What’s up, everybody? This is Russell Brunson. Welcome to the marketing Secrets podcast today. I want to share with you a message about the fact that I finally I think I understand how some of you guys feel.

So the big question is this how our entrepreneurs like us who didn’t cheat and take on venture capital for spending money from our own Pockets.

How do we Market in a way that lets us get our products and our services in the things that we believe in out to the world and yet still remain profitable. That is the question and this podcast give you the answer.

My name is Russell Brunson and welcome to marketing secrets. Alright everybody. So I’m excited heading into the office today for a lot of fun. We’re gonna be working on getting mother funnel. I’ve finally too much other amazing stuff. So I’m really excited. But I had I had an epiphany this morning and I need to share with you guys because I think I finally understand how some people feel so I’ve been publishing for a long long long long long long long time, right?

I started my internet marketing business probably 15 some odd years ago now and in that time, I have published a bajillion podcasts and videos until seminars and webinars and Summits and events and all sorts of stuff. Right? And so for me, I like I think I lost my empathy for people who struggle when it’s like publishing stuff. I might just do it just go out there just do it just push record and talk and blah blah blah, right like because that’s what I’ve been but I do and I forgot like I forgot what it’s like to go through the vulnerability and the fear and the stress and all the things that come with the putting your message out there and And fun and some you guys know recently.

I launched another podcast and it’s something different I’ve ever done before it’s not related to marketing or sales or business or anything of that. It’s related to my religion and my faith and my beliefs and it’s funny because I was like, oh this is gonna be this is gonna be really fun and really easy. I’m just gonna go and just start just click record and start talking right? They went at night. I started to do it and it was way different.

So the podcast is those who don’t know what it would say Book of Mormon challenge.com. And so I recorded the first two episodes and probably 9 or so months ago and then they sat there because you like nervous to put them out there and I anyway and then the third one was easier that we came out fast in the fourth one, which I recorded yesterday.

I literally spent And a long time I spent two or three weeks like preparing for and getting nervous right the outline and rewriting it right in the stories on then rewriting and like and I was like man, why am I why am I so nervous about it’s like I was so nervous. It took me almost three weeks to publish it and then last night finally I was like I said Sunday, so I had to get spiritual experience all day and I was like, okay, I’m in the I’m in the zone. I’m going to do it to spend another two or three hours like working on the podcast outline an interview and getting all things put together.

ClickFunnels™ Marketing Secret: I started recording at about 11:15 at night.

I started recording it and and Iris 47 minutes into the recording and I was just like, I don’t like this. I hate every word ever said I don’t like how I said it. I don’t like all these things and so I stopped it deleted it and I was like, oh my God, I was 47 minutes. Now Miz out after midnight. I’m like all tired and like but I need to redo it because I like I feel like now I understand the stories better I did so I clicked record again. I spend another hour over now recording the next podcast episode and then I sent my brother to go and edit and get it all. I need to go to the live and then like all morning long and second guessing like oh maybe I should again. I told that story wrong.

I really have you know, the like all these things right and like oh the ending when I did this, I don’t like I did it and like and then also this morning as like I bet you this is how other people feel like maybe the reason why I’m doing this exercise amongst other reasons was to get empathy for people in working with when you’re nervous. You’re scared about publishing and it’s just interesting.

So I wanted to share this because first off I feel like I’ve empathy now for a lot of you guys for the first time in like a decade, so hopefully that’s good. Right? I get it now I get the fear and the nervousness that goes behind putting yourself out there, especially with something you love and you believe about you care about you want other people to to to listen and to be put into and you really honestly want to serve people write my I totally completely understand that especially especially now, so I guess my message for you guys today is is kind of twofold is number one. I have empathy for you understand the fear of Putting yourself out there and number two.

I’m publishing that episode today and I wanted my company ahead and tweak each agent. No, I’m just gonna put it out there because good enough is good enough, right a lot of us never get started because we’re so nervous about it not being good enough and on the problem with that is then we never get started and the the goal of what we do as authors and speakers as coaches as experts as whatever you want to call yourself.

Somebody’s trying to change the world in your own little way is to get things out there. And one thing I know for sure is the by not posting it not putting it out there. It’s not going to change it was like that’s the one thing I am positive of by putting it out there. It has the ability at least to affect somebody maybe it wasn’t as good or thought out or as you know, whatever whatever might be but it’s important to get out there because that’s the only way you can actually touch and affect and help conserve somebody else and that’s the whole reason behind what we do and why we do what we do right?

And so hopefully it gives you encouragement to know that even Russell gets scared sometimes. And even Russell second-guesses himself and gets nervous, but when all comes down to it, you just kind of Click publish just put it out there. So hopefully that gives some inspiration somebody out there who’s who’s nervous today?

And hopefully it gives you permission to do it. So there you go, you know how permission to do it just go and do it just click record on the podcast or on the video or on the blog click post or whatever. The thing is that you’re doing to publish your message just go out there and just push it just push the button and we’re how imperfect it sees no matter how many flaws you see know how many things you know, you could’ve done it better no matter whatever.

That is. It’s just time to put it out there and just let the world have what you got and you have full the other full ability to re-record it in the future. I’m on podcast episode now probably I don’t know five or six hundred. I’ve no idea and I probably shared the same message multiple times over the last five or six years. I’ve done this and hopefully some gets better and it’s okay to republish the same thing later with your new lens of understanding and What you gained in the in the process of growing and learning?

The fun thing about you is you approached me at the funnel hacking live with this crazy situation where you just seen as raised over a million dollars from operation for operation Underground Railroad. We did this documentary and you’re sitting there going, you know, Dave there’s over 3,000 people here a lot of them successful people over a hundred people watch cross the stage each and over a hundred basically received a to comical plaque meaning they sold over a million dollars in a funnel.

We have 15 of them who sold over 10 million dollars and funnel. There’s a ton of Revenue that’s being generated out of this group. And again, I In there as we were talking about this with the idea as far as you know, if you figured you had 3,000 people there and if the average just highs and lows just make it simple math here was $100,000 from a business on the highs and lows here. You know, you’re looking at what’s a three billion dollars or some crazy situation.

I mean, it’s just insane amount of money that’s being generated and yet at the same time, one of the things you made mention of is, you know, Dave a lot of people these entrepreneurs are paying a lot in taxes and they don’t need to and I was like, I’m fascinated by that because I am of the opinion I would like to pay as little of my share of taxes as I possibly can. I don’t mind paying my fair share just want it to be small, but I think the key to it here is what are some of the things I mean again, you’ve had the opportunity of A little background on Shawn. I mean I’ll let you tell your own background and I know your stories are your better telling it. So tell people is far some of your background Stars your kids your situation.

And yeah, I do it the next minute and a half to two minutes here. So I want to die so soon.Yeah, so when I went up to you and again, thank you for letting me interrupt your dinner. I literally walked up to you and and made myself comfortable right next to you while you’re chomping away and I felt I still feel bad for the so thank you for letting me be your space, but got a chance to meet your wife and your kids and you know, you’ve got a great family. And so that kind of got me talking about my family and my wife and and foster care and adoption and what they’re doing with operation Underground Railroad, and it was just so exciting for me to be part of this community. You know, I was just so excited to be in the mix and funnel hacking live and to see these entrepreneurs and what they’re capable of doing and then all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Oh my gosh. I wonder how much tax money. Is going out the door that we could be giving and handing over to these people and you know, naturally I was talking to my wife during funnel had during that week. I brought my whole family. I made it a family vacation took the family to Disney and had a blast but you know, I was talking to my wife about just how awesome it was how they were over 200, you know members of ClickFunnels™ have walked across the stage.

I’m a I’m a part of wake up Warrior Garrett Jai White’s program and you know love him to death and love what Warriors all about and got to see a lot of my warrior Brothers walk across the stage and Garrett got a 10x award and we were all excited about that. And you know, I’m sitting there he came up to me and he hugged me and he’s like, how are you doing what’s going on? And while I’m talking to him, you know, Brandon and Kaylin Poland walk up and so I’m just like in awe. It’s like I’ve gone to Mecca, you know, but I’m just like talk to my wife about it and she goes No, I bet there are a lot of entrepreneurs that would want to know how they could kind of divert a lot of the tax dollars that they’re spending into other charitable causes kind of like what we’re doing and I thought man, why is she always right?

So that’s kind of what prompted me to come and plop myself down next to you and start talking about it. I you know, like I told you when I was there my wife and I we’ve been married since o9 and prior to that. Let me take a step back prior to that. I was a diver I trained for the Olympic team and I was at eight years old started training with the college coach at Stanford University and just for whatever reason I excelled at this sport love the sport.

And so when I was 14, I was shipped off away from home to go train with the Olympic team with Greg Louganis and the whole Olympic team down in Mission Viejo, California, and you know got to travel the world loved it, but what I what I learned through That whole life that whole life of being an athlete at that level was had a model people. You know, I remember modeling Greg Louganis actually watching him do a dive and then running up on the diving board and trying to copy exactly what he was doing.

And so that’s kind of how I grew up was just modeling these athletes and I got to be one of the best in the world by doing that by just modeling people which is funny because that’s kind of what Russell keeps preaching and talking is, you know, don’t try to reinvent the wheel here copy or model what works and apply it to your life and apply it to what you’re doing. So it’s just an odd interesting fact that kind of fits hand in glove.

So after my diving career after Atlanta in 96 had an awesome career travel around the world competed for the US and the national team after Atlanta I decided I wanted to make a bunch of money, right? So I jumped into business and I was living in Austin Texas training with the the Olympic coach. University of Texas here and so naturally the next thing to do was to go work for Dell computer.

So I jumped into Dell computer started working as a sales manager made a bunch of money there. They were you know throwing stock options at us like crazy and the stock was splitting every year and so that’s kind of how we built our wealth was through stock and got tired of working and just really burned out. I was exhausted. We were working 70 hours a week and had no time for fun. We’re making good money, but no time to really enjoy life. And so I decided to retire at the ripe old age of 29 and sold everyone everyone else does too. I mean everyone retires at 29.

Yeah, but it was you know, what was funny is in Austin Texas at the time that was the thing to do if you were a delyan are quote unquote Delian are that’s just what you did and so it was this, you know, what wasn’t even that I wanted to really quit or retire. It was just what everybody did which is kind of interesting how we just follow people.

That regard so retired had fun traveled around went water skiing all the time. And at the end of the summer. I got a phone call from a friend of mine and she was like, you know, Hey, listen, I’m starting this. I’m working with this startup company. This mall is company called Mall.com a new.com company and at the time dot coms were just exploding they were they were startup companies everywhere in Austin, Texas.

So I jumped in and started helping them and within a year we had created this really cool site. It was a shopping mall kind of one of the very first Universal shopping cart Technologies online, you know at the time Amazon was just selling books and Priceline was in the travel space and but nobody had kind of put them all together. So that was kind of our Niche we put them all together. And what was unique was you could throw everything in your shopping cart and check-out one time and what we did was we took the money and we threw it in an escrow account.

And we would pay out those anchor stores 30 days later. So we were able to float this cash for 30 days earning interest on all that money. And of course that caught the attention of a lot of venture capital firms in Austin time, and we were we were gobbled up. We had a liquidity event. They bought us out and we were sitting there with a big pile of cash and as you know, 29 30 year old entrepreneurs thinking that we own the world that we were masters of our universe we decided to go all in with the next company and so we we pushed it all into the center of the table and we decided that we were going to you know, 10x our returns and we started a second company second company was a great idea.

Unfortunately horrible timing. That’s when the.com bubble burst and you know rather than doing the smart thing as entrepreneurs and business owners and and taking our chips off the table and shutting the company down we decided to forego Salaries and pay our employees only to let him go six or eight months later, you know what every employee, you know, every entrepreneur goes through at some point.

