So I learned this whole process from being a stage seller. Getting on stage, traveling around the country, and doing that. And then after like three years of it, I was actually in the Boise Airport, it was like one o’clock in the morning, I was flying out somewhere and I’m sitting there in the airport, all by myself, and I was sitting there on my phone depressed. And I was like, “This sucks really bad.” I mean my wife, I just had twins at the time, like my wife, my kids are at home, I’m flying out again to go someplace with a bunch of people I don’t wanna hang out with, to go do a thing, which is fun, and then go back to the hotel room and sit there for another, you know, 18 hours before I get to fly back home.

I was like, I don’t, like I don’t want this for my life anymore. So, I texted my wife at one in the morning. I said, “I’m quitting speaking. “This is my last time.” And she wrote back, “Yeah right. “Love you, see you in a couple days.” (laughing) And so then my mind, the whole rest of that trip, was like, how do I stop speaking and traveling? I don’t wanna keep doing that. So then I start transitioning to like well how can I do this more and more online. And so, the time, teleseminars is a big thing, so they’re gonna do teleseminars, and then webinars came, and it got better and better at doing it on webinars.

But, for me, like that was only way it kind of worked was just webinars, right? And the pitch and everything went through yesterday was something that’s been evolving for the last 10 years for me, and it’s to the point where now it’s, like there’s always little things were changing, but it pretty much works. That’s why we call it The Perfect Webinar. Like, it’s perfect. In fact I’ve had probably four or five of you guys who were like, “I did The Perfect Webinar, it didn’t work.” I’m like, “Oh, why not?” And then they show me, like, “Well, I changed this and I tweaked this.”

And I’m like, “Are you telling me, I give you something “called ‘The Perfect Webinar’, it’s perfect, “and then you changed it.” Like, duh. Anyway, so it’s just perfect. It works in every market that we’ve ever tried it in. But recently over the last probably year and a half to two years or so, the first time it happened out of kind of a fluke. One of my friends, Mike Phil Sims as you guys know him, he was launching a new product, and he wanted us to promote it and I wasn’t going to, but he’s like, when I first got started, he’s like my first friend, we got started at the same time and for the last 12 years, he’s been my closest friend in this whole business, and so, he’s like, “I really need your help man.

“We’re trying to do this thing.” He said, “We’re doing a Philly contest “and the winner gets a BMW,” and this whole thing, right. And I’m like, “Mike I don’t wanna promote, I don’t have time, we’re doing all this other stuff.” And anyway, so kind of left it at that. And then, he did the launch and people were coming and there’s leaderboards and everyone’s fighting and all this stuff’s happening. And he’s like, “Man, you gotta help, you gotta help.” And I’m like, “Everyone else has already promoted. “It’s kind of too late.” And then, I think it was like three or four days left in the launch before it ended, and he’s like, “Dude, what’s it gonna take? “Like, is there something?”

And finally, I’m like, “All right, I’ll do that, “but there’s only one condition.” I was like, “I don’t really want a BMW,” but BMW costs, I think about $50,000, the one he had, I’m like, “I do want a cryosauna, which is $50,000. “If I win, will you buy me a cryosauna instead of a BMW?” He’s like, “Dude, you are so weird.” And I’m like, (laughing) He’ like, “What is it?” I’m like showing him pictures. He’s like, “So, what do you do?” I’m like, “You get in it and you freeze yourself “for like three minutes. “It’s really cool.” Anyway, he’s like, “Whatever. “If you win, I’ll give you that, fine.” I’m like, “Cool.” So then I was like, well I gotta promote this, but everyone and their dog’s been promoting this thing for the last three or four weeks.

Like, everyone I know’s already bought. Like, how am I gonna come and compete in this short period of time? I was like, “Oh, I’m gonna do a webinar.” So I had this thought, I’m write a webinar, but then I got to the office and the day went on, there’s so much stuff happening and it takes, for me, a couple of days to really do a good webinar. And finally I was like, “I don’t have time to do it.” And he kept messaging me, “You gotta help me.” Finally got down to 48 hours left. He’s like, “Come on man, help me.” Finally, I was like, (grunting).

And then I had this like pop in my head. I was like, “What if instead of doing all these slides, what if I just opened up Facebook Live and just did a webinar off the top of my head and just see what happens.” I was like, that’s the only shot I had left. So, I’m like, “Okay.” So I sat down, in front of a whiteboard, here’s a picture of it, and I was like, “Okay, what’s my one thing?” And so he was selling automated webinar software. So this is not perfect, this is with like three minutes of prep time, so it’s pretty dang good. So I’m like what’s the one thing I gotta get ’em to believe? I gotta get ’em to believe that webinars are the future. So, how to make that sexy? How to make at least eight figures a year with this new webinar model? So I’m like, “Okay.” So I wrote that on the whiteboard. “All right, that’s my one thing.”

