels and you’ll get click funnels now if you’ve never hooked up click funnels before the first time you have to like connect it and then it’s fine so we’re gonna choose make a contact I’m just looking here the question is make sure nobody has any questions ok awesome new contact hit save & continue’ and then it’s going to ask you to connect your account if you’ve never done so before so I’m gonna I’ve already done it so I’m just gonna hit save and continue the next thing it’s going to ask is what funnel do you want to look for that contact information in all right so we’re gonna choose I’m gonna just choose one of the funnels where I know I have contacts in if you have a lot of funnels like Russell who has like 8 bajillion it may want to use the search and go ahead and look for the funnel that you want then then then the next question it’s gonna ask is well what funnel step so for all of you guys doing lead generation you want to do the first step in your funnel most likely that’s where the lead gen is gonna happen right so you’re gonna click on click funnels door here and you’re gonna pick the step where that opt-in form is that’s really important make sure you pick the step of the funnel where the opt-in form is is and then hit continue now what its gonna do is it’s gonna try to do a test and if this is a brand new funnel and you’ve never had a lead come in it’s not really gonna be able to do the test doesn’t mean the Zap isn’t gonna work but just be aware sometimes it’s helpful if you have a test contact in there so it’ll be like test was successful okay now you’ll hit continue and now what do you want to do with that contact there’s all kinds of things you can do with new leads so i’m just looking here how many of you would love to be able to call your lead the minute they come through your form okay I want to do that for sure that’s a must right so there’s some cool like built-in apps where you could literally just send a text message to yourself that says you just got a contact you can pull their fields in and you can call them on the phone just like that all right so that’s really cool so you can use the built-in zapier app for SMS and literally just give them phone this is also great if you’re doing lead gen for local businesses and your local business is like you’re doing Facebook Ads for them and and you’re getting leads for them and they’re not following up with their leads send the text here to your client like harass them if they need you know they need to follow up the other thing you could do is you can add it to slack I don’t know how many of you use slack or Trello but what we do is when a new contact comes in we actually put it in Trello and we go to Trello and we create a card in Trello if you guys know Trello we create a and Trello so that it actually automates a checklist and it tells the the VA what to do with that lead all right so I’m gonna hit you yeah so you hit create card you can do all kinds of crazy things with Trello hit save and continue connect your Trello account and then you set up the template what board you want what list you want and what you want the Trello card to actually say so if I pop over here to my Trello and I look at my my application process for one of my courses if an application comes in zapier will automatically put a card on the incoming application input in the information and then it gives me a checklist of what to do like what do I do with this application do I accept them do I reject them and I put them on a waitlist all just from clickfunnels killer yeah so that’s super fun all right let me just see if there’s any questions so that’s what you do that’s what you do with contacts so right you want to add them to a board now how many of you would love to recover lost payments I want a great never lost game it’s for sure yeah yeah so if you have a failed purchase right so let’s go back here and let’s go to the other the other option which is a new failed purchase all right so you’re again I’m gonna connect your clickfunnels account just once and go into your zap let me just give clickfunnels a call here and I’m gonna just go to a funnel where I know there’s a failed payment somewhere go to the order form and what I’m gonna do here is I’m gonna do I want to make a two step zap I’m gonna alert my VA that there’s been a failed payment and I’m also gonna create a draft in my gmail account so that she can send an email all right okay so I’m gonna first choose slack and I’m gonna send a message into my slack Channel and I’m going to show you my slack here I have a channel called influx and basically every time there’s activity in my funnel any funnel this channel records it so that people my admin my team can come they can look at what’s been purchased there’s instructions on what to do if there’s special things to do and they can be added to Trello to Facebook groups all kinds of things you can see this is all the activity in my funnels this week and this is an ongoing list of what to do so that’s the first thing I do is I send a message into slack okay so I’m gonna go over I’m gonna actually go to the dashboard and show you what one of these looks like so let’s see here let’s go to this one no that was not doing it this one is doing it right here okay so basically this is a two step and this is when there’s a purchase we’re creating a user and sending that information to slack so if there was a failed purchase what you could do is you could create a draft in an email in Gmail so that the VA all they have to do is they see the alert and slack they go to the Gmail they click on draft and they send the message that says hey you need to update your payment information alright so I want to does anybody have any questions about about how’s like the concept of how zapier works you you don’t have the questions pulled up right now do you I don’t I get those real quick here though okay alright guys so let’s set up a failed purchase we’re gonna do it step by step we’re gonna start with clickfunnels we’re gonna do failed purchase we’re gonna go into a funnel where I know there’s failed purchase here and we’re – the order form remember you have to go to the right funnel step where purchases are being made and it’s gonna look and it’s gonna it’s gonna say test successful and now what we’re gonna do is we’re going to create a two step zap the first thing we’re going to do is we’re going to create a girafft in my gmail account so I’m going to click Gmail then I’m going to create draft you could actually send the message if you want but then you can’t really customize it and sometimes I like to customize it so I’m gonna hit create draft and I’m gonna pick my gmail account that I want to send it from if you’ve never hooked that up it’ll ask you to connect your gmail account and now it’s gonna ask you to set up the email so this is how you do it you’re gonna click this little menu bar right here and you’re gonna find the contacts first name or email or whatever it is you want and in the case of setting up a draft you really need the email to be the first thing so that’s email if you want to see see anybody and then put who it’s from so you’re gonna use actually you can just type right in here just type your actual email address because it’s going to come from you and then make a subject line oops looks like your card needs updating okay and now you’re going to put your actual email hey there we just tried to charge your card but the payment didn’t go through you know please update your card blah blah blah blah you can actually also put it as a separate label in your inbox and you can do an attachment and then hit continue now once you’ve created it it’s going to show you exactly what the from name is who it’s to the subject line and what and you know what you said and then it’s gonna send a test now once it’s done you’ll see that the test worked and then you can finish and you can name your zap so this would be failed purchases make draft in Gmail for to send now if I wanted to I could add the second step over here on the left and I can add a second step which sends a message into a channel okay that alerts them that there’s been a failed payment and to go send that email all right cool all right a bunch of questions let’s see okay someone is asking can you zap an email from many chat into action etics ah not yet Dave I pretty sure that in one of our meetings they alluded to the fact that clickfunnels will eventually be a receiving app not just a giving app that is correct yeah yeah all right so so what that basically means is right now as click funnels and zapier Connect which they’re always working on more right now you can push information from click funnels into thousands of other software’s pretty soon the