Anyway, so learned a lot, you know made a bunch of money and then burned it all the ground and you know started talking to some friends of mine Adele who they had also invested in dot-coms, but they didn’t lose any money and so I got really interested in what they were doing and I just started following them around and learning as much as I could from them. I had friends that were in the diving World previous that were now hedge fund managers and it seeing tons of success in the hedge fund world and just was really well connected because of my diving because of those days in diving so fast forward to you know, after the.com bubble burst and the next big thing is real estate.

So I decide I’m going to jump into real estate and of course over the next few years real estate starts gaining in value and everything looks good until In eight hits and then we have the real estate bubble popping again. We lost everything and so I noticed these Cycles happening where there were these build and burn cycles and I got really interested in how my friends who were really doing. Well how they didn’t lose the money but everybody else did and simultaneously my wife and I Ellen we got married in 2009 and you know because of my diving career because my coaching days I always wanted to be a dad.

I always thought I’d be a just an awesome dad because I was a really good coach as a diving coach. And so we got married and we got pregnant right away and the whole family was all excited and three months later. We ended up having a miscarriage and we lost our child and it really sent us both kind of into a tailspin where we got severely depressed. We didn’t know how to function and my business went under, you know, just a horrible pit, but out of that pit out of that. Pain something really interesting happened.

We met some friends through my wife’s best friend from high school. We were introduced to them and really cool couple they had kids of their own and they were going through foster care licensing. They were going to get their license to actually take on more kids, even though they had their own kids and we started talking to him about the process and they said, you know, you never know.

Maybe this is what God’s calling you to do. Maybe you should try and get your foster care license and to you know, help some of these kids and so we reluctantly kind of started that process and typically the process is about 30 days. You know, you got to get a background check and FBI background check you got to do a financial check.

You’ve got to have your home inspected and the whole process takes about 30 days. Well, it took us about a year because we were so afraid of what we were getting into we just you know is one of those things Dave where you literally get you almost Have to make a commitment first to doing something just to get enough courage to take the first step and and out of that process. Then you start to get more clear and and become more certain on on your direction and where you’re going because we had no idea what we were getting into.

You know, it was literally we were feeling horrible time. We were still kind of nursing our own wounds and yet we wanted to grow this family had no idea what we were getting into when we just took the, you know leap of faith and did it but out of that what happened was as soon as we got licensed we got these two little girls Chiquita and Sarah and they were the two youngest siblings of a group of six kids and two adults.

They had been living in a one-bedroom apartment complex and Mom and Dad were hooked on drugs there was you know right now today there are twenty-eight hundred kids in Central Texas in Austin that are in the foster care system. And most of that is driven by drug use, you know meth Is kind of the drug of choice here for some reason so their parents were hooked on meth that CPS took all of the kids and took them to a group home and there weren’t enough beds in the group home for the two youngest ones. So we got the phone call and that changed everything for us. We instantly knew this is what we were meant to do.

And so we focused and committed that we were going to become foster parents for the long term. We were going to be adopting kids. And since that time we have fostered seven girls all girls for some reason. I think you know God’s playing a trick on me or something but wonderful girls and we’ve adopted to in that process and that’s kind of where my wife and I spend all of our time and energy and effort and money is on these kids.

And so we started, you know, we started Our Own Foundation we call it’s the kind foundation and it’s focused on supporting and Providing resources to foster parents and and foster kids that are struggling and to help kids there.

You know, there are a lot of kids in the foster care system at least here in Texas that are what we call aging out of the system. They’re turning 18 and what happens to kids when they turn 18 in foster care is the government literally kicks him to the curb. They become homeless at that point.

And so there’s a huge void to help kids and and not save them but get them educated with enough skill sets and in shift their mindset to where they can really believe that their that they matter that they have value. They can actually give back and contribute to society.

You know, these kids have been through so much trauma that it makes it really difficult as a parent especially to to help these kids and With them where they’re at because you know my daughter. Can you I know one of the most things do your extremely passionate about obviously is going to be foster kids. Hmm. And I know as we were talking earlier it was this whole idea as far as utilizing tax dollars or opportunities that exist out there to really fund your passions and those things whether it was Operation Underground Railroad, which obviously ClickFunnels™ does.

We also do World teacher aide and there’s different things that we have interest in for you obviously the most you want to be a dad and that connection would be in a dad and being involved with foster kids is what your passion is that now is then lead you into a situation to where professionally you’re going about trying to find different ways of helping others with financial resources to utilize tax codes and things to then turn around and actually fund the whatever their passion projects. Is that correct?

Yes. Oh I’ve been in you Financial services for 17 years now as Financial educator and coach and consultant show clients various strategies and you know being a foster parent and wanting being so passionate about these kids and wanting to help them out. It really forced us. We had a big problem. We were like, okay, how do we fund this?

You know, it’s one thing to be passionate about something. It’s another thing to be able to create the resources that you need to actually pull it off, you know, and it’s interesting because I love the again. I love the ClickFunnels™ community because the mission and purpose of ClickFunnels™ is so clear. It’s to to create a business that matters so that you can put a dent in the world so that you can really make an impact in some way.

And so we became passionate about not just how do we make the money to do this?But how do we keep the money? How do we grow the money and how do we direct the money in a more private more chair? The way so that we can fund our foundation and obviously this isn’t a tax this disclaimer.

This has nothing but I know legal advice tax advice Financial advice at all. But at the same time, I think you’re as you made mention as far as the click most Community. There’s a lot of people who are in your same situation sure who are building a business to then fun some other things. So yeah, what is it that you guys are then doing? The answer is a charitable remainder trust. Is it? I mean what what are you doing?

What are in the next three or four minutes your get share some ideas. What are some tips and things that they could do in either restructuring their entity or doing things that they could then take a look at I’m going to use these tax dollars legally sure to then fun.

Whatever my passion is. Yeah, so it’s interesting again. You know, I’m not a CPA. I’m not a tax attorney. I use a team of people to take care of that for me into structure all this for me, but you know what what I discovered along the way was that there is a trust in Foundation structure that is Dap You know, there’s there’s a really strange anomaly in real quickly. I’ll go through it. It’s this this rule is called the rule of 97. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of this have you ever heard of the role in 97 another Rule of 72 but 97.

Okay, 97 really 97. It goes like this in eighteen ninety seven, ninety seven percent of American citizens were employers. They owned businesses. They were butchers Bakers Farmers shopkeepers, whatever and and they created their own wealth only three percent of citizens at the time were employees.

They worked as apprentices or helpers make sense. Well in 1913 when the tax code was written it was written specifically for employers. There were two systems that they produced one was for the employer for the one that was creating the wealth. The other was for the employee the the worker and the employee got the system called the 1040 tax system.

The employer got the tax system called the B1 tax system just two different tax systems. It’s that simple well a hundred years later in 1997. Those numbers flip-flopped and only 3% of Americans were employers owned a business were entrepreneurs are investors 97% of us were employees. We worked for other people and so that shifted the nature of Taxation in our country and we lost a lot of these rules and principles that are true for business owners and entrepreneurs for example that you know, it’s not the taxes a bad thing. The tax actually goes to help Society, right? We goes to building roads and bridges and hospitals and education and all this good stuff, but you hit the nail right on the head.

What is your fair share? What is your fair share of tax and how many of us especially as business owners and entrepreneurs don’t realize that we’re paying way more than our fair share and that we actually have the opportunity to direct those tax dollars into what we’re passionate about. Yes. You want to pay some tax. Yes, you want to fund your fair share, but the rest of the money you get to direct and in your through the tax system through the tax code, you can direct it into whatever it is that you’re passionate about your charitable causes.

And so that’s what I’ve been teaching for the last cash. It’s been a long time now, but literally just just showing people what my wife and I have done ourselves and showing people how they can do the same thing is just through their business creating a business that matters something that if your if your goal is really to give back in a more meaningful way. Let’s go ahead and set it up like that now so you can actually do what you’re wanting to do. I love that. Can you give Couple of examples of people have done it and what type of numbers yeah. So I just it’s funny you mention that I just got off the phone with some clients of mine Nicole and Jason Brunner they live in Mississippi and they’re in their 20s get this this she’s 27.

He’s 29. They graduated from Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. All right, when they graduated Jason started a an AC company and their first year in business, they made $79,000 and they thought they had the World by the tail they were like super ecstatic right out of the gate. They’re making almost 80 grand what they realized real quickly was the 80,000 came in but 80,000 went right out the door. They didn’t really save it. They didn’t have anything left over. Well the next year they made 150 same story a hundred and fifty in a hundred and fifty out. It was gone fast forward four years later today.

They’re pulling in one point. A million dollars in their business. Wow, their tax bill is four hundred thousand dollars this year. Now Jason and Nicole happened to be foster parents to they just took on a little girl. She’s 10 years old saddest story in the world. They rescued her from a house where she was literally tied up and left in the closet.

So, you know, that’s the mindset of these people they want to help these kids and yet they’re having to write these huge quarterly tax checks and it’s bleeding them dry and they know that there’s so much good they could be doing with those dollars if they were able to redirect it. So real simply we just set him up with the trusts and Foundation structure. They’re able to keep those tax dollars and direct them into their private foundation and help more kids in the in the Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi area.

That’s also without that how much would they paid in taxes? Just bought 400 Grand this year and who knows what next year as their business grows. You know, how much are they able to put into their? In this situation a hundred percent of that. Wow, so I know Jax has raised its all the Jacks. They that 40,000 they would have paid they actually are able to put into Foundation.

You know, it’s funny at funnel hacking live. All the warrior brothers were sitting there talking in their bunch of you know, couple of guys had just walked across the stage and I was jealous. You know, I’m like man I should have been me and then I was talking to one of the brothers and he’s like, well show me your funnel and I showed him my final he’s like, it looks good and he’s like, I’m like, how do I help more people? And he’s like, how do you help more people? You build a funnel?

That’s how you help more people and I’m like, what are you talking about? And he’s like you build a funnel. because if you don’t have a place where people can go and land and see and do what good are you going to be? How are you going to lead them?

You know when Warrior we talk a lot about leading people that you first have to be able to lead yourself before you can lead your family before you can lead your community and that you first have to live by the principles before you can lead them.

And so it’s live it, you know, learn it live it and then lead it and so in order for us to lead anything we first have to live this stuff. So I’m living this stuff right now the way to lead people build what you do with your funnel.

They welcome back. This is gonna be one of those fun exciting podcast where I get the opportunity of introducing to your guy who’s been absolutely crushing it at the same time. He’s had a ton of crazy struggles ups and downs in his life and it’s going through some things right now that most of you guys don’t understand that once you’ve had success.

What are the problems and things that happen next? So what I want to do right now is introduce you guys to a jade Roma AJ, welcome to the show.

Thanks for having me David excited to be here. This is gonna be a lot of fun. So AJ is one of R2 comma Club winners, but not only one of R2 comma Club winners. He’s one who got a done within five months. So I mean just absolutely crushed it AJ.

I get as we were kind of talking here beforehand. I have the option of listen to your story that you’ve got online there man, you’ve had A roller coaster of entrepreneurial experiences and if you don’t mind just take a take a minute or so here and kind of share with people kind of where you been where you’re at and then I want to really can’t talk about where you’re at and where we’re going next. Awesome. Yeah, they’ll definitely I’m excited about this should be fun, I guess.

So as you mention I hit to Coma Club within five months, but I’ve always been kind of a Maverick when it comes to starting businesses. I’ve taken risk my entire life all the way down to when I was flipping houses when I was 19 years old with no money, but you know, my quick story in 60 seconds is a few years back. I used to own a restaurant and it was called CiCi’s Pizza and I it was a franchise 50 employees and it drove me nuts. I was sick to my stomach with that the bills and I ended up having a tumor that doctors couldn’t explain why I had so it was benign think God, but it really gave me a perspective. It made me think. What can I do? That’s not gonna stress me out as much so I went to internet marketing.

And my journey really is ups and downs. I mean, it’s never been straight kind of like a rocket launch to success and you know, I found myself doing e-commerce a about two two and a half years ago. And I did really well with one store getting to 1.5 million in eight months selling very expensive products and high ticket Drop Shipping once I did that I sold it never really thought about it again and I was called on to help somebody promote their course doing high-ticket sales in the same space.

