Hey this is Russell Brunson and welcome back to my YouTube channel. I’m so excited to have you here today. Today’s video will be talking about a secret funnel strategy that’s literally taking new business owners from startup phase to Two Comma Club winners in a very short period of time and that’s what we’ll be talking about, but before we get into the training, I really quick want to make sure that you are subscribed to my channel.

With that said, I want to share with you guys this funnel strategy. If you know anything about me, my name’s Russell. I own a company called ClickFunnels and I am obsessed with sales funnels. But what is a sales funnel? A sales funnel is a simple, easy way to sell stuff online.

When you start figuring out how to use it, it makes selling stuff online so easy. This is the big secret funnel strategy. What we do is we use a concept called funnel hacking. What that means, you can go and you can find people online who are making thousands or millions of dollars online and let’s say they have a sales funnel and say page one looks like this and maybe on page one they have a headline and they ask for your email address and the submit button. Then from there, they take you to page number two where they’re selling something.

Maybe there’s a video up top and maybe there’s some headlines down here and then there’s a big order button and then from there you’re taken to a page that has an upsell, we’ll call this upsell and there’s a video with an upsell with a page and then from there it takes you to a member’s area with a whole bunch of cool stuff. You guys have seen this before. If you’ve ever bought anything online, you’ve gone through a sales funnel, but a lot of times we look at a sales funnel, we buy the thing, we’re like, oh that’s really, really cool, but what I want you to do is I want you to slow down next time you buy something and look at the process.

We call this funnel hacking. Look at what happened with page one and page two and page three and page four. These funnels are not just made by happen chance. There’s people like me who are obsessed, who geek out on this all day every single day and every single piece is like art. When you start looking at that you say, okay, what did this company do? Let’s say there’s a company online who’s selling supplements and they’re doing really, really well. They’re selling things and you look at the sales process.

Let’s say they’re selling this and on the home page there’s a bottle of this, but they have the upsell they’re selling more bottles and over here they’re selling something different. If you’re selling a supplement, you can look at that as a business model. I look at funnels as models. I like to funnel hack someone, I buy their product, I look at what it looks like, and then from there you can map out your business model. Say, okay, when I built my funnel I know that I’m going to need a page like that as well. They’re selling, let’s say it’s a keto supplement or they’re selling a supplement for dogs or whatever it might be. I look at that and say, okay, how do I change it? I’m not going to copy anything, but I’m gonna model it.

I’m gonna model the look and the feel and the layout. I look at that and say, okay, what’s my headline gonna be and I’m gonna ask for an email address as well and if I’m here I’m gonna look at the second page. Obviously, they have their sales video, but I’m gonna put my sales video there and then I’m gonna have my copy. I’m not gonna copy anything, but I’m gonna model the layout of things, so I model the layout. Then I look at the upsell and I model the layout of that as well and I model every single piece of the process.

Clickfunnels™ Sale Strategy: Don’t waste time on business plan

I think a lot of times people who are trying to start a business online, they struggle because they’re trying to be creative and trying to figure out a business model and a business plan. People submit to me all the time, here’s my business plan, Russell, it’s like 500 pages and I’m like, but do you even know what you’re selling and how you’re selling it? The hardest thing about making money online is figuring out what you’re selling and how you’re selling it and the best way to figure out how to sell it is to look at somebody else who’s selling something similar. Look at their sales funnel, funnel hack it.

Look at it, map out what it looks like, and then now you know what you need to build. This is your business model. I always tell people if they want to submit a business model to me, this is what I want to see. What is gonna be on your landing page, what’s gonna be your sales page, what’s on the upsell, what’s on the downsell, what does that look like, and then you go back and you create it, and that’s what funnel hacking is. That’s what the whole secret funnel strategy is that I wanted to share with you that’s getting people from startup phase to Two Comma Club winners practically overnight.

– Hey everyone, it’s Russell. Welcome back to the show. Today I’m gonna be answering a bunch of questions related to marketing and business, and growing your funnels and a whole bunch of other cool stuff, and the question I got right now from you guys is a conversion problem. The question is Russell, my sales funnel won’t convert, what are the common problems that prevent funnels you see from converting. Okay, I’m glad you asked this, ’cause this is like so much fun.

