really know what to expect.
And I asked Dean,
and Dean was like,
“Oh, we talk about business,
“but we always talk
about business.
“Let’s leverage Tony while we
got him for a couple hours.”
– Okay.
Is Russell gonna join us too?
– Uh…
– Oh is he gonna be up–
– Yeah, he’s right there.
– Okay cool.
I think it’d be worth
taking a few moments,
a minute or two with
each, and have you tell us
where are you right
now in your life?
Where are you?
What’s great?
What’s missing?
What needs to change?
And let’s see if we
can go a little deep
so it’s not a
surface thing here.
We’re happy to answer
marketing and sales
and business
questions, of course.
But my hope for you is that we
go a little deeper because…
How many of you are
between 35 and 45?
(bleep) Virtually all of you.
So, if you’re in that
range, close to it,
every stage of life has
different opportunities
and different challenges and
I’m lucky enough to have
lived almost 60 years now
and I can look back on those
years and see each decade.
And everyone’s different,
nothing’s universal.
But, there’s certain things
that that stage of life
show up for people
pretty predictably.
And if we look at
some of those things,
we might be able to
give you even more help
than just your business,
which will help your
business as well.
So, if you’re open to
it, we’ll go there, so…
– I’d suggest going
deeper than you
even thought you were gonna be
and I also wanna give
it up for Russell,
our other partner and
friend, in helping make this.
(applause)
What a great friend
and it’s been amazing
for us to get to know you more,
and Colette it’s
been so awesome.
You guys are family now,
so without any further
ado, let’s do this.
– [Russell] In a
way, we basically did
where there’s 10 of us that were
kind of in this
little small group,
and Dean and Tony are in front,
and everyone had a chance
to introduce themselves,
talked about what they were
doing and having success,
so everyone could
celebrate together,
and then talk about what in
your business or your life
you had questions about,
or you were at a crossroads
and didn’t know what to do
and just kind of be vulnerable
and share that a little bit.
I was in the second row
so I had a little while
to sit back and just relax and
a couple hours to watch him
go deep on everybody else.
But what’s amazing about Tony,
when you watch him
do what he does,
his context of
who’s in the room.
He’ll go deep on someone,
he does an intervention.
As he’s doing it, he’s
saying things specifically
that he knows that
Russell needs to hear,
or Jenna needs to
hear, or whatever.
And he’ll say something
and he’ll mention it,
he’ll look at me direct
eye contact like,
“That was for you, Russell.”
I’m like, “Got you.
“Okay, I’m picking up
what you’re laying down.”
So I had a chance to see him
do a bunch of interventions
like Lewis Howes, and Josh
Bezoni, and Billy Gene,
and just all different
people leading up to me.
And from everyone’s
presentation,
I dot different pieces about
how to structure your life,
how to do your morning routines.
All these cool things made
me start thinking in my head
about ClickFunnels
and the future,
and what do I wanna actually do?
– [Tony] We’ve worked
with individuals,
but how many gotten something
for yourself in each one so far?
Just wanna make sure.
Okay, good.
Just wanna make sure.
– In fact, by the
time he got to me,
I was just like,
“I’m kinda good.
“I know most of the
answers I looking for.”
Hey.
– [Tony] You should
be up here talking.
What are you doing
sitting there?
(laughs)
No, I wanna be back here.
But there’s one question that
I’ve always wanted
to ask Tony about
but been really
nervous about it.
It’s kind of the
question that like
I don’t think anybody else
would ever dare to ask him
or even bring it up.
But…
– Russell, at lunch today, said,
“What I really wanna ask
Tony is how’s his breath
“always so amazing?”
– How’s what?
– How’s your breath
always so amazing?
– Your breath is insanely good
all the time.
– That’s what he said.
(laughs)
– Probably isn’t right now.
(laughs)
– [Russell] That’s
actually a real question.
You can text me the answer
to that one some time.
What’s that?
– Alkalinity.
– I literally said
it last night.
– When your breath’s
bad, you’re very acidic.
– Huh.
– Yup.
– That’s all I got.
Just kidding.
(laughs)
It’s hard to put it
as an actual question,
so I’m not really sure exactly.
It has to do with kind
of just direction.
So, obviously,
ClickFunnels turns
five years old in two weeks.
It’s been five years run–
– [Tony] Give him a
hand, that’s awesome.
(applause)
– Thank you.
It’s become bigger than we
ever, I think, dreamt initially
and it’s been a really really
fun ride as we been growing.
We’re almost 400 employees now.
We passed 95,000 active
customers last week,
we should have 100,000 by
the end of this year, so
(claps)
a lot of fun things.
– [Tony] That’s what I’m
saying, that’s not a promotion
it’s a business.
– But also, it’s…
I remember the very
first time we met
at UPW like 10 or
11 years ago, and–
– [Tony] Toronto?
– In Toronto, yeah.
And you told me, you
said the reason why
you got in this business
is because of the art.
You were doing your art and
then you built a business
because you had to do it to
be able to support your art.
And I’ve always felt like
that’s very similar to me like
I love the art of what I do,
and that’s what I’m passionate
about, that’s why I love it.
It’s all about that for me,
and as the business has grown,
I’m still in the CEO role,
and I think that’s been one
of the hard things is that
as it’s grown, my ability
to do the art has shrunk.
I have pockets of
times I could do it,
like doing events I love,
I love writing the books,
I love doing content,
but now I’m a CEO also
which, especially at this
level, there’s all the
legal compliance now which
you take my art and then
the lawyers look at it
and they try to destroy the
art before they send it out.
It’s hard and then you get
just all the
government regulations.
We processed $4 billion so
far through ClickFunnels.
Now, it’s just like
the bureaucracy,
that part of it now is…
– Yes.
– What takes up
so much of my time
and my ability to
spend time in the art
has gotten smaller and smaller.
And I think that’s kinda
been this weird spot
where I’m at where it’s like
we have an opportunity, I think,
if we wanted to
exit, we could exit.
But then I have the
fear of if I did exit,
would I lose my art,
and is there a way to
exit and keep the
art, or is it just
do I need to shift
so I can do my art
and not worry about
that part of it?
So, that’s kind of the
question coming into it,
which a lot of stuff you
said to Josh has been…
Was really good for me as well.
– Yours is different
though because
you have really
mastered that business
at a really amazing level
where you could sell it for
a billion dollars probably
on a gross multiple as
you described, right?
So, I don’t think it’s
quite the same thing there,
but I think the difference is
the art matters to
you emotionally.
That’s why I
brought it up to you
when I was talking up here.
It matters to you so much,
that if you don’t have what’s
next before you sell it,
you’re making a big mistake.
So, you either gotta decide
maybe I’ll get a
valuation slightly less,
but all my employees
will win and I’ll win
and I can just keep running
it and I’ll do my art,
I’m gonna hire
someone to be the CEO
and I’ll be the chairman.
That’s what I would do, that’s
what I am in my company.
I’m the chairman, I’m
no longer the CEO.
So, you either decide to exit
because you don’t
want those things,
and in those cases I’m
not the CEO there anyway,
someone else is
doing it, but for me
it was getting in the way
of what I wanted to do.
And the other area’s I
made myself chairman,
I hired CEOs that are really
skilled in those areas,
and then decided what I wanna
do with those businesses
’cause I wanna keep them.
So, I got enough
assets, enough benefit,
I don’t need to sell them.
You have enough assets probably
’cause you live very humbly.
This guy’s one of the
most humble people I know.
He’s like 100
million times better
than he ever projects
himself to be,
he always understates
who the (bleep) he is,
he’s a total (bleep) stud,
and he’s incredibly humble,
is he not?
And it’s incredible.
And he lives a humble life,
and he’s got five
beautiful children,
and he’s just a
great human being.
You all know that I think
if you interact with him.
So, you have all that by the
ass, so to speak, by the tail.
So, to me, it’d be like,
“Okay, I can exit, but
if I’m gonna do it,
“what am I gonna use
that for that’s gonna be
“even more fulfilling?
“Otherwise, I should keep
this and get someone else
“to do the shit I don’t wanna
do who’s even better than me,
“get back into my art.”
As your friend, you
love what you do.
You light up when you do it,
I love being around you
when you talk about it.
It’s like Jesus
has come to Earth
and is coming through his body.
It’s a beautiful
thing, you know.
So, for you to sell that is
really exciting right now.
I don’t know if it’ll be
exciting five years from now,
unless you found the
next most exciting thing
that you’re gonna build
and make happen and go do.
‘Cause the money’s not gonna
change your life, brother.
It’ll change your
life for the moment,
it’ll provide some
comforts or some securities
maybe more than you
have, but, honestly,
the lifestyle you
have, you got plenty.
I would not let the
momentum of the business
determine where my
life is gonna go.
I decide where my
life’s gonna go
and decide where the business
needs to go based on that.
‘Cause, otherwise,
everyone around you’s
gonna push you towards
it, and because
a billion dollars, like
that’s the big number
everybody wants to
hit, not everybody,
most people wanna hit
a million dollars,
but a billion dollars,
oh my god, you know.
A billion dollars’
unbelievable, but
most of your life probably
won’t change very much.
So, maybe decide
how you’re gonna get
the assets you want for
yourself and your family,
but where you could do the
art still and keep growing it
just for your own fulfillment,
and because you have so much
to give and you’re like,
how old are you now?
– 39.
– [Tony] You’re not
even (bleep) 40.
You haven’t even gone on
your (bleep) journey yet.
It’s beautiful what
you’ve accomplished.
No, I mean it, that’s
not derogatory.
It just means, “Holy
(bleep), I’m 60.”
You think about
the next 20 years,
what you can do from
where you are now.
Where I was at 39,
most people are like,
“Oh, it was unbelievable.”
It was like (bleep) nothing
compared to what I’m doing now.
So, I wouldn’t sell myself
short for the money.
Still get the money,
you should be smart.
You should take it off the
table, you built something,
you should do it.
Should help your people do it.
It’s figuring out
what your plan is
that’s gonna be more fulfilling.
That’s the most important thing,
’cause in the end,
it’s the fulfillment
that’s gonna make the
quality of life happen.
It’s not gonna be the dollars.
And you love what
you do, brother.
– [Russell] I do.
– And you’re getting pulled away
from some of it, as you
said, more and more,
so all the more reason
to sell the business,
but that’s not
really the reason.
That just means you
shouldn’t be doing that role.
Find somebody who’s so good at
the role, loves that (bleep).
– Yeah.
– [Tony] That’s who
you put in there,
that they thrive
on that (bleep).
It’s like knowing what
your greatest gifts are
and staying with
those even more.
The business wouldn’t be here
because of your CEO role.
The business is here
’cause of your vision,
and your influence,
and your passion,
and your creativity,
and your intelligence,
and your (bleep) caring,
and your ability to teach,
and your humility.
That makes everybody go, “Man,
“he really seems
like an easy guy.
“If he can do it,
I can do it too.”
You don’t seem like
superhuman and you are.
But you don’t seem like
it, which is what makes
more people be able to succeed.
I’m 6’7 so sometimes they
think I’m super (bleep) human,
and I’m not super
(bleep) human, right?
But they think I am, so
then sometimes it was like,
“Tony can do that
shit, what about me?”
But if they spend
enough time with me,
they see they don’t
have to do what I do.
They can do what they do
even better, you know?
Makes sense?
– I think, for
sure, your company,
and, obviously, you’re on
track to do great things,
but I think if you got
the right CEO in place
who loved being a CEO as
much as you love marketing,
there’s another level
of exponential growth,
’cause I know you.
You and I market, we
think a lot alike,
we have great conversations.
You’re just getting pulled
away from that genius of yours.
Your biggest growth could be
just what Tony’s talking about
is a CEO that loved
running the day-to-day
as much as you love marketing,
and you got back
into your craft.
I think there’s another
exponential growth
waiting with that decision.
– It’s also timing.
You should probably take
something off the table, right?
But still keep your vehicle
unless you’ve
found a better one.
You need to get out of
what you don’t enjoy.
‘Cause when you do what you
enjoy, you (bleep) crush it.
And you feel alive.
She knows better
than anybody, right?
There’s two types of marketing
that are sucking your energy,
external or internal marketing.
External marketing is
the time you’re spending
serving the customer
and the client,
or maybe your internal clients.
Internal marketing is
dealing with all the (bleep)
that frustrates you
and pisses you off,
and if you’re spending so much
time on internal marketing,
you have less for
external marketing,
the business will not
have the same value,
or, more importantly, even
though the business keeps going,
you aren’t feeling
the same value.
So, there’s only so much E.
I got a lot of it,
you guys do too.
E meaning pure energy,
but there is a limit
no matter who we are, no
matter how strong you are.
So, you gotta say where
is that energy gonna go?
And if there’s any mistake
I used to make, by the way,
it’s to stay with
people way too long,
’cause I’m a very loyal person,
but what I’ve learned is
if I’m not loyal to the mission,
if I’m not loyal
to the best players
by trying to stay with somebody,
if you’re gonna play
with Michael Jordan,
you better be (bleep)
ready to play.
Otherwise, go play
somewhere else.
Nothing wrong with you
not wanting to give
the same amount as I do, but
you shouldn’t be on this team.
Find somebody that loves to
deliver as much as you do
on the marketing like Dean said,
it’ll be a different
game for you.
– As a consumer of your content,
I listen to every
podcast that you release
and I can hear you
just trying your best
to squeeze in that time
on your drives to work,
or wherever it can be,
and it’s always gold.
I always do kind of
leave those episodes
thinking like, “What if
Russell just had more time
“to create, to write, to do
what, frankly, you do best?”
And so, I think that chairman
is a really interesting role
for somebody like you.
That was cool.
– [Tony] Give him a hand.

– Well, thank you both so much.
I feel like I’ve
already gotten so much.
(calm inspirational music)
– [Russell] Yeah, I think
a lot of entrepreneurs
they start their
businesses because
they’re passionate
about a thing.
I’m a great photographer,
or I’m a great
designer, whatever.
They get into because of
the passion for the thing
and then you have to
learn all these businesses
to be able to support the art.
And I think it’s interesting
how we all eventually
have to become the
CEO of our business
because we’re the ones who
are the most passionate.
We get stuck in the CEO
role because that’s where
you need to be to
drive the ship,
but a lot of times
that’s what then makes it
so you don’t even spend
time with the art.
And then you start, in
some cases, resenting it.
It shifts really quickly
from being an entrepreneur
to back to being a job.
It’s kind of the opposite reason
why most of us got
into this business.
I’m not exactly positive
what I’m gonna do.
For sure, what I’m
gonna do is I’m gonna
try to have an
inventory of myself
to really sit down
a bit and think
what are the things that I love?
If I was to design
my perfect week,
what would that look like?
If I was to design a perfect
month, a perfect year.
I think a lot of times,
we don’t focus on
architecting that
and designing it,
so instead, come to the
office everyday and it’s like,
“Ah, there’s a whole
bunch of fires.
“What fire do I put out
first, second, and third?”
Instead, it’s coming
back so, “Okay,
“who’s the person who can
be in charge of the fire?”
If I was to build this
from ground up right now
with only put
myself in spots that
they give me most passion
and fire and excitement,
like what would those be?
Almost like writing
your own job description
for your own job.
This is my job description,
I do this, I do this,
I do this, I do this.
And then make a job description
except you don’t like as much.
And take that job description,
like who’s the person
that wants this job?
‘Cause there are
people who love it.
I phone up my funnel
building team, I’m like,
“You guys are so lucky.”
I have to go have a
meeting with so-and-so and
you get to build
funnels, I love it,
I love sitting down at a
whiteboard and architecting,
and figuring out the designs,
the branding, the logos,
the hook, the author, the copy.
Like being in the
middle of that,
and when it’s done
you see the funnel
like how beautiful it is.
I love that part of it.
And the second part I love
is getting that ah-ha moment
for other people like
when they’re like,
“How would a funnel
work for me?”
And you explain it to them
all someday like they get it.
There’s something about that.
That’s the other part, so
I think it’s understanding
who are the people
that are obsessed with and
love the things that I don’t
and let’s give
those things to them
and let me just do what I love.