Okay, what are my three secrets?” “Okay, what’s their fear about that?” And I wrote down secret number one and I wrote down that. “Okay, what’s their internal fears and secret number two.” I wrote that down and wrote that down. And I was like, “Okay, if they buy from me versus everyone else, what should I give ’em?” I’m like, “Okay, here’s my offer.” I wrote down this and wrote down all the things there and then I took a little piece of white paper and I covered up each of those little things. Milton’s like cutting paper and taping them in the back and we’re like taping ’em up.

And then, within like five, 10 minutes, we’re like, “Okay, we got the webinar.” And I was like, I can’t remember if it was Bret, whoever had it, we had one phone on Facebook live and one was on Periscope, and they stood there and they went click and they started it. And I was like, “Hey everybody, welcome “to this Facebook live!” And I just did the whole thing. I’m like, “I’m gonna talk about nanananana.” And I talked about that. And I’m like, “Secret number one,” and I talked about it. “Secret number two,” and I talked about it. “Secret number three, and if you sign up right now “you’re gonna get,” and I pulled off the thing, “You’re gonna get this and you’re gonna get this.” And I did the whole stack and whole everything. I think it ended up being 26 minutes and 32 seconds was my entire time.

And it ended and I was like, “Whoo.” I’m like, “Dang.” I was like, “Did anybody buy yet?” And then they’re all, “I don’t know, let’s log in.” So log in to Philly account and sales are like, “Doon, doon, doon, doon, doon, doon.” And so then John jumps on and he’s like, “Man, sales are coming like crazy.” So he started boosting it. And over the next 48 hours they had over 150, 160 thousand people watch this. We did over $250,000 in commissions, and I won a cryosauna. Which was awesome. (clapping) Yeah!

We’re live are we live actually is in face yeah yeah relax dude yeah it’s just us sending up to go live but it says on the thing we’re live please say it’s working all right I think we’re live what’s up Jim what’s up hey you make yourself into something today what just happened why are we celebrating something amazing well I mean normally I don’t need a reason to celebrate with a bottle of bubbly and a blow-up unicorn but we did have something exciting happen yesterday at 4:12 a.m. in the morning.

No dirty minded people it wasn’t that it was awakened 4:12 I got a message on boxer at 4:12 a.m. which is kind of creepy which is 2 a.m. your time so you were just going to bed so we yesterday Russell and I hit the 10 million dollar mark for funnel scripts what dude you’re not going to open that near your computer are you a lot of drinks I don’t know how this works oh my fake water champagne do not hold that near the computer there’s not a cork on this so does the same impact to try it busy a can of pop whatever shake it up rogue and open these things together close there’s only about a hundred grand worth of electronic equipment in that office go ahead all right ok nervous

So how many guards camp ok so we’re also pretty focused past 10 million dollars this weekend sales yay all right I’m ready exploded hey I don’t like fizzy water if I’m gonna drink anyway alright this is hell this is like mine oh my god is the worst yeah congratulations everybody congratulations and thank you to everybody it was a team effort absolutely a team effort every supportive photo scripture last few years it’s good now I want to talk about something that I’m mocking didn’t know but yes may notice how clean shaven and beautiful gym looks today so when did this whole bet sir I can’t write what always like 14 months ago on a funnel Friday jig hey dude.

I know you’re trying to get the 10 million dollar award and I was like yeah he said well hey you gonna not shaving that beard till you get there huh and I was like yeah yeah that’s great yeah we can do it and in the spirit of funnel Friday’s yeah and then and then I’m like I’m gonna have to grow a cat on my face which he did yeah I’ll see ya I looked over to the Facebook live yesterday are you cutting it yep all right.

Here it is you guys to see what happened yesterday after after we passed the 10 million dollar more about to witness the trimming of the 10 million dollar beer so here’s the story about a year ago Russell Brunson said to me hey man you’re gonna not cut that beard until you hit the 10 million dollar mark with funnel scripts and in the moment he asked me this on funnel foam Fridays I was like yeah man I sure will do it and then after I said it I was like dang I’m not going to be able to shave this Muskrat first a while.

So I’ve been busting butt to get it over the 10 million dollar mark we got it over the 10 million dollar mark so are you going to trim this thing because I’m tired of having this big hobo beard on my face and so here we go [Music] [Music] I could get a second job shearing sheep my wife’s laughing at me to turn it you know you missed the spot huh oh man so glad we captured this before ever there you go there you go so there you go so I was listening there’s a couple lessons that help everybody learn from this experiment so number one is lucky wise.

Then let themselves off the hook Jim was like all right I’m gonna set something that’s gonna annoy me every single baby itchy and long curly until I hit the goal and then he went out there it’s like I got it this cool so that’s number one like if you guys are all comfortable cuz you’re hitting your goals like make something uncomfortable like to finish up in pain so you have to go and do it number two and he’s noticed we didn’t like launch fun little strips and

Just like sit back last four years waiting for people to buy it it has been an intense labor of love Jim’s consistently been increase in the value adding more scripts adding more things doing more things do more training always increasing the value so the price of final script seems cheaper and cheaper and cheaper cheaper and then we consistently talk about it right how many final Friday’s is this episode like would we outright a lot dear like we can consistently talking about it week in and week out.

