– Hey my name is Russell Brunson. I want to welcome you to my channel. I’m so excited to have you here. But today I’m gonna be talking about a five-part video series I’m doing right now. It was actually an interview I did with this man right here. Grrr, his head got really big. Tai Lopez and I was actually in California.

This was a couple of months ago. I was out in California and I actually messaged Tai and he said hey come on over to the Tai mansion, hanging out and we’ll do an interview. So I got there super late it was like 11:30 at night and I was like there’s no way we’re doing this interview.

And sure enough we showed up. He fed me and then about one o’clock in the morning. If you’ve every been to Tai’s house or seen it he broke out like 400 cameras. He had cell phones galore for Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, networks I’ve never even heard of and we did this interview and it turned out really, really cool and I wanted to share it with you.

So the very first part of this interview Tai’s asking about how we built ClickFunnels™ from zero to 100 million dollars and the first thing we talked about is how you actually build a movement. I talked about the movements that ClickFunnels™ has built. We talked about some of our success stories. Like LadyBoss and the movement they’ve created and a whole bunch of other stuff.

With that said let’s jump into part one of this interview series with me and Tai Lopez. (stormy thunder) – Russell, take me back three years ago you decide to launch this company, called ClickFunnels™. Are you now number one competitor with Shopify? – I think so, I don’t know anyone else that’s come close, so I’m pretty sure. – And you did this, you have five kids, you live in Idaho, for all of you to live in smaller markets. – It still works. – So what was the feeling to go from zero and three years later doing one hundred million bucks here. – That was never the goal. I mean the goal is like try to do whatever.

But it’s funny because about four years ago when we had the idea and we were like can we do this. Like a lot of people have tried it before. I even tried it before. Luckily I had a co-founder in Todd Dickerson who was technically able to build it. And he spent about a year building it and then it came back and it was just amazing. And so I’m like all right let’s sell this.

That’s my job to be the guy selling it and talking about it and trying to build the excitement behind it. It’s crazy cause it took off. At first it was kind of slow it took a while to figure out how to sell and how to get people excited about it. And then when it started working and then triggering success stories, people having success with it and more it started growing and growing and the last three years has been nuts. –

So, let’s go through this. Marketing, cause a lot of people are listening in are people who have an idea and they want to grow it. One of your secrets is not just selling a product but creating a movement. – [Russell] Yeah. – Tell me about that. Cause that’s really your number one. I asked you the number one thing you think is responsible for growth and those of you listening should emulate. You’ve written this book called Expert Secrets. You’ve got Robert Kiyosaki on the front cover recommending it and the Underground Playbook Defines your Message, Build A Tribe, and Change the World.

So why do people need to build a tribe? How do you do it? – [Russell] The market we’re going into there’s a lot of competitors, right? And all of them are like, there brands but there kind of nameless faces. There’s brands trying to do this thing right. And I remember about that time I went to a network marketing thing cause I had some friends and I wanted to see how these guys do their stuff. I show up in this room and there’s like four or five thousand people in this room and everyone’s going on stage and they’re crying and I was so confused. I’m like this is a software company, why are people crying. – (laughs) –

And person after person for two or three days and I’m so confused and finally I look over to one of my buddies and he said to me he said you know what they’re doing here? I was like I’ve got no idea but everyone’s crying, I’m confused. And he said they didn’t build a software company they created a movement. That’s why people are here. That’s why they’re coming. – So he’s saying they built a movement before they even branded this concept. –

Yeah as they were doing it. We were launching ClickFunnels™ and I was like if we’re just a software company like everybody else then we’re a commodity, right? If you’re a commodity then it’s like everyone is fighting for the lowest price and eventually you price yourself out and that’s how a lot of businesses happen. I was like we need to build something bigger where people are a part of this movement and they’re part of our tribe and they belong to this thing. And so about that time we were launching ClickFunnels™ and again at first it didn’t take off like I thought it was. I remember about two or three months into it I did a presentation about a concept we call Funnel Hacking which is like could we find somebody else as a funnel, you look at it and then you model it inside of ClickFunnels™. Our people started calling themselves funnelhackers.

I was like okay hey we’re funnelhackers. We started making T-shirts and everyone who signed up for our software make them watch a 10-minute video showing them how to use ClickFunnels™ and we mail them a T-shirt that says funnelhacker. Almost every week since we’ve launched ClickFunnels™ there’s been some the next ClickFunnels™ killer is coming out. I got emails from everyone forwarded and they’re like the competitor’s coming out. And so far I think there’s about thirty something that have come out and all of them have kind of fallen by the wayside and didn’t do much. –

You think that’s cause they weren’t movements like yours? – Yeah, well I asked some of my members how come you guys don’t try their software? Why aren’t you switching over? And they said because we’re part of this is like, this is not your company Russell. This is us, we’re funnelhackers, ClickFunnels™ are our tool, this is who we are. One guy, I remember he told me, he’s like I look at the ad long enough on my Facebook feed just long enough to laugh and then I scroll on.

Because I know that I’m a funnelhacker and I’m part of this movement. And so it’s like everyone is gonna try to beat us on pricing and things like that and it’s like no we built a community. We built a tribe of people who have a belief they’re going somewhere, there’s a vision what they’re all trying to do and that has been so huge in propelling us. they also share it We get organically about a thousand people a day that are signing up for ClickFunnels™. – And these are paid customers by the way. 55,000 paid customers. – Not free ones like most software. – Your free email list, how big is it? –

Over a million. – Over a million. – We’ve probably had about five hundred thousand or so that have actually created an account but yeah, 55,000 that are actively paying. – Paying you and it cost between what? – Between $100 and $300 a month. – 100 and 300 and then you’ve got some upgrades people can do. So, it is interesting we’re talking about this cause I was just reading this, I like to read textbooks even though I didn’t go to college. This is how I do my version of college.

So I was reading this book on, it’s just a psychology, Dr. David Russ, it’s a psychology book. He’s actually coming here tomorrow. He’s one of the most interesting guys in the world. And he’s talking about the rise of gang membership around the world. And he said it completely tracked the breakdown of the old family unit tribe. Gangs started to get big let’s say, I mean there’s always been some form of gang, but people want to belong to something. So now if you can build a business, you see that with Lady Gaga. She called her fans wasn’t it like Little Monsters or something like that?

And Justin Bieber what do they call, beliebers. – (chuckle) So one our top success stories we’re talking about in the book a lot. She’s in the weight loss space and her maiden name was Tool. She was always like Tool Time trainer. It was tough because people didn’t self identify with that. – Right. – And so she heard this for the first time, she was at an event we did and on the flight home she was like I need to change this to something that my people will associate with. It was tough for her because her business at that point had been her name. And she’s like that’s not big enough for everybody else. And so on the flight home she was thinking about ideas and all of a sudden she had this idea.

She’s like I’m gonna rebrand it as LadyBoss Weight Loss. And my winners are gonna be LadyBosses. And they went home and deleted their whole business which was doing well, rebranded it, launched this thing called LadyBosses and if you look at here movement right now they have over a hundred thousand women who have purchased their program so they’re in this thing. They do these swag drops. – Swag drops. – She’s like I’ve got my LadyBoss swag and she’ll come in and she’ll reveal it and they’ll have, so for a short period of time, and I’m not allowed to share their numbers, but they will sell so much clothing in a finite period of time to all the LadyBosses. Cause they have these shirts that say I’m a LadyBoss and they have all these quotes that people self identify with. – Yeah. –

And when they took it from a brand like from their name to this thing that’s bigger like people can identify with. – I just want to reiterate, I’ve seen this over and over. Even what I do. Knowledge Society is one of the names of one of my companies. And it’s not even something I tried to brand. And I see my employees latching on to that because you can’t latch on to being Tai Lopez, that’s just one person. But being attached to Knowledge Society is like this higher purpose and if you look at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs there’s five levels of needs. Physiological is at the base foundation.

And you have number two you have safety. And then number three you have love and number four you have status and respect. But number five is self actualization or actualization to a higher purpose. And that’s where people find god and they find, like Mahatma Gandhi and his movement to gain independence for his country. Martin Luther King Junior, Abraham Lincoln. And so what you’re doing is you’re applying those same principles to a brand. And it took you from zero to a hundred million dollars a year. –

The thing about the big brands, the ones that have done a really good job in the last generation have done that. Look at Apple. – [Tai] Biggest company in the world, Apple. – [Russell] Apple self-identify with that. Like there’s Apple users and there’s everybody else. There’s that thing, you look at shoes, you look at clothing lines, the best brands have done that. For some reason most businesses, we don’t think think about that, it’s like well I sell this or I’m a financial planner or I’m in real estate. Those who start looking at a pattern. I’m a big pattern guy. You see a pattern it’s like okay, now that I know the pattern, how can I amplify that. So when we realize this is the pattern. In the book we’ll say how to create those movements.

But you understand the pattern it’s like okay how can I do this for my business and when I became aware of it then it’s like okay now that I know what it is I can amplify it. I know that these are the pieces of how to make this movement happen and like what are all the elements of a good movement and how to be the leader of that movement. And one of the things, when you understand it you can amplify it. – Yeah. – And most of them never know, they’re like I sell this thing. This is my business. – Tell us a little more. What did you build, was it just this hacker funnel kind of idea or funnel hacks or what did you identify with? –

You know I think the majority of our members they’re small entrepreneurs, they’re people who are still involved in their business. They’ve been marketing their business and they’re passionate about that. I was our customers like five or six years ago. I had ideas, things I wanted to get out but I didn’t know how to do that. I’m not a website designer or developer or anything. So I had to hire people and it was so slow and just frustrating.

So for me it was like when we made ClickFunnel I was able to as someone who is passionate about my product or my service I could just go and put it out there really, really fast. I was talking to your partner earlier about MentorBox and he was like back in the days I had a hundred developers here to build all of our software, our things. He’s like guess how many work for our company now?

Two and they log into ClickFunnels™ and they edit stuff. Like that’s all we do. So it gives people like us who are passionate about a product, or an idea, or whatever it gives us. I was hoping it makes entrepreneurs free to share their message, not get bogged down in all the tech stuff that keeps people from doing it. And so our people, our phone hackers.

ClickFunnels™ Mass Movement: Like that’s their thing. I don’t get stuck down with all the tech. I can just go and share my message. I can sell products. ClickFunnels™ 2018 Year in Review

Hey, that’s me Russell. Now I was a regular kid from Utah was pretty terrible in school. I was inspiring wrestler and overall as fairly ADHD at the age of 6. I got my very first job working for my parents weeding the garden and picking vegetables. Now the job was good at a steady paycheck.