– The Dream 100, so
what is the Dream 100?
It’s something I
talk about a lot.
I try to get entrepreneurs to
build out a Dream 100 and to
focus on that as the core
foundation of their business.
Yet most people don’t
ever listen to it,
let alone actually apply it.
So, I wanted today
tell you guys the story
about how I used the Dream 100
to get to meet a
whole bunch of amazing
people that I wanted
to get to know.
Now, most importantly
my number one Dream 100,
who was Tony Robbins, and
how I used this strategy to
first off become his friend,
second off to getting to
promote ClickFunnels,
to promote us
and more recently to actually
become a partner with him.
And so, that’s what I’m
talking about today.
– Your reveal?
– Come on in bro!
– The reason why Tony Robbins
has been one of my Dream 100
I remember 15 years ago
when I first heard about him
and I saw him on “Shallow Hal”
and I was like, who is this guy?
– Okay.
– Now, close your eyes.
– So, I went to eBay and
I bought every single
Tony Robbins course I could
find and I plugged in,
and I would listen to Tony
talk to me every single day.
It started to slowly
shifting my mindset,
shifting my body,
shifting all the things.
As I was growing my
company I always thought,
man, it’d be so cool to
work with Tony on something.
I just said, I wanna
figure out a way
to get to know him and
get to work with him.
So, to kinda put
it in perspective
about how hard it is to get
through all the gatekeepers,
since he is a celebrity
that’s bigger than life.
Again, he’s been on movies.
More recently he’s got his
own Netflix documentary.
He speaks to
millions and millions
of people around the world.
– Tony Robbins is
one of the most
sought after seminars
in the world!
– I’d always had this thing
that I wanted to meet Tony.
– He’s about six foot nine
and he speaks like this!
– He coaches Presidents
of the United States,
runs 54 different companies,
five or six billion
dollars a year in sales.
I always think I’m the
busiest person in the world
until I look at Tony,
I’m like, me times 54.
For me the question’s
like how am I,
a 22-year-old kid
supposed to figure out
how to get access
to Tony Robbins?
Literally the biggest
person in my industry
and probably 40
different industries.
– You think he’s at
home now watching this?
– I don’t know Jay, I
don’t know where he–
– I was right here!
– So, what I did, that
built on the Dream 100,
of who are the people who may
be around Tony that I could
get access to, people a couple
of tiers down below him.
At that time my Dream 100 list
included a lot of those people.
People like Frank Kern and
John Reece and Eben Pagan.
All of them lived in
San Diego close to Tony.
And so I Dream 100
them, got to know them,
and then one day one of them had
a chance opportunity to
go and meet Tony Robbins.
When he got in there,
he talked to Tony,
and introduced Tony to all the
rest of the people
at that level.
I actually didn’t
know I was in at first
until one random day
I got a phone call
from Tony and his team to ask me
if you wanna come
and experience UPW
and then have a
chance to actually
sit down and meet
with Tony in person.
(upbeat music)
– How you doin’ out there
Toronto?
(audience cheers)
– So, I flew up to
Toronto to attend
Unleash the Power Within
and I came as attendee.
– Not consciously but
unconsciously through a problem!
– He invited me to
sit in a private
section right in the front.
(upbeat music)
And every time he’s talking
about different topics
he keeps looking at me
and keeps looking at me
and I’m like, oh my gosh,
all leading up to that night
we had a chance to do
the Fire Walk with Tony
which is what UPW is famous
for, you get to walk on fire.
– The purpose of
the Fire Walk is
just a great metaphor
for taking things
you once thought were
difficult or impossible
and showing you how
quickly you can change.
– And he came to me
and said, Russell,
so glad to have you, and
gave me this huge hug.
And he said, come on,
let’s go walk on fire.
(audience cheering and clapping)
(suspenseful music)
I remember going to bed
that night I called my wife,
I was like, oh my
gosh, I walked on fire
and I met Tony, it was crazy!
And I just I knew that that
little piece of him I got
I was like, I want more of this.
I want more for
myself, for my family.
And so, that’s kinda
where it really began.
And when Tony was in his
hotel room talking to me,
one of the first things he said,
he said that I read
about your story.
I know a little bit about you
and you got started
with potato guns, right?
I was like, how
did you know that?
He’s like, ah, I watched
this video of you.
And I’m like, ah,
so embarrassing
that you know about
my potato guns!
But when I got back
from UPW I was thinking,
what’s something
I could send him?
What’s something I can, a
man who can buy anything,
who has everything, what can
I send him that’s unique?
That’s special?
And all of a sudden
I had this idea.
I should send him a potato gun.
The actual potato
gun that we made
in the DVD “How to
Make a Potato Gun”.
And so, I waited for a
month and then two months.
And I didn’t hear anything back
and then one day I get this
email from Tony saying,
Russell, I just got
to my home and there’s
this big, huge box
on the front porch.
He told me that that
night him and Sage
and everybody went out and they
shot the potato gun
in his backyard.
I wanted to send
him a potato gun,
because I wanted
to figure out a way
that Tony’s gonna
remember my name.
And I thought, what’s
gonna be unique that he
will always associate with me?
And I thought the
most unique thing
I could possibly send him
would be a potato gun.
(phone rings)
One night I got a random call.
And I didn’t know who the
number was but I answered it.
And it was Tony
Robbins’ assistant.
They said.
– Hey, Tony wants to know
if you wanna speak in Fiji?
And Collette’s sitting
there and I was like,
Tony wants me to speak in Fiji?
And she heard that and she goes,
tell him yes, tell him yes!
I was like, when is this?
– Next week.
– You want me to speak
in Fiji next week?
And she starts jumping
on the bed like,
tell him yes, tell him
yes, mouthing that to me.
And I’m like, yes,
yes, we’ll come!
And that was 10 years ago.
We actually stayed
in this exact same
house that we’re in right now.
And the kids were
playing right here.
And the first time we got here
I’m like, what should we do?
And there’s a projector here
so that night we sat down
and we actually
watched “Shallow Hal”.
– Please stand up
and give a big hand
to Russell Brunson,
ladies and gentlemen!
– First off, I know a lot
of you guys have businesses
that are bigger than mine
that have been around longer.
But at the same time I hope
that I can bring some
value to you guys,
because I do have a skill set,
we in our company generate
a lot of leads online.
Tony sat in the back of the room
taking notes the entire time.
After the event we were
supposed to fly home
and he asked, he said, hey,
I’m creating this new product
called the New
Money Master series.
Do you wanna be on
one of the DVDs?
I was like, are you kidding me?
And so.
– Let’s get to it!
Russell, I just wanna
really thank you
for coming all the way to Fiji.
– Yeah thanks, it’s
been amazing so far!
So, all this amazing
(mumbles) and stuff happens
and there’s all this
momentum, there’s progress.
We’re moving our way in!
And then, nothing, for years.
Not just like a
year, multiple years.
Like four or five
years (chuckles).
And I got an email from
someone on his team like,
hey, do you wanna help promote
Tony’s book when it comes out?
And I knew that they
were gonna do it wrong.
And I was like, ah!
And so I messaged
Tony, I was like,
hey, I know you’re about
to launch your book.
We just launched ours,
we got a huge success.
I would love to jump
on a call with you
or someone on your team to
kind of explain what we did
’cause I think
it’ll help you sell
a lot more books if you
put it through a funnel.
And he said, I wanna
build a funnel.
Cool, we have this new
software called ClickFunnels.
We’d love to build the
whole thing for you.
And he was like, okay,
how does it work?
I’m like, oh, I need
some of your time.
And he’s like, coordinate
this with my team
and we’ll figure it out.
(phone calling tone)
we called his team
like, we need a day.
And they’re like.
– No.
– Okay, can we have half a day?
They’re like.
– No, there’s no way.
– And we’re like, well, we
have to get him on video,
talking about his book.
– I can give you an hour.
– I’m like, an hour?
– That’s all.
That’s stretching it even.
– Okay so, we flew to Vegas,
we got our own hotel room.
We rented the nicest
suite possible
’cause we needed a good
place to go film videos.
How you doin’?
– It’s been a long time!
– Okay, we got everything
set up for an hour.
We film all the videos we
needed for this funnel.
We gave it to him as a gift
and then they used that funnel
during the book launch.
– Thank you!
– In his newest book
“Money Master the Game
Seven Simple Steps”.
– And everybody here
is getting a book!
(audience applauding)
– It was on every
single news channel.
Today show, CNN, everything,
all pushing back to this
one book funnel that we’d
helped create for him.
– You gotta learn
from rich people.
He lived in a car!
He ain’t always had this book!
(Tony laughs)
– It was successful,
he was grateful.
And after that we didn’t
hear from him again.
Obviously he’s like
one of the busiest,
if not the busiest man on earth.
– He’s clearing out.
(door clicks)
– About that time is
when we had launched
our FunnelHacking Live event.
We had our first event and
we had no keynote speakers.
Our second event, right,
we should get a big
keynote speaker.
We’re like, you know what’d be
really cool is Tony Robbins.
Right?
We can’t afford Tony, let’s
just get somebody else.
As it moved in to
FunnelHacking Live number three
that’s when we’re like, okay
we should try to get Tony.
And I didn’t know
how that worked.
I don’t know what he’s
charged, I had no idea.
(gasps) But I was
like, you know what?
First off, if I wanna build
this relationship with Tony
I need to give him
access to our platform.
Number two, if I wanna
build a deeper connection
with my audience I need
to introduce them to Tony.
Tony changed my
life and I know that
he could change
their life as well.
And so, no matter how
much money it cost
we decided to go for
it and to just do it.
– Okay, go, okay go!
– Here he comes, here!
– We have Tony for the event!
– We got Tony!
(the men cheering)
– What?
No way!
(upbeat music)
– I don’t do that many talks
anymore, private talks.
I pick the ones that I wanna
do and there’s very few.
But I’m here because of Russell.
He is truly, yes,
give a hand for him.
(audience applauding)
(upbeat music)
– He went up there and
spoke for almost five hours.
And when he got off, I came
back on stage and it was crazy!
– [Audience] Russell,
Russell (clapping)!
– The entire
audience was standing
and they started
cheering my name!
– [Audience] Russell, Russell,
Russell, Russell (clapping)!
– And it was kind
of weird for me
’cause I didn’t do
anything, Tony did it.
But because I had brought Tony
to them they were so grateful.
After the event was over I knew
that Tony was in the middle
of launching his new book.
And we wanted to help
support this book as well
and so we set up
time after the event
up in the hotel room
for me to actually
go up there and interview
Tony about his book.
I’m excited ’cause I
read his original books
like 20 years ago and–
– Yeah, that’s the last time
I wrote a book (chuckles)!
– And then there
was no books forever
and then that’s when I
started going through
the courses, and the
CDs and the events, and.
And then after it got
done, him and his entourage
were cleaning up and they’re
about to head out the door.
And what he didn’t know at
the time is that in my pocket
I had the very first copy of
the “Expert Secrets” book.
And so as he was
racing out I said,
hey, really quick
Tony before you go,
I just finished my second
book and I would love
to give you a copy
of it and hopefully
you have a chance to flip
through it on your flight home.
He looked at me for a
second, to the book,
gave me a hug and then he
took off and he was gone.
(upbeat music)
Now I can fall asleep!
And we were just kinda
like, ah, crashing!
Like mission
accomplished, we did it!
We took the interview
and we promoted it
and sold a ton of
copies of his book.
Again, trying to figure out how
we can provide as much
value as possible.
So, we did that by
being an affiliate
and selling a ton of
copies of his book as well.
(suspenseful music)
I’d known him at this
point for about 10 years.
I had built book
funnels for him.
I had paid him to speak.
I’d given him access
to our platform.
I’d consult for him for
free as often as I could.
I’d try to provide
value as much as I can
and it was the first
time that I ever
went to ask Tony for anything.
And it was for the launch of
the “Expert Secrets” book.
It was coming out.
He is of all experts
the ultimate expert
in so many different
fields that I thought
if I can get Tony
to interview me
on his fan page that would be
the best thing in the world.
I was so nervous, I think a
lot of people when they pursue
a Dream 100 they’ll
do all the work
but the scary part is
asking the question.
Will you promote me?
And I had been so
nervous to do it.
Finally I said, you know what?
If I don’t ask, I’ll never know.
So, I sent him a message
and within like a minute,
Tony texts back and said,
yep, I’m in, I’ll help you.
I was like, oh my God!
– Tony Robbins is
doing a Facebook Live
with Russell tomorrow
at noon, yeah!
– Are you serious?
– No way!
– What?
So, at the time his
fan page had like
three point nine million fans.
(camera man laughs)
– The moment!
It happened today!
100%!
– This is so exciting!
– We’re clicking go and
went live on his fan page.
– There’s a new book out
called “Expert Secrets”.
The subtitles help you
define your message,
build a tribe and
change the world.
Yes, hold that up so we
all see that (laughs)!
– There it is (laughs)!
So, we’ll see the stats over
here on John’s computer.
– Hearts and love
baby, hearts and love!
The stats man!
– That video was viewed
over three million times.
Tony really opened up
his entire brand to me.
Allowing me to be able
to share my message
and my story and my
book with all of these
millions and millions of people.
And that was really the power of
building a relationship
with someone
to get exposure and access
to their entire audience.
– So, if you got my text, right?
You got my text?
– Yeah, yeah.
– Yeah, okay what
if you text me on,
I don’t have time, do I?
I have people come here in
five minutes, I apologize.
– [John] Some people’s coming
here in like five minutes.
– Well, thank you
people for waiting.
Oh!
(the guys chuckle)
– Dude, that’s awesome, my gosh!
– [John] That’s so sweet!
(suspenseful music)
– All right, so this time
ClickFunnels was growing.
We’re a little bit more
financially secure.
The next FunnelHacking Live
we’d sold over 3,500 tickets.
And so we said, you know what,
we’re at a point now when
we can book Tony again.
So, we called him back
up and booked him for
FunnelHacking Live
in Orlando as well.
And this was the
FunnelHacking Live
where we introduced Operation
Underground Railroad
which is a charity
that Tony’s part of.
Tony’s the number one donor
of Operation
Underground Railroad.
And then, after the event was
done we were breaking it down
and we had a really cool
moment behind stage.
– Congratulations,
this makes me so happy!
You’ve made a
giant contribution.
Right, you know that will save
a whole lot of kids’ lives,
that’s just amazing
and beautiful.
So, congratulations.
– I think one of
the sub-lessons here
for the Dream 100 is
that by doing that,
and it wasn’t something
we orchestrated,
it was just something where Tony
and I both share the same value.
And for him to be
able to see that
and see it wasn’t just
something we talked about
it was something we actually
did and put it into practice.
It’s just something that
builds the connection,
the friendship, the
relationship, that much closer.
And so, it’s important
to find people
that you share values with as
you’re building your Dream 100
because that’s what makes those
relationships really matter.
So, after that
FunnelHacking Live.
When I fast-forward
about six months later
I got invited by
Brendon Burchard
to go to a private
mastermind group in Wyoming
with a whole bunch
of amazing people.
And it was a private mastermind
group that nobody knew about.
We flew in helicopters
to get to this location.
Go fishing, shoot shotguns,
a whole bunch of other
cool things like that.
And on the flight home,
Dean and I were actually
sitting next to each other,
talking to each other.
We’re talking about different
projects and ideas and
we’re sitting on a plane,
both in first class,
and some guy walks
past and he’s like,
hey, I’ve read both
of you guys’ books!
And we’re like,
who’s was better?
(Dean chuckles)
And it was really–
– True story!
– And Dean starts
telling me this story.
He’s like, hey, I’m working
with Tony on this project.
And he starts going
through the whole thing.
And I was like, dude,
Tony doesn’t even do real
projects with anybody!
And he’s telling
me this whole thing
and I’m getting more
and more jealous.
– Oh, can I jump
in here one minute?
I just wanna tell you what this
guy does behind the scenes.
So, he’s like, you and
Tony are doing this thing.
Tony and I built a
software and a course
on how to extract your
knowledge and run masterminds.
– He’s like, I wanna
create a masterclass.
But for masterminds.
He said, instead
of buying a course
from Michael Jordan about
how to play basketball,
imagine going to
Michael Jordan’s house
and actually playing
basketball with him.
And he’s like, that’s
the difference.
And I was like, I get
it, and I was like,
what are you calling this thing?
And he’s like, oh, he had a
couple of different names.
I’m like, dude, you
should buy mastermind.com.
And he’s like, someone already
owns that, I can’t get it.
And I thought, oh,
that’s too bad.
That would’ve been amazing.
And then a couple of days later
I was thinking about his
idea and his project.
And I was like, I wonder
who owns mastermind.com.
So, I went to mastermind.com.
And sure enough there
was the site there.
It looked like it had
been fully developed.
And I was clicking
through the site.
I went to the About Me
page, it showed a picture of
the founders of mastermind.com.
And they we’re
literally holding a
2 Comma Club award
in their hands!
I was like, oh my gosh!
I have access to these people,
I can get a hold of ’em!
– So, here’s the cool part.
So, he tells me, you
should have mastermind.com.
It’s only a million
bucks, I’m like,
I don’t really wanna
spend a million bucks.
– I was like, no dude,
you have to have it!
Masterclass.com, mastermind.com,
you have to have that domain!
So, I’m like, Dave a
million bucks is too much.
See if you can negotiate.
So, Dave goes back to
negotiating with these guys.
And then, we had the idea.
– Do you wanna know this
guy, the way he plays?
He negotiates, buys
mastermind.com for 600 grand.
And gifts it to Tony and I.
(audience cheering)
I’m not done, I’m not done.
But he’s no fool!
Tony and I saw that reciprocity
and now we made him a partner.
(audience cheering)
Nice move!
– Dream 100 at its best!
Anyway.
It was one of those things
where it’s just like
you’re, wow, this
dream’s come true!
Something I hadn’t even
fathomed 12 years earlier,
or 10 years ago when
I was in this room.
To be not only friends
with Tony and Dean
but to be business
partners with them.
We launched mastermind.com.
It was the biggest launch in
the history of
internet marketing.
Doing over 38 million
dollars in sales
in a two week period of time.
The top 10 affiliates
is gonna fly with us in
Tony’s private plane to Fiji!
Insane!
(audience cheers)
It’s gonna be fun!
– Yeah.
– So.
– That’s why we’re
here on this trip.
That’s what we’ve been doing.
And that’s why the Dream 100
strategy is so important.
Looking back on it
it’s crazy to think
we used this strategy first
off to get in the door,
so that Tony knew who I was.
Second off to build
the relationship and
build a friendship.
And eventually to
build a partnership.
Right, it’s not necessarily
the fastest way to grow
a company, but it’s
the long-term strategy.
Tony always says.
– But most of us overestimate
what we’re gonna do in a year.
Then we get disappointed.
We underestimate what we can do
in a decade, or two, or three.
And that’s why very
few people fit there.
But I’m here, because this
young man has true integrity.
He really delivers.
I know you know that by the
passion that you have here.
The skill sets that
he gives you in there,
but also everything he
does is with integrity.
Which sounds kinda corny
and boring, but it’s rare.
So, I really wanna
acknowledge Russell,
and his lady, and his team,
for being the kind of people.
(audience cheers)

– Year number one if you
look in my Dream 100 strategy with
Tony would look like
a complete failure.
I met him for five
seconds and that was it.
Looking at it over a decade
now, it was a smashing success.
So, that’s why the Dream
100 is so important.
That’s why it’s important to
start planting those seeds now.
And if you do that now, today,
not tomorrow, not in the future,
not when you’re ready,
you start today,
you start planting those seeds,
it gives you the ability
in a year from now,
five years from now,
10 years from now,
to harvest those
seeds at a level
you never thought
was even possible.