developers are working on it where you’ll be able to push information into clickfunnels not just out from click file so that’s coming soon to be you know date to be determined okay let’s see just look in here if there’s any other questions someone asked what is Trello oh my gosh what is Charlie you should look you should listen to Russell’s podcast you should go ahead marketing secrets calm and listen to Russell talk about Trello he has a total love affair with Trello it’s basically like project management meets list making it’s it’s a project management tool primarily ok so guys do you basically you can go to zapier comm and you can look at all of the apps that they currently connect with if you have you can connect things into Facebook groups you can connect them not just to slack and to Trello but to a lot of project management software’s asana Basecamp so any purchase in your funnel that requires any sort of manual work maybe you have a coaching program and you want to connect people to boxer or you want to send them a calendar so they can book their first call anything like that that requires any kind of manual action can be done without their and they’re always adding new apps aren’t they how many apps do they have now actually they just cross through a thousand and it’s one of the things I really encourage you guys one of the things that’s great as far as that we’ve been working with zapier on is trying to allow you to make things as robust as possible while at the same time really maintaining the streamlined clickfunnels so that it doesn’t get too too cumbersome so I really encourage you guys there are so many different things if you take a look at some of those apps that are out there and I’m gonna be trying to reach out to some of our other click felons users who are using zapier in fact if you’re on this call and you listen to this and you’re if there’s things that you are currently using Zakhar and click falls for please post it down in the comments I’d love to kind of see what everyone else is doing but you’ll see right now as Julie’s got a screen up what some of the things that zapier and clickfunnels are basically already allowing you to connect to so if you’re going to zap your under clickfunnels you’re basically see whether it’s through Gmail whether it’s MailChimp whether it’s through Trello slack all these crazy things that are out there Dropbox I know there’s a lot of different things where you can actually use Foot funnels with zapier to really work with your bas to accomplish a ton of stuff and I think probably one of the most important zaps if you’re not using Trello is going to be Trello because it just allows simplify your life a ton i’ve actually got a call later with james james Friel who we’re working with here click funnels to kind of help guys understand throw a little bit better but that’ll be for later so right now we’re gonna focus currently on zapier and some of the things that you can currently do with click funnels hands out here together yeah and so I think you know for those of you who’ve never heard of zapier or you you’ve heard of it but you’re like at seems complicated it’s really not like inside click funnels in the general settings of a funnel you’ll see all of the you know possible options right so I just kind of quickly went through some of the ones in my own business that works so well are when you want to give instructions to team members maybe you guys are doing like free plus shipping funnels and you need to alert somebody that there’s been a shipment or there’s been an order that needs needs attention right so whether you’re connecting to think about it as like you oftentimes want to connect to something that’s like a notifier that’s why Trello asana Basecamp slack things like that but you can make the two-step zaps so that it can do one thing and notify you and then it can do another action so you can notify a team member and slack and then you can add them to a new list in wherever your email service provider the other thing how many of you guys sell like you have big membership programs or maybe you have you know courses and academies and stuff and you hat and you built you built that stuff before you knew clickfunnels exists and so you have this program over here that has all your course material you can zap the purchase information from clickfunnels into your course members area so it’ll could automatically generate a user and password for your new customer that’s another thing that you can do with it’s really cool I’m seeing in some of the comments right now Julie we’ve got Kevin Kia made mention as far as quick when I was into any zapier supported CRM for lead management click funnels indeed zapier support an email autoresponder for auto on a mission management click when I was in Xavier supported webinar platforms including those that support web hooks so that’s all of them they’re things that are out there Noah Jeffery Maddox mentioned a couple things as far as instant exit clients with hot lead information so they can contact new clients right away and make the sale and I know you kind of mentioned that as far as the whole texting thing oh yeah the whole idea here is to realize there’s so much that you may are you may be doing right now that’s taken a whole bunch of steps the idea behind zapier with clickfunnels is to simplify things and really automate it as much as possible I know Julie it’s probably the things you’re most well-known for is the speed of implementation and actually get other people doing a lot of the stuff that you need to get done and Zach Jarno is one of those things that helps you connect with your VA and the rest of your team as well you know I was in Kevin you made a great a great point here about the webinar into raishin I’ve had a lot of people ask me and this is a perfect example you have a let’s say you have a live webinar you have a registration page and you want your using GoToWebinar or your using zoom and so you want to integrate your opt-in form inside click funnels right where you go into the funnel step and you go to settings and integrations and you integrate it with GoToWebinar and then you’re like ooh but I also want to integrate it with convertkit or active campaign like I wanted to go into GoToWebinar 3 click funnels but I also wanted to do something else that’s where zapier comes in handy because you can integrate with GoToWebinar integrate with zoom right in the click funnels dashboard and then you can use zapier to also send that contact information into your DSP perfect cool oh and Nick just this is cool because you are always talking about philly ‘it’s nick says you needs apps for affiliate sales so we can do a happy dance when we successfully spread the click funnels message yeah that’s really important too if you’re if you’re trying to track affiliates what I do as an affiliate is like I get the opt-in information and I use this app and then they go by click Connells and then I have the opt-in information too to follow up and connected them fantastic other things Julie what he else do want to cover real quick here well I don’t know does anybody else have any other questions about like how to how to use zapier or what maybe you’re true maybe are you stuck doing something in click funnels right now that that may be zapier can help is you just don’t know it yet interesting interested to hear what people are currently stuck on and how zapier can consult that there’s a little bit of a delay so it takes a few minutes for people to hear us and then respond so go ahead and put that down in the comments as far as any questions you guys might have as far as things you’re trying to do and see how we might be able to actually help facilitate that through who’s that here as well yeah okay here’s a question he says can you do all the Zap connection inside a click funnels so when you’re actually creating those apps you have to create an account at zapier and do in there like you can definitely click this use this app button but it’s still gonna ask you you’re gonna have to create an account over a zapier and you get three zaps for free when you sign up for zapier and then you have to upgrade to a paid account if you’re gonna be crazy and have a million zaps seen here from Kevin you can also upload your affiliate sales report to Google sheets and use apps to add your contacts back in the clip that was action etics to follow up campaigns there as well interesting cool that’s a great idea to see my CRM is commissions Inc and I’ve been having a hard time getting click funnels and them to connect via zapier yeah so I’m unfortunately if the if the receiving software isn’t isn’t connecting that’s something that you have to talk to you that receiving software about