I was in he was teaching what I’m teaching now, but I he wanted me to do all his sales from so I did I hope to make like a million dollars in a few months and then I ventured out my own so I started a company called seven-figure skills. That’s where I’m at now and that’s what this company allowed me to kind of Hit the to come across recently there.

That’s crazy. I mean, I appreciate you being so quick about the whole thing. I mean, it’s been a lot of fun just kind of hearing your story and go It’s know you better AJ. So again, CiCi’s Pizza get a pizza chain down in the South going from basically a franchise model totally a physical retail type of store to go and completely online Drop Shipping and Drop Shipping high-end product. You mean idea as far as when you’re saying Drop Shipping high-end products what type of things we looking at? Okay, so I kind of revolve my mindset is if I can I would be happy if I can make a living selling one product today. So I thought to myself what could that be like so I focus on selling products that cost $500 or more and products that are made are products that you need on a day to day basis think Furniture think office equipment Furniture, like maybe a standing desk or Even I’ve sold high in paper shredders, like commercial paper shredders that cost.

I mean whatever I can get my hands on where I can get some decent margins and I can sell for a few thousand bucks. That’s what I want to draw option.

That’s awesome. So right now you’ve got a company based called seven-figure skills where you’re teaching people how to do this. I think one of the things you just made mention is if I could sell something just one product a day or one one item a day. What would it be one of these you made mention of is the fact from a high-ticket sales standpoint.

You’ve been over $100,000 in a webinar from five people. Yeah, that might end up being the climax of this interview if any get hold off on that one. So tell me what I want to talk about right now though is that’s kind of the bait and hook there. Everybody got stick on to the very end here how he did that but again AJ, I think the part that you and I were kind of alluding to when we first got started talking here today and that was this concept of as far as okay. Now, you’ve hit the 2 comma club and that’s where everything is.

That’s the Holy Grail want to hit that and then life will be easy then it’ll all turn. Now and everything will be great.

Obviously when you hit that other issues happen. So what are some of the things you’re going through right now?That would be a benefit to our listeners. Absolutely.

So for anyone who’s listening I was right in your shoes guys listening in trying to sponge any any information I can to make as much money as I possibly can within the shortest period of time and unfortunately, we I was looking for something that’s very common among entrepreneurs, which is something that required the path of least resistance.

And another thing called the expediency factor and those two are common traits I think with in common with an entrepreneurs, especially if you have ADHD or like I do so the problem is everyone’s fixated on getting to to Coma Club making a million bucks or seven figures but unfortunately, like kinda the saying goes More Money More Problems.

What I did is I actually exclusively singularly focused on making as much money as possible and I got Really good at it and unfortunately, I didn’t really consider the building the foundation the support the Fulfillment and delivering on what I was promising especially at a high level. I brought in so many members like you mentioned five months into to the to Coma club and I kept brushing off the important things the that really create a company. I was more concerned about like hitting my cells each and each and every month.

So the for me that what happened is I ended up refunding a hundred thousand dollars in Revenue to customers mainly about six or seven High ticket customers. I was charging about twenty twenty-five thousand dollars a piece for for high level coaching and I could have kept that money and figured out a way to help them but I felt that it was a disservice to them in with my brand reputation as a company if I kept their money and try to you know, just patch up some This is that really shouldn’t have been patched up to begin with they should have been delivered a high-quality.

So really, I think that people need to step back as I am right now, by the way, Dave I had to refund a hundred grand. I stopped my funnels. I stopped running ads and I said, I need to take a step back figure things out so I can move forward take two steps forward and never have this problem again, at least at this caliber. So I think people get fixated on making money making money making money.

What can I sell? What can I what what what will people pay me money for and how can I do high ticket? How can I sell 5,000 10,000 20,000 but you know, you got to look at the core Foundation of your business model because what happens if a lot of people come get you a lot of money and now you have to deliver and I totally totally appreciate your transparency. I know this is a these aren’t easy conversations they have especially when you’re sitting there going I don’t care who you are a hundred thousand dollars. That’s just that’s not chump change.

That’s it. That’s a big decision. I think okay. I’m gonna refund $100,000 here and you’ve got your name at stake. You’ve got your business and I The part again. I haven’t been in similar types of situations where you’ve got major decisions. You’ve got to make from a company standpoint. It’s really kind of I think the part I like the most ages what you’re referring to right now is this is where you really transition from just making money and having a hobby to where you’re truly making a business and creating a business that ideal he’s going to have legs that is going to run by itself eventually without you and I those foundational type of things. I want to kind of expand on that. What are some of the foundational things you’re looking at right now that you’re struggling with and trying to put in place sure.

So for me, it would be coaching coaching program. So I need like establishing talented education or educated coaches people skilled and specific things automating a lot of processes that right. Now I’m doing manually those are and as I guess as an example, one of the parts of my services building out stores for people like a done-for-you service and Unfortunately what I figured I can just teach someone else to do what I know and they can execute it.

So I ended up growing to 10 employees had an office really started scaling really fast to meet the demand, but unfortunately, I wasn’t hiring a plus players and the thing I think the takeaway from this is I let go of my team I close my office and I took a step back and said who are the very best in the business that can help me fulfill this because I don’t want to be the one to do it and I want to step back and automate my business and I cannot hire people from Craigslist and people locally here in town just because they have you know experience on the technical side. You really need somebody that understands this business.

So for me right now, I’m building my 18th and moving forward that’s going to be Outsourcing it to companies that can fill specific parts of what I need to deliver a high-end e-commerce platform for my customers. Wow, a did those are profound words. I tell you that is I think the the hardest thing for Entrepreneurs I know having gone through it myself on the situation and that is the massive value difference between an a player and a be player.

It’s exponential. I mean, it’s it is so crazy and it’s hard when you get when you first get started as an entrepreneur, at least I know in my experience. It’s a lot easier think you know, I just want to if someone can just fog this mirror and can do the job. I’d rather not have to pay out a whole bunch of money just to get this job done.

Whereas I know I’ve had this conversation with Todd and Russell and guys here click funnels. And that’s been I think one of the things for us that separate us from everyone else even as I talked a lot of these guys you were trying to throw money at ClickFunnels™ in Step 2 is we we spent a lot of money on making sure we hired a player’s. Yes, they cost more and I mean that’s there’s definitely a huge price issue there.

But the value we found is 10 to 20 even a hundred thousand times greater because a lot of your eight players. I know we’ll start at least for us. We’ll start thinking for themselves and you don’t have to spend as much time babysitting babysitting them. I think one of the things you made mention of AJ, which I totally appreciate and that is you kind of just thought that they would be able to have the same skill set that you had or they’d be able to pick it up as fast as you picked it up and you’re never going to get that from a b player so man.

Congratulations. That’s a that’s awesome experience. Yeah, I appreciate that and you’re absolutely right and in my case, I honestly not to insult the people who work for me. I think they tried their best, but unfortunately, I think I ended up recruiting see players if anything and yeah, I think as an entrepreneur you expect people to have the same drive and ambition as you do and that they’ll just figure it out because we figure it out as entrepreneurs and that’s not the case when you hire somebody and I learned that certainly the hard way, but the number one problem in the takeaway.

I want people to know from scaling really fast is don’t focus is what I ended up focusing on is putting out fires and What that happened what resulted is my sales started declining because I stopped I took away attention from sales webinars and and really scaling to putting out fires and fulfilling the back end of what I promised.

I would deliver on it. And you know, if you’re in that position if you’re fortunate enough to be in that position where what people call a good problem where you’re making money, but you’re putting out fires then you know, my number one advice is to take a step back and really assess like how you can incorporate the right systems and hire the right A+ players to to move forward or else and you’re going to choke your business to death eventually.

Wow. I love that totally agree. So what are some of the things you’ve seen what it is you’re looking at scaling what are some of the tips and tricks you would recommend to other people Well as far as scaling goes, I mean, I would start off with really looking at your your core product and for me, it’s an online course, so I have a membership site with online access to my training and I realized like, you know what I have different levels of customers and members that come in at the starting phase.

I have people that come in like a webinar offer price of like 1,500 bucks and it goes all the way to 30 thousand dollars now for me. I had a really good problem every time I mention a more expensive product people wanted I remember one webinar where I was just kind of talking off the cuff at the end answering questions.

And I mentioned I was thinking about introducing our $20,000, you know program and I had three people sign up just because I said I’m thinking about that’s a nice problem to have the same thing happened prior to that where I went from 1500 to a five thousand dollar product.

And I said, well, I’m thinking about this $5,000 product. I would add more value to you guys. Let’s get more done for you. And then the next thing I knew people were bypassing the 1500 go straight to the 5,000. And so I think the more value I added in terms of what they would be getting out of it the more they wanted it.

So starting with to answer your questions to help people out there like really look at your core product if it’s an online course, so be it but make sure it applies to the tier like everyone wants to do high-ticket sales day by feel like that’s the new trend right now. Maybe it’s been going on for a long time.

Everyone was thinking about like, how do I sell a 10,000 dollar product? I dress so whatever $20,000 for Hard Sell it but you have to have something that’s differentiates from your from your core product or 1500 or 2000 dollar product and I made the mistake of putting bundling everyone in one group and just offering you know, specific kind of coaching if you were more expensive product or client and that’s just not the way to do it and that’s kind of one of the mistakes I made so now I’m kind of tailoring everything down to the foundation of the course to that specific customer or member.

So if you take a look at your product offerings then from a high-ticket standpoint. So are most of your funnels through webinars then yes. Yes, and no. I have a 10 like a seven-day people have different. I’m testing different things. I have a three-part miniseries and I have a 10-day mini course. I’m also going to test out like a docu-series kind of style approach But ultimately the core of my members do sign up via webinar. Yes.

Okay. So now they come in through a webinar and I think it’s really cool what you’re mentioned there as far as the ability as far as how you’re going to scale a product line because I know we’ve taken a look at different types of coaching programs. We’ve looked at you know, what you really can sell online versus offline from a webinar versus having to get a salesperson in place. So what price points are you seeing work? Cause you just made mention as far as 1500 5,000, you know, 10,000 20,000 dollars.

What can you really do on a webinar? And what do you see works the best? Well in terms of its it depends what you’re looking for. A lot of people are looking for like new members, right? So they’re like, oh I signed up 50 new members. I signed up 20 new members and they were not really fixated on the price point. You can sell that $500 at $1,000 for me. What I was looking at is total revenue and the path to get there with the least amount of effort right the path of least resistance.

So for me that was introducing a very high ticket products at the 2025 thousand range and the $5,000 range and I feel like nowadays a five thousand dollar product selling it through via webinar directly without like an application without phone sales is very doable, but you got to really add a lot of value and I think I created like in my way the perfect webinar in you know, not I love Russell’s perfect webinar script but mine deviates from that just a bit because you’re adding I mean just yeah.

I went based on my personality more than anything else they because at the end of the day people Respond to the price point only if positively only if they like you and if you’re trying to follow a structured script or a structured style and it doesn’t fit your personality and that that listener doesn’t like really resonate with you this not if you don’t get emotional if he doesn’t or she doesn’t have an emotional connection to what you’re saying. It doesn’t like you and I don’t care if you sell a one dollar product, they’re not gonna buy totally agree. It’s that emotional connection.

So a lot of people struggle above $2,000 on a webinar. How what are you doing in yours that is Connecting People enough with you to where you feel confident offering a five-thousand dollar product on a webinar and not having a voice and being able to the ability to avoid having to application or sales guy.

Okay, it starts in the indoctrination sequence. So it’s way before the what I don’t do a lot of straight to webinars and like ads hey watch my auto webinar. And then that’s it. That’s very hard to do. I’ll probably impossible in my opinion, but I start with a miniseries. Any course get into my Facebook group see some of my testimonials.