I got health insurance, but then I thought I hate eating beets.

What if I just sold these instead Now by age 15, I became completely obsessed with creating and selling stuff such as potato guns credit board about awesome for Russell Brunson success.

He and her friend thought it would be fun to go online and find out how to make a potato gun wasn’t long that he discovered over 18,000 people were doing the same thing as a paragraph form that has sixty five hundred registered members on there. So Russell said to himself I bet I can make a product and probably sell it to all those people that are looking for it, but it comes a time in your life when you realize a potato guns don’t really have a global market. So I thought what if I create something even better?

And also what if I was wearing a better shirt?

Well, it didn’t come quick after years of selling products and courses and events. I finally found a better way of running any business see everyone there Grandma had a website but very few actually made a difference in their business at all. There are too many options and pretty images but zero personality and no sales strategy.

So ask the people who are way smarter than me to partner up on an idea and went to war with websites that we wanted to do things differently. No VCS around tables telling us what to do instead of creating a software.

We wanted to create a movement instead of focusing on profits went to focus on impact and Legacy.

I’m being example. It’s okay to be different.

so to do that we have to be bold loud and disruptive and we were So what happened in 2018?

Well, first of all growth ClickFunnels™ over 70,000 active monthly users and those users built over 4 million funnels and process 2.4 billion dollars in sales that’s billion with a B. Now numbers are impressive but we realize the true importance of what we do at our annual funnel hacking live event, which Grew From 600 people over 3,500 people and we had Tony Robbins speaking in this year because he’s the man we ordered another hundred sixty-eight 2 comma Club winners which makes over 400 total plus this year. We had over 17 people who made more than 10 million dollars inside of a funnel. So because of that we created new award called 2 comma Club X becomes the bigger plaque and a funnel hacker diamond ring. This is 2 ounces of white gold four carats of diamonds and yellow gold ClickFunnels™ logo in the middle on top of that we purchased a dream car for 16 of our Affiliates and check this out one of our Affiliates made over a million dollars in commission just by promoting ClickFunnels™. It’s insane.

Isn’t that amazing now? I feel easy. Extension of our team which continues to grow by the way this year we hired over 48 more full-time employees keeps growing here. So like we need another office. So we’re actually buying the land behind the office to build a super office. If you guys to the new office that we just moved in to open an office in Atlanta when in Grand Rapids, Michigan plus created a full-blown Production Studio up in Toronto not to mention the fact we went from just six to over 15 full-time developers working remotely all around the world. By the way. We’re still hiring.

This is also our first year of taking social media. Seriously.

ClickFunnels™ 2018 Year in Review

You’re crazy season 2 if I like or TV which got over 1.5 million views. We also grew funnel Friday’s the marketing Secrets podcast and a chance to interview tons of cool people like Tony Robbins Tai Lopez Billie, Jean and a whole bunch more which motivate us lots of crazy stuff like kayaking in a storm if you haven’t yet click a button to subscribe.

I’ve always had a goal of building my dream house, which was a mix of be super fun and also be super productive and this year. I had a chance to actually see that through nine trampolines a volleyball in the basketball court a soccer and football field flow tanka cryosauna a workout room and wrestling room at tennis court. Basically, there will never be a birthday party at any other kids house besides are so in February. We got invited to speak at Grant cardones live event with over 9,000 people here. So we had a goal with a ton of planning rule-breaking and risk and a little bit of choreography. We sold over 3.2 million dollars is now the highest paid speaker on the planet. He had basically broken a world record.

So it kind of created a lot of Buzz. So because of that we decided to create a course teaching people how to sell from stage every one of the office got a to combo cup of work and they were pretty excited.

I’m top post your own events for the chance to go attend a bunch of events as well fact. Our favorite one was went to San Francisco to the dreamforce event. And at that event had a chance here Marc benioff speed over a hundred seventy thousand business owners while we were there Silicon Valley. We had a chance to see tons of tech companies help me see the vision for what click phones is going to become in the future.

Now the next part of the story got a little bit ridiculous.

ClickFunnels™ 2018 Year in Review

We jumped in a plane and flew to Chicago to meet Grant Cardone, but unfortunately Grant got the dates wrong. So I called my friend Brian took his private jet came and picked us up and then flew us to Miami and then me Grant Cardone with who then flows back to Chicago and in the air finger trick Grand building is very first funnel for 10x girls con which by the way this year’s have over thirty five thousand entrepreneurs in the audience and guess who’s going to be speaking Steve Harvey and me recently went to Provo Utah with Andrew Warner from mixergy to tell the ClickFunnels™ startup story. We also invited JP Sears to come and completely roast meat at that made a video with JP Sears where he revealed he’s actually bald.

We also made a video with Brandon Carter basically this year. I’ve been in tons of experimenting with new school and influencer style marketing to grow our brand but for all my old jeans out there. Don’t worry we’re sticking to the classics. In fact this year. We did an old-school PBS style Telethon to actually sell tickets to funnel hacking live.

Top of all the other awesome marketing stuff. We’re also consistently upgrading ClickFunnels™ to better serve you in fact recent create new plug-in where you put the thing into the funnel and it increases how much money you make and how you get more emails like this.

Thank you over the years. We’ve gotten a ton of great feedback from you guys, which is why we’ve worked hard this year to deliver over 290 updates and a few amazing features like the ability to use Facebook Messenger to notify your customers desktop notifications and an integrated email service provider platform. We know how it feels when technical hurdles can get in your way. We also know how it feels when things go smooth and you look like a rockstar.

It’s your needs your request to push us to make ClickFunnels™ better every single day. We listened we deploy and we strive to give you the tools you need to go out and change the world and your own way.

Our photo hacker families are an extremely well, but we’re also doing a lot of good the ClickFunnels™ mission is to liberate and educate the world because that this year we partnered with two amazing Charities the first being Village impact we gave them a check for Thousand dollars and me and a few fellow hackers actually flew to Kenya to open up our third school. We told our community all about all of you and our community wanted to help on top of that. We also funded a feature film for operation Underground Railroad today the fight against modern day slavery in less than 48 hours were able to raise over a million dollars for them at funnel hacking live.

Thank you. This couldn’t have happened without ClickFunnels™ puddle hackers are changing the world the best part about all this is the fact that he’s been more time with our family. For example this year. I launched new coaching program. I’m coaching my kids wrestling team. It doesn’t make me emotional adult as they will take my wife to a dream concert the Kelly Clarkson concert which by the way congratulations on winning American Idol, I had a chance to spend tons of quality time by parents trying to explain to me exactly what I do. They still don’t get it but the good news is they finally stop telling me to get a real job and last I was gonna take my family to McCall Idaho to complete disconnect fact, this is the first year I’ve ever disconnected from phones and funnels that everything in fact because I felt so good to be completely disconnected.

I’m officially announcing my retirement.

Just kidding. I’m not retiring I go to work. We’re still that this year has so many other amazing moments. I’m never going to forget so get ready for Rapid Fire some additional 24,000 copies of experts Secrets plus 23,000 copies of.com Secrets and little one of them on fire and shot with potato gun when the entrepreneur of the Year award and gotta wear a suit. We shot our second infomercial with the Harmon Brothers an awkwardly got to act in that one place in the Inc 500 list of the fastest growing companies spoke to Tony Robbins event race super cars around Miami didn’t know how to work the door. You don’t drive these things. There’s the part.

Oh and I got to fly a plane run out of office space in the walls, but you call a couple words when I Safari and made out with a giraffe flew in a helicopter over Las Vegas and also Wyoming’s on Metallica live twice this year officially launched 30 days.com one fun way challenge tedx secrets and the mother funnel which leads us to hear. It’s the new year. We got 350 Footlocker’s cruising through the Caribbean.

Yeah.

So that’s all cool that this year means nothing without the lessons we’ve learned. So for me, there’s really been three major breakthroughs number one the importance of goal setting strive for the impossible the unheard of the Absurd dreams. You’ve always had and even if you don’t always hit it it’s way more fun than being realistic.

Number two, the greatest motivation and business will not come from how much money you make the stuff you own or the vacation you take it comes from seeing the results of the people you’re trying to help when you focus on their results, you’ll get all the motivation you need.

Number three in business. There isn’t any Glory without having amazing people to share it with share the ideas the struggles the late nights and the energy drinks share the ambition and when you do that you find it becomes even bigger than you ever could have imagined as a small-town kid from Utah. – Hey this is Russell again, I want to welcome you back to part three of my interview with Tony Robins. I hope you’ve watched part one and part two. If you haven’t yet, go back to the beginning of this playlist and watch those first. Help you get all the context of the interview and now we are transitioning into the third part of the interview. Which is, for me, my favorite part. It is understanding the mastery and mastering a concept called the Epiphany Bridge. What is the Epiphany Bridge? It is the way you tell stories to get customers, to get people, to get prospects to come and become leads, become costumers to buy your products and your services. And these concepts they work in all types of businesses. In fact, during the interview, Tony asked me, well how does this work for a real business? Not a infomart, you know information business or an internet business, but a real business. And I shared a story about one of my friends whose a chiropractor. I don’t want to ruin that part of the story, you’re gonna love it. But, how he used these epiphany bridge stories to grow his practice here locally in town as well.

And so, there’s a whole bunch of cool things you can learn about storytelling, story selling, how to give people the transformations they need when their buying your products and your services. You’re gonna love this. It’s my favorite part of the whole thing, so let’s jump right in now to part three of the interview with my friend Tony Robins. – Tell us about the Epiphany Bridge and how you can use that concept to sell just about anything, without actually selling anything. – Actually, got a little white board for you to show this. I did my homework, prepared for today, so this is funny, most people if they’re trying to sell you something, they come to you and they try to pitch you logically on the thing, like why they believe in their thing. So I drew this out one day, and this has been huge for me and for everyone that goes through my coaching stuff. Is this thing called the Epiphany Bridge. What happens is like, this is us, right here, right? And we’re living our normal life, I could use this example, before I met you, before I started going to your things, life was good, I thought everything was perfect. And then I was introduced to you and I had this epiphany where it was like life is good, but I’m seeing things in black and white, now things are colorful.