because click funnels actually did they get on the top 10 list Dave do we make the top 10 list yes we are we are okay so like click funnels and zapier really worked out their kinks so that’s working really well so if you’re noticing it’s you’re having trouble you might have to talk to your to the other software because that’s where the that’s where the problem is between the talking between zap and your CRM yeah and honestly realize I can’t but people always ask me I want this company to integrate with click funnels we’ve setup zapier integration for that sent for that exact purpose because there’s a lot of people who want one-off type of integrations and we’re just not building those types of integrations out right now but I highly recommend that you go ahead and have whoever your company is that you want to integrate with click funnels have them integrate with zapier and you’ll be able to get that kind of information right away so that’s been one of the best things we’ve seen recent it’s working extremely well for the one-off type of integrations and that’s also what we’ve really looked at as far as the companies were going to integrate next with will be those that were probably have the most robust integrations currently threes app you’re on yeah absolutely and you know the right now if you like certain there are certain software’s that have immense customization with zapier slack being one Gmail being another Google sheets Google Docs I think Trello has tons and tons of options the the most if you take nothing away from this training except this one key point if you have a new contact a new purchase or a new failed payment those are the three ways that clickfunnels can send trigger information going out so if you just sit down with your business and think about the process that happens when you get a contact when you get a purchase or when you get a failed purchase and all the things that you would love to do when that happens in your funnel chances are with a thousand apps zapier will have a receiving connection – an app that’s going to be able to do everything now guys for Trello for example I don’t know how many of you know about Butler bot it’s another automation tool I literally when something comes into my funnel and lands on Trello Butler bot takes over and starts automating the whole process it’s like the most craziest automation you’ve ever seen and it like literally eliminates my need for a VA to manage that part of my business so it’s like yeah those things definitely are gonna be working on I don’t I’m seeing a lot people say gosh we want more information on Trello and zapier and all that we will bring that to you guys later and promise you but again I wants these folks right now exactly as we can ya know so all right well guys you know I would definitely get his appier account test it out even if you do something really basic like just adding Google contacts I mean adding clickfunnels contacts to a Google spreadsheet or sending yourself a text message I don’t know how many of you really are trying to get into two comma Club or whatnot but like there’s nothing like getting a little text message or a ding on your phone that says like you rock you are awesome you just got a purchase right like I could just go set that up now I just like make my day really happy all the time we’re all about doing the happy dance you want that so whatever we can do to help you guys create a happy dance is something we definitely see happen it’s also kind of good if you’re running ads like you can tell like if you’re getting like three five purchases a day and your phone goes off you start to get used to that and then all of a sudden like your purchases tank that’s kind of a notification like hey you should go check something out on your ads you know what do things I wanted to talk to you about Julie on this first of all real quick is amber may mention his app you’re trustworthy and are there many glitches I can tell you Zack you’re everything that we’ve been using for is extremely test trustworthy and I really haven’t seen that many glitches at all so I would highly recommend using it that’s why we’re doing the podcast and the Facebook live right now yeah I mean I I run my whole business using zapier like so I trust it entirely well what I think we were going to talk about Julie is she the ideas for inviting people into your Facebook group after they buy a course yeah Oh oh I’m so glad you brought that up I totally forgot we were gonna talk about that yeah so how many of you guys sell courses and as part of the bonuses you give away access to a private Facebook group so one of the things that’s really annoying is like you never know like I don’t know about you but I get people who request to join my groups and they didn’t buy and so and so then the VA is like ooh did they buy do they not buy so the way we’ve worked around it is we send we use zapier so that when there’s a new purchase we send that information to a private channel in slack and it tags my assistant and it says hey Suzy Julie just bought this course please look out for her name in the Facebook group because you know Suzy’s gonna get an email from me that says hey welcome to the course here’s the Facebook group link but so so Suzy’s gonna know to us you know go to the Facebook group but but my VA won’t necessarily make that connection at least not without like hunting through strife or clickfunnels so slack creates a nice ordered list and she can run down and see who’s purchased the other thing is if you have a secret Facebook group like those are ones that people can’t join you have to invite them you can send a slack message that says please invite and then add their email from zaps and then you can literally have your VA just invite them via email and it’s just all tucked away you can do it in Trello or slack either one I love that one thing real quick I’ve had a couple people asking about as far as oh how many zaps can you really do and how is it really working with clickfunnels so I just received the report yesterday from zapier last month month of December there was twenty two thousand thirty three live zaps that were done between clickfunnels and someone else and hope my copies of our fifty five thousand users we have seven thousand six hundred eighty nine that are using their live users using zapier and click file so I highly recommend it gets whole reason why we’re doing this is we want to make sure that for those you guys aren’t as familiar with it Giuliano is doing a ton I really appreciate all the comments again anybody who’s got other ideas please post more comments down there so we can kind of see those as well but again whole idea here is whether it’s through trying to save a sale whether it’s trying to get a text message if you want to create your own little happy dance let’s do something like yeah and the whole idea here as far as making sure that you can really simplify your life by utilizing zapier with Trello and your VA to really accomplish almost any process that you want to do like we just mentioned as far as a Facebook group or a private Facebook group yeah if you’re not again I think I’m not saying no if you currently don’t have a private Facebook group or something like that as a bonus it’s probably one of the best things to create a community that we’ve seen so I’d probably recommend you guys take a look at you using that in some of the offerings that you guys have hey guys the sky is ultimately the limit I mean I just pulled up this zap on my screen you’re seeing right now it’s like a six step zap it’s like new purchase then enroll them in this course and roll them in this course and roll them in this course enroll them in this course send a private message to my VA and create an action card so they know what to do this is like a six step zap because I like this big bundle and this is and this is the easiest way to do it so it’s it takes a little while to like get in the game of like what you actually can use it for but once you get going you get like what I call the like automation syndrome and you just like I’m so way to automate this I know there is and you just you know you’re just like we’re you’re ready to like figure out how to save more time because right time is the most limited resource in the world totally take that off your plate and then you can focus on on your unique special genius and that’s where your real money starts to compound Dave the thing that you just said that was so cool about that is that people think of automation is like taking yourself out of your business and like being less human and more robotic but the truth is that automation frees you up so that you can connect to your customer more and stop doing all the little tasks that are just eating away at your day so you have more time to create content more time to be with your customers because all that stuff is taken care of with automation that is such an awesome point thank you for bringing that up that’s again we’re all about building as much cult sure as you possibly can there’s no way of doing it than connecting Why Dave Chose to Interview Tyler Shaule:

