welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody welcome back to Funaki radio this is gonna be a fun little episode where I was talking I want to talk to you a little bit about some of the things I learned when I was with Dean grazioso and Russell right before 10x and the crazy things that Russell blew up on stage at 10x was just insane we started to actually what happened was Russell and John parks in and flying down to spend a day spending time basically with Dean Graciosa and talking about some of the different things he’s doing his business 7f we’re doing in ours and I’m really just kind of sharing back and forth and one of the things we were sitting there at the deans conference table talking about stuff that he mentioned and I want to make sure you guys understand this and use this in your own business and that is the principle of who not how and it’s something I’ve seen happen so often it’s we use it a ton here at clickfunnels and its really been one of the main things that has helped us grow at the pace that we have most importantly though I’ve seen it in the lives of others where when they focus more on the who and not the how it’s when their that’s how their business is scale so fast so let me give you kind of a little backstory here and that is these days due to the fact that you’ve got Google and you’ve got YouTube and all this other kind of stuff massive massive search engines where you literally can spend all the time and the energy you want to go out and learn really almost how to do anything in the world you want to do if you want to spend the time in fact one of my favorite songs is actually from Macklemore 10,000 hours and he basically says you know the greats weren’t great because at Birth they would they could paint the Great’s were great because they paint a lot and my only reason saying that is a lot of times people think what I need to do is I need to master my craft I need to spend all the time on how and I’m gonna learn how to do this I’m gonna learn how to do social media I’m gonna learn how to create a funnel I’m gonna learn how to go ahead and drive traffic I’m gonna learn how to do SEO I’m gonna learn how to and to become a massively amazing copyright in fact I’m also going to learn how to edit my own videos and so all of a sudden as an entrepreneur we get this idea that we have to go out we have to learn how to do absolutely every single thing ourselves and the only thing that does is creates a ton of angst frustration and slows down our process as take a look when Russell was building clickfunnels one of the things he looked for and you have to understand that when Clint Falls came around wasn’t Russell’s first time trying to build clickfunnels he tried three other different times by hiring different outsource developers and trying different things and it never ever worked it wasn’t until he brought in the who which was taught Dickerson who knew how to do it and they had an exchange of value back and forth as far as Russell handling the marking side Tod handling the dev side that’s what ended up creating and building click funnels was having the right who not the how another example recently is we’re in a situation towards the end of the year where Steven Larson wanted to go and we’ve been working with Russell for the last year and a half and really became Russell’s right-hand guy when it came to funnels and building funnels and we were joking around the other day about how literally Russell and Stephen could be talking and they weren’t even finishing each other’s sentences they got to the point so good were they were literally finished each other’s thoughts where very few words would ever actually exchanged between the two of them they go okay got it you got it I got it you okay go go go and it literally became that quick between the two of them well it got to the point where Stephen has always had this desire to kind of go out and do his own type of thing and it was mutually beneficial for him to go out and do that so all of a sudden we’re in a situation where we no longer had Stephen here who is going to be helping build photos with that okay we got to find someone else to build funnels and so we went out and hired different people now and brought in Nick to help build funnels but what happened was it created this new situation to where it was like listen how much time as we look at trying to scale click funnels from where we’re at right at the end of 2017 with just over 50,000 customers how in the world are we gonna get to a hundred thousand customers by the end of 2018 and one of the main things we realized is the only one that’s gonna happen is by Russell doing less of the actual funnel building even though part of that is his love and his passion everything else there’s other things as the CEO and co-founder he needs to focus on so we ended up bringing in James P Friel who is just a genius at Trello and he’s amazing at yeah it really bringing together systems and so one of the main things he’d spend a lot of time with Russell doing is going through the different things that Russell was doing and thinking okay who can we now hire and bring in to do this who can do the copy who can do the graphics who can do some of the funnel building who can do some of this and we created this amazing internal agency out of necessity to find a way of replacing Stephen and also freeing more of Russell’s time up and it was extremely painful at first kind of working through it and everything else like any change is but the amazing thing was all of a sudden we started finding out there was a lot of who’s out there who knew things extremely well who were great at it but more importantly the cohesive group together created this gel that basically all of a sudden things started to to go at a much faster pace so now we were looking at the saying okay how much time would it take to to rebuild a funnel and get it out there or to create a new one and this whole agency model has been facilitated because of James being in the office and the irony was all of a sudden it was you know fast forward two months and James came in the office and saw Russell basically stretching out his back on one of the foam rollers he has in his office there and Russell was like this is really really a weird time for me and James like what do you mean he goes this is the first time where things are working without me having to do them and it was like this huge epiphany like oh my gosh if I hire and I bring in the right who it actually allows me to to get more done and it allows you because now what Russell gonna do is focus on his unique ability and his strengths which he has a ton of and that allows him then the ability to actually help us take clickfunnels to level we’re trying to go my only reason to mention that is I want you to make sure that you understand as an entrepreneur the key here is the who more so than the how don’t spend all your time and energy trying to create how am I to do this how that just find the right whoo and so taking you back to where we were at dean’s office Dean was we were talking about a couple of different strategies as far as YouTube and Dean’s like okay so let’s see we can either learn we can learn YouTube or you know what who’s the best YouTube guy out there that I can hire and it was just that epiphany of forget trying to learn and forget to your team trying to do it just go out and bring in the best hire someone who else who already knows it and let them come in now I know what a lot of you guys are probably sitting there thinking is well Dave that takes money and it’s not dripping right now I don’t have that and so it’s just me trying to do everything I can myself I get that I’ve been there I know exactly how that feels one of the key things though I can tell you the very first thing any of you need to do is take a look at your time and the first thing you need to hire is an executive assistant you have to have an admin person they your time is worth so much more than the little tiny stuff that you’re doing and that that who will allow you to really focus on your business and it really doesn’t cost you as much as you think it does it’s by far the first investment in yourself that you have to make the second thing then is to take a look at who else you can bring in that Ash can do things that you can either one share in some of the profits with or who you have other things of value that you can provide to them and what I mean by that is there’s a tape example weep with clickfunnels we have a situation where we’re always you know Ryan our CTO and Todd our co-founder are always out looking for additional developers and one of things we learned years ago was an a player is worth literally a thousand to ten thousand times more than a B player not just in in what they bring it’s the way they think it’s the way they get things done it’s the speed at which things get done it’s the cohesiveness they have with other a players it’s a process of a master my it’s the craziest thing and I’ll do a podcast just on a player’s in a different time but realize the key here was bringing on a players well first of all a players cost a lot but the other thing we thought is how are we going to attract some of these eight players who some of our dev guys have worked that Facebook and Google and Yahoo and have had these crazy crazy you know careers and so Ryan said you know what one of the most appealing things for a lot of these deaf guys that we brought in yes the monies has to be there has to be somewhat comparable but what we were able to find actually is we actually were able to pay some of these deaf guys less than they were making before because we provide them opportunity one of those opportunity was actually to work from home they don’t have to go in some of these guys basically working up in the Bay Area we’re commuting an hour and a half to two hours each and every single day back and forth and away from their families we’re here they I could actually stay remote and they could work from home and so that was a value add to them the others some of these deaf guys they wanted to basically work on something that had a massive impact they didn’t want to be working on the back end of Twitter where they were taking care of a couple little tiny pieces of code and that’s all they ever did and no one ever see the impact and so because of the impact that they actually could have on a platform like clickfunnels that could then go out and change Lilley provide freedom to entrepreneurs that’s what excited them so if you take a look at what you’re what you’re doing and the stuff that you’re bringing together a lot of times it’s not necessarily just the dollars it’s not always cash that people want you’ll find it’s amazing to me how much people will do for other types of things aside from cash sometimes it’s just they’re in a bad situation and they’ll take less money now just to be appreciated others it’s they they want to be able to be a part of something bigger than what they’re currently working on I mean there’s so many different things so just as you take a look at your business first thing I’d encourage you is first of all go out and get an admin it’s the most important it’s the most important decision any of you guys can make is you have to hire an admin person to take care of the set of stuff that you don’t need to be doing second of all after you’ve hired that admin person then take a look at what are some of the strengths that that you have and what are the areas that you may not even like to do even though you might be good at it but you don’t like to do that you could bring someone else in to do for you so just realize that when you’re looking at building your business focus more on the who and not the he’ll have an amazing day amazing time I hope to hear from you guys soon if you guys like what you’re hearing why please go to iTunes rate it leave and review I’d love to hear your feedback send me a personal message on Facebook if you’d like to do that as well but again we’d love to start seeing some more ratings and reviews that’s something I’ve never really pushed before I’m gonna start trying to get some more ratings and reviews out there so go to iTunes and Mia rating your review send me a Facebook message let me know what your liking let me know what you’re not liking and by all means I wish you all the best in your business and we were talking just the other day recently here at clickfunnels Russell I overheard him on a interview he was doing and the whole reason this was talking about this idea as far as the reason that clickfunnels exists is to give freedom to entrepreneurs and I’m gonna do a podcast later on the importance of freedom but just realize that’s the whole idea why clickfunnels exists and one of the best ways to get you freedom right now is to focus on the who and not the how you know one of the things that means a ton to me is the personal reviews that you guys leave on iTunes you won’t mind going out great this show let me know how I’m doing just go to iTunes click on the episode and rate it leave a comment I read all the comments I appreciate all the stars and everything different already left forming again I really appreciate it and it’s my way of finding out how I’m doing so if you don’t mind I’d really appreciate it and I again thank you so much for all that you guys do have a great day

On today’s episode Russell talks about the events and speakers from the first day of 2018 Funnel Hacking Live. Here are some of the coolest parts of day one:

-Seeing all the Two Comma Club winners, as well as the all the people who made 8 figures and their awesome awards.

-Finding out what Operation Underground Railroad is and how much money they were able to raise on their behalf.

-Being able to watch the documentary film about OUR, to inspire people to help.

So listen to this episode to be able to relive what happened the first day of Funnel Hacking Live, or be filled with regret if you missed it.