How many walk on fire?
Great, you’re only born
with two human fears.
You were born with a
fear of loud noises.
Second fear you’re born
with is a fear of heights,
and every other fear
you have was learnt.
There’s candles on
your table right now.
You’re scared of them
’cause they’re hot,
but you learned
that fear of heat.
If you got a kid that’s
two or four years old,
they’re scared of the dark.
At under two, they’re
not scared of the dark
’cause they haven’t
learnt that yet.
At eight or 10, they’ve
unlearnt that fear.
The fears we have about am
I good enough, tall enough,
skinny enough, smart enough,
pretty enough, rich enough,
all of those fears are learnt,
but the other fear you’re
born with is fear of heights.
Everybody has it.
And so we’re gonna go
climb some poles tomorrow,
and do some cool stuff.
– [Man] All right.
– That’s all I’ve got.
– That was kinda vague on what
the poles and rope thing is.
(laughing)
– [Man] Get yourselves
in a circle,
we’re gonna conspire
to beat the other team,
to be quicker, to have more
fun, to have more energy,
to be more inspired.
Energy.
In your business, if you
bring energy and passion
to your business does
it change the game?
Yes or no?
– [Crowd] Yes.
– If you’re standing
here like “Holy (beep)”,
that’s probably not the
right energy you need
to bring to this experience.
In almost all of life, and
I learned this from Tony,
if you bring a sense
of fun and possibility
to anything you do, can you
guys make anything happen?
Yes or no?
– [Crowd] Yes.
– So get with your team.
In your team I’m gonna direct,
so get in a quick
circle right now.

– Let’s go baby, give me a jump!

– I’m so internally
petrified right now.

– Oh, one step at a
time, these are wobbly.

– Funnily enough, some people,
when they get on
top of the pole,
they see the trapeze,
and they think “Oh
what I’m supposed to do
is catch the trapeze”.
Some people in life
are chasing things
that they didn’t put
in front of them,
somebody else put
in front of them.
So if you get to
the top of the pole,
and you decide based
on where you’re at
in your life right now
that you need to stretch,
and you need to
push, and you need
to strive toward something,
great, go get the trapeze.
– Ready, alive, alert,
and enthusiastic.
(intense music)
– Okay, six and seven
should be getting geared up.
– Oh, I’m six.
– But for some of you,
you’ve already mastered
the science of achievement.
How many of you have mastered
the science of
getting (beep) done?
How many are gonna get
(beep) done, raise your hand.
So why are you here?
For some of you, the
bigger challenge will be
to climb to the top of the pole,
find your balance, do something
extraordinary, watch this,
do this, go (inhales),
look at the view,
and just take a damn
moment in your life.
Does that make sense?
For some of you
that’s your challenge.
And maybe not catch the
trapeze, but do this.

Let come up whatever
needs to come up.
There’s no right or
wrong, there’s no perfect,
there’s no do over, but
have a beautiful experience.

He’s had, Tony’s had
20 more years than me,
I don’t pretend that I’m
on the same level as Tony,
but second to Tony has not been
many people longer than me,
and done the revenue I do,
so between the two of us,
I think when we’re dead
someday and in 40 years
they’re gonna be like “Remember
when that shift happened
where people decided it was
okay not to go to college,
and it was okay to
do this”, right?
So everybody says “You
guys did that in 13 days”,
I said that last
night, it’s the truth.
It took us 60 years to
figure out how to do
40 million in two weeks.
You know?
But what I’d love to know,
and Tony asked me
this last night,
he goes “Did you ask them
‘What more could we do
for this group to help you guys
when we launch in February?'”
Cause you guys, you guys
really worked hard for us,
and we appreciate it,
and there’s a couple
things we’re doing.
This year besides Tony’s
dedicated to do more podcasts
than he’s ever done.
I’m gonna fly around the country
and do a podcast with
everybody I possibly can.
We’re also doing something,
Tony’s got the best
PR lady on the planet.
We’re gonna spend a
(beep) ton of money,
I kept talking about
omnipresent during the launch,
and we hit that just
like you wanna do
with your book launch.
We had eleven
hundred affiliates,
every feed you went on Facebook,
didn’t even matter if you,
every feed, everything
was about KBB,
every podcast that
launched was about KBB.
Every ad, it was just,
it was unbelievable.
This year we’re gonna
put in the element,
and we’re probably gonna spend
half a million bucks
on straight PR.
Get on the cover
of Fast Company,
get on the cover of Inc,
get on the cover of Success.
We’re strategizing that
right now, and the cool part,
Tony has access to all of that
and they all want it anyway.
So we’ll be on the
cover of everything,
and it’s all gonna
come out in February.
Tony’s so emotionally invested.
He’s in the Facebook
group non-stop
reading all these
positive comments,
The software, we
got, we’re spending,
I think we just got the bill,
the estimate is gonna be 620
grand on the software alone,
to build out all
these great features,
that I would want to
use for an X level.
So we’re gonna have a great
story on how we upgraded.
We’re gonna have, we’ll
be 25,000 people strong
by the time we launch.
But I just would love to know
what we could do for you guys,
if there’s anything we
could do to help you guys.
You were there for us, we
wanna give back to you.
But anyway, just remember
to keep freaking,
wherever you are just
keep pushing the notch up.
And, again, we were talking
yesterday and I meant that,
if you feel that you’re
a lifestyle entrepreneur,
it makes no difference,
sometimes I feel obsessive,
like every time I get
to a certain point,
I couldn’t spend the money I
have for the rest of my life.
I should be done, and I still,
I work like I’m a 20
year old and hungry.
I do, because I’m an
achievement based entrepreneur,
I just wanna keep
growing and achieving.
I have friends that I
love dearly that make
two and a half million
dollars a year,
and they don’t need a dollar
more, they love their life,
they golf four times
a day or they do
all the things they do.
For me, as long as I can be
a good husband, a good dad,
make an impact on the
world, the rest of my time,
I wanna just keep growing.
But maybe I’m obsessive,
maybe Tony’s obsessive.
Maybe half of you are obsessive.
Just identify either,
and if you’re a
lifestyle entrepreneur,
then do everything in
your power to anchor in
the right people, the
SOP’s, know your KPI’s,
be able to look in a glance to
be sure your company’s going,
and go travel the world.
Maybe be lifestyle entrepreneur
until you have kids,
and then you go
accomplishment based.
Just know that difference
because a lot of
this conversation
for someone like maybe
where you’re at Jenn
is like “I don’t wanna
do all that crazy (beep),
I don’t want 200 employees,
I don’t want a jet,
I just want to make 2
million bucks a year”
and that’s great, and once you
identify that then you know.

– Hey everybody, this
is Russell Brunson,
and today we’re talking
about sales funnels tutorials
for beginners, and to do
that I want to show you guys
my very first sales funnel
I built as a beginner.
In fact, this is a picture
of me here on the slide.
This is me with my shaved
head making a potato gun.
This is the very first, one of
the very first landing pages
for howtomakeapotatogun.com
and there’s a doodle
of me shooting potato guns
’cause I am a potato gun expert,
but we’re gonna talk about
just the basic concepts
behind a sales funnel because
I think at first people get
all complicated, like oh, it’s
gonna be really difficult,
it’s gonna be hard, but
I want you to understand
this is really, really simple.
So here is an actual potato gun.
I don’t know if you can see
it on the camera or not,
but we’re gonna walk
you guys through this.
When I first created this
with my buddy Nate Plohn,
I was going to college at the
time, I was trying to figure
out like how do I make
money on the Internet,
and someone said you should
sell information products.
I was like, that’s awesome,
but I don’t know anything
about anything, and then that
weekend was spring break,
and Nate and I went
and we made potato guns
and had a great weekend,
and then fast forward
to like the next Monday,
I’m back in school,
sitting there kind of like
doing the bored school thing,
and all of a sudden I
was like wait a minute,
I know how to make
a potato gun now.
That’s information, can I
create a product about that?
And so I was freaking
out, I went online.
At the time, there’s a
website you could search
to see how many people were
searching for different keywords
and there were 18,000
people a month searching
for the phrase how to make a
potato gun or potato gun plans
or spud gun plans, and
nobody had a product,
and I was like light bulb,
I’m gonna make a
product teaching that.
So I got Nate, we went
down to Home Depot,
we got a video camera out,
we filmed this whole thing,
and we made our very
first, very first product,
and I put it online and I
didn’t know how to sell anything
so I just had like
a basic website.
The website was like hey,
come and buy my thing,
and then I went to this
thing called Google.
You guys may have heard of it
before, and on Google they had
these things right here,
and on the side there were
these ads, and so I would
pay for the Google ad,
someone would click on the
ad, they’d come over here,
they would see this thing,
and they’d be like oh my gosh,
I must buy this DVD so I can
learn how to make a potato gun,
and some of them would give
me money, and initially
when we first started selling
this, we were selling it
for $37 a piece, and so
people would buy that,
and that was my business, and
I remember putting the ads up
and I was spending
about $10 a day.
Let me do the math over here,
so I was spending $10 a day
in ads over here, and
from that I was averaging
about one sale a day, okay?
Now, as a college kid, I’m
looking at this and I said okay,
I give Mr. Google $10 and
then he gives me back 37.
That means I got $27
to put in my pocket.
Next day I gave Mr. Google
$10, he gave me back 37,
I put 27 in my pocket,
and I kept doing this,
and I was like I am
the smartest man alive,
and then something
evil happened.
The guys over at Google
decided they wanted
to make more money, and so
they changed their algorithms.
I’m not gonna get into
that, but they changed
their algorithm, and
so no longer was it
like I spend $10 and I make 37.
Instead, I started spending $10.
Excuse me, like my ad cost
went up so I started spending
$50 a day to make
one sale, okay?
Now I’m not the sharpest
tool in the toolbox,
but I gave Google $50
and they gave me back 37,
and I was like wait, I lost
money, and then I gave them 50
and I lost 37.
That’s three or four days,
I’m like wait a minute.
This game sucks, I’m losing,
and so I turned my ads off.
I’m like I can’t play this
game, and I remember being
frustrated, and one day I
got a call from my friend,
and my friend had a
similar business to me.
He said, hey Russell, I
think I figured it out.
I said, figured what out?
He’s like, I stopped, and he
didn’t call it the funnel,
he’s like I created this
thing called an upsell.
He called it an
OTO, one time offer.
He said, what I did is
that every single person
who bought my product, I then
upsold them something else,
and I was like, well
why would I do that?
He’s like, well, have you ever
been to McDonald’s before?
I’m like yeah, and he’s like,
well you know how you go
to McDonald’s and you go
through the drive-through
and you’re like, hey, I
want to order a Big Mac,
and the dude’s like cool, do
you want to super size it?
Do you want fries
and a coke with that?
And he starts
offering you upsells.
I’m like yeah, and he’s like
if you look at the math,
he’s like, McDonald’s actually
loses money selling a Big Mac
but they make all their profit
when someone buys the fries
or the Coke.
I was like, okay.
He’s like, right now,
you’re losing money
selling your potato gun DVD.
You just gotta sell these
guys fries and a coke
and then you’ll be
profitable, and I was like,
I still don’t quite get it.
He’s like, if someone buys this,
like what’s the next
thing you can do?
If you were trying
to serve this person,
what’s the next thing you
could serve them with?
And I said well, when someone
buys the DVD the most annoying
thing is now they have
to go to Home Depot
and they have to buy the pipes,
and they have to cut them,
and like all this stuff
to make this amazing gun,
and he said, well what if
instead of you telling them
to go buy the stuff, what
if you upsold them a kit
that did this whole thing?
I have no idea if this is gonna
show up on the camera or not
but I thought it looked kind
of cool, and so he said,
make an upsell where
you sell them the kit.
So here is,
here is the kit, so I did some
math and I started calling
around and I found these
guys in northern Idaho
who actually made potato
gun kits, and I would spend,
I would start selling
these for $197,
and now this became my
very first funnel ever.
Again, I didn’t know it was
called a funnel at the time,
but someone come,
they click on the ad,
they would see my DVD,
they would buy my DVD.
On the next page, our upsell
says hey, the DVD’s coming,
do you want me to ship
the pipes with you too
so it’ll save you some time?
Just $197, people are like
that would be fantastic,
and they’d click the button
and they would buy it, okay?
Now, what happened, if you look
at the math, was interesting
is that Google didn’t
change their ad costs.
They still were charging
me $50 a day, right?
So that didn’t change, but
I came here and I spent $37,
so I lost some money, but then
what happened is that one out
of three people who bought
the DVD would buy this, right?
So let’s say I got a bunch
of clicks over here, boom,
and say there’s three people
right here that bought the DVD.
One of these people then
would go and buy this.
For every DVD I sold, so I
made $37, 1/3 of those people
bought this, so I take
$197, I divide it by three.
If I do the math on
that, that’s $65.
So if I take $65 plus $37,
seven plus five equals 12,
nine, 10, 102.
So now I was making $102
for every single person
that bought the DVD,
does that make sense?
‘Cause one out of three
bought the kit as well, okay?
So now I was on Google, I
was paying $50 a day in ads,
but I was making, on
average, $102 a day.
I put $50 in, I got $102 back,
okay, and all of a sudden,
I started looking, I was
like I am the smartest
man alive again.
I spent $50, I get back $102,
and so I was back in business,
potato gun sales were cranking,
I was having a good time,
and then I realized wait a
minute, potato guns are good,
but the market’s
like this little.
Like what other markets
could I do this with?
And I started
thinking, I said well,
what if I did this
in speed reading?
I met a guy who was the world’s
fastest reader, Howard Berg,
and so we set up a funnel for
speed reading and it worked,
and we said, what if we did
this in the dating market?
And I found someone who
was a dating expert,
we plugged it in.
What if we did this
with supplements?
What if we did?
And we started doing this, and
the funnels obviously tweak
every single time, but
the concepts are the same,
and I became obsessed, and over
the next five or six years,
I launched over 100
different funnels
in 100 different markets
and became obsessed with it
and it became so much fun,
but this concept of a funnel
works in any business, and
so what I want you guys
to understand is this is
how simple it really is.
It’s not some complicated thing.
Sometimes we get
all complicated.
It’s very simple, so like we
buy an ad to sell something.
Somebody buys that thing,
then what’s the next logical
thing they need?
Well, if they bought a potato
gun, the next thing they need
is they need a potato gun kit,
and that becomes my funnel,
and that’s kind of what
we take people through.

last year and we’re here again this is
year number five how many guys is your

think overall I was really nervous ahead
of time that nobody was gonna show up
but we opened the doors it was it was
packed and we filled the whole room that