So by the time they get at least three four, maybe up to five or six emails from me watched a few of my videos and then attend a webinar usually live sometimes recorded then I’ve already added enough value on the front on the front end to wear when I make that offer is just that much more impactful because they’ve already solidified in their mind that I’m the real deal that if they’re coming in straight from a cold at it’s a lot harder to do sure. I think you know kind of goes back to the old concept as far as how how high.

Can you raise the free line meaning? How much can you provide value wise that still for free so that when they hit that price point of the next line, they’re like, oh my gosh, if I got all that for free, I easily pay $5,000 for x or whatever your product might be and I think at times a lot of us get so afraid it’s kind of funny.

I recognize people all the time said When when you’re talking my podcast anything else, I want you to give the very very best and they’re like, oh my gosh, I get the very best. I won’t have anything else to offer them like your product in your offering should never be that way.

You ought to be able to give the very best because at that point people are going to come to you because they want even more from you and you’ll always be able to deliver more than what you thought and at the end of the day if anyone scared to add too much value because they feel like they’re giving away the secret recipe just remember like by Nature people are lazy, they’re not and they’re gonna say wow this guy really if I went and did exactly what this guy just taught me for free.

I would really make money but imagine if I hired you know, that’s I think I hope everyone rewinds that listens to that again. I think that is by far one of the most important things is to realize how much people how lazy people truly are but more importantly than how much because most people don’t want to do it. They want it done for them or at least it done with you type of programs.

And in that kind of case, they’ll pay a lot of money for that they will and that’s kind of been the key to my success so far and I’m constantly evolving. I’m you know, creating new products. I’m also going Beyond e-commerce.

I’m going to start focusing on what I’m really passionate about which is really helping people be successful outside of just making money, but I’m grateful to e-commerce but anything you do just got to add value a lot of value. You know what I had somebody in my webinar actually tell me they went and made a hundred grand a month just from watching my webinar and what compliment seriously that’s awesome.

I know I was like jealous. I was almost like little Hoots. What did you do like through that, but ya know it you have to have a lot of value and make it more about the cust the audience because for me to get to $100,000 in sales from 5 people. I remember I was so disappointed on this webinar day I had Thousand people register and I had 80 people attend in like 50 people stuck around to the end and I was like, oh this is the worst webinar ever but I still gave it a hundred and ten percent, you know not I didn’t stay discouraged and sure enough at the end of that webinar a hundred grand from five people dude. That’s awesome.

Again, it meant that’s I think so often people forget. You got to do the Reps. You got to be willing. You gotta give all just if there’s only one person on that webinar, you still give a hundred percent and you just never know how it’s going to turn out.

So I those are great numbers though. Seriously, I a lot of people get really frustrating. Gosh. I have a thousand people registered. I mean, honestly, I remember we had a situation where we did one with Robert Kiyosaki Robert kiyosaki’s grouping that all my gosh.

This is gonna be the holy grail and it just bombed I was like what and a lot of it was just because the disconnect between the promotion partner and and us at the time but over time what we saw was we were able to connect with the People in on that webinar and it turned out great and I think you just did the same thing where yeah, you have 80 people, you know show up and only 50 people stay to the end but out of those 50 people 10 people are five people by and $100,000 comes in. That’s that’s not a bad return on whatever amount of time that it took to do your webinar.

Absolutely one one more tip. If somebody’s thinking about high-ticket sales is I have two different webinars. I have a regular webinar for my core product and I have a hot and sometimes I host like once a month. I’ll High ticket webinar specifically for my either, you know, 5K or 30k product.

And what I find is there’s like a don’t like indirectly. I didn’t know at the time. This was in a sense Ascension of sorts, but I wasn’t doing it intentionally in that my core product members were popping on my my Promotional webinars and they knew it was a promotional webinar. They knew they were watching something that was going to sell them something and they knew it was meant for new.

Movies but they were still hopping on every week. I noticed my core members hopping on these Promotional webinars and I remember even giving them a disclaimer. If you’re on this webinar you remember you don’t have to be here. This is not part of your core course and yet they would stick around and what I found is they kept buying upwards buying upwards and upgrading. Oh I want this package. Oh my God, you do this. I want this now and I never meant it’s so cool.

AJ. I think just goes to show the type of value you’re giving on your webinar standard if people are I mean and that’s what it comes down to it. You got to be able to give that kind of value.

I agree. I definitely agree and it’s I for those that are trying to like make a Killin right now off of webinars or they’re thinking about. Wow AJ did this maybe I can do it. They just keep in mind. I probably last year did over 200 webinars. I think total.

I mean it was I was doing almost a one or two webinars a week live. I mean, I My Endless hours of Rica lab recalibrating disappointment, you know, you name it frustrations webinars breaking down testing different webinar the tools and resources, but it goes beyond the webinar. The webinar is just one aspect of everything if you’re only looking at webinars and and it’s going to be hard at least to sell High ticket products in my opinion.

So what are the tips do you have for people who want to sell High ticket? Depends on how high they want to go because I think it’s relatively easy to sell something that’s like to $3,000 in my opinion. But if you’re thinking 5 10 15 20 30 Grand in add a lot of value on the don’t just go straight to webinar set them up on some you know mean he’s email sequence indoctrinate them.

Let them know your story let them know more given value and then let them decide. You know. Hey, I really want to be on this next webinar.  If you can do that, if you can convince them to seek out your next webinar and then you hit them with a really high ticket product.

You might be very successful and don’t be scared to make an offer. A lot of people are scared to make an offer there go straight. They’ll suggest like an application, you know, like oh just apply but why not? Why not make this offer at the end make the offer if they don’t buy then suggest they apply for for a chance to talk to yourself guy.

I love that idea. Well, what are the tips do you have for us? As far as I take its stuff before we wrap things up here?

High ticket stuff I would say don’t be scared to try to to Really charge what you think your product is worth. I think a lot of people show change themselves and that’s a mistake. I made I was one of those like I gave so much value for my 5 grand product. I wasn’t at the end of the day. I was like was it worth it? I mean I made money but so really factor in the value of what you’re offering and price it accordingly people are willing to pay your helping people make money hopefully in what you’re doing.

So, you know remember that I bought a franchise and CC’s Dave that cost me six hundred and fifty thousand dollars and and that was nothing in these to these people like these friend in the franchising world. That’s nothing and at the end of the day I made like I made maybe a hundred and fifty Grand. I mean come on. I made that like my first month with Commerce on my in this business here. So I love that analogy.

I hope people understand I think at times To get jaded in this whole e-commerce internet marketing opportunity type of thing where people like oh my gosh, you know, I’ve I’ve had many conversations my kids regarding college and education the cost of education and Russell of James I were talking about this literally yesterday when we’re working out as far as the cost of of education and you pay for it one way or the other and I think too often people aren’t willing to invest in themselves and yet you take a look at most the world and they’re spending as you just made mention $650,000 for accc’s franchise.