what’s up everybody its russell brunson welcome to market seekers podcast today i’m gonna recap day number one of four of the funnel hacking live event so the big question is this power arch Brewers like us who didn’t cheat and take on venture capital we’re spending money from our own pockets how do we mark it in a way the less Huskie our products and our services and the things that we believe in out to the world and yet still remain profitable the question in this podcast will give you the answers my name is russell brunson and welcome to marketing secrets what’s up everybody I hope you guys who were here for like a night with us made it home safely and that you had a great time the journey of last four days has been amazing I found a cool spot of quietness here but probably see people walking back and forth with their suitcases but hopefully that’s all right with you guys I just wanted to kind of over the next four days recap put on rockin live a lot of guys were there some you guys weren’t the crazy ones weren’t but all everybody else was there and those who crazy if not to come last time I know you’ve got your tickets for next time already coming if not depending on when you go funnel hiking live.com has tickets for next year but it’s me pull down either today or tomorrow so if you ever take yet go and get them for next year’s event but I wanted to kind of just spend a little time over the next four days going through some of the key takeaways key points and key ideas that happened at the event and so hopefully those you guys who who missed it will get some insights and you’d have more of a more reason to come next year so some of the things first off this year in in fun liking lives in the past they’ve been three days but for some reason four five months ago at like 2:00 in the morning had this idea that like to get everything done that I needed to do it had happened in four days and so we shifted it to basically three and a half day event and we’ll probably be in four days next year just to get all the cool stuff in we’re trying to plan it takes takes at least three and a half four days to change somebody’s life and so we’re trying to change three thousand-plus people’s lives that’s a lot of work but to kind of give you an end result of what happened they don’t kind of back back fill over the next few days this event was amazing we raised over a million dollars for operation underground railroad those who watched in the video I’m wearing this shirt that everybody got I’ll talk about that here in a minute number two we had 91 new people on stage you got to comic level wards which is amazing we’re up to 258 people now that have achieved that with 15 people who have made over ten eight figures ten ten digits eight figures eight figures over ten million dollars in a funnel who got their new ward which is huge plaques twice as big as the two comma Club one plus they got these rings that are like two carats of gold and four carats of diamonds so give those away which was insanely cool as well and and three thousand plus people were here and then we launched our new to Carmel Club X coaching program get people from zero to a million a million to ten and I’m not gonna I’m not gonna share the exact numbers of those who were there know that it was it was crazy 30 days ago a Grant Cardone event I got on stage and and did over three million dollars in sales in 90 minutes and this event we did again I’m not gonna give exact numbers but was over 10 million dollars in sales which is insane a new world record it was more than that it was it was crazy I’m not gonna sure the numbers not because I don’t mind sharing numbers more so because Grant Cardone is going to three thousand million dollars like cash in the bank account and in that time this was different because there’s two options there was eighteen hundred dollars a month or eighteen thousand dollars a year so if I was to say an exact number would have been stomper math which that’s the joke for another day but um it’s basically it was amazing and I’m excited for the over 650 plus people who decided to take that leap of faith and go on this journey over the next twelve months and in twelve months now my guess is the Mosul’s guys will be back on stage my goal for next year’s have 500 people 500 new people to get the two comma Club award and from that we’re gonna get dozens and dozens you get the the 8 figure award so it is it’s insane but one of the kinda recap so one of the main reasons why we decided to this extra day and probably 7 or 8 year months ago I’m not gonna I’m I consider all the details of the store but I got a call from somebody whoever respected my entire life who asked me if I would be willing to help with this project called Operation Underground Railroad I didn’t know what that was the time I remember I jumped on that night I started googling and searching and watching videos and I remember feeling in fact if he has watched on allatra TV that matter i’ve made a video and I said I feel like the direction of my life will be forever changed because of this and the other time we were planning for hockey live and like how can we how can we weave operation Underground Railroad in to funnel hiking lab-id what’s like what’s the process how do we do that and a few months later during a time a lot of prayer trying to figure out the best way to serve this audience and have our community to help them and I did that we needed to make a documentary and I was like well I don’t know how to make a documentary but I met a guy named Nick nantan a couple years earlier and I didn’t know him super well I just knew that he he’d won six Emmys done like 50 different areas and this voice in my head said call Nick and I got on you know Nick’s number so I messaged him on Facebook hey man I need to talk to you this is like five minutes after the after I heard the voice in my head say call Nick’s I’m like okay I’m doing what I’m told message Nick and and then I met and then got him unboxed her box and said hey man this is work I don’t know how but I think we need to make a documentary about operational gonna railroad are you in he’s like dude I’m 100% in I said the only the only the only thing is we have to do this by like a full rocky mile but we have to show it for like your life he’s like dude that’s not very much time like I know but it has to happen and he’s like alright we’ll make it work and so over the last and five months since that call he’s flown to Hades flown around the world filming documenting all this kind of things and unlocking live we had a chance to actually watch the documentary and so it was cool we can torque shade the day the event the very first presentation I had wasn’t what’s called funnel hackers we see things differently which was kind of the premise of the whole event we had a really cool video that I’m sure will post online here soon of just kind of a concept and I was sharing different people in our community who have changed people’s lives and their businesses I talked about Stacy and Paul who saved over 10,000 marriages I talked about Pamela Weibull who saved hundreds and thousands of doctors lives and doctors suicide I talked about any grace who’s helped all sort of people break the chains of alcohol addiction they talked about Tim Ballard who saved over a thousand kids from sex trafficking and so I shared that initial presentation they said tonight we’re gonna chance to watch this documentary together as a community and after I got off stage then Kaelin Pollan came on stage oh so good she came up and talked about how she’s built her cult shirt and man it was good her whole presentation was amazing and I’ve heard her talk about this before I’ve been studying her like crazy one thing she said I mean there’s so many good things one thing that I took away that was like she was talking about like you’re empowering people to become superheroes and to change their life and she talked about funnel swag about swag think that’s like their superhero cape like if you give them swag wearing your brand your logo your message your mission then they feel more empowered they’re literally every day putting on their superhero costume and I was like oh my gosh like you know we having a big believer in swag since funnel you know hopeful in Hawker movement began and you know we got tons tons a shirt but this year for example oh you are sure like this is one that I’m wearing right now like this is this is now part of my superhero costume like I put this on and I’m out there ready to save kids and it was cool we actually add a funnel swag store here if I’m liking live event this year which was the first time we ever done that and I think we’re gonna start going harder and just swag because I want everybody feeling more more empowered every morning when our community wakes up and they put on a funnel funnel hacker shirt or I see I build funnels I build follow up funnels all the swag we have to empower them it’s literally like your superhero costume and that was like one of amazing and thousands the mazing things that she said during her presentation man shoot I feel bad most the speakers had an thirty minutes to speak and I wish that her and everyone couldn’t gone longer but she spoke and then right after her then we had Natalie Hodson came up and Natalie she cracked him her first four slides like I’m Natalie Hodson this is like this is me I was broke then she flip the next slide this is me I peed my pants on live camera and then I made a to comment Club award at the end it was like boom boom boom it was like what and then she came back and told her story about vulnerability and how you know her was one of her most vulnerable times when she was she’s in the fitness industry and she’s recording a video and she actually peed her pants on camera and how embarrassing it was and she should have been probably should have hid that and said she notices my most vulnerable thing I’m gonna share this cuz no one else is willing to talk about it so she shared this thing she wrote an e-book teaching women how to strengthen themselves so they won’t have that same problems she had and I sold 60,000 copies were you booked in for months and became a two comma couple in with the $37 a book and it was just so cool let’s talk about power vulnerability and how do like real vulnerability not walk this point is coming in hardened anyway real vulnerability not like the the type that some people try put out there online and it was it was also amazing and so we stood we led with two of the most amazing women speakers we like in our community which were amazing and fun like Eli this should we had an almost half women were half of speakers were women my goals for next year’s have more than half of the speaker’s be women because our women are doing such amazing things I’m gonna let this lawnmower pass is that been the recording live podcast right without a mic anyway they both spoke and it was it was amazing I think he gave people faith and hope and understanding of how to build a community then how to open up yourself as the leader which is the hardest thing how to be vulnerable so many times we as leaders try to be so postured and perfect and trying to like put on a good face for people in the the realities that actually pushes people away more than it then it draws them to you and like actually breaking down your barriers and beam vulnerable truly vulnerable not not what does she call it she is something like Oh ever since the loss loss weight these pants make me look so these pants are so bad yeah that’s like fake vulnerability the true hole it really is like well I think she mentioned like I was a grocery store they I saw my ex-husband and and with his new girlfriend and it broke me down like that’s something truly vulnerable you can show that it has a bigger impact so Holton’s message was so awesome then afterwards then after they both spoke then we had I got on stage with Todd Dickerson my partner and basically brought him on stage and and I introduced operationally gone road we had Tim Ballard come up and Nick NAND both come up to talk about what they were doing and and they came up and we showed the trailer of the documentary which is you guys now should go see now I posted live you go to oh you are filmed or oh you are filmed org or RG starts hit that if you go there you can actually see the trailer and if you do go watch it please share it as well I’m trying everyone in our community share it but oh you are filmed or gonna watch the trailer and and everyone went crazy and I said you know this is the hard film to watch I’m actually seen yet tim has the city yet Nixon was who’s seen yet but if you guys wanna watch this type this one take a break we’re gonna go do our roundtables when you come back or arcing their speed network and make when you come back you can have a chance to to watch this together as community but is hard to do if you’re not able to come back I totally as well and so at that point Owen and I basically talked about how if a friend who was at the event unfortunate is only available to van but $250 they would get the recordings event and I would go go towards operation Underground Railroad twenty-five hundred dollars would save a kid and ten thousand dollars would save a kid and rehabilitate them and then they could also sign for monthly monthly if they wanted to go on a recurring donation keep helping long-term basic I told them I told everybody that Tata this is Todd’s that did a night before Todd said well if we match difference donation I’m like are you serious so we decided anybody who’d donated we would match their donation and so that was going to put out there and from that how much people went and started donating money which was so cool I think the first night we raised like two hundred and seven thousand dollars than with our matches four hundred thousand and so that we kept talking about that talking about that what’s cool somebody broke and they had to spend Hervey dating the bender speed-dating we’ve had a chance to network meet other vendors yeah we paid for dinner for everyone which is a big build of feed three thousand people i def we came a date and it was cool when we got a chance to network and hang out know each other which is cool and then that ended we invited people come back in to watch the documentary I would say we probably had conservatively eighty five percent of everybody came back which is really really cool and we watched the document together as a group and man I I cried for an hour straight I couldn’t even compose myself then we came on stage afterwards Nick and Tim and I and and and we can’t even man I can compose myself it was it was so hard and then the people asked questions a lot people needed closure after that obviously and what people open mics and ask him questions and he responded and it was just so so cool and then he gave people how to push like you want to donate to charity again we’re matching it don’t go and help I think that night we had raised over three hundred thousand with arm with which our match made over six hundred thousand at that point Todd and I right let’s see if we get million I think we can do a million and so we kept pushing that pushing that and before lunch the final day we were just below a million dollars they came on stage my you guys we were just below a million dollars somebody anyone also goes in donate if he has all donate $250 I’ve been I’ll give you according all pastors events as well and they wouldn’t did that everyone stepped up and we came back from from lunch we had just crossed the million dollar mark and it was cool and was crazy this is the best part of the story so the end of the documentary she does have a chance to see here soon that go to oh you are Phil morgue and go and register we’re gonna be doing a big huge live online premiere here of a soon you can go register and watch it with us together as a community but um when we went there at the end of the documentary so I’m trying to catch my thoughts at the end of documentary I don’t want to ruin it for you but basically two of the children that Tim rescued he was he’s been trying to adopt for the last like three and a half four years and he had just gotten a call before he flew to our event that they were able to go get him so he actually flew from our event to Haiti to pick up his children and so the last day right before Tony Robbins got on stage we we were able to Skype in Tim Ballard from his home so cool Skype him in he was with his tube the two new kids they just adopted and we got to see them meet them and then we had some of our operators who were there on on stage I haven’t come up and we got this huge ol check and we wrote that the total $1,000,000 13,000 whatever it was and when we presented to their team and also to to Tim and it was super emotional and amazing and what’s cool it’s Tony Robbins is their biggest donor right now he’s raised more of my name what else he actually went on a sting operation with them and went undercover and all sorts of crazy stuff so we did that and Tony came out right afterwards and was talking all about them and and the mission and so cool holding was amazing so I just wanted to give you guys a glimpse of that folks who missed it but I was dating amber one it was an emotional day I’m going to bed that night and I was like we knew started a new net it was me half a day we got that about midnight and I was just like okay it was an emotionally draining day how are you dude three more days of this but we did it was amazing so that’s the recap of Daniel and I just want to show that with you guys so those who weren’t here I had a chance kind of hear and see what happened I’ll let the rolling bag go by Stephen came to new to hear me but that was day number one and it was awesome so throughout this week I’m gonna share I’m here my kids that just need for the rest the week so I’m gonna each day I’ll kind of share each day kinda what happened two big takeaways no hogs but that was what happened day number one so for you guys right now I recommend biggest need right now is go to oh you are filmed or go watch the trailer go share it you can donate on the you page afterwards or share with people and when you guys do that it’ll get on a waiting list but when the big when the big event goes live when we go out document goes live you can actually see with us as a community which is gonna be super super fun so that’s it for today so again go watch go to oh you are film org w wo you are film org oh you are stands for operation Underground Railroad oh you are film org check out documentary opt-in for the to be on the list if you see the live documentary in the next few weeks when go live and please share on Facebook Instagram tell your friends your family everyone you know because this is a mission worth we’re talking about and we’re sharing I told everyone day one I said you know the biggest thing is that the slavery is existing here it’s happening in America it’s happening around the world and nobody even knows about it so my goal with this documentary is to shine the light on the darkness you know if you shine a light in a room full of cockroaches they’ll scourge that to the corners and they hide that’s we’re trying to do is to blow this thing up and shine a light on the darkness so the best way you can help them and this organization is to go to our film org and share that message right now and get ready for the launch of the documentary which is coming soon so maybe that stay number one you guys again I’ll recap each day each each each of the next things and I hope you guys love it so again thanks so much for everyone who’s here I hope you guys enjoyed it cannot wait to What I Learned at Grant Cardone’s 10X GrowthCon – Dave Woodward – FHR #208

What I Learned at Grant Cardone’s 10X GrowthCon – Dave Woodward – FHR #208

“Life is all about experiences”

Grant Cardone had over 9,000 people at his 2nd annual 10X Growth Con in Las Vegas. Russell Brunson spoke from stage and his $3 Million in 90 minutes has become a legend. In this episode, Dave talks about how investing in yourself and investing in others will help bring you to the next level.

Quotable Moments:

“When you pay for things, you actually get more out of it.” – People who get things for free, typically never do anything with the content they received.

“Those people who spend the most, get the most.” – If you are struggling trying to sell something at a certain price point, it is probably because you have never paid that price point.

“If you play your cards right, you could find yourself in a situation among some of the most powerful people in your industry.”