Alright so if you look at any funnel, right, there’s different pieces of it. So part of it’s figuring out which piece it is, right. So over here you have like the ad. So let’s say this is Facebook and you have the news feed and here’s your friend, there’s your mom, and then all of a sudden there’s the ad in the middle. And then there’s other stuff here, and the stuff here.

Then over here you’ve got a landing page. I’ll put L.P. And over here you have a sales page, S.P. And this is your funnel, which is like the most important work in marketing is sales funnel, okay. Alright, so then the question is, my sales funnel’s not converting, what are the common problems that prevent funnels you see from converting? It always comes down to one of three things.

Number one, it’s a problem with your hook, okay. So what’s the hook? The hook is the thing, like someone’s on your phone right here, and they’re scrolling through like crazy, right, looking at stories from their friends, and their mom, and their grandma, and al of a sudden they see your ad and they keep…

The hook is anything that gets them to stop they what was that. It stops them from scrolling, grabs them and like says I need your attention. Okay, so your hook. If your hook is horrible here, if nobody’s clicking your ad. Or the hook is horrible here if nobody’s giving you their email address. Or the hook is horrible here if nobody’s giving you money. So first problem’s always the hook problem.

Number two is a story problem, okay. After you grab somebody you have their attention for five seconds, then you tell them the story about why they should click on your ad, why they should give you their email address, why you should… It’s always the second step is the story, right. After you have their attention, you tell them story about why. Why are they clicking on this ad? Why are they giving you email? Why are they giving you money? Okay, that’s your story.

Now if you’ve read the Expert’s Secrets book, in Expert Secrets I show you guys through story structure. I talk about epiphany bridge stories and a whole bunch of other things like that. If you haven’t read this yet, go find the sections here on story, how to tell your story the right way. Okay, and then the third is your offer. If your funnel’s not converting, the third reason why not is ’cause your offer just sucks. That’s why people aren’t giving you money. That’s it, it’s pretty simple.

So if your offer sucks, make a better offer. If nobody’s clicking your ad, it means you’re not giving them enough reason. Like, what’s the offer? Why am I clicking on your ad? I gotta keep scrolling through looking at cat pictures and weird stuff like that. Why should I stop and click on your button? What’s the offer? Well if you click on this button I’m gonna show you a case study about blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Oh cool, that’s a good offer I’m gonna click on that.

Then you come over here and I’m gonna give you my email address, I’m gonna give you this report, and if nobody gives you anything, it means nobody wants a report, the offer’s no good. So change it, maybe instead of a report, you have a video. You know give ’em these two or three things. Maybe I’ve gotta find something that’s sexier, right. You’re figuring out something, you gotta make a better offer. Or if they’re not giving you money, same reason.

The offer’s no good. Make better offer. If you make a better offer, people are more likely to actually give you money. It’s always one of those three things, either hook, story, offer. Now what’s important to understand is that every page in this process there’s a hook, a story, and a offer. There’s a hook on your ad.

There’s a story in your ad. There’s an offer on your ad. On the landing page, hook, story, offer. On your sales page, hook, story, offer. Everything that’s happening inside your funnel, and outside your funnel. Every piece, every email you get, there’s a hook, a story, an offer. In fact, you wanna see what works, go back to your email, go back to gmail whatever, scroll through, look at what emails you actually clicked on, and you’ll realize that there was a hook.

The subject line was a hook. Like, what was it that made you click on that subject line? And then open the email and look, did you click on the link? ‘Cause there’s some story in the email, and if you clicked on it then that hook and that story in the email got you there, and then look at the page, did you give ’em money? Did you give ’em your email address? If so, what was the hook, the story, offer on that page?

– Alright, for everyone who’s tuning in, my name is Russell Brunson and right now I’m going to be covering another really cool question about how to grow your company, how to do funnels, and today’s question is called Funnel Profits. “Russell, what can I do to 10x my Sales Funnels’ profit?” Okay, so I’m going to begin by doodling out a sales funnel now, obviously every sales funnel is different.