those same results here is your host Dave Woodward Wow everybody this is gonna be a crazy right I have had so many things happening recently that I’ve just been dying to talk to somebody about this I’ve been doing Facebook lives and I had to try to contain my excitement enthusiasm here but not everyone understands my backstory on this kind of stuff so we kind of slowed things down here and dive into what I’m referring to here is the marketing trifecta so everyone always talks about an offer and how he offers everything and yes I understand the importance of the offer but just recently Russell did probably one of the most amazing trainings I’ve ever heard him give and unfortunately was just for our two comma Club X members that was this whole idea between what we refer to really I’m calling the marketing trifecta and that’s the hook the story and the offer now understand if you get all three of these right it literally is a 10 10 million plus dollar business if you just get one of them right you’re still hitting a seven-figure dollar business if you do it right and so I want to kind of give you my some ideas and things as far as how all this works so what happened a was Russell and I think James Frio we’re working out and it’s it been literally about three weeks since the three of us had been together just due to phone hacking live implications and do being sick and everything else and so we’re sitting in Russell’s gym and it is one of those things where all the sudden the my ideas just started rolling like crazy and I don’t think we got any true workout done as far as physical workout but I left there so energizing so excited and so just passionate about what we do as far as helping other small entrepreneurs and business owners realize the impact that they can have literally on changing the world and it all comes down to this concept as far as the hook the story and the offer now it first of all if you do not have Russell’s book expert secrets by all means stop right now do not listen to this any further go to experts secrets calm and buy the book it’s like it’s like the most important thing you can have as a business owner to get things going at at a business and a product so often people try to compete on price and price is like the worst thing in the world you can ever compete on because unless you’re the very lowest price it doesn’t do you any good to be the second lowest it just there’s no value there and all anytime you’re competing on price it’s just a race to the bottom where you can have the exact same product and if the hook and the story and the offer are correct you actually can get a ton more money for the exact same product by having a better offer now I Steven Larson who I just adore guys just become a great friend he was talking with my son Chandler so that’s gonna get the story second hands so and Steven is one of our two comma Club X coaches and my son Chandler signed up so product you ever for doing this my gosh dad did it without even tell me about it and so he’s paying for his own but I’m really excited so I was talking to last night about this whole idea cuz I’m so excited about this hook offers story story offered trifecta he said oh dad is so weird I was talking to Steve Larson about this the other day and he said that what I should be doing is every single time I see a product I haven’t think what is the offer that I have to create for that and the more ideas that you can create as far as coming up with offers the better I would be in my marketing oh my gosh that’s awesome and then I’m sitting there talking with Russell and the same thing happened on the hook side and that is every time you look at an offer what is the hook that you can come up with to make that offer that much more come and so Chandler was saying you with that I’m gonna basically take a look at everything I whatever I see as far as what would be they offer that I can create for that product so what I’m watching shark tank how would I enhance that offer what would I how can I make that offer better and a lot of times it comes back to the hook and I guess the way you can almost kind of refer to the hook as marketing foreplay it’s the idea as far as get it’s what gets people most interested in this story you’re about ready to tell and so the idea behind this is that if you get the right hook it can overcome a lot of mistakes in the offer so let me give you a couple of different ideas here take for example in real estate Robert Allen had probably one of the best hooks out there and whether you like his coaching program or what he does doesn’t matter so just realize as far as his hook his hook was so compelling that he literally had the newspapers writing about it and his hook was send me to any city take a one take away my wallet give me a hundred dollars for living expenses and in 72 hours I’ll buy an excellent piece of real estate using none of my own money now realize that hook is so compelling is whether you can do it or not it’s like yeah I want to find out about this and that’s again he hasn’t even given you the offer for his coaching program his hook is just out there so big and bold that people like Wow it catches their attention it’s it’s the it’s the pretty girl in the bars everything where it’s like wow it does knock down gorgeous woman and you’re sitting there or a gorgeous guy whatever it might be and your that’s the hook it’s what gets the person’s attention to where they’re like oh my gosh Tom and more and that’s where your story then becomes so compelling it’s also kind of like why if you take a look in the fitness industry I see this happened quite a bit you can have a person as the greatest product in the world on losing weight they can have the most amazing way to help a person lose weight but I can tell you right now that if if they’ve never had to lose weight themself they don’t have a hook that’s strong enough it just Falls it’s a small flat because it just doesn’t connect with people particularly I forget Drew’s last name who owns fit too fat to fit here’s a guy who has fit his entire life it is trying to to basically go out and help other people lose weight and get in shape and what he realized is because he had never gone through the experience of losing weight he was just like any other person out there and so he was trying to come up with a way that he could relate better and it could be a more compelling hook and so what’s this guy do he decides to create fit to fat fit for other words and it ventually is it he gets on all the late-night talk shows he hits on he then gets his own TV show about it because it was such an amazing hook that is here you have this guy who is just rock-hard chiseled body this Adonis type of figure who realizes that you know what I’m gonna go ahead I’m gonna get fat which is just totally opposite and so realize sometimes with the hook doing the opposite is what can create a solid hook so he goes from being to in amazing shape to where he gets fat super fat and then goes through and documents which is one of the keys to a great hook is the story is documenting things as you’re going through it so he documents this journey of becoming fat and then he documents the journey of losing the weight so now he has this compelling story of being fit of getting fat and then being fit again to where the hook is so strong that the story is fascinating or people want to hear more about this story and then they offer whether his offer is good or not doesn’t even matter as much because people have been sucked in so much by the hook in the story that they now are much more willing to listen to the offer the same thing happens in with Russell and a lot of things that he’s done here again you got a guy Russell is amazing at creating hooks in he by far the best guy in the world Farms offers go and also as far as hooks and if you take a look at a lot of his hooks the classic example right now is a brand new podcast he’s just come out with which is called the Book of Mormon challenge and again this isn’t a religious aspect here but this story here is so critical for you to understand I want to make sure you you get it and if you haven’t listened to his podcast by all means no matter what your religious affiliations are go and listen to Book of Mormon challenge calm or book Book of Mormon challenge podcast and it’ll take you to Book of Mormon challenge.com the idea behind it is here’s a guy who as most of you already know is remember the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints or Mormon and his whole idea is this book so Mormons the nickname warming comes from the Book of Mormon which is a companion to the Bible and they go hand in hand and yet his whole idea here is there’s value in this book and he’s got a ton of around his house and he’s sitting there going gosh you know how the world can I get more excited about reading this book that I know it should be reading and so what he decided to do he decides to go out and spend a small fortune to buy one of the original copies of a very limited run of only 5000 copies that was published over 180 years ago so now he spends his small fortune he gets this book and now because he has it he now decides he’s gonna create a podcast to then tell people about his journey of going through and reading this precious volume of scripture that he and it’s been a small fortune to get one of the original copies of so that’s the hook that basically leads in to every single one of his podcasts so I highly recommend if nothing else at least listen to the intro to the Book of Mormon challenge because it basically tells you his hook in his intro the reason that hooks are so important is because hooks allow you the opportunity of actually increasing value even though you can have the exact same price so you can have the same price or you don’t have to compete on price because the added value that’s there so realize that when you’re looking at hooks there’s ways of creating looks some of the more common ones I’ve seen recently one is a crazy story or a claim like take for example Robert Allen’s or Drew’s fit to fat to fit or Russell’s claim or his experience basically of spending a small fortune to buy only the original 5,000 copies of Book of Mormon the other thing is taking a person through the journey and helping them understand kind of what you’re going through so if you’re familiar with JP if you’re sorry JP turgid catalog Seinfeld did an amazing episode in fact Elaine used to work for word JP Herrmann even though it’s kind of this myth mystical miss mythical type of story out there she worked for JP Duminy in this whole catalog edition and if you haven’t seen any of the original J Peter catalog we need to go to eBay and buy some of the catalogs they are fascinating primarily because they’re selling its clothing that’s being sold by story and it’s it’s just an amazing experience to read through some of the copy on these stories so realize that J Peterman was it uh it’s an actual company I think it started in the 80s 70s or 80s and they basically end up going bankrupt and one things that saved them was these crazy catalogs so I want to talk to you and I’m gonna read some of these stories here inside of a catalog now realize an umbrella you can pick up an umbrella for adding a web probably 7 10 20 bucks 30 bucks he’s selling umbrella here for $119 so you open up the catalog and what you see here is an English umbrella now understand this looks like any other umbrella you would ever see it it’s black it has a basically a hook on the bottom but let me read the story and see if it now increases the value to you so English umbrella in the past we sold four-minute mile for us basically in marketing by doing over a million dollars in a launch and so earlier in Russell’s presentation you’d already talked about Roger Bannister and the four-minute mile so it ties in to the offer we now says goes back and talks about John Reese setting the four-minute mile in our industry and then he goes through and talks about how he spent over a million dollars to actually buy from John Reese the actual traffic secrets course and he’s giving that away free so he sets value to it he sets the hook and then to provide the social proof to it he also then shows copies of the so wire transfers to John for that so realize it’s the hook it’s the story the offer and that your bonuses need to have the same type of hooks and stories along with them I take some flattening did a similar thing recently with Trey Llewellyn where he was going to do a joint venture with Trey on on a product for e-commerce and Jason yeah Thursday already has a huge following in the e-commerce space he’s already a very well established person with webinars but what he realized is the hook and the story was so important that he actually ends up spending money to hire Trey to do this joint venture with so he sends trading money and shows people a copy of the money that he’s sent the check you sent to Trey and why does he pick Trey because Trey at the time is the number one selling ecommerce person inside of ClickFunnels™ and that’s the story he wants he wants an interview with the very best number one ecommerce seller inside of ClickFunnels™ so he can now use that as his hook and that is his story to then create the offer for his training code and it’s coaching program on e-commerce so realize that the whole idea here is you’ve got to focus on what is the hook and sometimes the hook is the journey it’s the crazy story it’s it’s what you’re going through yesterday just Russell ended up he’s wanted again he’s doing an episode for his book of Mormon challenge and he’s actually creating a hook just for one episode and this hook is the fact Russell hardly ever takes a day off but he ends up taking an entire day off to read The Book of Mormon and that then becomes the hook for his one episode and not only is it is it just that the reason he’s doing it is because of a story that took place over a hundred eighty years ago I a guy by the name of parley Pete Pratt who spent the entire God copy of the original Book of Mormon and ends up spending all this Loui his whole life stopped for the entire day because became so obsessed with reading this book and so it happened to be probably Pratt’s birthday yesterday so Russell thought you know what I’m gonna actually do that I’m going to take that challenge so sometimes you can do what someone else did and it’s your experience of that journey is becomes your hook and so Russell’s hook for the third episode was has taken an entire day off from work to read the original copy of the book mourn that he spent a small fortune on to get one of the original 5000 copies so realize whatever your business is you’ve got to spend the time to find out what is the best hook what is the story that I can now what’s up everybody’s russell brunson welcome to marketing secrets podcast i’m sorry i had to jump in while I’m driving I apologize but check it out I just went my buddy made me a bunch of homemade pizzas and some crystal root beer and heading back to go have dinner with my kids and just some time my brain a head stop and give you guys some marketing secrets so the big question is this power on Brewers like us who didn’t cheat and take on venture capital we’re spending money from our own pockets how do we mark it in a way the less husky our products and our services and the things that we believe in out to the world and yet still remain profitable that is the question in this podcast we’ll give you the answers my name is Russell Brunson and welcome to marketing secrets alright everybody so this marketing secret I don’t even know I don’t you know what this is kind of a little mini rant it’s not a big rant but it’s like a I feel bad for people who stopped learning if you stop learning so if okay yeah I try to like tell you guys a story that like telling on the people who are missing everything so I don’t know okay so I’m building ClickFunnels™ right so I thought Billy ClickFunnels™ I’m looking around I’m like okay who out there is doing what I want to do right so I find those people I look what they’re doing I study them my funnel hack and I look deep a decal I buy their books and listen their podcast I like go to their events I like buy everything that they’ve got I am like hooked to every possible communication channel they have so things are going on I’m watching studying learning growing tweaking adjusting based on that right and I’m watching it over and over and over and over you right and not just like people direct competitors with me but I people that are that are selling sad like I’m a SAS software company owner right and I’m also a book selling person and I’m doing webinars and courses so anybody’s doing any variation that I’m connected to all of these things right and so I am constantly like my all thing I is watching what every single person is doing okay and I’m learning I’m learning I’m learning I’m trying tweaking to learn you know and then I’m also like as I’m learning it I’m testing it inside my inner circle and inside now – come on Club expert program I’m I’m testing it on all these are the people because I’m like okay I see how they’re doing it I’m gonna try see if it works and I’m like I want to test this stuff on other people and other businesses on the industry see if it also works there as well and then and then so that they’re all going out and doing it and then they’re finding out their tweaks to tweet and they’re coming back to me you’re like Oh Russell I made this week made this change I’m like oh and I’m learning stuff and like it’s this constant like I don’t know the circle of learning right and so I have some really close friends this isn’t one specific thing I’m thinking of two different people right now who’ve been in this game for a long time as long as me if not longer and and it’s not swampers they they’re groups of people right so first group of people like they have been they they’re amazing marketers I’ve learned so much from them so much so much so much okay but in the last like three or four years for some reason that they took their foot off the brake or something or off the gas I don’t know and then they went and they’re trying to launch like a competing software company which is totally cool I love competition more than anybody