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody Wow just had a crazy crazy couple of weeks here a lot of travel and I want to talk to you about something a couple events and things I’ve been at and the things that I’ve learned so first one I want to talk to you guys about is Grant Cardone ins 10x Russell’s done an amazing podcast on this if you haven’t listened to it go to marketing secrets take a look at his podcast and understand all the crazy cool things that he ended up doing to basically sell three over three million dollars in 90 minutes that’s an episode I can’t trump at all basically whatever Russell said on that is by far the best way of saying it go ahead and listen to that one for sure what I want to talk to you guys about is a little bit different and that was one of the things that I was talking with Russell about as we were sitting there on the floor prior to his getting now getting ready to go speak and that was the earliest attendees paid the most and what I mean by that is let me guys set the stage here what happened was you’re sitting there in Mandalay Bay’s boxing arena a an arena that holds roughly when the entire arena is open it holds just on just over 10,000 seats but with the stadium the way was set up with the backdrop on the stage there was a seats for about 9,000 people and of those 9,000 people there was about 1500 that actually had seats on the floor so you’ve seen this before and a ton of other large venues where you’ve got three different tiers of seating and then you’ve got your floor seats well the entire place where the boxing room would would have been or where there was a basketball court or anything else all those were seats with one end basically being the stage and this huge amazing setup as far as monitors and screens and everything else well the way it was positioned is they had the stage there in front and then the first five rows were rows of tables and with chairs on each of those tables and really set up extremely and those seats were $15,000 each and then behind that was a section of seats and those chairs for the next about Oh probably 800 people were $10,000 and in the last set of chairs on the very far end but still on the floor were $5,000 and then if you were to take a look at from the floor and then started going up the price of the tickets like any other venue basically got less and less expensive the closer you got to the ceiling the fascinating thing for Russell and eyes we’re sitting there on the floor getting ready the very first day what happens is you’ve got Grant who comes down from the ceiling on basically a lift that like literally drops him down from the ceiling smoke is going crazy fireworks lasers everything music I mean it was just this rock concert type of event and he basically drops down from the ceiling hits the stage and things just go everyone just goes nuts well the first day there was you looked around and every single seat was packed the music prior to grant coming was the intensity and the tension it was from a psychological standpoint it was amazing the way it was set up to create an uncomfortable setting so that people were weren’t talking to people much all you were just kind of listening as the videos everything else was playing and the seat you literally you could not get another body in there it was that jam-packed the crazy thing was the very next day at the very same time when we walked in because Russell was one of the very he was the second speaker we walked in and all of a sudden the only people who were all the seats were filled were all the people on the bottom floor those people pay ten thousand fifteen thousand or five thousand dollars those seats every single one of those were filled and then as you started going up the from the floor up towards the ceiling the seats at the top those were all the empty ones and it was fascinating to me because I was sitting there going you know what that people are gonna get the most out of this event are actually those who people who paid the most to be here and it’s an epiphany I’ve had so many different times throughout my life and that is when you pay for things you actually get more thick more out of it and it’s been really kind of a funny thing I’ve I’ve had this conversation with a lot of people that is so often people want everything for free and the irony to me is those people who pay who get things for free typically never do anything with that content they never use the content those people who pay for it those the ones who actually spend the time the effort the energy to actually implement what they got if you take a look at some of the things that you’ve received for free you just don’t appreciate it you don’t do much with it so I was had this opportunity a few years ago of spending a lot of time with my boys at different different venues and events one of those things I’m I’m for me life is all about experiences I’m not huge person as far as gifts I’m not a person like I don’t really care sparse even a lot of gifts but what matters to me is the experience and so for me I’m all about making sure my kids and my wife and I have experiences because you remember those types of things well buddy of mine when we lived down in San Diego err he had season tickets to the Lakers game and so I took my oldest son Chandler – we had some extra tea tickets and so he went to the game well the first time his seats were extremely I mean we were four rows up from the floor watching the Lakers game and she has like oh my gosh dad these are this is how you should see a game I’m like Chandler these are a little more expensive then those seats you see way up there and the next time we went we actually end up having box seats and chanting oh my gosh actually bring food right to you this is this is how you should see a game and so was these great experiences where I was teaching my son as far as these are the types of things this is why you work for so much things so you can have these types of experiences and share them with other people later on he end up going to a Lakers game with some of his buddies and they get young kids basically ended up getting the least expensive tickets they could find way up in the rafters and came home is like dad I could I actually could see the game better at our TV at home that I could see it in there he goes it was a completely different experience my only reason to tell you that is as you take a look at things in your life there’s certain thing where I would encourage you guys to spend more one of those places is you need to make sure that you’re buying product especially if you plan on selling a product there is this my personal feeling there is a law in the universe that basically says you won’t be able to sell anything that you haven’t paid that same equivalent price for a classic example this was Tara justice and Williams they ended up coming to the funnel hacking live our very first one we had in Las Vegas and while they were there they basically told themselves listen we’re gonna leave our wallets in our purse we’re leave them in a room because we don’t want Russell taking any of our money so sure enough they left it there they came down and before the break at lunch they had already gone back to the rooms got their wallets and they had been invested $25,000 into Russell’s highest inner circle mastermind coach coaching meeting and it was fascinating to me because I remember meeting them at the inner circle later and hearing their story said you know the crazy thing was we never ever thought anyone would ever pay $25,000 for coaching and I was Justin said I could never charge that kind of money until I actually had paid for and invested out he says as soon as I invest it and then Russell told me during one of his coaching calls that I should charge $25,000 for a real estate coaching program I told Russell I said there’s no way in the world anyone’s gonna pay for that and he goes well Justin you just paid me 25k for inner-circle literally within about a week he ended up doing a webinar and ended up signing up eight people at twenty five thousand dollars just because he had paid for himself so right now if there’s a situation where you’re trying to sell a certain price point and you’re struggling I can tell you probably what’s happening you’ve never paid that price point for that goes back to the same thing we ended up gosh now it’s been two years ago Russell I worked down at me with Dean Graciosa at a time when Dean Joe were thinking about starting this 100k group and living without even finding out what the what was gonna be in the course or anything else Russell they said well Dean if you’re gonna be doing I’ll I’ll be your first person to sign up and Dean’s like really yeah that sounds great so that was the day before genius Network where we were then meeting with Joe and Joe ends up pitching for the first time 100k group 200k group twos 25k group we’re sitting there a genius Network in his office where there’s you know 60 people I said yeah and by the way Russell’s Brunson’s already signed up he’s already paid the honor game the whole reason Russell ended up spending a hundred thousand dollars to get involved in him Joe and Dean’s hunter K group is because he knew the time would eventually come where he will then charge $100,000 for a mastermind or inner circle but he could never actually charge it if he hadn’t paid it for it himself the irony behind all of it is in the last two years Russell’s been to that one time and I’ve gone the other time so we’ve been to this under K group twice and so basically we spend 150 thousand dollars to go to those events but realize the key here is you’ve got to be willing to invest if you’re not willing to invest you’re not gonna get anything else out of it it’s been really funny for me as I’ve been looking at seeing some of these Facebook threads how people come to follow back in live and I’ve just I’m laughing because they’re going man make sure you leave your what are you can do to make sure you don’t buy anything there and I’m like you’re going to an event and you’re not gonna buy I was I just I was like really why would you do that you’re you’ve already spent you’ve already invested whatever the ticket price was plus the travel plus everything else to go to the event and you’re already telling yourself you’re not gonna invest further in your education I can tell you there is no better return on your investment on any investment you can make anywhere in the world including Bitcoin more so than an investment in your own self and so it’s been funny as I’ve been sitting there watching it you know I’ve seen some people go well make sure you lock your wallet and your and your person or your purse up in your room or you know what that’s not gonna be good enough you can actually have to duct tape it together so you can’t even open it and another person said no actually I’m what I’d recommend is that you actually FedEx your wallet home to your mom and then have her FedEx it back the day before you fly out so you can have your ID I’m like okay this just cracks me up where you’re gonna be it’s just that mentality and sure some of it may have been in jest but I know other people are so afraid to invest in themselves I’m like you guys do not understand the value that’s there I remember it’s it’s been such a fun thing for me to see when we’re at Grant cardones event because literally the very first thing he telling people from stage after he came down out of the sky out of the ceiling their land on the stage starts talking everybody was I hope all of you guys came here with the intent of investing in yourself and spending some money on some of the speakers products literally within the first five or ten minutes that was his pitch and realized the whole idea behind this is you’ve got to be willing to invest that kind of time and money into it it’s also one of the things I was we spent a whole bunch of time and money as you’re gonna see here at photo hacking live investing in awards I have these two comic club plaques that we’ve now sent out over two hundred fifty six of them they each cost is about 250 to 300 bucks for each of every single one that we send out and for us do we get anything out of it personally no but what happens is as you invest in those people who you’re willing to serve it comes back we have seen more people use those two comical plaques in their own marketing promotions in their facebook ads in all these different types of things and we see it out there and all of a sudden people start asking about it you’re gonna see a new more rolled out of funnel hacking live which is our eight figure Award for those people done over ten million and I remember when I was creating this I was talking to people the offices are like Dave that is huge you can’t go that big I’m like you know what it’s ten million dollars and so we’re sitting there so it’s about one and a half times the size of our to comma Club plaque and then in addition to that we thought well what else could we really do and so each of those plaques they cost about 500 bucks but the real thing was I thought you know if a person has invested has worked that hard in their business and they’ve now hit the ten million dollar range so basically you get a gold plaque for hitting a million dollars at a to comma a platinum plaque is what they get when they hit ten million I thought what else would be really cool to add to that well it happened to be right during the Superbowl I thought you know what these guys all fight like crazy and they invest their entire life for a ring I thought what have we end up getting people championship rings so fortunately uh fortunately the rich the partners were all in on this and so we’re spending literally over a hundred thousand dollars in gold and silver I’m sorry in white gold and diamonds anything else for these crazy rings that right now at this point I’ve ordered 15 rings and we now have two more people who qualify so I forget those as well but realize my only reason and telling you that is as we invest back into so the one thing is to invest for yourself because that by investing yourself you’re going to find that you actually get more out of it the other thing is as you invest back into those people who are your customers and your clients you will find that always comes back to you as well so I’d encourage you to kind of take a look at both both places I one of the dinners I had a TNC was with a dear friend of mine Dan Martell great guys been in the SAS industry for years super super smart guy ended up building a company called clarity FM which he sold to Mark Cuban for a huge huge exit on the back end and made him a Multi multi multimillionaire but one of things Dan was talking about was these crazy awards and things that we’ve been doing since that is the sign of a unicorn Dave I’m like what he goes yeah you’ve heard this whole idea as far as this unicorn SAS company and and how they are actually able to create and provide this kind of value since it’s these weird crazy things that by doing it provides so much value in the industry that it changes the entire industry and we’re starting to see that already I’m starting to have people have received our two comical plaques now creating a comma Club or those types of awards for their people as well so just realize first and foremost you have to be willing to invest in yourself there’s no greater ROI out there second of all those people basically spend the most get the most and the last thing I tell you is man make sure that you’re investing back into the people who serve who you’re serving and who trust you and everything else and you’ll see that blessed is their lives as well as yours so have an amazing night and we’ll talk to you soon you know one of the things that means a ton to me is the personal reviews that you guys leave on iTunes you wouldn’t mind going out rate this show let me know how I’m doing just go to iTunes click on the episode and rate it leave a comment I read all the comments I’ve appreciate all the stars and everything everyone already left for me again I really appreciate it and it’s my way of finding out how I’m doing so if you don’t mind I’d really appreciate it and I again thank you so much for all that you guys do have a great day