Week in and week out I think a lot of people they put the thing up with oh I’m gonna be rich and then I just sit in there wait and then it never happens so they’re like you like learn can I add one more thing to the lesson yes you you got to have a vision for what you’re doing and that vision is gonna help to sustain you when other people either don’t have the vision or other people can’t catch the vision or you’re the only one that believes that it’s going to work.

I’m not saying that’s what the situation was but you got to have a vision and the stronger the vision the bigger the vision the the more you can do and without a vision and there’s somewhere in the Bible it says without a vision the people perish and there you go so so thank you Russell and team because it it would not have happened without you I’m grateful V man this has been your vision from day one we first nested like this is gonna be huge.

Then you’re the one that put in the effort the work you need to do is so beautiful P may have an amazing partner and it’s just fun to celebrate with yet we’ve got some bubbly water whoo there you go and my fake so on top of the top of celebrate and say with you guys we also wanted to have some fun because today we are we are in the process admission a recording this all right there we go we’re gonna do a fun photo Friday stay and we’ve got a new script we’re demoing I believe got some other cool stuff.

I’m pumped for so you want to kind of talk about what the plan is for today sure so one of the things that we’ve been talking about and it’s really resonating with people are bridge pages and we did a training over in the Avengers group where if you’re not in the Avengers group you should be in the Avengers group because there’s some amazing stuff going on over there and if you youtube search click levels avengers it should pop up their affiliate stranger absolutely and so talking about bridge pages there are all kinds of different ways you can use bridge pages and we were showing how to use funnel scripts to create bridge pages.

One of the things we told people was you can do a demo and I’ve always kind of taken things for granted about doing a demo because I’ve done thousands of demos over the years and then something interesting happened this is like gonna be a combination epiphany Bridge story so if anything happened was in the in the help desk we got a question somebody had joined funnel scripts and had bought Russell’s network marketing secrets book and they asked me will she do by the way everybody she had this book.

I’ll tell you why so they were asking you know which funnel scripts should they use for which the funnels that Russell talks about in there and I was able to answer it pretty quickly but then I said Russell’s got a network marketing secrets book I haven’t read this book can I get a copy of the book sure Jim you can have a copy of the book they sent me copy of the book and on page 39 I read something that changed my life forever it’s actually on page 40 but it starts on page 39 and it’s Russell talking about the demo doing a demonstration in this case of whatever product the network marketing companies sell.

I was like yeah that makes sense oh my god what’s this one thing in here that he teaches the formula and this one thing right here eliminate the alternatives I might my forehead was literally getting flat and I think my beard got three inches longer cuz I was pulling on going oh my gosh oh my god oh my god this is it this was the missing thing and so I tried it out with with a couple different demos and you know I’ve always gotten really good results but then when I did this was like boom through the roof people were responding I would you know the the it was like doubling the response I was getting.

I said there’s something here and I need to do this consistently and the best way to do this is to create a script so that’s what we did we created a script we unveiled it this week on the funnel scripts training for everybody and I sensed on Tuesday when we unveiled it I have overhauled the script again to make it even cooler and so what I thought we’d do is Russell real quick explained everybody what a bridge pages and what the purpose is of a bridge page why you would use it.

Then we’ll explain why this is so important and so helpful because these are one of the coolest tools and most misunderstood tools in the internet world so there are times and places when you want to sell something over here and maybe you don’t own this website so you aren’t affiliate for this thing or it’s a network marketing opportunities to the company corporate website or something in like you have no control over this this page and so the only thing you have controlling is the pretty frame that somebody enters into this page width to go back back here is something that we call a bridge page a bridge page and so bridge makes you drive traffic because like a lot of times if you drive traffic directly to this page the hits and

This bounces off because the patient convert well there’s a thousand fillies offering the same page or there can be a million different different reasons why just driving traffic directly here doesn’t work something hammer has never wanting to let you do that directly if your affiliate like and so the bridge page is basically it’s it’s the thing in between between your traffic and the thing you’re trying to sell so for example this and walking up on the street and

I see somebody I could just let’s say Sam you know that put network marking see curses from network marking book right so let’s say I’m a network marketing company I am selling this fancy-pants bubbly water right I can walk up to like somebody on the street like here’s the order for him to buy the water and right wait what is that it’s the order for my son you want bubbly water is really good like the lighter than buying is not very good right that’s the equivalent of sending somebody directly bridge pays me kind of like

Hey I got to tell you story this is why as far as May this is what I like about it slice off like you tell your own story you’re doing a product demo he’s got citation I’ll just see how good and this is amazing you do your product demo is that you like the stuff cool go over here to go buy it and then you push somebody from there what to do the thing over here so bridge page traditionally is me or whoever doing some kind of demo we call it in the network marketing secrets book I call the Billy Mays demo because he has never Billy Mays