I’d like to introduce is the reason that
we are all here this weekend about eight
months ago he brought to the marketplace
something that we all desperately needed
the ability to make professional-looking
sales funnels in a matter of hours as
opposed to months clickfunnels has had

day Wow is right and you know what was
right exactly you don’t get that you
don’t get to experience that you don’t
get to have that if the product that
you’ve created isn’t awesome isn’t what

every step first got started I didn’t we
didn’t have a name for it we never
called it that but basically I wasn’t
like a amazing business person or that
creative or anything so I was just
looking what everybody else was doing to
make money when I first got started I
saw people like arm and more and I saw
they did so I just modeled that like as
close as I could because it was working
the true story is that I I was wrestling
I just met my my wife we were engaged I
had to figure out a way to pay the bills
so the logical choice for me was to look
online just figure how to make money
right this is 12 years ago
and I started looking at I start seeing
all these people who were super smart
making a bunch of money like I was
watching these guys create these
products and they were selling and I
remember like their sales letters were
so good I bought every single one of
them and I started seeing all their
processes and so I went and I I hired
this dude from from Romania and he built
my first idea was this little product
called zip Brander and then I looked at
Arman’s websites and he always had these
little covers and so I hired something
low cover and then he had a headline so
I wrote a headline and then in his head
or he always had a picture of him in a
suit tie so I wouldn’t got a picture me
in a suit and tie but I just made a look
as close to his as possible because like
he was the dude was making a bunch of
money I was watching right and because
I’d followed his process it started
making money eventually I went from this
college kid who wasn’t you know didn’t
have a job not that educated just trying
to wrestle to within a year of
graduating from college I made over a
million dollars in sales it wasn’t for
me being a genius of business it was for
me looking at people were successful in
modeling him that’s kind of how I got
started
to understand like where funnel Hawking
live came from you have to go back in
time my memorize going to school I was
making money by my senior year I made
like two hundred fifty thousand dollars
online like selling stuff and I remember
my mom like being so nervous like we
should plan what’s your job gave me what
he gonna do am I making money online I
said I know but like when that’s done
like what’s your plan like what’s your
backup plan like you know that was the
big the big thing in fact I remember
back then it wasn’t me people went
online to consume stuff acknowledge
information that you’re still like the
school systems traditional is away
nowadays fifteen years later you see
where most people it’s like if you want
to learn something you don’t go to
school it’s like who create the course
who’s the person wrote the book on
school learning directly at the feet of
the master right that’s what how we can
look at education today but it wasn’t
like that back then it was weird like I
remember the first time I saw an e-book
like he didn’t make any sense to me and
then for some time try his cell D but
people message me like like where’s
where’s the book I’m it goes ebook like
I don’t know that means mike means you
download it like why did I pay you then
I’m like because the words on the page
or might like and people couldn’t even
grass close before Amazon had the ebook
tries like physical books were the thing
in the digital stuff I get it took this
learning curve people understand like
why would I pay for something that’s
that’s not I can’t touch you know
I wasn’t the first person that tried to
build clickfunnels or I’ll click funnels
in fact my first one was called click

I had six programmers spend three years
on it and it never saw the light of day
that’s when I met Todd dickerson he was
like no I think I can do it it’s like
all right man well good luck with that
like you really want to spend the next
year of your life trying to be like like
that’d be awesome
and I knew Todd was a good I don’t know
how how amazing was but he literally
they took some of the sketches and the
diagrams the ideas we had and he locked
himself in his bedroom in his closet
every was that and in like six months he
built a very first version of
clickfunnels
we’d know what cook fellas gonna become
we thought it was gonna be something
awesome but we maybe still made most of
our money doing the informations when we
launched clickfunnels initially we
launched this thing and it was
interesting because software without the
information didn’t actually do anything
we launched it and it was like hitting a
brick wall it was like crickets like
nobody got it nobody understood it was
just the weirdest thing I’m like people
don’t know what we created for me if I
could soothe I’m just explaining this is
why this is so important like it would
change everything but like it just
couldn’t get traction about the same
time I’d started my very first book
which is calm secrets and I was like I’m
gonna get this book done because people
read the book almost like a manual like
here’s the strategy guide how this thing
works it was crazy how the book launched
people got the book they read it in
Austin right oh that’s why I need the
funnel that’s why this is so important
it’s like I know it so we had now like
the this book which was like the
training manual to help you
strategically understand then the tool
to let you easily do it and this is the
book and the software together that’s
when I start taking off people read that
than like okay I get it and then maybe
the software to actually execute on it
I wish I could say that this is all
strategically designed to the beginning
but it wasn’t and what’s funny is that
our keep the little community we had the
time it was Facebook group probably had
two or three thousand people over this
time they start call themselves fellow
hackers like they started using that as
a term like people come and I hate my
fellow fellow hackers we had a question
for you and like he kept saying that I
was like this is cool like they’ve got a
name for themselves and they’d heard me
and Todd talked about these little
hackathons nice to do like nice – he’s
all my hackathons to get stuff done
like hey let’s do a hackathon and so we
get these little groups around the
country people do in like two and three
person meetup hackathons that’s like hey
this is so cool like this is happening
without us trying to engineer this thing
and they’re doing their own little
events things happening and it’s like we
can just let them keep doing it or like
what if we facilitated that people’s
kept asking keep asking me and finally I
was like ah all right let’s let’s go for
it was legitimate it’s like what we call
him in you know our people our funnel
hackers we’re gonna like live together
and then that was the name I was like
that’s that’s it I’m Hawking like let’s
just call it that it was awesome so I
appreciate you guys I remember my first
seminar Valente I’ve dreamed about doing
seminars we tried for a bunch of years
then we gave up a sort of Brent and John
that we would never do another seminar
again I’m grateful we did and just
grateful for you guys for executing and
making it making it all happen so thank
you and it’s amazing so thanks you guys
I had a number of people talking about
like I said they were to be part of the
first year we look back six years from
now it’s like sixth annual I can say
that I was at the first one yes asking
I’m kind of behind the scenes so I was
the technical co-founder when we started
clickfunnels Russell’s the marketing
cell side of the company the coaching
and the events while I’m the guy running
the actual software business and running
everything behind the seats and when
it’s already clickfunnels with Brussels
just me and him so I was working out of
the basement basically so we grew a
little bit and we decided to expand and
get an actual office get out of my
wife’s hair at the house all day every
day right so we’re gonna reek dig dig
dig dig dig dig dig for you that was
more user signing up on tour going down
or the other hopefully it’s not down so
funnel hacking live started as the
clickfunnels user conference I guess you
would say but it’s really grown to
something much bigger now big
differences between the different types
of events that I’ve been to at least so
you’ve got user conferences which tend
to be more technical hands-on this is
how you can use this software in this
industry to accomplish this goal

those events kind of tend to be boring
usually like you end up seeing a lot of
people just networking in the hallway
personal development internet marketing
conferences are kind of the other side
of the equation that we see a lot of
like getting excited about methods and
stuff but there’s not really like
hands-on training necessarily oftentimes
there’s people selling courses to learn
more and that kind of thing whereas I
think we’ve taken kind of the best of
both worlds and mesh them together for
funnel hacking live where we’ve taken
and we do hands-on stuff we teach you
useable real-world things that you can
do right now with our software and with
our products to actually grow and
progress your business but we also come
in with the motivation and the
excitement and the culture and the
community around you we’re ready for you
to show us

my name is Melanie Niven
I am Russell’s executive assistant and I
plan all of our events I don’t have a
title for that but I pretend it’s
director of events since they took black
red and blue markers
there’s fatties and small like regulars
so I’ll grab mine and bring mine as a
backup to be safe so when I started
working for Russell I didn’t get a job
description I just came in and did what
I thought he needed help with and then a
month later I was asked to plan the rest
of their final hiking live event for San
Diego and just keep teasing people about
that from San Diego on to where are we
Nashville this is the hardest part for
sure getting concepts out but I was like
brute force I’m like getting into a
thing so if like mentally I would say
I’m probably 90% done physically or
probably 20% times it works out all the
time though Russell getting his
presentations done is the most stressful
for me because I like to make sure he
has that time blocked out but he usually
works on them a week or two before the
event so it’s fresh in his mind and I
understand that like the first year I
did this event I died we’re out of white
border my board whiteboard whiteboard
these are all maxed out we got an order
dual space we got dual space it’s gone
here my desk is the nightmare
everything’s clumped up think 8000 tabs
open and none of my six presentations
are done
all of them are partially done none of
them even close to done and we are six
days away today the event starts a week
from today but the good news is
apparently there’s another whiteboard

all right it’s all about what’s a
million so we just find the whole man
and there’s some big changes you’re
probably gonna kill me plant all right
what that said one thing before you too
deep on this we’re pretty deep it’s
happening on Wednesday should I tell her
or not all right so we’re thinking is to
get everything done want to do I love
this part of my job too it takes me away
from just like the everyday life of
being in an assistant and this is kind
of bring some like razzle dazzle to it
the only way to keep organized for me
that I know that I’m fully responsible
for is in here all of our team members I
list them out I take all their names
their job title I figure out what their
event role is and then who they report
to at the event and then what their role
is for day one through four these are
some of the items that we were
responsible for shipping out so like
pins and chap sticks and hand sanitizer
staff shirts renewal shirts action XMD
t-shirts our event guide our wristbands
our backpacks like everything you think
of that has our logo on it or has
something to do with the event that is a
print job and our design team is doing
that so that’s why I like to try and get
that stuff started earlier versus later
I don’t think if we didn’t have these
spreadsheets that we would die like
every week for hotel reservations you
have to go through make sure the hotel
has the right check-in days check out
the aides name and the type of room so I
just want to go through a few like
last-minute things for funnel monkey
life has says the 18th but we need to
update that so it shows the 17th ok
because I think they’re believing in oh
yeah yeah send me like who
I don’t know if it’s like a wife and kid
you know what I mean so I’m waiting to
hear back that’s the only outstanding
one I have right now it’s all gonna work
out I always do it says I’m just getting
a little nervous yeah just let me know
what I can do to help yes you can
so shirts and make sure bottoms last
minute my name is miles Clifford and I
am the events manager at quick Falls
that’s well after last year’s phone
hacking live I took over the events team
so it’s taking you know Russell’s idea
and his concepts and Dave and the other
partners their what their vision is for
funnel hacking live and executing on
that vision so whether that’s food and
beverage is to the hotel rooms to the
staging the lighting the experiences
that people have at the hotel during the
event off the event that’s what the
events team does what really helped with
this event was he going and seeing the
site Melanie a couple other team members
came down here did a site visit when you
don’t do that you’re going in blind and
you never want to go into an event why

there’s chandeliers
so Russell’s in trouble right now
Melanie is grounding him because like
the little temper tantrum from her
russell brunson over here what I have to
do six presentations Oh Russell what do
you have to last Monday at the same time
16 drops how many done none but give
yourself credit why’d you get done

most people go out and just pay for a
lot of speakers to randomly come in for
us what we really want is we want part
of our community people have had success
and who are doing things in a unique way
that would be of great value to the rest
of the audience that really helped them
get whatever that next step might be for
them but also we want to make sure that
basically lines with us in the direction
that we’re trying to go with the event
as well hey Stacy
I was so impressed with what you and
Paul presented at our inner circle and
Russell I were talking
it’d be awesome if you could actually
present the same type of thing to our
funnel hacking community if you could
kind of talk about some of the cool
stuff you guys do for a relationship
transformation standpoint but then also
really dig in deep as far as how do you
actually connect with your audience
blocks me back let me know if that works

so Russell will cast the vision overall
as far as what’s the event going to be
focused on and with that there’s certain
people that we’ve kind of lineup that
will be specific to that and then I have
the opportunity now to a lot of those
people and signing the contracts getting
them on board and really developing
those relationships that help us not
only just for the event but long term as
well hey Steve all right but got a huge
favor for you if you don’t mind I’m sure
you won’t but we’d love to have you
speak at I like it is I take a look at
building a speaking of team for an event
you can definitely bring in big people
and have their name and everything else
in helps for some credibility but
there’s no greater social proof that
people are using your product who are
having success doing what you’ve been
preaching in their own unique way in
their own niche and thing I love that
funnel hacking live is I take a look
over the last few years some of the
speakers we’ve had on would be people
you normally wouldn’t expect to see on
stage and you’ve got my gosh if he can
do it or she can do it I know I can’t do
so over the course of four days we
typically will have anywhere from 10 to
14 speakers in addition that Russell
speaks himself four or five times we
really try to to gauge energy levels
throughout the day some of the things
we’ve always tried to do is either bring
in a comedian or we brought in rappers
or bringing in the Phantom of the Opera
and they sing on stage just trying to
find different ways of really playing
with the energy level of the audience
and it’s amazing to see the impact that
has on their ability to learn and also
their ability to actually implement what
they’ve learned I would encourage anyone
else who’s looking at having a keynote
speaker not to be afraid of spending big
money to get the right keynote speaker
there it’s amazing to see the impact
that it has on the audience and they
feel so connected because they know that
you care about them that you are willing
to spend the money to bring someone big
in Russells I don’t know if you truly
know what you got yourself into here
I’m gonna tell them a little story of
how you and I started to work together
you saw me speak it Joe polish isn’t
that right do you remember like coming
up to me afterwards and you were like oh
my god that was amazing these speakers
funnel hacking they’ll be awesome I’m
like sure great I’m like do you know my
fee and yes I got no problem and I’m
like okay cool so gave you my card
you’re like we’re gonna do this so a
couple of weeks go by after Russell and
I talked about presenting at his event
and and I’m like dude this is gonna
happen he’s like yeah yeah um there’s
just this thing I go love it
he’s like well what brought in another
speaker we brought in a big famous
speaker and like we don’t have the
budget to bring you in now and I’m
thinking like how is that my problem
and I said well do you listen I don’t
speak that off and anymore
that’s my fee I would love to be there
for you
maybe next year and that was that was it
remember that it was very clear and I
get a text message a few hours later
from this adorable clean-cut Mormon
right and he just writes me screw it
I’ll pay out of my own pocket let’s do
this and I’m like that’s awesome that’s
awesome because what I saw some Russell
in that moment was devotion not
commitment but devotion when you are
committed to something you’ll still fall
down when you’re devoted you won’t when
something hits you when you’re devoted
you crush it thank you for your time I

there’s nothing more fun in the office
than to see that’s to kind of come up
with who would be the ideal person who’s
that dream person we want to get and
then they said anyway we could really
get them where we got Tony Robbins it’s
like no wait we actually got Tony
Robbins who was a person that Russell
spent years just networking with and
providing value to Tony Ramos it’s a
huge celebration when we’re able to land
that big fish in yet

I realize how important having a theme
would be initially cuz we didn’t have
one it was funny live and we recover in
attack funnels together I remember
sitting down and writing the headline
for I think the third funnel hockey live
and I remember thinking the concept of
like your one funnel way for being rich
like oh that’s so cool like what
everyone believed that one for like
being rich I’ve been writing the
headline and looking out for a minute
sitting back and be like seem so shallow
like if universe is cool that’s the way
most people to do it maybe initially but
most people wanted because the impacts
I’m like hey well you’re one fun away
from changing the world that’s like oh
that’s really cool but my god that
speaks to the people that are impacted
her from some people it’s not some
people just hate their job that’s where
I get free like hey you one fun away
from firing your boss I’m like ah I
deleted everything and stuff one final
way I’m trying to think try to think and
then I kept looking at that I was like
every different for everyone
like the result they want is gonna be
different but this is the tool that gets
in that result
I said wonderful way that that’s that’s
the theme that’s the concept and so the
last couple funnel lines that’s been the
theme ever your people what’s the new
theme I’m like no that’s the theme like
this is a recurring theme like this
process for all of us you guys isn’t
upping it down like it’s it’s always
happening and all of you guys are
somewhere in this wave right now right
some of you guys are at the top writing
it some you guys are at the bottom in a
crash somewhere in between and there’s
always going up and down but if nothing
else of this event like I wanted you
guys to all understand the like no
matter where you are there’s hope it
might not be this funnel my mind I can’t
tell you how many funnels flopped at the
guarantee I have failed at more funnels
than anybody else in this room because
of that we found out what worked the
only way to do that is to do it over and
over and over again
and it’s a lot easier now I promise you
so much easier than what we used to do
and that’s why this tool is so important
because you can do that you can test you
can try over and over and over again and
so people are trying to think of a theme
and really comes back to like what’s the
end result you’re trying to get for your
customers coming to that like what is
the thing that they’re looking for
what’s in everyone comes to her from
purpose to different reasons and somehow
your event is a vehicle to get them
there and so how does how does it do
that like that so you got to figure out
I kind of have a button niche to where
if I scroll too much and I don’t see
blue oh my god I need a button my name
is Jake Leslie I handle all the design
for clickfunnels
I’m Nick Sanders and I build the funnels
I manage all the process behind making
the funnels and coordinate the team get
everything ready the funnel hacking live
funnel is probably one of our biggest
funnels that we make every year all the
pressures on us to perform and to make
it awesome one mistake on a funnel
building site or anything could
literally cost us millions and millions
of dollars my design concept basically
was based off of if I was sitting in
funnel hacking live looking at that
stage what would be my perspective of
actually seeing that and so we’re trying
to kind of grab that energy throughout
the page itself so the user kind of gets
that experience before even the event
starts so going from Russell to copy to
design to funnel building to testing to
implementing and that flow makes a huge
huge difference because I know that if I
have copy and video that I can kind of
base my design off of that energy that
that’s giving me a big design tips that
I really really abide by is one keeping
on brand making sure you’re staying
consistent consistency is everything all
my headlines are the same all the
buttons are the exact same color there’s
no other distracting factors and that’s
the biggest thing is getting people
excited about the event that’s why we
start with the big sales page we always
put the promotional video at the start
to get people super excited looking at
the previous year and so they get
excited to read more about what’s coming
in this
late nights and you’re sitting there
working and you know you just feel like
you can’t push anymore this is one fun
way one fun way that rings true and your
head to be like man what if I just make
one thing that’s gonna work one funnel
that’s gonna actually work when you go
down a sales page the audience from the
top to the very bottom diminishes were
very very rapidly one key thing is a
date and the button above the fold so I
can see clearly see the call-to-action I
can read the label of the copy I know
exactly what I need to do to opt in
because we scroll down the page you’ll
consistently see that same button as you
go through almost creating a habit to be
like okay that’s all right click that’s
where I click that’s right click it goes
back into basically the strategy of a
funnel what does the goal of a funnel is
to guide your customer to your specific
goal that you want them to do whereas a
website is super distracting and your
customers have no idea what’s going on
being able to use click funnels is a
huge advantage events are crazy crazy
stressful to begin with this is the last
thing you want to worry about once the
funnel is done you’re good you can go
off and spend months focusing on your
event this will just make money for you
so it’s a vending machine online