cool principle called story selling you guys got to check this out if you want more of these kind of tips make sure you click the subscribe button ring the bell get the notifications you guys are gonna love this content stay tuned and watch this crazy cool interview with Nick Nana hey everybody I’m so excited is there you have the opportunity like the coolest guy I know when it comes to film and movies books guys – Nick knack Nick welcome to the show thanks for having Dave I’m super excited to be on the show heard a lot about it and excited to talk with you for a few minutes ah this again for those who may not know Nick Nick is a five-time Emmy award-winning director public he also basically is a best-selling author wall street you’re a best-selling author of the book called Corey selling I’ve stolen that title so many different times but I want to give you props Nick because it obviously came from you so I think so and I thank you hopefully we can give you hopefully I can share much like many of the other guests and I’m sure you share to the things that I think have helped me to accomplish what I’ve achieved so far hopefully I’ve got a lot left in me but at least if I can shorten the road for some people I’d be happy to do that I mean Nick five-time award-winning director and producer I’m just shocked I mean how how did how does it happen yeah there’s a lot of uses for that I will tell you the funny answer which is also true I knew I’ve been working I’ve been a songwriter for a long time and I knew that winning a Grammy just wasn’t getting it closer fast enough so I googled how to win an Emmy and I followed those instructions that is the truth a lot of things had to happen for that to work but first of all I at least did my research to figure out how viable is this right but the real truth is that and again that is the truth but decided to go deeper you know I decided I wanted to make a short short film in about 2010 about a little boy with Down syndrome who played t-ball in Floyds Knobs indiana i’m as dad in the airport between speaking gigs where it was and it was a great story but i you you know I knew it wasn’t gonna go very far being published in the local paper I thought was a great story I thought I had that the you know the word viral was just starting to get really overused then it still is I was like maybe I can help this story is just cool so I just thought I was gonna make a short film about this this story and I I did what I still do now in a way I was actually at my mastermind we held a mastermind for several years before the Grammy Awards that would take some clients and had a lot of big-name people in there that you would know I had a lot of people there you wouldn’t know but all great business people great marketers just good people and they were going through the Grammys and we did a mastermind together and I said hey I’m just gonna spend my time sharing the story with you and and then I’ll tell you afterwards what I want to do so I shared it with my reddit you know everyone’s everyone’s crying like babies it’s a it’s a happy story but one of those you just can’t help but tear up and so I said look here’s the deal I’m gonna go I want to go make a short film I’ve never done this before but I never you know you guys all trust me if you’ll give me a little bit of money you can be a producer if you give me a little more money you mean executive producer and this is not a money-making venture because everyone I ever knows tried to make money in movies loses all their money so I want to do that so just do it if you feel like it’s something you want to just learn as I go and you think it’d be cool to be part of telling this story so interestingly that the biggest name people in that room were not the most generous the people who were just you know running great law firms or whatever else were very generous not that there’s anything telling and that it was just interesting to me and so I went a couple months later and I flew into Floyds Knobs Indiana and we filmed and we made a short doc and we actually did a whole campaign around it I decided to talk to um you know it was a Bill Harrison and and some of those guys done said hey everyone does his product launches what if we did a product launch maybe once a year that wasn’t for us it was just like for charity and they’re like that’d be awesome so we set up this thing at the time called marketers for good if Sebald now it’s called entrepreneur national and we set up this whole thing we got a bunch of people to blast it through the list and we raised not as much as I would like boo raised the money for kids with special needs and you can still see that movie at Jacob’s turn calm so I was my first film we got two Emmy nominations I won an Emmy for directing that film so I figured I shouldn’t stop and then now I just am directing my 60th film that you know about actually with with the help of you and Russell and and clickfunnels in your community and so so I’ve been I sort of um really interestingly I would say this there’s been so many things I’ve done in my life that you know now looking back they were really hard I think I think that we all have to go through some knocks to figure out our our real gifts in life where we should be our Dan Sullivan cause unique ability and like you got to have a lot of experiences to come to that but I will just say for those of you out there searching for something it I almost for the first time in my life I almost feel guilty about filmmaking because it comes so naturally and it’s because I believe it’s not because of a talent in the way you think of like I direct movies right and so my family is like oh so you like you shoot the cameras I’m like now they’re like oh so you like anything I’m like now like so you write the script like now they’re like so it’s sort of like office space you know so what exactly would you say you do around here Nick so I really I just kind of put the team together and I get the stories put together and ultimately it’s I’m responsible for making sure it comes out with sort of the feel and the look and the heart that I wanted to but just rest assured that you’re probably not gonna get a whole lot better at things you really suck at unless you really want to which is different so look for the things that your skill sets can be used in and for me what end up happening was my ability to put together people in in groups we’ll call it and give them amazing experiences like going the Grammys or whatever else has has converted now into the majority of the films that I make are me basically taking a group of people on a journey with me and they help fund the movies and and just as a as transparency it is not um it’s not an investment I don’t like that model perhaps when I find a consistent model that makes money I’ll be okay with that but I was much more comfortable sharing an experience with people that I knew they would be happy to pay for and that they would get value out of it and there was no question of well I didn’t get what I wanted out of that so I’ll shut up in a second but this is also important on my crew my I’ve trademark dis buddy asked me about trademark I trademarked the best crew in the world that’s literally I have the trademark so if you want the best crew in the world you have to hire me but my crew is not only the best in the world at shooting movies they’re also spectacularly good at playing the game of craps so when we travel around the world we go to casinos and we play craps and I don’t have the exact numbers don’t call me but if we played 10 times I walked out with double my money at least 9 times so these guys are good but I was at a craps table after shooting a movie recently and I’ve spent I bought us all dinner we have the whole cruise you know a few hundred bucks 4 or 500 whatever was had a great time had good dinner some drinks hung out then we go to the craps table I only ever spent 300 bucks that’s where I’m not that’s my limit I realized that these things can become addictive and I’m not gonna let it happen so I I can with 300 bucks and as I get to 200 you know you sort of hope you start going up early right so you don’t to keep going in your pocket well I’m going for the last hundred bucks I’m going do I do this or do I not made it really sucked if I lose this hundred bucks too and it really made me stop and think this is the experiences I provide my clients they have the dinner experience the experience of paying for an awesome time with value great community great conversation being a part of something awesome and I was not at all worried about spending five hundred dollars for dinner but I was worried about another hundred dollars when it came to being an investment so all that to just tell you is you can do things differently and everybody else does and the way you position things in the end very very likely will have much more to do with your customers and clients perception of whether it was successful or not I love it so as craps gonna be funding the next project then hey man only a 300 bucks at a time so probably not a lot because I’m not willing to risk enough to make it hurt or make enough money so anyway it’s but it’s been fun and my wife loves it because I always bring them my winnings and say here go shop so also I figured out that formula 2 so she keeps encouraging me when I go on trips to go to the casino again right but I’m terrible at gambling I don’t know what I’m doing my crew is like math savants and they just tell me what to do and I just do it and we it works out so well that’s what I’m I want to dive right into one of the things you were just absolutely amazing at is bringing people together I mean you again take I know I’ve seen some of your films already but I mean I’m on this amazing amazing film again Sullivan’s story amazing film and I mean these are guys are not really that easy to get there to tell their stories let alone yet the people behind you so how in the world have you mastered this art of people yes so it’s funny I never really thought about it as that and maybe that’s why it worked because I wasn’t I wasn’t trying to connect with people for any other reason then you know I I wanted to see what we might do together I love the dam solvent says you know business is a collaboration with with the economy basically with customers it’s it’s a collaborative experience not a one-man show like you have to provide something other people want and so I’m always been I always ask myself like well I we all know what we want look when we get out of from very basic things to be whether it’s healthy certainly healthy if it’s fit if you want to have a great relationship with a spouse or want to have good friends we want to just get up and have a good hot breakfast like what is it that you that you want to achieve in life and then as like we all have these things I mean just we’re built this way like how do I get what I want but I very quickly realized that it’s obviously much more fun achieving what you want to achieve along with others number one and number two it’s way easier to get what you want if you give other people what they want and you know that’s that’s probably been ridden like a wet horse way too often in it and it’s almost the same way that when people tell me I meet people at all these events like well how can I support you and it’s like a great question to ask but it’s such it’s such a crap question in so many ways because if so cheeps in some ways some people just like the thing I’m supposed to say so I sort of hate this advice but I love at the same time because if you’re if you’re really meaning it works so if I was so recently like I got the opportunity to tell Larry King’s life story it’s just um I want to do so Larry agree to let me do it I had to find I had to find the money to do it so I went to my clients and friends and said hey look if you will pay this much money I will bring you to LA with me you will sit in on my interview Larry King you got a photo with Larry get to meet Larry you’ll get to be an executive booster on a producer on this TV special I’ll make it on Larry and for the rest of your life you’re gonna have not only a great cocktail party conversation but you’re gonna be the most interesting guy in the room because you have this story and you’re gonna be able to have some to show for you like yeah I executive-produced Larry King’s life story like you’re never gonna be separated from Larry King’s story like that will you’ll go hand in hand with that and so that’s how I funded Larry’s story aside from the Peters story so I had funded Brian Tracy story that’s how I funded jack canfield story that’s I’d funtage Abraham’s story there I mean there’s others I’ve done different ways like me and David Berg and Joe polish gave Dan saw him in his movie as a gift right but most of the films I’d funded we’re doing right now on wounded wounded warriors who have PTSD and there is an organization takes rescue dogs and turns them train them to become service dogs and and it costs $25,000 just to do this process and then they give them to the wounded warriors they board them for three weeks in a group and teach them how to live life with a service dog and it literally not not only changes their life it gives them a new life they called a New Leash on Life which is cute but they literally it stops them from committing suicide like literally because they have a friend to go through life with so I funded that with 11 friends who said hey yeah I will I’d love to go meet these wounded warriors I love being part of this movie cool I’ve funded movies in the ghettos of Acapulco and funny movies in the hill tribes of Oaxaca Mexico we’ve been the Dominican Republic multiple times and so I honestly is just in a selfish way it’s me finding stories I’m fascinated with and I know that I will learn from and then who can I drag along with me and what do I need to do what sort of value can I give them in order to get them to follow crazy next on adventures that’s like a big piece of my model you know I love that I think that’s if people can understand the importance of experiences and bringing people on I know right now it’s so for us you’re about time this actually airs live it’ll be already released but we actually have we’ve hired you to basically go out and film operation Underground Railroad but Tim Beck is store and man I get chills even just on the text and the things I was getting back from the while you’re in Haiti and Tim was here in our office and we’re talking about this and I’m like but there’s no one better than you to be able to capture that kind of a story and for me I totally feel like God’s hand has been involved in the filming and everything as far as how this has come together but I think it’s just fascinating bit again when Russell was talking back I should we do and all this guy stuff and your name came up is like yeah of course there’s no one else besides Nick to film this because of the way you’re able to convey story so well and I want to kind of talk to you a little bit about this whole story selling aspect yeah watch the is story selling and how do you use it in your I mean your story selling experience is all day long yeah but what do people use story selling yeah at first I want stun just acknowledge you guys true and I’m honored to do the oh you our story it’s like it’s a once in a lifetime story and hopefully we can end trafficking or be a big piece of that by Tim story I mean talk about you want to talk about real heroes dude I mean this guy going into the ghettos of the world and saving children and when I say the ghettos like well we were in Haiti so Haiti is a sketchy country and I don’t mean that against their people it’s just very corrupt there’s a lot of things working against it it’s a very sad thing but it is a and we were in the sketchiest neighborhood in the weird part of Haiti in a country that’s already and this end and I was scared out of my mind and I was there for two days and Tim does this like on a weekly basis it’s like mind-blowing so anyway I’m super honored to do it but I think so where I think people get lost in story this is actually when I don’t have articulate this way when I when I do Larry King story or Peter story or I’m I’m probably gonna get hard to do a really high profile story coming up here that is a very controversial figure he’s not trapped in all this all the sexual stuff not right now thankfully but he’s very controversial in a political realm and what the reason I’m interested in doing is because I have a basic human belief of faith that at the end of the day we’re pretty much who we are because because of where we are in life and the and the things that have happened along the way to put us in the position we are whether we’re jaded about something super excited about something whether we both whether the the sound of a certain song makes me happy or makes me cry because my sixth grade girlfriend broke up with me like it’s just it’s like a result of these things we go through and so the reason I’m interested in doing is because at the end of the day we’re all humans and there’s way more in common than we have than uncommon and even at the weirdest level of making this movie on on human trafficking which is one of the biggest travesties one most evil things in the world I mean I just I went through in my mind and this is gonna sound really twisted I hope you can understand it I went to mind what would it take to traffic somebody like why why would someone even do that is it no Aussie I had the exact same thought when I was talking to Tim I mean we’re related and I’ve remember we were at the beach when I was talking how what does it take for personally what’s that state of mind where they can feel comfortable doing it yeah and and I don’t know they ever feel comfortable but they do it because in so many ways systemically it just sort of seems I mean societally it said or like wherever they are it it’s it’s not so taboo you won’t do it and and it’s systemically you’re looking out for yourself and like their traffickers who traffic other children to feed their own children now that’s really messed up and strange but at the end of the day I I hope that through things like what Tim is doing and some rehabilitation of not only the children but on some day maybe we get to rehabilitating the traffickers and people who end up in prison systems and stuff because that’s a long road to hoe but at the end of the day we are all humans and we have more in time that we have uncommon and I love the fact that when I interview Peter we talked about space and all that but we got to human Peters basic basic desire you know to change the world to go to space we get to Larry King’s just it’s really funny probably the most successful people I’ve ever met all of them gave me one this answer somewhere and where I ask them like why do you do what you do why do you think you are where you are and all set of one way or the other I’m insanely curious like I’m really really really curious and I it comes out the weirdest I’m IRA computer heard from Larry heard it from like everybody really and I think in the other day that’s why we all do what we do on some level but I love telling these stories because I’m trying to get I’m trying to show everybody why you can do this – why why Peter’s insanely crazy dude who wants the first private spaceship that’s insane while Richard Branson and Mark Cuban who they’re but you know what and the end of the day the more I dig into this stuff it’s really because they they had a really big why obviously because they’re really curious for that just keeps coming up so I’m gonna pay attention to that so we call a theme so to keep the intent to that and then third it’s like so I have a really big why I’m really curious and I’m I’m not and I’m trying to help people I’m trying to do something that I think will genuinely help the world and that’s like never gets old because I know for me as a kid in the GarageBand trying to get a record deal I wanted to I wanted to know that that was possible you know I just did Rudy’s movie right before my play Rudy where we just did a premiere in LA where we’re in the middle of negotiating distribution on a major platform but it like Rudy story is like every every person is an underdog in some way shape or form their life but everyone resonates for that story and I love the fact that even a Rudy was a feature film that is with actors and everything like I don’t do those I do documentaries or thus far that’s what I’ve really enjoyed doing I don’t know that I want to do features I’m sort of questioning that I don’t think so but who knows but I love Rudy’s story because because even if a feature film and even a fictional feature of him even a movie like I don’t I mean god there’s so many the one I’m thinking of Good Will Hunting let’s say or Dead Poets Society or I mean these things can literally change your outlook at whatever you’re experiencing they can literally shift what your next move is and is everyone of them gonna be you know I’ve heard Think and Grow Rich and in some way credited for making people successful and will it be is that the or any of these movies or films the pivotal moment I don’t know but if I could spend my time that I have limited here on earth thanks to Peter is getting longer hopefully if I could spend my time inspiring people through the experiences that I’m getting to have and I get to have more than experiences and share more that stuff with people well I mean well first of all why not but obviously in a way I’ve become convicted that’s what I’m supposed to be doing and so I just really try to get to the core of what in this person’s life is instructive and can be instructive for someone else who’s trying to achieve anything and you know Peters story Peter story is insane obviously one of the best things about it I use all the time my speeches you know I interviewed Richard Branson about it because he ends up buying the technology from the winning team turned down the sponsorship like four times ends up buying the technology 20 my Richard why didn’t you just sponsor he goes well Peter came for me he’s a really bright guy James hooked me but unfortunately listen this we’re always doing too many things and strapped for cash and I’m like what wait what so Richard Branson doing too many things strapped for cash okay I feel that way and basically I’m always gonna throw that way cuz Richard Branson feels oh wait okay that’s validating I’m good with that and then second of all he’s like Peter he launched a ten million dollar prize and he did not have ten million dollars and the way he literally got the money was with hole-in-one golf tournament insurance they bet against the fact that they could not build a spaceship in this period of time that would actually go to space and they did they had to pay out the insurance policy but those two things alone could change someone’s course of action if you go well Dan so repeater read you know the book about the spirit of st. Louis and the first you know transatlantic flight and he he thought about wait it was a prize that got that happen how could I use a prize to get to space look it it could be one of those things and if like sort of my audacious goal would be like how did I make enough films that would have enough nuggets in them that would inspire and help a billion people on their path to doing cooler things like sort of sort of two ethereal to really get anyone behind it but like so I’ll work on my wording don’t don’t wrong but but that’s what I’m doing and so I’ve been blessed with guys like you you guys in Russell like supporting me going to tell another story and there’s so much hope in that story and I was so great talking to Russell about the operation of McGann railroad and trafficking story of wheat I want to tell the story of redemption and of hope there’s a lot of darkness in this and you can get I could I can make 27 hours worth of fascinating raid footage and I’ll and that’ll be a big part of movie don’t get me wrong we got Tony Robbins I got Glenn Beck we got and we got raids and we got you know we did a raid in Haiti and the rest of the transients it’s sort of like interesting see the edge of the world stuff but the end of the day it’s a big problem that I want to I want to project hope on can we stop every human being or being trafficked I would love that but I would still love to find hope and even just the four we just rescued and that’s him just rescued a thousand kid there’s still millions out there which is so sad but how do we find some hope and and how do we make sure guys like Tim can keep going because people are finding hope for redemption and what he’s already doing yeah I love it again I love what you’re doing Nick you’re just a master at really getting those kind of stories out without taking again I you and I were talking earlier it’s one of those things where you’re like yeah I can make this a real terrible vicious type of victim mentality wants to be a movie that our kids can watch your daughter can watch where you know it that oh I get it and yeah I appreciate that skill and the talent that you have and being able to portray it in a way that really conveys that while the same time gets the message out that we need to help these people well thanks Emma it’s a tall task on this movie for sure I I don’t know my daughter is sick so she will not be watching anytime soon I said that but yeah even my even my boys heard me talking about a trafficking movie oh what’s that and I have a almost thirteen year old and some hard conversation to have and and not only buying and selling people but the sexual side is just very complicated and so it’s remains yet to be seen how how young an audience I can make this form still make it effective but that is the really cool charge with all these like most important how do we make it redemptive and how do we so that it’s a tool as opposed to just you know a sensationalistic thing that’s like how terrible is this how cool these raids how cool these Navy SEALs and again you can’t get past all that but we find more in it and and I think you know it’s a tough line to walk but we’re doing we’re doing our best I’m I’m I’m proud of what we’re what we’re doing with it and I think it’ll come out in a way that is it certainly a different look at it for a lot of people well I can’t wait to see it and again it’ll be fascinating for us it’s been fun working with Tim on it as well so tell me you want to get a hold out of the reach out today yeah I think brother you just way to sort of keep up with all things that I’m sort of working on if your interests in that between our agents you know they’re you just go to Nick Nance and calm you can opt in there somewhere to get a special report or download a book or something you will then of course get an hour our funnel systems but you’ll sort of start seeing what we’re up to of course I’m on social media and everywhere else but I mean I mean I’d love you know I’m always looking for great stories great stories have to have funding so thanks to guys like you and Russell that are willing to step up and fund some of these but we also do a lot of cool things where we take people sort of around the world and work on different people’s different organization stories I’m always looking for people who want to join in that in that fight so well Nick any parting word before we like to go I mean I would just say look whatever whatever you’re doing right now just just keep fighting the good fight but keep looking for the things that are easier than they should be that’s that’s that’s God telling you something and you know while every day does have its own struggles look for those things that are unique ability because I truly believe based on you know what I’ve learned what I’ve experienced and I love dance opens concept of unique ability if you really focus on your unique ability your your ability to do what you do and help a lot more people is uh is exponential so I’m I’m excited by that awesome Nick thank you so much love having you on the show and again we’ll talk to you real soon thanks man thank you How To Run High Impact Events – Alex Moscow – FHR #206

How To Run High Impact Events – Alex Moscow – FHR #206

Why Dave Decided to talk to Alex:

Alex Moscow is a leading expert for coaches who want to work with high end clients. He overcame his stuttering and fear of public speaking and now works with entrepreneurs to run high impact events. He shows how to run retreats with 6-16 People and Walk Away with $6-Figures+ in 3 days. He breaks down the steps he uses to fill events. His funnel is unlike anything you may be used to seeing. He takes you step by step through his process of how he generated over 1200 percent return on his marketing dollars.