He was like the OxiClean dude he was probably the greatest pitchman of all time passed away a couple years ago and I keep down after he died I write him and his pictures I watched like literally every infomercial I can find of his and like Billy Mays scripts based on like here’s all the things Billy didn’t every single it was infomercial mini it is all they’re always like a little micro infomercial Ike that the 30 seconds two-minute infomercials and so that’s what the script space sounds like demoing the product bridge the gap between where that and then the thing you’re actually going to sell that makes sense yeah that’s awesome as far as the structure for a bridge page typically though with

the the bridge page is as simple as a headline a video and a link that’s it that and the more you add actually the the less it will convert and the cool thing with bridge pages is you can use them for affiliate offers you can use them for your own offers when you’re literally just bridging page with people from from one mindset over to where you ultimately want to make make them go it’s the thing that pre frames them and explains what’s going on so they understand what’s happening so one of the most effective things you can do for a bridge page is a demonstration a demonstration of a product the demonstration of a physical product of a piece of software some of the most profitable things I have ever done in my life online have been simple bridge page demonstrations of other people’s software hey guys Jim Owens here found this really cool tool for you that’s going to help you do X Y & Z let me show you how it works hey you just do this this this and this and it’s gonna it does this all you gotta do is just exactly

I’m just gonna delete everything else okay I make this bug bigger cuz I like big buttons big like big buttons and I will not lie we are wrapping when a button walks in with a big button in your with big text in your face you get clicked okay the longest part of this template is deleting all the other stuff boom all right cool so now when I what I need you to do is to stop sharing your screen so I can share my screen back to you okay cool so what I’m going to show you guys here real quick is the new I call it the demo script and this follows the the format that Russell teaches that he got from the Billy Mays thing and it basically demo the product you show them how it’s faster.

easier you eliminate the alternatives intro the price get urgency and scarcity do the risk reversal all the time and they’re using your call to action so what I did was I took me like 10 minutes to type this up and so what’s that and and we have a couple of cool examples in here we have one for funnel scripts which is software we have one that we did on Tuesday and the live training for a camera bag really was cool so this one that I want to show you could do it with just a book so what’s the name of the product service you’re demonstrating network marketing secrets

what is it what’s the biggest benefit the biggest pain this eliminates what’s the big payoff what’s the alternative most people think of when they try to do this then what are all the things that you want to show about the product so step by step what do you want to show in this case I listed off each page where it had something cool and then what’s all the stuff they don’t need to do anymore so this is eliminating the alternatives then what’s the price what’s an alternative way to express the price how fast can they see results why should they grab it now what’s your risk reversal and what’s call to action so now it actually puts it all the pieces together with your hook intro faster and easier demo eliminate the alternatives intro price urgency scarcity risk reversal and

I downloaded the script as a word document and I got all high tech and printed it off okay and then I printed it off and I literally as you’re gonna see here in a minute okay rather me I held my phone I held my phone in my right hand quite clumsily as though I had some sort of a palsy and then I held the I held this printed off in my other hand and I read it as you will see I tried to do it with the least amount of panache as possible and so I actually recorded it.