Ever since we launched the company Click Funnels, people have been able to create all sorts of sales funnels so you can do simple ones, complex ones, there’s a bunch of variations but most sales funnels aren’t that complicated, right? Unless you are using really confusing software, then some people get really confusing but I like to keep it simple. So, most of mine are going to be like a landing page where my goal is to get somebody’s email address. So it’s going to be an email form and a button.

Then from there I go to a sales page, or maybe there’s a video and then there’s a button where somebody gives me money and then the next page, maybe there’s a page where there’s another video here and then there’s an upsell where they click a button and there’s an upsell. So, like, that’s a basic funnel, right? And so the coolest thing about what we do as funnel builders inside of Click Funnels and if you’ve read the Dotcom Secrets book or any of my books, I go deep into how these things work like step one, step two and that a whole bunch of different funnel types but what people understand is that the reason why this is so magical and the reason why I’m making really simple funnels is because I can test something, right? So let’s say I create the funnel the best I can, I don’t know if it’s going to work or not, then I go over and I talk to Mr. Zuckerberg over at Facebook and I say I’m going to buy some ads.

Right, so I go and I buy some ads and I drive traffic into this. Now what’s cool about this is I can go and I can buy some ads and some people, depending on your budget might be like 10 dollars, or 50 dollars, or 100 or 1,000 or something but I usually put some money in and I sit back and I just wait and I watch it and what’s going to happen is the ads, the market is going to show me exactly what’s working, what’s not working. Okay? So what’ll happen is like, let’s say I spent 1,000 bucks, right.

So say I spent 1,000 bucks let’s say it cost me a dollar per click just to make the numbers easier, right. 1,000 people end up showing up on this landing page. So then I look at, okay, of the 1,000 people ending up on the landing page, how many people gave me their email address? And I’ll look at that number and say, okay, looks like we had 378 people gave me their email address so, the conversion of step one and step two is with 378.

They also, okay, from 378 people gave me their email address how many actually purchased? And I’ll say okay, well, we ended up having, say, 10 people that actually purchased, and say, okay, how many people took the upsell? From the upsell we say, okay, we had one person take the upsell, right? So now I look at these numbers and I say, okay, what is, like, 1,000 people came, and I got 1,000 dollars so that means the ad, it means I’m spending about a dollar per click which is actually really, really good, right?

So I know that the ad over here, so this is Facebook and I’m placing the ad, okay, I know that that worked, that was good so I’m not going to touch the ad, because the ad’s perfect. And I come over here, 1,000 people hit, 378 so that means that 37% opt in, right, which is pretty good, that’s not horrible, it’s not the best but it’s pretty good. Okay, so that means if I draw a little number here, it means 37.8% of the people opted in on this page. So this page is a winner winner chicken dinner.

I’m not going to touch it but I’m going to be very excited about it, right. So now 378 came to this page and 10 bought so what’s the math on that for all our mathematicians at home. Let’s see, it means, what, 3.7%, I believe. Am I right on that? Anyone check my math? (laugh) Bought off this thing here, and 1/10 means 10% bought here. So I’m looking at all these things, so 37%, 3.7%, 10%. So if I’m looking at this funnel and I’m coaching somebody, I’m going to say, okay, what’s broken? The ads are doing awesome, a buck per click, winner, that’s awesome.

Funnels 10x Sales Profit: What should be the upsell rate?

Number two, 37% opt-in rate, that’s cool, we’re not going to worry about this. 3% sales rate, that’s, depending on the price point here, that’s not too bad, and then 10% upsell rate, 10%, like that’s, maybe that’s really really low, right? And again, I can shift these numbers, let’s say I shift these numbers and I go from 378 to let’s say we only get 78 people to opt-in, right? And then all of a sudden these numbers start shifting so now it’s like oh, crap, in this funnel we only had 7.8% opt-in rate.

Now I’m looking at that and I’m like there’s your issue, that’s the problem. That’s a horrible opt-in rate. So what do we know? It means I didn’t use enough curiosity on the landing page. It means my landing page was too flashy, it was confusing people, whatever it is. So I’ve got to change that, right, so I come in there and we call these funnel audibles, I come in there, I call them audible, I need to tweak this page a little bit. I make some tweaks, some changes, and hopefully this goes from 7% to 17%.