Tips and Tricks for You and Your Business:

-Alex talks about self-help and how he overcame his childhood stuttering problem (1:50)

-How to create a small group 3 day retreat and walk away with six figures (4:00)

-Formatting your event (7:05)

-Split testing coaching programs (19:30)

-Onboarding process for small groups (20:30)

Quotable Moments:

“The only way to help your clients…is over a long term relationship.”

“Getting results come down to onboarding.”

Other Tidbits:

You don’t need to fill a room with hundreds of people in a seminar to make money. Sometimes smaller, more intimate groups flow better than speaking to large groups.

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody welcome back I’m so excited to have you guys here today because today you have the opportunity of hearing from Alex Moscow Alex welcome to the show thanks Dave excited to be here one of the things that again people always ask me about and it’s sometime really excited today really kind of explore with you since you’re really kind of the world’s leading expert in working with coaches to make sure they really own their value and more importantly that they’re able to to really find a way of getting high-end clients with integrity and a topic that you know a lot of people talk a lot about but really rarely ever do and I think the the cool thing is I was taking a look at some of the stuff you’ve been doing and I know one of things you were talking about earlier was the fact you’re able to run high impact events with retreats of really about six to sixteen twenty people and yet the coach can walk away with somewhere that you know plus six figures type of thing in less than three days and so that’s one of things I want to make sure we cover today but before we do that I’d like to kind of talk a little more about your story because as we were talking just a few minutes ago your your guy is really kind of focused and working with entrepreneurs to help them do a lot of public speaking and to work really as far as crafting their message so they can sell high-end products and things and yet you’re a guy as I recall who basically had a fear of talking to people and also I think you also mentioned the fact that you have a history as far as being a Sutter is that correct that is correct my friend that is correct do you mind kind of explaining a little bit of how how a guys struggling with stuttering actually has been able to overcome that as well as the fear of public speaking to now where you’re actually the leading guy teaching other people how to do this yeah absolutely so when I was a younger clinical speech therapy never really worked for me and so I’ve been into personal development and spirituality and you know it’s really the self-help field you know for my whole life and so I was brought to my first seminar when I was 19 and it was it just it changed the whole my whole perception around you know who I saw myself as and what I saw as possible for myself so you know as I got into going to different seminars and live events around you know yeah being the best version of yourself I’m getting rid of limiting beliefs all that stuff like I I was able with just which is really weird for someone who stutters is that I was able to attract really amazing mentors in in my life and so I’ve had a really amazing mentors who have shown me the possibility who saw a greater potential and myself then it’s all greater potential in me then I saw for myself that’s fascinating I know that it’s one of the things I’m sure is why you do what you do now is you’ve kind of been paying that forward because of all the help that you got in the past that correct yeah and also I I believe that you know everyone’s here for a reason and I believe that we’re we all have unique gifts and unique talents and I believe if you’re if you have those or if you haven’t found those yet you know how we find those we go back into our story of where we came from and so for me like I have you know the two main brands the one you spoke about small events big profits helping coaching experts to do high impact events retreat six to sixteen people walk over six figures in three days so that’s you know helping people speak from stage putting on events making you know high-end mastermind offers from stage and have another one on high-end sales which is effortless enrollment you know how to how to sell high-end programs with owning your value and complete integrity and truth and so it’s like if you look at what I do you know it’s like I so much of my story has been like healing that within myself and owning that within myself and I believe you know as a coach or an expert oftentimes we are teaching the thing that we we needed to learn most in life I love that I totally agree with you on that well we just recently came back from Grant Cardone event where Russell spoke to almost 9,000 people and you know walked away with over three million dollars in sales but I’m fascinated by the fact that you could actually create a retreat of six to sixteen people and then walk away with six six figures in three days so if you don’t mind I’d love to kind of explore how in the world you’d do something like that totally so I believe in this day and age like our customers are more sophisticated and I believe I’m in my market and the coaching and expert market I believe and I believe in all markets in general but especially in this one that our clients are craving in too see like they they’ve been sold so many online courses they’ve been through so many product launch formulas and I believe our clients are craving intimacy and access so in working with thousand different coaches for the past nine years I have discovered that you know there’s so many thought to so many different coach who said you know I’ll do an event someday I’ll do a seminar someday I’ll do a workshop someday and I don’t know if you familiar with this day but my experience is some day it rarely ever happens and so there’s all these different stories of well I need to be at this level I need to be making this amount of money I need to have this amount of clients you know I’m not experienced yet I’ll do a seminar when and so a lot of them and a big belief was that they had to have you know a hundred two hundred three people in a seminar before it to be profitable and what I found is actually rather than going going wider I believe good I believe go narrow and deep so in my small events big big profits model like I say get rather than going to the masses you did just get do you the right people there get the right people in the room and so I have I have clients like Katarina Satori and I preferred this this story is really relevant to what you shared is that you know she wanted 20 people at at her retreat and she got you know a week before you know I was coaching her and she had five people there and she was like I only have five like and she was like use tears you know she was so upset she’s like hey these people are here like they showed up I’m gonna show up at my best like there’s 20 there and out of those five people you know she was able to do one hundred and ten thousand dollars from those five people that’s a narration and at a smaller event like why I believe they’re so impactful is because you can share you can share your content and you can also answer questions so you know with a bigger seminar you have to you know there’s maybe influence techniques you’re using your your presentation has to be so so clean and polished whereas in a smaller event you can just talk and you can ask question hey is this landing hey what’s what’s been your biggest insight you know you can get the feedback from your audience and I also believe to to attract an enroll you know your dream clients you need to be the most authentic and expressive er of yourself so in a small event like when you can like when you just be I believe that when when there’s a foreign framework to follow yes and when you bring your own flavor of who you are into it that’s what that’s what creates results like that so on these small events then Alex are you having people are they coming have they already paid a high ticket to get there and then you’re pitching him on a higher thing what’s the form apt as far as the actual event yes so it varies um what I teach in my programs is called a premium core offer so that comes with a that’s a online course a QA for six to eight weeks and a private Facebook group and then a live event so that’s like a traditional product launch formula type of model but instead of charging at thousand a two thousand I say charged three to ten thousand for it so a lot of my clients are using that where they’ll sell that course and then they’ll they get they get a ticket to that event as a bonus or I have clients who or that the ticket price for that’s anywhere it’s usually to two to five K so it’s a two to that two to five thousand dollar coaching program for six to eight weeks and then at the end is a live event that they are able to come to so they’ve already gotten some results from you and now they come to the event and then at that event you’re pitching in the higher end product yes that’s correct okay so on the how are you selling the front end piece is that through a webinar is that straight traffic application what what’s your process to to sell the first product yeah the great question so that varies um there’s some my clients who are using webinar funnels or just different types of online funnels that drive to an application and that’s sold over the phone and another big strategy that I use as well is is speaking so I’m a big fan of of sponsoring live events it’s it’s like you can pay for traffic you know and you can also pay for live traffic so I look at a sponsorship for an event like if you’re you know if someone were to spawn sole responsible sponsor grants event you know like they pay a certain amount to be on stage and then they’re in front of nine thousand people so I also have my clients I’m sponsor or just speak on the different stages for that as well that’s I love that idea I was talking with the peat bog is about that a while back and something we’re looking at doing for clickfunnels and some of us kind of speaking team we’re looking at putting together so on that what’s the average cost you’re seeing as far as for sponsorship how many people are there all that kind of stuff yeah so that varies per industry and my experience most honestly man most like if you go to the bigger events like of the the beer name influencers you’ve been doing it for a while like it’s your gonna look you know for a hundred people in the room your sponsorship if you have like if there’s so many different variables you know is that can you make an offer like are you spreading to sell or you just giving something away for free where you make your money on the back end so for myself like I usually go for a smaller spot because I’m not selling like everything that I do is higher end and so it’s closed over the phone so I’ll take like a lower speaking spot because I’m just gonna make a free offer for a big consultation with me and so that’s usually an anywhere from if there’s like a hundred to 20 people in the room you’re looking at anywhere from attended to 20,000 for that if you want to speak and sell like a mainstage spot you’re looking 25 to did like forty thousand usually okay and how much time are you getting just on stage to to sell or to pitch your at least even your free stuff yeah so for for like a free spot to make excuse me for spot to make a free offer you’re usually looking 45 to 60 minutes and then for a mainstage spot that’s usually in a a 90-minute spot where you can make an offer fantastic so on something like that you obviously you really have to know your numbers and you know what you can typically so like take for example on a webinar we’re typically looking at something like that where you know if you will just use two hundred people the hundred people basically register the webinar you’re gonna get about a 30% to 40% you know show up rate so you know 30 to 40 people on there and then you’re in a closed anywhere from you know 10 to 20 percent of that so you’re looking at you know three to six seven people in on a webinar to have a deal for a hundred people so in an event where you got a hundred people these people all typically are these I’m assuming most those are probably paid events that you’re speaking at yes that’s correct so these are people who they’re much more of a high qualified person than a person that would say be on a webinar because these guys have have not only paid money for the to attend the event they’ve also taken you know two to three days out of their time they also have paid for travel and hotel and so you’ve got a much more qualified buyers correct absolutely okay and then on that so on here let’s say if it’s ten thousand bucks you’re spending for a hundred hundred people and you’re sitting in front of those people and you’re giving them an offer is it for a free consult what to use that kind of your your your most common offer yes so I’ll I’ll break down my last sponsorship in detail is that cool that’d be great love it oh so I spoke at an event for coaches on how to run mastermind so that’s that’s a great event for me because I teach how to sell masterminds and so I I invested it was it was like fifteen thousand for the sponsorship that was a it was a 60-minute speaking spa it was during lunch and I can make a free offer so during lunch is not the most optimal because you have to fight over people’s food so what I did that event last I did really well and so it was fifteen thousand for that and then flying out Mike my team and for all of the branding and stuff I was in for about 18 grand after expenses so 18 grand in I did a 60-minute speaking spa made a free offer and then I also had a base a sponsored booth for the three days to so I would highly suggest anyone who sponsors get that booth in that booth can I that booth can triple the amount of revenue that you make there if you know how to work it right so I spoke during lunch I made an offer for a a a business engine upgrade session that’s what’s the name of my console or help someone gets crystal clear on who their dream client is I helped them get crystal clear on what’s the message to attract them and what high end program is going to be attractive in the pricing structure in the model for that so that was what my offer was it was free I did it for free it was a $497.00 no-show fee so nobody so they have to put the credit card down show it show they’re serious if they show up to the call nothing is charged if they would cancel 24 hours in advance nothing is charged but if they don’t show up and they don’t call let us know then their card is charged for 497 dollars that query cool yeah I love that cool so yeah I got it in my VIP lunch like was so it was a lunch for the VIPs there is about 68 69 people in the room I believe I did 22 22 applications from that and I closed 11 and I did a hundred and twenty one thousand in two hundred twenty one thousand five hundred in sales and I collected 75 thousand cash or 76 thousand cash that’s fantastic so basically you’ve got 68 highly qualified people you got a 33% close rate on apps and then from those apps you converted 50 percent of those yes so an $18,000 investment basically brought you in 75k yes 75k and then the additional but I I’m only half the Asians so my math only works half the time Dave [Laughter] it’s about 50,000 extra in contract because I did I did a hundred twenty 1500 in contracts so the extra fifty fifty thousand or so what was it was collected over the next three months that’s fantastic so we’ll just say you know what you invested eighteen thousand and had it made one hundred eighteen or hundred twenty thousand on the video ten a 10x multiple on your investment yeah I think it’s important especially in this industry to be really clear on cash collected I totally agree with you on that you know I did a hundred thousand dollars in sales how much cash do you collect well collected 500 in cash very interesting what the way that experts position things oh it’s so funny well we actually refer to that as stomper Matic from haha stompernet where they would basically say oh yeah we sold sold this you know monthly product you know a thousand dollars a month and if everybody stayed on for the next twelve months we would make X I’m like well first of all no one stays on for twelve months in a continuity program and you didn’t collect