I have two kids and after I had my first son I gained 70 pounds when I was pregnant with him I saw you the 10-pound baby my stock was like yeah here and I had him and I still had 50 extra pounds on me but it was hard. down at the event cuz some crazy stuff happened I’m also trying get permission from Gary Vee let me share some of his presentation with you guys here so that’s the game plan if I’m able do that you’ll see it soon and you’ll see my recap as soon as well but this week I’ve got my inner circle here so I’m in there locked away so what I didn’t want to do is I got the video clip from my presentation of the event we’re talking about how go how to go from zero to 100 million dollars in sales how I did that by using sales funnels and growth hacking and it was a shorter presentation but I think it was really really cool I’m sure I talked really fast I was also really tired I had only slept one hour the night before so it doesn’t make any sense that’s kind of the context of why but hopefully they give you guys some ideas about how to scale company you know you hear me talk about the dot-com secrets book a lot like whoever can spend the most money to acquire customer wins and sometimes we hear that is kind of depressing it won’t have a lot of money so I’m not gonna win and that’s how I felt especially when we launched click funnels and we’re competing against two companies one they had like 40 million dollars in funding one that over 100 million but how do you do that and this presentation shows you how we did it so after we do the little marketing secret intro here I’m going to pick that is the question in this podcast we’ll give you the answers my name is Russell Brunson and welcome to marketing secrets I put together this presentation cuz likes the biggest question I get especially from from people that are building their own companies like how in the world have you grown ClickFunnels™ so fast without having any money any capital any outside funding at all and so I put again this presentation this morning excited one hour sleep last night and they got up and I said where’s presentation so but kind of walk you through what we did and some of the mindset shifts that I think they’re different that hopefully will help you guys as you’re growing and scaling everything you guys are doing so 10 of my presentation is how we use growth hacking and sales funnels to go from 0 to 100 million dollars in less than three years or a week away without taking out any outside funding so kind of the first thing I want to go over really quickly just for those in the room who didn’t know what I was talking about earlier I’m gonna go over what funnel is really quick so what is the funnel so if you look at in the next to me step back so the reason why I want to talk about it is it’s been interesting like I’ve been doing this internet marketing game for 15 years now so my 15th year in the business selling all sorts of stuff and it’s interesting because recently has been a whole bunch of books coming out on my growth hacking and here’s all these cool new ways to growth hack and it’s funny because we get the growth hacking books and reading it’s like that’s all the internet marketing stuff we’ve been doing for like the last decade and now it’s like real businesses are catching on they’re figuring out these things are really really cool so that’s kind of why that’s kind of my thought manis presentation show me that like all these funnels things is this is the growth hacking this is the moment this is where things are going that we keep talking about so what’s the funnel so to explain a funnel I think the easiest way to begin with is to show you what a funnel is not so this is like a traditional style website right this is what click funnels is kind of going against all the time and most of them traditional website they got all sorts of ads to paying for Facebook YouTube Google all these things and they’re driving into these wet into these his website since literally like slamming a whole bunch of people in their brick wall okay and I know this is how I got started I was trying this thing it did not work I always say that a traditional websites kind of like having a really bad salesperson who’s shy and all they do is they hand out brochures and then pray the person comes back like that’s the traditional website what a funnel is is basically having the best sales person on planet earth come and meet the person in the front door find out their name and walk them through the process find what they want how they want it and give them exactly what they want so that’s kind of the sales funnel is now my whole philosophy in business kind of like I told you guys in the last presentation like when we started click funnels three years ago we had two major competitors that we were looking at number one had just gotten 43 million dollars in funding number two just had over a hundred million dollars in funding now I’m coming in with me and Todd and we’re bankrolling it with our big old credit cards and we’re like okay we’re going against these giants that have the hundreds of millions of dollars how are we gonna win and one of my first mentors Dan Kennedy he’s just say this all the time he said whoever can spend the most money to acquire customer wins and some looking at these companies have 100 millions of dollars in funding I’m like I’m screwed I’m not gonna be able to win these guys can help spend me every single day and I start looking this more and more and I didn’t get it at first I took me a couple years before I understood this concept of whoever could spend the most money to acquire customer wins and like I told you before I I went to college here and Boise at Boise State and I wrestled here and I used to carry my buddies on my back up and down these uh up and down the football stadium every single day before practice like this is my hometown so here in boys that one thing were famous for those who are not from Idaho is we’re famous for potatoes and the very first product I ever put together was the DVD teaching people how to make potato gun and he probably heard me tell a story before but it was a DVD as how to make potato guns I set it up online I’ve learned about internet marketing it was really simple a one-page website I had Google