And we keep tweaking it, and now it’s 27%, now it’s 37%, we make the changes, and then eventually this goes back to green where we’re like sweet, that number’s awesome, I’m really happy at 37% that opted in. And now, you know I put a dollar into ads now, maybe back here two dollars pop back out. Which that’s all marketing is, it’s all funnels are is how do I build a funnel where I put a dollar in advertising in and get two dollars back out. Okay, if you had a slot machine where you put a dollar in and every time it popped out two dollars, how many times would you put a dollar in? You’d put in a dollar every single day as often as fast as you could, right? So same thing, so we’re building the slot machine where you put a dollar in, get two dollars back out.

That’s all we’re playing with this game, it’s super fun. And so, all I’m looking at is okay, I put the dollar in, I get two dollars back out, if not, which one of these numbers is skewed. And then I figure out, okay, opt-in rate is awesome but this is only converting it at a 0.5%? That’s the red one, this is the one, something’s not right here. And my video’s not right, or the offer’s not right, or something’s not right, so I’m going to tweak some stuff, change some things, spend a little bit more money and see what happens.

Funnels 10x Sales Profit: Do couple of tweaks until it works

And then I’m going to make some tweaks, some changes, spend some more money, and keep going with that process until it works and I have a funnel where I can put a dollar in advertising in and get two dollars back out. So that’s how we 10x our Sales Funnels’ profits. If you look at anybody in my inner circle, people I coach directly, my own funnels, this is the game we play. We create our best version we possibly can, we go spend some money on ads, and then we sit back and watch, see what happens, and then we come back and say oh, our guess on this page was wrong. Or this was awesome, that’s awesome, this is doing bad.

Or these three are doing awesome but our ad costs we’re paying like 22 dollars per click maybe our ad’s horrible, let’s change the ad around. And you just make a couple adjustments and tweaks until it works, and as soon as it works you’ve got something you can put a dollar in and get two dollars back out. Then you just dump in as many dollars as you can and every once in a while, not all the time but every once in a while you build a funnel that’s so good where instead of putting a dollar in and getting two out, you put a dollar in and you get three out, or five out, or 10 out, and this is like the big paydays you’re looking for.

But we don’t know which ones this is going to be which is why it’s so much fun building funnels inside of Click Funnels. You try one, test it out, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Then you try another one, sometimes it works, it doesn’t. Try another one, make some tweaks, make some changes until boom, something hits and then it’s off to the races. So, that is how you 10x your sales profit it’s just by watching the numbers and doing basic, simple math, making simple adjustments, trying again, and keep doing that until you have something that actually works. Hey, for those who are just tuning in, my name is Russell Brunson and today I’m gonna be answering a whole bunch of different questions on marketing and sales and growing your company and funnels and traffic and making money and a whole bunch of stuff in between. But today’s question is one of my favorites. In fact, it might cause a little bit of a rant. The question is, websites versus funnels. And the questions says, so maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t see a difference between a website and a sales funnel. Why do I need a sales funnel? Oh, thank you for asking that question. I’m gonna try to doodle this kinda fast so you guys don’t miss any of it. So this is a traditional website, okay? You come right here, you got your website, I’m sure you guys have seen this a billion times. Website. And on top you’ve got your logo and there’s like a navigation menu, there’s a secondary menu, then right here if they click on any of these it drops down a sub-menu with like 20 different options. You click here there’s like 20 more options. Then there’s like a section here and a section here and a section here and a section here and then, every section they click takes them somewhere else.

And then it takes ’em to the secondary page and the third page and they, on page like 92 there’s like a place where we ask for money, right? I’ll make it green. This is where we finally ask for money. That’s a traditional website. What does that look like to you? Let’s you go and you give Mr. Zuckerberg some money on Facebook, he drives a whole bunch of people here. It’s literally like, let’s say you have a store, and in front of the store you had a whole bunch of people blocking people from coming into the front door, you’re like, ah, ah, but wait, hold on, do you wanna know about us? Wait, you wanna contact us? Wait, do you want my about page? Wait, do you wanna see my product page? What do you wanna see, and you’re like blocking them with all of these links. They’re coming here to get to the link right here, let’s say this is like the money link where they’re gonna give you money because of this page right here. But they gotta pass one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, there’s like 20 or 30 things they have to navigate around to get to the spot where you actually want, where they ask you do something to do give you money or to become a lead or whatever it is.