all that so usually it’s about a tenth of what they actually would say so I totally understand the stopper math effective now a lot of coaches kind of say well how much they made so I appreciate you being that transparent and open about Alex that’s very very cool well I love I love what you’re doing and especially this whole idea of of going out and speaking at other peoples events to fill your own events and so now that you’ve got so from those eleven people that you sold they now are in into your you know Hunter K or whatever it is and then some of those people also are gonna attempt a live event with you that’s your event basically and then you’re going to upsell them as well yes that’s correct yeah like are we making offers cuz I think about it like this and I think this is really important so whether it’s a webinar a stage presentation like I give everything so it’s like I give you everything that I could in this you know in this in this in this 90-minute webinar you know like I wish I could I wish I could teach you everything I needed I that you need to know to enroll high end clients in ninety minutes but the truth is that that’s just not how it work so you know so this has been valuable for you then you know this is what I have next so I got my three-day event like I give it all you know I say hey here’s everything that you need to know if you can take this information and go out and like in it and implement it on your own great you know but how many other events have you been to where you said oh my life is gonna change and you’re back at a different seminar you know three months later I call that seminar syndrome so I believe they’re really I believe to really helps how really help our clients you know like we didn’t work them for six months to a year and beyond like I have like I totally agree with you on that oh my gosh anybody who’s listened to that I hope I know Alex just went over that real quick but realize the only way you can help your clients is to really get the value that that you can provide to them is over a long term relationship which does require our high-end selling type of thing and if it’s six months to a year or two or three years whatever it might be I think I’m a huge believer in that totally I believe it’s like if someone can of or you know my hiring programs yet Holden coming to my event like learning good go implement and I have clients who could do that you know I have clients to invest their last you know thousand couple thousand dollars and then they come back you know a couple months later like oh my goodness like I could invest in the higher and stuff now and I believe that in this in in my field in in in the vertical that I’m in that’s the way that should be like I tell my clients like my program should never cost you money like if you take action if you if you if you implement what’s there like there should be so much abundance from it that’s all even a second thought I believe that’s how that’s how like business develop programs should be I completely agree with you on that we’ve taken the same approach here clickfunnels is to make sure that any type of a coaching program it shouldn’t be you should basically be able to not only make you money back but make more than enough to then invest at the next level as well so I think that’s a great great philosophy especially from anyone’s out there doing coaching totally is it cool if I give one little tip on that I’d love it yeah I think what’s so what’s so so like especially all my marketing space so the internet marketing the expert space like you know you’re obviously familiar with with um split testing right of course so I I believe so everyone split tests you know headlines a split test landing page they split test on the actual marketing what hardly anyone if anyone ever split tests is coaching programs like what program is gonna get my client aid a better result you know is it this version or this version very very few people I have talked to and I don’t think anybody who actually does that so what I believe to really help our clients is that our clients need to be trained and how to use coaching programs like a lot of people have never used one before they don’t know how to take advantage of it and so I believe how to get our clients the best results possible is to actually is to actually like train them how to use a course like one of the greatest like impacts that I’ve had in my business is is the is the is the is the onboarding process because I believe how it starts is how it finishes so the onboarding process is actually that sales call the enrollment call that’s why it’s so I’m so passionate about it because it’s it’s the entire foundation for the whole relationship but the onboarding call referring to is the call after that of how did you set your client up for success that piece alone of implementing that has it’s what’s really attributed to helping my clients get the amazing results of that they do I mean man that is fantastic yeah but that is that’s been a key factor for that too oh that is so cool can you share just a couple of things that a couple things that you’re doing on your onboarding to to generate that kind of success oh you asked great questions Dave I love this yeah so like I got this one off for my girlfriend Jennifer hoody who has like an incredible copywriting the agency for people like Joe polish Dean grad COC and some of the top influencers and so I learned this somehow I gotta get four credit on it the communication framework like a or you can call the communication framework or a communication conversation of like of how honest do you want your feedback to be like so when we’re coaching you like how and how how how honest do you want it to be like on a scale from one to ten and then what does that number look like for you like that question alone I think is a game-changer because it lets you get on the same page as your as your client as to like how they actually community and how they receive feedback cuz some like it really direct and you know spot-on and others don’t others that really doesn’t work for them so I found that’s been monumental another one one of my favorite questions is uh I asked him in my onboarding process you know we’ll go through you know but what what problem are you what’s the number one problem me that you’re looking to us to solve in this program why are you committed to succeeding in your life and in this program right now that’s another gem and this is my favorite one is uh how might you mess this up I mean because like honestly Dave my perspective is that like there’s so much business strategy out there like you can like literally everything that we’re mostly stuff that I teach so you can go on YouTube you can you can goo you can google it you can google anything now I believe you know information is not transformation it’s not information is not transformation so I believe when you’re looking for a coach like do they have the coaching ability to see the blind spots that I don’t see for myself like when when I’m going through and when when my own limiting beliefs coming up in my own my own negative patterns come up to keep me small like can my coach called me forward to take action on what’s on what I need to actually do so that’s why like I asked that question of you know how might you mess this up it’s like what pattern should I be aware of of how you will keep yourself small because if you are left to your own devices that’s what you do that’s why you’re in the program in the first place so I believe that you know the programs that have the highest clients success ratios which I’m so so so grateful that you know I have a lot of people saying that mine does is it’s because that I I get really clear on that you know even with the best business strategy if they don’t believe it themselves if they don’t believe it they can do it they’re not gonna actually go out there and take action on it oh my gosh I love that oh we’re gonna have another call later because I think this whole idea as far as onboarding for the coaching is is really where most people screw up any coaching program it might be real good at selling it but getting the results comes down at onboarding I I went through I had hired a coach right at the first of the year and I actually had these kind of conversations with him so it’s kind of fascinating so for for me if I as far as if I was coaching with you and you’d ask me you know how do you like to receive feedback I’m I prefer really direct I hate when people kind of dance around it and everything else just be direct with me especially from hiring you as a coach just tell me what’s wrong whereas I’ve got other people I’ve got friends I know who that kind of just abrupt blunt in-your-face type of stuff is almost offensive and so I think it’s really important when you’re coaching that you understand how they want that feedback for me as far as my number one problem to solve was I the coach I had hired at that time was helping it was basically one of the it was based on the one thing and so for me my number one problem was I have way too many number one things and so my number one problem was I wanted to help me focus on what’s my most important problem that by accomplishing everything else will become irrelevant or unnecessary and then as far as how much you mess this up for me the easiest way for me to mess mess it up is taking I will over commit myself to too many different things and and not achieve what I need to do in the amount of time I needed so I those types of call onboarding are just huge and I appreciate you taking the time to go through that and I hope hope you guys who are listening this who are running coaching programs understand the importance of this it’s one of the things Alex we’re actually looking at from quick final standpoint is to to start going out and doing more speaking on stages and one of things we’ve looked at offer and possibly would be this type of a coaching and then I love the idea as far as onboarding and it really it doesn’t sets up the student for a ton more success but I think as you made mention Alex as the coach it helps you really identify what what you need to do it again it goes back to a split testing so I love thank you so much for sharing those absolutely absolutely I’ll give you one last question or one last little piece to like put that put the cherry on the on the on the sundae is I’m after you after how how much you messed this up you want to ask you know what steps can you put in place to to prevent that from happening for yourself so they take ownership of that and then you ask you know how can we how can how can i as your coach how can we how can we how can my company you know that supports you in this as well oh I love that I think too often people look at coaches as their Savior instead of as a coach and I I think that’s fantastic I love how you put the the ownership back on them that’s where it should be I believe that’s what I mean that’s what a great coaching is you know and like I I you know I tell my clients on the phone like I’m not looking for your money I’m looking for really good clients so if people are coming to me on my sales code and I saying well I was in this person’s mastermind and this person’s coaching program and it doesn’t work and doesn’t work that’s like I’d be like hey like that’s definitely a cute idea so cuz like I know people in those programs and they’re working in so the common denominator and all those programs is you so like I should why should I let you into my program when you know when gets hard because building a business is hard you know there are gonna be things that they need to work through you know and you think it doesn’t work like how do I know he you’re not gonna go out there and tell them two people my program isn’t work because I know my program works I love it that’s fantastic boys we get kind of close to wrapping things up you’re Alex if people want to find out more about you or or connect you what’s the easiest way of doing it yeah so the easiest way of doing it would be if they go to my website they can go to Alex Jay Moscow comm al e^x J M o SC o W calm they can connect with me there and also I have I have a bunch of free gifts on that on that site and then if they want to connect with me directly which people for you for you Damon in the clicks uh Nelson community is you can actually add me on Facebook so facebook.com slash Alex Jay Moscow al e x j mo SC o w and if you add me as a friend but make sure that you shoot me a message as well cuz I get a lot of requests and if I don’t get such then I’m probably not gonna add you so and I would love to talk to you but if you know if you don’t send the message then it definitely makes it a little more difficult for me I appreciate your saying that I bet from people all the time say if I had a G on on Facebook as a friend I’m like I get blown up on friend request and I’m the same way if you don’t know if you don’t send me a personal message I I just don’t even look at theirs they’re just too many people just add a whole bunch of people I just I don’t take the time to go through it so I think that’s a great way of doing it well Alex again I truly appreciate all your time and your effort and and most importanly the content the value Balaam’s here you’ve been dropping for our listeners I know you said you’ve also got an event possibly coming up they could attend is that correct yes yes yeah so what I wanted to do for you Dave in the clickfunnels community is I have an event called the exponential enrollment experience and you can find that ad exponential enrollment com I’m sure that Dave will have a link on here and that events if you liked what I’ve shared on this on this podcast just about you know really coming from a place of truth and integrity in your sales process a really feeling authentic in making those offers and into higher-end programs in you that’s what this event is all about and I believe like I said to to attract and enroll high-end clients you need to be the most authentic expressed a version of yourself and I’ll be teaching my method on congruent closing this is the first time I’ve taught it to the public before and with congruent closing it’s about being that amazing coach that you are not just with your clients but also in your sales process because no matter people teach objection handling and I know there’s like the objection and handlers Bible and there’s all sorts of like different scripts on how to hang on people’s objections yeah in my experience that when you’re dealing with an objection that someone’s beliefs that’s their limitation that’s their belief of why they don’t believe they can have something that they want and people’s excuses are infinite they’re unlimited and so it doesn’t matter how many different lines that you can say that’s not what’s gonna overcome the objection and start a really awesome long-term relationship with your client we’re gonna help them change their life with my congruent closing process it’s a process that’s really going to help you own your value and also stand congruently in who you are and speak your truth in that in that enrollment process so that your client is truly empowered empowered to say yes you know most closing processes most other sales trainers they’ll teach you how to how to just get a deal done get a deal done get a yes if that’s what you want to do that’s fine but this is not the event for you like my event is my congruent closing processes empowering that person to or enrolling them in a bigger vision for themselves and empowering them to make a decision to take action on that vision so it’s about it’s the you can go to exponential enrollment calm I’m giving Dave and the Cleveland community special pricing on that that ticket to um I’ll give David details and he can post them on this page of where it’s gonna be shared cool well Alex again appreciate your time today thank you so much and I look forward to connecting with you real soon absolutely thanks so much Dave you know one of things that means a ton to me is the personal reviews that you guys leave on iTunes you wouldn’t mind going out rate the show let me know how I’m doing just go to iTunes click on the episode and rate it leave a comment I read all the I appreciate all the stars and everything already left for me again I really appreciate it and it’s my way of finding out how I’m doing so if you don’t mind I’d really appreciate it and again thank you so much for all that you guys do have a great day

welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody welcome back to my locker radio yes indeed this is just me this time and I want to talk to you about one of the things I get questions about all the time and that is the dream 100 do’s and don’ts especially when it relates to going to events and things so I’ve been to a ton of events recently you’re gonna hear a couple of podcasts in a few episodes about some of things I’ve learned everything from being out work with Dean gracioso you spending some time at 10x with Russell and Grant Cardone event flying up to T & C and then all social media marketers so there was a like 1012 days of just craziness but what I want to talk to you guys about right now is one of the most important things I find and it’s something that is just so I’m so important when you’re looking at building relationships and this is the whole idea behind a dream 100 now this is not a new concept if you’re followed any of Russell’s content or T genes or anything else daaamn secrets experts secrets everything you see is always gonna be mention about this whole idea as far as the dream 100 now one spends a little bit of time here as far as making sure it makes sense to you as far as why why we do it but most importantly exactly how to do it the do’s and the don’ts what works and what doesn’t so what that said the dream 100 if you’re not familiar with it go buy it calm secrets book so get a free copy of it doc on secrets calm or if you want just pay attention here I’m trying to make sure you guys understand the idea here is when you’re looking at the dream 100 it’s basically a hundred people or so or whatever the number might be it might only be 10 or 15 depending on your industry in the business that you’re in the idea behind it is these are the people who you want in your network these are people you want to develop lifelong or at least very lengthy business relationships with this is not a just burn and churn type of relationship which unfortunately I see a lot of people do on this whole idea as far as the dream 100 this is something that takes a lot of time and effort but the payoff is so so huge I’ve done a couple podcasts on this in the past you can go back and take a look at that but I want to talk to you a little bit about this understand the first thing here is not to stock people and I know that sounds like well of course that makes a ton of sense but at the same time you kind of have to stock people and what I mean by that is you may be stocking them virtually but when you actually meet them don’t stock them in real life my other reason to say that is I’ve seen this happen at so many different events I’ve seen it when I’m around Russell I’ve seen it I saw it literally at three different events back to back to back where there was people who literally were just we ran into them all of the time and they’re like I just want to get a pellet photo I just want us to talk to Murray you have to understand you’re gonna burn that relationship this cannot be you’ve got to look at this thing as if it’s a courtship you’re dating this person you’re trying to get to know them because you’re gonna do business with them for a very very very long time too often people think it’s just all about me me me me me and I know if I can do this or I mean I get pitched all the time these days you know what if you’ll promote this we’ll give you 50 a 50-50 split I’m like of what I don’t need the 50/50 split that’s that’s not appealing to me it’s not the money the idea behind this is you’re trying to create value the hole I’d be idea behind the dream 100 it’s a value exchange now the reason I mentioned that is there’s a lot of times where you may not perceive or think that you have a lot of value to give to those people and I want to make sure you guys understand that you’re wrong there is such a massive value that you can provide to other people and I’ll give you a couple of examples here in just a minute but understand its it cannot be what it’s what’s in it for you it’s what’s in it for them I’m gonna give you a couple of do not do type of things so you’ve if you’ve read dot-com secrets or you first talked about this you’ve heard how frequently we will mail out packages to different people the idea here is to start developing a relationship with them now when you’re mailing these packages out especially on the first one your first package cannot be all about you and I know that seems kind of stupid but I see it happen all the time we got a package in the office just recently and I could tell it was dream 100 it was beautifully put together he opened it up and inside was a video card and the video card was just basically all about that and it was all their promotional materials and all this kind of stuff and it was just basically a pitch understand that is not how the dream 100 works is not just a pitch you’re building a relationship you’re dating you’re courting these people you got to think of it that way the other thing is make sure that when you’re stalking them online what I mean by that is spend some time getting to know these people the best thing to do is to actually in fact recently we just hired miles Clifford in our office to become our relationship manager one of his main jobs is gonna get to know people really really well and part of that in a weird way will be stalking them online to find out what are the things they like or the things they don’t like as much as I mean Russell is pretty vocal about his own personal religious beliefs and things and at the same time it always it’s such a nice gesture when someone sends him a bottle of wine and he’ll never say Russell is just too nice for a guy not to say anything he’ll accept it graciously and everything else but he’s not going to drink it and fortunately other people in our office do and some of the benefits they get for working here I guess the clickfunnels but realize when you’re trying to send someone a gift think about what’s in it what do they like I was talking to yata about this the other day she was in the office in she was the recipient of a beautiful dream 100 packet and it was all about what this guy basically ended up sending her the pretty woman DVD because it meant so much to him and I’m like that’s really cool but God was like David didn’t mean anything to me I I actually didn’t even like movie that much and so there was no real value there for her so realize you want to make sure you when you’re thinking about it you’re you’re giving something of value the other thing is I was at an event just recently and this person was oh my gosh you know date I want you to introduce I want to introduce you so and so I’m like oh great I actually know that person really well it goes oh fantastic when you talk to him please make sure that I referred you I was like I just told you I know that guy real well I said what do you mean goes well I want I want you to talking about this specific thing and he gave me two or three things that he thought would be super cool for me to make sure I talked to him about I thought great I’ll go talk to him so I had this great conversation yeah the guy and I spent a lot of time talking about it and everything else and then later the guy came the guy I’d spent all this time talking to came back to me said Dave it’s really weird I just got this text from so-and-so saying that he referred me to you or refer you to me and I’m like yeah I told him that I knew you goes I think he’s wanting to get a piece of whatever deal we may structure together and I’m like I don’t get it just it I understand it but understand you can’t go into everything especially when you’re connecting other people it can’t be about you you’ve got to be willing to give and give and give and give I want to give you a couple of examples of some people have done that recently which has been super super cool class one examples was I’m actually recording this on my iphone right now because I’ve had a couple people tell me how terrible my quality is on my audio and so I’m trying to find a better way of getting better audio on my interviews well one of the guys was giving me a whole bunch of crap and had actually responded to an interview that I had done with Ross gracefully and rosters got joking back and forth about it and I said you know what I’m in the process of trying to get a better sound a better mics and all that other kind of stuff well out of the blue what happens what shows up at my office was a brand new Yeti mic from Ross Christopher Lee now Ross is super generous super great guy but he didn’t have to do that but understand it’s those little tiny things that mean the world again it Ross is a great friend and everything else and it’s not like he’s trying to get anything out of me but it’s those types of things that you would do for another friend that you just kind reached out that’s the kind of stuff you want to send when you’re looking at dream 100 type of things find out what what they like what they what’s important to them there was a time an example I actually we went out to Pirates Cove gosh one of the very first times I was at Pirates Cove with Russell it’s probably been I know six seven eight years ago and I ended up bringing a huge gift for him because I knew how much he loved Twix the twitch bars but it was the peanut butter bars and so their fill of peanut butter instead of the caramel and so I literally bought just case the two biggest cases I could find twit subpoena butter bars and again it was something I would do for a friend and that’s the kind of stuff you want to do when you’re looking at dream 100 type of stuff another example is most recently I actually so one of the ways you can do this and get one things I mean half miles doing it is kind of stalking some of the people online that we’re gonna have on our dream 100 to find out what are the things that they like an example of this most recently was I actually received a gift from Christopher Boss where I had done a Facebook live a while back I actually had done two of them in and CRISPR vos has sent me two amazing gifts extremely thoughtful one of them basically was I at the at Christmas time I ended up doing one about I heard the bells on Christmas Day and the true meaning of it what it meant to me how much I enjoyed it all that kind stuff well what I end up receiving from him was this beautiful little tiny chest a treasure chest and when you opened up were these little tiny books of I heard the bells on Christmas Day and it was actually bookmarked with the lyrics of the part that I liked the most and it was a thought it was super super thoughtful and then just this last week a while back I’d done another Facebook live about whether or not prayer was your steering wheel or if it’s your spare tire in other words when you’re looking at prayer is it something that you that you use to drive your life and you do it on a regular basis or you only use it when you’re in an accident or when you have a flat tire and you’re in desperation you reach out to God and are hoping that he’s going to help you well Ross attacks there I mean Chris were basically created this beautiful plaque basically a wheel part of was a steering wheel part was a spare tire had that quote on there and it was framed it’s just beautiful piece he sent to me and he sent me he also kind of done this homework and knew what I had myself my wife and four boys so six of us in our family and so he sent six bookmarks of that basically in a miniature size and then he also had taken the time and they actually set and wrote me a handwritten note about how much it meant to him and the fact he actually had a picture of that on his wall and he talked about it with his family so realize I’ve never before spent a whole bunch of time with Christopher but I can tell you when I get to funnel Hecky live he’s one of the guys I’m gonna be seeking out because I want to make sure you understand how much I appreciate that it’s that kind of stuff that you do when you’re trying to develop a relationship so my only reason to mention this kind of stuff is I want to make sure that you understand this is the kind of thought you need to put into your dream 100 Dana Derrick’s is by far one of probably the best guys are doing the dream 100 stuff because his gifts are way crazy crazy stuff I mean way over-the-top nuts and the best way to find that out is I want you to check take a look at Dana Derek’s basically if you’re to Google dream 100 book you would find in the dream 100 book is basically written by Dana Derrick’s and I want you to go through his funnel and realize first of all the cost of the book how he goes through the funnel but most important the value that you get out of that so look at Dana Derek’s he’s going to speak in a funnel I can live of you there funnel acting live by all means make sure that you find him track him down and ask him about the dream 100 the other thing is what I make sure that we need to think about this another guy who comes to mind actually is Sammy shoebox Moses he’s a DJ I met him on one of the yacht cruises we were on in down at tnc he also was the DJ at TNC a couple weeks ago and I would sit there talking to him and I was so impressed with just the energy that he brought into the room I thought man that’d be just awesome I’d love to have this at funnel hockey live well we’d already gone through and spent a whole bunch of time getting things done and it just wasn’t gonna happen for us as far as bringing him in and so I had said you know we’re not gonna be able to have time well he went through and sent me four or five different songs and why they the impact it would have on the audience and just gave me a ton of different things that we could do to actually bring a whole bunch of energy inside me even though he was gonna be able to make it and wasn’t we weren’t able to hire him it’s that kind of value that he provided so realize you need to take a look at none of these guys again it’s not like they spent a whole bunch of money or anything else it’s the value exchange Sammy basically his value exchange is providing time I don’t have to spend a whole bunch time looking for different music tracks that we could use in addition to that he’s out there doing everything he possibly can to make sure that that he’s giving giving and giving and giving it as much value to me who knows what’s going to happen one thing you have to understand about life is karma and it is real I don’t care what your religious beliefs are karma is real it just happens the universe hates a vacuum what I mean by that is if you continue to give and give and give and give and give this whole law of reciprocity it just comes back it may not come back directly from that one person but it does come back into your life and so I’m just it really encourage you guys as you look at it coming to photo hacking live and you’re gonna want to spend a whole bunch of time with people plan in advance if there’s certain people I can tell you right now it’s about 10:30 at night miles and I’ve been in the office and we’ve been going through we were through 335 people who are gonna be at frontal hacking live that I wanted him to meet and get to know as our new relationship manager for no other reason the fact that these are people who have provided value to our audience and to our group and I wanted to make sure that they know how much we how much means to us how much we appreciate that so his whole job basically over the next week is to go online to Google these people to find out more about them some of them are inner circle members were who he’s met others are some of our two comma Club winners others are people who haven’t done anything for us as far as the odd as far as providing tons of value to us as a group but they’ve done it for me personally so I wanted him to kind of get to know them as well so just realize when you’re out there it’s this kind of stuff that you need to look as far as how can you give and as you’re giving and you’re looking at coming to funnel hacking live or you’re looking at going to an event plan in advance and see who who might be in attendance and what can you know about those people what types of things could you do to provide value to them take a look one of the ways you provide value to people is if they’re doing a Facebook live or they’re doing something on their share their posts comment if they’ve got groups and things out there be involved in those types of groups you will find that that type of value it never goes unnoticed people start paying attention to who’s commenting who’s sharing who’s helping them get their message out whatever you can do to help other people in that way it all comes back to you so with all that said first of all first step step number one is they’ll get a copy of of dot-com secrets if you don’t have it you got to get that second thing is as you look to coming to funnel hacking live make sure that you spend some time planning in advance who might be there who you want to meet third thing is when you’re there don’t stock people think what are the values I can give how can I help be generous with your time be generous with what you can do one thing you’re gonna find at a live event one of the best things about it is people are there to connect it’s one of the main reasons they’re there so as long as you do it in the way that’s that’s not offensive and doesn’t monopolize all their time when they’re trying to take care of other things there’s so much more willing to give and connect when they’re at a live event than any other place so take the time again I hope to see all of you there at funnel hackie live it’s literally a week from today and I can’t wait to hopefully connect with you guys real soon have an amazing day and we’ll welcome to funnel hacker radio podcast where we go behind the scenes and uncover the tactics and strategies top entrepreneurs are using to make more sales dominate their markets and how you can get those same results here is your host Dave Woodward hey everybody welcome back to funnel hacker radio I’m your host Dave Woodward and I hope you guys can put on your seat belt because you guys are in for a ride of your life today I have one of my dear friends I want to bring on the show al-jarf and Alex welcome to the show what’s up David so good to be here with you brother this is my second interview with you it’s the first time my interview is all about the entrepreneurial personality type and I was just getting to know you since then we’ve spent a ton of time out of pirates go with our families you’ve been here at inner circle Boise and I’ve seen the impact that you’ve had on our life’s here at clickfunnels and I just can’t thank you enough for just the value that you always are giving to so many people so Alex I’m so appreciative that you’re willing to take time to be on this podcast today so thank you so much well I mean I just want to tell you something Dave like my my association with you and with Russell and with the inner circle and with clickfunnels has completely changed our lives and it’s given us so much progress it’s so much momentum in such a short period of time I think we I think it’s all it’s been less than a year and you know I’ve known Russell for years but we’ve decided to finally like go headfirst and like jump in and I remember the day I called and said like hey guys I need to be in whatever Russell has that’s most expensive and most important because like I wanna I want to really understand what you do and here’s what’s so crazy about clickfunnels and really being in the inner circle with Russell or associated with any of the coaching programs is that I don’t think that the outside world understands the level of acceleration that you guys provide to a business because for us it’s been night and day it’s like before click funnels we didn’t even have the lights on and and you know we were not unsuccessful before hate it’s crazy how much better it is well I love it again it’s for me it’s so much fun just to be with successful people to work with people like yourself and again it’s it I always let me have this conversation my boys just the other day about the value of relationships to me there’s nothing more important this life than the people that you meet and people you spend time with and I think for me at the the game that we’re playing these days is really to associate with those people who who are helping other people become successful and really creating a legacy and the neighborhood scale and I know that’s one of the main things that you focus on and so if you don’t mind I’d like to just kind of dive right first of all a little background if you guys don’t know who Alex Jonathan is I don’t know how you couldn’t but just google his name it you’re gonna see Forbes and fortune and every 500 company in the world basically coming up was used to services in the past but the thing I love most about Alex right now is this is a guy who understands the entrepreneur probably better than anybody else he’s got a podcast do not listen to it you’d need to go and subscribe go get them momentum podcasts all about the entrepreneurial personality type he’s crushing it over there again huge props to everything you’ve done Alex but right now I want to take the next 15-20 minutes and really talk about a topic you and I were just exploring and that is this whole idea as far as team now you made the comments while we were before we started the recording here and that was you know 20% of most click foolish users are the footwear they really need to look at scale and team the other 80% are kind of getting started but the fascinating thing about clip phones that allows you to get from start up to 300 500 thousand literally in just a few months if you’re really focused and I’ve been shocked just to see miles on our team here handles a lot of our to comic club applications and they come in all the time right now we have over 206 people have made over a million dollars in sales funnel and now we’re at that point where we really need to help businesses get to that next level and that’s the skill set did you bring and I really want to just focus in on you know people talk a lot about this whole concept of team building Alex your approach to it is so revolutionary and so new that I’ve never even heard before if you don’t mind could you kind of explain our audience when you look at team building what are you really looking at so Dave you know I think here’s here we have to first like