For me, it was huge. So I went on this journey where I went on this big Epiphany Bridge and what happens is we come over here to this side of the bridge. What happens over here is we start studying, we start learning, we start geeking out. And so, I went to all your events, read all your books multiple times, your courses. For you, I’m in the Tony world, right? I understand your language patterns. And then I go to my wife and I’m so excited to tell her I learned all this stuff, and the first thing that we all do is we jump over here, and this says techno babble, we jump and we start trying to logically convince the people around us. Like, oh yeah, you could learn this thing, and we spew out this techno babble and they freak out. They’re like, “ugh” and they run away right? What we have to do, if we want to sell something to somebody, we have to come back to this thing. We have to remember what was the emotional experience that we had that gave us that big epiphany. If you understand an emotional experience, then that’s how you sell someone. I come back and I tell a story, when I tell that story, my goal is to get people to have the same epiphany that I had, if they have that same epiphany then I don’t have to sell them anything. They have that epiphany, they go “wow that’s true” and they’ll go sell themselves logically all day long.

I just have to come back here, remember the experience I had, and become really good at telling it. In the book, it’s not just like telling a story, I walk through like the process and the scripts, and how to control their state, and this is a huge thing I learned from you, ’cause how many people tell a story and one person tells a story and something happened, and you’re like “okay cool”, you try to explain it three or four times and finally you say, oh man, I guess you had to be there, if you were there you would’ve experienced it. The biggest thing I’ve always seen people struggle with they try to get into business, they try to sell their advice, and things like that, is they get into this used car salesman mode of trying to learn how to close people, and I’m like “no, it’s not closing” What was it that got you fired up, if you can remember that moment, and you get really good at telling that story then they’ll feel that and they’ll get fired up too, and that’s the key. And so we understand that and this book is all about that. – As you know leadership is all about transferring emotion because logic does not get us to take action, there’s not enough juice in the logic right? When will we have enough logic to justify an emotional decision?

What do think is the biggest misconception about marketing today, and what do people, if they only did one thing to change their marketing for the better, what would it be? – I think the biggest misconception is that people and this comes down to everything I learned from you, People are so tied to their significance that when they try to sell themselves their business that they try to posture themselves all the time and posturing deflects people, even though it makes you feel, I don’t know what it is, the more vulnerable you get, the better it is. We have our high end coaching programs for less, how do you sell that Russell? I’m like “I show a ten minute video of me telling my story of my wife and we’re trying to have twins, cried three or four times in it, and I tell that story, I’m super vulnerable, and people connect with me and then they follow me. It’s about connection and being vulnerable is that’s what get people to draw into you, it’s not significance or stature, its vulnerability, and that’s what gets people in. And that works for any business, I had a friend who’s a chiropractor, I was trying to help him, and it was funny, ’cause he was trying to sell like all the other chiropractors talked about their fees and all this stuff, and how the adjustment and alignment and all this technical stuff and I kept asking him, finally one day, I was like “why are you a chiropractor”, and he told me this amazing story about his wife got in a car wreck and he was in dental school at the time, and she got injured really really bad and took her to a medical doctor, a couple places and nothing helped.

Finally he took her to a chiropractor, and he adjusts her and literally changed her life and he loved it so much he dropped out of dental school, and then he went and became a chiropractor, now he loves it. And so we got a video of him telling that story, that emotional, I got chills just telling it again told that story, put it on Facebook, and his practice was struggling, as he was trying to be a salesperson, blew up overnight as he started sharing his story and becoming vulnerable with people. That’s the future market, it used to be slick sales letters, good copy, all that kind of stuff, that’s what worked before today, as people are watching your video, they’re Googling your name, and Facebooking you, doing everything, if you’re not vulnerable at all times, and being yourself all the time it’s too easy to not know and it’s all about just that connection, that’s marketing today, and that’s where it’s going. – That’s what I love about you brother, you’re the real thing, it’s so rare unfortunately, ’cause you know the more you try to prove you’re the best and try to convince people and try to be significant, the more they want to prove they’re more significant than you. All the most successful groups of people throughout time have had a mastermind group. Think about king Arthur and the knights of the round table. You think about my group of people. The funnel hackers, like the illuminati. That’s actually probably a bad example, but all of us have a (mumbles) group of people where we get together and we share ideas, thoughts, passions to be able to get something even more successful than where we are today.

If you think about it, they always say that you are the average of your five closest friends in terms of how much money you make, how successful you are the things the vision, everything you’re doing is all based on the people you’re surrounding yourself with. And the right mastermind group can elevate you to the next level. (intense music)

So why should you have mastermind group? If you do have one, how do you actually run it? Well with my mastermind group, the way it works, we get together twice a year and it gives the chance to hold each other accountable. Every time before the next meeting happens, everybody’s so excited to get stuff done they promised they’d do last time ’cause they don’t wanna disappoint the rest of the group.

Number two, it gives you foresight and vision what to do next. It’s kinda like Wayne Gretzky. He said that the reason why he was so good is not because he knew how to find the goal, it’s ’cause he knew where the puck was going, because he knew where it was going, he was able to get there before everybody else, and the same thing true in the mastermind group.

You figure out the vision where you’re all going collectively, and you get there before everybody else. Other amazing benefits are you get some amazing collaborations. Your best partners are typically inside of your mastermind groups. One of my favorite things is it’s actually the best way to learn. It’s way better than our traditional education system.

Here I’m learning from people who are in the weeds doing it every single day as opposed to people that read theory about it in a book. And now I wanna tell you about how I created mine so that you get some insights to how you can create yours as well. (intense music) First things you gotta think about as you’re deciding to do your mastermind is what’s the topic? Every mastermind is themed around a topic.

Some around business building, some around fitness, some around financial planning. Whatever your market it, you gotta find that group of people to be interested. The second phase is then figuring out who are the right people in the room. Who could actually complement each other? Who’s ideas, if they were shared, would actually help the group grow together as opposed to competing and kinda tearing the group down, and really figuring out what’s your space in this ecosystem?

Why is your mastermind different or unique from anybody else’s? Why would some come all the way to you, to Boise, Idaho, or wherever you live, to be a part of your mastermind group? What is it that makes your special? Mine’s called the inner circle and what makes ours special is we’re the only mastermind group that specialized in sales funnels and using sales funnels to grow your companies.

That niche inside of all business buildings is what makes ours unique and makes ours different. You gotta figure out for yourself what makes yours different and that’s what’s gonna get the right people to come to you and be attracted into your group. Another example, my friend Stu, he’s got a huge mastermind group teaching people how to run membership sites.

Another one is Rhonda Swan. She lives all the way out in Bali, and she helps people to do branding, but also it’s a niche inside that where people actually wanna travel as well. So they’re traveling to Bali, they’re talking about travel, so it’s taking the people who want branding, people who want travel, and that cross section is what makes her mastermind magic.

It doesn’t matter what market you’re in, as long as you pick a market and find people inside that market who are interested in your topic, and bring those people together and collectively you all grow together. (intense music) All right, now one of the most important things when you’re building your mastermind is how you get the groups. The first thing is you have to run people through an application.

If you let everybody in, you have no idea what kind of crazy people can get into your room and destroy the whole group from the inside out. – All I’m– – Shh! – They’re gonna get– – Shh! – I– – Shh! – I’m just– – Shh! Knock, knock. – Who’s there? – Shh! – So we always have to have an application processes to get somebody in, to make sure the right fit for the group you’re trying to build.

Number two is when somebody’s in there, you have to be protective of your family, of the group you are building. Multiple times I’ve had to kick people out because they weren’t willing to share or they were takers and not serving the group as a whole. You have to be willing and okay with actually kicking people out and giving them their money back. And number three is you have to cap how many people are inside of the group.

As it started to grow, I decided I was gonna cap it off at 100 people. Which was the smartest thing I did. Two things happened. Number one, is it kept people in. People didn’t leave because the group was finite, and they didn’t want to lose their spot. We call it inner circle for life. If they leave, they can never come back in. once somebody is in, they’re in, and the second thing is that as soon as the spots are filled up, and no matter what happens, we do not sell more than our 100 spots.

At that point, the group is locked out and that way it keeps the family atmosphere because everybody keeps re-upping year in and year out, that family gets tighter and tighter, and everybody collectively as a whole, all their companies, all their businesses all grow together, and you see a bigger impact amongst the people you’re serving when you cap it and keep everybody within, as opposed to having a mastermind where new people are coming in and out every single week, every single month, and every single year.

So after you got your group and people are signed up for it and you’re gonna do it, then the next question is where do you do it? Do you do it virtually, do you do it online, or do you actually go somewhere to a physical location? I’m a big believer that there’s some magic that happens when people are together in a room that you kinda miss when you’re just online. So I’m a big believer in getting people into the room.

There’s two kind of places you can go. Some people like me, who’d like to stay close to home can do it in their hometown, or the other idea, which a lot of people do as well, is find a destination location. Go somewhere where people wanna go on vacation anyway, do the mastermind group, and then have a extended vacation right either before or after the mastermind as well.

Which is a good way to get people to want to go there, because not only are they going for your meeting, they’re going for their vacation as well. When people come in the room the very first time, we try not to just allow them to sit anywhere, ’cause they do that, they go sit by their friends and by the different relationships they already have, and when you’re super comfortable, it’s hard to be vulnerable, so what we do is we actually set the room and we move around the seats so you’re not sitting next to the people you’re super comfortable with, you sit next to people who are new so you can get to know them.

You can talk about them, and it’s the easiest way to start opening yourself up. And each time you come back in, all the seats are mixed up again. So you’re never sitting two days in a row next to the same person, and that way you get different perspectives and different insights than you would by hanging out with the same friends you know every single time.

(calming music) When they first come through the door, one of the things we give them besides the swag that we have them put on, is a notebook, and it’s always a new notebook, it’s completely blank from the very beginning, and the reason why we did that is after the first two or three years of giving out notebooks, we had one of our members, his name’s Jamie Amus, he came on stage and he held up three or four of his notebooks he had and he said, I’ve been in the mastermind group now for two years.

I’ve been through four meetings, and he said, every one of these notebooks I fill full of notes when I’m sitting in the room. He said, as I’ve gone home, every one of these has made me at least an extra million dollars. He says there’s four million dollars of value right here in this hand, and he said I’m back excited to start filling up book number five. And ever since then, we’ve always had a brand new clean, clear notebook for everyone as soon as they come to the door, because their next million idea is about to be put into that thing, and if they get it, they can take it home and they can execute on it.