Ads that’s all that we did back in the day so I went to Google I started buying ads I was spending about ten dollars a day in Google ads and I was selling a $37 DVD on how to make potato guns so I’d spend $10 a day on ads and I usually average about one cell per day so Russell was the college kid is making a whopping twenty seven dollars per day profit I was putting into my pocket which was pretty awesome and that was kind of my beginning and then what happened is a little while into this whole game Google shifted how everything worked and I big big trouble and all of a sudden literally overnight my my website was the same but I went from $10 then asked a $50 day overnight and so I said a $50 they said it’s the exact same web site but I was only making one sell the same thing it’s now it’s losing $13 a day and my beautiful wife after about three or four days that said you have to stop this is not a good business this is really really bad and so we stopped and eventually had to cut up our credit cards and I thought I missed the bubble am i doing it we missed it and those are actually real pictures of us cutting up our credit card back in our home first home about that time I had a friend who is also in the business and he came back he said he said Russell I I think I figured this out he said my little web site he had the same problem Google raised the prices algorithms changed and like and all of a bunch of my friends all got out of business one of my friends came back to say I figured it out he’s like I started adding in these things he called him OTO which stands for one time offer but basically an upsell he sent starting upsells to my products and I start making more money from every customer and now I’m able to afford my ads again I turn my back on I was like that’s cool like but I don’t know how like how can I do that I don’t know how to do that and I was like I have a potato going DVD like what should I do it he’s like well people who buy potato can DVDs what else they need how else can you serve them and I was like well we could buy them like the next piece of that to buy a potato gun kits like to buy pipes and the barbecue tonight all these other pieces right and so he’s like we should sell a kit I’m like I don’t want to make kits that would be really not cool and he’s like well see if you find smoke so I end up finding a guy in northern Idaho actually was drop shipping potato gun kits did a partnership with him and I made my very first funnel this is my funnel transition so people who buy my DVD and then upsell a $200 potato gun kit and we send it out in the mail now it was cool I turned the face or the Google Ads back on back in the day and what happened was I still was to paint about $50 a day but then one out of three people would start buying that the potato gun kit so do the math on that one out of three people means I was averaging about sixty-five dollars in additional cells from every DVD I got that I sold which meant I was spending about $50 a day in ads and now I was making 102 dollars in ads and all of a sudden it worked again like that was magic literally I own that when I made that ship I went from losing money Dave now I wasn’t making fifty two dollars a day profit and I was like this is it this is the biggest thing the world now for me obviously potato guns is very small market I didn’t stay there long but the concept of that like rank through my head I think this is how it works and my morale that I kind of learned from this whole experience was that we sites soon the funnels making me make me money websites make me broke and so my obsession for the last decade in my life has been this kale I you guys have been in my events lost a key teaching this constantly showing kids like this is the key and so when I started like like doing this and started realizing it that that message I heard from my mentor could come back my head saying whoever can spend the most money to acquire customer wins that was the key whoever did spend the most money to acquire customer wins and so as we came into this game of ClickFunnels™ and looking these people with hundreds of millions of dollars in venture capital behind them on my calendar world we compete with that I was like I can’t do it head I head for hey they can all outspend me but if I can build a funnel that’s right I can change everything if you look at the reason why we have grown as fast as we had as mechanics cuz we can literally out spend everyone okay we get man probably three or four times a week different people trying to put money into ClickFunnels™ and most of me just tell them no but a couple of you entertained just cuz it’s interesting I’m curious like what they think we’re worth it’s really fun and so weird we’re at lunch to stay with this group and and the we actually turned those ads off he’s a cute Rios ads off I’m like yeah like I could have painted this out of my own pocket like I don’t want to lose 120 bucks every customer he’s like well how he is growing so fast I said well the reason why is because we have funnels and explained to him some of our friend and funnels like my book funnels some other funnels I said look for every one of the every single person that comes in with my funnels that they buy one of my books we spend on average about 10 to 12 dollars on her facebook ads or other ad platforms to sell a book but then through that funnel we have about $32 I said what happens is that we spend $12 we get something to buy one of our books we make net $20 with cash to put in our pocket and then we in tradition to click funnels so every single customer before we tell about Clinton’s actually pay us money and we put it on money in our pocket he’s like that isn’t make any sense and I explained it again instead of make sense maybe three or four times then he stopped he said if what you’re saying is true so that’ll change business forever I think that’s that’s my whole message like that’s what we do that’s what funnels are all about ok so I’m walking is really quick through this and then we’re gonna have Gary come up here in a minute but one of the key concepts you guys need to understand this is constant we call a break-even funnel those my inner circle members are here we spend a lot of time on this but the breaking funnel is this funnel