Tyler is a 2 Comma Club award winner and the Executive Director of a Christian children’s summer camp in Canada, the best job in the world if you ask Tyler. But as his camp faced shrinking enrollment numbers he saw that moving marketing and registration online would be a good move for his business. The only problem was he didn’t know how to do it.

hey Dave thanks I am so excited I just this is one of those things where I didn’t understand exactly what you were doing in your business and I saw you post on Facebook and are like oh my gosh this guy’s absolutely crushing it he’s one of our now over 200 – comma Club winners and he’s been just crushing it in a space that most people would never everything was possible and so I talked about it but in last eight months I think he said over 1.1 million bucks or something it’s a crazy yeah Dave that’s right yeah yeah and I I’m super excited to be on here I’m kind of a fan Girling a little bit so thanks for having me on the show well I know director of a Christian Childress summer camp in Canada and that’s kind of how this whole thing started so if you don’t like just take a couple minutes give people the back stories of how you use clickfunnels to fill camps I mean just bizarre yeah sure Dave let me give you a little bit of the story about kind of how I went from being a high school teacher to a summer camp director to an online marketer because it’s it’s kind of like a unique path right like four years ago the the camp I grew up at met my wife at and everything the director you know really tragically passed away and they were looking for someone to fill in and after you a little bit talking and thinking I thought you know this would be something to be a lot of fun so in addition to teaching high school science and math I jumped in and started to be the director of this Christian kids camp so we have nine weeks in the summer and offer some you know school trips and things like that throughout the year and you know in the middle of that there was kind of a difficult time to take over because it wasn’t doing so great we had lots of empty spaces the budget was kind of tight so we had to try to figure out a way to make it work right because it’s an important mission is something that was really dear to my heart and I thought you know did this can’t just stop right we got to do better we got to get kids there who are gonna love this and have a life-changing unforgettable experience so we racked our brains about ways to get kids there and you know in addition to lots of other strategy is one of the things we thought was hey we got to get online because we kind of the classic camp thing which is centered a brochure with that like a little paper slip inside and you got to depend on parents not to lose the thing then they got to fill it out and put it in the mail mail it in and then register kids totally paper manually right and so we had an online system and I thought you know we really pushed hard with our online marketing and online sales I bet you this would really blow up for us and this is just me being a math teacher right thinking online thing is cool these are you know kids aged 6 to 12 their parents are kind of just on this cusp of knowing online stuff and and being okay with giving their credit card credit cards online and things like that so why don’t we try it right so we jumped in and tried lots of different things and then one day I came across Russell’s stuff ordered the books red.com Secrets sock clickfunnels you know jumped into it and it worked and and it helped us incredibly yeah you got it because we’re really struggling you know how do you find a system that can help you market and sell all together that has a lot of the strategy and tactics kind of built into it or you know the education that comes along with it so yeah we were able to take that and put it together into a funnel that last year did almost 1.2 million online in like eight months yeah so crazy industry people would never think online stuff would work for summer camps yeah it is the most offline niche ever right so I tell people the time we’re like oh I can’t do online stuff I’m an offline business I say hey if I can do it with a summer camp in Canada you can do it for anything that is insane so tell me what are you doing now me that I know was kind of where it started and yeah but just last summer yeah so we’ve been using it for a couple years and last year’s kind of a big year that blew up for us we came up with a funnel that had you know three kind of unique phases to it yeah well we we really came across something important not just probably the camp industry but across all industries and that’s that the price point for us sure sure it’s kind of expensive and parents wonder if they want to spend that much money or not for the kids to go away for a week but in the end you know we’re talking about parents children you know if they’re if they’re to write down a list of their assets they probably include their kids in it but that’s because they’re like so valuable they don’t even make it on the list of assets right they wouldn’t even think of that way but you know they care so much about their kids that that is really the prime decision is can we trust these people to take care of my kids for a week so we really isolated the fact that we had to build trust and belief that we could care for their kids you know love them for a week and give them an amazing experience as fast as possible so the front end of our funnel was actually something we totally funnel hacked directly from Russells so you’ll have to say big thank you to him it was his it was his viral share contest funnel from his snapchat promotion oh yeah we totally funnel hacked that grabbed that viral share contest software used that because the whole our whole plan was you know we can’t tell people how awesome of I can’t we are they don’t care if we tell them but they will incredibly care if they’re friends family neighbors and colleagues tell them that we’re awesome so that was really the strategy was we need to we needed kind of our number one asset which was our camper parents from the past years to tell everybody they knew that we were a great place to go so we set up the front of this funnel as this huge viral share contest set up some three weeks of camps and three camp gear and said if you share like crazy we’ll give you points and someone’s gonna win all this stuff well it was incredible like we just blew up people’s newsfeeds for like weeks on end and and that goodwill that we you know established through other people’s promotion of us was really the key I think to doing so well last year I get it’s one of those things I think gosh that’s been we don’t even have that one up right now so I think probably you I think that’s awesome so obviously you go from the viral sheriff funnel to what happens where does maybe now share this where are you taking them back to what type of page what’s the funnel where they going to next yep so then from there it went into kind of our custom CRM system which is a camp software that registers kids and then after they came out of that we really spent the next either you know three to 16 weeks in an indoctrination sequence because what we’re doing is we’re getting the parents excited the kids excited will come into camp because we know that at that point they’re just you know they’re they’re signed up and we know that if we can pre frame that excitement when they get there it’s just going to be awesome so we send lots of information lots of fa Q’s basically we our objection crushing the parents with all the the worries they’ve got and the you know the the the problems that they could think for their kids I talked to our registrar and the people who work our phones and say you know what what did they call you and talk to you about what do they worry about and they tell us all the requests that parents call with or worries that the co if they kind of talk mom’s down and ease their anxiety that into email sequences and so we drip content on them so that was the middle part of the the funnel and then the end part of the funnel was really cool because this is where you know we would say that we really kind of increased the cart value per camper household we knew that if we could establish them coming back next year and increase our retention numbers