– Hey this is Russell again, I want to welcome you back to part three of my interview with Tony Robins. I hope you’ve watched part one and part two. If you haven’t yet, go back to the beginning of this playlist and watch those first. Help you get all the context of the interview and now we are transitioning into the third part of the interview. Which is, for me, my favorite part. It is understanding the mastery and mastering a concept called the Epiphany Bridge. What is the Epiphany Bridge? It is the way you tell stories to get customers, to get people, to get prospects to come and become leads, become costumers to buy your products and your services. And these concepts they work in all types of businesses. In fact, during the interview, Tony asked me, well how does this work for a real business? Not a infomart, you know information business or an internet business, but a real business. And I shared a story about one of my friends whose a chiropractor. I don’t want to ruin that part of the story, you’re gonna love it. But, how he used these epiphany bridge stories to grow his practice here locally in town as well.

And so, there’s a whole bunch of cool things you can learn about storytelling, story selling, how to give people the transformations they need when their buying your products and your services. You’re gonna love this. It’s my favorite part of the whole thing, so let’s jump right in now to part three of the interview with my friend Tony Robins. – Tell us about the Epiphany Bridge and how you can use that concept to sell just about anything, without actually selling anything. – Actually, got a little white board for you to show this. I did my homework, prepared for today, so this is funny, most people if they’re trying to sell you something, they come to you and they try to pitch you logically on the thing, like why they believe in their thing. So I drew this out one day, and this has been huge for me and for everyone that goes through my coaching stuff. Is this thing called the Epiphany Bridge. What happens is like, this is us, right here, right? And we’re living our normal life, I could use this example, before I met you, before I started going to your things, life was good, I thought everything was perfect. And then I was introduced to you and I had this epiphany where it was like life is good, but I’m seeing things in black and white, now things are colorful.

For me, it was huge. So I went on this journey where I went on this big Epiphany Bridge and what happens is we come over here to this side of the bridge. What happens over here is we start studying, we start learning, we start geeking out. And so, I went to all your events, read all your books multiple times, your courses. For you, I’m in the Tony world, right? I understand your language patterns. And then I go to my wife and I’m so excited to tell her I learned all this stuff, and the first thing that we all do is we jump over here, and this says techno babble, we jump and we start trying to logically convince the people around us. Like, oh yeah, you could learn this thing, and we spew out this techno babble and they freak out. They’re like, “ugh” and they run away right? What we have to do, if we want to sell something to somebody, we have to come back to this thing. We have to remember what was the emotional experience that we had that gave us that big epiphany. If you understand an emotional experience, then that’s how you sell someone. I come back and I tell a story, when I tell that story, my goal is to get people to have the same epiphany that I had, if they have that same epiphany then I don’t have to sell them anything. They have that epiphany, they go “wow that’s true” and they’ll go sell themselves logically all day long.

I just have to come back here, remember the experience I had, and become really good at telling it. In the book, it’s not just like telling a story, I walk through like the process and the scripts, and how to control their state, and this is a huge thing I learned from you, ’cause how many people tell a story and one person tells a story and something happened, and you’re like “okay cool”, you try to explain it three or four times and finally you say, oh man, I guess you had to be there, if you were there you would’ve experienced it. The biggest thing I’ve always seen people struggle with they try to get into business, they try to sell their advice, and things like that, is they get into this used car salesman mode of trying to learn how to close people, and I’m like “no, it’s not closing” What was it that got you fired up, if you can remember that moment, and you get really good at telling that story then they’ll feel that and they’ll get fired up too, and that’s the key. And so we understand that and this book is all about that. – As you know leadership is all about transferring emotion because logic does not get us to take action, there’s not enough juice in the logic right? When will we have enough logic to justify an emotional decision?

What do think is the biggest misconception about marketing today, and what do people, if they only did one thing to change their marketing for the better, what would it be? – I think the biggest misconception is that people and this comes down to everything I learned from you, People are so tied to their significance that when they try to sell themselves their business that they try to posture themselves all the time and posturing deflects people, even though it makes you feel, I don’t know what it is, the more vulnerable you get, the better it is. We have our high end coaching programs for less, how do you sell that Russell? I’m like “I show a ten minute video of me telling my story of my wife and we’re trying to have twins, cried three or four times in it, and I tell that story, I’m super vulnerable, and people connect with me and then they follow me. It’s about connection and being vulnerable is that’s what get people to draw into you, it’s not significance or stature, its vulnerability, and that’s what gets people in. And that works for any business, I had a friend who’s a chiropractor, I was trying to help him, and it was funny, ’cause he was trying to sell like all the other chiropractors talked about their fees and all this stuff, and how the adjustment and alignment and all this technical stuff and I kept asking him, finally one day, I was like “why are you a chiropractor”, and he told me this amazing story about his wife got in a car wreck and he was in dental school at the time, and she got injured really really bad and took her to a medical doctor, a couple places and nothing helped.

Finally he took her to a chiropractor, and he adjusts her and literally changed her life and he loved it so much he dropped out of dental school, and then he went and became a chiropractor, now he loves it. And so we got a video of him telling that story, that emotional, I got chills just telling it again told that story, put it on Facebook, and his practice was struggling, as he was trying to be a salesperson, blew up overnight as he started sharing his story and becoming vulnerable with people. That’s the future market, it used to be slick sales letters, good copy, all that kind of stuff, that’s what worked before today, as people are watching your video, they’re Googling your name, and Facebooking you, doing everything, if you’re not vulnerable at all times, and being yourself all the time it’s too easy to not know and it’s all about just that connection, that’s marketing today, and that’s where it’s going. – That’s what I love about you brother, you’re the real thing, it’s so rare unfortunately, ’cause you know the more you try to prove you’re the best and try to convince people and try to be significant, the more they want to prove they’re more significant than you. – Hey everyone, this is Russell Brunson again, and I wanna welcome you back to part number two of my interview with the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Tony Robbins. Now in the part number two, I’m excited for you because in here, we start diving deeper into the different types of businesses, and I go through two types of businesses I call ’em two expert businesses. One of ’em is where you become an expert selling your own products, like I was a potato gun expert, Tony Robbins is the personal development expert right?