That is your traditional website. They drive me nuts, though, right? There’s either that or the other variation. If you’re looking at these in the real world one of ’em is like, here’s your storefront, and you’ve got like armed guards out front blocking people from coming through the door. So there’s your website, that’s what a lot of you guys are doing if you got a tradiational website. You’re like, don’t come in, please, I want to confuse you. The number one rule of direct response marketing is a confused mind will always say no. So you are blocking them and confusing them, they’re like, ah, I don’t know what to do, and they just leave. Or the second option is you do more like a traditional e-commerce store or Amazon. And you don’t have these guys blocking ’em, but you’re like, welcome to my store, and they walk in there’s a billion things and they walk in they’re like, I don’t know what to do. Or they walk, have you guys ever walked in the library? I wanna learn how to tie my shoe.

You walk in the library and there’s like eight levels like 800 books, you’re just like, um, I don’t know what to do, and you walk out. best experience possible so step number one, what are you actually looking for? I’m like, oh, I’m going on a camping trip this weekend. Cool, so what do you want? I’m like, I’m actually looking for a tent. He’s like, oh, you want a tent, okay. And the guy grabs me over here and takes me over to the tents. He’s like, here is the tent section, Russell. I’m like, oh, sweet, the tent is awesome. Thank you so much for the tent. And they’re like, what else do you need on this trip you’re going on? I’m like, well, I’m gonna go backpacking with my kids. Well, do you have a backpack? No. Oh, well, you should get a backpack. And the dude walks me over here and I get a backpack. And he takes me through a customized sales process specifically for me.

That’s what a funnel is. When I drive somebody from Facebook and they come to a page, page number one is a very simple like usually there’s one thing, right? A confused mind always says no, so maybe I’m saying, hey, welcome to my landing page. In fact, if you go to ClickFunnels.com right now you’ll notice it’s like, hey, a lot of people use ClickFunnels™. Tell me kind of business you’re in and I’ll tell you exactly what type of funnel you need. And so I have this like survey here. They tell me exactly what kind of funnel they have. Based on that I have 10 different pages I take them to. Just like if this dude, if I walked in and I was like, hey, I run a retail location, how do I use

funnels? He wouldn’t walk me over to some other weird section, he’d take me exactly where it is. So on page one of funnels it’s very simple. I ask who they are, what they want. I take ’em specifically to a page that gets ’em exactly what they want. And then from there, I take ’em to the next page and I’m able to walk them through a very simple sales process where they only see one thing at a time, I take ’em through this process, and what happens is two things. Number one, this customer that you just paid for to get to your website or to your funnel, because he now has a customized experience, he ends up being really happy, like a lot happier, right? He’s like, wow, these guys treated me really, really well. They didn’t just like slam me into a brick wall and hope I could figure my way out. They didn’t block me and confuse me.

They took me through a very systematic sales process so I understood exactly what I was doing. So your customer becomes really happy. The second thing is, you, as the shop owner, you can come down here, you become more happy because guess what happens? They end up paying you more money. (thuds) – All right, welcome back, now we are moving on to the last step in your initial funnel education. And this is one of the most important, yet one that people understand the least. And it makes me laugh because, if you look at traditional selling a product or a service, like people know this, it’s how do you sell the product or service, right? We call this online, inside of our phones, we call it copywriting. It’s the words on the page, the headlines, the words in the video, the words on the webinar, like all those things, it’s the words.

And it’s funny because in traditional business, let’s say you are starting a vacuum company, going door-to-door selling vacuums, right? If you come to the door and you knock on the door, and you’re like, hey, I got a vacuum, it’s 800 bucks. Nobody’s gonna give you money for that, right? Yet for some reason, in our funnels, that’s what we do. We have a picture of the thing, and we have the price, and an order button, and that is not how things are sold, right? If you want to make a lot of money selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door, you hire a really good salesperson to go in and sell the product, right? And good salespeople can make a lot of money.