that we would just be doing awesome for the following year so what we we did was we started seeding that idea well they were at camp so while they’re at camp we know that we have the parents a hundred percent attention in fact if it’s exactly like like fifty-one weeks of the year were kind of a cool place one week we are the most important thing to a band so we just would just communicate like crazy with them right send them tons of emails tons of live updates on Instagram and Facebook try to get a picture of every kid every day and we’ve got like you know over 400 kids a week as part of our camp programs other day camp for summer camp and you know just really feed those parents what they want when they want it with with two big ideas I first I said was retention you know you guys got to come back next year and kind of get that set up and the way we did that was we know if someone will refer us at that moment the chances of of them being retained the following year is amazing because of you know if you think about it if someone will tell someone else that you’re awesome then they’ve just declared their belief in you sure and you know they’re gonna come back next year right so we did that and the second thing was we said you know we’re pretty full but sometimes we have spaces because we run about 90 percent we say hey there’s a few spots left and we’ll give you a discount if you register well your kids at camp to come back you know for next week or the week after so those are the two big things it’s like the same values on same summer yeah summer so repeat the two things yeah so we do repeat buyers in that summer and then we get them to refer in the sucker so that we can retain next year that’s such a great idea it was kind of a lengthy funnel but that’s that’s kind of our industry right is the buyers journey is you know up to six months eight months long so we’ve got to kind of walk with them throughout that whole that whole time how much is a week cost our day camps are just under two hundred dollars and summer camps could be as high as about six hundred dollars so I mean it’s a it’s an investment for the parent so you know we’re not most expensive we’re not the least expensive or kind of middle-of-the-road but it is discretionary income right we know it’s not a it’s not a need it’s a want and so we really mark it that way and you know the two big things for us are probably you know trust and belief and establishing that and then the fear of missing out so we just publish a ton of media in the summer to show parents what other kids are doing and having fun because what we realized was that when a parent sees a video of their child having fun the best thing they can do is share it like your kid is a couple hours away at summer camp they see a video of lido the little Johnny doing something fun outdoors they can’t reach out and give them a hug but what they can do is you know hit that share button ten times email the whole family and they see our camp everywhere so that’s that’s how you know that’s what our biggest strategy is dominating in social media through other people not just not there not just coming because we say it’s amazing they’re coming as other people say it’s amazing and that’s probably been our biggest learning over the last couple years I love it I know you’ve got a quiz funnel you’re doing this year or something Mary what was the whole idea what’s your quiz funnel yeah yeah so that was last year so I was kind of the social the viral share funnel this year we’re doing a survey funnel so it’s called find the perfect week of camp for your child and it’s totally modeled on you know a bunch of stuff you guys have done I totally geeked out on all those survey funnels so the first couple questions are just like like total like gimme questions so we say tell us you know in one word describe your child and we’ve got these awesome five descriptors you know they’re curious they’re fun they’re energetic you know they’re they’re you know they’re humorous and every parent wants to say something nice about their kid right so they they just click in and the next is tell us about what your child would love to do at camp and then we have bought eight items of just the coolest funnest activities we have and really it’s not to find out what they want to do it’s for us to promote to them awesome things we’ve got right so we say you know we’ve got a high ropes course we’ve got tubing behind a jet boat we’ve got horseback riding we’ve got archery we’ve got an inflatable obstacle course so you know what what your child like to do and then the third the third question is are you new or returning because we want to be able to segment for that because we know that returning we wanted we want to take them down a pathway where they do a referral for us and if they’re new we really want to you know love them a lot and hold their hand a little more closely in the registration process and the last question is how old is your child because that’s gonna segment for the the page we serve them with but the camp experience that fits their child’s age group so that’s that’s the rolling out next week for us Tyler from a high school science teacher you done pretty good one point last year two million on track for this yeah I mean you guys are crushing it kill yeah it’s it’s gonna be good you know we’ve doubled enrollment over four years and for extra online sales and you know there’s a lot of factors but clickfunnels has allowed us to move fast on ideas you know cuz we can just quickly publish something in and go right and try it out test it out if it doesn’t work we haven’t invested too much time it’s alright we kill it try something new if it does work we keep optimizing and tweaking and you know one crazy thing we did last year this you’ll get a kick out of this we took a free plus shipping funnel and we made a donor conversion funnel out of it because we’ve got lots and lots of camper parents who would never donate to us we’re a Christian charity so we run great Christian camp experiences but we also have a charitable side where we invite kids to come to camp that you know otherwise couldn’t pay for camp we call it our summer fun so we raise money for that so last year we got thinking you know a lot of parents don’t really know that we do that they love us that we’re a great summer camp that their kids come to we really need to convert these camper parents into donors so we put together a free plus shipping a free plus shipping funnel at Christmas last year where we said you know you can get a Forest cliff camp swag bag and it was too kind a bunch of Forest cliff gear in it for free just $10 shipping it’s perfect to give your kids for Christmas and they’ll love it so that was kind of the front end and the second end was a video of me saying hey guys christmas is a time for giving and you probably don’t know this but we have tons of kids at camp who only get to come because people like you give you know you just gave an awesome gift to your child would you considering giving a gift to another child who really needs it this season yeah so then we had it’s you know fifty three dollars a month sponsorship is what we run as we say could you do one payment of fifty three dollars so you know we had a pretty small sample size we had a number of people who took it and then the third page was an upsell and one-click upsell cuz that’s you know clickfunnels is awesome for that right to to turn it into a recurring subscription giving you know you’ve given fifty two dollars that covers just you know that covers and it’s been amazing for us because we can just get in there and do stuff right and and try it out I’m just so impressed good I hope you guys sort of listen here I understand what’s taking place and you’re finding different ways you can use this type of stuff in your own business again just the idea as far as the viral Sherriff oh no I love the charitable donation funnel and the quiz funnel I mean those are just crazy crazy thinks that most nonprofits would never ever think of doing and it’s just again it’s such a great way you guys are implementing this kind of stuff and I now I think one of the things you were talking about is now you’re you’ve got other camps who are wanting to learn from you on how to feel their camps do yeah so you know I do I go to the conferences and talk to my colleagues and I like what what is going on like what are you doing and so I started to share a little bit more about it and you know I had dozens of people asking me so I I started up my own camp marketing consultancy and and again like clickfunnels just makes it easy cuz I was like I just got this ideas like I should do this and then set up a sales page set up a membership site and then