right and so I’m like freaking out so I’m like hey for the last three years I published every single thought I’ve had about how we grow ClickFunnels™ from zero to hundred million dollars how are 62,000 active customer is that how we did like like I haven’t really I’m not very good at keeping secrets somebody asked me the other day like and also you keep a secret I’m like no I’m the worst secret keeper ever every brain fart I get turns into a podcast like right now right every idea that’s a secret right into a book I’ve got like eight books they’re all something secrets like I don’t I don’t I won’t keep a secret like honestly if you tell me something it’ll be on a podcast eventually so just don’t tell me something the secret right so everything does out there so I I’m kind of nervous like oh man these guys who were amazing marketers already are gonna come out there and be like and I don’t know you would have thought over the last three years they’ve been listening to me as I laid the blueprint for everything that we did and then they would have modeled but instead of it like it’s basic stuff basic stuff that all you guys listen to podcast is like common sense you’ve like Oh duh like difference mean an improvement offer versus new opportunity like like they missed that that was the biggest thing like as soon as I came out I was like expert secrets like 30 pages in if you had read my book you would have known that the way you structured the entire offer and the company was like was wrong but they didn’t they missed it and I even commented to one of them cuz like hey like by the way like thanks for totally like doing it wrong and I could be talking about like we thought the offer was awesome like okay the offer was good but it was an improvement offer there for ClickFunnels™ beats you once again like I don’t I don’t it’s just weird and then another one my friends is the same thing like these things that are like basic common knowledge now amongst all of our people like that we’ve discovered and unearthed and then like preached about for three years that then like the reason why I’m looking at our to comic-con members that are just pounded out offers and cranking it and growing the companies I’m looking at our to come Club X people like all these people that are scaling and growing you’re like building amazing companies and it’s like because they’re just paying attention to the stuff that we’re laying down and then they’re following it whereas people that are they’re competing against me they fully are even attention to blows my mind I listen to a lot of podcasts to you right and especially ones that are deep in the software industry and cuz I’m watching him saying what are the all the software people doing and it’s not expect I started I was learning bunch stuff now it’s like this weird thing where it’s like our company has scaled so far past almost any sass I can find out their sales forces like the last one I’m really intimately studying because there’s no one else that’s kind of at the pace that we are it’s getting difficult to find the new ideas and things like that but Salesforce is one I’m geeking out now because they’re the ones that are like 10 steps ahead of me but essentially cuz I’m listening to all these and they and a couple interviews always asked like I hate who write what CEOs are you studying and they’re studying anyway just it blows my mind that nobody is paying attention so I just want to say for you guys who are paying attention congratulations you are ahead of people that I’ve been doing this game for a decade or more because they’re not paying attention there comes a time in people’s lives where they feel like they’ve learned too much or they under like I had one of my close friends who messaged me their names like hey like you’re killing can I come to your office and spend like two days just shouting you’re like I’ll just like watch it or do anything I was like have you read my books yet like no I’m I can’t read both the books first and then come back and I’ll let you do that crickets like those weren’t just like crappy little books I wrote like that literally is the blueprint for everything anyway so for those you guys who are paying attention thank you I appreciate you it gives me a reason why I share all this kind of craziness and for those who are listening thank you because it’s the reason why I’m kicking your butts that was kind of rude huh but it’s true I don’t know what else to do like this is funnel hacking 101 this is how we’ve grown I’m watching everything and then implementing and reiterating over and we’re over again and it blows my mind that people especially if you’re competing directly with me why would you not do that I don’t even understand and there’s another guy who get I might get short people some I bet I was like eight people or think oh my gosh he’s talking about me so maybe I’m talking about you baby I’m not but um what’s interesting is like I guarantee that there’s a bunch of oh there’s another guy who runs a software company so there it could be like 20 of you but nothing like it’ll don’t know where they are if I if I tell the story so I can tell a story but anyway it’s all there in plain sight or we’ve got coaching programs where I share it all and it blows my mind what people some people won’t pay for what will give them everything they need insanely cool how many guys were at TEDx last year all right after that event they called me on the phone that hey listen hey Russell we’re gonna do an event next year we’re talking 9,000 people in the arena do you want to come I was like I don’t think that’s possible and he’s like we’re gonna do it I’m like alright we’ll see and here we are today this is in the coolest thing in the world now I’m gonna talk about some really fun exciting things I’m going to show you guys how to instantly outspend your competitors and ethnically steel all potential customers in your market which is gonna be pretty exciting right but first I wanted something really fun can everybody grab your phone and pull outside of your pocket when y’all grab your phone and I want you to turn on the flashlight and hold up above your head as we do this we’re gonna dim the lights here in the room let’s dim the lights down all right you guys look out over the how cool is that now I want to do is I want you to look around see all these different lights out here every one of these lights to me represents an entrepreneur or salesperson and for me the only people in the world that are gonna change this world for the better or entrepreneurs and salespeople and so for me the reason why I’m here today the reason I wanted to do this because I know that for every single of those lights out there there’s somebody if I can help you to get your message your product your service out to more people that’s how the world’s gonna change and that’s we’re gonna be doing today and I’m so excited to be here all right with that said is how to instantly outspend your competitors and ethically still all potential customers in your market when I first run this headline someone said that’s kind of aggressive don’t you think I said not for the 10x crowd they’re gonna love this [Laughter] all right now may 6 1965 something amazing happened for decades and decades prior to that human beings believed that it was physically impossible to break the four-minute mile but on that day May 6 1965 Roger Bannister did it now what’s interesting is again decades centuries prior that nobody believed it was possible but as soon as Roger banner Bannister did it people thought it was possible in fact just 46 days later John Landy because he saw what Roger Bannister did he thought he can do it I can do it and just 46 days he did it and he broke the four-minute mile as well and since then dozens and dozens of people have done it but it wasn’t until one person did it that everyone else believed was possible August 17 2004 was the day the four-minute mile was broken for me at the time I was a young kid I just learned how this whole internet thing I was geeking out I was making about $1,000 a month and I thought I was the smartest guy in the world and on August 17th I was 24 years old the time this man John Riis yeah he set out to do something that nobody thought was possible he said I’m gonna make a million dollars in a day and he went out there and he put together the internet campaign and put it a really cool funnel together he launched it and in just 18 hours they passed the million dollar mark now me as the 24 year old kid is sitting there looking at this with my at goals and aspirations would make a thousand dollars a month online and I was like if John Reese if this guy who’s just like me just like you just like any of us can make a million dollars in a day I wonder if I can make a million dollars in a year first time it ever crossed my mind I don’t even know that’s possible but if John can do a million dollars in a day I think I could do a million dollars in the calendar year that was my goal and so I started on January 1st 2005 I said ok this is the year I’m gonna make it in a calendar year and I want all these different things and in 12 months I missed the goal I didn’t hit a million dollars in sales I got close but I didn’t hit it I was 2005-2006 I tried again the January 1st came in a million dollars next 12 months I launched bunch stuff again I didn’t make it again and then the next year it was a January 2007 I launched it and by October 16th I crossed the million dollar mark in a calendar year thank you because John did it I knew that I could do it now since then I’ve gone and had multiple minotaurs years and have million-dollar months and even million-dollar days but it wasn’t till I knew that John could do it that I could do it now for my community in fact how many photo hackers we have I hear in the audience right now my people I love it so my audience I was like when I believed when I start John Reese – and I had belief that I could do it it changed everything for me so I said I want to make something like this for my audience and so we created an award last year there’s about 10 years later after this we made a ward called the 2 comma Club award – comma means there’s two commas in your paycheck you made at least a million dollars inside of a funnel and we want we had the idea for this I thought maybe we have a dozen people inside of ClickFunnels™ say they’ve done I don’t know and I went and looked at a time we had 93 people 93 people a year ago came on my stage and got an award and said they’re into comma Club I mean they made over a million dollars in a funnel now since then at that event there was a whole room of other entrepreneurs and they were looking around they said that guy next to me made a million dollars this and all of a sudden became real for everybody and since then we’re making over there’s over one person every single day who’s become a millionaire inside of ClickFunnels™ she’s happening every single day boom boom it’s insane now the coolest thing is that that became the four-minute mile and I was like well what’s the next what’s the next four-minute mile for my audience and so this year a funnel hacking life those are going to be there we’re launching our – comma Club X which means you made at least ten million dollars inside of a funnel and the coolest thing is that right now we have 15 entrepreneurs who’ve won that award and what’s gonna happen and think you can clap for that’s pretty amazing my goal with a couple that were in the audience sitting back in the front area here and Alex and Leila hermos II know that the time when they were sitting here less than a year ago they were going through a horrible business time businesses were collapsing they’re shutting things down and wasn’t sure what to do after listen to my presentation they’re like we’re into a funnel we’re gonna go all-in and unfortunately we’re unable to make here today but I had Alex make me a quick like 30-second video of him in the airport today or yesterday for all of you guys to explain what happened since then what’s going on Groupon this is Alex last year same time I was sitting in the audience and right after that we launched our first funnel and it’s now been however many months since April and we crossed the figure marks so what Russell thing is for real it’s legit and you’re truly one funnel away that awesome give a round of applause [Applause] they didn’t hit a million dollar since April they hit ten million dollars they didn’t go and dabble they went all the way in now I want you guys understand this because the four-minute mile has been broke in for all of you guys the process of the key so those gentlemen know me my name is Russell Brunson I am a serial entrepreneur with an obsession of helping entrepreneurs around the world nothing gets me more excited than that I had a chance to work with some of the most amazing people the world I built funnels to people like Tony Robbins like Marcus lemonis from the profit how many you guys watch the TV show the Prophet yeah so uh last year they actually had me on the show and I had chance to build funnels for one of Marx’s companies and it was insanely cool so this is something that is kind of on the new side but man is starting to get more and more mainstream the more that I talk about this okay my entire goal is get everyone understand that sales funnels are the key to growing all of our companies okay so what is the sales funnel for those who don’t know let me start actually with what you probably do know most of us know what a traditional website is right okay I always call this the anti sells department we send people use traditional websites and what it’s like it’s kind of like having a sales person there and when somebody comes they hand them a brochure and then they step back and they hoping they pray that the cell gets hit the guy gets made now how many guys know if you had a salesperson who’s handing out brochures and then hiding you would fire them instantly yeah if for some reason we’re okay with our websites doing nothing right okay for all of us who are entrepreneurs who are spending our own money out of our own pockets to grow our companies we have to be smarter way to build something where we put a dollar in advertising in and instantly get $2 back out okay and that is what a sales funnel is a sales funnel is kind of like taking your very best sales person that you have cloning that person and making it so that every single person they come to your website they grab them they introduce themselves they find out what they’re interested in taking that to buy the actual product and service that they need to help grow and have more success okay that is what it sells funnel is a much better way to do it okay now after 10 years of doing this business you guys I’ve tried a whole bunch of crazy stuff I’m gonna break it all down very simple very easy and so you guys because we’re here today and you woke up this morning you get a sheet and get it the easy way how many does one of the easy way yeah all right so let me show you the hard way because funnel is used to be hard to find nobody ever did them for the first decade of my game because that was in this game because they were hard to do kid this was a sales but I’m not sure you guys been the scenes of this one this is one of my supplement companies that we sold last year okay now to build this funnel it doesn’t look that complicated right I took pictures and put them on my walk so I wanted to see what it all looks like it’s only what one two three four five six and eight eight pages yeah that’s probably pretty easy for it takes an hour to write no this is a way to go through to create this so step number one to create a funnel it’s really design the funnel like this strategy what’s it gonna be like what’s the upsells and the down cells and the price points two three that out right number two I’d write the copy the copies of the sales letter now our supplement was helping people diabetic neuropathy I didn’t know what that meant in fact I made a rule inside of my company I didn’t want anyone to explain to me with diabetic neuropathy was to have made at least a million dollars in the funnel so I know I do it we’re even selling Upton and we knew it worked and so I hired a copy writer to write the sales letter cost $20,000 for the sales letter then we had our designer to design the sales letter than a website designer put it online a programmer to hook the shopping carts and the autoresponders get it all working analytics person my upfront cost to build this woman funnel long was $29,000 okay now that’s come not too bad the worst thing you know is that I had already ordered the supplements they were sitting in a warehouse gathering dust for eight weeks that’s all it took us to build at two months for me builders funnel let me a chance to find launch it and it was it was awesome but that’s why most people have struggled in this business for so long my goal today is help free you as an entrepreneur and as a sales person to generate your own leads to make your own sales without being tied down by tech people okay and in fact I’m gonna build an entire funnel with you guys in under 10 minutes actually I did it this morning it takes about six so you can see how fast how easy this actually is can now people have figured this process out we call these people funnel hackers okay so that’s why all my move my funnel hackers against here alright so these are my funnel hackers now I want introduce all of you guys to become funnel hackers with me so last night secrets to funnel hacking secret number one do you guys understand this this will give you the ability to get unlimited leads for free for the rest of your life I’ll show you guys that whoever can spend the most money to acquire customer win this is the foundation of fundal – when you understand this everything else becomes really really really easy whoever could spend the most money to require customer wins number two or show you guys how to get these the best sales person on planet earth to close sales for your product 24 hours a day seven days a week and the best thing about the salesperson is they never complain they never ask for raise then never take a break now I am a salesperson it’s like most of you in this room and what I’ve noticed