So there’s that type of business, but the other side of it, which a lot of people don’t know about, is let’s say you already have a business, you’re selling physical products on Amazon or ecommerce things or you have a gym or maybe you are a chiropractor, or dentist, or financial planner like, if you have an existing business, you could also apply the expert strategies, that Tony and I are gonna talk about next, into your business. Now on top of that, you’re gonna learn a whole bunch of other things, like how do you create a tribe of people, what’re the three commonalities in every single tribe? ClickFunnels™ Business Success

Every mass movement that’s even been started from the beginning of time ’til now, what is a new opportunity, how do you create one, and a whole bunch of other amazing things, that you are gonna love, so with that said, let’s jump into part two of the interview with Tony Robbins. – You know in your book you talk about the two types of kind of expert businesses.

You know, the people who don’t wanna be an expert also, but just wanna grow their company, you know, how would this work for them as well? So many you can give us those differentiations so people have an understanding how to look at this. – Yeah definitely, so the first kind of expert business is one I think people are familiar with, is, I look at you like you are the king of this, right?

Like doing books and seminars and like positioning yourself as an expert, and that’s like a big piece of this, which is really really cool and I think anybody who’s got any kind of talent or specialized knowledge or something they’re passionate about can do that kind of business. And you can make great money, you can serve people.

But I know there’s a lot of people that come in my world they’re like, well, Russell, I don’t wanna do that, like I own a software company or supplement company or I’m a chiropractor or whatever those things might be, and it’s interesting like when I launched our software company, ClickFunnels™, like, it’s just a, it’s a boring software company, and we’re competing against other boring software companies. And but I was able to take all these principles we teach in here and kind of attach like a person to a software company. ClickFunnels™ Business Success

And we took it from no members to, right now, actually today, we passed 40,000 active members inside of ClickFunnels™.I think one of the fastest-growing non-VC backed startups in the world, and it’s because these principles like you take it, and it takes any kind of business and lights it on fire, in fact, I’ve got a friend who’s a financial planner and he’s, there’s how many financial planners, in Boise, Idaho, where I’m at, there’s, you know, a thousand of ’em here. But people come and they actually, they will fly over like 30 states to get to him, they’ll pay him 10 times more, and he does the exact same thing, because he’s positioned himself as this expert.

And we understand that it’s like man, like you can charge more, you’re no longer a commodity, people will come to you, you can serve people the higher level, like so many cool things come when you understand how to wrap these principles into any type of business, it doesn’t just have to be an expert business. -And I think, positioning as an expert you know, one of the things I love about what you do is you make sure the person is an expert. (laughter) So tell me, what’s the pattern that you started discovering, you talked about this in the book, that you know, every mass movement really starts with, I think it was three patterns, if I remember correctly. Yeah, it’s cool ’cause when I was creatin’ this book, and I’m just like you, like I learned this from you, I model everyone right? ClickFunnels™ Business Success

Look At The Best Business Experts: ClickFunnels™ Business Success

So I’m like okay, I’m building a software company, who do I model, who are the best out there? And I was looking at everything. Initially started the business, I look at like Apple and Steve Jobs and like, what did he do? And then I started looking at like Tesla, and Elon Musk and the I started taking a step back and I looked at politics and like, what are the people that are winning doing, versus the people that are losing, then I went and took another step back and I started studying everything from like.

The really negative like cult and how did they work and then religion, and everything in between and it was cool, as I was going deep into study, and I know you’ve done this before, you’re going through stuff and all of a sudden like, I started seeing this weird pattern. And I was in a point of immersion where I was like, for three or four weeks just geekin’ out, and it was cool as soon as I identified the pattern then I started looking at our company I was like, okay, we’re doing parts of this, or maybe one or two things, but now that I know it, how can we amplify and what are the things we can do to make it better, and so we started doing all of those pieces and then we tested them and then we’d see what would happen, and so the book’s kind of cool ’cause it gives you. And I’ll show you in a second, it shows you the strategy, here’s the three things that’ll happen, then it shows, here’s the practical application that we did inside ClickFunnels™, we did these four things, and that’s what got us from, you know, 20,000 members to 30,000 within like a three month period of time, what’re those things, and so I’ll show you guys, in my books, I’m a big doodler. ‘Cause that’s how my brain works.

But like there’s tons of sketches, like this is a sketch from this so, this right here, this is the three things every mass movement from the beginning of time, all it’s had now kinda goin’ through real quickly, number one is all of ’em have some type of charismatic leader, and that’s a big thing ’cause it’s hard to connect to just a brand. Longer term you can do that, but initially, especially like, it’s a person you connect with that gets you to wanna follow.  The number two thing in the pattern is all of ’em had like a future-based cause, that they were taking people towards. And one of the coolest ways I found, I talk about this, I went through all the US elections from the one that just happened all the way back to like George Bush, or excuse me all the way back to George Washington and what’s interesting is I was able to find most of the campaign slogans on both the sides like Republican or Democrat, it didn’t matter who won, what party or whatever, but the ones that won, all the candidates had like a very future-based cause. Think about Trump was, let’s make American great again. And all the people that lost had a very present-based cause like Hillary had, I think hers, the two or three slogans of kind of hers like, I’m with her, and very present-based things.