(intense music) First it started really, really small, and I didn’t really know what I was doing, and if I’m completely honest, at first it was kind of boring. But what I wanted to talk about tonight is kind of a broad overview of the whole internet marketing business. And then I realized one of the secrets. Is if you run a mastermind group the way you run school, the way you run college, what happens is everybody falls asleep.

(grunting) And so we decided, okay we have to keep the energy up really, really high if we’re gonna have a successful experience, and people are gonna get the most out of it possible. So they come in the door, immediately they always get swag. When they come into the room, we have to have an ambiance, and a feel that feels a little bit different, ’cause we want this to be a marketing raid where people are learning, they’re enjoying it, but they’re not gonna fall asleep, so that’s why we’re consistently pumping oxygen into the room to make sure everybody stays awake.

That’s not actually true, we don’t do that, but that’d be awesome. (laughing) Between every single break, people don’t sit, everybody stands up and they walk and they move. Momentum will move you forward, momentum keeps your brain working and functioning at the highest level. If I’m gonna keep your energy high for two days, it can’t be like school. It has to be a different, unique experience. It has to be more like a club than your homeroom. Then the second layer is sound.

If it’s super quiet, it keeps the energy low. We gotta keep the energy high. Again, just like you’re in a dance club. So we have a DJ, next you have to have a whiteboard. Not any kind of whiteboard. It’s gotta be a big whiteboard with big markers so as you’re doodling fast, people can see everything from the very back of the room.

There’s nothing worse than mic runners and everybody’s waiting, it slows the energy down. So we have the mics that you can actually throw across the room. Keep the energy high, so the second someone’s got a question, you can address it, they can ask the question, throw it back. We keep the motion and keep the momentum moving forward the whole time.

Then we have all of the energy drinks. These are essential, ’cause most entrepreneurs have ADD, and we’re not used to sitting in a classroom behind a desk. In fact, most of us struggled or we failed out of school. When we’re siting in a desk, it kinda stresses us out, so we allow people to stand up to move. We let them drink energy drinks, ’cause we want nobody dozing off, feeling tired.

We wanna keep the energy level high the entire time. We also have energy gum. The stuff came from the military. If you chew that, then you will never fall asleep. The next step, we always bring food in. The food is very paleo. Lots of meats, lots of vegetables to make sure that nobody slows down both mentally or physically as we’re going throughout the day. (intense music) I’m gonna walk you through how we run our day here.

When the meeting first begins, I usually get up at the very beginning and kinda go through some of the ground rules and how the whole game’s gonna be played, because a lot of times there’s new people coming in so I explain how it’s gonna work and kinda set the tone for the day.

Welcome to inner circle, everybody. (cheering) So excited to have you guys here today. Immediately after that, then I transition into the biggest takeaways that I’ve gotten since the last six months I’ve been here. As a facilitator, I wanna make sure that I’m always bringing the best, the newest, the coolest stuff to share with them. The stuff they wouldn’t see anywhere else.

They’re not gonna see it in a product course or online anywhere else. Just the stuff that we’re seeing behind the scenes, and I just open up the curtains. I give them everything that we’re doing. So see exactly what we’re doing so they can then take those things and implement them back in their business.

To be the first isn’t the key, but it’s understanding how to actually design and execute on a category, and when you do that, and you become the category king, then it’s almost impossible to beat you, right? Then we break down and we have each person gets a chance to get up on stage and talk about their business.

So the way it begins is I grab the mic box and I scream their name at the top of the lungs, everybody stand up and give them a huge round of applause so we can set the tone and the energy right. We then have their song start playing as they walk up on stage. Together for Mr. James P (mumbles) (applause) Yeah. They’re given 30 times of time to go on and present to the audience.

The first 10 to 15 minutes, they have a chance to share their story, and to give anything that they’ve got, that they’ve learned inside their business, any of the big takeaways, the big ah-ha’s, the things that are working the best for them. They just give those to the group, and one of the biggest rules is you always provide value first before you ever ask for value back in exchange. So after they provide as much value as they can to the group, then the last 15 minutes they transition, and this is where they can ask the group for help.

Here’s the things they’re working on, thing they’re stuck, things they’re not sure about, things that they’re thinking about doing, they want feedback from the group before they actually do that. But we don’t hold things back. We tell them exactly what, not what they wanna hear but what they need to hear. We give them actual proof of validation of hey we tried this in my business and it didn’t work. ClickFunnels™ Mastermind Secrets

We saw it over her and it didn’t work. Instead you should be doing this. Sometimes it’s brutal, sometimes peoples’ dreams, and visions, and plans we kinda destroy them, but afterwards we build them back up and give them the foundation they need to actually move forward, so that way when they go back home and they start running, they’re running the right direction.

There’s nothing worse than running and doing everything right but you’re running in the wrong direction. We course correct, we get them on the right path, and make sure they’re running towards the right target. When they do that, they get to where they’re trying to get to a lot faster, and that’s the goal of the mastermind.

After you get off stage, then I grab the mic and I yell back, all right everyone stand up and you’re gonna walk and talk and share with the rest of the group the biggest takeaway you got from that person’s presentation. And everyone has a chance to then grab a new partner, walk around the room, and share the biggest ah-ha that they got from that person’s presentation.

One of the amazing byproducts of the mastermind that you don’t plan on when you show up that happens every single time is that you think you’re gonna get the most value when you’re on stage, but typically what happens is while you’re paying attention to serving that person, that’s when you get the biggest ah-ha’s for your own personal business.

So as you’re listening with those ears, listening for the ah-ha’s coming back down to you, and you grab those things, and as you’re walking, talking, you share them with the partner next to you, ’cause when you share them, it solidifies them, it cements them into your mind and it actually gives you something you can use when you go back home. – Russell, you were mentioning yesterday in your talk that oftentimes you’re mistaken for like, oh I look 11 years old. Oh, poor Russell, looks like he’s 11, awww. (audience laughing) You know Russell, have you considered my friend, maybe the fact that you made a product on how to build potato guns might have made people think you were 11? I dunno, I’m just, just a theory.

Just a theory. – My name is Russell Brunson and I’m part of an underground group of entrepreneurs that you’ve probably never even heard of before. We don’t rely on cash from venture capitalists to get started and we don’t even have goals to go public either.

In fact, our motivation is the exact opposite. You see, we have products and services and things that we know change people’s lives. Because we’re fighting against the big brands, people with literally unlimited budgets, we have to do things differently.

We have to do things smarter. We don’t have financial safety nets, because every test we take is with our own money. We have to be profitable from day number one. So how do we do that? How’s that even possible? If you ask the MBAs or look in your college text books they will tell you that what we are doing is impossible, yet it’s happening every single day. And it’s happening through an art and a science that we call Funnel Hacking. It’s not really something that I can explain to you, it’s something I have to show you.

(energetic music) Every year people ask me, how do I pick the speaker for Funnel Hacking Live?

When I first met Sean Stephenson for the first time, I knew within half a second, it’s like I want Sean on our stage. Now, I had no idea that he was going to spend the first like 15 minutes of the presentation roasting me and making fun of me, but it was really really cool for a couple reasons. One, it was cool to see how it tied the audience and bonded it them to him. Which was really cool.

And second off, it was just always funny to hear what people really think about you. – You’re so clean and good. How many people, deep down inside have a little bit of the feeling that I have, you would just love to see Russell like in sweatpants with like Cheetos whipped on ’em and like, and you know, he’s like angry, and his hair’s all messed up, and he’s like cussing like a sailor.

How many people? Am I the only one that fantasizes about this? (audience laughing) (audience applauding) – Every Funnel Hacking Live we’re trying to build a storyline of like, of what are… the community as a whole, what are they struggling with? Where are they stuck?

What are they trying to figure out? And so many people in our community are trying to get their message, trying to get their voice, trying to get things out. And they get frustrated and struggle by the fact that they’re trying to help all these people. And a lot of times, no matter how many people you try to help, a lot of times you just can’t help them.

A lot of times it’s family members or friends or people that you’re trying to figure out, how can I change that person’s life? But they won’t come and listen to your product or your service or the thing that you’re trying to sell. And one of my favorite parts of Sean’s presentation is when he talked about that.

Talked about how do you know who to save? How do you know who to help first? And so I actually wanna show you guys that clip from Funnel Hackering Live, ’cause it’s one of my favorite from clips from all the speakers ever inside of Funnel Hacking Live was this part of the presentation that Sean gave. –

How many people have ever made a video on YouTube or Facebook and it only had like 10 to 30 or 100 views, and you kinda were pissed? Oh! I wish I had more visibility. Well these 15 souls needed what you just sent. When the Coast Guard goes out on a stormy night to rescue a boat that has capsized. They bring their helicopter and they hover over top of the boat and they realize, there’s more people in the water than there’s space in the helicopter. Who do they save?

You know what their motto is? We can only save the people who swim toward us. I can only help those that swim toward me. You will go nuts if you try to help people that do not want your help, but claim that they do. The moment you try to help somebody and they push you back and push you back, you have to say look, you know what? I love you, I’m gonna be over there. Hopefully you’ll swim toward me at some point. If you don’t, this helicopter’s leaving.

The quickest way for you to drown is to try to help somebody that’s flailing around in the water. Or that’s swimming away from you, when there’s all these people that are actually wanting to swim toward you. You know those 15 likes on that YouTube video of yours? They’re the ones swimming toward you. (water sloshing) – As you can tell from that clip, Sean’s entire presentation was amazing. But that was definitely the part that was most impactful for me. Understanding that we can’t help and save everybody, but we can start working towards helping those people who are swimming towards us.

And a lot of times inside of our community, people ask me, how do I get my message out? How do I find the people and get them to come to me? And I think at first it takes you learning your voice and finding it, practicing. Doing Facebook Lives, doing podcasts, doing things to kind of figure out what your message is. And as you start doing those things, people will start resonating with you which is magical.

But then the second piece is like, how do you capture that story in a way that’s really gonna be impactful for people? Because Sean gave us such an amazing gift at Funnel Hacking Live, we wanted to give him a gift as well, so we decided to jump in a plane, both Brandon Fisher and I, and fly to Arizona to help capture Sean’s story in a way that he could use to bring more people to him. – [Sean] (voice drowned out by music) bacon, try that. – (chuckles) Oh yeah.