And so, inside of our funnels, right, we have this value ladder we’re taking people through. We have the value at each step. We have the offer at each step, but the last piece is we have to sell those things. We have to actually sell them. Just because you have a picture of a vacuum cleaner with an order button, nobody’s gonna buy it, unless you actually sell that thing. And that’s when the disconnects for some reason, people know offline, but they forget when they come online.

A couple things I recommend, number one is if you haven’t read the book Expert Secrets, the reason why I wrote this book was because a lot of people, after they read the DotCom Secrets book, they understood, like, funnel structure. Like, okay, here’s page one and page two, and here’s the right order and those kind of things. And I watched as the Click Funnels community started building amazing funnels, but so many people would drive traffic into those funnels, and they never made any money. And they come back to me like, Russell, why is this not working?

You said funnels are the greatest things in the world. And I look at their pages, and literally it’s like, glanny pages, the picture of an e-Cover with an opt-in box I’m like, what’s that? They’re like, when they give me the email, they get that. I’m like, you, like, I wouldn’t know that. Like, how’d they do? Or they have, again, they’d have their product, with a picture of their product and a $300 order button. It’s like, you need to sell the products.

And so, the reason why I wrote this book was to help people understand how do you sell things, how do you position your offer, how do you make an irresistible offer, like, what are the words and the phrases, and how do you tell the stories in a way to sell your product? And so, I recommend getting this book, if nothing else, to understand, like, how to put all the words on the pages the right way. Okay? Inside this Expert Secrets book, some people think this is only, it’s only for, if you wanna be selling information products, but the concepts in here are true for whatever it is your selling.

Understanding how to tell a story in a way that sells your product or your service. The best salespeople, online and offline, are people that are really good at telling stories. And this book walks you through how we tell stories, the story structure, all those kind of things. So if you read this, it’ll help you understand how to actually present your product in the right way without having to learn all the techy, copywriting stuff that’s, honesty, it’s really hard, it’s kind of confusing, and to be completely honest, it’s kind of boring.

He went through the Expert Secrets book and took all the sales scripts and storytelling scripts inside of here, and we created a separate company and created a software program called Funnel Scripts.

What Funnel Scripts is is a really cool tool, where you’re like, hey, I need a headline for my page. You may not know what to do or like what to put in, so you answer four or five questions, you click a button, and it’s going to pop out, like, 150 of the best headlines in the world, wrapped around your product, and your service. If you’re like, I need a video, but I don’t know what to do, you fill a couple of pieces, you click a button, and boom, it gives you an entire video script.

It does all of the scripts and the copywriting for all your pages are done in there. And, it has helped so many people save so much time and have so much success. It is an external product here, you don’t have to have it to be successful, but I recommend looking through it and getting a copy ’cause it’ll make your job so much easier. I’ve seen people, who in the past, would spend four or five weeks trying to write all the copy in their funnels. Get that process done in like an hour, hour and a half sometimes.

And it’s very simple, and it’s very easy. So that is a shortcut that’ll dramatically speed up your success. But the copy is probably the most important part of the funnels. And you’re selling everywhere, you start at the ad, right? Someone sees the ad, they’re like, “What’s the copy on that, what are the words, “what are things that get people to click on the ad?” Then they come to the first page of the funnel. What are the words that get them to want this offer, so you can provide value to ’em? Then they opt-in or whatever, they go to the next page, it’s like, hey, what are the words that make them want this offer, so they get value, so they want the next thing from you, and that’s the last piece.

So, it’s so vitally important, I want you guys to understand, copywriting is the key to make these funnels tick. It sort of lights them on fire, it gets people to take action when they come into your process. And, you know, we have a philosophy, a motto, whatever you want to call it, here inside of ClickFunnels™, we talk about it with our customers all of the time, you probably here me talk about it, but it’s the concept of you’re just one funnel away, right? And, the key to making that funnel hit is this, it’s all the pieces we just went through.