understand why we need to build the team and and here’s how I look at it for entrepreneurs like you and like me like Russell and like a lot of people who are listening if you’re in the clickfunnels ecosystem you’re probably one of those people who wants crazy momentum you’ve always had that thought in the back of your head that you’re here for more you’re meant to be more do more create more and put out there well here’s what happens there’s this point in our careers where we realize the momentum we can generate on our own what we can do on our own is no longer enough and the logical next step and really the the next step the only next step that works is to start building a team and getting leverage and and creating that team that’s going to help you grow your business past where you are and the incredible thing about clickfunnels is it will put you into that situation way faster than if you’re not using quick bottles like you will accelerate to the place where you probably accelerate past where you should have attitude and here’s why I think that’s so important for entrepreneurs like we we all want to make a massive impact on the universe but all of us like there’s not one of us who can do it alone when you look throughout history at any entrepreneur you remember anyone who matters to be remembered you know there’s this myth of the people who did it on their own when you look under the covers there was a team there 100% of entrepreneurs had a team Thomas Edison he wasn’t alone in his warehouse in Menlo Park tonight there was an entire team dropping off glass bringing filaments helping him blow you hoping to blow stuff up 10,000 times so he could finally turn nine today but no one does it alone so if you’re an entrepreneur my whole message is get to the point where you need a team as fast as you can and then recruit one that’s gonna help you take your business to where you’ve always known it should be I love that I think I wish I wish everyone had all the knowledge that you already have in your head right now because one things you guys understand is this principle that Alex teach is called a billionaire code it honestly was one of the things for me that changed the way I looked at how we build clickfunnels and I know we talked a lot about getting people from you know from zero to a hundred thousand to three hundred thousand seven or thousand a million three million seven million ten million and it keeps scaling up like that you know I’ve had these these you know three 7:01 type of conversations before but when you look at say for example you know 80% of our users maybe less than a million bucks right now what is when they look at building a team what are the some first things they need to look at when you’re just starting out and building a team like when you have never had members of a team before like it’s just you the team that you’re going to build is going to replace in the team you should build replaces things that you do and so let’s just look at like what it looks like for a single for a solopreneur you know you’re doing everything in your business and one of the mistakes that solopreneurs make is they’re doing everything they’re overwhelmed and they’re like okay I’m gonna go hire a body and they put the body next to him they say help me make this better that works about zero percent of the time unless that body is like a spouse or somebody who can’t leave then then eventually you might figure it out but what you should what you should be doing is when you’re in that first place of leverage identify the things in your business that you don’t need to do anymore that you can outsource to somebody if you know at the beginning we’re doing everything so start outsourcing outsource design outsource Facebook Ads outsource whatever it is that’s not the highest and best use for you and the company and start getting leveraged that way because at first it’s very hard to afford full-time people then once you go through that outsourcing and you get people on board the first full time person I believe any entrepreneur should hire is the person who’s going to make their life easier go out and get yourself an executive assistant and train them to help you operate the company get that person who’s gonna be next to you and helping you operate keep the trains on on time make sure you’re keeping schedules understand everything that’s going on work as a project manager because in a small business it’s you and then you need someone who can help you leverage your time the question you should be asking is how can I find a team that will help me get ahead how can I find a team that will help me be able to do more how can I find a team that will make me more effective that is your mantra far too many entrepreneurs do what I did in my first business day I got overwhelmed at the beginning and I was like oh I need a sales guy so I hired a sales guy I had a consulting company so I needed more consultants we got more contracts I’ve hired a ton of consultants and I needed somebody to manage them so I the manager then I needed somebody to keep track of accounting so I had a CFO and I just kept building the company that way and Dave 10 years later I had a two hundred fifty million dollar company and my life was heck I didn’t want to do it anymore I was completely overwhelmed I never got help I just continued to hire people around me and I turned it turned out I felt like that I was for the company not a team working for me I mean I was the most captive employee that the team had and I owned the place and the way that you avoid that is you bring people in who immediately help you start offloading where you’re uncomfortable make your life easier your job as an entrepreneur when you start building a team is to do less and it’s one of the hardest lessons for us to learn but when we force ourselves to start doing less when we allow our team to do more when we give up the outcome and we say hey you go drive and do this then and coach success along the way everything in our business changes man Alex I echo exactly what you just said only because I went through that same thing it’s I wish if I could learn anything it would have been what you just said and that is the first hire should be your assistant and I yeah that literally I was probably my tenth or twelfth hire in my first company because I kept I thought I’ll do all that other kind stuff I need people to sell any people do these other types of things if you don’t mind I know you had a ton of experience hiring assistance for me the hardest part when I was looking at hiring assistant was I thought I went through first of all I always thought as far as anybody had an executive assistant they had to be really super successful so I had some success issues I had to work through but it’s kind of stupid but then the next thing I realized was I went through this whole issue as far as you know gosh they don’t do it as fast or as good as I can’t I can just do it better myself and so I had to own that and then the next issue I struggled with was what am I really paying this person for and does it make sense for me to pay this person literally to to pick up my laundry and to pick up to do these things that were other parts of my life that weren’t associated my business so if you don’t mind just kind of I mean you and I’ve had these conversations before as far as a little bit outsourced in your life and you’ve done an amazing job out of Alex but give people what types of things can they really have their assistants do and why is it so important they get this person hired and how to be higher well so here’s what I tell entrepreneurs Dave if if you don’t have an executive assistant then you are what you’re you I love that have an executive assistant when somebody asks you what you should do what you do you should say I’m an executive assistant because that’s what you are because if you’re an entrepreneur and you’re doing all the assistant activities that’s the main role you’re playing and when you bring in the right executive assistant they can double or triple your productivity here’s why because like you said Dave you go here’s here’s what I suggest everybody does when they’re hiring names and ei is you do a two-week time study and Dave you have a little experience with this would make you don’t have your own experience with um time studies are a game-changer but they’re they’re like super frustrating because what you do is you write down everything you’re doing all day for two weeks and then you take that summary and you look at it and you ask yourself what on this two-week summary can I give to an executive assistant so I’m no longer doing it and what you’ll find is the amount of leverage you can get is overwhelming and when you bring in that person and have them start working with you everything will change and and you know every entrepreneur I’ve ever worked with has that that same um like mantra in their head what if I’m faster or better I just recorded a podcast I think it was yesterday or the day before called it doesn’t matter if you are faster or better momentum podcast calm and listen to it because here’s the fact you’re always gonna be faster and better than somebody who’s coming into your business you’re always gonna be faster and better because they can’t see the future they don’t know where the company is going you can anticipate what’s next you’re always gonna be faster and better it’s something you’ve been doing to get the company up and running here’s the fact doesn’t matter because if you keep doing it you can’t do the next thing that’s going to scale your business and for an entrepreneur who’s scaling a business behavioral change is absolute here’s what I mean by that you must change 100% of what you’re doing at each new phase of business or your company will not grow so have you been doing the same thing for a while if you’ve been stuck in the same activities for a while I guarantee you you show me an entrepreneur doing the same things I’ll show you a company that has absolutely plateaued oh my gosh a totally grew that fact we literally just hired a new relationship manager to help me in my sum of stuff I’ve been doing for that one reason I you don’t mind I want to slow things down and go back to one of the things that we went through real quick there alyx but to me honestly was such a men break through and that was his whole idea as far as a time study what I mean when I was coaching with you it was it was fascinating to me because I’m I feel like I’m a pretty productive person I’m pretty outgoing I can get a lot crap done but as you said you know David you know we went through a whole bunch of different things that and it just resonated so well for me on this whole idea as far as a time study and again realize everyone who’s listened this I if you do anything at all from this podcast the one thing I recommend that you do is that you do a time study and for me it limit it didn’t take two weeks I think out what it was it two days maybe three before I boxed you saying okay third day because it was day yeah oh I was so angry that I was doing you just get in the mode again it’s that it’s the great thing is about entrepreneurs we just make stuff happen but by doing that it’s also gonna be a fault and for me if I was literally just amazed at how much of the stuff I was doing that I needed an assistant for I literally came up with three different people I needed to hire out of that time study and it it was just fascinating to me and by doing it it’s has helped not only myself become more productive and scale but even the benefit to us as far as clickfunnels it’s helped us in that areas will so if you guys don’t do anything all please just give a little more ideas for when they’re doing that time study what type of increments they need to be looking at and breaking it down a little more detail absolutely so you basically track what you’re doing every 15 minutes for two weeks and it when I when I say that entrepreneurs I can watch their physiology go like I’m gonna do what like nuts to do this not one up gives I mean I have to talk my clients into this but I just want to share with you I pulled up our high-end mastermind Facebook group and I just did a search on time study here’s the first three posts that are up Ashley Hall who is one of our clients put in I’ve been doing my first time study which I avoided since November this is January isn’t that like that’s dead-on she says I’m actually really happy and excited I’m doing it I feel like I’m acting with intention and being fully present in my tasks the time study has been a huge win for me because here’s what happens within 48 hours of starting the time study you’re looking at your time different and you’re thinking why am i doing these things it will start to get under your skin it’ll start to bother you it’ll irritate you and not want it to I want it to drive you nuts because what happens is when you look at where you’re investing your most valuable commodity of time and you’ve you realize how little of it is really where you want it to go you’ll start modifying immediately so the the entrepreneurs I coach the ones that pay me tens of thousands of dollars to a year to work with me they do a time study every 90 days and I get post like this all the time this is Molly Kaiser in our group and you know her day she posted the time study is helping me learn to better better balance and I’ve only done it for one day so far so honestly people if I can’t I cannot express the importance of doing this there’s nothing that’s more important right now in your business than this time study and I truly truly mean that because it will help you identify your strengths or weaknesses and more importantly how you can really scale and the one thing that everybody starts a business for is time freedom and yet it’s the one thing we always give up first when we start a business so again Alex to me it was just a brilliant experience and I appreciate you going through that yeah my pleasure David I think you know for anyone who’s thinking about it and you’re listening right now here’s what you do when you’re done with your time study sit down with it and mark the time that you spend in one of three ways strategic tactical and self-care or family time so you’re either strategic in your business tactical in your business or self-care and family time and then look at things like you know you can exercising’s is is self-care you know doing your planning is self-care those unless you’re doing it for your business and take those three metrics and look at them and if you’re spent here’s what most entrepreneurs find on their first-time study the lion’s share of what they’re doing is tactical there’s very little strategic and they’re disappointed with their self-care and family time and if you do it in the first time study and you do it another 90 days later it actually gives you verifiable information a scoreboard that says you are modifying how you’re using your time because it doesn’t matter what you do as an entrepreneur where you put your time will result in your level of success I totally agree with that and it’s been interesting you know we’ve got you know James P Friel here in our office helping Brussels basically folks on his unique abilities and unique strengths by creating more of an internal agency that we’ve been doing but it’s been fascinating because of the importance of time is it’s the one thing we still I mean everything we’ve been doing and and you’ve been extremely complementing towards how we built clickfunnels but I appreciate how at the same time you’ve been able to help us really realize where some of our weaknesses are and I it is in that aspect of a time study so I get all entrepreneurs I want you to definitely make sure you’re doing that Alex I know we’ve got it just a few more minutes I want to jump to one of the other things I love about what you talked about I know if we can cover this as fast as I’d like to but that was the idea as far as the Super Bowl and Hall of Fame those to me I just I’m not kidding it we’re such mind-opening thanks to me and resonates so much that if you don’t mind kind of explaining that to my audience I’d really appreciate it absolutely so Dave what we teach and what we coach if you look at like what is the foundation of everything that I coach our higher end groups what’s the foundation of everything that we teach people who are in our momentum masterclass like how do we help entrepreneurs gain momentum it’s by forward planning because here’s the difference between an entrepreneurial business and like I’ll just I’m gonna use an example of an NFL team and I want everyone to know I know nothing about sports so if you ever seen anything because I use analogies like this and then people walk up to me and they’re like hey did you see the game last night I just want everyone to know if you see me at final hacking live and you ask me if I saw the game the answer will always be no no matter what game it was I don’t see any games but this analogy works and with went with football you know Dave at one point when I was a consultant I got the opportunity to work with a couple of NFL teams I got called him locker room I was helping with some communication systems it was an incredible experience because it taught me a ton about business because when I walked into the NFL team you know there was this massive contrast I remember talking to a rookie on like his first week and I’m like because I asked this in every organization I’ve ever been hey what are the goals around here dude cuz that like that’s how I asked a warehouse worker that to see if the company knows like if they’re communicating to their team and Dave the entry low rookie in a heartbeat goes the goals were to get to Hall of Fame when the Super Bowl win the season I’m gonna win who I line up against this month this is who I line up against this weekend and these are my assignments for the day and I remember the first time that happened I was like holy crap no wonder football team to do so well with disparate you know personalities from around the country that don’t really get along but they still do well because there’s absolute clarity as to where they are going and if you look at the average entrepreneurial company and you say hey where you guys going around here you know what are the goals like the average employee in an entrepreneurial company will tell you survive because they don’t really know what is that forward-looking structure and the challenge for an entrepreneur if you haven’t spelled out what is the hall-of-fame goal what’s the Superbowl what are we doing this year what do we do in this quarter what do what you know what did we need in this quarter to make sure we hit our one-year goals what are we doing in the next 30 days to make sure we hit our quarterly goals and rubber meets the road what are our commitments for the week and what are we doing today when you spell that out for your team here’s what happens you shift the entire personality of your company because you go from a transactional manager which means you tell people what to do you check that it got done and tell them what to do again to a transformational manager we’re a transformational leader where you give people clear outcomes like there’s our Super Bowl you coach success along the way you tell you you let them own the outcome because now they know it you coach their success along the way and you get leverage results and here’s the key until you may until you have that forward-looking structure you will be the biggest bottleneck in your company you just have to accept it because if people don’t know where they’re going they’re always going to be looking for you to what’s next but if they do know where they’re going now your team goes from being behind you and you feeling and literally being the biggest bottleneck to getting out in front of you and helping you get there and David you guys do one thing in clickfunnels that’s like incredible it’s that every single person on the team at clickfunnels will sit down with you and tell you how incredible the company is how much fun they have working there and where you’re going oh thank you very much again to me it was such an it there’s as an entrepreneur I think but he has to have you have to have your own Super Bowl and sometimes that Super Bowl is the end of the year what’s your end of your Super Bowl but I love Super Bowls coming on an annual basis the other thing then is what’s your legacy goal what do you want to be remembered for what are you how did you get in the whole thing yeah and I just outside literally could spend days and days speaking with you I love when we have that kind of time I know you’ve been so generous with your time today I can tell you right now anybody who’s listening couple things first of all do a time study if you haven’t done it if you even if you did it last week do it again it’s the most valuable thing you can do second of all you need to identify what your Super Bowl is and what your Hall of Fame is and third thing is you better be at funnel hacking live because Alex can be teaching the same stuff from stage and he’s also hosting a roundtable in addition to that he’s a dear friend of mine and a guy I just appreciate so much the contribution that you give to so many people so Alex any other parting words before we head out of here yeah Russell gave me permission today that I can tease that there is a huge and I mean like ridiculously huge announcement coming up at black in live and I’m involved I could not be more excited I think it’s not here here’s the deal it’s not gonna change the game it’s gonna rewrite the rules of the game so if you’re gonna be a funnel hacking live there’s there’s even more than you expect coming to you I love it Alex thank you so much please tell your wife Katie I said hello and definitely take care of the two little girls we’ll talk real soon but thanks brother you know one of the things that means a ton to me is the personal reviews that you guys leave on iTunes you wouldn’t mind going out great this show let me know how I’m doing just go to iTunes click on the episode and rate it leave a comment I read all the comments I appreciate all the stars and everything everyone it’s already left for me I’m gonna really appreciate it and it’s my way of finding out how I’m doing so if you don’t mind I’d really appreciate it and I again thank you so much for all that you guys do have a great day