started enrolling people as I started as a course sold the course for almost a year the last eight months I’ve made it kind of a monthly consultancy but here’s the crazy thing Dave as I’ve done this for camp directors and I just kind of talked about it my regular life I’ve got I’ve got business owners and people who are an offline business around me saying like could could I do this too so it’s been a neat journey over the last couple months for me to start thinking how could I take all the stuff that we’ve done in the context of selling camp to help offline businesses you know grow from six figures to seven figures through getting online clients you know going online finding the clients online enrolling them online and then serving them online right so that’s kind of my next big thing that’s what I’m excited for and that’s what I’m jumping into in a couple weeks I’ll have to have you back on the show you have to tell us the success of that one next year that’s just crazy crazy cool those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody welcome back to fun Hawker radio I’m your host Dave Woodward and today’s episode is a little crazy this is one that’s all about in a weird way you via me and let me kind of give you some the context to this so recently I need happen to have back surgery and I hate having to have people worry about me or anything else anytime anyone asked so how you doing I’m Mike oh I’m doing great doing great I like I sell so I came into the office today and Russell said Dave I had the weirdest Epiphany last night and I almost called you but it was super late and I wake you up so I came in and I had to talk to you about this because you know Dave you’ve been out there trying to find a way of getting better at telling stories and I was thinking the other day yeah so Russell wouldn’t have come down my son got married this last weekend down in San Diego and Colet and Russell were kind enough to come down and be there for the wedding and while he was there I I ended up making the mistake of slipping and kind of messing up my back again and he kind of saw me in pain he’s like Dave how you doing am i feeling great I’m doing great and so yesterday we were out screwing around in the Jeep and a lot right behind us and once again I kind of got out and got a little rambunctious and slipped a mess in my back again is that guy you doing I’m like Dave Russell doing great doing great so last night basically his Epiphany he said was you know Dave one of the reasons that you’re struggling right now with trying to connect more with people in your stories is because you never will let people know how you’re really feeling you won’t actually connect with them you won’t allow yourself to let the walls down and and be more vulnerable and I sat back there oh my gosh how true it really is for me and so I sat down I thought a lot about it I actually was happy out to lunch with my wife today after I went to the doctor today so basically it’s been two weeks since my back surgery went to the doctor got clarence and who’s going great and so i was talking with my wife about what Russell’s epiphany was for me this morning’s like Dave that is one of the issues I struggle with you in our marriage and that is you’re not one to ever really let anyone help you and I have a hard time connecting with you at times because you won’t let me serve you or work with you and so because that I don’t feel like I connect as much with you as I want to I thought oh my gosh that is so weird because here I was thinking I was doing this so that they didn’t have to be I wouldn’t have to be a burden to them and so I wouldn’t trouble my wife so I wouldn’t trouble other people and in doing that what’s actually happened is I’ve actually created more distance I’ve created them actually these less emotional connection more distance and so because of that it comes across as though I’m only interested in surface level type of relationships which is the furthest thing from the truth I’m totally the opposite I want to be I love deep deep relationships with I don’t do them with a lot of people but those I care about my business partner Russell and other business partners and my wife and my kids anything else I’m super super into those relationships and to me that’s what matters more than anything else in my life and yet I don’t actually let people feel that and so it’s kind of fun I got back from the doctor’s appointment today and was sitting there and was kind of talking to Russell about some of the kind of stuff and it’s fun having Russell as a business partner it’s even more fun as a dear friend we’ve known each other for over a decade now and and that friendship is what allows us to just really almost be like brothers at times and so for me it was so cool because the basis so David how do you feel at first I’m like oh I’m doing great you guys no no I really want you to stop which stop right now much tell me how do you really feel like actually Russell my back is killing me the surgery went great everything else but it still hurts and he’s like Dave you started using feeling words and I thought man this is so important and so then Russell said wait Dave you’re familiar with the copywriting concept as far as feel felt found and like I know I’ve heard about it and everything else but tell me more about it Russell it’s like well so the idea here is in your copy in your videos in the way that you’re trying to connect with people is the first part there as far as feel is all about showing empathy and I saw Jason Flavian do this with Russell on a funnel hacks webinar about this time last year and I was blown away by the the impact it had not only on the sales but also on the refund rate it was crazy we actually saw greater sales and a lower refund rate than normal because of the true emotional connection that happened with Jason after Russell got done with the webinar so give you a little context here the typical funnel hacks webinar the time was about 90 minutes in about 30 minutes worth of Q&A so about a two-hour webinar Jason afterwards went on for another hour all about resolving concerns through this concept of feel felt found and so I want to really make sure that when you’re looking at your videos when you’re looking at the things that you’re communicating with people that you’re really focusing then on this idea as far as as truly emphasizing real empathy not the fake stuff where you’re just trying to make a sale but where you truly feel their pain and so Jason sounds stuff he was saying was you know I was listening to Russell and I thought you know what I know some of the people who are listening this might feel this way they might feel that you know my gosh $1,000 I don’t know if I have that type of budget right now and then he went on to say you know what there’s a lot of a lot of people I’ve worked with in the past have felt the same way and so you go from showing empathy to then showing that others felt the exact same way and said you know what there’s a lot of others who have felt the same way this isn’t the first time I’ve done this webinar with Russell but what I found and what they found was that by taking action they actually were able to get their money back much faster because they made that investment because what they found was by making the investment they were more committed in that commitment then actually help them not only recoup the investment more importantly help them build their business to the levels they never thought possible and I saw Jason literally for over an hour use this whole idea as far as feel felt found again this is the principle you can Google and most the time they use it in sales objections Tony Hopkins does it or does it Tom Hopkins does a huge thing on feel fell found as far as overcoming objections allotted though I think in today’s world when you’re communicating with your users or with your people who are prospects is a lot of times they want to know that they’re not being pitched they want to know that there’s someone really on the other end and this goes back to a lot of the whole things we talk a lot about with regard to culture and that whole culture is the idea of really connecting with people so they feel like there’s a belonging so they really truly know that it’s so gose from the emotional aspect to the logical side where they actually know that it’s real so what I mean by that is understand most people will always buy on emotion and what they want the last thing they want is to to later on feel or find out or come to know that was all fake so when you’re out there doing your videos when you’re out there doing your Facebook lives when you’re out there connecting in your sales copy this whole idea as far as feel felt and found