amazing the other activity from there
only takes one way I deal one big thing
that’s implemented there’s just one
funnel way from having the life they’ve
always wanted

my background is filming like cultural
festivals and stuff like that unique
experiences around the world so going
into an event space you know in a hotel
room not that cool so I threw my little
seasoning on it and sent it off to him
and turns out he liked it it all started
with when Russell said bringing magic
now as a production company our goal is
to bring the magic every single day
clickfunnels Studios is producing
contents for everything fun lacking life
being one of the biggest basically we’ve
studied and watched every single other
event film that’s out there we study
after movies for electronic music
festivals and see what they’re doing we
study music videos lighting color so we
can add it to the elements so we have an
after movie that has a very distinct
feel when we’re growing up we learn a
lot of things about life from life that
are just not true
six days a week one day off a week one
week off every six months and I wish I
had someone to educate me that college
was gonna bring me food stamps with
clickfunnels it’s the goal to be the
pattern interrupt it’s funny I talk
about like people should be funnel
hacking and modeling people write when
the first person does something it is a
pattern interrupt so it works really
looks and what happens next and then all
the people who saw like oh my gosh does
amazing they start modeling and they
start doing austin like it was your
doing and I was like ten people doing
the twenty then there’s a pattern
interrupt becomes the pattern and so
then like what you’re doing is long
effective has ever seen the same thing
so for me it’s always like I’m trying to
see it fast and implement it or trying
to invent or whatever that is because
I’m those creative risk or what caused
the biggest swing right the first person
to do it is the biggest pattern
interrupt
will become the pattern eventually so
for me I still think the most important
thing is for interviews when you are
recording interviews for your event you
need to get real sound bites most people
are just looking for those conventional
this event was amazing this is gonna
take my business to the next level it’s
all the same and I feel like that’s one
of the biggest mistakes when people are
hiring filmmakers for their events the
interviewer does not know the product
does not care about the people and
therefore they can’t have a real
conversation where as we go in and we
know exactly communicate with these
people at the end of the day it’s a
conversation we want to hear their story
how they got there what this event
really means to them who is that one
person that they met that’s gonna change
their business what is that one piece of
information that one nugget or something
that they’re gonna go home and be able
to implement like we want them to
naturally tell us what they got out of
this so our interviews do not feel like
normal interviews they feel like we’re
just conversing
when I joined it all started with just
producing the videos or the funnel that
was the main selling point but now as
the event grows we need countless
retargeting ads for people that need you
know seven eight touch points before
they make a big decision to go to a live
event in order to do that we need to get
extra creative with ways that we’re
gonna disrupt people from the day-to-day
and remember that funnel hacking lives
coming and they better get their tickets
that’s where the creativity of the whole
team comes together and we sit around
brainstorming and then come up with the
most absurd ridiculous funny creative or
emotive ways that we could get people on
board someone wants to create like an
entire hyperlapse video and show off the
event space as a whole of what people
are gonna visually see when it comes to
the hotel great

someone says they want to make a planet
Earth parody and hired David
Attenborough a fiver to do a voiceover
about the funnel Haxorus
cool we do that the door swing open the
haggis spring into motion fall Kingdom
30 miles per hour you know race to seat
supremacy if someone hears in a
testimonial that you know the person
says oh come on Hawking live is where
you come to get the fire like the room
on fire so far hacking live is the place
that people come to get the fire

these are all fire layers around 134
layers and then there’s a second nested
sequence and this one has 63 layers that
in total about 420 layers yeah math math
I think of all the things that we do I
think Funaki Maya is probably the most
important most valuable thing that we
produce we put on but the problem is
this also of everything we sell is by
far the hardest thing to sell you think
about software information products that
gets like an impulse buy right with this
it’s not impulse buy because someone’s
got to go and they have to get work off
and they’ve convinced their spouse they
have to find babysitters for kids they
gotta flights and hotels and there’s so
many more decisions they’re made not
just one and so for us it’s like a
constant grind I sell tickets every year
how are we gonna sell 4,500 tickets how
are we gonna sell 600 dicket’s how are
we gonna sell you know 2,000 tickets and
it’s just always an impossible task that
ends up happening I’m John parks and I’m
the VP of traffic at clickfunnels and
what that means is that I’ve run all the
advertising and the social media and
then a whole department to make sure
that there’s always lots of excited
people coming in the doors
website retargeting this is if they
watch a Porsche yeah yeah yeah so yeah
so once they once they opt in or become
become your data and we you know we did
some really fun things one thing we did
was um a telethon where we set up a
table full of of our customer support
agents with telephones and we actually
had a full telephone system going and
broadcasted this streaming live since we
don’t have a TV station we did it live
into our Facebook channels and into our
YouTube and it was Russell teaching just
fantastic content and the whole time was
like if you like what we’re teaching
here you’ll definitely like funnel on
King Live cuz that’s even more of the
same value so that connection was really
strong and then we’re just giving away
tons of prizes this is one of those
things that could be like the most
brilliant a marketing idea in the
history of marketing as we know it that
was really fun and not only did we sell
a good block of tickets during the
telethon we were able to reuse that
recorded video of the telethon
I’m overtime to sell a bunch more
tickets but as we know there’s very few
people who will just buy a thousand
dollar ticket in the drop of a hat
and so we do retargeting was gonna be
our biggest strategy so coming back in
front of them and give
more reasons of more understanding or
more emotion to get them to actually buy
that ticket right so we went for 10 days
and then we just stopped at logic
emotion scarcity urgency those are the
kind of the spectrums we were hitting so
it was really fun my gosh anytime you
can sell tickets and have fun doing it
and get the whole the cool thing is just
remember it’s your culture standpoint I
mean people are the ones who invent new
marketing and she bring it out and it
was like like Jim Edwards Texas think
that was awesome so I think we the top
of our game right now and everything we
do is like unique and innovative and
people seem like whoa they usually dice
doing this you see traffic inversion
like no this was discounted tickets lose
this can we increase the value of
discounted price so that’s the
difference our first event that I did I
think costs us maybe half a million
dollars if that to where now you know
just the food bill is half a million
dollars enjoy the cuz it’s it’s not
cheap I am Clint Adams I am the director
of accounting and finance officially on
the org chart though my title changes
depending on what I need to and who I’m
talking to
but we went from registering 600 people
my first year to all 4,000 or more this
last year and we’ve gone from
essentially a half a million dollars to
over 2 million as we’ve grown the event
we’ve probably quadrupled our costs
mostly the hotel so San Diego was
selected before I came into the role but
I know that there was a lot of internet
marketers down in San Diego and it’s an
easy flight for us the location was
perfect it was a beautiful hotel right
on the marina there and the hotel size
was perfect like we just took over
pretty much the whole hotel in event
space and it was a fun first event to
put on
then we went to Dallas and Dallas was a
location we wanted to try just because
it is kind of like in the middle a
little bit more and the space to fit
2500 people too and we have dinners that
we did on-site and so we just needed to
make sure we were able to take over
plenty of that hotel and then from
Dallas we went to Orlando and the reason
why we went to Orlando is cuz we were
growing quite a bit bigger our concern
was we were gonna have to go to a
convention center and that’s not the
look I love like when I do an event I
want everyone to feel they’re somewhere
special if I went to a convention center
I’m putting him another two hundred
thousand dollars into an event that
needs to be made pretty when you get it
right off the bat at the hotel typically
our hotels maybe a little over a million
dollars we went from being the small
town
event trying to find people to please
help us throw this event to now we have
the audio/video crew they went from you
know 50 60 to now they’re several
hundred thousand dollars we’ve got
probably 4045 guys in here right now
on and off throughout the day we’ve got
about a thousand feet of truss close to
200 moving lights about 80 non-moving
static lights sixty five foot wide by
18-foot tall video wall a concert PA
coverage is gonna be a hell of a show
man

that’s gonna help create an environment
right it’s gonna create an environment
for all the attendees who are coming
here to learn and pick up knowledge over
the next few days it’ll be good I mean
listen it creates and it creates an
atmosphere it creates an energy
I’m sure you could disseminate a message
with just screens and projectors or over
the cases but you’re trying to create a
movement I mean how you can do it with a
webinar if that’s if you wanted to go
basic enough right but you’re trying to
create a movement get 4,000 people
motivated behind one one concept and
that’s what you’re gonna be able to do
with this room so I mean a lot of moving
parts in here it’s gone amazing every
dollar hotel right he’s got things you
have a home in Rio it’s a hotel does the
trust in the motor so everything else we
truck down today there were like six
53-foot trailers out of the pocket what
is happening just for context purposes
our very first event I don’t think we
had any rigging at all I think it was
like we didn’t there was no rigging we
had the definitely wasn’t two sets of
screen we had you know school board
behind the city does our son had a
Ferrari and bigger but hopefully it
still feels super into make is
everything it’s like seven and a half
times what we had the first time huge
we would’ve been able to scale to a
4,000 person or more event without sage
and so that’s been the one big cost the
amount of pressure or stress on us
knowing that we have the sage crew there
to support and help is helped us
immensely so my goal with you today is
just to give you some really macro level
overviews on what we’re going to do
together this week and give you some
context of what’s happening behind the
scenes because I think it makes your job
so much easier

almost always for our clients money is
almost secondary they really care about
impact so when I think about live events
and how we’re designing them the clients
we work with we’re always starting with
what kind of impact do we want to make
how are we going to design the coaching
program to deliver that and then how are
we going to reverse-engineer the live
event to deliver the coaching program
one of the things that I really liked
about how this event worked is even
though we were at this massive property
when you came into this event you
started to recognize little touches like
wait a second clickfunnels really is
here when you walked in and you start
talking to the people that you’re
interacting with at the front desk
they’re wearing clickfunnels hats the
TV’s behind the front desk are showing a
loop of previous clickfunnels events as
you start to walk to your room
there’s signage all over the place
that’s clickfunnels branding from our
perspective community building is one of
the most important things you do at a
live event everywhere they went we
wanted them to feel like yes for funnel
hackers we wanted them to be really
super psyched to be part of this tribe
and that was a big thing that we did
this year there was a lot invested by
Russell and the team in branding and in
print we’d never done anything to that
skill which was amazing I want to say
was 30 40 thousand dollars to get all
that done
a little more it’s all of a sudden like
you’re no longer at a Gaylord property
you’re actually at the clickfunnels
Hotel if you want to create a culture
and you want to create a community
branding isn’t just your logo whatever
you’re selling whether it’s your info
product or your actual physical product
if you want people to expect a high
perceived value of what you do you can
send that message by giving them high
quality apparel and promotional products
up front

my name’s Brandon pug Meyer and I am the
owner of a company called imprint City I
actually have been working with the
Russell’s team before clickfunnels began
of course back then the orders weren’t
quite as big we did t-shirts to begin
with and then we started doing long
sleeve t-shirts people wanted some
hoodies water bottles you know hats that
was pretty cool and then the backpacks
we sold out of them in the first day and
a half
one thing I’ve learned from Russell when
he was coming to me and asking for
options he originally is like hey we
want the most expensive t-shirts
available and I was showing him other
option he’s like no I want the best
quality the other thing I think that
that clickfunnels has done at first they
they had some messages on their shirts
that was really about clickfunnels the
messages have morphed to where the
message on the click funnel shirts is
the message that the client or the
customer the user of clickfunnels
it’s their message to and when you can
connect the message of your client in
your message it’s a homerun
a lot of companies put their logo on the
shirt and they give it out but when you
give out a shirt that’s actually hate
this is a shirt I want to wear because
this is my message this is who I am like
funnel hacker I’m a funnel hacker or a
lot of the shirts Russell does he’ll put
a manifesto on it that that kind of has
a philosophy behind it that the person
wearing it’s like that is cool I want to
wear that and so it sends this message
it’s not just click funnels message it’s
a shared message with the user and so
when you can combine the the company
message with the user message and you
put them into one it’s perfect surround
yourselves the dreamers the doers the
believers and the thinkers most of all
shouting stuff with those who see
greatness within you even when you don’t
see it yourself which is what family is
all about so some of the communities now
is you mean open yourself surround
yourself with amazing people who believe
in you one of the things that you guys
are best at we saw this last year is
just extraordinary customer care like
you care deeply you’re really committed
to the brand and to changing lives and
when you come into an event feeling that
way the attendees feel it and it makes a
huge difference what’s happening today
that’s really critical is registration
and this is one of your first touch
point moments the person who you’re
seeing at registration left behind a
family or a dog or kids or clients they
had to get on a plane or get in a car
they had to pack the bag there’s been
some sacrifice for them to get here they
may have also incurred delays that the
airport delays with the pick up delays
and checking into their room by the time
they get to you I promise you whatever
has stood in their way has started to
build up and be like I sure hope this is
worth it
I knew
this was a mistake I shouldn’t have even
have come this is going to be a whole
challenging week and we have to remind
them at registration that they made the
right choice like I really see
registration as right choice moment like
that kind of energy is welcome to the
family we’re so happy you’re here how
did you get here where did you come from
what made you decide to come for those
of you who are floating during
registration having those conversations
can be the difference between standing
in a dull line and having an enliven
conversation that reminded you of why
this is the right choice started oh my
goodness look at all those look at all
those people being sure we get a big
when attendees are coming in Robby’s on
the front lines if you don’t know Robby
summers she is the loudest person I’ve
ever met