where you break even so you can literally get customers for free when you have that you can grow your company as quick as big as fast as you want okay we spend a lot of time in that so this will go to breaking the funnel where I commit a dollar in advertising in and get at least $1 back out and if I’m good at and get two or three dollars back out now I’ve got a customer I got some cash now we can put them into what we into the other things we have a couple examples of some of our breakeven funnels like grab this from some slides this morning show you example so this is my Dom secrets book this is a couple months ago stats we got about 5,400 leads we sold 2395 books our average cart value during that time was $30 81 cents so we spent $45,000 and ads we made 52 thousand dollars in sales so our profit was seven thousand seven hundred sixty three dollars now most people we looked at a company that our size you like that’s a waste like you just wasted a lot of you made seven grand that’s not that big of a deal right but that was to get customers we got 5,400 people that then the next week we would say hey by the way this is this really cool thing called click funnels and I got paid $7,000 to get those 5,400 people in my list okay that was one of our front end products this is a split testing book same kind thing we have 2,000 leads came last month 1,300 books sold average car values $12 ads for this 4,000 sells 18,000 so we made 13,000 dollars but we got 2,000 people that now we can interstate click funnels so I got paid to get all these customers one more example is perfect webinar same kind of thing leads sales I’ll go through this quickly the same thing made four thousand dollars got 600 customers we introduced into click funnels okay now if you walk through this those three funnels alone and we have a we have about a dozen or so front-end funnels we use in different different platforms and things last month from this basically our front of revenues ninety six thousand dollars our ad costs eighty one thousand so we netted a whopping fourteen thousand dollars most feeling man Russell with a company with 120 employees like here gonna go broke fast right but what’s amazing about that is that that brought in literally like 30 or 40,000 new people into our world who then we took them through the rest of our sequence they’re introduced to us and now we can go and we can build a relationship with them we can talk to them we can serve them we can help them understand what we do what we believe and it introduced them into our other products and our services and for us obviously that is ClickFunnels™ and so if you look at that what that means for us is if we literally get almost a thousand new trials for free every single day like clockwork that comes back to talk to pay forward that’s how we’re able to grow so fast as we can literally we can outspend never been in our market there’s nobody else that we can do that and it was cool that for you guys whatever business you’re in like that’s the key okay remember whoever hi here we go question number one here Arthur my name’s Steve Friday thanks for taking the question the question is about customers and LTV I’ve got a relatively new business so I don’t have enough data to accurately calculate my lifetime value of my customers and so I’m having a hard time knowing pain customer what my customer for acquisition is how would you go about doing calculating how much to pay for customer pay traffic right now thank you okay all right first off I am also jealous that beard I cannot grow beard otherwise I would insist I’m Steve Kalan we’re live on TV you guys all the kids got all the kids here so all right so nor anyone answers question ok so Steve that’s a great question so as question was how do you calculate lifetime value if your company’s doing your noble at time value select n values one of those like dream metrics people want to know and they always want to talk about I am NOT a big fan of vy x value of customer obviously i want to make that number bigger but I don’t want to base my advertising decisions on lifetime value because that might be six months or a year from now five years my 10 years from now and I make my decisions based on that it’s hard to be profitable lifetime value is a good metric if you are working with venture capitalists who want to give you how much money and hold onto debt and hopefully a payoff and like you know five years from now on but that’s not we’re about down right we’re about making money today so what I do I’m not looking for lifetime value I initially want to be my paid ads I’m looking for what’s my a CV my average cart value so how much money do I make on average every single person who buys one of my friend end products okay so for example someone buys the expert secrets book I know to my cost to acquire customer right now about what if I was 11 or $12 to get them to buy the book but then in the funnel in that point of sale the breakeven funnel as more in breaking as profitable but we’re making about thirty two dollars for every single book we sell so that’s the metric I’m looking at can I know I can spend up to thirty two dollars and still breakeven in the car so a CV average cart value that’s the metric and you focus on and think of out while you are doing on while you are building your company advertising around that I want to break even immediately a point of self run advertising if not means my funnel is not very good okay or some people like to go you know maybe seven days or 14 days or six yes thirty days sixty days before they break even that stresses me out if my phone doesn’t break even immediately I stop all adds to it and I try to get my funnel better so that is kind of my recommendation to you Steve that sound good all right no he wants out to my crop okay nor the mic oh nice let’s get down down – drop it drop the mic oh one more marketing secret if so then go get your copies of my two best-selling books book number one is called experts secrets and you get a free copy at expert seekers calm and book number two is called calm secrets and you get your free copy at dot-com secrets calm inside these two books you’ll find my top 35 secrets to leave you to become the fastest-growing non vc-backed fast startup company in the world