is something I really encourage you to explore the idea behind it again is on the feeling side is people by saying you know what you may feel this way or a lot of people I’ve worked with I know as I come across as they feel this way and by doing that it shows empathy and if you’re really sincere and you really mean it it comes across very very genuine from there then the next step is felt and the felt is typically by those people who took action so you know there’s a lot of my users there’s a lot of my customers there’s a lot of the people that I’m currently coaching there’s a lot of the people I’m working with on a regular basis felt the exact same way that you do that’s a way of being very genuine because other people truly did feel and now felt that way but what they found is by going through my program what they found is by contacting my customer support what they found is that by actually taking action what they found by just trying it what they found whatever that found might be they then got results and those results is then what solidifies and helps resolve the concern that your customers your users your prospects might be going through so I really encourage you guys to take a look at the way in which you’re approaching the sale and make sure that you’re you’re resolving concerns before they actually happened it’s one of the things I was so impressed with Jason especially on a webinar where you’re not getting actual feedback he sat there literally for an hour going through a whole bunch of feelings that he had while Russell was pitching while Russell was going through it all the 90 minutes of content everything else he then said you know what I was feeling this way maybe you’re feeling the same way what I felt a lot of people have worked with felt that way and now what they found is this so I can highly recommend that you guys spend some time go through it take a look at the feel felt and found principal use it in your copy use it in your videos start using more feeling words I’m this is where I’m getting real raw pure here and that is this is one of things I’m personally working on a lot and that is trying to show more emotion trying to really connect I really care a ton about people and it’s one of those things where I’m trying to learn how how to convey those feelings in a way that connects more with people so I hope hopefully this makes sense to you guys again one of the things I’m having a ton of fun doing right now is my son Christian actually is going through experts secrets book and each night he’s going on my facebook live and basically talking about those things have you learned chapter by chapter or secret by secret it was interesting because he’s going through the same type of thing right now as far as help him find his voice and help him find the feeling aspect and realizing that people actually buy on emotion so I’d encourage you guys to take a look at the way that you communicate what are the words that you’re using are you using more feeling words or are they more logic words I know this I know that I learned this I learned that instead of I’m feeling this way or I felt that way and what I found was this so have an amazing day hopefully this provides some value to you I’d really appreciate I’m trying to again I’m Dorian Julie welcome back hi hi everybody thanks for having me so fun this has been a ton of fun and just for those guys who are listening to podcast this is our third one we’re recording in a row so if we’re getting tired it’s because we’ve actually been at this three times this is called podcast stacking if you’re not familiar that we’re basically we’re bunch of episodes all done at one time highly recommend you guys do the exact same thing with your time maximize your time trying to stack things as much as you can but this one is a topic I wanted to kind of save to the last and that is gonna be fixing a broken funnel it’s a question we get all the time and we think gosh we need to show this and the great thing about Julie is she has such an amazing teacher she’s actually being able to help you visualize every single on of your pages and exactly how to fix them as we’re going through this so with all that said I want to dive right into this topic as far as how to fix a broken funnel so Julie let’s just dive in let’s see where we’re gonna go with this one awesome okay so a couple things before we dive in number one I want you to like close your eyes and remember fifth-grade scientific method if you were in science class it was always like you know find the isolating part [Laughter] it’s like isolate the variable right like you didn’t know if your science experiment worked if you just like changed all the variables all at once right so part of a funnel is like there’s lots of places where it can quote break or leak and so we just want to isolate that one at a time the second thing is almost every funnel is broken when it launches no it’s very very rare for a funnel to just like be perfect right out of the gate so like broken might make you feel like oh crap it’s broken but it’s not it’s just not optimized yet that’s the difference okay there’s something not quite right and it’s a matter of when you get it right not if you get it right if you keep at it so this is money like two big disclaimers so the first spot where a funnel might quote break is on the ad itself and that is really simple to determine you can just look in your ads manager if you’re doing Facebook to see how many clicks you’re getting and if you’re seeing a cost per click that’s higher than like 50 Cent’s you know and every industry it’s gonna be different so please take that with a huge grain of salt and Facebook changes every five seconds but right now if I’m looking and I’m seeing clicks that are costing me $2 a click or $3 a click its something’s not right with my ad it could be the copy it could be the image or it could be the audience all right so the first thing is you got to get people to click on your ad so that’s your first method so okay that’s step one step two is how many people are opting in on your landing page on your squeeze page and everybody’s gonna have a different benchmark so you might be like oh normally I’m at 30% but this one’s at 20% so now you know but if you have no benchmark because you’re brand new use 20% as like a industry average so that means for a hundred people that click on your ad you want at least twenty leads it will be lower if you’re in a local business because usually your audience is narrower and so those leads are fewer but if you’re in like a big like expert based business where people can buy whether they live in China or California 20% I love those little things that are so important people is these little tiny numbers because that’s what people get so fresh like I don’t even know where to start and so by getting those numbers it helps a ton so if you look and you’re like okay my cost per clicks around 50 Cent’s okay all right that’s cool you know that your ad is kind of resonating look at your facebook relevancy score you want to see a relevancy score of 7 or higher the next thing to look at is that landing page and if it’s lower than 20% probably your copy it’s probably your copy as much as I hate to say this because the designer and me loves beautiful design it’s copy that usually causes the issue even ugly funnels convert if the copies right right that happens so many times oh my gosh ah that’s yeah other podcasts will review at the top of hunt funnels but that was one of things we came out was we were looking at all those with oh my gosh these are so but but yeah so if your copy doesn’t so then you can start tweaking your copy now some of you might be like oh I can’t like I tweaked my copy and it doesn’t work it’s still not converting then your offer might suck because if you can’t like at some point you’re gonna tweak your copy so much that you’re selling a different offer right and that’s the point your offers no it’s like you keep tweaking it and you’re like shoot that’s a different offer well yeah so so you know that’s kind of how to fix that so then the second the the last way to fix a broken funnel is to look at all the statistics in the rest of the funnel and people are shocked when I tell them that industry averages like if you have like a low-cost item on your thank-you page like after people opt in one to five percent is pretty standard for buying so people like spend 20 bucks on ads and they’re like ah my phone’s broken like you’ve had three people look at it you cannot so but just like do the math if if your by rate is one to five percent how many people need to see the page to get one buyer like almost a hundred which means you need at least a hundred leads before you can even look