Even back when Obama won, Obama’s all about change, and Bush wasn’t and then like, it’s interesting and so, I started realizing that and so inside of our big mass movement we were trying to create, I realized like, we need a future-based cause, like what is that, so we created one and then we figure out how to amplify it and we show all the examples of how we’ve done that, and that gets people to want to come with you. And then the third thing, and this is probably the least understood but I think the most important is every mass movement, they, the leader offered their people a new opportunity.

Which is, they didn’t come and try to just help people become better, but they were like look, this is a new opportunity I wanted to– – How would you define, so a lot of people don’t make that, I don’t sound simple, but how do you define a new opportunity if your mind? Yeah, so there– – So many people take something that currently exists, and they convert it into seemingly a new opportunity, I’m just curious, what’s your definition? – So for me I look at like, whatever customer we’re trying to serve, right, they’re coming to us and they want a result, so they have, this is the result I wanna get over here.

And usually, we’re not the first person they came to. Like usually, they’ve been trying to get this result for a while. And they’re in some vehicle, and I like visualize it as a vehicle, they’re in a car, they’re in a vehicle, they’re driving to get to that result, and so, what most people do in business success is they come and they sell what I call improvement offers, so they’ll come and like, oh that vehicle you’re in, well, it’s like, let me step back, so an example, let’s say you’re into weightloss, let’s say you wanna lose weight, so the vehicle you might be in, let’s say it’s the Atkins diet, or it could be whatever diet right?

Think of a New Opportunity: ClickFunnels™ Business Success

And that’s the vehicle, and they’re in that thing. And so an improvement offer’s coming back and what most people do is like hey, you’re in this thing, I’m gonna make that experience better for you, we’re gonna, whatever, they try to make it better. But the hard thing is that, someone knows what that experience is like, they’re in this vehicle, trying to get their result, and if they’re not happy like, they’re not happy, and it’s no matter how hard we try to make that process better, it’s gonna be, you’re always gonna have tons of friction.

Whereas if I come and say look, –  Compare you to them even if you’re different. – Yeah exactly, so if I come and I can create an actual new opportunity and say look, get out of the vehicle you’re in gettin’ that result, come over to this vehicle, it’s completely different it’s a new opportunity, this is what’s gonna take you over here, that’s how it cause issue changes. One of my favorites, it’s a friend you and I both have, Dave Asprey, he came in with his movement, he’s like look, you’re gonna eat high fat, put butter in your coffee, all sorts of things, and people are like what in the world? – Haven’t you ever heard of that description before? You told him he was nuts! (laughter) He’s gonna end up so genius. – Oh so brilliant, and everyone’s jumpin’ from their vehicles comin’ to here ’cause like, I don’t know what they’re doin’, but that sounds way better and they come over and he’s built a huge mass movement, huge company, supplement company, retail stores, everything based on this new opportunity he provided people and it was brilliant as you know.

– Hey everyone, my name is Russell Brunson and in a few seconds from now I’m gonna actually show you an interview recently I did with my friend Tony Robbins and I talking about how to start a business online. But before we get into the interview, in case we haven’t met yet, I just wanted to introduce myself.

My name’s Russell Brunson, I started a software company a few years ago called ClickFunnels.com, you may have heard of it. This year they did over $100 million in sales, which is kinda crazy. But this interview with Tony was all about you and how can you start a business online. And what a lot of people don’t even know is that when I got started initially, the first thing I sold, I talk about it with Tony, was a DVD teaching people how to make potato guns, yes. Potato guns like this.

And so that’s how I got started, selling things like this. So for you, it doesn’t matter what you’re selling. If you have a product, an idea, a service, something, this interview’s gonna help you understand how to actually sell your products and services online, which is exciting. Now this is the first of a three-part video series.

Each part is gonna walk through part of this interview with Tony. In the first part you’re gonna learn about how I got started and how you can get started as well. You’re gonna hear stories about people like Brandon and Kaelin Poulin who were just like you initially, didn’t have a business, but they were excited, and now they’ve launched this huge company, they sell products internationally all around the world and you’re gonna hear some of those stories during this interview, so. I’m excited for you, I hope you love this, you’re gonna learn all the tools and techniques you need to start your own business online and how I’ve done it, and you’re gonna have Tony actually interview me about the whole process, which is a ton of fun, so. With that said, let’s roll the video and check out the first part of the interview.

– I’ve known Russell for about, I think about 15 years, 14, 15 years now. I’ve got to know him really well over the last decade or so and what I love about Russell is, you know, so many people are looking for ways to maximize the business or to find a way to produce a secondary income and most of the stuff that you see online is disappointing would be the nicest word I could give for it. (laughing)

There’s just so many scams, there’s so much B.S., and what I love about Russell and the reason I wanted to introduce you two briefly today is he has a new book out called Expert Secrets. The subtitle is “Help you find your message, “build a tribe, and change the world.” You just hold that up so we can all see that. (laughs) – There it is. (laughs) – And, and it, it just, what I love about Russell is just, he’s the real thing.

Why don’t you share with my audience a little bit here about how you got started in this business and a little bit of your approach to and how it differs from so many other people out there. – Yeah, so. (laughs) I actually got started in this business, man, it’s been, feels like yesterday but it’s been, you know, 10, 15 years now. And it’s funny ’cause I, I was the same way a lot of people were, I didn’t know a lot about business, I was tryin’ different things and learning from different mentors, and, and one of the very first things I ever created, in fact I sent you the first one I made, actually, was a potato gun.