about most of us salespeople we’re kind of high maintenance we always want to get paid more we want better leads we want more stuff right okay the salesperson about to energy she has she doesn’t do any of that stuff and it works 24 hours a day seven days a week and the last thing I’ll show you is how to get all of the customers who are currently going to your competitors start coming to you instead and it’s me really fun so let’s dive right in so secret in one who ever could spend the most money to acquire a customer wins now this is the key to understand you guys I learned so when my first mentors Dan Kennedy said a business beats this competition by making the exact same prospect worth more to his business meant to that of his competitors whoever can spend the most money to acquire customer wins i’ma jump into the seasoned understand so I watched my company click funnels about three years ago when we did it it was me and a couple of dudes in an office that we were little tiny office and all we had was a vision of how to change the world that was it okay we had no money we had no venture back capital we had nothing like that we just had a dream and a vision okay now as we were developing this companies less literally whiteboarding ClickFunnels™ on the wall and these guys coding it while I was just getting excited cuz I don’t know how to code I’m just excited all the time and they were working on it at the time where Ike well who’s our competitors who were competing against and we found these are our two competitors first competitor got 38 million dollars in funding and second we got 127 million dollars in funding and I’m like alright well that’s what I’m going up against I literally have a visa with a thousand dollar limit on it and a dream and a vision how am I gonna win okay all these guys can completely out spend me yet we were able to take quick from zero to over a hundred million dollars in sales in just three years demolishing both of those two competitors without taking on a penny of outside capital thank you thank you now since we’ve started doing this we have a whole bunch of venture capitalists who keep coming like Russell can we give you money I’m like no why would I take your money like I don’t I want my customers to give me money that’s the way business should happen and they keep trying to give us money and finally one day I was just curious I’m like what do you make up talking about valuations Michael I’m gonna see what they think we’re actually worth I had no idea like this is a whole world that’s beyond me I just want to sell stuff and so we went to lunch one day zoo VCS and they start asking me all these questions and he said ok how do you like how much does it cost to acquire customer that’s like that’s question number one right if you guys watch Shark Tank I was asked like what’s the cost to acquire customer I was like well when we drive as we buy a bunch of ads and we drive them to ClickFunnels™ calm it cost us about $120 to get a free trial and the guy was like like licking his chops he’s like ok so if we gave you 50 million dollars and funding equals X amount of customers and to do all the the math in his head and I was like whoa slow down slow down I said we actually turned those ads off said what why would you turn those hats off like you’re crying customers $110 a person that’s awesome I was like because I have to pay for the like I have to pull my wallet out and pay for every one of those customers right I can’t fold 120 grand 120 hours for everything every free customer signs up he’s like so what do you do I said well I didn’t want to be broke so we had to do things different we had to think smarter about things so I said this is how we do it we run ads and I don’t sell ClickFunnels™ up front instead what I do is I sell I Drive people to a sales funnel now I’ve got a whole bunch of cells from about five or six sales funnels we use right now we drive people through and we sell different things how many guys have got have purchased one of my books all right he hasn’t been through the funnel then okay on average right now cost about $20 in ads to sell one copy of my book now he has no idea might wait give him a give away my book for free plus shipping but cool thing is that when someone come buys they go through this funnel so it means there’s an upsell there’s a down slap so the audiobook episode training program bunch things like that so right now on average they spend $20 on ads to sell a book and I make about $40 so what just happens is that I get $20 cash net profit into my pocket and I get a customer and then I tell the customer hey there’s really cool software called ClickFunnels™ you should try it and they try it for free and it doesn’t know he’s not costing me $120 get a customer I got paid $20 before I even told that customer about what I’m trying to sell them here’s getting this so the VC didn’t I explain it once I spent a second time he said wait wait I don’t understand so people pay you to become a lead and then they read your book and they’re completely indoctrinating in your belief system and then they signup and doesn’t cost you anything Mike yesterday awesome and he’s like yeah three or four times a finite member last time he said if what you’re saying is true this will change business as we know it forever said yeah that’s my mission that’s what I’m trying to tell people he’s understand this one funnel who’s worth more to me than 127 million dollars in funding we blew past both of these companies in less than three years that’s the Power Cells funnels all right thank you so this is it a secret you guys when you have a funnel that’s create the right way you can instantly outspend your competitors and ethically still all potential customers in your market even with these my competitors dumping as much cash as they can my ads are still burying them they’re everywhere how many hasn’t seen my ads every single time you turn on anything hey tonight when you go to your hotel room turn on TV we bought all the ads on TV as well everyone who’s in the room block here you will see my ads all over TV as well we can now spend everybody okay that’s the key so a question for all of you guys lots of different business types in there’s nine thousand people you all have differences the question we get from oh she hasn’t what kind of funnel should I use it depends on the kind of business you out so I kind of went through and we segmented before I came here you figure out all the different markets you guys are in we broke it down about ten okay first one are people that have either run an agency of their freelancer how many guys that fit your who you are there we go number two people selling information products number three see people selling ecommerce products number four people doing coaching or consulting number five people that are network marketing number six local businesses doing anything with chiropractic dental you know that a lot of be business-to-business people just looking for leads to generate we’ve got a whole bunch of people who are bloggers or affiliate marketers we got nonprofits and then we got bunch of people are just getting started that’s custom for all you guys that cover everybody hopefully there’s no one I missed right so I want you to stand that yours number the commercial from back in the 90s when the iPhone first came out and there right there’s an app for that oh you need this there’s net for that okay just like there’s an app for that I promise you there’s a funnel for that whatever business you’re and there’s a funnel for that okay so the question that is how do you know what type of funnel to bill okay and we do that we figure out what that is through a fun simple process that we call funnel hacking that’s where you guys I’ll get your new nickname okay let me explain how funnel hacking works I learned the first parts I learned from Tony Robbins 20 Robbins told me said if you want to achieve success you know all you need to do is find a way to model those who’ve already succeeded right now I started thinking back in my career things I’ve been good at and I was a wrestler growing up how many wrestlers would have in the room yeah anyone on a wrestle I would much rather do that right now up here all right let’s go okay Todd’s wrestler and my first custard I was not only not good I was bad my first year I got beat almost every single time remember the end of season my dad took me to the state tournament and the state tournament when the guys on my high school team won the state title he was a three-time state champ my dad videotaped what he did and we watched it and that whole summer we would watch the video of this guy and my dad or teach me the moves that he was doing so all summer long I practiced and practiced and I practiced I found someone was good I modeled them in a very short period time I went from being a really bad wrestler to being a state champ to going to high school nationals taking second place in the country becoming an all-american eventually going to college being with top 10 wrestlers in the country okay not because thank you now because I was amazing wrestler because I found people were super successful I modeled what worked when I started business was the same thing I went to college I went to college to wrestle people asked my degree and I was like mic degrees in wrestling I didn’t even know the classes were there I barely graduated and towards the end of it I started learning how this internet thing I think business class then take entrepreneur class I think any I just knew that I want to make some money I jumped online I started seeing people are successful I mean man these people are geniuses I don’t know how to do what they do but I can see what they’re doing I’m just gonna model them I started modeling what they were doing and within a year of graduating from college I made over a million dollars online okay the same thing is true in sales phones you guys don’t have to be sales funnel geniuses you don’t take geek out like I do every single day or you just look around and find someone in your industry or in a similar industries having success and then we model them okay every time I share this like it’s somebody’s like well that’s cool Russell but I got a better way to do it I got a different thing I can do instead and I would smile as people I say you can always tell who the pioneers are because they’ve got arrows in their back and they’re lying down face face down in the dirt ken in this industry you don’t want to be a pioneer you don’t want to go try things first time I ever got this I was actually an event and there’s a guy on stage names Porter Stansberry important worked for a company called Agora publishing em you guys know about Agora they do over one point five billion dollars a year selling financial newsletters biggest financial newsletter company the world okay he says and porters up there on stage she ran a division called Stansbury research which was the biggest division of the time and he’s going through all his numbers and metrics he’s showing his sales funnels I’m like a little kid in the back like I can’t believe he’s telling me this stuff I was freaking out right taking notes and everything he’s talking two million miles a minute and all sudden he stopped he said you know what’s interesting he said every single year there’s people who see what we’re doing here to go or publishing and they want to cut they want to compete against us he said the first thing didn’t come out and they tried to beat us on pricing so they come and they sell the product for cheaper it’s like we know from decades of doing this that you cannot make those numbers work the metric system work he says so then they figure that out of inch and then try something different try three or four things eventually they go bankrupt they lose their business okay the biggest thing that killed entrepreneurs is it not that they don’t have vision they do have vision but usually either run in our time or money before they have that ability to execute on the vision okay and Porter said at this time said if you want to compete with the Gore publishing you can’t try to compete with us you said you got to copy us and that’s when the light bulb went off my head I thought man it Gore’s got hundreds of full time copier eyes writing copy to split testing things if I want to go and try all those things I don’t have the money out of the budget to do that but I can go and look at like all the the pioneers that had all the arrows in the back and move me like it were they today oh they’re right here oh that’s what’s working today I should just model that that’s what we do okay that’s the way of success is so quickly is by finding people who’ve already succeeded and we model again all right so step number one this funnel hacking process is to find somebody to funnel hack so we don’t watch our supplement company against my first supplement company and we were selling to people had diabetic neuropathy and I was doing some research like well who else out there is having success it’s gotta be somebody we found this little website right here and we’re going to and looking at I was like this is probably the ugliest website I think I’ve ever seen in my life it’s all purple and black and weird but I did some research and some some Intel and I found out about at the time that they were making about a hundred thousand dollars a month selling this supplement I was like okay cool they know what they’re doing but I’m a marketing guy so I’m gonna do it better because I know a better way to do it and then I was like wait a minute maybe they have some arrows on their back like I don’t know what people with diabetic neuropathy like maybe they know something I don’t know so instead of trying to be creative and do my own thing I said look I’m gonna model his works so I went out my very first version of our sales page it looks very similar like and one thing one stress is that notice that I said model we didn’t copy okay I modeled the look the field the layout the price point eight a big boom left-hand-side Idol logo did a phone number a hands on iphone red cells Leonard the pictures of all I had modeled to look the feel the layers closest I couldn’t copy anything but I’m all the structure and we launched this in a very short period time this little website started making us about $20,000 a month okay which is cool and I was like oh there’s gotta be something else they’re doing that I missing it what is it how are they having some success and so I did what every good entrepreneur has to become good at doing I pulled my wallet out of my pocket pull my credit card out and I bought their product like what I do behind the scenes that I’m missing now unfortunately for me and also for them they didn’t have much on the back end it just kind of ended I was like ah there’s gotta be somebody who knows what they’re doing in this industry so when outside I started looking for other companies eventually I found a supplement company and I met the owner and they were doing about thirty million dollars a month selling their supplement I’m like okay this guy knows what he’s doing when to the website look different it looked like this there was this video and add the Cart button I’m like it’s kind of weird I clicked on the button it took me to an order form like this on the order form remember they offered one three or four bottles I was like that’s weird I’ve never seen something like that and then I was like okay I gotta see what else they’re doing behind the scenes so I did what every good entrepreneur has to become good of doing pull my credit card out of my wallet and I bought the product now it’s crazy I went to the next page the next page he ups told me six more bottles of the exact same thing I just purchased and we’re looking at thinking just can’t think I’m a drug addict just ten bottles of this stuff like I don’t know how to do that and it first I was like this guy’s crazy I’m a marketing guy know better how did a better way to do this then and then luckily for me I took my pride hung up on the shelf I said maybe they’ve got some arrows on her back maybe they know something I don’t know so I’m just gonna just go through the process and is herb observe so I went through and this was their funnel those five pages you guys making them five give me three million dollars a month so then I looked at that I said okay now I know what I need a crepe now I have my business model my business plan and so I took I’m going in front of a white board I’m a big white boarding guy like most of us and I whiteboard out okay this run you crate gonna be successful in this market it’s funny people always company with like their business plans in like 85 pages I’m like can you just doodle it on a napkin like this because that’s the business model for me that’s the business plan so there’s my business plan then logins click funnels we build all the pages so I modeled the look in the film layout I didn’t copy anything you’ll notice but I’ve modeled the look that will fill the layout the price points the structure so this is the first page of mine then I’m an order form with one three and four bottles just like they had and I had enough with six more bottles the exact same thing and that to other products and so the process looked very very similar okay now what’s cool is after we finish this page built this funnel out then we launched it and this little funnel making $20,000 a month to almost twenty thousand dollars a day you guys getting this I get is insane how easy it is people like me people like there’s there’s people out that are already doing this you’ll have to reinvent the will so if I was working and then we model it okay and the coolest thing about this for me is my total investment to get over a million dollars with the funnel axe from all these people seeing exactly what they’re doing was under a hundred bucks I said to be willing to pull my wallet alright I credit card on my wallet and buy the product see what happen okay I want sure do you really quick video this is where my friends drew canole and his partner Jamel they own a company called organifi and after I launch myself but they were about to launch a new one like what do we do how do we do and I was like you should just copy me and