What we got Sean? – [Sean] All right, let’s get going. – [Russell] All right Sean, what does Snoop Dogg wash his clothes with? – Bleaaach. (upbeat music) – Now when we first came to Arizona, we were planning on making one core video, but after spending time with Sean and the white board mapping a bunch of things out, we decided that it wasn’t just one video we needed.

We actually needed probably about three or four different indoctrination videos to take somebody on a journey, help them understand who Sean was and build a connection with him, build rapport and make them want to be working closer with him. And so that’s what we kinda decided. And so we went and actually went and filmed these videos capturing Sean’s story and I wanna show you just one of ’em right now. – People are always curious about like, have I always been this positive?

Have I always had a good outlook on life and I said, you know, it really all stems back to one moment. I was having challenges growing up with broken bones with my condition and people would stare at me. And I’ve dealt with a lot of challenges living in this container. And my favorite day of the year was Halloween. I loved Halloween. And most kids like Halloween ’cause the costumes and the party and the candy. But I loved it because it was the one day out of the year that everybody got dressed up, and I could finally blend in. And it was like a magical day where I didn’t have a disability in people’s eyes.

And my mom was in the kitchen and she was packing up our lunches and she was getting everything out to the minivan and I was laying on the floor and I was rolling around. And I catch my left leg on the corner of the door and I bent it back and I snapped it at the femur. And in that moment, there’s a bit of a time delay between hearing the sound of a snap and feeling the pain.

But it’s like an eternity because you know what’s coming. And I was just so angry, because I knew I was gonna miss the party and I knew I was gonna miss that one day where I got to feel normal. And my mom comes running in the room and she kneels down beside me.

See, she could just calm me down, there’s nothing really she could do for me medically, because my bones couldn’t be set like somebody else’s, taken to the hospital. And so my mom just had to keep me immobilized for four to six weeks whenever I would break a bone.And she would play this game with me, as any parent who would wanna take their children away from pain, she said, what was your favorite part about our last vacation? But that day, I was so angry. And she could see that anger in my eyes. So she leaned back and she formulated another question. And then she

asked me, Sean, is this going to be a gift or a burden in your life? And I’m thinking is she crazy? A gift. And something magical happened though, before I could respond. It’s like I got clarity on my life. And I realized that she was basically saying, are you going to use this as an excuse the rest of your life as why you’re not happy and why you’re not gonna take a positive outlook? Or are you gonna use this as an example for yourself and others to love your life amidst your pain, ’cause we all fracture.

We all have fractures in our marriage or fractures in our business or fractures in raising our children. And when you find that there’s a purpose to your pain, it doesn’t make the pain go away. It just gives you the fuel to keep going through it and know that it’s not gonna be there forever. And it really just shifted my whole attitude about life. I realized that you have control over what you make things mean and how you interpret things. And was in that moment I really honestly started to see myself as on a mission here in this container.

The purpose of this whole club is to bring together a group of people who wanna support each other and empower each other to win. You have to have a tribe. You cannot succeed alone in life. It’s hard to go through life by yourself and try to be the only person that is picking yourself back up. It’s good to be in a space where you have people that are not just your cheerleaders, but giving you good suggestions on how you can handle those challenges, so it’s something I’m really excited about because this is where people can go to get their mind and their heart on the same page. –

As you can tell, Sean’s got an amazing story. But people always ask me like Russell, how do I do videos like that? And they think that they need emotional videos, like they think that they need to be crying. And they record a video and they don’t cry and they’ll try again, be like, I didn’t cry. It’s not emotional. But you don’t understand, emotion’s not just crying. Like there’s a time and a place for that.

But emotion is excitement, it’s energy, it’s showing how you actually feel. If you watch any of my videos, watch this video, I’m excited right now as you can probably tell from my eyes and my voice and my, my voice fluctuations, and people are attracted to energy. So the more emotion you can show could be, it could be emotional crying, it could be sad, it could be happy, it could be joy, it could be just energy, it could be excitement. Like that’s the key to really making a video that people are gonna emotionally connect with, it’s actually showing your true emotion about how you feel.

I know that sometimes when you put a camera on, you get nervous and you get awkward. But the key is is really getting, coming back to a state and remembering what it was that got you so excited and then telling people that story from that state. If you do that, they’re gonna feel exactly what you felt when you were in that state the first time it actually happened to you. Want more marketing secrets? All right, we’re back from Arizona and this week, we’re spending a lot of time working on videos ’cause videos are the connection point in almost every single funnel, every single ad.

And if you remember the episode a little while ago, the 24 episode where we built that three or four funnels in a 24 hour period of time. One of the funnels we built was for a product called WakeShake. And the WakeShake video, if I’m completely honest, when all was said and done, we weren’t very happy with it. And we wanted to redo it. We wanted to make something that was funnier, something that caused emotion and we got people to laugh. But also something that placed a seed of doubt.

One of the most powerful selling mechanisms we have, one of the most powerful tools is to place a seed of doubt inside the mind of the customer for all the other alternatives besides your product and your service. And so from this video, we wanted to place a seed of doubt showing that whey is the thing that causes the problems. Everyone around you will be happy you did. – So the important lesson in what you learned from this is that every time you put a video out there, it’s not always gonna work the first time. Sometimes you have to do it over and over and over again. But have fun with the process, make it enjoyable. Like all of us are literally running our own little mini ad agencies which is so exciting to think about. And so have some fun with the creative and figure out how to capture the stories in a video that’s gonna get somebody to move and take action.

Now, next video I wanna share with you guys that we created was one for a friend named Tim Larkin. Now Tim runs a business teaching people self defense, but not normal self defense. This is basically, if somebody comes and attacks you, how do you, how do you put them out? How do you pop their eyeball out? How do you kill them by karate chopping them in the throat before they have a chance to attack you? And he’s told me that for a long time and he wanted some help with the funnel. I said, okay, this is the deal.

I would love to help you with the video for your funnel, but first off, I want you to come to Boise and to actually train me and train my team so that way if somebody meets me in the street, I can pop their eye out or choke them out, whatever it is we needed to do. And so lucky for us, Tim and his entire team flew out and gave us a two day training in my wrestling room, showing us how to defend ourselves in case of an attack. (man grunting) – Strike.

First or second knuckle, we want all five of them to be wet. And I do this. (man grunting) There, if I’ve done that correctly, coming off the wall with my body weight. And the eyes available to me. Hit high sternum, it goes right up into the neck every time. It’s gonna resist for a second, and then break. And what we’re doing is we wanna compress and crush the bone. Find the target, strike the target.

When you’re throwing something with body weight… Finding targets. Without doing anything, I’d much rather be here. Everything I need right now is here and that’s back there. Come through. (man grunting) (man yelling) Want that eye. (energetic music) (man screaming) – All right, and after Tim spent two days with us training us, which we had so much fun, we started looking at his funnel to figure out why it wasn’t working as well as they wanted to.

One of the biggest problems was the ads they were using were all showing tons and tons of violence. Which worked good through emails and through banner ads, but when you started trying to go to Facebook and other platforms, they just don’t allow violence in their video ads and things like that. I said, you know, Tim your story’s amazing, let’s try to capture it in a way that’s not violent, showing people attacking each other, but it’s finding a way that’s emotional.

Actually telling your story like why you do what you do, why you’re so passionate about it. And so we set up a camera and we had a chance to capture this story of Tim telling his story about why he does what he does. – One of the presentations I did, they took us all on a really nice cruise. And they had asked me at one point, that a lot of the girls were going off to college in the next year, and everybody’s concerned about their self protection. And would I do an extra class where the dads and the daughters could come and they could go through a training.

I had one girl that came in, and she truly, if you’ve seen the movie Legally Blonde, this was the Reese Witherspoon character in life. I mean totally had the L.A. talk down and she was not happy that Dad had her come and take away two days basically, of the cruise. She went through the course and she did, she did everything. And about two and a half years later, she came in unannounced to one of my New York seminars. And she knew right away, she looked at me, she goes, “Oh you haven’t heard what happened.” I don’t know, what happened?

She had gone to college that following year. She had a dorm room on the first floor of a dorm, they constantly left their door and their windows open. The the guy that attacked her had been casing the place for about two weeks. And he got their patterns down. And he understood that her roommate would spend at least two to three nights a week with her boyfriend in another part of the campus. And one night she woke up literally to a guy on top of her. You know, he was a 230 pound male. And the first thing that popped into her head was the training that she had with us. And she understood that bigger, faster, stronger threat, he’s on top of me, I can’t change this. But I also know, I only have that one chance.

She was able to draw him in, he adjusted and when he did that, he brought his head closer. And that’s when she was able to reach around and attack his eye. And she knew to hold on to him, ’cause he’s much bigger, stronger, because she knew that people violently react away from that type of an injury. So much so, that he pulled her up off the bed and then went down, hit the hardwood floor. When they hit the hardwood floor, she kinda felt his body just kinda relax (inhales deeply) go like that, and that gave her her opportunity to run down the hall and start screaming for help. By the time they came back, the rapist had asphyxiated and died.

They later found out this guy had been going for the last six years to various campuses and doing this type of sexual assaults on women. When I hear from somebody like this girl, or I’ve had various doctors, people that are there just trying to help people who are just completely innocent, it makes it all worth while to do that. Because oftentimes you’re not sure. You know like with her, I didn’t think I reached her at all. I’m gonna literally show you how to injure the human body, break a structure or sensory system in the human body to save your life.

And you’re gonna know physiologically what happens to the body and why you need to be able to do that. And what the ramifications are. And the idea is if the brain has not gone there before, it won’t be there for you. And the perfect example is in sexual assaults. Oftentimes with women, the perpetrator, when they catch him, he’ll have scratches all down his face, all down his face. So you know that she had the ability to reach to there.

All that did was put his skin underneath her fingernails. Now that helps solve her murder. Whereas if she just understood that if she just penetrated the plane into the eye, that would affected a real injury that would have given her a much better chance of surviving that situation. Unfortunately, to get people there and to have them train correctly, I have to give them physical training of how to actually protect themselves when they have no choice. And that involves using the tool of violence. –

Now the last video we’re gonna dive into today was a really fun project we had. It was a product we created called Funnel Graffiti, which was basically these little stickers, you could go and you could put it on a window or on a mirror and map out your funnels before you build them inside of click funnels. And so, we have the product, we’re trying to figure out what’s a fun, exciting way we can make a video for this?