And we’re making those for fun, and we had so much fun makin’ potato guns and shooting ’em and having just like, the time of our life, and then one day, I, they did like, I wonder if anyone else besides me is interested in information about potato guns? And there was nobody out selling any plans or DVDs or anything, and so I thought, there’s my first opportunity, I’m gonna become a potato gun expert.

And we went and made a potato gun DVD, my friend and I recorded it, put it online and started selling it. And it never made me rich, but it was the first thing I sold online which started makin’, you know, 20 or 30 dollars a day and it was like, the coolest thing in the world.

And, and to see people like, take what you knew and actually do something with it. And that’s, for me it’s how it began. And, and then obviously my, I didn’t want my rest of my life to be known as a potato gun expert, (laughing) as much fun as that, that is, and I’m still into that business, or into that hobby, but. That’s how it kinda began and then I started branching out. And, and it. The kinda my next obsession, I started finding other people that were really good and I was like, “Man, these.” Like, one of my friends, I don’t know if you know Howard Berg now, world’s faster reader, we partnered with him and I was like, “You’re the world’s fastest, let’s like, “let’s create informations, like, selling what you do.”

And he, and we did projects together selling his information to other people’s and, and I started getting obsessed with like, helping other people to like, take what they knew and what they were good at and put it out there and, and sell it. And, and then out of the most recent years, obviously we’ve been teachin’ a lot of people doin’ that, we’ve got software that helps people with it, but that’s kinda the, kinda the backstory. – Well you, you, you know, you’ve grown so massively, you’ve got ’em, you’ve serviced every service, almost a million business-owners over the last 10 years?

Yeah, we’ve been over that now, yeah. – That’s amazing. And then you created ClickFunnels™, we’ll talk about it as well but, tell me about how do you differentiate yourself from so many people online? Everybody on the line jumps online, everybody’s got some hook that they’re tryin’ to use to sell somebody something. You know, you’ve really differentiated yourself, I’ve found over the years. What, what do you think has separated you from the others? – I think a lot of people get into business initially ’cause they wanna make money, which is a good thing, that’s what usually start, like spurs entrepreneurship, but.

For me, what I found, I talk about this actually in the very first section of the book to kind of give people context, because then ultimately people feel guilty about that as well. But I know for me like, I was, I was learning, I was growing, and like, there came a point in my life where like no matter how much I kept learning, like, eventually you kinda stop, like it’s hard to keep progressing? Just by learning itself. And I had some big wins, I had successes, and it was like, I love celebrating ’em.

And then the first time I started, like, helping other people and it’s like, “Hey, I’m gonna, like, the stuff I’ve learned, “let me help you with it.” And, and I’d, I’d help people and they’d see their success and I, I’m sure you’re the same way, like, when you see someone else have success, it is a million times cooler than your own success. And like, for me I got addicted to that, I’m like, “Okay, “that was awesome, like, “who else can help and how else can I help?”

And, and my whole focus shifted from like, you know, how do I start a business, make money, to like, these people have messages, they’ve got things that they can, that they know that they can change other people’s lives, and I might not be the world’s fastest reader, I might not be someone who’s good at personal development or finance or any of those things, I might not be the best at it, but if I can, like, my, my gifts, my tools, if I can help them to get their message out, man, like how many more people can we, can we impact, and so that’s why I love working with entrepreneurs because it’s like, one entrepreneur can change hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of people’s lives and it’s just, it’s so much fun. –

What’s been one of the biggest campaigns that you’ve run to give people a sense of what the economic opportunity is, and then I wanna follow up and get in to a little bit about the different types of, you know, expert businesses, but. Tell us a story of one of, what’s been one of the big surprises? I know the potato gun’s where you started, but what were the big hits you’ve got, what kind of return did you get, just to give people a sense of what’s possible and I’m, and I remember you telling me how crazy you were over several of these stories, and give me one. – So many cool ones.

So I’ll share one of, one of my favorite, they’re, they’re a younger couple, they are I think 22, 23, they just got married. Brandon and Kaelin, in fact, when you spoke at our event, she was the one that had the Prada purse that you kinda teased. – Oh, yes, I remember that, yes. (laughing) – So she’s like, the coolest couple, the newlywed couple. And the first time they met me, they messaged me and they’re like, “We’re completely broke, “we have nothing, some day we’re gonna be a success story.” I was like, “All right, cool.” And then a year later they came to our event and they came up to me and they’re like

“Hey right now we’re doin’,” I think it was 80 grand a month right now, helping women to, to, to transform their bodies through weight loss. And I was like, “That’s cool.” And then they started going deeper and deeper into this. And one of my favorite things is they did a Facebook Live two months ago, following kind of the process we teach in this book. Funnels Business Success

They did the Facebook Live and it went live and, two things, number one, that Facebook Live they did, they sold over a million dollars worth of products, 22, 23 year old couple. But number two, right now they’re adding 500 women a day are coming into their programs, and they’re taking these women’s lives and radically transforming ’em.

And the case studies are just insane, so for me it’s like, the money’s cool ’cause us entrepreneurs want to know that but like, 500 women a day, every single day, are coming like clockwork into their programs. And they are having this huge impact on people’s health that, it’s just, it’s, it’s like the coolest thing in the world to watch and to see. – Well my, the crazy thing is so many people have beautiful ideas. I knew early in my career, my biggest thing was I had these skills, these abilities and talents, certain things, you know, god gives you and certain things you develop along the way.