I don’t know where he gets it from it is
wednesday fucking live we’re a draw our
employees feed off of that and then the
attendees feed off those employees and
they feed off of Robbie so rule number
one get a hike man or woman so once they
get past Robbie like then it’s our the
rest of our staff like our job is to
have that smiling face to keep that
excitement up we got to be like hey
you’re here for lacking life that’s so
amazing like registrations right down
there after that you’re gonna go get
your amazing swag bag check out this
shirt this is sure you guys are getting
this year you have to get that
excitement because they’ve gone through
a lot of stuff to get to that event so
you’ve got to get that energy up the
second they walk in the register you
know our whole goal and mission while
we’re at that event is to make it the
best experience for every single
attendee and if we’re not keeping that
energy up if we’re not excited if we’re
not pumped if we’re not loving what
we’re doing they sense that and their
energy falls so once you register all
these people come in they have their
name badge they have their swag bag they
now have their shirt like they’re ready
to go they’re sitting there they’re
hanging out the excitement keeps
building and building and building and
all sudden our registration that’s
supposed to be a boring process this
tiny process just to get them to the
event is now like one of the coolest
things they’ve seen less days zero like
we haven’t even started the event
they’re just jacked to be there and just
keeps growing and growing and growing
all sudden our doors are getting backed
up and backed up and backed up we got
people yelling louder and louder and
louder to communicate with everybody
telling them hey we’re gonna be open to
the door soon and then finally we get
that call it’s time hey knock on the
door from the inside we open it up
people reach and just rush in like crazy
everybody’s losing the mind their staffs
losing their mind me attendees are
losing their mind music’s blasting it’s
even louder than it was before
and literally all that starts from
registration it’s a boring simple
process but what it’s supposed to be
it’s not that way of fun or hacking

we start mid-day here on day one so
you’ve got more registration and then we
get to our opening and the opening is
where Russell will really kick it off
and set the tone for the event with the
help of Devon who’s gonna take the stage
first and get that crowd going this is
not about reading cue cards if you want
to get Bob from accounting to come on
stage and read a cute card because he’s
good at the Christmas parties hey you
have Eddie your vents probably gonna
suck I don’t mean to sound mean but that
that’s not what this is about
get on your feet and welcome to the
stage your emcee for the event my job is
to be the through line through the
entire event from start to finish so I’m
the very first person your audience sees
and I’m probably the very last person
they see before every speaker after
every speaker before every break I’m
giving them instructions and so if I
can’t build rapport with them then I
might as well not even try
the letters MC normally stand for master
of ceremonies I would say that my real
role is more like an MBE which is the
master of energy I want you to think of
me kind of like your event coach it’s to
be the through line from speaker to
speaker to speaker to speaker to speaker
to speaker to speaker it’s to tell the
audiences what you need to do here’s
where you need to be etc etc etc it’s to
say here’s how what this speaker is
speaking about here’s how this is
important to the entire event right
you didn’t tell Bob to do all that all
you told Bob was to do was introduce the
speakers so Bob is gonna go up and read
the cue cards reading cue cards is not
real management reading cue cards is not
feeling the room feeling what’s going on
being able to engage and have fun with
the crowd reading the cue cards is even
up for the last speaker our next speaker
is Mary and she wrote three books and
she’s really great give it up for Mary
well hell was that it was what you told
Bob to do so you can’t get mad at Bob
for that yeah that’s what I would say
about Bob from accounting when you hire
people who have the experience then what
you’re really paying for are all of the
things that you don’t know that you
don’t know they’re hiring for that very
first consultation that says stop right
there your schedule is off from the jump
because you said nine ten eleven twelve
and schedules don’t work like that

but I can laugh are you ready to get
this thing going you’re hiring somebody
to go out there read the energy in the
room realize that the last speaker was a
snooze and that’s okay because he or she
was talking about something very
technical cool not mad at that
throw the cue card out the window find
out the essence of what the speaker is
gonna speak about and communicate that
in such a way that wakes the audience to
hell back up that’s what you’re paying
for those are the intangibles those are
the oh my gosh I didn’t even know that I
needed that yes yes yes yes yes so like
you get what you pay for the most
important time for the event emcee 60%
of my work is done in the first 15
minutes on day number one the very first
time I go on stage that first 15 minutes
sets the tone for everything as I will
do an exercise with the audience where
I’m gonna say welcome to the stage and
what you’re gonna do is you have to
stand up and you have to go crazy and
you have to respond the way as if I’m
bringing you to the stage and showing me
how you would want the crowd to react
when you’re on stage and so we’ll do
that exercise and that starts me
training them so now the expectation is
set before the event kicks off that this
is how we introduce the speakers so it’s
trained so it’s trained so much that
even if I get to a speaker later on in
the day and I forget to tell them to
stand up they’ve already been trained to
stand up

I don’t believe in talent I believe with
habits and all of us can choose good
habits stop waiting to be happy start
generating happy decide I’m gonna do
this or I’m gonna die working on it but
stop letting yourself off the hook and
be willing to go down so you can go up
spend fifty dollars make 500 that’s the
funnel guys no we got more we got more
of it

the day that we had the idea for
clickfunnels we sat in a room for out a
week whiteboarding out the whole vision
of it and on the way taking him back to
the airport he was flying back home
where he lives in Atlanta he said one
thing before we got out of car he said
hey really quick though if we’re gonna
do this whole clickfunnels thing I don’t
want to be like an employee I want to be
your partner I remember being so scared
like I don’t know if I like I’m an
entrepreneur I control everything all
the time I was so scared and in that
moment I made the second greatest
decision in my life outside of marrying
my wife and I told him yes and that man
is Todd Dickerson who’s my co-founder
and partner and clickfunnels

stand up come on out oh man Wow so my
role going into funnel hacking live is
still very much behind the scenes other
than one presentation that Russell and I
do just about every year and we actually
talk about things that have happened
over the past year and things that we’re
planning to do going forward in the next
year Jeff rose event we always do a
presentation we call the quick final
State of the Union address I think that
most software companies events are
literally only focused on kind of the
State of the Union aspect like they get
up there and that’s all they talk about
they’re like okay we’ve got these
features we got this product this thing
we’re doing and then it’s like have a
good day see you guys that’s what Apple
does right leg Apple gets up on stage
here’s the things we’re releasing here’s
the timelines that you’re gonna see them
coming out see you guys later
everybody’s excited it’s cool but we
focus more on actually like the whole
experience can we say like oh so there’s
a problem and like here’s the solution
yeah but instead it’s like you ask the
problem
yeah and I cuz I’m like here’s a problem
we saw like and that’s how I was
phrasing it at first and I might but
that’s just a sound it sounds dumb yeah
let’s do that I’ll play like dumb like
oh well guess we’re guys what we’re
working on that that’s cool I like that
because I was a little concerned about
this cuz I’ll be going for like 120
slides like if you look at each one of
these features of clickfunnels these are
whole companies it’s all built-in to
work together and as fast as we expanded
we expanded in the number of users that
rely on this software
we’re running 77,000 companies not one
yeah no pressure right this is the thing
I need your help with you just talked
about some new features some new things
stuff they’re creating stuff they’re
thinking about stuff that’s already live
but I need your guys’s feedback to know
like what you want the most Stephen used
to have to scream real quick to show
your own views
yeah that’s what we need and the louder
the screams the more likely we are to
create that first cheer as loud as you
possibly can for the features you want
next and then we’ll prioritize based on
the loudness of the rooms that sound
fair it’s a good way to do a road map
right this sub-users project has to be
live at photo hacking live no questions
asked like we’ve promised it last year
if there’s anything that’s gonna block
us from actually making this in progress
turn to completed in the next few weeks
like we’ve got to make that happen so
see if there’s any other ones like that
that’s basically what we’ve got to go
through here and find out I always want
to focus on making sure users know that
we’re listening to them so we always we
take feature requests all year long we
listen to customer support requests it’s
connected everything’s done the event
gives us a chance to actually tell
people that we’re listening and show
them that we’re listening and we may
think that we have the best idea in the
world but that’s not always the case
sometimes we just need to listen to the
customers and hear what they’re saying
not by mistake day two is more of the
same and a typical sage event is three
days so I also look at this as like kind
of a bonus day of content connection and
community like our average host doesn’t
have the stamina for four days really
truly I mean I think Russell is a force
of nature alright so we just got staged
up day two of our can
I’m feeling a little sick super sore and
one of my friends told me that the best
thing to do when you’re on stage every
day is doing ice baths but I’m scare of
an ice bath so I called the manliest man
I know and said can you help me do an
ice bath I’ll be right there
I like psychologically move into it and
completely surrender and like sort of
gently scan your body and just let all
tension go yes and it’s like don’t be in
this very stressful situation for other
people but like you’re like training
your mind and your body and your nervous
system to remain calm and then you’ll
feel that the benefit efforts you’ll
have this like uplift and energy and
mood but it also translates to the real
life like things roll up your shoulders
more easily and stay more cool calm and
collect it because you’ve trained it it
really does like it’s it’s it’s two
minutes that pays dividends for
about 38 degrees right now oh my gosh
that was good at three that’s fine
you’re good find your breath out relax
your face

to do when you’re on stage for all those
hours right what we’re doing here to me
is a bonus day of extra content
connection and community because we’re
doing that same thing here and then what
we do at the end of day two is super
important it’s called round tables and
round tables much like rolodex are all
about connection and community because
what happens there is you have your
students your speakers your trusted
advisors in a room at a table and any
person can go sit down and ask these
superstars anything they want to but it
started off first year we all did a
hackathon back then it was people coming
in with their computer getting together
working on their funnels and having
support people there to help launch that
right day in real time my name is Brent
Koh Peters and I’m VP of coaching and
events at clickfunnels
gear to start around people and what it
is we literally have round tables in a
room and we invite some funnel hackers
I’ve had success to sit at a round table
and it allows for our members to build
come in and sit down and ask questions
to these experts these are all people
who have had success using our software
we thought you know what a better way to
have people be able to ask questions and
model what they were doing it’s a
refreshing ability to rub shoulders with
people who’ve been there they’ve gone
through what you’re going through and
they can empathize there’s a really
interactive experience

I’m also really good I’ve come through
cool I want to run by you it let me
never get a chance and come in and you
can mean about it people that we partner
are people who sell services or you’ll
help build funnels for folks come in and
they can be able to kind of explain what
they do and essentially offer their
services to the members of our community

just video work looking for somebody
builds funnels you’re looking for
somebody who can be a potential
accountant or someone to keep your books

that’s what people want they want a cool

like just social proof again like in
live music just warms up space it does
man live musics the best and even if
they suck at singing it’s still like
this is cool itself it was this one more
to getting one more touch that people
knew that we cared we thought about
something different yeah more lounges
more everything so it’s gonna be oh wow
what do you got there wow you have to
help your audience break their
four-minute mile
now 1954 Roger Bannister broke what
everybody thought was impossible the
four-minute mile like it wasn’t it
wasn’t possible wasn’t supposed to
happen right he did it and then what
happened after he did it people saw it
was possible in the night King he did it
I can do it okay and enough for me I had
a similar experience
I really day down this morning’s
wouldn’t forget August 17th 2004 was the
day that the 2-minute Meijer the forming
mile was broken for me I would just got
into this business and I was happy my
goal when I got started was $1000 my
$5,000 a month like that’s it like I’ll
be I’ll be free like my wife I go on
dates we could get a nice car like a
thousand bucks a month to change our
life our basement we’re hoping they have
some renters very soon very soon my
email address the time was money for
college at Juno calm and this email
popped in and it said subject line was
something like we did it I was like did
what and I click on this and it was
email from John Reese and John at the
time I had heard about this he was
launching a new course called traffic
secrets and an email he explained he
said look guys we launched
traffic secrets earlier today he sort of
broke down he said at 18 hours we had
sold a thousand copies at a thousand
dollars so that means we made a million
dollars in just 18 hours
I’ve ever sitting there like everything
around me just got quiet i sat back in
my chair and I was like he had a million
dollars a day
my goal was a thousand hundreds a month
this guy made a million dollars and I
know that was even possible but he did
it that’s like that’s my that’s Franco I
don’t make a million dollars a day but I
want to make a million dollars I just
turned into Matthew as he had a thousand
our course he sold a thousand copies and
what if I created a course with a
thousand dollars I sold three a day like
if in a year I’d make a million dollars
in a year
and it became so clear so like crystal
clear to me that it was possible that
like it became real for me I could taste
it
I went back and afterwards I started
working I was like I’m making million
dollars making it was even in my radar
prior to that I say I’m gonna make a
million dollars making a million dollars
first year I went for it I didn’t make a
million dollars next year I tried it
again saying I was shy of like like 5060
think it didn’t make it two years in a
row I was like John did I can do this I
have to do it and the third year the
third try we did if we broke I think 300
1.2 million dollars that year and I was
like god I did it but for me the reason
why I was able to do that the reason why
I’m hearing from you guys today is
because John broke the four-minute mile
for me we wanted to do this for inside
quick songs I was like what’s like
what’s the equivalent of for us of a
four-minute mod what can we give people
to give them a goal to shoot after I
thought well if you have a funnel that
makes a million dollars like that’s
pretty cool as I wonder inside of
clickfunnels how many have made I made
over a million dollars and so I had Dave
and Tracy’s and the guys go through all
the stats and pull everything out I was
expecting we had maybe a dozen people
that made a million dollars in funnel
anyway Dave got the report back message
me is like dude we’ve had over 50 people
that have made over a million dollars so
far so you kidding me
so this is called we decided to call it
a 2 comma Club award in a million
dollars there’s two commas and so for
you guys every single time you have a
funnel that makes over a million dollars
we’re gonna send you one of these
amazing trophies to put on your wall is
that exciting

okay we’ve just received another package
here at the office so I wanted to open
it right here on camera for all of y’all
something that me and my team have heard
together on Christmas morning you guys I
never thought in a million years this is
a dream come true man I visualized this
over and over again so many years to get
to this Wow and this is not the only one
there we go
now the coolest thing that was like we
brought these all here and I say
probably 2/3 of those people that got
that are here today in fact we’re gonna
bring them on stage so we’re gonna give
these to them I want all of you guys who
aren’t here yet to see that and realize
it’s not just a couple people almost a
hundred of your peers have already done
it so this is the one that what we
studied everyone we’re getting some mini
ones made of everyone and they’re like
our hallways will be wrapped in these
things when people come to our offices
like dang everyone makes million bucks
and clickfunnels I need you to this
thing this is absolutely insane how many
mad now the four-minute mile has been
broken and I want every single you guys
that this is your goal is at least one
of these I keep going on cuz every time
you get a funnel breaks a million
dollars and send you another one that’s
my goal for you guys okay so for you
guys you I think back into your business
like what’s that result that your people
want that they’re dreaming about
InDesign like if I can have that I’d be
the greatest thing in the world and then
create something that gives them it
gives them the ability to aspire to go
towards that okay is help them break the
four-minute mile
and as we bring attention to these
action takers to these people who stop
talking about it and started being about
it who took what Russell said and
actually put it into motion as we do
that I want you to imagine the entire
time you being on this stage I want you
to imagine that it’s your turn next can
you do that yeah yeah if you’re gonna be
on the stage walking across next here
bridge I say I am I believe this is a
really important night then they have
the oh you are premiere oh you are
triple take which is the new premier for
operation underground so we want them
coming back from this into this really
really important if you can put 4300
people in a room and every one of them
gives $1 $10 $100 $1000 and you’re able
to give and something you really
profoundly believe in and you know
you’re helping to make a change in the
world you feel better about yourself you
feel better about this community and you
feel like you’re part of the community
so while it is about connection and it
is about donations it is also very much
about community and what we’re here to
do is build a community the first day if
I like land is all about belief we can’t
even believe in two things number one
that this business model that we love
that we preach we talk about funnels is
is gonna work and number two that they
can actually do it right and then we try
to give them something bigger than just
the money to look towards right because
when money is the motivator it’s really
hard to like stay motivated and so we
always introduce the chair attendee
number one and we show like look this is
what money can do by then may having
that that shift in their belief and
understanding they’re way more likely to
actually be successful in business did
you know that every time you create a
funnel with clickfunnels you are
actually helping a child in Africa did
you know that I remember when I first
got into business I always thought like
that he cooled like do a charity thing
you know I was always had in my head
like well when what we’re successful
then we’ll do a charity or when we make
more money it was always just this one
thing
when clickfunnels launched we kind of
weaved it into the DNA initially it was
like a whenever he funnels built let’s
donate a dollar like that it started
from from the very very beginning and
it’s crazy because when people
understand the mission it it bonds them
to you at a different level than that if
you don’t you know that companies like
TOMS shoes when every single shoe that
was sold a they bought a shoe and gave
it to some third-world country so I
needed a shoe and like that social
mission was huge I think people want to
work with companies and brands and
people who aren’t just about money just
about themselves like there’s more of a
soul to the company than just a money
thing and so not only does it you know
give your customers a vision of what’s
possible for themselves it also helps
them to connect you to trust you to like
you because you’re not just in it for
the money and one of the charities in
this village impact I got involved with
this because I love stew and I love Amy
I love them and I was grateful if they
they took me there and let me experience
but I love for you just kind of talk for
a few minutes just about about where
this cousin came from him why you guys
why you’re doing it I’m talking to the
chairman of this African community we’re
talking about building a school and and
I said how much does it cost to fund the
full time salary of a teacher and he
said it’ll be about a hundred dollars a
month at the time we were we were
selling a software product for a hundred
dollars and I made this connections if I
sell one more product a month that could
fund the full-time salary of a teacher
and then I just kind of like expanded on
that the more money I make the more
impact I could have and that really
started to pump me up

to kick off like the giving process we
wanted to do something really fun we got
a huge check made up for world teacher
aid we’re gonna fund the next classroom
for $12,000 so there you go Stu thanks
to you guys and your creation of funnels
we were able to raise forty six thousand
dollars for world he trade so in the
last twelve months years in seventy
eight thousand four hundred sixty funnel
bill a hundred and thirty three thousand
seven hundred thirty seven funnels that
have gone live we want to give you guys
hopefully the biggest check physically
you’ve ever done we’re just so grateful
because every year we get invited to
come back and it’s not something that we
take for granted the work that we do is
in what’s called IDP camps these people
were removed from their everyday life
because of the violence that was
happening and just move to this rural
area in the middle of nowhere and to see
their progress that’s happening year
over year little by little it’s
incredible and it’s having a huge ripple
effect the fact that this is woven into
the business model of clickfunnels is
it’s humbling and I’m so grateful to
Todd and and Russell and a whole
clickfunnels team huge credit to you
guys thank you so much for being part of
this community and thank you for
contributing whether you realize it or
not and thank you to the whole

rest of my life I look back on I got a
phone call today whose elder Ballard
my hands are slowing down okay so
basically said there’s a group called
the under something underground
Underground Railroad is sexist yes they
said that there a meeting and they said
some reason they mentioned your name if
I get some technology and skills that
could help us with this mission
he said they think you’re big pieces can
help I hope I helped save these kids
from staying in Wow
so my name’s Tim Ballard I’m the founder
and CEO of operation Underground
Railroad which is a private organization
dedicated to eradicating the world of
child sex slavery so I I spent 12 years
as a special agent as an undercover
operator for the US government doing
anti-trafficking work after 12 years of
working these kind of cases I decided to
break away and and and start a private
organization an organization that is
wouldn’t be prohibited by jurisdictional
limitations and bureaucracy
we’re in 20 countries 22 states in the
United States and we sit down with law
enforcement in these countries and any
states and we say what do you need so
that you can be empowered to rescue more
children oftentimes in foreign countries
one of the first things on their list is
we need you to go undercover because
it’s the Americans who are the demand
it’s the Americans who are the clientele
that are abusing our children so you
guys can infiltrate quicker

unfortunately we are the demand in this
country we’re the highest consumer
highest producer of child pornography
which means countries like Colombia or
Haiti or Thailand they can use us sign
us up as undercover operators and we can
infiltrate those black markets because
we can connect with those dirtbag
pedophiles who are hurting kids and all
around the world we can find them and
filtrate them so that’s what we do and
that’s why we created operation
Underground Railroad probably the
biggest challenge is making people aware
that it’s a problem it’s hard to fight
something when the majority of people
you’re talking to don’t know what you’re
talking about
the other reason is as a private
organization we can provide a vehicle
for you for the public to get involved
this is a problem it’s not gonna go away
by sitting back and saying the
government’s are gonna handle this it’s
way too big it’s hard for decent people
and I still think most of people the
world are decent people it’s hurtful to
wrap their heads around but if they
don’t accept it and it’s one thing by
the way to accept it and a hold another
thing to stay in it early that year I
have been made aware of the organization
what they do and we decided to help fund
a documentary to get the message out
about these children and how we can save
them and a lot of people in that
situation walk away Russell says I’m
gonna dive deeper I mean I’ll go as far
as I can go with you if you’re a dark
place there’s a whole bunch of
cockroaches these shine a light in the
middle and all the cockroaches have to
scatter and so we looked at this
documentary it’s like us shining a light
to try to end this problem and try to
solve it so we spend a whole bunch time
up to the event creating it preparing it
and then we actually showed it at the
first one
you live in one of the most emotional
emotional days / weeks of my entire life

special homes I got a call probably six
months ago from someone who asked if I
would be involved I didn’t even know
what it was and then I started googling
and trying to figure out and I think
watch the final hacker TV stop I made a
video that night I said I pretty sure
that my life is going to change forever
after this