So I called up Brandon, had him come over. I called Jared and Nicole, we sat down, we started brainstorming like, how can we make something fun and exciting to get people to wanna buy this product? And so we started brainstorming like, what are all the different ways people build funnels right now? And one of our, it was kinda funny was, maybe in the shower you’re mapping it out in the shower. And then we kinda took it to the next level, like what if you use the wife’s lipstick and actually mapped it out with lipstick in the shower?

What if the couple’s out to lunch or out to dinner and they’re making it inside their food? We talked about, there’s this place in downtown Boise called Freak Alley which is this big, huge graffiti street. And they rent out different spots, different local artists to come and do new graffiti. And we thought how cool would it be if we could actually like graffiti us doing a funnel there as well.

And it’s kind of a funny story, ’cause we called them up and it just turned out, it happened to be that they, once a year they bring in new artists to go and do graffiti here in Freak Alley, and it was just during that time when they’re about to have new artists come in. They said, well, you can come in, but you got like a one day window. You have to get the whole thing done today, because day the new artist’s coming in with all the new graffiti. And so I called up my buddy Rob and if you haven’t met Rob yet, Rob did all the graffiti design painting in my wrestling room.

He’s done tons of logo design art for us. He’s one of the most amazing, talented designers I’ve ever met in my life. I call him, I said, Rob, I wanna fly you to Boise to come do Funnel Graffiti and literally spray paint funnels on the side of a wall. And obviously he was in. We flew him down and went to Freak Alley to go and create some of the footage for the Funnel Graffiti video. (electronic music) – Okay, I’m ready to hit start. – [Man] Okay. – [Camera Man] Ready to run with this if he’s ready. – [Brandon] All right, so we got the time lapse set up.

We got a bunch of Kessler gear goin’. And then we’ve got other time lapses going. We’re just time lapsing time lapses that are time lapsing those time lapses. It’s getting pretty crazy. (gentle music) (spray can hissing) (spray can hissing) – What my dad would think. Whatever. – That’d be dope. (Russell mumbling) (paint mixers rattling) (Nicole hissing) (Jared yelling) – One of the other things I really wanted to do is I wanted a cop car, thought that’d be really really funny. But apparently it’s harder to get a cop to come and just flip the sirens on than we thought. So, Brandon figured out a way to make that possible. And so we had these cop car lights. (siren wailing) Anyway, it’s amazing and so I’m gonna show you guys the video for the Funnel Graffiti right now. (Nicole yawning) (water splashing) – Jared! – Honey, this is my book funnel.

Funnels are very much like the science, like page one, page two, page three. But it’s the art that gets people to buy. – [Russell Brunson] Hey, this is Russell Brunson and welcome to Webinar Funnel Secrets. Now, I wanna quickly show you how to use webinar funnels to run online events and to sell your products to the masses. And then, at the end of this video, I’m actually gonna give you my top converting webinar funnels for free. But before we do that, I wanna explain where webinar funnels came from, how they work, and how you can use them in your specific business. So, to show you initially, I wanna kinda walk you through the layout of what a webinar funnel looks like. Now, it’s a very simple process.

There’s a webinar registration page where you get somebody to register for the webinar, then there’s a confirmation page, where you thank them for being registered to the webinar. And with the webinar funnel, typically you’re integrating with some third part webinar software, like GoToWebinar or Zoom are the two most popular within the Click Funnels community.

So then, the webinar actually happens over there on the other platform, but what’s nice is, because you can control the registration process and the confirmation process, you’re able to get higher conversions and a lot of times, sell other products and services before people even come to the webinar, as I’ll show you here in a minute.

And as somebody registers for the webinar, and before the webinar starts, what we do is we send them emails and take them to what we call indoctrination pages, where each of these pages gives them a video or some kind of training to get them more excited about what’s gonna be happening on the web class. And we’ll have anywhere from one to three confirmation pages, typically, in a normal webinar funnel. And then after the webinar’s over, then we usually set up a webinar replay page where we post the webinar replay and then we send emails to the people who registered for the webinar to go watch the replay before we take it down. And so, that’s kinda what a basic webinar funnel looks like.

Now, if we were to take this and plug in some actual pages, this is kinda what it would look like. First page, they register, then the confirmation page, here’s the indoctrination page as we send them videos, getting them excited about what’s happening, and then the replay page happens at the end. Okay, so the first question I wanna answer is where do webinars actually come from?

A lot of people have never even heard that word before they get into Click Funnels. And so, a webinar is basically like a web class. It’s like a seminar that’s happening on the internet. Now, in the past, the way that I used to sell a lot of products and services is that I would go to live events like this, I’d stand in front of 1000 or 10000 people and I would teach them something, and then at the end, I would sell my products or my services, and that’s how I made my living for almost a decade.

But then, fast forward to technology started catching up and making things easier, and now I do most of my business, I do it through webinars where I’m actually at my home or sitting here in my office, and there might be 1000, or 2000, 5000 people registered who are watching from all around the world, I do my same webinar presentation, I teach and I train them, and at the end of it, then I can sell them a product or a service. And so, that’s kinda what a webinar is is a live event, but it’s happening on the internet.

And what’s cool about it is that you can do these and make as much money as you would normally from the comfort of your home, as opposed to having to travel, and get hotels, and all sorts of things that go into a traditional live event, okay? Now, some examples of some webinar funnels. These are just some layouts of some of the ones we’ve done in the past, this one where Kaelin, the Lady Boss, talked about Click Funnels.

This is another one of our webinar registration pages, and here’s another one selling, these are all selling software, or trainings, or other things. Webinars have been used to sell pretty much everything on planet Earth, from supplements, training courses, to consulting, to coaching, webinars work good to sell almost any type of product you can think of. So here is how it works.

Okay, the first page, the first step here is to get them to register for the web class, okay? So that’s what the first page in the funnel does. Then the second page after they’ve registered for the web class, then you basically thank them for registering. Sometimes you may make them a special offer, and I’ll talk about that here in a minute. But basically you’re thanking them, and then the last page here inside this funnel is where you post the actual replay, so that’s kinda how a webinar funnel works. It’s very simple and very easy. Okay, so again, here’s the layout, and then there’s one more piece here to talk about, the indoctrination pages.

So, indoctrination pages, these are pages we create that, usually for me, they have videos, or I’m getting people excited about what’s happening in the training, and indoctrinating them, getting them excited. Some people call these presuasion pages, where you’re getting them excited before they actually show up to the web class. So, this is an example of what an indoctrination page may look like.

Now, a lot of people do webinars without these, it just helps to kinda increase show up rate, and it actually increases the people buying something at the end of the webinar because they’ve been indoctrinated from you through these videos here in the sequence, okay? So, what are the products and services that work for webinar funnels? Like I said, all sorts of things. You can use it to sell courses, to sell products, to sell software, I’ve seen people use it to sell supplements, high-end coaching, business practices, services.

Pretty much everything you can dream of can be sold on an actual webinar, okay? So, here’s some of the best practices on how webinar funnel works. So, the first page here, some of the core, most important things. First step, I like to call out, like, who is this webinar actually for? So, you notice in this one it says, “Attention: Entrepreneurs, Small Business Owners, “Online Marketers, and Marketing Agencies,” so they know, like, this is who it’s for. The second step is like having a curiosity-based headline.

The more curiosity you have, the more like someone is to register, the more likely they are to actually show up. In fact, when I have a webinar page that’s not converting very well, the biggest thing I do is I come back and try to increase the curiosity to get people excited. Okay, so curiosity is the key on a registration page. The second page is where we thank them. Now, on the thank you page, we’re not using curiosity nearly as much as a couple other things. The first thing is, we’re thanking them for registering.

The second thing is, whereas the first page is all curiosity, the thank you page is all about excitement, getting them excited for what they’re about to experience. If you get them excited here, they’re more likely to make sure they show up, to put it on their calendar, to make sure they don’t sleep in or forget about it. The more excited you get them here, the more likely they are to show up and participate in the event that you’re putting on. And then the last thing, this isn’t necessary, but a lot of times, what I do on this page is I give them, I make them an offer. We call this a self-liquidating offer.

This is where we tell them, like, hey, in this example here I say, go get a free trial of Click Funnel. Sometimes I might sell a book, or I push ’em into one of my other funnels where I’m selling a lower ticket product. Now, a lot of times, this self-liquidating offer here will actually cover the entire cost of my advertising cost to get people to register for the web class.

Now, that’s kind of a more advanced thing and it’s not necessary, but I wanted to kinda put it out there for those of you guys who may wanna do something like that on your thank you pages. Now, the next page, obviously at this point, like we said before, is that that webinar now is gonna happen in some third party service like GoToWebinar or Zoom, and then after you get the recording of that presentation back, then you can create a replay page, and usually we’ll post that replay page up for 24 to 48 hours, we’ll send emails to everybody who registered and tell them now go watch this video before it disappears, and that gets people to actually go and watch and consume your presentation.

Okay, now, in the past, if you wanted to create a webinar funnel like that, it was complicated, right? You had to get designers, and then webmasters, and programmers, and analytics people, and a whole bunch more. But the good news is that now, because you’re here today here on Click Funnels, you no longer have to do that. We have a better way, we have a faster way. So, instead of doing all that, instead, what you can do is you can just use our share funnels. So, I’m gonna log into Click Funnels real quick right now and show you how easy it is to actually customize any of these webinar pages. All right, now I’m on the exact same page you’re on, so I come right here, I can scroll around, I can look at all the different templates till I find the one that I like the best. So I’m gonna click on this one right now, I click on Select This Funnel button. Now it’s gonna take that entire funnel, it’s gonna copy it into my Click Funnels account, build all the pages, and have ’em all set up there so I can start working on it immediately.

Then I click right here on the View Funnel button. And that fast, you guys, this funnel’s ready for me to start building. On the left hand side here, you’ll see here’s all the different pages we talked about earlier, and so we can go through and edit all these pages and make ’em match my brand. For right now, I’m gonna edit just one to show you how simple and easy it is. I click on edit page. This is gonna take me inside the Click Funnels editor, and this is where the fun begins. I click right here, I pick a word, I can start typing things and editing that fast. Hey, how are you doing? I can go right here and let’s say I don’t like this image.

I can click on the settings, I can change the image for one of my own, I can upload it really quickly or just grab one from here, and boom, that fast, the page is changed. If I don’t like something, I can grab something, I can move it around, I can drag and drop things really easily, if I wanna change the colors, I can. But this is how easy Click Funnels is, you guys. You don’t have to be technical. If you can drag and drop, you can build a funnel here inside of Click Funnels. That’s how simple and how easy it is. When I’m done with that, I can click on the save button, and then I can preview it, and that fast, my funnel is live.