And, but I realized my ideas were gonna die on my lips unless I learned how to market, you know? That I was not gonna change millions of people’s lives unless I could figure out how to do that as well. those same results here is your host Dave Woodward everybody welcome back to funnel hacker radio I’m your host Dave Woodward and this is kind of a weird episode actually I was driving other day with my son Parker and we were talking about some of the travel and everything else has been going on he’s like man dad you gotta just share with people some of the stuff that you learn while I’m out on the road and literally like 10 15 minutes later I received a an email from Julie hood who was the podcast and was kind enough basically right in this you know tell me she appreciated the show and all that and one thing she was talking about was the same thing and that is gotcha Dave you go out you meet with so many different people and you’re traveling around want to share more of the things that you’re running into some of the people you’re here and all that kind of stuff I thought you know it would be wrong of me not to at least share with you guys some of the opportunities and the things that I learned by literally having the opportunities associated with for me well who are some of the literally the greatest markers in the entire universe so I thought you know what I was at a genius network in the beginning of November 2017 and I had the opportunity of taking a ton of notes to everything else and I thought you do it well let me just kind of flip through my journal here and let’s kind of look into my journal and see some of the things and some of the quotes and things that I wrote down and hopefully it’s gonna be of use to you as you take a look at 2018 all the crazy stuff that’s going on so first of all if you’re not familiar with genius network genius network is ran by Joe polish a dear friend of mine and the guy is just an amazing marketer he’s been around for a long time started off in the carpet cleaning business huge huge history definitely take a look at it but what he’s done right now has created this group where basically it cost you twenty five thousand dollars a year to belong to it I think it’s ten or fifteen thousand dollars to go to the two-day annually mint where they have two hundred three hundred marketing Minds from all sorts of different industries it’s one of the reasons I really kind of like it the party enjoyed the most this year actually had another good buddy of mine JP Sears was there actually became the emcee and so the banter between the two of them was hilarious it brought a ton of energy excitement to the audience was this year unlike some of the other years to me at least the value that was created inside of that room was really really amazing and I thought I need to at least share with you guys some of the things so you kind of sit there on my desk basically with me and kind of dive into here some of the things that were said as I share with you some things that I took notes on so with all that said let me just dive right into this first of all when Joe starts off genius network on his annual event one of the things he loves is goes through a ton of just one-liners and quotes and all that kind of stuff I wrote down a few my thought was kind of cool and fun so I’ll share those with you first one of the things I wrote was life is easy when you when you live it the hard way and it’s hard when you try to live it the easy way it’s a teach credos quote so again life is easy when you live it the hard way and hard when you live it the easy way and I was talking to buddy of mine about that just the other day where so often people are always trying to look for the easy way out and every time you try to look for the easy way out it life just gets hard if you’ll just put in the work and do what it takes you’re gonna find that actually life gets easier but you have to pay the price second thing is you can’t read the label of the jar that you’re in and I thought it was kind of funny that actually is a cool little picture I wish I could share with you guys but so often we don’t understand the problems that we’re really dealing with because you don’t know the jar that you’re actually in and I think it’s important you take a look at this year and you reflect back on last year what were some of the problems and things you ran across what was the label that you were really dealing with and how are you gonna fix that so you don’t have to repeat that she can get out of that jar and into a new one the last one here he’s talked about is focus is something that you do not something that you have and the reason I really like this is we spot it spent a lot of time talking about the importance of focus and you have to understand that a lot of people will focus on how to do something themselves to me that’s like linear progression it’s like step after step after step after step the other focus that’s more of an exponential type of focus especially as an entrepreneur that you really need to pay attention to is the focus on how can you do something or how basically focus on who can do something for you and this is one of the things I’ve seen recently here at click balls russell’s just been an amazing app and that is trying to find ways of getting other people to do more of the stuff that he doesn’t have to do it’s not his unique skillset it’s not his superpower so often as entrepreneurs we get started business and life and everything else we get so focused on thinking I’m the only person who can do it I’m the only person who can do it as good as I know it needs to be done realize that it typically doesn’t need to be done as good as you think it does and second of all there might be someone who’s actually even better at it than you and it’s not something that you enjoy so this year as you take a look at it don’t focus on on linear type of focus as far as how to do something yourself focus on who could you actually who can you find to do something for you and for me it’s been a huge huge relief I I get real busy during the day and one of the things I hate to have to do is worry about eating it drives my wife crazy because I just don’t care but for me one of the best things is I actually have my son Parker helped me find a cook for a Russell night and it’s the great thing with a little bring food in it’s already here I bring it in every single day and I’ve got it basically for my meals are done I don’t have to think about I have to worry about that so I can focus on other types of things so you take a look at your life look at the things that you can basically get exponential returns on you’re really trying to find a way of maximizing your time let me just dive in some of these other notes here um Jason Flavian a dear friend of mine did a we’ve done webinars with him in the past he’s come out with his change webinars one things he talked about was the importance of testimonials now obviously anybody who’s done any marketing understands how important testimonials are he took it another step further and he said the hard part for a lot of entrepreneurs is and people especially on webinars is they save their testimonials to the end well Jason actually started off with was his testimonials in the beginning and found testimonials that he actually used to overcome objections and what he’s really said is what he tries to find is his very best testimonials and tries to find a way of using those testimonials at least three times throughout a webinar and it’s not the exact same testimonial typically it’s that person but it’s three different parts of it so it may be the person who and they tell you almost this of all this the first part of the testimonials where they were and then how they got through it and then how there’s life is now and so you’re actually using that person so you’re weaving them into the story of your webinar it’s done a great job with that the other thing was the importance of content and one things you talked about was you need to present things especially in a webinar setting to people more on a road map so you say you know what you don’t want to have less than three steps and you don’t want to have more than five but by telling people okay this is the third step four the fourth step or the fifth step they’re able to chronologically pay attention to it the other thing that it does is it it sets up open loops where they know they need to get five things so as you take a look at your content the whole idea there is to make sure that you’re doing it in a way that that really ties them in engaged they’re obviously Russell’s done an amazing job on his on his perfect webinar script you don’t have that by all means go to perfect webinar comm and get it but I just want to make sure that you understand the importance of using testimonials as well as a content the other thing he’s talked about was the importance of getting 150 yeses before you sell them anything now if you followed experts secrets book you see in there all the different opportunities as far as closes that you’re setting people up to get those yeses but one of the things that Jason said I really liked and that is make sure that you get a transcription of the webinar and see how many times yes is you actually get before you have to get to that close so look to try to get 150 