at that page and be like ooh that page needs work so I think that’s why focusing on the ad first is the right place too many times people want to play all day long in the funnel and the ad is so critical there I think that’s great advice right exactly because you’ve got to get people in you got it like if the ads not getting good clicks like you’re not gonna get enough traffic to be able to measure it and so there’s so it you know once you get like a thousand people hitting your landing page if you’ve got a 20% opt-in rate what is that 200 people are opting in that means if 200 people are opting in you want to see one – two – three – four – five sales on that sales page and if you don’t then that’s where the leak is like that’s and and then the OTO the last like and I’m doing like a self-liquidating offer funnel right now the OTO and so many people say my OTO doesn’t work and again it’s the same problem if two hundred people opt in and you get ten people to buy if your OTO if you’re looking for like 10% that’s one purchased right it’s like a numbers game and so you know sometimes people look at like Russell’s funnels in there like oh they work so well part of the part of the advantage that Russell has is he can push massive traffic into a funnel really fast and get all those numbers and those benchmarks like this and if you’re just working on a hundred dollar budget like it’s gonna take a long time to get the amount of traffic you need to even make the call if the funnel is working or not I love that I think that’s the part that people get so frustrated so it just says I’m working like their hat you haven’t had enough people go through the funnel to even know if it’s going to work and especially when you start talking about you know Chios and down sales and you’re like wait a second here there’s a percentage of breakage all the way through that we anticipate and expect to have happen and so just because you’re not getting me that you hope for there that was anticipate about that doesn’t mean that it’s broken so i love love that idea that’s fantastic oh well shoot you know like I don’t have a lot of ad money there’s lots of ways to push traffic into your funnel besides just ads you can do podcast interviews you can shoot for your dream 100 you can stick your funnel in your email signature you can you know like start a Facebook group do SEO do YouTube videos like there’s all kinds of ways so some of its patients so my recommendation is like if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on ads you want at least a hundred people to opt-in before you make a decision about that first offer and then you want at least twenty to thirty purchases before you make a decision if your oto is not working and I would say even like 50 purchases and then you look at the data and you see where the leak is and then I would say the very first thing to do is to fix the copy is to try to tweak the copy and if you find you’re tweaking the copy to the point where you’re making a different offer then there’s information there Julie that’s fantastic and again for those of you guys who hate writing copy we’ve got product out there called funnel scripts Jim Edwards created by almonds go to photo scripts calm and check that out for sure but I think the key here is helping people understand I love really as you started things off the whole idea as far as this whole scientific theory with that whole idea of understanding listen you have to start my only change in one variable you can’t change the ad you can’t change the offer change the coffee and think you’re gonna get anything out of it so you have to be patient through this which I know is it’s hard it’s frustrating for people just going listen I’ve only got so much money and add spin here that I can get go on this thing I want to make sure it works right out the gate well I’ve always looked at anything and I may be just stupid on I think you gotta be willing to spend $1000 at least on a funnel in ads if you’re not willing to spend that you you’re not gonna get enough numbers going through to be able to understand if it’s really working or if it’s not working so I will start any the finals I’ve ever looked at buildings it listen I’m willing to literally light a match to a thousand bucks if I have two examples that I’m okay with the fact that the information I’m buying information that’s death is how I look at it as far as I got to buy the I gotta buy the data and no one has the data but the marketplace and so I’ve got to pay people for that data and that’s how I’ve always looked at any funnels and it’s it’s always working mean that way that’s like that’s the most brilliant explanation I’ve always tried to explain it and I’ve come up short and that’s exactly what I say I have said to my clients it’s like we’re gonna light a match to this money like don’t expect anything from it but that’s exactly right we’re buying data there’s no way until you use the marketplace to test to know if your funnel is broken and so I think that’s brilliant and I think the the the other thing is and the difference between a front end and a back end funnel and for those of you who are building the front end funnels like the free plus shipping or the the self liquidating offer funnels those funnels are successful if they break even or if you make a little bit of profit that’s their design like the back end funnels are where you want see that profit maximizer I had a client she’s like I’m spending a hundred I spent like three thousand dollars on ads and I made like four thousand from it and it’s a front-end funnel I’m like awesome like that awesome it’s just like is it I’m like yes because now all of her leads she’s acquired like thousands and thousands of leads for free and she’s made a little bit of profit but she’s like why I need to sell them something else I’m like exactly so like that’s like that’s sometimes why people say build your back-end first because it’s like once that back-end is ready and then you start building your front ends then you have something to sell them and you start to see that momentum but beginners are like oh just make something small and I’ll make a little front-end funnel and then it breaks even and they’re like crap it’s not working like no it’s working I love it again we talk about this all the time if you’re not familiar a customer in average cart value so see a C and a CV are two of the most important things when you’re paying attention to a front-end fundal is what is the cost to acquire the customer and what’s your average cart value and that’s again look at average cart value is the sum of all the products that basically were women’s ot owes down sales products or deformed bumps all that as far as what’s the average cart value for that because if you can get what Julie just said it’s literally the holy grail of marketing and then it’s so funny I was talking with a huge I mean a multi hundred million dollar company the other day and they’re like if what you guys are really talking about really would work we have become a billion dollar company and I’m like it works the property they don’t know your numbers and again they’ve gotten so big that they’re like you know we just keep throwing money it just keeps growing I’m like know if you’ll pay attention to your cost acquire customer your average car value in the front end their back end is so huge they live just below this thing it could easily be a billion dollar company but they’re struggling around again that two to three hundred million which again it’s a big company it’s like it really works up for any size company so I love I love the fact that you pointed that out thank you um last thing I wanted to talk about with the broken funnel is the stats inside the click funnels editor when you decide so like let’s say you do get traffic like all right Julie I got traffic something’s broken I want to tweak something what you can do is you can use the date filter and like like you grab a week right like December 1st to December 10th or whatever and write down what your what all your percentages were for that week right in the past change your copy like change your headline and whatever copy you want to change maybe your call to action places you want to change your like headlines and calls to action and places like that and then run it for another week and then look at that week and compare it and see and then use that filter to see like how did that we do versus this week do and then you can kind of guess all right the copy helped or no the copy didn’t help you know I love that oh man Julie again love love your experience love the fact it’s always fun to talk to someone who’s built not on their own funnels but working with clients because you have such a