I don’t know what happened a phone call
out of the blue I didn’t even believe it
like hey we want to just follow you
around and do something and then I just
saw this I mean I’m totally blown away

there’s these two charities that they’re
so near and dear to my heart and they’re
so different but they’re the spirit the
feelings the same I’m like on one side
we’re trying to educate these children
another sigh were trying to liberate
children and all said like the phrase
popped in my head liberate and educate I
was like oh my gosh like that’s that’s
what we’re doing for these children
we’re liberating them from from
captivity from slavery and they were
educating him giving them a future and I
saw the parallels also in the pattern of
that’s what click phones does as a
company as well like we take
entrepreneurs and we liberate them from
their jobs from things they don’t love
and then we educate them on how to grow
their companies and as I was looking at
those two things I was like that’s what
that’s what the mission is a
clickfunnels it’s deliberate educate
both entrepreneurs and these children
who can’t do it by themselves when you
have a community who have been inspired
and their goals are bigger than just
themselves like it’s it’s not my trying
to figure how to pay my rent today but
how do i how do I solve this problem how
do I help these children how like they
thinking bigger than themselves
the monetary goals become super easy
because they’re looking for something
bigger and the war card will outwork
anybody because it’s not just about
themselves about the change they’re
gonna make it other people’s lives as
well
battles they have a whole lot of gifts
life that’s just amazing beautiful
congratulations I meant what I said
about you up I don’t same things lightly
have such respect for the rest of mine
you’re just you’re the real thing or how
cool you’re beautiful you not so much
now that’s why I came back like even I
don’t see I can see your friend and
somebody I respect what I love that
you’re doing now is you’re teaching them
to be givers and save the value of that
I definitely did all the fear a lot of
people about incorporating charity
especially events is that you know
people come with the wall and there’s
sorts money them in their wallet and if
they they spend it on charity they may
not spend it with other things you have
and finally happen to Orlando was the
one that we raised the most money for
the charity and also interesting enough
was the event that we made the most
money in coaching sales afterward which
seemed backwards like you wouldn’t think
like those two things are tied together
I don’t know from a business decision
like getting people to open the walls
for a good cause it helps them to be
more likely to open the wallets for you
to continue to help them in the future
with coaching with your back and sales
whatever that that thing might be on the
other side because you have this
opportunity to really to really change
them we’ve been serving them hard for
three days and generally here is a
seldom easy moment we know without
question
they aren’t two comma Club X there is no
chance if they do the work that they
will not be a better entrepreneur they
will not do more be more and have more
in 2018 this is where we give people the
ability that they want to continue this
process to get them from where they are
today to where they want to be this is
where who made the offer

last time we were all here hanging out
together it’s that amazing okay and
these numbers are going up these aren’t
some like business scholars these are
your friends these your peers look
around they’re sitting next to you right
now okay this shouldn’t be weird this is
happening all the time so you can’t
dismiss you guys but guess I’m most
excited we’re out of all this stuff
think I’m most excited for you guys on
the stage next year the next thing is
people people start people that’s really
cool for them but like what about me
like how is it possible for me it’s a
next set of this presentation for me to
help them understand that not all is it
possible for people but it’s actually
possible for you specifically you some
of you guys are sitting here in the
audience and you’re watching people come
on stage and instead of saying like what
does he believe what does he like one of
these people who they’ve already done it
you’re sitting back saying no no like I
I believe something different for you to
be successful it’s not about conforming
the rest of the world to your beliefs to
figure out what the truth is then
conforming your beliefs to that if you
want to be successful you find people
who are successful you model them okay
it’s not find already successful
convince them that you’re right so
telling stories about people who are in
the same situation site who was in the
audience last year sitting in the stage
thinking they weren’t gonna be there
that this year came on stage and got the
award and then the third fall it’s
believed have to break is you know
people are scared like I believe this is
the right process I believe I can do it
but like how my spouse and my kids don’t
believe me or I got a day job or all the
other external things and I’ve got to
show them those other things aren’t
gonna hold you back if you plug into
this community if you plug into the peer
group but you’ve just gotten around
don’t ask the question how ask the
question
who already knows how to do this you
change your question you change
everything meet on right almost
completely broke as they all work for

an education is the peace that fuels and

our role in this is to like be an

people are taking stuff and using them
it’s been fun on the event side I’ve
watched our friends in the real estate
space Justin Terry they launched the
packing five been modeled everything
Alex Leila doing a gym launch and their
industry in their business helping gyms
to grow into scale and using these
principles inside of gyms Brandon and
Kevin pull it over the lady boss is
doing events changing women and helping
them lose weight and like have this huge
transformation over there and so it’s
been really cool seeing the the people
side of our community that are taking
these principles and modeling them and
using them in each of their individual
businesses and seeing the impacts
comfort for them as well

put on an event like this it takes an
army of amazing people it takes tons of
support from our from the families
everyone involved but there’s over a
hundred people here that have killed
themselves to put on this event for you
guys so I just wanted to give a second
give my entire team a huge round of
applause for all the wards they put into
this whole event and there are six
people that without their love and
support and sacrifice we’re not making
it as possible the clickfunnels spouses
the survivors the women who have made
all is possible I think the definition
of clickfunnels is like sacrifice
because there’s so many nights where we
didn’t have our husbands because they
were fighting for you to see all of you
guys here and to see how much you guys
just are obsessed with this company is
really like pouring back not only into
our hearts but back into our marriage
and back into our families

you know it’s when my favorite parts of
Fulani live when it’s done the last day
we got to dinner together and we all
just kind of hang out and it’s just like
that point I’m so too tired to talk and
I just like looking around looking them
all in like there’s a lot of people that
made this this thing possible I’m so
grateful for them to you know that they
they believe in the same vision I do
because I couldn’t do without them and
the fact that they’re they’re here
they’re bought in that they’re doing it
this is their mission as well now it’s
really special
the reason why I do this why I’m
obsessed with this because every single
person that we’re able to touch and
change during this event it doesn’t just
affect them usually it starts with them
and then it affects their families

and then as they start growing then they
start hiring employees and a team else
and there’s a team of people that are
affecting and they started getting
customers and they start serving those
customers and starts changing their
lives and every single people that are
sitting in there if we can touch them
and affect them the right way it’s a
ripple effect that will go through tens
of thousands in some cases millions of
people

so we got 4200 of them and if we serve
them at the right level from the very
second that come in all the weights at
the end we could affect literally tens
of millions of people for this weekend
if you look at it probably half of them
are people who’ve come before in the
past and for them is this is like a big
huge family reunion you’ll see that like
make show up it’s like they’re gonna be
crying and hugging and there’s gonna be
this most amazing thing in the world

and in the other half for people who are
here for the first time at half em are
scared they’re nervous someone spent the
last minute a had to come here they came
with a hope and a dream and not knowing
what to do next
as excited as I am for all of our hard
core final hackers who are gonna be back
I’m mostly excited for this new group
people who we really have a chance to
change their lives

thing that matters we are all gonna be
tired I’m gonna be beat up I mean late
nights early mornings tons of stress my
voice would be completely shot by the
time it’s done but that’s okay because
it’s not about us at all this is for
them like it’s a really big deal

the bottom or make sure that we are
always having a super focus on like the
service that we’re trying to do for them
if we do that it’ll literally be the
transformation point for a lot of these
people in their lives
this is my mom’s first time coming to
any of our craziness

– Hey, this is Russell Brunson,
and I got a really
cool tutorial for you.
I’m gonna walk through
seven different
sales funnel marketing tips.
I wanted to give these
to you guys because
if you have a funnel and it’s
not making you money yet,
it’s usually not a big
thing, it’s usually like
one of these little, tiny
tweaks you gotta make.
So I’m gonna walk you through
seven tips that you can add
any of these seven to your
funnel to make more money,
have more success.
With that said, let’s jump
into the tutorial right now.
Now, if you don’t have a
sales funnel yet, that’s okay.
This is gonna be for like,
“Oh my gosh, I could do
this, I could do this.”
If you do have sales funnel
that’s not doing that well,
these seven tips are gonna
be ideas how to tweak ’em
and change ’em and
make ’em even better.
So I’m gonna jump right
into them right now.
As you guys are hearing this,
I want you to vote down below

Number one, you need
to add more curiosity
to your headlines to
increase conversions.
These are some of my
friends, Mike and AJ,
they’re in my inner circle
and what’s interesting is
they came to inner circle,
and they’re like, “Russell,
we have this webinar
“and it’s sucking.”
I’m like, “What do you mean?”
They’re like, “It’s horrible.
“Right now we’re spending $24,85
“to get somebody to
register for the webinar
“and only 22% of people
actually show up.”
They’re like, “How do
we fix our webinar?”
And I was like, “I’m not
even gonna touch your webinar
“because I’m just gonna
tweak one little thing.”
I said, “When I read
your headline it says,
“How to Add Six Figures to
Your Web Design Business
“by Copying My Secret
Method for Helping Companies
“Get More Real Five-Star Reviews
“Without Selling, Spending
Lots of Time or Money.”
I say, “When I read
that, I know exactly
“what your webinar’s about.
“Your webinar’s gonna
show me how to get reviews
“for local customers,
“and if I’m like, I think
I know how to do that,
“I’m not gonna show up.”
I said, “That’s why your
ad cost is so expensive,
“and that’s why your
show-up rate’s so low.”
People are like, “I’ll register,
but I think I already know,
“so I’m not gonna make
it that important for me
“to actually show up.”
So I said, “All you
gotta do is just
“add more curiosity
to your headline.
“Don’t tell me what it is,
tell me what it’s not.”
The more curiosity I have,
the more likely I am
to actually show up
and so he changed
that and all he did
to this entire webinar is he
just changed the headline.
So there’s the old landing
page, here’s the new one.
Now the headline says,
“How I Added Six Figures
“to My Web Company
by Adding This
“One Easy to Offer Service
That Doesn’t Require
“Cold Calling, Spending
Lots of Time, Money
“or Require Extra Resources
“And it’s not Facebook
ads, FCO, email marketing,
“website, social
media, graphic design,
“digital marketing,
photography or video.
“Register now and
find out what it is.”
All he did is just
ramped up the curiosity.
Like, what is it?
I know what it’s not,
but I have no idea
what it actually is!
Now the increase in curiosity
makes people freak out
and guess what happened?
Two amazing things.
Number one, their
ad cost went from,
here’s the number it was before.
From 24,85 to $5,84, ‘kay?
The ad cost dropped
dramatically down
and then their show-up
rate went from 22%
to like now over
30% of people like,
“I gotta find out what it is.”
Number two, you need
to grow your list
by using a lead magnet.
So what’s a lead magnet?
You guys have all seen
lead funnels before,
it’s a funnel if someone
comes on your page,
you’re like, “Hey, I’ll give you
“this really really cool thing
“if you give me
your email address.”
And then they give you
their email address
and then you give
them the cool thing
and then from there you
push them to the next page
in your value ladder.
What’s the next thing?
Now the very first time I ever
learned about lead magnets,
and I wanna show
you guys the story
because I think it’ll give
some of you guys ah-ha,
it was back almost 15 years ago,
it was a guy who’s
become a friend now,
his name’s Evan Pagen.
He owned a company called
Double Your Dating.
And I remember he was one of
the very first people ever
to have a landing
page like this,
we call them squeeze pages,
and I remember
coming to this page
and I was so confused.
It says, “You’re
About To Learn Secrets
“That Most Men Will
Never Know About Women…
“Inside you’re gonna
learn The Kiss Test
“and how to tell if she’s
ready to be kissed.”
and a bunch of other things.
I remember looking at
this page and I was like,
“This is the weirdest
thing I’ve ever seen.”
A lot of you guys, you’ve
seen pages like this,
but 15 years ago I was confused.
And I remember I was
at a marketing seminar,
some guy said, “Yeah,
this page right here,
“this company has $20
million a year online.”
And this was their
homepage on their site.
I was like, “What?!”
That doesn’t make any sense.
And he said, “Yeah, they
drain all the traffic here,
“they get a list and
then they sell the person
“other products and
services on the back end.”
And I remember I
wanted to funnel hack
and go in, but I’d
just gotten married
to my beautiful wife, Collette,
and she would’ve strangled me
if I signed up
for a dating list,
so I called her up, I was like,
“Colette, I’m doing
some marketing research,
“I need to opt into this thing,
“are you okay with that?
“I’ma get emails but
I’m not wandering,
“I’m just trying to figure
out the marketing behind it.”
And she was like,
“Okay, no worries.”
So I went and I
subscribed to find out
what in the world
is The Kiss Test
they’re gonna tell me about.
So I put my email address in,
and then it took me
to this next page
and there’s like two
or three paragraphs
that teach The Kiss Test.
It wasn’t like a 55 minute video
or a 39 page ebook, it
was like two paragraphs.
Basically said, okay
this is The Kiss Test,
you walk a girl to the door,
you talking to
them, you reach up
and you touch the
tips of her hair.
If she pulls her head back,
it means she does
not wanna be kissed.
Don’t kiss her, run away!
But if she turns
her head into you,
that means she’s into you and
she wants you to kiss her.
And I was like, “Oh my
gosh, that’s The Kiss Test.”
Then after that, lower
on the page it says okay,
if you like that, you
should go read my book
called Double Your
Dating, click here.
And then people will
go buy the book.
Number three, is
Build Your Sales Pages
For Optimal Conversions.
This is something that I
assumed everybody understood
until I shared it with my team
and they were all like, “What?!”
If you look at when
we sell anything,
there’s three phases of selling.
The first phase is emotion.
That’s why I tell a story,
you’re emotionally engaged
and then majority of people
will buy off emotion,
but some people
emotionally sell me
but then they start logically
trying to justify it, right?
So we start with emotion,
then we shift to logic
and then we move to
urgency and scarcity.
People who are fear-based,
you just have to push
’em over the edge.
Look at any sales
presentation that I do,
you always see it.
So the email sequence
I do, I always do this.
The first emails are
very emotional based,
the second emails
are logical based,
the third emails are urgency
and scarcity and fear based.
Every sales process,
every sales funnel
we take people
through, we take them
through the same journey,
from emotion to logic to fear.
And what a lot of
people don’t understand
is that they do the
exact same thing
on the actual landing page.
If you go to any of my pages,
like here’s the
DotComSecrets book,
or the Experts secrets book.
Any of those books, the landing,
this page here, the
whole top section
is all focused on emotion.
The hook is emotional,
the video is emotional,
everything here is emotion.
That’s my best selling
technique is, emotion.
So the top third of my page
is all focused on emotion,
and for the majority,
if you put a heat map
on this and you watch it,
90% of people see that
and they go and they buy.
All the emotional
buyers are like,
“I’m in, let’s go
do this thing!”
Okay, but then you
have the next group,
the logical people.
They’re emotional,
like I want this,
but does it really make
sense, is it okay for me
and they start logically
trying to justify everything.
So what happens is those
people need more information
and start scrolling.
So then they start
scrolling the page
and they go down a
little bit further
and now we start having this
this where we logically,
the second section is logically
giving all the logical
arguments, okay?
You’re gonna learn this,
you’re gonna learn this,
you’re gonna learn this.
Logically understand that
you’re gonna need this
to grow your company.
We speak to the
logic of somebody
in the second section.
So my scrollers are
my logical buyers,
so if you watch your heat maps,
you’ll notice in this section
people are scrolling, a
bunch of people start buying.
These are your logical
buyers who are like,
“Okay, that was the thing
I needed right there
“to get me to go and buy.”
Then you scroll even further,
then I move to the last thing
which is urgency and scarcity.
Some people just have to
be pushed over the edge,
like, they need that
last little push.
The last bottom of the page
is all focused on
urgency and scarcity.
This is why you need to buy it
and why you need to
buy it right now.
So whatever your urgency
and scarcity limits are.
Some people it’s like you only
have X amount of products,
some people it’s the timeline,
I don’t care what it
is, you gotta figure out
a true real urgency and scarcity
to push people over.
And that is how we
structure sales page.
Emotion, logic and fear.
All right, number four.
Offer and Order Form
Bump to Increase Sales.
This is one of the things
that seems so simple now,
but literally 10 years ago
when we kind of discovered this,
changed all of our
businesses forever.
The order form bump, I
want to to visualize.
Imagine you’re at the
grocery store, right?
And you gotta go buy some stuff.
So you’re at the grocery store
and you’re buying hotdogs
and ketchup and buns
and chips and you’re getting
all that stuff for the big game
coming up, and then
you’re checking out
at the checkout stand.
As you walk to the
checkout stand,
you look and you’re like,
“Oh, National Choir, the
World’s Largest Baby,
“that’s hilarious.”
And you grab it and
you throw everything
and you’re like, “Oh, Tic-tacs!”
“My breath stinks, but the
orange ones taste really good.”
So you grab some
Tic-tacs and some gum
and a Snickers bar, and
the things you’re grabbing
as you’re checking out.
That is your order form bump.
So somebody comes on the pages
and they go and buy something,
they’re buying some
stuff and for years
we would just sell
them the product,
then we have our up
sales and down sales,
but somewhere along the line…
I saw a page that
somebody had it,
it was a bigger company
and they had this thing,
and what happened
was right after
somebody puts in their credit
card, this is essential,
after they put in
their credit card,
but before they click
the submit button,
they get this little
block right here
that I start calling
an order form bump.
The key is after somebody
puts in their credit card,
before they put in the thing,
you have an offer that’s
really quick there
for $17, $27, $37
and impulse buy.
If it’s something that
needs to be explained
over 10 paragraphs, it’s
not the right thing.
If you’re selling a book like,
“Hey, do you want
the audiobook?”
or if you’re selling
a training course,
“Hey, do you want
the templates?”
It’s gotta be impulse buy
that you add right there,
and in most of our funnels,
the profit that comes from
this covers our ad spend.
It covers the Google
ads, the Facebook ads,
whatever that thing might be,
and so it’s one of
the most powerful
little ninja stealth things
you could add to any funnel
that literally will
cover all your ad costs.
Now everything else
you sell in the funnel
becomes pure profit.
It all comes down to this
one little block right here,
the order form bump that happens
between the credit card number
and before the submit
button, right there
and it is magic.
Number five, as we’re
creating up sales
this is one of the
biggest problems
people make when
they have up sales.
Somebody buys your product
and you have the up
sale page, right?
The biggest mistake
most people make
is the up sale page
happens and they say,
“Thank you for your order,
“we’ve received your order”
and they close the loop.
As soon as you do that,
your conversions on
whatever happens afterwards
will dramatically decrease,
and this is based on thousands
and thousands of tests.
The goal on the up sale page
is you have to keep
the buying loop open,
so if you notice any
of my up sale pages,
never say, “Thank you
so much for your order.”
It always stops and says like,
“Wait, your order’s
not yet complete!
“Don’t shut this page down!”
I have to keep the
buying loop open.
Like, “It’s not done yet!
“we need to customize
your order!”
“Do you wanna add some other
cool things to your order
“before we close
this thing down?”
I do not close the
loop, I keep it open
during the up sale process.
I’ve had people
before who come to us
for consulting and
they have this up sale
and the only thing
we change is from
“Thank you for your order.”
It’s like, “Wait, your
order’s not yet complete!”
And it increases
conversions dramatically.
Number six, after someone
goes to your funnel
and land on your Thank You page,
you can create what
we call an offer wall.
And an offer wall is
how you can push people
into your other value ladders,
so for example this right here,
this is the Thank You page
for buying one of our products
and down below it
says, “Oh by the way,
“here’s other cool stuff.
“You could join our
funnel university,
“you can get the
DotComSecrets book,
“you can get the
108 Split Test book,
“and all this is free
traffic that comes to you.”
So after someone’s gone
through your sales funnel
and they land on
your Thank You page,
don’t think that
they’re done buying.
What typically happens
is for a lot of people,
especially the hyperactive
buyers like, “This was awesome!”
and they start looking
for more stuff to buy.
And they buy from
your competitors and
other competitors.
You lost them.
So why not just allow them
to continue with
you in the process.
That’s number six and
I’ve got one more.
You guys ready for the last one?
What we do is we add a
webinar to the Thank You page
to increase sales.
So if you look at a
bunch of our funnels,
the very last page is like,
“Thank you so much for
ordering the product,
“now I wanna start your
training right now.
“The product’s being
shipped to you in the mail,
“you’re gonna get it, we’re
gonna start right now,
“we’ll get into business.”
And we start teaching right away
and this Thank You
page is the webinar.
Now, a percentage
of people who buy
one of our free
plus shipping books
start buying out $2000 product
we sell at the back as well
and that is what a Thank
You page webinar is.