yeses in I thought it was a really cool idea been hard he’s a great guy if you haven’t followed Betty’s he’s actually ClickFunnels™ user he’s been crushing it on medium all I’m gonna tell you right now it’s a topic I’m probably trying to get him on on a future podcast for but again just a guy who’s killing it out there one of the things Randi Zuckerberg was there she’s Mark Zuckerberg sister and she actually was the creator of Facebook live she’s now since left Facebook and is doing her own thing but it was fascinating hearing from her some of the different things that she went through and I thought what was really kind of cool about the whole idea was you know people were asked her a bunch of different questions and one of the questions they they asked her about was work-life balance and her whole thing is that there’s no way in the world to truly have a balanced work-life it just doesn’t happen and if you think it’s going to you you set yourself up for failure and frustration everything else so her secret or her tip basically was that there’s five things that she has basically these two balance she has to balance her work her sleep her family her friends and her fitness said for me I look at it and say you know what I can only pick three of those and I’m only gonna focus on getting three of those a day and that’s it and by doing that that was her way of creating balance so maybe maybe the this for today she was gonna the three she was gonna focus on would be work family and fitness well that means she’s probably not gonna get as much sleep as she wanted she if I’m not gonna have any contact with her friends but that allowed her that opportunity of getting accomplish what she needed to and then the other thing she said is to make sure that you you identify is the juice worth the squeeze in other words if what you’re going after is it really worth it and yeah that’s something that’s internal you have to decide for yourself but it was one of the things she tried to use as a guiding post for hers is the juice worth the squeeze a couple of the other things she made mention of was some business advice and then personal advice the business advice you know someone basically so ready what’s the what business buys would you give to us as entrepreneurs and she said you’re never as good as they say you are and you’re never as bad as they say you are and it kind of got a laugh out of the audience but it is really true some people who love you they’re giving you all the praise in the world and all of a sudden you think you’re this amazing super person you’re probably not as great as as they may think you are at the same time I know in my own personal life and work life I’ve been amazed at times how mean some people can be and just realize that that you’re never as bad as they as they say you are the advice that she had personally and this was kind of a getting kind of funny advice people are saying well what’s the personal advice you’d give just as entrepreneur she goes well if you’re not throwing up at least once a month due to the stress you’re not doing enough that’s not I I usually don’t try to throw up once a month but I I got the idea behind it and that is you’ve got to often people don’t want to put themselves out and get into stressful situations you gotta you gotta get there you gotta live on that you got to be able to to realize that there’s so much you have to give and and get uncomfortable and get used to being uncomfortable Tony Robbins was there always love having Tony’s always drop in value mom’s left and right a couple things he made mention of and that was start doing a weekly company video and then share testimonials of clients one things he talked about was to go from a hundred million to a billion dollars his secret there was you had to become obsessive about the ideal customer that you want you have to know in detail exactly who that person is what do they like what do they where do they live I mean just he went through a whole list of different ideas the other thing made mention up was the fact as far as don’t fall in love with your product or your service people are not loyal to products or services and realized the product lifecycle that he’s seen these days is about four to six months the other thing he said was you need to draw a line a line in the sand and become an owner not an operator and this is one of the things we’ve really looked at I’ve looked at my own business life many times and that is there is such a huge difference between being a business owner and a business operator if you’re not familiar with what I’m referring to I’m not going to take time right now you need to research that you really need to understand there’s a massive massive difference mentally as well as the activities that you actually take on when you go from operator to owner and I think it’s really important as you take a look at 2018 here try to find out what are the things that you can do to become more of the business owner instead of the business operator the last thing Tony said which I I just love it it’s just pure toning that is said you know what a belief is a poor substitute for an experience and the man that is such great advice so often people have all these crazy beliefs and things but they never actually had the experience and he talked about his travels and being around the world in different countries and everything else and he says you know people believe all these different things about different people who live in different parts of the world he goes you don’t know what it’s like until you actually experience it until you’ve actually gone out till you’ve actually travel to that place so you’ve walked in their shoes so just realize that whatever beliefs you have a belief is a poor substitute for experience so this year in 2018 try to find some ways that you can actually get more experiences in your life I’m a huge huge believe my kids always joke around about with me because gives me nothing to me experiences me in the world and other words I all spent a ton of money on experiences that I wouldn’t spend on a gift and for me I I just realize know what I learned so much more from an experience it’s something that I treasure and I look forward to it’s one of the reasons I I get so excited every single day so I’m trying to find out what new experience can I have today versus tangible things gifts they come and go the cars come and go that all that time to get on that soap opera clock to learn anyways just realize uh police a poor substitute for experience and this year trying to find a way of getting more experiences Naveen Jane was there his whole thing was on moonshots again InfoSpace moon express by ohm billionaire running three different billion dollar companies crazy crazy guy most down-to-earth humble kind the world I didn’t know who I was talking to I felt almost embarrassed but he was just the coolest guy ever but one things he was talking about is you have to fall in love with your customer and not the product which was kind of funny because it was a couple hours after so after Tony spoken but it’s so true it again me they both made the same thing that’s fall in love with your customer not your product and if you do that you’ll find that you create the very best products you’ll create the best experiences for them you’ll be you’ll have their heart and everything in mind and you’ll do what’s right for them so again fall in love your customer not the product the other thing you said is focus on the big stuff said so are you guys how many guys are are half-full vs. half-empty type of people and you know people have all over you know different hands raising up most of everyone in the group was you know half-full egos you know what it doesn’t matter if you’re half-full or half-empty what matters is do you want to fill the glass I thought that was really cool as far as you got to focus on the big step is is it doesn’t matter what your thought process they are about the jar you’re into the glass order them mindset realize is it worth filling up and if it is man overfill it just go all in on it so I love that idea a couple other things let’s see here and was his email I’m not gonna give you the email sorry I’m Peter Diamandis and Dan Sullivan both got up and they were talking a lot of their stuff was really cool they’re talking about the importance of longevity and living longer and it was just fascinating to me to see when you start associate with people who mindsets far surpass where you currently are and the thing that’s so far out of the box it’s just blows my mind because I mean for them their whole thing is longevity how long do you how long how old do you want to be and I think Dan Sullivan was you know I don’t plan on dying in some 147 and if he I think Naveen Jane was somewhere that two hundreds and it was interesting he said you know both of them wanted to live through an entire century from as a book and basically so whatever wherever they were born on one end of the century they want to have that same experience on the other end of another century the other thing they talked about is when you start thinking that way that life isn’t a 80 year life cycle or a hundred years you start planning differently you look at your finances differently you look at people differently you look at your experiences differently