Do you see how simple and how easy this really is? Now, if for some reason I don’t like something, I can come back in here and same thing, I can come back, I can drag things around, I can move ’em around to my heart’s content until the funnel looks exactly the way I want it to, and when I’m done, I click exit and I am done. Okay, so that was step number two, how to customize it. Now, one thing you’ll notice is that each of these pages right here, all three of these three pages that I’m showing you, this is all based on the same template.

All it is is I changed the image, I changed the headline, I changed the color, and that quick, I can make each of these look and match the look and the feel of whatever your brand is. Okay, so the better you get at Click Funnels, the easier it is to customize these things and really make them amazing. Okay, and then the third step is you go out there and you actually launch your webinar funnel, which is the most exciting thing. – Hey, this is Russell Brunson. I want to welcome you to, High Ticket Funnel Secrets. Now, during this training I’m going to show you how to use high ticket application funnels to generate pre-qualified application leads. And then at the end of this video, I’m actually going to give you my top converting application funnels for free. But, before I do that I want to show you exactly what an application funnel is, how it works, and how it can work for your specific business. So, with that said lets jump right in. So, the first thing I want to show you is kinda the diagram of what a High Ticket Funnel looks like. It looks like this. It’s very simple, its just three core pages plus a pop-up.

So, page number one is what we call a reverse squeeze page. This is where you give them some kinda case study, or some kinda information about what it’s like to actually work with you. And they click on the button, and then the next page here on the pop-up then asks, um, they give you their email address. Then, the page after that, your taking they uh, you take them to a spot, where they can actually go apply to work directly with you. And the last page, you thank them for the application, and tell them what’s going to be happening next. It’s a very simple funnel, its super easy to create, and very powerful. Now, this is what it might look like if you were to create one here inside of Click Funnels. Page number 1, you got a case study, and there is a pop-up, for the email address.

Number three, is the application page, where they apply to work with you. And, then number four is the thank you page, where you explain what’s going to be happening next. Okay, so where did application funnels come from? And, these work really good if your in any kind of coaching, or consulting, or selling high ticketed, and expensive things, where typically you get somebody on the phone. Now, in a earlier business that I use to have, we made all of our money, by actually calling all of our leads. And in fact, we built the entire call center, we had 60 full-time sales people who were calling every single lead that came in. Talking to them, qualifying them, trying to figure out who’s a good fit.

Then we would sell them our high ticket products and services, and coaching and consulting. And, it worked well, but it was a lot of overhead, it was a lot of stress, and if anyone has ever worked with 60 full time sales people, you know that, um, that can be kinda stressful. And, so what we did eventually, I ended up shutting down that company down, but I missed selling the really expensive high ticket consulting and coaching, and things like that, that we were doing. And, I tried to figure out how do we change this around and make it easier.

And, so what we did, instead of going in outbound calling every single lead that ever came in, we built these applications funnels, to qualify all of the people, all of the leads, to find out who was the cream of the crop, and then we would only talk to them. And, so we shifted around, these 60 full time sales people, to where we shifted it to using an application funnel. Went down to having just one salesperson. Yes, just one salesperson doing the same amount, of net revenue as 60 full time salespeople where doing before. And, so I’m going to walk you through exactly how this process works, because it will give you so much less stress, so much less anxiety, and the same amount of money as having a huge team of salespeople working for you. Okay, so here is how it actually works.

Step number one, is the very first page in your funnel, you create a case study. Now, a case study about what its like to actually work with you. A success story, um what you do with the results you get for somebody, and you share this success story on the very first page After someone watches that, they think, “Hey man, I want that same case study in my business or my life,” or whatever it is you are selling. And, then the second step in the process then is to have them apply, to actually work directly with you.

Now, what this does is it takes it from you outbound calling and trying to sell every single person, every single leads you have, to which flips it on it’s side, were we do now, it’s a takeaway sell. They’re now presenting and trying to explain to you, through this application, why you should choose them as a client. And, then on the third page, then you tell them what to expect next. Now, for me it was hey, in the next 24 hours, someone is going to call you from my office, we are going to review the application to see if you are a good fit, and that way they know what’s going to happen.

You are going to call them on the phone. And, then you can sell them the product, the service, the coaching, the consulting, whatever it is you’re going to be selling on the phone anyway. Now, like I said, is what this does is it qualifies, it pre-schedules, it gets everybody ready to be able to work with you directly, and it makes your life so much easier. So, next question is like, well, how would you use an application funnel inside of your specific business? Now, every business is different, but there are so many different applications, for ways you can use it. Now, if you are selling coaching or consulting, this model, this funnel has been proven, it’s processed hundreds of millions of dollars, for me and other clients as well.

So this works really well if you’re doing coaching or high end consulting. We’re sure give any kind of high ticket services. Um, if your selling something that is ten, twenty, thirty, fifty, one hundred thousand dollars or more? Um, it works, really well there as well. And, any kind of professional services, mortgages, finances, anything where there typically needs to be a phone call involved in selling the product, or the service, usually because it’s either very specialized, or very expensive, the high ticketed application funnel will work for you.

In fact, almost any business who comes to me saying, “Russell, funnels don’t work for me because you know, I’m selling some of this fifty thousand dollars, nobody’s gonna be able to buy that through a funnel.” I tell them, yes they will. Use a high ticket application funnel, qualify them, and figure out who is the best leads. Have them, have them apply, and tell them why they should be using your product, your services, and then you call and just sign up those people, it makes your job so much easier, and so much better. So, here’s some of the best practices inside of a high ticket application funnel.

Number one, um on the home page, you wanna have some kinda free case study, showing what’s possible if somebody wants to actually work with you, or buy your product, or buy your service. Number two, the goal of this again is to share the case studies so they can see what it’s like to actually work with you. Like, that’s the magic of this, it gives them a glimpse of what it would be like if they had a chance to be, um, to have you as an actually client. And it shows them proof, proof proof. How much proof that you have, um about why, what it is you do, will work for them. Okay, number two, then looks at that, they click on the button and then we have a pop-up that comes up. This pop-up is where we start the application process, where you try to get their email address.

Now, I like having more proof, because as you can see here, one of mine, I have more proof of what it’s like to work with me. Then, at the call to action, give me your email address, to start the application right now. And this way, if they don’t finish the application later, I can send emails and follow up with them, until they actually finish the application, okay. Now, move on to page number three. Now, on this page, guess what I do? I provide more proof. Yes, I want them to understand that working with me, is the greatest decision ever made in their life. So I give them more proof, I have another video here, more success stories, more testimonials, more proof.

Then in that application where I ask them to fill out this form, to tell me why I should, um, why I should work with you. Notice the shift in um, in perspective, here. Instead of, me outbound calling leads, trying to convince them to buy my product, my service. These people were filling out an application. They seen all the proof. They seen these case studies. They seen all these things, now they are trying to tell me, why they should work with me. It changes the entire sales process for you. And then, the last page after they fill out the application. Again, then you tell them, what to expect next. You know, whatever it is, tell them what to expect, and that’s the last step here inside of an high application funnel. – For those just tuning in my name is Russell Brunson, and right now we are answering a whole bunch of the top marketing, sales, funnel building, traffic generating, cash producing questions you guys are asking. And today’s question is about goal setting. So I do I effectively set goals for my life and also for my business? So, this is a great question, and I actually learned a lot of my goal setting principles from one of my buddies Alex Charfen. And it’s funny because he taught them to me in a business context.

And then since then I started use them with my family, I don’t know if you guys know much about me, but I have a beautiful wife and five kids. I was like, how do I set these things for goals for our family as well? And I think a lot of times the problem with us entrepreneurs, is we get excited for our goals, and like I wanna make a bunch of money. And then we’re like whoa running around. And then a lot of the times nothing ever happens. Or we’re running, and we run out of runway really quick. Or we don’t have a good vision of everything we want.

So, you start actually building a company, you start trying to grow a team, you start trying to do something amazing. You have to start looking at things differently. So, what Alex taught me, and that we are doing really well as a family. And we’re incorporating it now more and more, here in our company, inside of ClickFunnels™, is a couple things: So what Alex talked about is that, if you look at a traditional, here’s a football player, right? In fact let’s just say… that nose is horrible. There we go, there’s a football player.

This is a coach. Here’s the whistle so you can see he’s the coach. Okay let’s say it’s Vince Lombardi. The first day Vince Lombardi has a meeting. What does he say the very first of every football season, right. Gentlemen this is a football. Now he’s got his team and here’s all the players down here. And he’s like, I gotta get these players to help me win a Super Bowl. And so the first thing they set as a team is what they call a Hall of Fame goal.

So, what is your Hall of Fame goal? As a football player they all wanna be in the Hall of Fame. So it’s easy. They want to be in the Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame, okay. So for you my question is what’s your Hall of Fame Goal? If you’re doing this for your business, what’s your Hall of Fame Goal for your business? If you’re doing this for your family, what’s your Hall of Fame Goal for your family? I sat down with my wife and my kids and I asked them, I said, what’s our Hall of Fame as a family?

In 10 years from now, 20 years how do we know we succeeded? What is it that that looks like? And so we developed a Hall of Fame Goal as a family. We’ve done it here as a company. Like, what’s our Hall of Fame Goal here as ClickFunnels™? So now that we know, this is where we’re trying to go long-term. Then we gotta step back and say cool, cool. That’s where I can go long term. Number two then, what is our Super Bowl goal? For football players, it’s easy, we wanna win the Super Bowl, right? They all have that. So that’s the goal. Okay, so no we look at this, okay, what’s your Super Bowl goal?

In the next 12 months, what do you wanna accomplish? And one of the big mistakes, and I’m as guilty of this as everybody else, is we set these goals like, I’m gonna make a billion dollars. The problem with that is if you don’t hit it, then everybody fails, right? And so you wanna set realistic goals. You wanna set goals that stretch you pretty far, but you also wanna make them realistic, where you can actually, it’s possible that you could potentially, actually hit those things, right? So you’re team’s like, yes, we’re gonna go for the Super Bowl. So you set a Super Bowl goal. Now you got that, now it’s like okay, for this team, if they wanna win the Super Bowl, what do they need to do this month at practice? And the season? ‘Cause this is like the season, right?