so this isn’t really quick like 30-second video of him explaining what they did to watch organifi checkouts video so real quick backstory I had a chance to go out and spend a little while with these guys in their company and they were about to launch a new supplement and and then I Hey look at our funnel which we do and I was like just copy mine works really good I love for you kind of talk about what happened when you guys did your funnel and then some of the results have happened since then yeah I’d like to reimpose his point about just cloning and copying and modeling what works so we are a digital product company we have information products coaching products and when we were doing about a million a year and I managed all the sales funnels in sales optimization and we were gonna come out with a physical product line and we were like you know who’s done this before who’s been really successful we reached out to Russell he helped us model exactly nurse’ll actually it’s funny because I’m looking at well you might a little bit and I had the exact same reaction the first upsell that we have in place is more of the same thing that they just bought and we were like that doesn’t make any sense so we sold them a bottle of our new product called organifi our first one-time offer was three more bottles after they already bought that and the take rate was like twenty or thirty percent then we thought you know a Russell actually mentioned you know we should implement subscription on everything so we had three options we modeled exactly Russell’s first sales page one bottle three bottles for bottles model dis pricing 47 129 149 exactly the same sorry for stealing everything but you know it works yeah and then once we implemented all the pieces we in actually like a week which is crazy we matched his results we’re doing am I allowed to say the numbers right yeah here yeah who wants yours numbers yeah oh here’s numbers is here for the first day that we opened up the gates we did 12,000 in sales the second day we did 34,000 the third day we did 36,000 and and that was just you know opening the gates in every single day after that we’ve done around 15 to 20,000 because of the way that the funnels are structured so it’s uh it’s really exciting and I we owe a lot to Russell I mean he came out he helped us with our funnels he he broke down everything we’re doing wrong everything and right and showed exactly what they did and we just copied it and it works South awesome game around to applaud alright now it was cool is this happened a while ago so fast forward so year he said that before they launched this funnel their million dollars a year it was crazy year number one after he launched his funnel unfortunately we didn’t 10x their business we 20x today 20 million dollars not funnel year one and it’s grown since then so you guys are one funnel away from the next year company I promise you that every single one you guys like it’s just deer that close so who do funnels work for again they work for all of the different business we talked about agencies freelancers info products ecommerce coaching consulting network marketing local business with b2b lead generation blogging and Philly’s nonprofits if you’re skinny started this is the way to start okay let me go through some of you guys are like I don’t see how this works for me somebody has an example so if you run an agency or your freelancer this is an example of something one of our friends they live in the Philippines and I have a lot of Filipinos work to be doing different projects and the average Filipino they’re like what they make per month is a couple hundred dollars okay the lady that runs the site she is a almost the point where she’s about to pass a hundred thousand dollars in sales getting people for her agency through this thing she’s one of the richest people there now right okay all by using a very simple thing we were generating leads then the video sells them and they can assign for her agency okay if you’re selling it for me how many has higher selling information products of any sort okay if you’re selling formation products this is remain full product funnels okay this is where I sell my books we have sell our audio books courses things like that okay this funnel um in the last like eight months it’s sold over a hundred thousand copies of my book and drove thousands of thousands of thousands of people into click funnels okay so if you’re selling information products you should funnel hack this funnel this is the process having yet to sell physical products ecommerce related stuff okay this is a one of a tray Llewellyn’s one of our members he had a couple Shopify store selling bunch stuff and one of his Shopify stores was selling flashlights and it was one of his duds it wasn’t working and he was moving offices they had a whole bunch like a whole closet full of these flashlights he told him those guys like just throwing up on click like build a funnel just launch it see what happens he took this through DuPont click funnels shifted from like an e-commerce store sent storefront like by the flashlight upsell battery packs funnel this coaching funnel it cost me on average dinner he lead about thirty to forty dollars to generate a lead and I and then on the back end and make about fifteen hundred hours for everyone’s leads that happen okay this little funnel is a side business I have on the side I’ve got one sales person who calls those application leads okay and does over two and a half million dollars a year we’ve got I could show you man probably forty or fifty chiropractors probably four or five hundred gym owners who are building simple funnels like this that are blowing up gyms like crazy blowing up the chiropractor place like it’s very very simple and very easy to do in local markets so you almost easier there than anywhere else okay how many I was looking just for more leisure in the b2b you just want more leads coming into the door this is really powerful a b2b lead funnel that’s really awesome as well if you’re blogging this one my friend she’s a blogger and she’s like well I’m a blogger I make money doing that kinda stuff how would funnels work I’m like well build a funnel selling something else so now she guys all deal from the blog into her funnels she launched his first funnel during Christmastime to like twenty or thirty thousand dollars in the first weekend again and then anyone who’s doing non profit this is our first non profit who hit the two comma Club he’s got like eight different funnels he’s driving people in and he is he runs he’s Christian nonprofit camps for kids and he is crushing he’s out for five diesel nonprofit funnels he’s driving people through again and if you any of you guys does anyone here in the audience run trips we take people to go hunt for Bigfoot nobody this dude literally does that he’s got a click funnels page he’s right and I thought this was a joke I thought it was told like like a spoof thing but because I’m include I can like look down and see what people are actually doing he did eighteen thousand dollars in last few months selling trips to go hump Bigfoot with him I don’t care what you guys are selling I promise you there’s a funnel for you that we can take implement your business and blow it up okay all right so where do you find a good funnel and how do you know the funnels are actually making money you don’t want to funnel hack someone who’s broke right run a funnel hack the winner so this is right be number one I go to a website called Clickbank calm Clickbank is amazing because they have over a hundred thousand successful sales funnels okay everything from fitness to finance to business to everything in fact there’s even this one right here this is a funnel of teach people how to build chicken coops which I thought this again was a joke and I contacted the dude and he showed me his numbers they are killing at TCBY both chicken coops so I don’t care if you’re selling anything from cars to business to weight loss to chicken coops there’s a funnel and Clickbank you can you can model and you got to click playing the very top there’s button says marketplace you click on the marketplace and then it takes you to page right here the cool thing about marketplaces that categorizes things based on industry so over here on left hand side you say look I’m an investing business finance gardening like whatever you want you click on the category and then it when it does an archive or then it shows you on the page all the funnels that are in there but it categorized the based on which funnels making the most today okay so if you like I’m in finance what’s this boom boom that fast I’m like these are the funnels are making the most money right now okay it’s right now this when I did health and fitness and I went to the top of health and fitness and number one there is a website called Venus factor okay so then I go to Venus factor comm whatever the number one is for you and this is where I have to do it all good entrepreneurs half become good at doing I put my wallet out of my pocket and I buy their product case my photo fat I funnel hack to Venus factor and it’s these four pages actually one step back for one second when I found Venus factor Clickbank is actually in Boise as well Clickbank and click funnels are both in Boise I don’t know why it’s kind of fun though find a chance to go out to dinner or to lunch with the owner and the CEO of Clickbank and I’m always curious and I asked him at lunch I was like hey I have a question for you venous factors number one right now in the marketplace and like what like how much money are they making he tell me he was like I can’t tell you that you know that I’m like I know but let’s just say you were to tell me and like if I just guessed you give me like not and there’s somebody that he’s like I can’t tell you man like that so I can’t do it I’m like okay well um I had a friend that was number one and weight in weight loss in the space about a year and half earlier ice okay so and so was there and when he was done one spot there in about fifty thousand dollars a day which I thought was insane and I asked my said I said they close to that is the more than that less than I just give me a ballpark he smile he said they’re doing more than double that what hundred thousand dollars a day these factors making Ken so then I come over here again I final hack the product and that’s it one two three four those four pages are making them a hundred thousand dollars a day was that worth my thirty seven dollar investment to buy their product if I’m the weight loss industry heck yeah but even if I’m not let’s say I’m selling any other kind of information products in the world it’s like this is valuable information right I can find out what they’re selling how their son what the price points are working right now I can see everything okay so step three is I buy their product I funnel Hackett said number four now I go in from the whiteboard I sketch it out page number one’s looking like this this will the price point is nice page two page 3 page 4 now I know what I need to create now I got a business my now I can go and actually do something I’m not just guessing and hoping and hoping I can drag and I can drop it I can move it over here if I want to edit I click right here on the little gear icon it gives me a bunch of cool things I can do to edit like for example I can change the color if I want I can move it I can change different themes I can make animated stripes if I want you can also come here and I can change the width let’s say I want to be at 30% or no I actually want to be 90% but just simple like anybody can do this you literally just pushing some buttons dragging and dropping moving things around next I’m gonna show you I can click right here I can add a countdown clock by one I scroll down to all the different elements find one that says countdown clock and that quick I can throw a countdown clock I just add this countdown clock but as you can see it’s kind of dark is blocks gonna click right here and click on themes there’s a whole bunch of different designs I can make for my countdown clocks I’m scroll down to one that I like to click a button and boom that fast we now have a countdown clock and again if I don’t like it here I can go and I can drag it I can move it over here if I want or if I decide I don’t like countdown clock I can delete that as well and that’s how simple it is to build anything you want here sighted click funnels now for this example I’m gonna come back here this is the video that we made with Tony be able to three million visitors a month right now Cain’s another funnel so people ask me how do they make 100 grand a day Russell Mike forgetting like three million people month on the website I sent that Harvey that many people and then what’s cool if you scroll down a little bit they have a section that says the top referring websites who’s referring them all the traffic and looking I’m like this is so interesting I look at the number one is live guru comm number two is natural news.com where throughs Newsmax calm they kind of go down from there and I’m looking at Mike I don’t know what life guru thumb is I’ve never seen that before and from that little green bar looks like I don’t like a third of their traffic’s coming from theirs to me a million people a month are coming from my Fuhrer calm I didn’t know what it was so I went to life grew calm and I came in as just blog and I’m so confused to blog about like finding love and being happy and losing weight and all the stuff I’m like that’s weird and looking around all sudden I see this banner out of the bottom it said five foods not to eat in the picture of a banana I was like huh so I clicked on it and guess where it took me Venus factor calm really cool then you go back to similar web and people scroll down a little further it’s talks about all this flavor ties there’s a big button that says show the ads I call us – show me or number three it’s actually working right so that’s kind of how it happens so if this happens I know right I know one of two things number one I know exactly where they’re advertising and I more – I know exactly what they’re saying to get people to click on the ad to come into the funnel okay now you’ve been paying attention so I’ve talked about so far if we have all this information where they’re advertisements saying what do you think we should do it was just coffee yet no we shouldn’t coffee shimano it works you’re close okay we’re gonna model the ads model where they’re how works K so for me the next step is going in my banner ads design so when I do that I’m gonna model the message I’m gonna model the design them in tomorrow the sizes the place I go to get my banner as designs website called $20 banners calm and it’s gonna show there’s always some insight here oh so how much the banner that’s cost there are you serious like it’s called twenty or better speak I don’t know what else to do for you people anyway so your $20 banner calm you show them the banner ads the people you’re trying to final hack say I need something similar I don’t want to copy but something similar so I went there 20-hour banners are showed on this and then boom for twenty bucks they made me an ad that looks very very similar and once again notes I didn’t copy anything right they had a pretty girl I have a pretty girl eight a purple headlight I had a purple headline that’s my own purple headline I instill it iced modeled the look and the feel in the layout because they proven for whatever reason on that website the people that are clicking they click on that so I’m not gonna try to reinvent the wheel I’m going to model it okay and then after had the banner I’d done then I go back to the exact same website that they’re buying ads on and I buy ads on as well how many I just had a little ha moment right there okay now there’s there’s a lot of ways to drive traffic into funnels and you should be doing all of them right now for me like most of the ways drive traffic they were complicated and hard and they take technical people right when I first got started with Google ads and I started I tried to do Google as it was so confusing I was trying stuff and I just it was weird okay and luckily Google him and slapped everyone like all thank heavens on to learn it the next thing was señor h1 tags and title tags and linking all sorts of stuff and Google came and slapped it like five or six times and caked everything out I was like oh thank heavens then face that came around face looks easier but it still like above my head John on my team who’s actually right down here he actually runs the Facebook cats cuz he’s smart to figure I can’t figure it out this strategy right here you guys this is something I can do all I do is like where are my competitors getting all their traffic from oh this website I call the Doodlebug hey man my competitors are all my ads on your site he’s like I know I’m like can I buy an ad as well he’s like yeah they don’t care they just want the money but how much does the cost she tells me that how much it cost I sent him some money I’ve emailed a picture of my banner ad and within 30 seconds my ad is being displayed on the very same website okay all of a sudden percentage of all that traffic was going to my competitor site starts coming into Maya now instead and if I’m gonna pay more guess what they’ll do they’ll kick him out okay that is the key you guys alright I have a question for you guys let’s say you follow this funnel hacking process right you found a funnel that works you add you model then you made your own version you didn’t copy be modeling made your own version then you found out where these guys are getting all their traffic from and then all you do is you go the exact same website they’re getting traffic um you model it do you think that they’re having success you can have success as well yeah okay and some of you guys are looking at this you’re looking like the stager and Venus factor right like they’re making $100,000 a day how many a scene you’re like I just don’t know if I could do that okay that’s scary right hundred grand a day I keep me I’m like I don’t know if I could do this that’s a lot but here say if you do this process right when we model works right and let’s say you