and so it was just really a kind of cool concept the other thing they talked about was again gratitude creates abundance and if you haven’t already read Peter commonness the book abundance or bold highly recommended great books amazing amazing content um but the whole idea behind that was understanding how important just being appreciative is there’s emotional gratitude and then what you’ll find is as you express that type of gratitude you actually have you provide higher value economically to others as well it’s a weird thing and on but I’m just a huge believer in it you’ve got to be more appreciative and express that appreciation let people know about it too often people just don’t aren’t willing to share that kind of stuff when things dan sullivan talked about was free days and buying back time she says you know buying back time for him is the most important thing I think Dan’s in his late 70s and his whole focus right now is on on how do I buy back time in other words doing those things that gave him the greatest result and the importance then of having three days a lot of us here you know hustle hustle hustle hustle hustle it says for him the most important thing is blocking time out where he literally blocks out this is a free day where I’m not doing anything this is my time and he just totally protects it it’s a three day for him from work and everything else to do whatever in the world is that he wants instead of letting other people control your time he’s like you know what for me those are my free days no one could book any time during my freedom but me the other thing was the importance of buffer days and focused days for him he says you know there times where you have you have to have a focus day where literally no one’s allowed to interrupt you your door you don’t look at email you do anything you have got to get things done deadlines are approaching it’s time to focus it says a lot of times we get focused we get so concerned I’m trying to get everything done at the same time that you don’t get focused energy without that focus energy you can’t create the very best so for him eBay is there’s there days that are blocked out as a free day there’s other days that are blocked out as focus days where there’s no interruptions no meetings nothing else I’m doing nothing else but the project that I know I need to do but then he said the other part was the importance having a buffer day and he said a lot of times people will stack ten focus days back-to-back he goes that’s just not realistic you’ve got to be able to put a buffer day in there and that buffer day is a day where you basically say you know I I realize there’s gonna be a lot of stuff I got to get done and I can’t put everything off forever so my buffer day just gives me a cushion and what he said is it actually decreases his stress because he can push things off because he knows he’s got a buffer day coming and so I highly encourage you guys take a look at your calendars and say okay schedule right now what are gonna be my free days what are gonna be my focused days where are my buffer days gonna be and tribal to at least you know at this point at least go for a month look out a month and say okay what which ones are free days buffer days and focus days and schedule those um trying to keep this concise and short but the same time wanna get us all out to you let’s see your oh the other thing he talked about was be 100% in charge but with no control give control to others and thought wow that’s kind of crazy but what I’ve seen recently and recently literally being the last today’s Friday before Christmas started on Monday we brought James Friel in the office James is amazing at systems and operations and given to the podcast a lot long time to go with him if you wanted to go check that out but one thing his whole thing’s is creating systems and I know Russell’s gonna do a podcast on this later as far as the whole bat-signal type of stuff so I’m not gonna talk about that but I do want to express to you what has happened here living in the last two or three days is so what we’re seeing is Russell’s 100% in charge but he’s pushing control out to other people and by doing that it’s increased his creativity which seems next to impossible do but it has and it’s it’s allowed him to take off some of the gas in one area and apply it to his unique ability which is actually accelerating things even faster for us so I’d really encourage you to take a look at how can you be 100% in charge with no control and how can you give control to other people Dean Graciosa was there one of my favorite things he talked about was understand that irritated oysters make pearls and I’ll leave on this note here this whole idea behind it is you have to understand that you get so frustrated times you get gosh nothing’s working it’s not going the way I want it to go realize that those little irritations those little irritations inside of the oyster that’s what makes the pearl and for you guys I promise you those you guys are listen to this realize that the little irritations that you’re focusing on is that you’re that you’re wrapping your brain around and you’re trying to get control over that little I’m fun our kids are here it’s like it’s insanely cool [Music] you have a prospector getting hair makeup we got lights camera office crew a huge office happening over here you have the American jury you are gonna start your own company put your own boss Wow one free back rub is one free high-five now pretty foot rub or may not you this is crazy that’s a real squirrel when I got this that had a decade of my life and no one’s ever sent pizza until today kudos to you for paying attention and we’ll see if he gets the job oh it’s been dropped guess what today is it’s that day all right so what’s that about about to start and I got kind of nervous I forgot I haven’t prepared anything so I ran here I just did like 45 slides in the last 45 minutes a slide a minute and then how many were in the room right now so there’s only 66 seats total and there are 64 butts in those oh yeah these are great people in there too is like you got like people there are some people he’s nervous I never saw you walk in this morning hear stories this morning I was trying to leave I had to go to the bathroom so I go my doors my house like the thick like big door so I gotta grab my door and I’m turning and like my brain must be slow today I’m turning it I go this who at my finger goes smack in the door probably 20 minutes I was screaming like well I was screaming like his redneck what happened my Bloods coming off my fingernail and like anyway oh do a dramatic and then never go to the bathroom so I got off some I forgot that’s why Islamic hey I’m good now cuz you’re all wondering so alright here it comes I start every vent like this it goes Oh oh I always start our event like that we’re super excited we’re not getting started I just do that every time oh yeah whoa [Music] sitting next to Russell said the key to go from six to seven figures and and sit there and Russell said there’s no difference going from six to seven figures in terms of hours you work there’s no difference Bob times we think that’s the way it is though instead it’s all about settling one to one it’s all about selling one to me and if you watch the way Russell doesn’t and when you’re gonna learn about its career days you’re gonna learn much about one too many crazy swinging because you’re going to know how to letters all about leverage there was a whole treatment so that especially to date today’s very so zero and this actually is a little bit bigger on our side like wait because we’re really good marketers all right it’s about to start it’s the first podcast thing you’ve ever been nervous for our last time if you like comment later and then you like broadcast on Twitter at like three or four times a day for us two and a half three years so and yes say it’s gonna be like stuck baby be careful the problem the more they like it the more excited I get so I have a call within a few seconds with them and I’m gonna have him pick a problem to solve which is gonna be awesome what problems we haven’t saw I was gonna say geez oh man I’m hit men without a without a trace just kidding [Music] okay so a couple years ago I shouldn’t get a hold of somebody and I tried everything I tried snail mail fax email everything possible and nothing got ahold of them I had this idea said what if I called the pizza place next to his house and deliver pizza with his name on it so I’m deliver pizza and I hear back from him so I had him I call back a couple as later I had him deliver ten pizzas with my name and phone number on it and then he got back home with me anyway I told that story a lot over the last decade in my life and no one’s ever sent a pizza until today today somebody the pizza place knock on door said hey I have a pizza for Russell Brunson I’m like that’s me and then they handed me this note that said Russell got a – that’s – come with this phone number how far is that it’s a great great job I’m impressed that’s um kudos to you for paying attention and we’ll see if he gets So with any type of business, product or service, you can either simply sell stuff, very transactional, one-off and boring… OR you can create a movement where people buy from you over and over and over again!