– So, welcome to Hotlanta. This is where we’re stayin’. We literally have six boxes, one box goes to each table as far as the buyers packets. When they buy, you hand ’em that packet. Pretty easy, I mean it’s the same thing we always do, Russell gets up on stage, he kills it, it goes crazy, we take order forms, we run payments, we go home richer. (laughing) (rock music playing) – You hear about the surprise we’re doing for Todd tonight? – Yeah. – Do you know about it? – Jake told me a little bit. –

So, this is the purpose, I know if I just asked Todd he’d say no. And I’m gonna give it to him as a gift cause you can’t like give back a gift That’s kind of the thing, this is your Christmas gift, you can’t re gift your gift, we have to make this a thing and then he’ll have to say yes. I hope it all works. – (talking on a microphone in the background) – Hi! – How are you doing? – Nice to meet you! – You too! My wife Colette. – Hi, I’m Lauren. – Hi! Nice to meet you. – Lauren is the MC and she’ll be introducing you tomorrow. – Very cool. – She’s also a ClickFunnels user. She’s been donating $297 a month.

Well thank you! (laughing) – Thank you for creating it though, it’s amazing, like how many cool things people have… – It’s been fun, it’s been a crazy ride. – There’s always a great woman behind it. – Every time. What was your thought, what’d you think it was? – I don’t know, I mean, I don’t know, honestly, like, but now I’m like, way thrown off, because now you’re sayin’ it reduces churn and stuff, so, I’m not sure what it could be. – Todd, you can sit there, Ashley, sit next to him, everybody else come sit on the couch, if you guys want. Alright, we gather together in a hotel room tonight, in front of all our friends, to, uh, there’s Todd and Ashley. Bunch of our other friends, and we are about to show Todd the future of ClickFunnels.

And he doesn’t even know yet. – I have no idea what’s going on. – Unless he hates it, then it’s not the future, it might end right now. Okay, – [Todd] Alright, what do we got? – so, we’ve gathered you here today, because, I knew if I asked you this initially you’d say no, so I was like alright, (laughing) so now the peer pressure will force you, just kidding. Jake sat down and designed something that’s so freakin’ amazing. – Jake just replaced all the designers (laughing) the entire company. –

So we’re not, it’s not, it’s not like a whole new design other than, obviously, the onboarding, the homepage, the onboarding process, and then like the initial dashboard. – So you’ve actually got something designed, I’m excited now. – Yeah. So behind this curtain is, hopefully the new ClickFunnels dashboard. Okay, you ready for this? Here we go. (sounds of awe) – Nice That looks awesome. I don’t know why you’re scared, I mean (laughing) – Okay, so now my Christmas gift that I want from you, – Can we get this live by Christmas? – By our birthday! (laughing) – This isn’t near as bad as I thought it was gonna be, “I’m gonna hate it,” I was like “I love this!” Let’s do it. Such a build up. (laughing) – Happy Birthday! –

No, I do like it. Awesome. Alright let’s get some dinner. (upbeat music playing) – Alright, so we just, uh, woke up, got ready. We were up ’til like one o’clock last night working on slides, Now, show’s about to start, so we’re headin’ down there to the event room. I’m a little nervous, this is the first time I’ve ever done this presentation. It’s only an hour, usually I speak for ninety minutes. And we’re selling a five hundred dollar product. All new things, new variables, three new variables.

But the reason why I said yes, cause I literally retired from public speaking, outside of Funnel Hacking Live after the 10x one but um, we wanted to change a presentation and test one out so that the speaker team can do one, cause most people aren’t letting them have ninety minutes on stage, and most people don’t want them to sell a three thousand dollar offer like we normally do. So, this is basically a test so I can do this presentation, to see if it works, and then I’ll have a recording that I can then give to the speaker team so they can learn the pitch and so that’s the main reason we’re doin’ this is just to create a presentation for them.

You’ll notice in the slides that I don’t talk about myself at all. Gonna have my stories in there and it’s by design, because I’m gonna make this where Dave could do this presentation tomorrow, he just changes one slide, writes Dave Woodward ClickFunnels instead of Russell Brunson ClickFunnels. And so that’s how we’re doin’ it. – Russel, Russel, how you’re doin’? – Good, how you’re doin’? – (mumbles) Just in case I ran into you I was hoping you would sign these for me. That would be awesome. –

Hey man! – [Russel] What’s up? – Get outta here! Good to see you man, I haven’t seen you in a bunch of years. How you been? – Amazing, how ’bout you? – Amazing, busy. Wouldn’t have expected anything less. Don’t be nervous, I know how, yeah. – I do get nervous every time. – Really? – Yeah, every time I get nervous. – I go to sleep before. I do, literally, I fall asleep before. If you see me before, I’m not now. Alright man. – Great to see you. (cheering in the background) – Ah, the anxious nerves before you go on, and it’s like, also you get tired, so like, I don’t know, it’s like the yawn, the adrenaline gets up and you get tired from it, and then you’re yawning, and you’re like “I can’t be asleep right now!” I’ve never done a five hundred dollar offer on stage ever, in the history of my career, even, like, way back in the day.

So I think it should be super easy to sell. But I’ve also never done a sixty minute presentation so hopefully the shrink in time will be okay with the shrink in the price? And hopefully I don’t go to ninety minutes, ’cause I have not timed this yet. – Okay, good luck! – You look beautiful. – Thank you. You’re gonna kill it, bring the energy. – I must have like twenty slides, (making clicking sounds) like, (clicking sounds) I must have skipped like thirty slides. – (crowd drowns out speaker) your powerpoint. – Awesome, thank you. – No problem. – So how’s the audience thing? – It got warm inside, which got great, but the backside is so disengaged. –

How’re you doin’, I’m Russell. – Francy, nice to meet you. – Yeah, she knows you, ’cause everybody knows Russell. So you knew who I was? – Yeah I actually met you at SANG event like, eight or nine years ago. – Really, I don’t even remember that. You must of – well ’cause you look different, I actually, someone posted a picture of you, and I’m like, you’re more like, round. – I was a little heavier. – Yeah a little round. – I lost a little weight since then. – I was an (squeaker noise) back then. – So people still think I’m an (chicken squawk) based on how they met me eight years ago. They’re like “he’s an (beeping)” like “when’d you meet him?” “Eight years ago!” I’m like, people do get older, and they do mature. That’s when I started teaching other people, sharing these things with other people, that’s when my growth really started happening. Okay, so it’s that shift from growth to contribution. It’s so simple and so easy, that’s why we say we’d just be free entrepreneurs, no longer have to go call a tech person to go do all these things, you can just do it, like, momentum is the secret, this is not hard.

Cool. – Yep, also uh… a member of your Two Comma club. – That’s awesome. – Let’s go and have a seat here. – Russell Brunson, take one. – Hey friends, it’s Gene McNaughton, Success Resources. It is an absolute honor to have our guest here, Russel Brunson. – Great to see you. – Thank you man, thanks for being here. I notice in your marketing, you’re always giving something first, you’re giving the blueprint, in your podcast, you’re sharing the exact details of the situation, what you did and how you drove the outcome.

Now there’s a lot of people that market, market, market, and make all the big promises, but you’re giving things up first. How does that work for you? – I think it’s really the longer game, you can always trick people into giving you money, or with something with like “I’m gonna show you this secret thing, but you gotta pay me!” But then like the person doesn’t buy again, like they buy once, and its like a weird relationship. I was like, I wanna be in this business for a decade or ten decades, I would keep a longevity, and so because of that you have to give a lot, and a lot of reciprocity comes back. I’ve had people literally, we had a kid that bought my book, this was probably two years ago, went through, built a big company, won a bunch of awards from us, and then he joined my high-end coaching program, he’s like “I feel guilty, I paid $7.95 for the book, and made this whole business,

I’m giving you money, I don’t even want to be in your coaching program, but I feel like I owe you that much money back.” So he gave us $25,000 to join this program just ’cause he felt obligated ’cause we had just given so much, and I think, you know, nowadays with social media, whoever’s giving the most are the ones that people follow and they keep plugging into and keep tuning into. And so we just try to give a ton, and when you do that and you help people… At a little level, they want more, and they keep following you and keep engaging at higher levels with you. – Talk about how important goal setting is for you. –

Oh it’s so important. It’s funny ’cause like, a lot of times we set a goal and it’s like, if we don’t have the goal, I’m a failure! No, you set a goal, you miss it, okay what’s the new goal? It’s kind of more of a… It’s more flexible. I grew up, I was a wrestler, and so I always had, I wanted to be a state champion, and then national champ. But along that path, I would lose tons of matches but I’d lose a match, look at it, what do I need to tweak and change, and then come back again, and come back again, and eventually I got to those goals. I think the biggest thing is a lot of people set goals, and for some reason they get fearful, like “What if I don’t hit it? Then I’m a failure.” Set a goal and start running towards it, but be okay if it fails, like okay, what are the adjustments I need to make, reset the goal, go again. Reset the goal and go again.

Keep going, because that’s the best part of life, is the chasing of it. When you get the goal, it’s never as cool, like getting your hand raised at a wrestling match, or cashing the checks, never as cool as the journey. So it’s just like enjoying the journey, and keep resetting the goals, and don’t freak out about the failures. – I remember you saying, “I’ve got this other opportunity that I’m workin’ on, I’ve got this other thing,” and that I believe was the beginning of ClickFunnels. How did it originate? When did you say, “this is what the world needs”? –

You never know ’til, that’s the fascinating thing about the market, you never know what’s gonna hit until you put it out there. I was trying thing after thing, we had been helping entrepreneurs for a long time, like teaching them and coaching them, having fun with that. Every single entrepreneur always got stuck at the technical parts. They would conceptually understand, “Okay, that’s what I need to do.” But then they’re like, “How do I actually do that?” They didn’t know. It was harder for them to progress, and so I had my business partner, Todd, who’s the best developer I’ve ever met, he was like “I think I could build something that makes this easy.”

So he started that process of building it, and it was funny ’cause as he would get iterations of it done, he’d like “Here try it,” and I would try to do stuff, I’m like “How does it work? I don’t understand.” He’s like, “Ah, I failed.” And I’m like, “No tell me.” He’s like “No if you can’t figure it out then we failed.” And so they had people record videos of me trying to use it, and if I got stuck, he’s like “do it again.”

He kept going back until it was simple enough that I could do it. I was able to start doing, like building these webpages and funnels that I’ve always been having to hire people and when I could do it, I was like, “Oh my gosh, there’s something here. This is simple enough that any entrepreneur could do it. And then we were just like, “Okay this is the focus.” We ended up shutting down and selling off every other idea, every other business, and just went 100% in. Next month it’ll be our five year birthday since the launch of ClickFunnels and it’s just been all consuming and the craziest ride of my life. – It’s a wrap.