So then you come down, you’re like, okay what do we gotta do this month? Then what do we gotta do this week? And then what do we gotta do each day? And so for you, if you’re setting goals, it’s the same thing. With my family, what we did is we set our Hall of Fame goal, then we set our Super Bowl goal, then we said, okay, to hit our Super Bowl goal, what do we gotta do this month? Then we broke it down, what do we gotta do this week? Then what each day. Then me and my kids and everyone, we use Trello, we have a little checklist.

My kids know every single day, I gotta do these things. And they do all those things every single day, then at the end of the day, they get a reward. And then we have our weekly goals. K, each week we gotta do all these things. And one of them is do the daily tasks list for an entire week, right? And then we have a couple other weekly goals. And then we have our monthly goals. And then we have the Super Bowl goal. So now everyday, we’re coming in, we know exactly what we gotta do, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

And every week, what do we gotta do this week? Boom, boom, boom. Every month? And then boom, boom. And it moves you towards the goal, okay? And so that’s how I do my goal setting here as a family, also in the company. But any entrepreneur, again, the biggest problem we have is all that most of us see is this, the Hall of Fame goal. And we’re like, oh I want that. And we start running. We have no idea where were going.

You have to understand, you have to reverse engineer that. So like, okay cool, that’s awesome, but what’s this, what’s this, what’s this, and what’s this? ‘Cause this is what you’re doing day by day. And sometimes people struggle ’cause they don’t know where they’re going either, they just have these daily tasks lists and they’re going through to do lists like crazy.

And that’s also tough as well because, in fact I bet if I was to ask you guys, like hey, where do you wanna be in 10 years from now? For most of you, let’s say… Let me draw this a little differently so you can kinda see it, but if I said where you gonna be in 10 years from now? You’d be like, okay, here’s me today, here’s me 10 years from now. And I’ll have you explain to me. And you’ll be like, I’m gonna be doing this and this and this and you have a list of all the stuff you’re gonna be doing. And I’m like, cool what’s your to do list today? And you’re like, here’s my list of stuff I gotta do today. And I’m like, okay does anything on this list here have anything to do with this list right here? And 99% of you guys would be like, there’s not a single thing on today’s to do list that gets me even a step closer to that.

Yet that’s what we’re doing every single day. And the next day we got our new list and we got our new list, and we got the things we’re doing, but we never actually are focused on things that get us to that. But going through this process of like, okay here’s our Hall of Fame, boom. Now let’s back step this, okay what’s our Super Bowl, boom. Now let’s back step it, what’s our monthly?

– Hey, this is Russell Brunson and welcome to Tripwire Funnel Secrets. Now, during this presentation, I’m going to show you how to use simple Tripwire Funnels to get people to actually pay you to become a customer. And then at the end of this presentation, I’ll actually give you my top converting Tripwire Funnels for free. But first, I want to explain to you what a Tripwire Funnel is, how it works, and how it can work for your specific business.

Now, the first step here I want to show you kind of the layout of what a Tripwire Funnel looks like. It looks kind of like this. This is kind of a wireframe of what it looks like. The first page is what we call Two Step Sales Page. What that means is, usually with the Tripwire product, as you’ll see here in a moment, is usually a lower ticket product. Something that’s not very expensive, so it doesn’t need a lot of explaining to be able to sell it.

So, here on this page we have either video or some text or something to explain what the offer is. And then the order form is right there. And it’s a two step order form, where Step One we ask where to ship the product and then Step Number Two is then we ask for their credit card. After someone buys them, we take them to the second page, which is called an ‘OTO’ page, or a One Time Offer. Here we make them a special offer.

They’re able to click a button, do a 1-click upsell, so they don’t have to re-put in their credit card they just click a button, it’ll bill their card again and then they are taken to a thank you page or Offer Wall Page where you thank them for their order you give them access to it and then you can push them to other funnels other products or services if you have them, as well. So, that’s kind of the layout of what the page looks like. If you plug in an actual template it may look something kind of like this. So, that’s what a basic two-step Tripwire Funnel looks like.

Now, the question a lot of people ask me is ‘Where did Tripwire Funnels come from?’ ‘What does that mean?’ ‘Where did that word even come from? It sounds so weird?’ And the term was kind of coined by one of my friends his name is Perry Belcher. And Perry runs a lot of really successful companies and a little while ago I was actually having a discussion with him and he talked to me and he said, “Russell, I figured out a new way where I can actually get people to pay me to become my customers.” And I was like, that sounds amazing.

How do you do that? And he said, “Well, if you think back in the past, there’s a company called Columbia House I think most people have been, you know, have lived at least twenty years on this Earth remember Columbia House. They used to have these offers where you get eight CDs or twelve cassettes for a penny. And this was a Tripwire offer where the offer is so good, so irresistible, the people have to buy it. And then, afterwards they’re more likely to become customers if you give them a good experience.

With Columbia House, you’d buy this and afterwards they start billing you thirty dollars a month, or whatever, for a CD of the month. And so that’s kind of how it worked back in the day. Now, Perry had a company at the time that was selling a survival membership site. And as they tried to sell access to the survival membership site, they did okay but nothing great until they created a Tripwire Funnel. And this was the very first Tripwire Funnel that I was aware. And what they did is they started making these really cool credit card knives. It was the knife that looked like a credit card that you could hide in your wallet and you could pull it out and you could fold it up and turn it into an actual knife. And so they started selling this card for free they just charged people shipping and handling. Right?

So, you come here, you pay like, I can’t remember, $2.95 or $3.95 shipping and handling to buy the product, okay? And again, this is is the Tripwire offer. It’s such a good offer you have to buy it. And then after you buy it, then the next page is you have the upsell where you sell the thing you’re actually trying to sell. Okay? So, with Perry, they were trying to sell access to the membership site and so after you ask them to buy a credit card the upsell said ‘Hey, I’ll give you another cool knife if you join my membership site.’ And I think they charge $10 a month to have access to the membership site. And so they’ll click the button and then they automatically are billed the second thing.

Okay? And so, the power behind a Tripwire is you create an offer that’s so good on the first step and usually that step is where they are actually putting their credit card in and that’s the hardest most difficult decision you make an offer that’s a complete no brainer they put in their credit card, they buy that thing and then the next page, which is usually a more difficult sell or more expensive product or something like that, but they don’t have to go and retype in their credit card and remake a big commitment, they just have to click yes and it’ll bill their credit card.And that’s how you can sell the things on the backend.

So, that’s kind of how a Tripwire Funnel works. And I’ll show you some more examples here as we go through it. So, here’s how it works. Step number 1, you have to create an irresistible Tripwire offer and I’ll show you a couple of ideas here in a second. But an offer that is so good that it is a no brainer where someone says ‘I’m gonna go find my wallet, grab my credit card because I need to have this thing.’ Okay.

Then after someone’s bought that, then the next step you upgrade them with the core offer the main thing you do wanna actually sell. Okay, so the example I was selling $197 training course my Tripwire here was the free book, they just cover the shipping and handling and then the upsell was $197 training course. And then the thank you page, thank them for buying and give them access to whatever they bought. Okay? So, that’s basically how a Tripwire Funnel works. It’s very simple and very easy. Here’s a couple examples on the left hand side. It says paying June, he did a free book offer similar to mine.

On the right hand side is a company called FiberFix we helped do a Tripwire Funnel for and theirs wasn’t a free plus shipping but it was a severely discounted price on their core product, FiberFix. Same kind of thing, you get somebody in there to say yes on the no brainer offer and then the upsell becomes a lot easier to get. Okay? So, what do you have inside of your company that you can use as a Tripwire Funnel? Okay? There’s a whole bunch of different things a lot of people use books and they use product samples. You have supplements you can use samples or supplements.

You can use CDs you can use DVDs you can do USB drives, you could do white papers. There’s a whole bunch of different things you can do. Just think about inside of your company what’s something you could sell that’s such a no brainer that someone’s gonna buy it. And then, you know, if someone buys that, they’re more likely to buy the next thing. Perry Belcher, the guy I told you about earlier, he actually used to own a suit company where he sold custom suits that were 2, 3, 4, 5 thousand dollars or more and it was hardest to go and sell custom suits so he thought, okay, someone who is buying this suit, what else would they want?

He said, well, people that wear suits, they also wear cuff links. So, he made these really good, these really cool cuff links, had them for low ticket and those became the Tripwire and everybody bought the cuff links and they up-sold them the custom suits. Okay? So, you just kind of have to reverse engineer your company. What is something your dream customer would actually want and then you create that as the Tripwire product you’re gonna sell through a Tripwire Funnel. Okay? Alright. So, here’s some of the best practices of the Tripwire Funnel. First page, you need to make them a low ticket Tripwire offer.

Something that is so irresistible. And it doesn’t have to be free but a lot of times we do make them free and we charge shipping. Or, you can make them, you know, a paid product with free shipping. Or it can just be an irresistible offer that’s so good that people have to buy it. Right? A lot of times, in fact, most times you don’t typically make money on this offer, but what’s happening is you’re getting somebody to go and find their wallet and pull their credit card out which is the hardest part about online marketing. And they’ve done that, they bought it.

That’s kind of the first step. If you look at the two-step order form here on the page Step number 1, they put in their shipping address. Then in Step 2, it asks for their credit card information and this two-step shipping process is something that we kind of customized here inside of ClickFunnels™ makes it so easy to do. You click a button and you got a two-step order form that fast. Okay? So, that’s kind of the best practices on the first page. And then again, the last goal here is to get their credit card.

Then after you get their credit card, then you take them to step number 2, which is where you actually make them a special offer for the main thing you wanted to sell. Okay? So, in this example, I really wanted someone to buy this $197 training course but it’s much more difficult to sell that. I’d have to do, who knows, a forty-five minute presentation to sell the $197 course, but instead I did the free book and then the up-sell’s like he got the book, I have this special offer for you where you can get this course that’s normally $2000, you can get it for just one payment at $197. So, I gave them a really good offer on this page, okay? So, I make them a special offer, and the power behind this is what we call one-click upsell. As soon as someone clicks on that button, it automatically bills their credit card.

They don’t have to go retype it in. They just have to say, you know what, yes, I do want that, they click on that button, bills their credit card and it take them to the next page inside the funnel. Then the third page is just the thank you page. You thank them for buying. If it’s something that is digitally bought, you give them access to it. If not, you can tell them what to expect, when it’s gonna come out and those type of things. And that’s how those pages work. Okay? Again, you give them access to the program.