As I was trying to figure this out for myself, building my company I studied a whole bunch of mass movements throughout time. It was fun because I was studying pretty much everything I could find about cults, about religious groups, and about business.

It was interesting… I found patterns on all ends of the spectrum… when I looked on the very worst side of mass movements, to people like Hitler and the Nazi party or when I looked on what I believe is the greatest mass movement that’s ever been, Christ and Christianity, there were similar patterns!

Then I started looking at business and what Steve Jobs did with Apple, what Elon Musk has done with Tesla. I came to realize that there are three things that every mass movement from the beginning of time until today has. I’m talking about cults, religious groups, businesses, all of them had the exact same three things.

I want to walk you through really quickly what these things are because when you understand them you understand a pattern that you can actually apply in your business in order to get things growing really really quickly.

Number One: every single mass movement has a charismatic leader. Think about it… Apple had Steve Jobs, Tesla had Elon Musk, Germany had Hitler, Christianity had Christ… every mass movement from the beginning of time always has an attractive character & charismatic leader. That’s number one.

Number two: every single one of these mass movements always has a cause. Something they are moving forward to in the future. In fact, look at all the recent presidential elections, in the book I go deep into this. It’s interesting how all of the people who have won the presidency, democrat or republican, does not matter… the ones who won consistently, there message was all about a future based cause and the ones that lost were all about a present based cause. That’s number two.

Number three: every single mass movement leads with a new opportunity (as opposed to an improvement offer)… Steve Jobs didn’t come to market saying hey guys, I’ve got a better way to listen to CD’s. No he said, “that vehicle you guys are using is in the past, a CD player is dumb I have this thing called an iPod.” Or with the phone for example, he didn’t say, “I’ve got a phone that’s a gonna be better.” Instead he introduced a brand new opportunity called an iPhone.

A similar thing happened with Christ and Christianity, same thing with Hitler, same thing with every mass movement from the beginning of time… they always offered a new opportunity it was never an improvement offer. If you are struggling in your business right now my guess is you’re missing one or two of these three things. This is the foundation of how to create a mass movement.