except everybody’s russell brunson welcome to the marketing series podcast take one so the big question is this how are entrepreneurs like us you didn’t cheat and take on venture capital we’re spending money from our own pocket probably marketing away the left half pay our products and our services and the things we believe in out of the world and yet still remain profitable that is the question and it’s podcast give you the answers my name is Russell Brunson and welcome to marketing speaker alright everybody welcome marketing secret so I’m here today inside the ClickFunnels™ kitchen its first time I’ve ever filmed in which I’m actually excited you can see quick view of the kitchen looks like oh there’s Dave hey we got our cool stuff and we actually we actually built this kitchen on because a lot of products work with some user logon kitchen scenes you always rented different kitchens and then where we build the kitchen make sure we have a good seems we actually film stuff so we do and what’s crazy is since we’ve had it we’ve never used it for filming so anyway but today I want to share you guys something kind of interesting and I want to make sure when I say this but it doesn’t come off bad because it has a good purpose but it’s import because understand so some of the kind of background behind this to set it up so that all makes kind of sense yes so we had a designer to work for a while to come on and help with user interface UI UX those type of things click funnels and really smart guy and what he liked to do is he liked to call and actually interview customers which first I was like really excited so you only call on a 40 or 50 customers and the energy and finding out what they want what they didn’t want all kind of things which I thought was kind of cool we’d never done that before and something as native actually talked to us it’s pretty cool the based on that was trying to build UI and structured based on you know customers feedback on a couple things I kind of found with it one is like and it was kind of almost a frustration because murky cadence in case this what I want to have done and he treated me kind of like as if I was the customer I can’t cool those were good ideas I’m like no like like this is what we like you need to do this because am I asking you I’m telling you this is not I’m not a survey and when I was kind of going back and forth and his his mind says like we need final customers well which I agree with then also coming back to the Henry Ford’s whole quote about like you know if I would ask my customers what they wanted they would said they wanted to faster horse I guess it also understand like customers don’t always know like the vision we’re going that’s why we’re crazy some 100 visionaries like we know where we’re trying to go right kind of mission so he no longer works with the company still an awesome guy like but but that was kind of this this frustration I had and I remember for a long time we wanted to update our onboarding and click funnels and one do a whole bunch of really cool things we haven’t been able to do and that this week is actually fun for me because we’re focusing on that another side story I was listening to a Girl Talk or TV there’s interview with the guy that that bought the warrior forum you also own freelancer comm a bunch of other companies and he’s talking about they grew to a billion dollar valuation and one interesting thing you said is that they they they buy these companies whatever and then they look at the traffic coming through they spend a lot of time often is a optimizing the processes of Splendor processes to make more money from all the traffic coming which kind of phase word right now is we have anywhere from 800,000 new people a day it’s not as quick funnel just organically they’re coming from who knows where and thank you for coming I don’t even where he came from but grateful a be here and and they’re coming in and we lose a bunch from the first month right there’s big drop-off in and that’s that it stays really steady but there’s big drop in immediately and so we’re trying to figure out that process how do we capture people keep them in there’s a lot of cool on stuff we’ve done the decrease our churn rate which is the number of metric look at it increased our retention but right now in a big we’re big overall right now like how we simplify the signup process and how do we make everything easier and how do we anyway so it’s funny as let’s see some new stuff coming in quick phones here the next within the next 60 days lots of new stuff will be coming live that’s just to simplify the process and make quick little easier to use so we’re excited for that I was listening to this guy as you talked about like that’s what he was doing was a simplification of the or they just worked on the optimization of signup flow and national companies blew up and they really focus on the traps things other things we’re always focusing on traffic and sometimes it’s like how to make sure that the funnels right so that we’re not losing you know people out of holes in the bucket so anyway so that said like there’s much boring stuff that I wanted to do I know Todd wanted to do and so we can try and get this guide to do that like we want we want a prize we want to go through t-shirts wear our new badges we want to do all that gamify the process and he’ll come back saying like well we can like I was getting find the process to help people get the end result like we need to get people to the end result and this is just like keeping them busy in the middle and it’s funny Todd kind of mentioned that this morning to me and and I walk stand back and I was like there’s this quote from Dan Kennedy I heard back in the day that actually ties this I couldn’t member exactly what it was so I end of Akhmim I’m gonna find the quote we’ll come back to you so identifying the quote and I posted it there in boxer where the quote said is um if you got you’ve got to probably mess this up now confuse activity with accomplishment okay now I’m going to be careful when I say it’s me I was going to look at that be it might be frustrated or confused whatever so I post that man the thing it said it said Dan Kennedy said you getting yet you have to get your customers to confuse activity with achievement and so Todd read that first if we list in my box and he thought I was saying like oh this designer was right like that’s just going to get people confused like focusing on activities as opposed to achievement in this in my boxer was actually the exact opposite was kind of funny as me and this UI designer both said the identical thing but for the opposite sides of the argument you saying you don’t want it you don’t want to confuse people activities like that they keep them from the achievement and I would say no you want to give them activities so that they feel achievement so someday they get to achievement so you want to you want to confuse activity with achievements that makes sense and so Kennedy said that basically like as the retention strategy people come in and we’re going to leave he said no you need to give them things to do so that so that they have activity that’s happening because that activity is what keeps them engaged like we look at our quick final stats right now and our numbers and things like that the interesting parts like people at stake are people that they have a custom domain they log in at least two nine times per per week there’s all these staffs of people that that sticker people that are going in and doing stuff consistently and so we know that’s the metric is that people logging in and using it are the key so how many to log in and we use it well just like telling them I go bit of a funnel and you’re gonna have achievement you’re in achieve long funnel doesn’t like that people will try a little bit and they’re going to because I didn’t achieve anything because it goes like this huge thing right the goal is is you got eat this whole entire cow right like that’s the goal and so if you’re giving your customer here’s the goal you I need a cow the problem is going to come in if they don’t eat a cow really quickly make hut and they’re going to leave so you have to do is you have to confuse achievement with activity I to give them activities to do to make them feel like they’re achieving something along the way right so they come in you set the table you give them their appetizer to eat that and they achieve something right breast or gamey find the process you come in you watch the video you build your hero finally send you a t-shirt right so you got it you have activity and so you felt that you know you should see the thing you want yet you felt achievement which then drives you forward to the next thing and the next thing and the next thing and so well all of us want our customers to have the achievement at the end the problem is that they sign up and then there’s the achievement there’s a huge gap in the middle they’re going to fall into and disappear and die okay because that we have to confuse activity with achievement cuz that activity makes them feel micro achievements which then will get them to the big achievement at the end so that’s the goal that’s the message for you guys as you’re creating your training programs or software your ideas your products or services whatever it is you’re creating and you’re doing why are you thinking about that you have to go and create activities that they get people to add to to fill small win small achievements that will drive them through this chasm through this gap to get to the big goal the big achievement you actually want them to have if you don’t have those things if you’re not confusing activity with the treatment initially they’re never going to get to the achievement it’s that’s kind of message for today I thought it was kind of interesting and I think it’s funny that we both have the same argument for why we wanted to do this onboarding process but he was saying it was a negative thing and I was saying it was a positive thing and I think it’s very cause I think all