This post is all about the hook the story and the offer. In this post we are going to discuss why it’s important to have a hook to get people’s attention. Then we are going to discuss how to create an interesting story that allows you to resonate with your potential customers. After that we will discuss how to create an offer for your product or service.

The first part of this blog post talks about the hook. When you are creating a funnel, you often want to look at successful funnels and model then. This process is known as Funnel hacking or offer hacking. When you are funnel hacking you need to look at the hook. This is the content that grabs your attention. Think about what is the hook on the landing page that grabs your attention. For example, if you think about Drew Manning, he created a hook for himself in his Funnel called “fit to Fat to fit”. The idea that he came up with was that he wanted to appeal two people who find it difficult to get fit. In order to get the attention of these people he needed to create a hook that might resonate with them. Because he was already very fit, his story was not resonating with people that were not fit. So he decided that he was going to become unfit or fat and then get fit again afterwards. Because this was such an interesting hook, Drew got lots of free publicity.

Importance of your story – Hook Story Offer

A lot of the time the hook goes hand-in-hand with the story. In the previous example you can probably see how Drew’s hook was tied to his story. This story that he used to get people’s attention was unique to him and described a challenging process that anyone could easily understand. Sometimes if the hook and story are really memorable and unique it can bring so much traffic to the funnel that you don’t need to worry so much about the offer. The excitement and interest that your story and your hook create are enough to get your potential customers to want to buy into your product or service. One of the great things about stories is that people like to share stories. If you have an interesting story built into your funnel people will tell their friends about it. This will give you free publicity and viral value.

Unique & Memorable – Hook Story Offer

When you are trying to create your hook and your story, you need to try to come up with something interesting and unique and memorable. You can think about it this way. What kind of story are people likely to tell their friends about you or about your funnel? I have a course teaching people how to make a membership website. An example of a hook and story that I use to attract potential clients is the following. When we first launched our membership site and funnel for our cycling training course, we found it very difficult to convert traffic into customers. One day, we decided to change our headline to something a bit controversial. The new headline was “train less get faster”. Simply by changing this headline in our squeeze page and our ads, our conversions suddenly went through the roof. We went from selling $100 a week to selling $10,000 per week. You can probably tell this is a slightly interesting story. It’s not a very good example of an interesting Hook. However, it’s a true story and its unique to me and somewhat memorable.

When you are thinking about a funnel, the basic structure includes a hook, a story, and an offer. The more compelling and interesting your hook and story is, the more likely people are to see your offer. Your offer is also very important. Usually when trying to create an offer you need to increase the perceived value of what you have to sell. In the next section I’m going to outline a simple way to create a good offer that appeals to your potential customers and also creates a higher perceived value for your product or service.

The Offer – Hook Story Offer

Try this method to create a powerful offer. Take a sheet of paper and write for headings at the top. These headings are written word, spoken word, physical stuff and miscellaneous. The first heading is written word and this refers to any written publications that you can include in your offer. It might be a PDF download or it might be access to a private blog post. You need to think about valuable written content that will appeal to your customers. You can write down underneath that heading as many examples as you can of potentially valuable written resources. The second heading is spoken word and this includes audio and video resources. You can provide access to video training or to your podcast or audio recordings. A lot of people these days consume content online in the form of video or audio. They can often consume this content while they are doing other things or while they’re taking notes and that is why this type of content is so popular. You need to make a list of potential audio or video resources that you can include as bonuses when people buy your product or service. The third heading is physical stuff And this includes anything physical or tangible that you can physically deliver to your customer as part of your sale. This could be a T-shirt or it could be a book or it could be any physical good that people will be happy to get for free as part of your offer. Of course with physical products there is an associated cost but sometimes the benefits of giving away something physical outweigh the costs. You can make a list of all the physical things you can sell with your offer. Finally the last heading is miscellaneous and this includes anything else that is not covered in the other headings. Under miscellaneous you can potentially include software access or share funnels or coaching or Facebook group membership. Make a list of different miscellaneous things you can include in your offer that will appeal to your potential customers full stop In this post we have outlined how to create your hook your story and your offer.
